we have some points to use up in our vacation club allowance before they evaporate and were going to add on a day to our aug vacation at one of the hotels (at the ridiculous high point rate). I dont see that the wilderness lodge hotel is listed for this purpose. any reason?????????

You can't use points to stay at any hotel that also has DVC villas (except for this month at Beach Club, since the villas opened earlier than expected).

First, welcome to the DIS!
Now to answer your question... None of the deluxe hotels with DVC properties attached are available for points rental. The basic idea is, since there's a DVC property right there and it's less points, you may as well use the points for the DVC. As each new DVC has opened, that resort has been taken out of the Disney Collection list. It happened with Boardwalk Inn when BWV opened, with Wilderness Lodge when VWL opened, and just recently they took Beach Club off when BCV opened (but Yacht Club is still available).

DVC points cannot be used at any of the resorts which have a DVC component in addition to the Disney resort. This includes BWI, WL and now BC.

I guess I don't understand your question, but I'll try. Do you mean that you don't see the WL lodge listed in the Disney Collection ? If that is your question, WL was removed from the Disney Collection when VWL opened. Same as BC when BCVs opened, and BWI when BWV opened.
