Hello and welcome to my fantabulous Disneyland Pre-Trip Report!
I'm really super excited for this trip, mainly because I'M GOING TO DISNEYLAND! :hyper:
About me:
Name: Wendy
Age: 24
Miles From Disneyland: 430 (About a 7 hr. drive)
Admission Type: Premium Annual Passport
Reason For Trip: It's Disneyland, is a reason necessary? It doesn't hurt that most of my DIS friends will be there. :goodvibes
Lodging: HoJo's (thanks to stacielee!), and I'll be sharing a room with Cristabel (disney-inspired)
Me:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a268/wendylady36/HalloweenTime%202009/untitled.jpg
That's my niece with me.
I have three days and two nights to pack in as much as possible, and I plan on doing just that.
Things I will not get to enjoy:
Casey Jr. Circus Trains
Storybook Land Canal Boats
Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years
Gadget's Go Coaster
Steam Trains
Orange Stinger
The only one I'm disappointed about is the Steam Trains, they are such a great place to take a break in the Disneyland Park.
My Plans, thus far:
Friday, October 23rd
Make people believe in the monkey bride
Ms. Sally's Surprise Luncheon at Storyteller's Cafe 12:30PM (*squee* I'm so excited for this)
Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party at DCA 7:30pm (thanks to toocherie, tinkermell, fairykin and her mom for making this possible!)
Saturday, October 24th
Make people believe in the monkey bride
Magic Morning (Hopefully)
Breakfast in the Park with Minnie and Friends (My first time!)
Billy Hill & The Hillbillies
Dinner at Plaza Inn (I'm thinking about trying their famous chicken for the first time)
Fireworks
Fantasmic
Sunday, October 25th
Make people believe in the monkey bride
The day I go home
My trip report from last October: HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1950941)
I promise I will have plenty of pictures to share!

Looking forward to reading your PTR, and hopefully to meeting you and the other Diva's! I agree about missing the trains, it was a nice way to take a bit of a break. This week is the first I've heard of the Monkey Bride so hopefully I'll be a believer by the end of the trip.

I'm sitting here watching Aladdin on Disney Channel, getting super excited for Disneyland! I love the Aladdin show over in DCA, the Genie is the best!
Friday at work it was super slow, so I finally made my LGMHs. I don't know why I never made them before, it seems to me I've had the paint samples forever. There's a laminator at work so I was able to laminate them. I didn't hurt myself too badly making them, only snipped my finger a little with the scissors. :goodvibes

Earlier this evening, Steph (21yankees) posted this link over on Facebook: Disney Halloween Printables (http://family.go.com/holidays/pkg-disney-halloween-printables/).
I knew I had to make the Tomb Sweet Tomb Candy Box, so I did. No injuries to report, I just have super glue covered fingers.

I got the crown on this last Girls Trip. Someone brought them and someone else had an extra so I grabbed it. For the life of me I can't remember who had them. :confused3 I'm planning on going to Michael's for some crafty supplies, so if I see some I'll bring them with me next week. :thumbsup2

I love Minnie's!! We have the best pics with characters from there - too funny :thumbsup2 I did a photo album online from Disney and it was so beautiful. I'm so glad I did it - it really is my best souvenir ever. I'm not very crafty, so chances are my pics would never have made it that far, but now I have proof that Jesse can still be my fun child, not the teen terror that seems to have taken over sometimes :rolleyes1
Let me know if you do find those crowns - or I guess if you don't and I can go look for some! Too cute and I do like sparkly things  princess:

That's exactly why Thresea and I are going, 'cause we need our breakfast! I'm super grumpy if I don't eat in the morning. So fair warning, if I'm quiet in the morning it's because I need food or I'll go psycho! :rotfl2:

I can't believe I'll be in Disneyland this time next week. This trip is coming up scary fast and everything has happened so quickly. I went from not being able to go on this trip to suddenly having a hotel, a roomie, priority seating reservations, and a ticket to Mickey's Trick-or-Treat party. It's amazing how fast things can happen with the help of your friends.
I was trying to put snacks aside for my trip, and it was all great until I ate them all. :rolleyes1 Seriously, I have issues. The water I bought has gone untouched though, yay me! I also bought some Starbuck's VIA. I'm seriously obsessed with the stuff. Just more proof that Starbuck's puts drugs in their coffee.
Things I'm REALLY excited for:
Halloween fireworks
Seeing Murphy
SMGG
Being with my friends!
I called HoJo's yesterday to confirm everything and all is good there. :thumbsup2
I'm so overwhelmed with everything I need to do before next Friday. Does anybody want to do my job next week so I can get ready for Disneyland?

My trip is rapidly approaching and I still have nothing ready. I've hardly been home long enough to do anything, and when I am home, I'm so freakin' tired that I don't get anything done. I still need to go to Target and pick up some last minute things, like Red Bull. :hyper:
I also need to write down the schedule of events for this weekends meets. It would also be nice to be able to get one night of decent sleep.
In something unrelated to my Disneyland trip, my friends and I carved pumpkins last night and it was SO much fun! I can't remember the last time I carved a pumpkin.
Our pumpkins:
Lights On (My friends in the kitchen look like ghosts):

Mine is the big cat head. There was some debate as whether it was a cat or a bat, but the outline I used said it was a cat. I named him Edward. My friends also voted mine as the winning pumpkin and I got a prize, a bottle of wine!
I really cannot believe I'll be in Disneyland this week!

So, you know how sometimes you have a trip where something goes wrong and nothing happens like you thought it would? Well, that was pretty much this trip for me. I'm pretty sure if I were to calculate it, I'd find that I spent more time in hotels then in the actual parks. I'm going to try and salvage this trip report though, because I did have a fun time even though I was sick for the majority of it. :sad2:
Day Numero Uno:
I left work at 5PM on Thursday and drove to Melody's (tinkermell) home, where she so sweetly allowed me to stay the night. :worship: She even had some Disneyland books sitting out for me to read. :thumbsup2
Day 2:
Early in the morning we packed up her car and her, her DD and myself continued on to Disneyland! We made it to Anaheim at about 10AM and they dropped me off at HoJo's, where thankfully they had a room ready for me. :worship: I was in building 6, room 204.

It was a nice room, was pretty quiet, but I don't think building 6 is for me. I can't really explain why, I just didn't feel like it was for me. :confused3 I'm not against staying there again at the Entertainment rate.
After I dropped off my stuff I called Dawn (fairykin) and was on my way to help her set up for Sally's b-day party at Storyteller's.
When I got to Storyteller's I found that things were not so happy for Dawn, but eventually everything was figured out and everyone had a happy time. The tables were set and ready to go in the nick of time.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a268/wendylady36/HalloweenTime%202009/IMG_3591-1.jpg
In the back: Melody (tinkermell), Sally (the guest of honor), Cheryl (toocherie), Dawn (fairykin), and that's me in the front there.
Dawn and her mom:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a268/wendylady36/HalloweenTime%202009/IMG_3589.jpg
I thought I had gotten a picture of what the tables looked like all decorated, but I guess I was wrong.
Soon after everything was ready, the divas started showing up! It was so great to see everybody and meet a new Diva, Angie, and her adorable daughter. :cutie: We all sounded like a bunch of clucking hens, which is what will happen when you get a large group of ladies together. :hyper2:
For lunch I had the burger with fries. I didn't take a picture, because I was too hungry, but it was yummy!
After we ate, they brought out the cake. It was so pretty and it was metal free!

She got such lovely, wonderful gifts, everyone did a great job. :thumbsup2
After lunch, everybody went their separate ways, and I joined Dawn and Sally up to their room at the Grand. Cheryl was there and we all went to the concierge lounge, where they went through pins for trading. Dawn let me pick out a couple of pins, I chose a Sleeping Beauty and a Tinkerbell. I get too attached to pins, I had bought one specifically for trading and after a year of having it I decided I couldn't separate with it, so I don't think I'd be a very good pin trader. :rotfl2:

Hey, I've been waiting a long time for this. :rotfl:
That was nice of Melody to let you stay the night. She's so sweet. Whenever I think of her I remember how she brought me pommes frites and beignets, and sat with me through the freezing cold to wait for Fantasmic. :rotfl2:
It made sense for y'all to drive down together. ::yes::
Gotta love the ET rate at HoJo. It really cannot be beat. And at least the room had two sinks. That is soooooo handy.
Miss Sally's birthday party looked so special. She had the biggest smile on her face in those pics! And that cake......so pretty. :goodvibes
So THAT's why you didn't get into the parks the first day............you were living it up in the concierge lounge. :snooty: :rotfl2: Sounds nice. I'm not a pin trader either though. I have several lanyards full of pins and I won't part with a single one.
Looking forward to hearing about the ToT party. :)

I highly recommend getting someone to stay at concierge and having them invite you up. :rotfl2: Nothing like a glass of wine (or two or three) to make everything all better!
Great start to your TR! I'm sorry you ended up sick. I came home with a killer head cold!
Is the bedding upgraded in building 6 like it is in buildings 1 and 2?
Oh no, you got sick too! I hope you're feeling better. It was so great seeing you, even though we didn't get to talk much.
I'm gonna have to say no on the upgraded bedding in building 6.
It was great to meet you too, Wendy! I'm sorry you weren't feeling well on the trip.
Hey Angie! I wish we could've talked more, but there's always February! :hyper:
Looks like such a fun little party. I don't think I would be a good pin trader either!
It was a fun party! I wish I had more pictures to share of it, maybe I can steal some from someone.
I wish they didn't make the pins so freakin' cute! I even went and bought a pin, because I just had to have it. *sigh* Why does Disney do this to me?
Thanks for reading everyone!

After we ate, they brought out the cake. It was so pretty and it was metal free!
OK, I forgot to ask this earlier, but what does that mean, a "metal free" cake?

Dawn had ordered a cake before from Disney and she found metal it in. Apparently they sometimes use metal to hold the flowers in place on cakes. Never heard of such a thing before, my mom decorates cake for a living and she's never used metal. :confused3

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh great trip report, Wendykins!
Thanks for the great pictures that you took!
Did you get the picture of Angie's little girl blowing the pinwheel? It was so adorable.
Beth.. yep... they attach the flowers with a slim piece of metal.. call and ask them if they sometimes use thin metal wire to attach flowers.. they did with my birthday cake. Then when Disney management took it away, THEY found another piece.
So when i ordered this cake..i was specific.... please do not put anykind of decoration on the cake that needs metal wiring:rotfl:
Wendy, that glass of wine was still there when we checked out!!!:sad2:

After I had a sufficient amount of wine in me...thanks to Dawn for giving me access to the concierge lounge...it was time to get ready for Mickey's Trick or Treat Party! Everyone had such cute costumes! I got ready with Dawn and Sally, who were the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a268/wendylady36/HalloweenTime%202009/IMG_3613.jpg
The three of us walked to California Adventure to meet up with everyone else. I couldn't believe what some of the young girls I saw were wearing! If I had a daughter, I think I would have a heart attack if I saw her dressed like these girls were. Oh well, nothing I can do about how they dress. Eventually everyone was in one spot and we took some pictures.

Thankfully, some of the other gals decided they were done for the night and we went back to the Grand. :worship: Linda and I headed to the lounge and caught the fireworks from up there. Then Bree, Sally, Dawn and Cheryl joined us and we drank wine and grand marniers and ate yummy desserts. At this point it was definitely bed time, so I poured my grand marnier in a sippy cup and started my walk back to HoJo's.
It was really fun hanging out with everyone this night. I love my friends! :grouphug:

I hate how so many use Halloween as a chance to dress slutty. Have you seen the movie Mean Girls? There's a scene where one of the characters is invited to a Halloween party and really gets into it dressing all ghoulishly, only find that the other girls use Halloween as an opportunity to wear lingerie with a pair of bunny or cat ears and call it a "costume".

It was just clear to her that you are a natural sort of girl who preferred something healthy over any candy they had to offer. ;)

Oooh - I want one of those little crown stickers that you have on Tink!!! Where the heck did you get that sparkly little thing and where can I get one????
I got the crown on this last Girls Trip. Someone brought them and someone else had an extra so I grabbed it. For the life of me I can't remember who had them. :confused3 I'm planning on going to Michael's for some crafty supplies, so if I see some I'll bring them with me next week. :thumbsup2
I brought the crowns last year. Got them on an end aisle at Michael's. I'm not crafty, but they were cute.

We actually got a lot of candy. Sure tons of it was sour stuff and taffy, but hey, we like that too. We did get a fair amount of tootsie rolls and chocolate bars, whoppers etc. And, the Ghiradelli! Welcome to day two, it's time for Magic Morning y'all!
Magic Morning was a very special treat for me, because as an AP holder and a broke person that can't afford to stay on Disney property, I haven't done Magi Morning since '05 or '06. :sad2: So I have to say thank, thank, thank you Linda for getting me in! :worship: Magic Morning is the best, because not many people are willing to get up extra super early.
On this day, the park opened at 8 AM, since Magic Morning was at 7 AM, which means, I wanted to be at the gate by at least 6:40 AM. Luckily I woke up before my alarm clock went off, I didn't want to wake my roomie, she looked so peaceful passed out on her bed. The sun hadn't started rising yet, so the room was dark and I didn't want to turn any lights on and wake Cristabel. I don't know about you, but when I'm sleeping and someone turns on a light *bam* I'm awake. Of course, stumbling around in the dark makes a lot of noise, especially knocking over aerosol cans on a counter. Thankfully, I never woke my roomie up and I was able to tiptoe out of the room, just as it was starting to get light outside.
I saw the darnedest thing as I finished crossing over to the Disneyland side of Harbour Blvd. There was this woman who is was doing this fast kind of walk. I believe they call it jogging. She wasn't even being chased. :confused3 Oh man, seriously though, I wish I had that kind of stamina, especially so early in the morning!
I made it to the main gate at about 6:45, where approximately 20 other people were waiting. So I took some pictures instead of getting right into line.
Ready for some more blurry, semi-blurry and not so blurry pictures?
(The correct answer would be "yes" if you said "no" you'd be wrong)

At this point I started getting phone calls. Seems nobody was ready for Magic Morning like me, so I was going it alone. At one point everyone (which was about 50 people at this point) was singing "Happy Birthday" and it made me think of Beth. After everyone sang, they started the countdown, and 10 seconds later, the park was open! I beelined for Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and was able to walk right on. It was fun, and I'm glad I didn't have to wait in a huge line for it, but I definitely like the original better. After I got off SMGG, I ran into Kelly, who told me that she saw the Monkey Bride! :woohoo: Another believer! I didn't want to keep her, so I said my goodbyes and headed for Star Tours. If you didn't know, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I can entertain myself for hours with Star Wars toys. This ride was also walk on and you got to pick your seat. I sat smack dab in the middle. I'm sad that they are changing it, but I'm interested to see what the new attraction will be like.

I don't know how I keep finding spiders at Disneyland, but I do. I am absolutely petrified of the little buggers. Seriously, I turn to stone when I see one. I don't breathe or blink, I just stop and wait to see who makes the first move. I'm constantly being made fun off at work, because we get lots of spiders and I have to, as calmly as possible, find someone to remove them from my sight. The web is what I saw first, because the light was hitting it in a way that caught my attention.

And I'm so glad we found the Monkey Bride and were able to pass it around exactly where she was this year (although I did not get a pic as I am one of the rule followers and do not use flash photography and I can't figure out how to take a pic with my camera without it :confused3).
Yes, Beth, it is almost February :woohoo:
I think Beth might owe us some candy for rubbing it in that she got lots of good stuff last year. Beth, you have my address??????? :lmao:
BTW - that spider scared the beejeebers out of me. Why you take a pic of THAT?????

:lmao: Well, last year you got the same awesome candy because you were trick or treating with me. :rotfl2:
Wow, those pics look dark and early!!! 6:45??? Ugh. No way, no how could I drag myself to the park that early. Well, I might if I didn't have all four kids to get ready. That was nice you got to go and enjoy it. :goodvibes
And that spider...... :scared1: It was freakin huge!!!!
The castle pics make me really miss it. Is it February yet? :yay:
Yeah, I did get some pretty awesome candy when I was with you, but not even close to the amount, even though I know the odds weren't in my favor on that one.
I know how hard it is to get a family ready for MM. It's amazing my family ever made it to a MM, but I don't think we ever missed one that we had a chance to go to.
And yes, that spider was big, and scary.

No worries about MM, I completely understand. I didn't get a good picture of the monkey bride either, but I'm glad that Kelly did! It's too hard to take pictures on my camera without a flash, everything turns out blurry unless I have a tripod or flat surface.
Beth should send us candy, that's such a wonderful idea! You have my address too, right Beth?
I had to take a picture of that spider! How could I not, I needed to share the scariness!

Looking forward to more. :yay:

Well, let's go!! I'll take the bus and meet you there. :rolleyes1
LOL I don't know what's gotten into me. Seriously. I am really jonesing for a Disney trip right now. I really want to see the castle all lit up. (sigh) I'm even torturing myself by reading trip reports of WDW trips!! And that is someplace I know I have no chance in hell of getting to!!!!!

Oh. My. Gosh. That spider and that web is HUGE. So gross! I don't mind spiders, but big ones and webs are just gross. I get a feeling like they're crawling on me. EW.. I would have cried if I saw that big nasty ugly thing.
I love Star Wars too. I'm kind of excited they're changing the ride. And I love the store when you exit the ride!!

Heck yeah, lets go!!! They don't mind if we sleep in the Esplenade, right?
I'd love to visit WDW too, but I also have no chance of going there anytime soon.

The other day I was in the kitchen and I felt something crawling down my back and I freaked the heck out. Turns out my hair tie had fallen down the back of my shirt. :rotfl2:
I think they should keep one of the flight simulators the same, that way I can see the new one and still go back to the old one. :thumbsup2

The zoom on my camera helped...A LOT. I had to have been at least 15+ feet away from that sucker.
Come to think of it, maybe it's just a Halloween decoration, 'cause last year when I was there for Halloween Time, I saw this:

Okay, that spider cannot be real, can it?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :scared1: :scared1: What kind of spider is that huge??
I saw several spiders when we went to Mickey's ToT party last year. It was creepy. One of them was pretty big, no where near that big though, and it was right on the pay phone handle. Hope no one needed to use the pay phone.

Love the TR so far and it looks as though you all have a wonderful time together...someday maybe I will be able to join in on the Diva's only fun.
The spider pictures really creeped me out and I wonder if the are real or did Disney put them there to fit in with the Halloween theme...if they are fake they don't look like it and if I ran into a spider that big everyone around would have buzzing ears after my screams.
I am horribly afraid of spiders:scared1:

Hi Theresa! I hate that date stamp thing. I mean I like it for my records but always need to remove it to print and I don't know how. Hate it even more when the date is wrong though.
I love that the water was back in the castle moat for your trip. Your picture is great. I missed it my last two Oct. visits!
I am also dying to go to DL for XMas. I have pirate suite reserved and wanted to take my Mom, but she is so so about going, and Bill is so so about going. We are not flying, for sure. Guess we will see what the weather brings and if a driving trip is possible.
