Is there such a thing as too much Disney? Well we are about to test that theory with our upcoming 30 day trip from Melbourne Australia to the USA.
DL, WDW and Disney Cruise all in one trip?

The Cast

Me 43 CFO who loves Disney (Sometimes more than the kids). I manage to source out the local Disney park whenever I can when travelling.

DW 40 Teacher who is a late bloomer to all things Disney. Convinced her to take 2 DD to DL and WDW in 2007 and since then she has been bitten by the Disney bug.

DD 10 who is very quite and conservative and scared of most of the Disney rides. She even cried as we sent to the Haunted Mansion last time until she got on the ride and saw there was nothing to be scared of. Hated BTM but then again so did DW.

DD 6 who is exact opposite of her sister. Was not pleased when she missed a number of rides in 2007 due to height limits. This time she has measured herself and is ready to ride them all.

Supporting Cast

DW best friendís husband has a conference at WDW and heard we were going back and asked if we wanted to wait and go with them. We were going to go Christmas 2009 but will now wait till September 2010 to go with them.

DH is 40 Finance Manager at a private school in Melbourne and is excited as I am to be going and has been planning for months.

DW is 39 Librarian who is more laid back but is excited all the same.

They have 2 DD around the same age as our 2 DD who go to the same school and in the case of the youngest are in the same class.

The Itinerary

Fly out of Melbourne on Sunday 12 September 2010 at 10.30am and arrive LAX Sunday 12 September 2010 at 8.30am. I love how we arrive before we leave.

12 Sept 2010 to 18 Sept 2010 Grand Californian
18 Sept 2010 to 21 Sept 2010 New York (Not sure where we are staying yet. Any suggestions?)
21 Sept 2010 to 3 Oct 2010 Wilderness Lodge
3 Oct 2010 to 7 Oct 2010 Disney Cruise
7 Oct 2010 to 12 Oct 2010 Grand Floridian

Fly out of Orland on 12 Oct 2010 to LAX and that night to Melbourne arrive in the am on 14 Oct 2010. (loose a day flying home)

Gees I am getting tired just looking at the itinerary. But we are all excited.

Now all I have to do is to start booking it all and pay for it. Thank god the Aussie dollar is so strong it will save us thousands.

I will update shortly as we make our bookings and ADR decisions.

Having a good old fashion BBQ this weekend with our Disney companions to compare itineraries. I know thye have to be in WDW at the end of Septemebr for a conference and are keen on the cruise.

They were considering flying into San Francisco instead of LA and we would meet up with them in Orlando.

I hope the weather clears up a little bit it has been raining here for the past few weeks as we get our spring rains. Considering we have been in a drought for over a decade and our water storage was below 30% I shouldn't complain too much about the rain.

Our 2 DD's are excited about getting together and planning the trip with their friends. This will be our friends first trip to WDW so they are super exicted.

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hopefully I can start booking our accomodation next week and the flights soon after. Unfortunately can only book 330 in advance for flights in Australia (not sure if it is the same elsewhere)???

The weather was superb over the weekend and had a lovely BBQ. Way too much food, our Disney Travel Buddies will be eating leftovers for a few days.

After many hours of discussions with the website handy along with calendars we have all finally settled on out itineraries.

Ours has changed slightly at the backend:

12 Sept 2010 to 18 Sept 2010 Grand Californian
18 Sept 2010 to 21 Sept 2010 New York (Not sure where we are staying yet. Any suggestions?)
21 Sept 2010 to 3 Oct 2010 Wilderness Lodge
3 Oct 2010 to 7 Oct 2010 Disney Cruise
7 Oct 2010 to 13 Oct 2010 Portofino

The reasoning is simple whilst we are at WDW we can spend all our time there and after our cruise we can do all the non-disney things such as Universal, Sea World and a trip out to Kennedy Space Centre.

Also thinking about going straight to the Space Centre after we get off the cruise before heading to the Portofino.

The supporting acst are travelling from Melbourne to San Francisco a few days after we arrive in LA. We will meet up in NY and travel to WDW together and then the cruise and stay a few days at Universal Studios with us before heading back.

Now that is all finalised I started booking everything. In the end used Dreams Unlimited and a lady called Dagny, who has been great.

Booked so far:
Standard Room at Grand Californian with a 5 day park hopper pass
Courtyard/Pool View at Wilderness Lodge 10 day park hopper pass with water parks etc and disney dining
A Category 3 suite on the DCL
Dr Seuss children's suite at Portofino

Thinking by this time we may want a bit of space.

Just need to book New York and our flights and transfers. DW cousin is a TA just moved back to Australia from London and he is booking the flights with his discounts for us, hopefully that will save us some money.

OK, I'm back. The kids are in bed. I can now concentrate.

That is alot of Disney! :woohoo: We're a travelling group of 4 families all with young children. Initially doing WDW just before our Panama Canal cruise until we saw the crowd calendar. So now heading straight for Orlando first, going to New York for christmas, with a short stint in Washington DC before heading back down to Orlando to catch the Wonder to LA. Unfortunately, we won't have time to do Disneyland as well before heading home.

Would be really keen to hear about your dining choices at WDW and accommodation at NY.

Nice to see someone else planning so early as well! And as I've said multiple times before...GO THE AUSSIE DOLLAR!!! :yay:

Thanks for the reply Shushh :cool1::cool1::cool1:.

Here here on the AUSSIE DOLLAR.

We are thinking about locking the rate in by buying som US$ on an ANZ travel card. Only costs $11 and you can lock in a rate when you think it has maxed out.

If the dollar is higher when you go simply use you main credit card when you travel and cash out the US$ when the rate comes back down.

Thanks for teh reply Jenvenza.

Well our travel buddies are really keen at the moment. The other night the DH rang me 4 times in half an hour to disucss their bookings.

The next day he rang at work to discuss prices.

When we were comparing TA prices with that with WDW direct we go totally confused. First we were $2K cheaper then $1K dearer. Finally got it worked out soemtiems when you change one of the options other options can also change.

After e few nervous moments I allayed both our fears and confirmed the TA prices were exactly the same as we could get with WDW. Phew!!!

Spoke to my wife's cousin this week to book our tickets from Melbourne to LAX. For some reason they can only book 330 days out but Qantas will sell earlier direct to the public. Anyway a few weeks and I can get the corporate rate with him and apply for an upgrade using our points.

Also thinking this week of upgrading to the delux dining package considering the restaurants I think we will want to go to. No rush I can sleep on that one.

That sounds like a terrific vacation:thumbsup2
I was curious. Is it typical to get that much vacation time or does it depend on your position with the company?
I have noticed that visitors from overseas tend to spend more vacation time but was not sure if that was because of staying longer due to the expense of getting to the states and "making the most" of your money.
TIA

Hi 4forWDW,

Here is Australia you generally get by law 4 weeks paid leave each year. If you do not use it during the year it can accrue until you need it. A company can force you to take leave to stop a build up but not unusual for somoen to build up months of leave. So it is not unsually for people to build up months worth of paid leave.

Also we get something called long service leave which is again is paid leave up to 13 weeks after a qualifying period of 10-15 years at the one company.

We are pretty well looked after I think.

You're right we do tend to say if we are going all that way we might as well stay a bit extra and cram a few more thing into the trip. Also given the stregth of the Aussie Dollar at the moment it make's the trip a little cheaper.

Sorry for taking so long to reply but I have been away for work in the USA. Got back a week ago but have been in bed sick with a ansty virus I picked up.

ANZ Travel card works just like a debit card. You place money on the card and it is converted to the currency you want int he case US$. You convert on the day you please the money on the card so you rate is locked in.

If you are worried about the rate falling you can place funds on the card and if the rate continues to go up and is higher when you travel don't use that card but your ordinary credit card. When you get back and the rate falls then cash the card in.

See this link on DIS Boards for more information

I have booked the flights and will update on how our plans are going soon.

Tickets are all booked and paid for, finally.

We are confirmed on Qantas Flight Melb to LAX on the 12 Sept 10 which is a direct flight. Departs Melbourne at 10.15am on the 12th and arrived 7.30am in LA on the 12th. Wow just gained almost 3 hours.

We then are on a Qantas flight to NY on the 18 Sept leaving LAX at 9.15am and arrives at JFK at 5.30pm. So much for gaining 3 hours.

Then from NY to Orlando flying American Airlines on the 21 Sept leaving at 3.10pm and arriving at 6.15pm.

Then we are on a cruise for 4 nights starting the 3rd October.

Then flying back to LA from Orlando on American Airlines on the 12th October before getting on a Qantas flight back to Melbourne leaving at 11.30pm that night and arrive back in Melbourne 8.55am on the 14th Oct.

All those flights have cost us just over AU$11K which is approx US$10K.

The reason we chose those airlines is to use the lounges. Pretty handy when you are waiting for flights especially with young children.

Thanks DWGal the whole family is so excited.

Last weekend we started look at restaurants both at DL and WDW for our ADR's. The whole family was crammed into my home office as we looked at the menu's of just about every restaurant. As we are spending 6 days at DL and the choices are more limited we were able to complete our choices pretty quickly but we barely scratched the surace when it comes to DL.

I still have to book a hotel in New York. Hopefully get to that over the Christmas break. But the rest of the accomodation is confirmed. I have made some minor changes since first posting.

12 Sept 2010 to 18 Sept 2010 Grand Californian (Park View room)
21 Sept 2010 to 3 Oct 2010 Wilderness Lodge (Pool view)
3 Oct 2010 to 7 Oct 2010 Disney Cruise (Category 3 suite)
7 Oct 2010 to 12 Oct 2010 We changed to the Portofino and booked a Dr Seuss Suite.

When we were looking on the net my 2 DD loved the idea of the Dr Seuss theme. So I booked it as a surpirse.

We are thinking that whilst at WL we will pretty much do 100% dusney and then at the Portofino we can do Universal and Sea World. After docking after the cruise we are planning on driving our to KSC and spending the day before heading back to Orlando and the Portofino.

We are also meeting up with friends in NY who we will then travel with to WDW and the cruise. So it will be great for the grils to have their friends with them for part of the trip.

Anyway its Christmas eve morning here in Australia and I am about to start work so Merry Christmas to all DISer's and a happy and safe New year.

Best Wishes from Down Under

Hi, your trip sounds like a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

My DH, and 2 boys (12 and 8) and I have just returned from 6 weeks in the US, most of which was spent at Disney.

We left Brisbane (with Qantas) and flew straight through to New York (4 hours stopover at LAX). We spent about a week there, before going by bus to Washington DC. We chose the bus as (a) we wanted to see some of the countryside and (b) didn't want the hassles involved with flying.

After 4 days in DC (which was about 3 1/2 days too long IMO) we flew to Orlando for 2 weeks at WDW. It was our first visit there and within hours I was planning a return trip in my mind, lol. (Hopefully Dec 2010, but we'll see).

We only did one non Disney day and that was to Kennedy Space Centre, which was/is a great place to visit. Next time I'd like to spend 3 weeks in Florida - 2 weeks at WDW and one week elsewhere to visit Universal, Miami, etc.

From there we went back to NY for 2 days before picking up our connecting Qantas flight to LAX. We spent 1 night in LA before moving to Anaheim.

In Anaheim we spent 5 nights at Disney's Paradise Pier, 6 night at Desert Palms, and 4 nights at the Disneyland Hotel. The only one of those hotels I'd stay at again is the Desert Palms. It was fabulous - great staff, location, room (suite) and price. Without a doubt, the Disneyland Hotel is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in, anywhere in the world (dirty, noisy, shabby, overpriced, and the overall "feel" was a complete contrast to what we had experienced at WDW). :sad2:

The dining plan at WDW is fabulous and I had a great time looking through the menus and planning where to eat. (We were so lucky in that we scored free dining!! We had already paid for it but it was refunded before I even had a chance to ask about it. That saved us about AUD2000! :cool1:).

We did about 10 character meals at WDW, but only 1 at DL (Lilo and Stitch), plus the birthday party thing (DS turned 9) at the Plaza Inn with Minnie and Mickey, which was nice.

I think planning is half the fun and I hope you enjoy finalising your trip over the coming months. :)

Yes the countdown is on the computer 28 days to go.

DH & DS are very excited. I am just confused as to what clothes to take as we have always gone during summer over there. But I'm looking forward to the shorter wait time on rides.

We are thinking of going to Universal. the boys are planning to see the shuttle launch in the beginning of FEB, fingers crossed there are no more delays. :worship:

We had a look at the new Hawaii resort on utube - someone had just posted new footage of the new buildings. Its looking like its going up quickly.
It's going to be so much closer to us for a little bit of Disney Magic.

Dollarmite your trip sounds fantastic. Sad to hear that DLH is so bad but I may be wrong but it is being refurbshed from top to bottom. May be a little overdue???

We are also hoping for free dining to apply when we go in Sept/Oct. It seems to be a regular occurence each year around that time so we have our fingers crossed.

We were thinking about stopping off in Washington for a few days. I was there a few years ago and loved it. In the end we just found it too hard to fit it in especially when we are meeting friends at WDW.

I must agree I think planning the trip is half the fun. Especially when the whole family is involved. We often sit around the computer as a family whilst we planned out our hotels and ADR's. Our 2 DD's main concern with hotels was the pool. Didn't matter if the room was the size of a postage stamp as long as the pool had a great slide.

Good luck on the shuttle launch. I am a big space nut and this time we are heading out to the KSC. I would die to see a shuttle launch, I would settle for seeing the shuttle sitting on the launch pad.

What is the new Hawaii resort??? I have not heard about it. I did hear a few new resorts being uilt at WDW but thought they were non disney resorts?

Oh forgot to mention we finally books our New York accomodation. We booked a suite at The Muse which is just off Times Square. Close enough to enjoy and far enough away to avoid the noise.

The reviews on Trip Adviser seemed good and the photo's of the hotel looked great. I know sometimes they can be decieving. I remember one trip we took. We booked a 4 star hotel for a trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. Our first with our eldest daughter at the time who was 1 and 1/2 (For those not familiar Melbourne to Adelaide is approx a 10 hour drive so we decide to break up the trip with a stop half way). The photo's on the net looked great. When we got there the place was a dump.

We checked in thinking how bad could it be we only had to stay one night. Well the inside was worse than the soutside. The bed looked like it was 50 years old sagging in the middle with grease stays on the linen.

We put our DD on the ground and within 5 minutes she was flithy from the carpet. We washed her off and packed up the car and drove on to adelaide and ended up staying at the Hyatt for the night.

Anyway given the reviews on Trip Adviser I am confident The Muse will be fine. I also remeber seeing it on a Sam Brown special and she gave it a good review as well.

Thnak god that is the last of the accomodation to be booked. All I have to do now is the easy part ADR's :laughing::laughing: and airport transfers.

Tink thanks for the link. Will have to keep it in mind. Our DD have been on me for ages about going to Hawaii and to be honest I would love to go myself.

It great to finally be in the year we travel now the real count down starts. What are significant milestones to the countdown??

For us we started planning early so we have had or will have the following

1 year
9 months
Same year
6 months
3 months
1 month
Then we switch to days.

Last time we went we had a disney calendar I made and the girs marked off each day. Each day had a different disney character so 28 days was Bambi Day, day 14 was Cinderella. Obviously the day we left was Mickey Mouse day. The girls loved it and it became a lit of a ceromonial event each morning over breakfast taking it in turns to mark off the days.

Not sure how to top that one this time or just do the same thing. Anyone have any ideas??

We are having a BBQ this weekend to discuss our ADR's for our trip. For those of you shivering in the US it is a warm 90+ degrees here in Melbourne today and for most of this week.

Our family sat down a few weeks ago and picked out all the must do restaurants and other favourites. This included about 3 or 4 character meals for our 2 DD's.

We are lucky our friends we are treavelling with also have 2 DD the same age as our girls. Makes planning a lot easier.

One thing became apparent I need to upgrade to a DDP.

Got some good feedback on countdown ideas from another post of mine.

If you have any other ideas please let me know.

Wow - I thought I was doing a lot of Disney, staying for 3 weeks in Orlando! You take the cake!!! :lmao:
Your trip sounds great - I was hoping to do a cruise this time, but the dates just didn't tie up at all with other things planned. Perhaps next time...
I'm looking forward to hearing what ADR's you get - I have only made a few - hopefully the crowds in May won't be too bad so we'll be able to make some ADR's while we are there.
Enjoy your planning - I love this bit almost as much as the actual trip!!!
I'll be keeping my eye on your PTR - keep the plans coming.

I'm in.

Congratulations DizOz!! 4 weeks of Disney. I don't know whether to be envious or :rotfl2:. Nope. It's definitely envy. The most we've ever done is about 2.5 weeks where we did 2 weeks in Orlando and then followed it up with 3 days in Anaheim. I think breaking it up with a cruise would be just the extra cream on top.

Can't wait to hear about your ADRs and to see what restaurants you've booked into. I too enjoy living vicariously through other people's plans.

You might want to check out the Wishes Dessert Buffet at MK. The news on the boards is that bookings open around 28 Mar. Might be worth booking in for the experience on watching Wishes from a position that you don't have to stake out for 1-2 hours in advance.
Are you going to book a pontoon specialty cruise at Epcot at 8 pm? Weather permitting, it will coincide with Illuminations.

Hi there dizoz, we are going to be in WDW on the 21sept-3rd October:cool1:. We are a family of five plus my mother in law so six going. My self my husband and our three kids. Ages 11,7 and 3. How did you go going through and American travel agent. Were they any cheaper than going through disney direct?
I noticed you are going to stay in the grand californian at disneyland. We stayed there last year and LOVED it. Make sure you do the tressure hunt with your kids. We won a lovely night on the conceirge level for dinner drinks, free food etc. They gave us these ballons and mickey cookies:lovestruc:lovestruc. Oh I love disney. It is so nice to meet other like minded Aussies. There isn't many around:confused:We booked a standard room as I noticed you have. Just before we left I sent disney a email explaining our reservation and how special it was for us to be coming all the way over from Australia. Anyway they upgraded our room to a down town disney view!!!:wizard:It was just magical. We sat on the veranda at night and watched the fireworks while the kids were in their pjs:cutie:If you put your tv at the same time on the special channel the music to the fireworks comes on.:dance3:We loved the grand californian and we are planing on staying there for our last night in USA. We are going to hire a car after we return to LAX on the 3rd October and do yosmite national park etc we will have 10days to fill in just driving around and exploring:hippie:Lets hope it all goes o.k! But I said to my hubby please we have to go back to the grand californian for our last couple of days and he agreed. Just magic:lovestruc:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thum bsup2

Kyl,

Must agree we stayed at the Grand Cal last time but ay to short (2 nights) on our way to WDW. This time much longer.

Thanks for the tip on the email and treasure hunt, will try that this time. What email address did you use?

We have found the Amercian TA to be excellent. The price is the same as doing it with Disney direct with the added benefit of them looking for discounts and applying for them automatically when they become available. Also they are doing all our dining reservations all for the same price.

We priced this and our last trip with Australian TA and the cost was over $1000 more expensive.

Hope you have a great time on your trip.

Thanks Alyss the days are going so fast now coming up to four months this week.

We had some good and bad news last week.

Firstly the bad, our TA Dagny at Dreams Unlimited quit. Unfortunate as Dagny has been wonderful with erevything she has done for us. Any waywe now have Kelsie and she has started with a bang.

Now the good news Kelsie managed to get us this week 2 discounts. The first was for our stay at GCH at DL we saved $860 and then we got the free dining for our stay at WL at WDW so we saved $1650. Not bad, a $2500 saving in a week.

Also we booked tickets to MNSHP for the 30 September.

MNSHP tickets arrived the other day. DD were really excited and wanted to pick their tickets based on the characters. A little bit disappointed when I told them no and I locked them away in our planning folder.

Anyway I got more good news yesterday. I was a bit concerned I had not had a confirmation email of our reservation at Portofino. This dispite emailing them twice and ringing them once still nothing. So I went on their website yesterday and saw there was a login.

I thought I would chance it so input my email address and usually password and our reservation poped up. The big surprise was the price had gone down $560+.

So our discounts since booking everything is $3,000. What chance do we have getting one with DCL or our NY accomodation. I'm not holding my breath.

Countdown is now less then 4 months, wow time is flying by.

Time does fly!!
I wanted to thank you for giving the information on how vacation is earned "down under". That seems like it was such a long time ago - which it was, I guess:)
In the US (from what I have experienced) you are doing well if you get 4 weeks per year - total.
We loved MNSSHP - It was so much fun. We really enjoyed the special parade and fireworks.
Thanks for posting - I really enjoy the updates and congrats on the discounts :thumbsup2

4forWDW, Thanks for the reply. I think we forget how lucky we are sometimes compared to others.

Anyway, another update:

Our DD's put together their coutdown chain over the weekend. It is a paper chain with dixney trivia on each link. There are 72 links so I hav to calculate the start date of the count down, pretty easy using excel.

We got it from a fellow DISer a few months back. I printed it out and the girls cut them all out and then stapled the links together. Once it was done we then had to figure out where to put it. It was over 10 meters long. In then end I drpaed it out the surround sound speakers on the wall in the back lounge room.

The girls marked it in the diary and the wait begins to start the countdown.

A few week back I was tempted to pay for the holiday but decided not to. Now I wish I had. The Australian dollar fell over 10% last week so just about all my discounts have evaporated. Anyway I will wait now and hope the dollar comes back up. If the EU ever gets it's act in gear we should be OK, I have a few months before I have to pay. Lesson is to never second guess your instincts.

Have finger, toes and everything else crossed for the Aussie Dollar. Sadly I think it is heading down further. Just goes to show that economics makes no sense when we have one of the strongest economies in the world right now bar China. Anyway no use worry about things I can not control.

Your trip sounds so wonderful!!:wizard: We will be at the Poly Sept. 17-26. We can't wait.

We've gone every Sept. for years now. It's just DH (48) & myself (47)these days. Has been for 3 years now. We have a delightful time, as WDW is how we choose to celebrate our anniversary (22nd this year). I don't know where the time goes, but it has surely flown by.

I wanted to ask if you all had checked into the room only discount as opposed to free dining? We saved quite a bit more with the room discount. However, I realize there are only 2 of us & there are 4 of you. I must say, you are my kind of shopper. I try to make it a practice to never get anything that isn't at a great rate! :rotfl:

I wish you luck with the Aussie dollar. I myself am trying not to pay for our vacation just yet. I have the money now, but am hoping for a credit card bonus for travel. Every dollar counts :woohoo:. So, for now, I have tucked my savings away until I absolutely have to pay it. Even then I'll get the 1% back on my card, but hoping for more.

Have a lovely vacation, & maybe we'll bump into you in FL.

Tammy,

Thanks for your reply.

Hope you have a great trip and a happy 22nd anniversary. I couldn't think of a better place to celebrate such a lovely event.

I can not take any credit on the savings. All down to our TA she has been great. We ended up getting the Free Dining Discount even though we had already a DDP.

I think our dollar is heading down. Saw reports today it is likely to setlle at mid to high 70's. A far cry from the mid 90's a few weeks back. All because of the EU, I wish they would get their act together.

Some more good news yesterday. As you know we are heading to NY for a few days and my youngest DD is mad about the statue of liberty. We ran into our friends over the weekend who we are meeting up with on our trip and we started talkng about NY. So I got online and checked tickets to go up to the crown of the statue and they only had one timeslot left for the entire period we are there so I booked them straight away.

Got home last night and youngest DD was a little tired and emotional so I told her about the tickets. She went from tears to jumping around with a great big cheesey smile in less than a second.

With the dollar coming back up decided to take a punt and paid for the DL, WDW and DCL portion of out trip. So that means all the disney portions are locked in and fully paid.

Only have a few more things to arrange

1. DL dining
2. Activities on the cruise such as brunch at Palo's
3. Transfers
4. Tickets to a Yankees game. The boys are off for the night to watch a game whilst in NY.
5. KSC tickets, still not available for October as yet.

Well done! If the dollar holds up as it currently is, then you can lock in the higher rate for all the things left on your rate. If the dollar dips, then you're on pure cream! Either way - you've paid off Disney!

I have never seen the dollar bounce around so much. One day its up 2 cents the next its down 3 cents. As you say PrincessinOz we have paid off the diseny portion of the trip.

Today is a special day for our DD's as it is the day our countdown chain starts. 72 days until we leave so the girls get to remove one link after dinner each night until the last day.

I managed to book a van last week to fit the 8 of us so we can go from the cruise out to KSC for the day before we had back to the Portofino for the rest of our trip. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be trying to find a ca rhire place with locations close to DCL and US. When I did their system went down for 2 days. Anyway finally booked it with Hertz, which will make the drop off really easy.

Also booked a few things on the cruise as well. A brunch at Palo's on the 4th day at sea. Also booked activities for Nasau and Castaway Cay. At Nassau we are doing the Atlantis beach day and on Castaway Cay booked the extreme activites. So we do snorkling, stingrays and bike ride.

In a few weeks I can book our DL ADR's and then all that is left is our transfers and some baseball tickets. The boys are having a night out to see the Yankees whilst we are in NY.

Phew almost there.

We are about to buy Yankees tickets too. Are you going to buy them on Stubhub or through the Yankees website? We have found Stubhub to be great for concert and sporting tickets.

Which game are you thinking about going to? We are either going to 24,25 or 26 Sept. I think the last game would be awesome if it was a decider, however if it isn't a decider then they probably won't play their best players. Decisions decisions.

Your trip sounds amazing.

I was looking at a number of sites. Stubhub gave us a better choise of tickets so I have booked 2 tickets just next to the vistors dugout.

Less than a month now and everything is finally booked.

ADR's at both DL and WDW are booked. DCL, DL and WDW packages all paid in full, just have to pay for NY and Portofino at US.

Transfers all booked. Additional tickets and activities booked.

We have changed all our money got a great rate so can not complain about that. In the end we got a Travellex Cash Passport which can be used as a debit card or at ATM's to withdraw cash. Can even top it up on the Internet.

Our 2 DD's are really starting to get excited as our coutndown chain has really shrunk. From its original 72 links down to under 30.

The only thing I have to arrange is how we get to the airport. Usually we would pack up the 4WD and DFIL would drive us to the airport. But working for an environmental company felt compelled to sell the 4WD and replace it with a hybrid. So now us, the backage and DFIL won't fit. May have to book a limo to the airport, kids would love it.

Just got our disney DVD's from amazon.com. We can sit down this weekend and watch them to add to the excitement.

Dizoz, we are only a month away today as well!!!!! So exciting. Though you are going six days before us. The days are going slow now, although I seem to keep busy getting little things here and there that we will need. I ordered our DVDs on the 11th August and paid for the faster shipping. Not the top level just the middle level shipping but still not here. Maybe today although they did say not to expect it until the 3rd sept? Which seems very far away atm!

You have a fantastic trip planned! How Exciting. We too stayed at GCH in December for two weeks and it is just amazing. We had a theme park view in the new wing (the DVC wing) and it was just fantastic. Love that hotel!

This trip we are in NY from 14th to 21st Sept (we fly to Orlando on the same day as you), we are on the AA morning flight (I think it's 9am) and funny, we were flying home on the 12th Oct and were on the AA flight from MCO to LAX, so we would have been on the same plane, but we changed our return date to the 13th, same flights but a day later.

You have such a great trip planned, your family is going to have a ball pixiedust:

We are certainly looking forward to it. We tried to change of NY to MCO flight but was going to cost US$800 to change here in Australia. So we willt ry to chnage it once we get to the US.
