This is swap takes both time and money as part of your commitment- if you don't have enough of either please don't sign up- we want everyone who participates to end up with wonderful packages.

Rules:
1- you must have successfully completed a swap (this means your things got to the hostess on time- you might have them in but the swap is not due yet and that is acceptable)
2- you must send out your 1st box ($10 value) by Nov 15th
3- you must send out your 2nd box (reveal $20 value) by Dec 10th
4- you must get DC on each package you send
5- Please let me know if you are/are not willing to send internationally
6- If you have not swapped much before then please let me know what swap you have completed
7- Send in your questionaire by Monday Oct 19th at 8pm EST- I will send you your SS name and questionaire by Wednesday the 21st before 5pm EST (that is when I leave for my next Disney trip)

What happens:
you will answer the questionaire and pm it to me- I will assign you a secret sister and you will buy and/or make things for her. You will send off 2 packages to your sister- with a total value of $30 not including the postage and DC.

You in turn will receive 2 packages from your secret sister(someone else). Please try to use the questionaire to help guide you. Feel free to ask other questions on the thread and allow everyone to answer if you need to know other things about your secret sister or pm me to have me ask your secret sister a question.

Kids:
Kids will also play and can be scrappers or not- have them tell their likes and dislikes as well. We will not use their real names on threads- instead make up a screen name for them (they don't have to register). They will have the same money and mailing requirements as the adults.

Rebecca, thanks for putting this together. One suggestion, though, is that you migh want to add mailing address to the questionnaire so that nobody forgets to give that to you.:goodvibes

Rebecca, a question you had last year was:
"Are you willing to mail Internationally?"
I know that some are not, so you might want to add that.

Right now things are pretty easy- not to many sign-ups which is why I haven't posted the list- I am keeping it on paper here as I get each survey because if there are less than 10 people I don't want to make it too easy to guess who might be the secret sister to fast.

How about a couple more questions for everyone!

1. Who is your favorite Disney character?
2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme?
3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)?

DisneyIsTerrific
10-27-2009, 01:58 PM
I guess I should answer my own questions!:lmao:

1. Who is your favorite Disney character? Tigger has always held a special place in my heart.

2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? The main bathroom in my house is Mickey Mouse and his colors (red, black, yellow, white). I tried to do a theme in the kitchen & kitchen nook with blue gingham and cats, but it's added birds, dessert things, and some Disney things.

3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)? My Christmas decorations are a hodge-podge of stuff. I love all the themes. My kitchen nook does get decorated in a theme, though. It's done in an outdoorsy look with animals.

My answers:
1) Mickey, it used to change alot when I was younger but my heart has always had a place for the Mouse!:lovestruc

2) Year round, not really. Just whatever makes us comfortable.

3) Now your talking!
Front room looks like a Disney explosion and I want more! Also alot of Hallmark collected over the past 30 years, kids art, etc.
(We have a huge front room that we use for holidays and parties, etc)
Kids bathroom has a snowman theme
Hall bathroom has a Mickey theme, towels, decorations.

The Beast!!! :rotfl:

2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme?

My room is very "mod" - it's bright green & blue with white furniture and silver accents and ceiling.... Other than that, the only other "themed" room is our dining room that is themed to be a scrapbook store... :lmao:

3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)?

Anything goes - we have a lot of "candy" garlands with 12" foam candies on them, a Christmas village, etc.

I like snowmen though.

2. Our house is decorated with autumn colors (red, olive, gold). I have alot of black wrought iron...think tuscon style. We don't have a specific theme except for the kids bedrooms and DH's Corvette basement.
3. Our christmas decorations are kind of a hodge podge of collected items with home made kids stuff mixed in. We don't have a specific theme, but we usually do buy a few Hallmark ornaments each year.

Here are my answers

1. Who is your favorite Disney character? I would have to say Flounder. I do love Pooh bear also.
2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? We just redid our room and I love it. it is the first time in my married life that I have a matching room. Sage green and it even matches my bedspread. that is really sad as I am married for almost 14 years. We are in the midst of redoing room by room so we haven't decided on any themes yet.
3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)? We do decorate for the holidays, but not a particular theme. our tree mostly has hallmark ornaments and disney ones.

I hope this helps

1. Who is your favorite Disney character? Tinkerbelle, but Tigger is also popular in our house;)
2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? My dining room is also themed as a scrap store:lmao: Living room is themed as a DVD store:headache: Late FIL was an antique dealer so we have bits of old stock scattered about:rolleyes1
3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)? No specific theme, we don't do a huge amount of decoration as DH hates making marks on ceilings etc:headache: tree has a mixture of stuff accumulated over the years, including souvenirs of vacations (such as Disney:thumbsup2) and DS(9) loves anything to do with snowmen and penguins

And a couple in return:

My answers to Mazda's questions:

Do you like cooking/baking? Cooking I do because I have to, but I love to bake. Especially cookies. I go crazy baking cookies at Christmas. They aren't the prettiest cookies, but they sure taste good!

What place/country have you always wanted to visit? Oh, there are tons of places I'd love to visit. I want to go to Maine, California, Washington, Canada, and Australia. I've been to lots of European countries because my Dad was in the AirForce and we traveled a lot when he was stationed in Germany, but I'd love to go back to Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and England. My Mom is from England and I have family there, but I haven't been back there to visit in about 25 years.

I was going to answer these this morning, but my first package from my secret sister arrived yesterday afternoon. WOO HOO! I had a bit of a panic moment thinking I had messed up the dates and hadn't gotten mine out on time. :scared1: My sister must just be super organized and far more ahead of schedule than I am. I must tackle Halloween :wizard: and birthday this weekend before I can do my secret sister stuff.

1. Who is your favorite Disney character? Jiminy Cricket & the mouse
2. Do any of the rooms in your house have a theme? Not really
3. Do you decorate for Christmas with a specific theme? If not, what is your favorite Christmas theme (reindeer, candycanes, snowmen, angels, etc.)? Disney and, as my husband would say, the rest looks like Christmas threw-up in our house. There is Christmas stuff everywhere. It's the only holiday I decorate for, so I go a bit overboard.

Another option for the first package is to order products from one of the scrap sites that does secret sister packages- I know I used one last year- I will try and look for a couple later- if anyone knows of some than please post them here.

Best thing is to go with a site you already use (and have had good service with) and send them an e-mail asking if they can do this. I know ACOT and ScrapYourTrip do this service, not sure who else does - I used Amazon once but sent it to someone else to forward (and sent them the $$ for postage) as otherwise if I send stuff from here its a bit of a giveaway;)

My package arrived today filled with tons of goodies - a super cute frog punch, ribbon, brads, primas, stickers, an 8x8 DCWV stack, snowmen, and bath bombs! I'm sure I probably forgot something, but everything was amazing! A great end to a Monday. :hippie::flower3:

What's the earliest we can send out our December gifts so as to not reveal too early? What do you think, Rebecca?

I think any time after Thanksgiving would be fine- I would like to have all the 1st round packages confirmed before we send out the 2nd. Right now I need confirmation from either they sender or sendee on 3 of the packages. Either by pming me they sent the package and when or a post here that the package was recieved. I know there are a couple still in transit but 3 packages I am unsure about. I planed on pming the senders today but got caught having to pass oin some sad news to church members instead (a past pastor passed away last night). Soi I will work on checking on things tomorrow.

As far as I know mine hasn't arrived (I'm at work at the moment) - not sure if my SS knew about the time lag.

I'll send my second package tomorrow - it takes a good week or more (I don't want to leave it to after Thanksgiving as that's too close to the last Christmas mail date and the queues will be murder:scared1:) So my SS may get it early - or maybe not;)

That is fine! I know yours takes more time. I also know yours is on the way- your secret sister didn't realize the lag time but you should have it before our Thanksgiving(according to delivery information). I also know they are going to try and take that into account for your next package.

Ooooh! I'm all excited now! I thought it had arrived when I got home but it was magazines (I'd been waiting for Scrapbook trends to arrive and they've resent the 2 issues I should have had).

If my SS ends with a Thanksgiving instead of December package I apologise in advance! But I'd hate for you to get it AFTER Christmas - you'll see why ;)

 My package was waiting for me when I got home from work today!!!! Thank you Secret Sister!!!! It was a wonderful package and just made my day. I love the colors of Core-dinations you gave me and you are correct in that I rarely buy "girl" colors since I have a boy, but I do love them and will definitely use them for me!!!! So, I got a bunch of core-dinations papers, lots and lots of stickers (princess, fall, scrapping, drama, etc.) a bunch of fibers and ribbons, and a chipboard castle book. I love it all!!!!! Thank you!!!:yay:

Banana got a nice surprise in the post yesterday. Her SS is on vacation and sent her a postcard from where she is. We both thought it was so thoughtful of you to remember her and her pc collection!
Thanks SS and hope you are having a great time and it does sound like it!

Hey ZTH! I have a turtle hatching in my kitchen!:goodvibes
Banana was thrilled yesterday when her package arrived. But she was watching my friends 2 yo girl and would follow her around so every time she would pass I would teasingly wave the box at her!:goodvibes
She finally got to sit down and open it and LOVED the orange tie! Which she has already worn. The postcards and orange themed papers were great too!
She is sending you a thank you note but wanted me to get on line for her!
At first she wasnt sure who you were and I told her a couple of things you made and then it connected!(Pirate Goofy, ATAT and Bella Note)
Thank you very much for being her secret sisiter!

Yay! I'm so glad she liked her things! I really went with the orange theme when I saw it was her favorite color.... and I just realized I totally forgot to get a postcard from Boston, so I'll send her one of those too the next time I go to school.

Did you guess it was me when you got the postcard from DC? I wasn't sure if I had told you I was going or not.

I had it narrowed down to 2 peeps, you and theres someone else from MA I think. OK, I check labels because Im nosey and altho it had Rebeccas addy on the first package it was still post marked, but she had no idea! And believe it or not I actually forgot to check mine so honestly no clue!
I used Rs addy too. Last year my DH was traveling to Ohio alot so he posted for me:goodvibes
Im thinking I might want to host this next year, if Bamb doesnt want it back and Rebecca wants to pass.
BTW< she loved the April page too!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Stephanie, you're the best! I seriously almost cried when I was looking through the box, there was so much awesome stuff in there! I would have been happy with just the first wrapped present of stickers!!!! But no, I just kept pulling red-wrapped present after red-wrapped present out!

I got stickers, stamps, a snickerdoodle cookies mix, flowers, inks, a really cute change tin (I love the phrase on it!), a gummi bear notepad, ribbon, gemstones and rhinestones.... on and on! And they ran the gamut from dog-related to disney to christmas to cupcakes! (And other things that don't start with Ds and Cs)

You're going to SDV this year, right? You're totally getting a huge hug!!! (Well, you would have anyway, but just pretend...)

Thank you to my wonderful Secret Sister, BearBear!!!!! My package was waiting on the doorstep when I got home last night and it was a great pick-me-up after a loooong day. What fun to see the Eagle Scout stickers, the packs of buttons and flowers, the big bag of chocolate, a gift card to J's, and the handmade cards. Wow!!! Such a great treat. Thank you so much!!!!

And, what a clever idea with the little chocolate card! I'm going to be scraplifting that.

Thank you Cindy for being a wonderful Secret Sister!!!!!

My second package just arrived from MickeyTeacher!
If memory serves me correctly, you host the embellishment swap each year.
And you should be known as the queen of embellishments because my package was just brimmong with all kinds of great embellies!
Packages of flowers (which I was really low on because Banana decided to decorate a pumpkin with brads and flowers on a real pumpkin this year not realizing that you really couldnt reuse them!), rhinestone embellies, brads, buttons, and a chipboard pack! If you combine that with what I got in my first package I dont need another embellie for a LONG time!

Thank you very much MT!:love::santa:
Merry Christmas!!:santa:
