We are just back a week and yes valet parking is free at DVC resorts ( we stayed at VWL) and it came in handy at Boardwalk but we did pay the $6.00 at AKL ( not a dvc resort)
just a note though there was no valet parking at VB but we stayed in the inn and it was convenient to park underneath!
Valet parking is free for DVC members at WLV, BWV and BCV. OKW does not have valet parking.

OKW does not have valet parking.
;) Because it isn't needed. ;)
Because it isn't needed.
Please!!!!!!!!! Someone posted a question about free valet parking at DVC resorts and I merely posted which WDW DVC resorts have free valet parking!!
Unbelievable!

I appreciate the complimentary valet parking for guests with handicapped tags. Yes, I do tip both ways - when I leave the car & when I pick it up.

It was a wink -- a joke. And just a clarification as to why there isn't valet parking at OKW. I don't believe there is valet parking at HHI either.

Here's another question about the valet parking.
I know that if you pay for valet parking you get a pass for that day that is good for valet parking at all other WDW resorts for that day.
When we get the free parking at DVC resorts, does this also apply? For example, if you are staying at BWV, would you get a valet pass that would be good for valet parking for dinner at the GF? Or, would you have to pay at the GF?
For someone coming to OKW to eat at Olivias or to use the main pool or to shop in the store, they might very well like valet parking and the ability to just get in their car that was pulled up for them and nicely cooled rather than walking to their car and getting into a very hot, stuffy car. Just because you can park in a parking lot near your unit at OKW does not necessarily mean valet parking is not needed for those just coming to the resort for a meal etc. Some folks might appreciate this perk. Or do you mean that so few people would come to OKW for these reasons that valet parking is not needed? Just a joke. ;) ;) I enjoy eating at Olivias and find the food to be good and reasonably priced and a good place to stop for a late lunch on my way to DTD. I also like the store at OKW and find some very nice clothing items and gifts there.

for some people , they just like to post . for what ever reason. sometimes its silly stuff...I dont think they are being mean,, dave:cool:
DeeP,
I understand your point, but the self-park lot for Olivia's and the store are just steps away - literally - unlike the lots at the other DVC resorts. As far as the hot stuffy car? Well, you got me there. That's just something we learn to live with in Florida...
And, FWIW - you won't find a "more fair" poster on these boards than PamOKW - I seriously don't think she meant anything malicious with her post!
Oh and one more thing - back to the subject at hand. Don't forget, once you <i>do</i> pay your $6 to valet at one of the non-DVC resorts, you can ask to a tag to hang from your windshield mirror that will allow you to valet at the other non-DVC resorts free of charge for the rest of the day - nice if you're spending the day resort-hopping... HTH.

Beth, do you know whether valet parking at the DVC resorts is transferable to the non-DVC resorts? The same thing you describe about the hang tag but starting with the free valet. My guess is that it's not, but I thought I'd ask.

PamOKW,
There is no valet parking at HHI. Parking spaces are right out front of the units or underneath the buildings.
Beth,
I was only joking, I know how far the parking spaces are to Olivias etc. I love to walk all around WDW and the walk from the parking lot to Olivias is nothing compared to some of the hikes I take while at WDW!
BTW, the free valet parking at the DVC resorts is not transferrable to other non DVC resorts. This what I was told in May when we used valet parking at BWV and then were going to GF.
DeeP's right. I don't think they give you a tag when you valet at the DVC resorts as a DVC member - so you couldn't "carry it over" to the other resorts.

Thanks guys. I figured it would be at least $6 per day at another resort but thought I'd check.

What about if you are not staying on points? Do you get free valet parking at DVC resorts just based on membership or do you have to be staying at DVC resort on points to get free valet? DH asked this question last week while we were at CB. I told him you have to be staying on points, but actually I'm not sure.

You do not have to be staying at a DVC resort on points to take advantage of the free valet parking. Just being a DVC member qualifies you for the free valet. Of course, tipping is always appropriate.

We just returned from VWL. Free or not, we still paid the valet who helped us out with all our luggage and groceries. To me, these guys "turned to" with helping my family and me return home... they deserve the tips. I think they are the least appreciated of all the cast members - just my opinion and observance of others.

CarolMN,
Are you sure about getting free valet parking as a DVC member even if not staying on points? Most other privileges are not available at the DVC's unless you are staying there. Do you mean staying at a DVC on a cash basis and being a member entitles you to free valet parking?

DVC members can valet park at DVC resorts free even if you are not visiting WDW. Have done it in the past to eat at resort. Just showed DVC card to guard and valet and told them why we were going to the resort.

I've used dining discounts on the DVC list when not staying on points by showing my member card.

Yes, I'm sure. It does sound too good to be true, though, doesn't it? Nevertheless, as the others have posted, DVC members get free valet parking at BWV, VWL & BCV even if they are not staying at WDW. My understanding is that our annual dues help to pay the cost of the service. And again, a tip is always appropriate!

Wow! Thanks Carol, that's great news. Now I just have to find a way to tell my husband I was wrong. It's not something I like to do very often. Upsets the balance of the universe. ;)

I can verify that we have valet parked for free many times when staying on points. We use this a lot to go visit the Boardwalk--that one is definitely a long walk. All you do is show your DVC card.
Coastie, I think most people are talking about saving the $6.00 parking fee, not in any way referring to not tipping the guys that actually park the cars. I think non-DVC'ers pay the $6.00 and then tip on top of that. We just tip when we drop off and then again picking up. I agree that they work hard for their tips and probably don't make much else in wages over and above the tips.

CarolMN,
Thanks for the info. I did not know that. I'll remember it for the next time we stay at WDW at other than DVC on points, if that ever happens. ;)

My comments were to answer the question about parking free at DVC resorts when not staying on points. I am sure a tip is always appreciated by the valet CM.

ralphd,
I know you did not mean that tips are not necessary. I would not think of not tipping those people who have to retrieve those cars in the HOT and HUMID Florida! The good news is, when you don't have to pay $6 for parking, the tips can be larger. :D

Comprendo Paul. :) :)
It usually costs me around $6 anyway. Normally tip CM's about $3 to park and retrieve the car.

Here is a thread to the same question I posted some time ago before the opening of BCV. If you read thru the thread someone quotes from the Vacation Magic with this explanation about DVC parking. Hope it helps.
