This will be my 3rd Disney Cruise.:yay: Ibmickey is my daughter. We had planned to take the September repo cruise from Barcelona, but over the past several months have come to the sad conclusion that we really could not aford to miss that much time from work:sad1:, or spend that much money in these ecomomic times:sad2:.
I am hopeing that there will be more people on this thread as the time for the cruise gets closer;). On our past cruises we have been able get to know several familes before we set sail:thumbsup2.
We are doing back to back cruises. we will follow this cruise with a 3day:cool1:, so that means we will have 2 trips to Nassau and 2 trips to castaway cay:woohoo:.
I plan to revisit these boards often, hope you will all do the same.

Me and family, dh, dd 10 and ds 7, are going and it'll be our 2nd DCL. I managed to get a few friends involved so in all there 10 of us that are very excited! I'm contemplating whether or not to do the dolphin swim or Atlantis. Anyone done either?

Hi everyone!! DD's school just notified us that they have changed the 2010-2011 school calendar to add a week's vacation in September. So, we've done what any good Disney lover would do and booked a cruise. We'll be doing the back-to-back with this cruise and the one on the 23rd (it looks like there are several of us going that route - LOLOLOL). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! :goodvibes

We did the dolphin swim in Tortola on our last cruise. It was fantastic. We booked it directly with them because the package we wanted was not available through Disney. I highly recommend it.

We too are contemplating Atlantis. Since we are doing the B2B, we will have 2 Nassau days but will only get off the ship for one of those days. I think, though, that instead of going through Disney for Atlantis we might book it ourselves by booking the hotel room. Will definitely have to research it. DD will be 6 and loves to swim but if the slides are such that she won't meet the height requirement, then we might skip Atlantis and just hang on the ship both days. Fun, fun, fun!

We havent booked yet but we have our eye on this cruise. I think maybe we'll be booking it this week. This will be our second cruise, but the first with Disney. I'm super excited:banana:
We have a DS 6 & DS 3. We did the Bahamas last time we cruised and I too am contemplating just staying on the ship instead of getting off at Nassau. Atlantis tickets are way too pricey and a lot of the other excursions are geared towards older kids. Not sure what to choose for a 3 year old.
Talk to you soon. Wish me luck on my booking! :thumbsup2

So we did it! We booked our first cruise as a family! We will be on this boat, in an inside stateroom! We originally thought about getting at least an oceanview, but we are only going to sleep and shower in the thing.
As far as Nassau is concerned, we plan on just forging our way past the initial wave of beggars and get to the downtown area. We are going to try to do a walking tour of the place and then head back to the ship. If it gets good to us, we may stay on the island for more than one or two hours.
But Atlantis? At THOSE prices? I'll pass. I'm going to do the jet ski tour thingy at Castaway Cay.

We actually did our own walking tour of Nassau when we cruised in 2007 and I was disappointed (that's why we were thinking about doing Atlantis). It is expensive for sure, but if we can actually make sure of our time in Nassau it might be worth it. I don't know - - we're still deciding. Since we will be going to the parks in December, I want to keep this cruise as cheap as possible, but still make it memorable. And, we will definitely be doing the jetskis at Castaway Cay. We did them in September, 2009 and it was sooooooo much fun. :thumbsup2

We are thinking about going to WDW after the cruise. If my MIL doesn't come with us, it will be more likely. If she comes, though, it will take more maneuvering.
Also, we live in Kennesaw, close to Acworth. We're driving down the night before. As a matter of fact, we'll be at the Walmart on Cobb Parkway getting rations around midnight. If you see a family of four, giggling- carrying water, sunflower seeds and candy... that would be us! (I drive all night long. I have the unique ability of driving all night, hang out all day and not getting sleepy until after midnight the next day.)

Wow, we are probably neighbors LOL. I drove by that Walmart today on my way to the post office to get DD's passport. We are planning to leave really early (5ish). We usually make it to WDW in about 7 or 7.5 hours so I'm hoping to be at the port early afternoon. Do you think that's cutting it too close?

Weird things happen on 75 South. That's why we're leaving at around 1AM or so.
I would rather be early than late. That way, if anything weird happens, we'll stll be OK. Plus, we'll probably get some breakfast and walk around to see the sights around town.
But it will be a Sunday, so you may be fine.

Welcome to the cruise. My daughter and I will be on this cruise, it will be our 3rd on DCL:cool1:. We Will not have any kids with us this time, but hope to for our next one. We are doing B2B curises this time because there wasn't a a 7 day available:sad1:.Cruising has become a goal in its self for us:worship:rotfl2:. We are hoping to be able to do some of the longer cruises in the future and maybe some from the west coast. Looking foward to having you as a member of the group.
I hope we will be able to arrange a meet for some time on the cruise so that we can put faces to the names. We will be flying in the night befor and staying in Port Canaeral at the Radisson Hotel. We have stayed here before and find it a good place to stay. They have a shuttle service to the port and you can arrange to leave your car in their lot for the time of your cruise if you are driving.

Booked Today  I am so excited. We have been debating doing a week long parks tour again or doing the cruise during DS fall break; DS took one look at the website and I really want to do that. So we are booked!!
We are thinking about driving down on Saturday night so we can be at the port early on Sunday and experience everything since it's our first ever cruise. Has anyone done this, and are there any hotels you recommend?

We have the same plan. We're leaving around midnight or 1 AM Sunday. It should take us about 8 hours to get there, so we'll be there around 9 AM or so. We'll hit the Wal-mart on the way and spend some time there. We might even get something to eat.
If you're going on a cruise and you're driving down the morning of, you won't really need a hotel room... unless you're going to stay there after your cruise. You can park at the port for $60 for the entire cruise. That's what we're doing. (And we might even surprise our kids by getting a few days in WDW.)

I am definitely considering a few days at WDW before driving back. I wanted to see if MNNSHP would be starting and all of us attend that?? Definitely in the air. I am still trying to get my bearings down with the cruise. First time, and so many questions. I am trying to hold myself back from going commando as I do at the parks, and remind myself the major reason we are doing the cruise is to have a more relaxing time.

Hello everyone!! I was wondering if anyone knew about a taxi tour service for Nassau. DD is to little to do Atlantis and she is to much of a daredevil to avoid the big slides, so I was thinking about just taking a taxi to see some of the water and just see Nassau. I would rather do that then walk it since all I hear is you get harrassed non stop. Any help would be great!!

Yes, it only takes about 7 to 7.5 hours from Atlanta, I am over in the Powder Springs area and that is how long it takes us to get down there. We decided to book a hotel next to the port on Saturday that will allow us to leave the car for the cruise since the port parking will be about $60:scared1: and the hotel is only about $99. I figure an extra $30 is worth it, so the kids don't feel rushed and are well rested.

As far as driving down, we're driving down the night before... or early morning. We'll be in the Port Canaveral area sometime around 8AM or so. We're leaving around 1AM or so.
We're going to find a Walmart and pick up stuff, find some breakfast and park around 10 or 10:30AM. Everyone will be well-rested (except moi) but I can hang tough. I've done it every year going to WDW and US/IOA since 2006 and I have the rare ability of staying awake a full 27 or 28 hours before sleeping.

Hi Folks,
I was just reading the thread about table mates and thought I would try to find a nice family to sit with us rather than risk getting assigned to a horror show! :scared1: LOL.
We are a family of 4 from NJ. My husband is 35, I am 30, and we have two boys who are almost 6 and almost 3. My kids are well behaved (For the most part, maybe a cranky moment here and there) We do not drink, we like to have conversations with good people. My kids are very friendly and outgoing so they will make friends easily with another family with kids.
PM me if you are interested in linking up on our cruise.
Thanks.

Hello all,
I booked this cruise last month. It'll be me (37), DH (38), DS (4), and my parents (I'm not allowed to say). It will be the first Disney cruise for us all, though all the adults have been on a generous handful of Royal Caribbean cruises before. We're getting to Port Canaveral on Saturday and planning on spending the afternoon at Kennedy Space Center. After the cruise, we're headed to WDW for 3 more nights, our DS's second trip to WDW. The rest of us have been there too many times to count.
We're booked on adjoining deluxe inside cabins, but we've been waitlisted for the early seating. My poor little guy conks out around 8:30, so I really hope we can switch seatings when we get there! Oh, and I'll be ridiculously pregnant by then. Just squeaked by as far as their pregnancy rules were concerned.
Nice to meet everyone!

Getting excited about the cruise! :cool1: About 1 month out I'll probably do a pretrippie then trip report. They are so much fun to do and allow me to print it out for ammo when my kids think I'm a meanie and never do anything fun for them!
Poeticdiabetic~ dh has been on the minimed pump for 11 years (type 1 for nearly 30 years). Do you pump, inject or is it diet controlled? Hoping to not have any problems while we are away. can cause nightmares!
We are driving down from CT (I must be a nutter) and still trying to decide what to do and where to stop. Busch Gardens in VA, Washington, DC, Universal, Orlando (friend works there, discount?), NASA, Discovery Cove... As if I don't have enough to sort out on the cruise :rotfl2:

Sorry that my weird online name gave the wrong impression, but I do not actually have diabetes. Thank God!
The purpose of my online name is that I am an author and poet. I also perform some spoken word (performance poetry.) Poetic Diabetic rhymes and uses an inference to my need for artistic poetic outbursts.

Yeaaa-I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get it all!!
I was able to get Palo Brunch (will will be our first time trying), and a Couple's Massage--that's all I really wanted. You are right, we did just buy into DVC last summer--it hasn't been quite a year yet, but we are loving it!! I think I remember seeing you over there on the DVC boards, and I believe you may have even responded to some of the many questions that I asked before we joined-so thank you for that.

Awwww, you are so sweet - - I definitely look forward to meeting you on the cruise (and, yes, The Big will definitely be there too)! Maybe, if the times work out, we can hook up at Palo for brunch?? We are doing the 10:00 a.m., but we can certainly be flexible if it all works out. :goodvibes
As to the jetskis, we rented a double last year when we cruised in September and it was sooooooo much fun!! I don't think that either DH or me stopped laughing the entire time - it was a freakin' riot! I can't wait until The Big is old enough to join us on that particular excursion - I'm quite sure she will love it too. As to Nassau, we are debating on whether or not to do Atlantis (not booking through Disney; booking through Comfort Suites to get the waterpark passes). However, since we are doing the back-to-back with the cruise on the 23rd, I'm trying to divide the fun stuff between this cruise and that one, but I just don't know if I want to spend the $300+ for just a waterpark either way. I honestly think that The Big would have just as much fun in the pool or in the Clubs. So, that's where I'm at with that. A massage sounds wonderful, though - I know that every report I've ever read just raves about the couples massages. I'm sure you guys will be lovin' that. :cloud9:
That's awesome that you guys also bought into DVC!! We've only stayed one night at BLT last September (before our cruise last year), and are staying one night at BCV before this cruise, but our first "real" trip home is going to be this December. We have been making ADRs for that trip for the past week or so, and I just keep getting more and more excited about it. :woohoo: :yay: We are also actually debating on doing the members cruise for 2011, so that should be more awesome DVC vacationing to look forward to. :cheer2:

Now that you mention it, I think I read the TR where you guys did the jet skis. It does sounds like a LOT of fun. Maybe I can talk to DH into it for next year's cruise.
I haven't had an actual full-blown massage yet, so I'm pretty excited about this one. Last year, the DH talked me into doing one of the Spa Samplers, which included a neck/shoulder massage, facial, foot/ankle massage, which was heavenly. So, ever since then I've been telling him how awesome that it was and how I really wanted to try a full massage. Of course I didn't want to leave him out, which is why I booked the couples. He's a little apprehensive about it, but I'm really excited.
I can understand your dilemma with the waterpark. From what I've seen it looks like a TOn of fun, but to me, that's a lot to spend.
We'll be in WDW the night before the cruise as well. We decided to save on our points and are staying at Pop since it's only one night. Not to mention, we used one of the promotions they were doing for the 40% off, and ended up getting the room for $72, which is cheaper than any of the hotels by the port. We have Trails End booked for dinner that night, so I'm excited about that.
BWV was the first place that we stayed after we bought into DVC, and we really liked it!
I bet you are so excited about being in Disney during the Christmas season...I can't imagine how awesome it's going to be!!

Hooking up for Palo sounds great. We have 11:00 booked, so you just let me know what you decide! I have to warn you though--my DH and I will probably be like a fish out of water since we've never done the Brunch before and aren't really sure what to expect...LOL!!
Now that you mention it, I think I read the TR where you guys did the jet skis. It does sounds like a LOT of fun. Maybe I can talk to DH into it for next year's cruise.

Don't *at all* worry about Palo Brunch - - DH and my first time was when we cruised last year in September and I was so worried about finding something I liked or fitting in with the crowd, and it ended up being so laid back and amazing (and our server was so incredible too). You guys sound like you are our type of "peeps" for sure, and I'm sure you guys will love it. Let me see if I can move our reservation to 11:00 a.m. and we can just ask the servers to sit us together when we get there.
I'm sure you will *love, love, love* the full body massage. I started getting massages a couple of years ago, and now I try to go every couple months or so (at least every 6 months). I keep begging DH to go with me and give the couples massage a try, but he's uber-freaked out at the thought of strangers touching him (I think he's watched the Seinfeld episode about massages a few too many times - LOLOLOL).
You guys really got lucky for getting the Pop so cheap - that's a steal!! We were going to stay at the Port the night before using the Priceline deal of $49, which included parking, but, by the time we went to bid for it, I guess they had gotten wind of it being posted on The DIS so it become not available anymore. It all worked out, though - - we had some 2011 points that we could borrow into 2010 (and BCV was available), so it is really only costing us parking for the cruises. We are planning on hanging around Epcot the night before, perhaps seeing Illuminations and partaking in one or two Grey Goose Slushies.

I actually was able to get everything - Palo Brunch, Palo dinner, and the jetskis at Castaway Cay. How 'bout you?
As an aside, didn't you recently buy into DVC? I know there are probably lots of "UGAFans" out there, but I thought I recall seeing you on the DVC boards...? If so, congratulations!! We bought into BLT last March and couldn't be happier with the decision. :goodvibes

I wouldn't worry about this at all - - there looks to be good availability on the Brunch still and, even if you aren't able to secure your reservation online before we cruise, I'm sure that there will be openings for onboard bookings. When we sailed last September, our friends (first time cruisers) weren't able to get either the Brunch or the High Tea and, when they got aboard, they literally had their choice of times and dates. They stressed for months about getting in there, and it turned out to be easy as pie. :goodvibes

I second what Crystal said! I was really surprised at how many different times were available for both brunch and dinner.
I understand how you feel though...I had to wait until we got onboard for our cruise last September to try and get an appointment at the salon for an updo on formal night and had no problem at all.
July 6th isn't very far away at all, so I'm betting you'll get something!!:thumbsup2

Crystal_27, not sure if you know this but Palo has a private dining area that holds around 10 people that you can book through disney cruise line reservations.
I was also up at midnight ( well actually 11 because we are an hour behind Florida), we got Palo brunch:cool1: and Swimming with the stingrays at CC. Since we are doing B2B cruises I also got to stay up late a second time to make Palo dinner reservations. I am so needing their chocolate souffle right now. :thumbsup2
Has anyone done the Caribbean Queen Snorkel Tour at Nassau? We have booked it for our second cruise but are a little apprehensive because my roommate is just really just learning how to swim.
I am trying to decide if I want to get a massage but figured I would be able to book that once we get on board.
Hope everyone gets all there reservations.:goodvibes See ya soon.

I didnt do so well either. :confused3 Bummer. I will be checking everyday as well. There is dinner available but I had my heart set on the brunch.
Quick question since there is a possibility that I may end up doing dinner after all. I know that there are three main restaurants and there is a rotation every night. Should I assume that the last night will be a repeat restaurant? or can a restaurant be repeated at anytime in the rotation? The reason I ask is because I wanted to book Palo's on the same night as the repeat restaurant.
Thanks.

On our 4 night last September the repeat night was on the 3rd night (TAAP, APPT, PTTA) If you look at the faq at the top of the fourm page this is the rotation that they have. This is propably why the 3rd night at Polo books up so fast. We are planning on the brunch on this cruise and doing dinner on the 2nd half of our B2B. It would be really great if we could have a Dis brunch at Polo. If not in the private room may be we can arrange to sit close together. I think Michelle made our reseveration for 10am.

This is our first cruise and we are so excited! I never thought I would enjoy a cruise, I prefer to relax and do things at my own pace on vacations, but I am getting so excited for this cruise. We will probably book another cruise after this one, because it sounds like we are going to have a wonderful time!
Hubby and I have a DD age 4 and she makes friends so easily I hope there are other little kids her age to play with. We are also traveling with friends who have DS's age 3 and 8 months.
We will be flying in the day before and staying at the Raddison at the port and then continuing on to the Nick resort for 2 days. We wanted to visit Universal and check out the new Harry Potter attraction before heading home.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. We are going to try and get to the port as early as possible the day we leave so we can enjoy the ship as long as possible. Did I read right that there's no formal dinner night on the 4 day cruises?
Can't wait to set sail!

We are traveling to Disney in December and will be carving out a couple days to visit Harry Potter and I'm beside myself with excitement!! Hi Everybody!
I came back to make my second post because I finally have something to report. My TA made our final payments on Monday, and I successfully booked Palo for DH and I on Tuesday night. This is our first cruise with Disney, and we weren't necessarily going to do Palo, but you all seemed so excited about it and my parents insisted. I'm looking forward to it!
So, I have a question, and I feel really silly. When we booked with my TA, we were wait-listed for the main seating, which I was worried about. Our 4-yr-old goes to bed at 8pm, and I have been stressing over getting to the ship and asking to switch to the earlier seating. But now my TA says her confirmation says we're on the main seating! How does that happen? So I just now retrieved my reservation on the DCL website, and I can't find anywhere where it says which seating we have. Where do I find that?
BellaPrincess, did you ever find someone who wanted to sit with you at dinner?

Welcome to the new additions to our group. There is only a simiformal night on the 4 night. They will be taking pictures so dress so you can get some good pictures of the family. The castmenbers are also good at taking shots with your cameras. We will be all adults in our cabin this time. DGkids are in school. The thing I like best about crusing is that I am free to choose just how much I do and do not want to do (oh and that we are waited on hand and foot) no cooking or cleaning up. Glad to have you and your families with us I am sure that you will have a great time.

Hi Jenny,
No I actually did not find anyone so I requested to have our own table. It works out better for us this way since I dont like to bother anyone with our kids if they are cracky or tired. I wish you lots of luck and I hope you guys have a great time.
P.S- I was thinking, is there anything we could do to recognize each other if we pass each other on the ship? I think it would be really cool to stop and say hello.

I imagine our girls will probably find each other. I never worry about my DD making friends since she's never met a stranger. My main worry is I might need to start an email account for her when we get back to let her continue on some new friendships.
I am so glad I found this site it has been so helpful to answer many of my questions. DH and I went to Cancun for our honeymoon but a cruise is something totally new and exciting. Getting to tour the new Harry Potter area is about as exciting as going on the cruise, not quite but close! :goodvibes
If anyone is looking for me I will surely be napping on what I hear is a rather quiet deck area. I believe it's the 4 deck aft??? On our last day at sea.

We checked out the Nick At Nite stage show, Spongebob 3 (or4) D.....fun stuff! I attached 2 links of the trip report I did at the time so you can see what I wrote about Nick Hotel, there are a bunch of pics too. But we planned this trip before I got preggo, and if we don't do it now, I don't know when we'll get to go again. And I really want my little guy to have another fantastic big family vacation before the new baby comes and turns everything upside-down for him. He deserves it. We will be on this cruise as well. It will be myself (30), DH (32), and DS (4). We went on a three night last September as well. The cruise last year went so fast I'm looking forward to a 4 night. Wish I could have booked for one of the longer ones, but maybe next time. Last time we stayed on the boat at Nassau, but loved Castaway Cay. I had never been on a cruise before last year. I didn't know what I was missing! Love it!

We are staying the night before at the Radisson at the Port and are hopefully going to be on the first shuttle out in the morning to the Disney Terminal. Also what are FE's and what do you need to do to make them? Looking forward to finally getting my sea legs!

Regarding the FE exchange, I will tell you guys that we had a blast doing it on our 7 nighter. With that said, we had 40 cabins participating and it was a LOT of work and took several hours to complete. With our smaller group, I think it would be a lot of fun (it really was a way to share some DIS love). On our 7 nighter, we also did a DIS PJ breakfast, which was a ton of fun too. Some of us more die-hard folks also participated in a Secret Mickey exchange (think Secret Santa). It really was a unique cruise experience running into DISers at every turn - it felt like we had friends everywhere! :goodvibes

I agree with you, Crystal. I've never participated on any of our cruises before, just because I thought it would be too overwhelming to add that to the list of everything else I had to do before we set sail. But, like you said, I think this would be a great group to try it with since it's smaller. I've already been looking at the FE's on e-Bay this morning, so I hope that we can get something going. I would volunteer to organize it, but other than knowing what it is, I have no idea how it works as far as putting it together. I really hope we can do one!:cheer2:

I am so excited, I can't wait for our cruise. Time is flying by so fast I am afraid I won't get everything I want to get done in time!! We finally got our passports right before the 4th, I was so impressed on how fast we got them (less than a month).
I think FE sounds like fun, but I have no idea how to organize it, I would definitely participate. I like the sound of a PJ breakfast. DH and I are not doing Palo, with this being our first cruise I could not think of a night that I would want to skip dinner and the brunch seemed like to much seafood for DH.
Does anyone know when they will assign cabins?

Thanks for the great link! I think it sounds like fun to try and do FE's. So do you make them for every night of the cruise, and do we share our room numbers? Not that exploring the ship to find FE's to leave gifts in wouldn't be fun, but might be a little time consuming? Since I've never been on a ship before I don't know how long that would take.
I thought I'd read they normally assign cabins around 45 days prior, is this right? I can't wait to see what our room number is, not sure why that's so exciting but it is.
Crystal_27
07-16-2010, 07:29 AM
I would be happy to organize the FE exchange. All we will need is to get together a list of those who wish to participate with cabin number. As to how long it takes, when we had 40 cabins participating, it took us about 2.5 hours to get our stuff distributed (we did it the first night). The key is to create the list by floor so you aren't treking up and down flights of stairs unncessarily. And, for those who are still looking to purchase their FEs, we bought ours from "Gradysmommy" on Ebay and she did an incredible, incredible job! She is a bit more pricey than others, but well worth the expense - - her work is flawless. :thumbsup2
For those doing the Palo Brunch, have you guys thought any more about securing one of the private dining rooms for a DIS Palo Brunch? And, verygfy, regarding the Palo Brunch being too much seafood, while there are seafood offerings, there are also many many other choices. I don't care for seafood at all, and I was in heaven with the Brunch (they have flatbreads that are outta this world!).

Hey Crystal, You know I'm definetly down for a Palo group brunch! This may be the only way I'll get in!:rotfl2:

Hey, stupid question, but what exactly is High Tea? LOL!:confused3
By the way--since I've never done the FE before, I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions between now and then! Are we doing this for each person in the room. For example-in your case, I would need to get enough stuff for you, your DH, and The Big, right??
Oh yeah...in our room, it's just me (Missy), and DH (Mike).
THANK YOU for putting this together for us! You rock!!

First of all, the HIGH TEA is so, so, so much fun! It is just like a traditional English Tea with tea, yummy scones, mini sandwiches, all in Palo style. When we were on the 7 nighter, I did the Tea with some of my DIS girlfriends since DH wasn't too keen on the thought of having tea, so if you guys want to try and get a High Tea group together with just the "girls" I would be game for that. It is *such* a good deal at only $5/person. :goodvibes
As to the FE, it really is up to you how little or how much you do. We got gifts ranging from candy, to pirate attire, to postcards, to puzzles, to items specific to ones state or city; some Disney themed, some not. Some people buy items, some people make them - - there really are no right or wrong gifts.
DH and I (since we are crafy scrapbooking geeks) made homemade scrapbook photo keychains for each FE family (a group gift per stateroom, not per individual). They were awesome but A LOT of work. I'll see if I can post a picture when I get home.

Well it took me to tries (still computer illiterate) but I managed to get High Tea booked for the 3 of us. I havent talked with Michelle or Chris yet so they may not want to participate. If they don't it will be just me. We are booked for brunch at 10am.

Hello everyone,
I just realized how close we are getting :cool1:. For those of you new to FE here are some of the things we have gotten before. Candy, stickers, one friend from Lousiana gave everyone some zatarans seasoning and a little recipe book she made up on her computer, cd with different tropical sounding songs, you can do as much or as little as you want. It is fun to come back to you cabin and find little suprises waiting for you.
Crystal, I would be willing to help out by making up a floor by floor map with the rooms marked on it to help everyone find the cabins easily.
Has anyone ever done the Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy message? It sounds wonderful but so expensive.

Should I book the high tea at 3pm on the day at sea then? Not sure about the Palo brunch, I'll need to check with the rest of my group. Hopefully I'll get them to do the FE's as well as the tea!
This is all too exciting. Honestly I can't remember being this excited about anything since my DD was born. We just scheduled a day after the cruise at Magic Kingdom, I've never been and couldn't stand the fact I would be so close and not at least experience one day!
Oh any anyone looking for FE for their doors they are on ebay but I also found a few cute ones on etsy.com as well. Just an FYI.
Just went to book high tea and it says no spots available at Palo for anything? Guess I was too late. :(

That would be great about the floor map. I don't yet have you on the FE list...did you guys want to participate as well? And, regarding the stone massage, while I've never done it on DCL, I've had one before and it is awesome. The stones are heated almost to the point of being too hot, and they just put a lot of oil on your parts and slide the stones over your body parts. Uh-maz-ing. :thumbsup2

Crystal - thanks for stepping up to organize, I've been watching this thread for a while now and would love to be included!
This will be our first Disney cruise and we are SOOOO excited!
Rodney, Emily, Aiden (5), Jacob(3) - cabin 7104
Will there be a cutoff date at some point so we know how many gifts we need to prepare?
Just a bit of background, I've organized this cruise for our family including both sets of grandparents, by DH sister and her family, and my brother who has Cerebral Palsy. So far Disney has been great about accomodating our special needs, and we cannot wait for the cruise to begin! We are going to end out the week at WDW - any reccomendations would be appreciated! (For example, I think we are not going to visit the parks on Thursday because I think it might be too much activity for the kids). Any other advice/wisdom?

Welcome Emsabems family! As to any advice regarding the parks, I think you are going to be in for a very difficult time with the kiddos asking about going to the parks since you will be so close. :rotfl: Even if you only hit Downtown Disney or Magic Kingdom for a couple of hours, I think that you can easily accommodate your family and still experience Disney. As to the slide, I actually didn't realize until now that there was an age limit as well as a height requirement. :rolleyes1 DD went on the slide when she was 3 with no problems at all (of course, not until the last day and not until *she* was ready to do it).
All right -- here is the updated FE list. As to a cutoff, I say that we should have the cut off be September 1st. That way, we can have a couple weeks to get organized and such. Does that sound good to everyone?

The first of Sept would be fine with us. The couple of weeks should be plenty of time to work on FE gifts. Of course I've been pondering them for awhile now since this is our first cruise and first time particpating in a FE.
We are going to do the Universal Islands of Adventure on Thur when we get back and then Friday at MK. Silly question but what is the MNSSHP? I have seen it referred to several times and can't quite figure it out. :confused3
I have never been to Disney World and could not stand the thought of being so close and not going, so I would imagine small children would feel just as strong. First cruise, first trip to MK I know I sound like I've never left the midwest, but really I have. LOL. I always figured I'd missed out as a kid and Disney was something to wait to take my own child to. I think I'm about to discover what I've been missing out on! :yay:

I've sailed twice on the Wonder with extended family, but I'm thinking of taking the cruise solo. I will love being in my own cabin, and don't mind spending quiet days near the adult pool, but it' would be nice to know if there are any others also sailing alone? And will DCL likely seat me with other like adults at dinner...?
Has anyone actually sailed single, and do you have any hints or advice if I do decide to do this?

Thanks for the advice! I wouldn't dream of tormenting my kids by bringing them within inches of the Magic Kingdom and not actually going :) It's been a bit challenging to come up with a reasonable schedule, but here's where I am so far:
Sat Sep 18 - Drive from NC to Port Canaveral (thanks to the boards here I have lots of good ideas about games/activities to keep the kids occupied)
Sun Sep 19 - Thurs Sep 23 CRUISE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thurs Sep 23 - Drive from PC to Orlando and check into Animal Kingdom Lodge... hang out at pool and relax - dinner at Garden Grove with Characters
Fri Sep 24 - Magic Kingdom
Sat Sep 25 - start the trek home (sigh)
I am super excited about the trip, and really getting into the whole FE idea... there are some great ideas and photos on the boards that are getting my creative juices flowing!
Looking forward to meeting you all!

It's a separate ticket event. You can dress up in costumes and they give out candy all over the park. There are stations where you can see the characters dressed up in costumes (like Minnie in a witch costume, etc.). They have a special parade (it's incredible) and fireworks. They also have dance parties where you can dance with the characters. Because it's a separate ticket even the park is less crowded and many rides have very short lines. We went last year and it was super fun (if you can afford the about $50/person!!).

Emily, your kiddos might surprise you with MNSSHP - it is an action-packed night, with the trick-or-treating, parades, dance parties, character meets, fireworks, and MK rides. We've been the last 2 years (DD was 4 and 5). Both nights, she rocked it until the end of the party (actually, we left last year around 11:30 p.m. to attempt to beat the crowds, but I think I was the one who insisted on that - LOL). We thought about going again this year, but since we are staying at the Beach Club Villas the night before the cruise, we want to get full use out of Stormalong Bay this year. We might go to Epcot for a bit, though, maybe partake in a few drinks around the World. :rotfl:
I'm definitely getting super excited. This weekend is the last before school starts and I figure after school starts the time before our cruise is going to fly by. :dance3:

I am a older single. On this cruise I will not be alone, I am traveling with my daughter and her partner. This will be my 3rd and 4th Disney cruise. We are doing a B2B. I am thinking about doing a solo cruise next fall along with a trip to Epcot for the food and wine fest. I have sean a few posts here from single travelers, and there is a thread on the regular boards that includes solo cruisers as well as solos at the parks.

Stormalong Bay is the Beach and Yacht Club's pool...supposed to be the best pool on property. We are definitely excited about trying it out. And, we are in the 'burbs of Atlanta. We had a more typical school year last year, but the school board implemented a new calendar for the 2010-2012 school years. We do start out earlier, but one of the things I love is that the school gives off a week in September. That means we can cruise "on the cheap" and DD doesn't have to miss any school. :thumbsup2

We aren't quite sure yet what DD's 2011-2012 school schedule is going to look like, but I suspect that she'll be getting off the same week next year as this year, which actually works out so well in that the DVC member cruise is scheduled to begin September 18th, and we would just do another back-to-back on either the front end or back end of the member cruise (if that is indeed the week she is off). We are going to book a "dummy week" while onboard this cruise so we can at least take advantage of getting a discount on the non-DVC cruise portion. If she doesn't get the same week off in 2011, we could very well end up on the same cruise again because she will get one of the weeks off in September for sure. :goodvibes

I think that the night we return is a MNSSHP at magic kingdom - I wish my boys were old enough to make it! Alas, even with long naps in the afternoon I don't think we are quite ready for Disney after dark.
I was at Children's place today and they had the cutest pajamas that look like pirate costumes. I couldn't help myself :)
Anybody else getting super excited???????
Emily
We have tickets to MNSSHP the night the cruise returns. We are going to try it with a 2 year old  I've heard you can get in before the party actually starts, so even if we don't stay until midnight I think it will be lots of fun. We are only staying at WDW for 3 nights so I want to take advantage of our time. I'm so excited about the cruise and WDW. Counting down the days.

Yup - you can get in at 4:00 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. party start. We've done this the past 2 years we went and walked on every ride that we wanted (including Splash Mountain back-to-back-to-back). Its a nice perk. :goodvibes

I've been on two three day cruises on the Wonder (one on halloween) and one 7 day cruise on the Magic. This year I am excited about my first visit to Bay Lake Tower before the cruise. I am hoping to book the Dream during our cruise.

Hi All,
I just read the whole thread and wanted to say that we are first time cruisers - and have not a clue but are excited to join in on the fun! We will do the FE do but no clue about anything! We did get Palo dinner second night - is that bad? Haven't seen any brunch or high tea since I booked it a month or so ago? Any list somewhere on cool ideas for baskets from Shirley or FE gifts? We are GTY - when will we ever get a room assignment?
Have a wonderful day!

My countdown calendar says that we have now entered the 40's! Yipee:cheer2: Not too far now!

Michelle, I got you added to the FE list above. As to any tips, for our first cruise with DD (who was 3 at the time) we got her a basket from Shirley and it turned out very cute (but a little on the pricey side - - I think it ended up being about $75 with everything). The next year we just bought her a sand bucket and sand toys from the dollar store and stuffed it with games, snacks, crayons, puzzles, and other fun stuff and she liked it just as much. As to FE ideas, you can really go as easy or complex as you want. When we participated last year, we got a wide range of items, but it was super fun to always have a surprise waiting for us every time we went back to our rooms. DH and I are still debating on what we want to do. We did a very involved scrapbooked keychain last year, but I'm back and forth about what to do. We always do our best work at the last minute, though. :rotfl:
Have a good day everyone. I sooooooooo am needing this cruise right now. :goodvibes

Well, if my calculations are correct, tomorrow is the 45-day mark for our cruise.:dance3: Is anyone else who's in GTY status anxious to find out their room number? I read one of the stickys over on the main board that said rooms are usually assigned between the 45 and 30 day marks. I'm hoping it's tomorrow, but knowing my luck, I'll have to wait!! I also went online just to check and see what categories were still left for our cruise, and the only thing left open to book are the verandah rooms. It looks like we're going to have a pretty full ship.

I would think its very promisng for an upgrade if the lower categories are sold out. We so debated on whether or not to book a GTY room this cruise, but since we are doing the back-to-back, we decided it would less hassle to book the same stateroom for each leg of the cruise instead. Now, I'm kinda regretting that decision. :rotfl:
Here's hoping you guys get the verandahs that are available. :cheer2:

Wow, that is great news! This is my first cruise ever and I wasn't sure how it all worked. Is there any way to change your status to GTY under your reservations? I know I can upgrade if I wanted to pay more. But, I'm hopeful & confident based on your comment! Thanks!! :flower3:

My husband & I have cruised many times on other ships but this is our first family/disney cruise! I think I am more excited than my kids! Looks like we don't have much longer to wait. I think since we're past the 90 day mark, DCL would charge you to make changes to your reservation. I'm not 100% sure, though, so if you really want to do it, call your travel agent to confirm. Good luck!

How cool that we have another ATL family aboard! :yay: My DD is 6; how old are your kiddos? Maybe they'll run into each other in the kids clubs if they are around the same age. I'm sure you're going to love Disney cruisin'. This will be only our third Disney cruise, but DH and I are hooked!! Hey everyone! Great to meet other Disney Lovers like me! This will be my family's first cruise. My hubby and I have four kids (10, 9, 5 and 4)! We're super excited about going on the DCL! We are DVC members and live in Florida so we go to WDW about every 3-4 months! My husband's best friend's family is also coming on the cruise and they have a 5 year old as well. We were able to book Palo, CC sting ray, and Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter! We would love to participate in the FE! Our room number is 2602! :woohoo:

Hey y'all...I wanted to let y'all know about something I just found when looking at our reservation online. In the Planning Center, on the right side of the page, I happened to see "Information About Your Cruise". Under that section it states that a refundable Onboard Credit has been applied to our reservation for a fuel supplement charge. I've heard of this happening before, but have never had it happen to us. There's no telling how long that's been there and I just haven't noticed it! Since it didn't give me an amount online, I called to check, and the CM told me it was $64.00!!:woohoo: I was totally surprised as I was figuring that it would only be $5 or so! Definitely a good way to start the day. Now, if they would only assign a room!!:rolleyes1

Well, DisneyFreak, you aren't the only one who didn't get an upgrade. Just checked our reservation, and we were finally assigned. Looks like we're going to be down there adding the coal to the burners!! Oh, well. I guess that's why they say that you should book what you want! I wonder if you can upgrade when cruising on points!? I'm not really disappointed about where we are, I'm just wondering how not having a split bath will work--that's the only reason I was really hoping for an upgrade. But either way, we'll be on the ship!
ETA: I just went back and realized that we actually did get an upgrade. We were originally GTY for a Cat. 11, but the room number we've been assigned is actually a category 9 (room 1036)! So, we do have a split bathroom after all. And from looking at the Stateroom reports, we actually have one of the rooms with the 2 portholes. I just assumed that because we were on dec 1 that we were still in a Cat. 11. I totally forgot that even though your room number changes, they don't actually change your category when you look at your reservation online.

Room upgrade from a cat. 11 inside to a cat. 9 with a large porthole on deck 2! We are linked with another reservation and our room connects so I'm hoping we both were upgraded? I hope everyone had a good weekend. We actually visited my family in Knoxville, so my DD was super spoiled all weekend long by her cousins. Now I can offically say that our next time out of town will be when we are Disney cruise bound!

Is Eli going to the Oceaneer's Club/Lab?
I'm feeling very encouraged by the amount of kids around my 4yr old son's age. I knew there were going to tons of kids, but it's nice to see. Last time we went my husband was on leave from working in Iraq (independent contractor) so Alex didn't get to spend as much time as he wanted (as in all of the time) in the Club. This time my husband's been back (for good) since December. I have a feeling I may not see my son for all four nights.

I'm with JRose - VERY excited about all the 4ish year olds! My guys will likely spend every evening in the club.
Aiden is 5, very talkative, never met a stranger. A bit bossy as he's the older brother :) Jacob is 3.5, very mellow and loves to keep up with the older kids, especially with anything physical. They are both super excited about the cruise, we've been keeping a countdown calendar and it's definitely overshadowing back to school :)
I've been explaining to them that they will have their own special 'camp' where mommies and daddies aren't allowed - they think it's cool that there is a place just for them, and are very aware of the fact that it isn't the 'babies' area (Thank you Disney for finally getting both my kids potty trained - apparantly the threat of staying with the babies was needed to seal that deal!)
They will love meeting all of your kids!
Only 39 days left!!!!!
BTW - if you haven't already found it, there is a cute desktop app called the Disney Vacation Connection - it's a suitcase that tracks all kinds of info about your trip and has links and videos to content... we've had fun seeing how many days are left and playing with all the buttons and functionality.

So happy to see so many little ones around DD4's age! I wanted a nice family vacation but once she gets to the clubs and meets everyone I have a feeling it might be a fight for actual "family" time.
Also with the fuel supplement credit, was that on everyone's reservation or just certain people? Do you see how much onboard credit you have or do you wait until you are on the ship?

The docs will be mailed to the person who's name is on the reservation. In our case, it was in mine, so it came to my attention, but there are docs included for everyone in your party. The Cruise Contract, Embark-Departure Form, Payment Authorization Form, Onboard Airline Check-In Pre-Registration, Ground Transfer Purchase Option, and most importantly Luggage tags are what's included. It all comes in a handly little sprial bound notebook that has preforated pages, so you can sign what you need and tear it out...pretty handy!

Hey all. We are new to this forum, very! LOL. We are from Chattanooga, TN and we sailed for first time last year on Wonder in September. We too are on the Sept. 19th cruise. We are staying in 6647. It is the DH that is 45, DS who is 6 and me, the mom, and im 32. Hope to see you all around. We too are doing the Doc dance and am trying how to figure out how to make or where to buy all that jazzy door decor. I work in EMS, so really no time to make anything. Is much easier for me to buy it. If you all know where I can get some of the FE and door decor pre-made and customized, fill me in!!! We are doing same excursions as last year. Nassau we do the sting ray adventure and the other day we do the snorkeling off a catamaran. We are so :dance3:excited!!!

Doc dance today for us! :dance3: Can't believe we're in that final homestretch for our first cruise! I'll be heading to the fabric store to try and find material for our FE in the next couple of days. I'm not crafty at all so I'll just stand around my work with the material looking sad until someone offers to help me out. :cool1:
We'd like to decorate our door a bit and I was wondering if printing the design on cardstock paper and then laminating and then glueing magnets on the back really work? Has anyone else done this? The magnetic paper is crazy expensive or at least the only type I've found locally is.

Good luck with your FE!!!
As far as the door decorations--what we did last year was stick magnetic strips on the corners of the sign/paper, then laminated it so I wouldn't have to worry about the magnets coming off. It ended up working quite well for us. I'm glad you mentioned door signs, by the way--it reminds me that I need to go find some new ones for this cruise!!

I think we are okay as long as we hang them on the fish outside our door. If I remember right, one of the posts I read was referring more to people putting stickers and things on the doors that were causing the paint to peel and leaving the sticky stuff behind for Mousekeeping to have to clean.

Just curious--who's planning on dressing up for Pirate Night and Dress-up Night? Initially, Mike and I decided that we weren't going to do Pirate Night for sure, and were undecided about Dress-Up, but now I can't make up my mind. We went all out last year for PN, but were 2 of only about a handful of people who dressed up. We still have our costumes, so we wouldn't have to worry about that part. But I just can't decide. As far as Dress-Up, I really don't want to have to go out and buy another dress! So, what's the verdict here...if enough of y'all are doing it, that may be enough to convince the DH and I to do it again, too!

We will at least be sporting eye patches and possibly head scarves for Pirate Night. For dress up night I want to eat at the restaurants so yes we will be dressed up. I'm packing at least two dresses (one for dinner, one for Palo tea) for me and slacks, dress shirts, and ties for my husband and son.

I'm a dress person, and am hoping to get some good family photos, so we'll dress up for dinner too - I was relieved to hear that shorts are generally acceptable for the dining rooms for kids... they'll look adorable but they won't be in pants :rolleyes1

For pirate night DH and I will at least be wearing pirate bandanas and maybe an eye patch. DD will be in full costume since her dance recital costume can be doubled as a pirate. For as much as we paid for her recital costumes you bet she's going to wear them every chance she can get! pirate:
As for dress up night I would have better luck getting blood out of a turnip than getting DH in a tie. He will at least be in dress pants and a dress type of shirt. I ordered a dress to wear online a few weeks ago but it seems to have wandered off the face of the earth. Hopefully it shows up or I will be hunting among the winter clothes that are now in stores for some sort of summer type of dress. Other nights I plan on capri pants and a nice shirt. No worries about DD she has about a week's worth of dresses and nice dinner type of outfits.

We will be dressing for PN, as for dress up night that is a little iffy, I will probably be wearing black pants and adressy shirt. I don't do heals or dresses.
We have not receiver our cruise documents yet I hope they will get here soon. We leave just a month from today, and I am getting excited and a little worried that I won't be able to get everything ready by then.

We probably won't dress up for Pirate Night. DS4 is actually a little afraid that he'll be mistaken for a real pirate and pressed into service. :rotfl:
As for "dress up night," yeah, chances are pretty slim that DH will wear more than his usual clean polo shirt and khaki pants.
Here's a problem: I talked him into a Palo res. What is the bare minimum in terms of dressing up that he'll be able to get away with? He always dresses smartly/neatly, but his idea of vacation doesn't usually include a tie or jacket. I'm not sure it's worth an argument. I'd rather cancel Palo than force him to bring a jacket.
