I know that I am late in starting a PTR cuz we're only 65 days away :cool1: but... some interesting things have happened on this journey to the world. I thought it would be fun to share them with whoever wants to read. :lovestruc
The cast:
Me (the DW): ::MinnieMo Total Disaholic, probably too obsessed with anything Disney, been to Disney World 7 times. I'm steering this ship. I plan to make this the best Christmas trip ever!:santa:
DH: :smickey:Likes pretty much anything Disney and enjoys trips to the world but thinks I need professional help when it comes to my Disney obsession.:confused3 He's been to the world 6 times.
DD: :earsgirl: 8 years old and is too cool for a disney obsession, what happened to my little princess????? She's been to Disney 3x's.
DS: :mickeyjum My four year old DisneyNut! He screams "DisneyWorld!" every time the castle shows up on a commercial or before a movie. Wants to go back soooo bad! He's only been to Disney World once.
The idea:
This December will be our 15th wedding anniversary. We honeymooned in Disney - stayed at Port Orleans - and because we took turns putting each other through college, we didn't go back until my husband brought his middle school band and my daughter and I tagged along. She was 3. We attempted to go back for our 5th and 10th anniversary but it didn't work out. I am committed to making this trip happen.
This would be our first Christmas in the world since we've had our children. I want us to experience that magical time in Disney before they are too old to "believe." My daughter is getting dangerously close to that point thanks to friends at school. :headache:
Next post: What instigated this whole trip in the first place...

When I'm not in Disney World, I'm always planning the next trip. Sometimes I don't even know when that next trip will be but always looking forward to "next time."
This next section will give you some background info that, I promise, will come in useful later. :goodvibes Last November, we broke ground on our new house. We had spent the last 15 years in our "starter" house in a not-so-great neighborhood, but it was comfortable (and cheap). Alas, the time had come to take that next step and move our family into something and somewhere that was better suited to us. Before we did this, however, we convinced DH's mother to build a house on the lot next to our soon-to-be-new-house. She originally lived next door to our starter home and after losing her husband (DH's father) the year before, we couldn't leave her by herself. DH is her only child and she is in her 70's. You get the picture.
So....we are a couple months into building our new house, still own the old house, economy starts falling...and we get a coveted pin code from Disney!!!!:scared1: Evil Disney executives! I have NEVER gotten a pin code and always dreamed of it. Actually I didn't get it then either. It came under my DH's name. :headache: Anyway, I turned to my husband, gave him my biggest puppy dog eyes, and tried to justify booking a "tentative" vacation. :rolleyes1 I gave him all the reasons I listed in my first post, told him we had up until Nov. 2 to cancel if we needed to and because he loves me:love:, he said ok.
Now I know that being able to build a house is a blessing unto itself, but the feeling of having a Disney trip booked, :cloud9: I went full speed ahead planning, subscribing to TGM, etc. By the way, building a house is stressful and Disney was my distraction.
We are getting really close to our trip now. We still have not sold our old house, but I'm confident in our jobs. We have moved into our beautiful, new house and are closing on it this month. This whole time I have managed to keep our Christmas trip a secret from the kids because I wouldn't be able to bare seeing the disappointment in my ds's face if he knew and we had to cancel.:sad2: We went to the bank yesterday to start the closing process and I'm pretty confident that we can handle things as they are right now. Of course, it would have been better to have the other house sold but c'est la vie. So, it looks like we will be paying off our trip around Halloween. That's the plan at least!:woohoo:

The seed that planted this little trip was a pin code for 40% off a package. I don't know if you ever got one of these, but as great as this is, I was a little disappointed. In my mind, it was 40% off the package, but really, all you get is 40% off the room. I got over my disappointment - a discount is a discount right? It wasn't as great of a deal as I originally thought but still cheaper than rack rate. We were only going to go for 4 days until I realized the last MVMCP was the 18th. I was planning to arrive on the 20th but didn't want to miss the party. I know that the xmas stuff starts everyday on the 19th but I still wanted to attend a party. So to save money, I kept the package for the original four days and booked a connecting reservation for a room only from the 17th - 20th. I figured we could tour the resorts for xmas decorations, spend some time in Downtown Disney, etc. I would wait until closer (to make sure we were still going) and purchase tickets to the party on either the 17th or the 18th.
Then...dun, dun, dunnnn... FREE DINING!!!! Ok Disney - go throw a wrench in my plan. I first saw the Disney Visa offer. I stressed for about a day, calculating if I could save more money with my 40% off room or paying rack rate and getting free dining. :scratchin Decisions, decisions...My final decision would be that with free dining, we could have a better vacation for right about the same amount of money I was already spending. :thumbsup2 Since we are staying at a value resort, I would have to pay to upgrade from the "free" quick service dining to the "not so free but discounted" regular dining plan. I contemplated if I wanted to do this but because this is Christmas and because of the crowds, I really wanted to do the Candlelight Processional package and the Fantasmic dinner package. We also planned to do one dinner show that we did on our honeymoon. It definitely worked out cheaper to upgrade than to pay for those out of pocket. So I called Disney and changed our reservations to 7 nights, 6 day park hoppers with the Dining Plan.
Since then, Disney is now offering the buy 4 get 3 at mods & deluxes and the buy 5 get 2 at the values. Definitely not a better deal for us so for now, plans stay the same.

Rollin' right along - trying not to think about going to work tomorrow.
September 18th was my 90 day mark. I woke up extra early to book my adr's before going to work for 6:50. I had heard that online was opening up earlier than the phone lines and while that might have been true, I had no luck. The online system would not pull up my +10. I could only get it to open my first day. Grrrr!
I was able to get an answer at 6:03 central time but had to hold until 6:17. By that time, I had only a little trouble getting my adrs.
Here's the list:
Saturday, Dec. 19th - Donald's Safari Breakfast @ 8:20 (our first time) and Hoop Dee Doo @ 7:15pm
Sunday, Dec. 20th - San Angel Inn @ 2:00pm for the 5:00pm Candlelight Procession Performance (another first for both the restaurant and the peformance)
Monday, Dec. 21st - Liberty Tree Tavern @ 5:35 (1st time too!)
Tuesday, Dec. 22nd - Mama Melrose @ 3:40 for Fantasmic Package (never done the package before)
Wednesday, Dec. 23rd - Sci-Fi @ 11:15 (another first)
As you can see, we are trying a few things we haven't done before. Last trip, we did almost every character meal possible and didn't want to repeat them even if they were GREAT.
A couple days after I made my adr's I realized that I probably could have made reservations for the Pirates League. For our last trip, my little girl dressed up as Tinkerbell and had an appointment at BBB. In June, when Pirates League opened, I was so excited that there was something my DS would love to do. I showed him and of course, he wanted to go immediately!:rotfl: My way too cool for BBB again 8 year old DD mentioned she would like to do this too.  So I acted nonchalant at the time but secretly plotted to get her to dress up like Elizabeth Swan for Halloween. DS already had a Captain Jack costume from last Halloween. I was able to get both of them in at the Pirates League for 3:00 before we eat at Liberty Tree Tavern on Dec. 21st. I also managed to convince DD to get the girl buccaneer costume for Halloween so we're all ready!!!!
DS in Capt. Jack outfit last Halloween:

Here they are posing in each their pirate costumes - Can't wait for Pirates League!!! Can you tell my DS is a character??? DD is still thinking "This is so not cool."

Off topic - I hate when I type a whole bunch and then lose it and have to start over again! Back to the story...
Had to share two really good deals:
Disney Visa: Not only do you rack up points to spend in the happiest place on earth, you also get 10% off on purchases over $50 at Disney Stores - even online. I also like getting a heads up on offers that sometimes go out to the general public. As I mentioned earlier, we built a house this year and of course I used that to my advantage by putting as much as I could on my Disney Visa to rack up points. We also pay whatever bills we can with it. Paying it off every month is the best way to get free money! ;) Since we went on our Feb 08 trip, we have been able to rack up over $500 in reward dollars! When I finally got scared enough that our MVMCP dates would sell out, I ordered the online for FREE!!!! Yes, you heard that right - F-R-E-E! I used some of our reward dollars to pay for our party! :dance3: I also plan to pay for Pirates League with Reward Dollars as well and I should have some left for snacks and souveniers. :cool1:
Here are our tickets: BTW I paid $5.00 to have them sent to me when I could have printed them for free but what fun is that? Who doesn't love getting Mickey Mail???
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_6885.jpg
Related to the Disney Visa but a great deal on its own:
Disney Outlet online - I got an email featuring their deal of the week. It was kids varsity jackets that were normally $24.50 down to $9.99. If you pay with a Disney Visa, you get 10% off of that (if you spend more than $50). Can anyone say "Christmas presents?" :santa:
Here is a picture of my DD and DS's jackets:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_6886.jpg
My DH just came in from the bank and told me he just switched our Chase Visa debit cards to Disney debit cards. :-) I knew I had a good one! LOL I guess he figures if he has to bring me to Disney, might as well have some help! BTW the debit card only collects at a half percent instead of a whole percent like the credit card and only works if you don't use your pin.
And while I'm on the subject of great deals, free is always great so I would like to give a shout out to some extremely talented "DISigners." Who have made and are making some really great disigns for our tshirts and room decorations for our trip. If you have time, you should check them out! We really appreciate their talent and willingness to spread pixie dust to us who lack the creative talent!

A few days ago my DH and I took my M-inlaw to dinner for her bday. We're sitting at the table and he says "Mom, why don't you come with us to Disney World in December?" :scared1::faint:
To be fair...we had discussed previously and HYPOTHETICALLY that she could tag along to enjoy seeing the kids enjoy themselves. We even mentioned it to her before and she didn't really show a whole lot of interest. She's no disneynut and would be perfectly fine with never going back, but she does love the grandkids. I attempted to slightly discourage her by telling her how long the trip would be and that it would be crowded, cold, etc. I even mentioned that we were tentatively planning to go back for Fall break in 2011 if she wanted to go during the fall when it was warmer, less crowded, and a shorter trip.
Needless to say when we got home I was like "What were you thinking?" and he was all clueless like "What? I thought we talked about this?" It wasn't an argument or anything because we didn't even know if she wanted to come. But then the call came, :sad2:. I was shell-shocked. All the planning and dreaming and not that vacation was ruined but now there was a 73 year old to consider and reservations to make and ADR's to change...get the picture?
My husband was about to tell her nevermind, but there was no way, I was going to be the bad guy. I spent the rest of the evening fixing everything I could to accomodate her. She now has a room, tickets, and the QSDP. I was able to get her into 3 of my 6 ADR's. I will attempt to get our rooms to be close when it gets closer. I've typed up a calendar for her with where we will be when and with all of our dining. I had to get her the Quick Service plan because I couldn't see trying to get 3 table service reservations for one (she doesn't like sit down restaurants) or her wasting 3 of them. I figured she wouldn't mind paying out of pocket for the few I could get her in with us and we'll probably end up treating her anyway. I tried to explain how easy Disney transportation was to use and that she wasn't tied to keeping up with us. :rolleyes1
Anyway, I am getting use to the idea of her coming and trying to forget the last vacation I had with her when she didn't speak to me for 2 weeks after we returned . We've come a long way since then soooooo I'm looking at this trip from my husband and kids' perspective. They just lost their grandfather/father 2 years ago. She is getting up in age. She probably won't be able to do Disney next time we go. The kids will probably LOVE having her around. I will do this for them. Maybe we can sneek one night alone???;)

This is my plan but I'd like to hear anyone's suggestions.
I would LOVE to get a big box, inflate two mickey head shaped balloons, tie them to letters from Santa that say "come meet me in disney world", and have the kids open this "present" when we pick them up from school early on the day we leave. I got Wendypooh to come up with the letters and they are adorable! I don't know where to get the mickey head shaped balloons though. You know, the ones from the commercials??? If anyone out there knows where to get them, let me know. I also thought I could throw in some of the kids Disney tshirts but then they wouldn't be packed. Hmmm don't know yet.
I loved doing the countdown chain last trip. This secret stuff is killing me especially when I have DD aka Grumpy at home. We watched Snow White Monday and I used to think she reminded me of Tink (attitude) but now I think she is more like Grumpy. I should make her a Grumpy tshirt. :rotfl: The thing is, at times she looks like she is way into the movie then when asked about it, she says the equivalent to "bah humbug." How did I create such a little scrooge? Oh well, I'm not giving up on her because I know she secretly likes it. I just have to watch how much I push b/c the harder I push, the more she pulls away. She was even watching Snow White through her fingers, pouting at one point... but she was still watching. Hee,hee..;)

Sometimes you get pixie dust when you don't expect it. Today, I got a few more DISigns and seeing them made my day. I won't show you now cuz it'll ruin the surprise when I show you my tshirts. ;)
Then I needed to go to the grocery store and just so happened to see Mickey Pizza. ???? Did you know there was Mickey Pizza??? I didn't. So of course I put 2 in the buggy. Then on my way to the register, I noticed Halloween Disney Candy! ???? I wanted to do the my disney jig :woohoo:. I bought those too. When I got home, I showed Grumpy (DD) and DS and of course, that's what they wanted for supper. Yes...even DD
Here's a picture of kids with supper:

Hi Melanie, I did a search on Disney rewards and MVMCP and it brought up your TR (which looks great by the way). I'll be subbing! Question, you said you paid from MVMCP with reward points online. So, were you able to enter your reward card just like a credit card. I'd like to pay for MVMCP with reward points but have not yet ordered the card. Curious as to how you did it. Thanks

Hi! :hippie: Thanks for stopping by. When you go to check out, you click on the dot next to Disney Reward Redemption card and enter the information like a credit card. I hadn't switched over enough points for tax and shipping so I ended up paying like $3 on my cc which I think you might have to put your cc info anyway in case you don't have enough credits on your reward card. It was easy and exciting!:yay:

LOL!!!:lmao::rotfl: Not quite. I've learned to tolerate her in the last 18 years and I guess the other way around. She's so clueless. I couldn't leave her to her own resources. Time does help. At 3 years, shoot, at 6 years, it was BADDDDD. But of course, I had my first child (her first grandchild) at 6 years. There was a lot of line drawing that year... We have a better understanding now.

If she wouldn't be so old and alone...:sad2: I wouldn't even consider it. I kinda' feel bad for her sometimes. I'm pouting right now because my big thing is that I didn't want it change the way we park tour. I don't know if it will. She does walk for exercise every day (more than me) so physically I think she can make it. I just don't know if we can take all that togetherness. She doesn't exactly like the same things we do. :confused3

Well, I was on a roll for a while and then life took over again. I'm kinda' in a lull right now. Not close enough to do much more planning or packing and don't have all my disigns to start shirts. I don't even want to order them until I see the disigns and can pick colors. So I'm achin' for something DISNEY to do!!!!
And then...
A co-worker who I don't see often came in today and said, "I need some advice. We're going on a short trip to Disney for Thanksgiving." CHA-CHING!!!!! I REALLY did try to contain myself but I had the overwhelming urge to jump up and down clapping!:cheer2:
I calmly asked her what their plans were so far (breathe...slowly). Her husband booked a package and dining reservations but she couldn't tell me any details. :confused3 I told her that if she got me the info I could help her have some kind of basic plan. The last time she went was 2003 and without kids so there are a lot of things to consider. I'm looking forward to sharing all of the wonderful information I've accumulated over the last couple years on the DIS. It will be hard to not overwhelm her (or take over her trip). Does anyone get this way???? or is it just me??? :upsidedow
The next big thing for me is to pay this trip off by Nov. 2 which is right around the corner. Then I get to wait for Mickey Mail.:woohoo:
Of course there is lots to do like make tshirts, eventually start packing in total secret from the kids, arrange for the "big surprise," and of course there is real life (work, football games, Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, etc.) ;)
Happy almost Friday!:yay::dance3::cheer2:

So sorry to be MIA for so long! I've just been so busy!
Here's an update:
I have all of my designs for our tshirts. Yes, we will match the entire trip (even more than our last trip). I have a Brady bunch reputation to uphold. (Inside joke - my brother calls us) M-inlaw will not be dressing up with us as she ONLY wears button down shirts and knit pants. :thumbsup2
I ordered our blank tshirts and will be shopping for transfers for when our shirts come in. BTW I have NEVER ironed a transfer before. This should be interesting. :rotfl:
I have finished xmas shopping for everyone except the babies in the familly (4). This includes my kids. I have ordered just about all presents online and am awaiting their arrival. :santa: I consider this disney planning because it HAS to get done before we leave! :lmao:
Our trip is now paid for! I had to pay by Nov. 2nd and on Nov. 1st, I put it on good ole' Disney Visa to get my points. I just paid that off and can officially say "paid in full!"
I'm really excited about the 50% off of the Pirates' League while we will be there! This means I will only pay about $50 for my two instead of the $100!
AND my disney reward dollars are up to $342!!!! I will be using these for souvenirs, extra food and drinks, and a couple of xmas present add ons!!!
In "real life," I have my tickets to see New Moon at the midnight premier! :cool1: I am a BIG Twilight fan and will attempt to survive a work day with only 2 hours of sleep after the premier because I simply cannot wait another day! I did manage last year after the Twilight premiere so my chances are pretty good. ;)
Also in "real life," school/work is officially cancelled tomorrow because of Hurricane Ida :woohoo: which I don't think will actually affect us a whole bunch. This is our first hurricane in our new house. We picked up toys and closed our new shutters today as well as bought a few nonperishables just in case. I think we will only get a little wind and rain.
AND..... Geaux Saints!!! 8 - 0 baby! Could this really be the year???? I remember when fans wore bags over their heads. :sad2: We will proudly be sporting our beautiful Saints designs in Disney very soon!
Oh and I did help my co-worker. She seemed appreciative but I'm anxious to see if she uses any of my advice. I guess I'll find out after Thanksgiving. AND get this: my best friend from school (who has NEVER been to wdw) called me to tell me she wanted to book wdw for Dec 13-17!!!! OMG! I almost lost my mind! I am sooooo glad they want to go but the planner in me was screaming noooooo!!!!! Of course, I helped her the best I could, but she was very disappointed when she couldn't get the restaurants she wanted at such a late date. She is so lucky though. She is staying at the Poly on the deluxe dining plan! I hope she realizes how lucky she is. We could never afford that! So, I am slowly dissemenating information to her. She's going from 0 to everything and I don't want to overwhelm her. I want her to have the best trip ever so I will be working on that as well.
I promise I will not wait so long to update next time! Thanks for reading!popcorn::

Yes - crazy! I don't think I even mentioned the infestation of red ants that have invaded my new house that I can't get rid of. They show up in a new room every few days! Or that we just closed on our house yesterday :-) Or that this year, we formed a dance team at our middle school and it's taking a LOT of practice and games, etc. It's a really good thing my husband has the same hours as me. I don't know what I would do if he worked to 6pm everyday. We go in early, but we get off early too. :)
Today is the last football game so I'm thinking I'll have some time for more disney planning, BUT I just heard today that basketball season will be starting in DEC. Ugh! More practices and games to perform at. Man! I was hoping we could break until January! Actually, I have to admit that even though it interferes with my Disney-planning, I LOVE my team and choreographing, etc. for them. I just know that I'm getting down to the line here. 36 more days!!!:cool1:
To do:
Finish park planning
Make a packing list
Make shirts (when blank t's come in)
Shop for packing list stuff
KEEP THIS A SECRET FROM THE KIDS!!!
Plan and do all for Thanksgiving and then Christmas BEFORE we leave! (we host for both sides of the family)
Oh and host my godchild's bday party Saturday after Christmas.
Hmmm and MUST SEE: Twilight, Christmas Carol (we saw the train too!), and The Princess and the Frog!
Can't forget about the special exhibit in New Orleans: Disney Art from the Classic Fairy Tales - want to go!
More to come soon!

Just got back from watching A Christmas Carol in 3D. Wow! This was REALLY well done. They did a wonderful job with the animation and stayed true to the original even with the language. Having said that, I think it was a bit too dark for my 4 year old. Even my 8 year old, who I admit is somewhat of a chicken, was covering her eyes for some parts. I knew that there were some dark parts but I didn't expect them to be so long. I felt like most of the movie was dark and scary. I loved the movie but I think I'll feel some little ones sneaking into my bed tonight!:headache:
My blank tees are washing and drying right now so I should be good to go tomorrow whenever I can sneak around the kids. ;)

Working on shirts. Not too bad actually. Just DON'T use the Transfermations brand from Michael's!!!! I wasted two before I finally tried a different brand (Transfermagic from Hobby Lobby) and found out it wasn't my printer but the brand of transfers. Using the 40% off coupon it wasn't too expensive. Originally 11.99 for 5. I THOUGHT I was getting a deal from Michael's as I used a 40% off coupon also but was getting 10 transfers. The ones from Michael's left these ugly rain drop looking dark spots. I did bring them back to Michael's with the other brand example and they gave me my money back.
I'm taking a little break as DH goes to get more ink. :worship: We just got home an hour ago and realized we forgot to get extra ink. I was already low.:headache:
I've done all of our AK shirts and 2 of our Saints shirts. I'm going to do as many as I can tonight while my DD is at a slumber party. DS is slightly oblivious so won't spoil the surprise. He just thinks he's getting shirts.
I'll post pics tomorrow of my very first Dis designed shirts!!!:cool1:
PS - Also scored some major xmas loot in the dollar bins at Michael's!!! All disney of course!!!

Well, this tshirt thing isn't too bad once you've figured it out! I was able to do about 1/2 of our shirts with the packs of transfers I had. I'm using my 40% off coupons from Hobby Lobby to get them so I'll be getting more this week. :cool1:

These shirts really weren't hard to make and I REALLY appreciate the help of our wonderful group of Disney designers who selflessly made them for me. I can't wait to get more transfers to do our anniversary shirts, MVMCP shirts and Joy from the World shirts! Can't wait. After this is done, I'll start packing!!! Who says you can't pack a month ahead?!?!:dance3:
Who dat?! 3 more minutes and still 28 - 17!!! 9 - 0 baby!!!! Thanks for the "cheer out" Jordan!:cool1:
Spoke too soon 28 - 23. Don't let me down, Saints!!!!

Congrats on the new house, the MIL coming along (Hey I did that when mine were 3 and 6 mos. -- it was a huge help, and it was with my MIL and my DH's GRANDMOTHER too!) and the whole surprise thing... yep, done that too, we have not figured out the plan for this one yet! SO your Tshirts are adorable, your ADRs look great! Good choices!!! And yes what a deal on those Pirate League appointments, right? Our luck! SO I can't believe this trip is so close!!! It will be here before you know it! I was at Michael's on Friday, btw, and grabbed a few final treats, too, you are right they had great stuff!!!!

Glad you came over! :goodvibes Thanks for the congrats. We are just in heaven in our new house. It'll wear off a little when I pay my first big house note January 1st. :rotfl: I hope having MIL along with us will be an asset. DH says the kids can stay with her at least one night.;) We are at Pop so only 4 in a room means she has her own room which should help with the too-much-togetherness aspect. The only thing is that I always want everyone to have a GREAT time and she is hard to please. It will bother me if she mopes or is less than enthusiastic which she sometimes is. That's probably more my problem than hers. I'm such a people pleaser that it irks me sometimes.
Anywho...Our trips are right around the corner and I'm sooooo excited!!!:yay:

OMG!!! I saw your post about the tshirt transfers and about died!! That is the exact brand I had bought on sale from Micheals. So I broke out one pack and tried to make two shirts. They are terrible! Mine had weak spots in the transfer plus rain drop spots as well!! I am not happy about it. I found the receipt for one pack and I am taking the unused one pack. I ended up ordering some from Amy hopefully they will be in soon so I can get started!
Love the tshirts and the dollar stuff. I need to pick up some more $1 glow stick packs while I am at Micheals this week. I also got the stuff to make some Mickey bell ornaments for the table top Christmas tree I am taking. Hobby Lobby had their bells 50% off today. :cool1:

I'm so glad you had your receipt. I would bring back the open pack also with the samples of how much they suck! Maybe they would at least give you a credit if they won't give you the money back. I bought two more packs of transfers from Hobby Lobby - TransferMAGIC. They were 11.99 so I paid $7.80 with the 40% coupon.:thumbsup2 Good luck with your shirts. Can't wait to see them.
You are making Mickey bell ornaments???? I'm intrigued. :goodvibes We are bringing a small tree as well. I am thinking of decorating our window again as well. I have some Christmas ornament graphics with characters in them that I saved God knows when. I figured I could print them on window cling paper, but I'm trying to figure out how to make a xmas tree on the window. A green poster???:confused3 I guess if I did the poster, I could just print the ornaments on regular or thick paper and glue them to the tree. !!!! That would be cheaper than clings anyway! Ooh! Another secret Disney project!!!!

Just poppin' in to say that even though I am DOG-TIRED right now, I am SOOOO excited to be going to the New Moon premiere tonight at midnight. It is completely sold out so it will be a mad-house. I still have NOT been able to work on Disney stuff and it is totally stressing me out!!!! I can't just work on it any time because it is a surprise and we've been busy doing other things also.
After my late night/early morning date with a vampire and a werewolf, I (of course) was no good by the time I got home from work. I think I fell asleep sometime between 6 and 7 pm. I thankfully slept for about 13 hours. :woohoo: I don't bounce back like I used to. :rotfl: We had a family birthday party at 11am Saturday and then I promised to watch my niece and godchild so my sister and hubby could go watch New Moon after the bday party. Somehow that seemed to take up my whole Saturday. Today, we went to the Global Wildlife Center in Folsom. It was an hour and a half drive one way, pic-nic-ing, the "safari" and then the drive home. Crazy enough, when we got home, we ate a quick supper and went shopping for tennis shoes (gotta break'em in before Disney) and xmas decorations because our old house color theme doesn't go in the new house.
High time I added some pics so I'll post some from the trip today and whenever we finish decorating our new xmas tree, I'll add those too!

great pix. I love the one where she's just pouring the food into the animal's mouth
It was so hilarious because they told us EXACTLY what the animals would do: come up to the wagon, open their mouths, stick their tongues way to the side and expect you to just pour in the food. The first animal that approached our wagon came right by me (I guess he saw my cup) and I still FREAKED OUT! Of course, having to set the example to all of the little ones staring at me with huge eyes, I composed myself and poured, but OMG! I was like AAAAHHHH!!!!! Then everyone started getting in on it and it was so much fun!!!! We actually had this long-horn cow that followed us the entire trip around! It took an hour and a half and it was so much fun!
Looks like you guys had a good time :goodvibes

Do you ever feel like everything that NEEDS to be done keeps getting in the way of you doing what you WANT to do?????
I've felt like that for about a week or so now but getting time off for the holidays is almost worth getting paid about half of what my friends and family get paid. That's because I'm finally able to sneek in some Disney stuff!!! Yay!!!!!
So in between doctor visits, haircuts, computer problems, running back and forth to Hobby Lobby with more 40% off coupons, Christmas decorating, and Thanksgiving plans, I've managed to make a few shirts. Almost done now!!!
Here is one of our Anniversary shirts . Jessica did this beautiful design. The kids will be wearing thier Mickey/Minnie shirts the day we wear these.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_0222.jpg
This shirt is my FAVORITE one. I have one for my husband also.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_0220.jpg
We plan to wear these in Epcot the day we do Candlelight Processional. I plan to have us wearing black long sleeve shirts underneath with Santa hats.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_0218.jpg
I'm not quite finished with shirts. Need more transfers and might have to rethink our pirate shirts and Tink shirts but I hope to finish in the next couple of days.
I did have to take time to decorate for Christmas the last couple of days. We usually decorate on Black Friday (no fighting crowds for me) but Saturday we are hosting my godchild's 1st bday party. We didn't want to feel rushed or have boxes down and in the way so we decided to decorate early. In our old house, we could really do any color and for the last few years have chosen to decorate in blue, silver, and white which was beautiful. BUT the new house colors really clashed with our decorations AND hubby (last year) decided that our 7 ft tree would look like a dwarf with our 12ft ceilings. Soooo he bought a 9 ft tree on sale after christmas last year. The challenge was to now fill a 9 ft tree with new decorations. Because of our color scheme, we figured we should do red and gold. I knew what I WANTED but I'm no Martha Stewart. So, I made my DH call his half sister to help. She's just got a knack for crafty stuff and an eye for pretty things. She showed up and taught me how to make bows and even brought more ribbon because you know I had no clue how much ribbon it took to tie bows. :lmao: Anyway, I had poinsettas, some ribbon, some bulbs and picks, and an idea. She helped me tie it all together (literally) and here is the finished product! Hope you like it!
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_0206.jpg
And a close up:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee52/melaniefolse/Disney09/IMG_0215.jpg
Next to do:
finish washing clothes
finish cleaning house before family shows up for Thanksgiving
cook for Thanksgiving
buy more transfers
finish these gazillion shirts I decided to make for this trip
adjust our last trip's packing list
finish my iten pocket cards
print ADR invitations and mousekeeping envelopes
wrap presents to make room in my closet
buy any travel items I ran out of
secretly start packing!!!
I might have more but that's all I can think of right now!
See you real soon!!!!
Happy Saintsgiving!!!:rotfl:

The tree did come out great as well. I would've love to have seen the other tree as well.
I'm sitting...for now. I'm finally getting through last week's laundry!!! :lmao: Last batch in the dryer! Woohoo!
Feeling nostalgic and looked for a pic of our old house with our old tree. Couldn't find a good pic of the tree but it's in the background of this pic. As you can see we really took a different directions this year! :-)

Thanks! Go see Maize (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2250415&page=41)! I linked his thread to his last page cuz he is in the process of opening a new one. He should be up and running after Thanksgiving and you can always pm him in the meantime. He does great work and I LOVE his cars designs as well as his football/mickeyheads.
I like looking at everybody's list also. Keeps me on track! :thumbsup2

DisneyMom that is one super cute tree. I am so happy for you that you're going to spend your Christmas in Disney. There is no better christmas present. It's more special that it will be a surprise for the kids. I also want to say:
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY:wave:

Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I can honestly say that even though I loved seeing all of my family, I am plum worn out!!!! We stayed VERY busy before Thanksgiving running around with doctor appointments, haircuts, errands, and general preparing for turkey day. We had family over for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. Friday was back to "work" as we took the final boxes out of the attic of our old house and then had my sister's family over to decorate the cake for my godchild's first birthday which we were hosting on Saturday. The guys also decided to hang xmas lights and the girls made a quick run to Old Navy for jeans while they were on sale. My neice (6 years old - bday boy's sister) wanted to sleep over and my brother asked me to watch his two boys (2 years old and 5 months) for a couple of hours (about 8am - 10am) this morning. So my day started early with 5 kids and prepping for the 2pm bday party which was lovely. My sister's family stayed to help clean up and we ordered pizza for supper. All of a sudden, the allergies that started yesterday from the attic stuff were really kicking my butt. Yuck! Headache, sneezing, took medicine and excused myself for 20 min to lay down. I felt much better after that. Finally got the kids in bed around 10pm. Whew! Now I REALLY need to get down to some Disney work!!!! I realized with great excitement and anxiousness that we are leaving in 19 days!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
Because I was way too tired to do anything physical, I decided I needed my itinerary pocket cards. I print this info on cards that can fit in my pocket, laminate them, and put them on a binder ring. Soooo convenient!!!! I finished them tonight and wanted to share with you. Feel free to give suggestions or point out any problems. The biggest pain in the butt was DHS!!!! Too many shows, too little time. I am trying to please my daughter and son as well as show my mother-in-law everything I can as this will probably be her last trip. I know that sounds morbid but she is 73 and she doesn't care to visit DW all that often. Physically, she thinks she won't be able to go back???
Anywho...here it is:

I have these really cute Tinkerbell designs that I originally planned to put on colored shirts. I recently figured out this wasn't going to work as I needed SOME of the white parts to be white (dark transfers) and SOME of the white parts to be clear (light transfers). I REALLY didn't want to have a big white glob on a colored shirt so I had a decision to make. I had white shirts to be used for our Pirate (non personalized but cute) shirts. I could scrap those and use DD and I's white shirts to make the Tinkerbell shirts. We all have some kind of pirate shirts anyway. OR I could do the pirate shirts and find two more white shirts somewhere for our Tinkerbell designs.
As I am running out of time and with the busy shopping season, I just decided to scrap the pirate shirts. So here are my last shirts. I'm so glad to be done and can now start with my packing list. :thumbsup2

Since our trip is a surprise and all the holiday stuff going on, I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something. I've gone over my checklists and my DH keeps telling me we didn't forget anything. I guess I'm in the habit of talking about the trip with the kids that it's different this time so that must be it.:confused3
Your tree looks great! Congrats on the new house also. My DH put up the outside lights this weekend. My boys and I will put up the tree tonight while watching the Saints beat the Patriots!!! 11-0!!!!!!

We are actually leaving in 8 days!!!
Here's where I've been: Last week/weekend/beginning of this week was BLAH! Everyone but me was sick with Bronchitis (DH, DS, DD, and DM-inlaw) with my DD having the possibility of having to go to the hospital!!! I'm still paying on her last hospital visit for asthma/bronchitis, etc. :headache: I brought both kids back to the doctor Friday and my DH also went to the doctor. All on antibiotics, cough medicine, oral steriods, breathing treatments.....Finally, it seems like they are getting better - not great - but definitely better. I think we have avoided the hospital, but for a while I was thinking "OK well if she HAS to go in, we need to do it quick before we leave for Disney!" I kept reminding DD to take care of herself, not get overheated, etc. but I couldn't tell her WHY it was sooo important to try to get well soon! Ugh!!! I was just starting to feel good about everyone feeling better when I noticed the tooth that I JUST got a filling in was sensitive and rough. A piece of my filling broke off!!! Man! Now, I have to go to the dentist before we leave so I can eat a Dole whip at Disney otherwise I would be in pain and I ain't missin' my Dole Whip!
So my crazy life continues. This week will be a challenge trying to wrap up all the loose ends for the trip (in secret) and of course, with the holidays comes Christmas concerts, church activities, and have to see Princess and the Frog before we leave!!!! ;)
What I've been doing for Disney:
Worked on my pocket/itenerary cards :-)
Updated my binder
Last night, packed our travel toiletries (yay!)
Got suitcases down from attic
boxed up neices and nephews Christmas presents - now I need to wrap (not actually a Disney thing but has to be done before we leave)
Got info on boarding our doggy (never did before)
Bugging DH to get the van checked out before we leave
Sent a few pairs of pants to get hemmed (so we can pack them)
Spoke to DD's teacher about trip, wrote a note to DS's teacher about trip
Still to do:
Pack more (of course)
Go to dentist :headache:
Finish Christmas wrapping, etc.
Get camera/stuff ready for trip
last minute shopping (snacks, etc.)
Window decorations
Make surprise box
See Princess & Frog
Maybe more but hard to think at work!
I hope to update later tonight with more.

Can you say "AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" 4 1/2 days til we drive away to the world!!!!!!! :cool1::banana::yay:
I have managed to squeeze in a few things for the trip.
* Printed, cut, and put my pocket itenerary cards on a binder clip (made one for DH and DM-inlaw, too)
* Created my window xmas tree - only a few things left to for our window decorations
* started packing the kids' clothes
* picked up a few more items for the trip
I'm still asking myself if I will actually be able to pull the surprise off and get everything packed and ready for this trip. I'm praying all goes well this weekend.
Can't wait to see Princess & the Frog tomorrow and the Saints on Sunday!!!

I am ALMOST THERE!!! 2 1/2 days before we leave!!!
Saturday, we watched Princess & Frog. Absolutely a beautiful movie with wonderful music and lots of emotion. I had lots of chuckles because some of the cultural references were so dead on. What I don't particularly care for is that in EVERY movie I've seen (maybe there are others I haven't seen) "us Cajuns" are always portrayed as bumbling idiots. It's a good thing we have such a good sense of humor and can usually laugh at ourselves and the way we are portrayed. My FAVORITE one liner from the movie is when the frog prince is telling Ray (the cajun firefly) that he is from a land far, far away. Ray responds, "May, Cha, you's from Shreveport!?" in a REALLY heavy accent. I just cracked up laughing. Shreveport is probably the furthest city in Louisiana from the swamps south of New Orleans (we live about 50 miles southwest of N.O.). I don't know why I thought that was so funny but I really enjoyed it and the whole movie. So familiar and such a good story.
The rest of my day was all about washing clothes and secretly packing. I'm just about done!!!:cool1:
Today, we watched our Saints beat Atlanta (barely) for a record of 13 - 0!!! Geaux Saints!!!:thumbsup2
My parents came over to see us before the trip and I got a few things done for Christmas since I won't be home until Christmas Eve. We wrapped all of our gifts!:santa:
Now I am making lists of last minute things to do.
I don't know how I'm going to concentrate on work for the next 2 1/2 days but I'm sure they will fly by!
My best friend texted me at 7:45am telling me she was boarding the plane to Disney World. She is sooo excited as this is her 1st visit!!!!! I've tried to help but not overwhelm her. I think she has a great plan in place and I know they will have a WONDERFUL time. I haven't heard from her yet but I'm hoping she lets me know how things are going. popcorn::
Good luck to my friends who are in the final days before their trips! :yay:

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you both have a wonderful trip as well!
So today, I got a few more things done:
Van checked (needed oil - glad I got it checked)
Food packed
costumes packed
bills written out and ready to be mailed
Mail delivery stopped during trip
1 more day of work done and better prepared to miss a couple days
More to be done:
teacher gifts - labeled and packed in bags - tonight
"Surprise" to be boxed and ready to insert balloons on Wednesday - tonight
Window decorations finalized (maybe a Home Depot trip tomorrow - weather has been soooo horrible!!!!)
1 more day of work to be totally prepared to be out
Wednesday:
Go to work as normal (must bring home small fridge for trip!!!)
leave about 11:30am
DH - bring dog to be boarded
pick up balloons for surprise
gas up
wrap "surprise"
load up van
set up video camera
pick up kids
Announce the SURPRISE
Leave for Disney!!!!!
I still cannot believe I'm only a couple of days away from my favorite place to be with my family. I'm so excited for my DS4 to be able to go on Soarin' and Test Track. He has wanted to go since his first trip last Mardi Gras - he was too small. I pray that we all have a wonderful trip free of accidents and illness. It's a small miracle we are even getting to go this year financially so I'm hoping that God continues to bless us. **M-in law went BACK to doctor - either a relapse or never got over her Bronchitis. Doctor says she should be fine to go to Disney but her energy level is not what it was before she got sick. I pray for her health and that she can enjoy this probably only trip to Disney with her only grandkids.
Good luck to everyone on trip chores!:yay:

AHH! Thanks!
Even as I am wrapping up the last minute things, I am really starting to freak out! I have anxiety over leaving for the week. All the things I was too excited to think about have all come down on me. I just need to calm down and know that everything will be fine. Even if they do call for rain Thursday during our MVMCP, we will still have a great time!!!! Even if I have to rent my m-inlaw a scooter, we will have a great time. Positive affirmations!

I will go back and check your itinerary.. Hope it is a magical time!! :goodvibes
