Hi,

we go to DLP in just over 2 weeks - so i thought I had better sort out some breakdown cover and the route!!

Can anyone help with a few questions please? Firstly what do people do about breakdown cover whilst in France? I only have basic cover with Green Flag at the moment - can anyone recommend a reasonably priced short term cover please? Do you think I should borrow a sat nav? Is the route from Calais simple? We are returning via Boulogne so need to sort that route too. We will change our money before we leave - but what about the toll roads? Can we pay with notes - or do we need change? Do you get travel sick on a ferry - I do sometimes on small boats - not sure about the ferry :scared1:

I need to check my car insurance policy - no idea whether that covers a trip to DLP!!!

I suppose I had better get busy then! I have noticed the new thread about the new cabins at Davy Crockett!! I have requested one near the pool - wondering now whether to be more specific - I know they cannot guaratee requests though so don't know if there is any point :confused3

Any tips gratefully received!!! Thanks for reading xx

The route is simple from Calais most of it is the motorway/toll roads. For the tolls they take notes. I even think they take Credit cards but not 100%.

I can't remember who I got my breakdown cover for europe, I just searched through google & got a good deal.

Definately check your insurance as many don't cover abroad unless notified.

You will also need for your car, a warning triangle, spare bulbs, high Vis jacket, GB sticker & headlight deflectors.

Try AA route planner or similar sites with have it. You may want to take a Sat Nav if you can get hold of one but still take a printed copy of the route.

Travel sickness is an individual thing. It also depends on the seas if its rough it tends to make people feel worse then normal. Just stand out on deck, I find that is best.

As tennisfan has answered all of your other questions I'll take this one :thumbsup2

We have just come back from the DCR and the two closest trails are Coyote and Tomahawk. You more than likely won't get on in Tomohawk as they are the one's being refurbed at the moment. We stayed in Coyote in 1501 which is the very first two bed cabin as you pull round the corner...an excellent cabin it was and only 3-4 minutes from the Village and less than 20 seconds from breakfast...infact from the Cabin window we could see when they opened (generally before 7:30) and be the first there everyday :rotfl:

On our last ferry trip July 07 OMG pretty much everyone was being sick !

Myself and my youngest son weren't .... my tip ??

Soon as you start to feel sick ,head down and stay there ! lol

even if you don't sleep,it will help you feel better

My son and hubby went out on deck thinking it would be better, erm no ! cue many people being blown about and then coming in and throwing up big time !!

Take some travel sickness tablets before you leave too :thumbsup2

The drive is a nice ,easy one
you can use notes or cards to pay for the tolls

Another little tip is to book early morning or late evening trips as the waves are *generally* smaller and they gradually build up during the day :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think our crossing is about 10am going and 5pm coming back. I think I better take some bags . My husbvand says it is all in my head ....................maybe it is. I was always fine on boats until a very rough fishing trip in Newquay. 4 hours of hell that was. Fingers crossed for a smooth sea then!! I hope we do get on the Coyote trail - that sounds ideal. It would be lovely to have a new cabin though!!
Thanks for all your help everyone!
