We'd like to decorate our door a bit and I was wondering if printing the design on cardstock paper and then laminating and then glueing magnets on the back really work? Has anyone else done this? The magnetic paper is crazy expensive or at least the only type I've found locally is.
We bought the ink jet printable magnet paper and it worked awesome (our Michaels sells it and we used a 40% off coupon to make the price a bit more reasonable). The only problem was that you had to cut out by hand all of the magnets. BUT, since DH is the crafty one, he had them all cut out in an hour or two. :thumbsup2
hey ya'll!!
We want to join the FE Exchange. Never done it before, just heard about it a few weeks ago. We are in 6647. DH is Scott who is 45, DS is Connor is 6 and I the mom, maid and maintenance guru am Brandi and were gonna say I just ceebrated the 2nd anniversary of my 30th Birthday....lol. Looking forward to this!! Its our 2nd cruise. First was last sept on wonder as well and caught the bug.:banana::cheer2:
Got you added!!
Just curious--who's planning on dressing up for Pirate Night and Dress-up Night? !
We are still back and forth about dressing up. I really want to but I'm not sure about DH. We will definitely have something for DD though (big surprise there - LOL). ;)

Just wanted to share with everyone the deal I got with Priceline. I booked the Radisson before for $109 plus tax, I went on Priceline and put in 2 1/2 stars for Cape Canaveral and I got the Radisson for $79. I was able to cancel my previous reservation with the Radisson!!

Hi Y'all! So excited! Watching youtube videos - so cool! We are going to dress up for Palo - but not sequiny full length ya know. I am going to wear a little black cocktail dress - hub sportcoat, tie and khaki pants? That too casual? He has a suit but hate to take that on a trip - too much! I am going to wear a long black maxi dress and pirate hat for the pirate party - DS is going to wear a Jack Sparrow costume - DH probably won't do much maybe an eyepatch or something. Looking forward to enjoying the cruise with all of you - hope you all are doing great~pirate:

Ok sorry had to get that out of my system and thought this was the best place! If I talk about my upcoming trip to my coworkers one more time I think they are going to hurt me in some way. :rolleyes1
Question about the FE gifts. Do we put somewhere on the gifts who they are from? Not that I'm looking for recognition or anything, I just would like to know what gifts are from whom. That way if there's something from that person's state I can know who it's from.

I am right there with you!... To contain my boy, I have had to tell him that we are still waiting on the post office for passorts before we can go see Mickey Mouse.. he seems to be ok with that answer!.. :thumbsup2
So I should tell Jordyn NOT to tell Eli we have ours already? :confused3

From what I've read it's totally up to you.
That said, I hope you'll put who your gift is from on it - I think half the fun has been getting to know all of you on this forum, and I'd love to put the gifts with names and hopefully faces too!

Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you have sailed on a sold out cruise before. I just went on DCL to see what was still available and our cruise is not showing up. Does that mean the cruise is sold out? Also if it is, how crowded is the boat going to be?
Tngrl78

We only sailed once before, last year at this same time. I think it was a sold out cruise as the Cruise Director told us we had a full ship.
Since it was our only cruise, we have no other reference but while it was crowded at times, for the most part we didn't feel cramped. The funny part was we both mentioned that it seemed strange that in a ship load of 2500 people, we seemed to see the same people all cruise. It was like there was only 100 people, because we saw the same ones over and over.

Can someone help me with this question? I talked my DH into a Palo reservation. What is the bare minimum in terms of dressing up that he'll be able to get away with? He always dresses smartly/neatly, but his idea of vacation doesn't usually include a tie or jacket. I'm not sure it's worth an argument. I'd rather cancel Palo than force him to bring a jacket.
One more question: Are floatation devices available to borrow/rent on board the ship for our DS4? We can bring his own, but it takes up a bit of room in the luggage.
Thanks!

I just read on another thread that verygfy's dd broke her arm!
I hope she's feeling better soon and ready to cruise! We had friends that cruised with a 4 yr old in a cast and had no problems with club or activities.
What happened? Any special FE requests???

Thank you so much!! She is doing great, she has a full arm cast on for 3 weeks and then she will get a short arm waterproof cast on after that for the cruise. The doctors were great with her today!! She was jumping on the couch and when I came into the room she went to jump back down and sit down, but ended up falling the other way on the floor, she put her hand out to stop the fall and broke right above her wrist.
I am so glad to hear that your friends had no problems with there 4 year old cruising with a cast on, it made me very sad to think she would miss out on so much of the cruise with the cast. And thankfully with the waterproof cast she will be able to enjoy Castaway Cay.
As for FE, right now the doctors put "Pixie Dust" on her cast to help her arm heal faster for the cruise. She keeps saying Tinkerbell is going to make it all better mommy. Anything tinkerbell would be great!
She won't use her right arm yet, hopefully that will change with time!! Thank you again so much!!

Has anyone been to Mickey's not so scary Halloween Party at MK? I was wondering if the park is fully operational during the party? Are all the rides going and stuff? If we were to go the night we disembark, I would like to be able to do all the rides. The family going with us has never been to MK and I would hate for us to go for the Halloween party and they not get the great experience that MK has to offer during a normal operating day. I guess I was just wondering if that night is just a normal evening at MK only with some halloween festivities accompanying it.

We have done MNSSHP for the last two years and have really enjoyed ourselves both times. The rides are all operational, and the party offers trick-or-treating stations at various locations throughout as well as special dance parties, a parade and fireworks show. The characters are also dressed up in their halloween finest. We love MK anyway, but, for us, MNSSHP kicks up the awesomeness of MK to a different level. I would totally recommend it to a newbie family! :thumbsup2

We've been to MNSSHP -3 different years - I don't recall ever seeing a ride not operational -but the food choices are really limited. Try to eat your big meal before you get there...unless you just want a hot dog! It is soooo much fun!
This year we are going the day we get back from the cruise & then going back the Friday before Halloween -fun!

I think we are okay as long as we hang them on the fish outside our door. If I remember right, one of the posts I read was referring more to people putting stickers and things on the doors that were causing the paint to peel and leaving the sticky stuff behind for Mousekeeping to have to clean.
Congrats on getting your docs. I know how excited you are!! Sometimes it's hard for me not to just burst out into screams of excitement and happiness!:woohoo:
Just curious--who's planning on dressing up for Pirate Night and Dress-up Night? Initially, Mike and I decided that we weren't going to do Pirate Night for sure, and were undecided about Dress-Up, but now I can't make up my mind. We went all out last year for PN, but were 2 of only about a handful of people who dressed up. We still have our costumes, so we wouldn't have to worry about that part. But I just can't decide. As far as Dress-Up, I really don't want to have to go out and buy another dress! So, what's the verdict here...if enough of y'all are doing it, that may be enough to convince the DH and I to do it again, too!
Thanks for the info! I'm kind of lost since this is all new to me! But I can answer anything that has to do with WDW! Anyways, John and I decided we wanted to dress up (and our kids) for pirate night! We're going to do dressy casual for formal night/Palo. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!:cheer2:

I could be wrong so someone please correct me if I am. I believe I heard if you don't want to mess with having to find a place for your carseat or stroller while on the ship you can check it at the port? They keep it at the terminal for you and you can claim it once you disembark. We will be traveling with DD who is also 4 and are just renting a carseat from the transfer company, but we will have our stroller. We are attending MNSSHP on Thur as well! If it's true you can just check your stroller at the port terminal that may be what we do, because I can't think of any reason that we'll need it while on the ship.

i asked the disney mom's panel about storage lockers at the port and was told there were none at that location. I was asking about storage for a car seat and they said i could store it in the closet.
I have read lots of posts about people shipping things to disney ahead of time, but i didn't want to spend the money since we will be coming thru orlando on saturday before the crusie. Mom's panel said to call the resort where you will be staying after the cruise and they should be happy to hold items for any guest staying within 10 days.
I am SO EXCITED!! my son keeps asking when are we going to see Mickey mommy???

My DH mentioned the very same thing to me this morning after watching the news. For some reason, I'm not as worried with this cruise as I was before. Honestly, I'm hoping that whatever is out there will fizzle out by the time we cruise. But, the reality is that something else could come along at any time. Nope not us. Honestly not worried in the least. Two main reasons we're not...
I've read where cruise ships are the safest to be on because they can actually move out of the way of a storm. On land you're kinda stuck. Since we're on a 4 day cruise if there's bad weather there's an extra day to play with to get us to castaway cay.
The last reason, gdaneowner and my family are from the midwest. The weather here changes drastically every 12 hours normally. If we're lucky we'll get a 5 minute warning for a tornado. Unless we see a tornado with our own eyes we stay outside and enjoy. 60 plus mile an hour winds can just be a normal day. So if something should come up we'll probably be the ones trying to walk around on the deck saying "what weather?"
This is our first cruise as well and I hope others don't stress too much over the weather. The worst chance of storms is usually around the first part of Sept. Even though our cruise seems so close but yet so far away, weather wise it is very far away. We can't control the weather, it seems the ship and Disney will do whatever they can to keep us safe first, and then continue to have a great time! The normal things I've heard is the ship needs to be rerouted to another port in the cases of bad weather and that Disney is more than accomodating to get guests to their original destination.
I'm sure it will be just fine my fellow cruisers. We're going to have a great time, come calm or high water!:cool1:

We cruised for the first time in hurricane season last September and I was sooooo worried about it. I was on the hurricane tracking website a couple times each day and was obsessed about it. However, I have to say that the weather during our September cruise couldn't have been more perfect and awesome. We ran into a little rain on our Castaway Cay day, but even that just ended up cooling everyone down a little bit. Since DD will likely have a week off in September for the foreseeable future, we'll just enjoy cruising "on the cheap" and let the weather gods work everything else out. :thumbsup2

Great perspective! When I did the DCL before Tropical Storm Faye caused us o have to get on the boat in Fort Lauderdale. we checked in at the port but were bussed to F.L. It rained on and off in WDW and was stormy and dark thw whole 4 hour drive down. when we pulled into F.L. the sun came out and it was beautiful the whole cruise!
I'm not too worried either!

Hi everyone, please don't shoot, but the DH and I have decided to bow out of the FE exchange. I've gotten in over my head, and with everything that's going on, there is no way that I can get everything finished before the cruise. Time has just flown by so fast, it's unbelieveable. We are going to be out of town next weekend, and then the weekend after that is the cruise. So that really only leaves us this weekend, and there's just no way that I can get it done along with everything else. I had every intention of particpating, as I'd even gotten a custom made FE off e-Bay. I'm really sorry, and I hope everyone understands.:guilty:

Hi guys, this will be our first disney cruise and i am trying to decide about joining in on the FE's. are ya'll giving gifts to each cruiser or to each room?
don't want to spend tons of money but would love to participate.
thanks for any info.
:yay:
We've been on 5 other Disney cruises, but first time FE participants! This is what I've been told - you can do something for every person, the family as a unit, something everyday, every other or pretty much whatever makes you happy. No rules.
There are 4 rooms in our group - 1 room is going to do 1 goodie bag for each person, just 1 time, another room is doing 1 goodie bag 1 time & a separate goodie one or two other days, the other 2 rooms are doing something every day for every person in that room - age & in some cases male/female appropriate. It's completely up to you & your budget - have fun - we are!
Sign up is by Sept 1st!

When I purchased my trip insurance from insuremytrip.com, I literally did it the day the final payment was due. My first call was to them and my next call was to TA to make final payment. When I asked the woman was this ok, she said you can actually purchase insurance up to 1 week before your departure date. So you may want to check into it if you are nervous.

I just did a quick search, tried to look up my specific plan but not sure how to do that on there website. But here is the link for the time periods of the cruise. I have travelex select and it covered trip interruption and cancellation and I double checked it with this new quote and it included both of those as well. When looking at the amounts remember it is per person not total. Hope this helps!!

We cruised without insurance the first time that we did a 4 nighter and (of course) nothing happened and we never ended up utilizing the insurance. We have bought it for each subsequent cruise, but it always ends up not being used (of course) and I kick myself for adding it every time. You'll be fine!! :grouphug:

I've been putting together the FE list and had a question. Does anyone have a room together that they are sharing but they are not one family? I didn't want to give a gift and then the people in the room would have to decide who gets to take it home. Just easier to make one for everyone. :thumbsup2
Crystal thank you so much for putting all of this together and keeping all of the names and rooms organized! Wonderful job! We are so looking forward to leaving. We found out today that DD's preschool class picture is going to be taken while we are gone. I told her I was sorry she wouldn't be able to be in the class picture. I thought that nothing could take my mind off our cruise, but it turns out that ds starting Kindergarten, a sick husband, and a huge work project that is now going live the week before the cruise managed to distract me!!
Still super excited, but also worried about how I'm going to get it all done! Do you think it's too early to start packing?...
I bought an app that is a hurricane storm tracker just to torture myself - but I'm sure it will be fine. I agree with the theory that wa can steer around the storms ;)
It also looks like most of us will be seeing each other again at MNSSHP! We are also at AKL after the cruise - anyone have an opinion on the restaurants at AKL? I've ad a lot on the dining threads about how good they are but for some reason the menus just aren't appealing to me yet. Maybe the live and in person will temp me more

Hi Ems,
We are HUGE fans of the AKL restaurants! We haven't been to Sanaa yet, but Boma is a spectacular favorite of ours, especially for dinner, and we just did Jiko for the first time this past May, and it's now on our top 5 list of favorite restaurants at WDW. There are plenty of new and exotic options to try if you're the adventurous type, but also plenty of old favorites and standbys for people who like the tried and true. I recommend either of them wholeheartedly. Boma is especially good for young kids who might be picky. They have the comfort foods - mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, Mickey waffles for breakfast - all arranged on the low buffet for little ones to reach. You won't be disappointed!

She is doing very good with it. She has begun using the fingers and bath time has become a lot less upsetting for the both of us. We went back to the doctors on Monday and she had to get a new cast because the swelling on her wrist had gone down so it was making the cast to loose. They say that they will swap it out the week of the cruise with a short arm waterproof
She had school pictures this week so of course they all have the cast in the picture. I kind of hoped they would have taken one shot on the other side so we would have the option if whether or not we wanted the cast in the pictures, but oh well. I think she looks adorable either way!!

My family stayed at AKL last time we did they cruise and it was unbelievable! We only ate at Boma, the buffet, and there was a very large selection of all kinds of food. The menu does look a little overwhelming and intersting but I promise the food is delish! You'll be able to find regular comfort food here too. We mentioned to the waiter it was our anniversary and he brought a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a few cake treats with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate. :cloud9: It was really SWEET of them!

We have the same issue with deciding exactly how many days we have left... and we are driving to Florida on the Saturday, so our vacation "officially" starts on that day...
We have a little countdown clock on our computer that is always on top... and it's been counting down since about day 140!
DH has been driving everybody at his work crazy with the talk about it...but who cares, right! :rotfl2:
We are just trying to finish our FE gifts. This is our first time doing it. We decided to do one for each family, plus one small thing for each child. The tricky part of making sure that when there is more that one "family" sharing a room. When I include our room, I have counted 35 adults in total (including 2 for us), and 24 distinct family gifts (again, including us as 1) and 16 kids (including our 1). Does that make sense?
I have:
7627 Bella402 - 2 adults, 0 kids, 2 adult gifts
7136 cgstrech - 3 adults, 0 kids, 3 adult gifts
1041 ChipDaleLover - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift

7104 Emsabems - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift
7505 FairyGrandmother - 3 adults, 0 kids, 2 adult gifts
2030 gdaneowner - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift
2032 Jey12 - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
2602 thamar58 - 2 adults, 4 kids, 1 adult gift

6551 verygfy - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift

I have started packing not only non-clothing items so I know what to shop for next week, but also clothing that I know we are not going to be wearing over the next two weeks, like bathing suits and certain shorts and shirts (also saves me from additional laundry next week):rolleyes1
The ongoing argument in my house right now is do you include TODAY in the count or not!?!?!? :rotfl:
I of course think today doesn't count, but I can't convince DS 5, so we are still on 13 days to go
:rotfl2: All DD4 keeps saying is when our we going on the boat, I want to see Mickey!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
I am officially DONE with all my FE gifts!!!! Miracle of Miracles I had exactly enough of the adult and boy gifts, and just a couple extra girl gifts 'just in case' - now I'm having fun planning when we are going to deliver and how we are going to to a 'reverse scavenger hunt' as a family activity while on baord... finding all of the rooms will be so much fun!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Can't wait to meet all of you!
EmsaBems
I have ordered so many things for the FE and none of it has shown up yet :scared1:. All of it says it has shipped, so hopefully it will show up mid next week. Getting very nervous with how close it is.
1067 ChipDaleLover - 2 adults, 0 kids, 1 adult gift
2601 ChipDaleLover - 2 adults, 0 kids, 2 adult gifts
1069 ChipDaleLover - 3 adults, 0 kids, 3 adult gifts
6083 Crystal_27 - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
7100 e_tea989 - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
7104 Emsabems - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift
7505 FairyGrandmother - 3 adults, 0 kids, 2 adult gifts
2030 gdaneowner - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift
2032 Jey12 - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
2602 thamar58 - 2 adults, 4 kids, 1 adult gift
6647 Tngrl78 - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
6551 verygfy - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 adult gift
2544 vmedisneymom - 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 adult gift
Did I get that right? Did I miss anyone?
This is an awesome list, thank you so much for putting it together!
Ok everyone here are the FE maps of the 4 decks that that have participating cabins. I have also included a link to my photobucket album where I have also uploaded the maps.
I have included the cabin numbers, names and ages on each page. If anyone has any issues printing or questions please let me know.

Michelle - thanks a million for the maps... My DS 5 is totally into maps right now so he will LOVE following the map to leave gifts!!!! We kind of lucked out, only 4 decks to visit!
I give you all fair warning that we will likely be delivering during first dinner seating on the first night. I'm getting paranoid about people taking my gifts out of your fe's so please check when you get back fro dinner or just before you go if you have 2nd seating!
I'm feelin the love!

Wow, It's only 13 days :yay: until the cruise and I've never posted to this thread! Work has been crazy these past six months (really since November), but it's finally starting to calm down.
Anyway, we'll be on this cruise - all nine of us :). Our cast is: Me (35), my DW Jennifer (33), our DD Peyton (10), DD Eden (8), DS Halen (7), DS Cayson (4), DS Rylan (2), DS Levin (9 mos), and our friend Gena/aka Nena (50). We're planning on going to the Atlantis in the Bahamas, hitting the beach at Castaway Cay, and just generally relaxing and soaking up the sun!
This is our fourth cruise but our first four day (all the rest were on the Magic). I don't know if the shortened schedule will feel like a real 'cruise'- we'll have to see. We're staying at Old Key West for five days when we get off the cruise :yay: so it's a good trade off (cruise days for park days).
Looking forward to cruising with ya'll!

Hi everybody! I can't wait to get away! Very impressed with the work on the FE information, great job! I hope everyone has a great time with this. We'll definitely be participating on our next Disney cruise.
So, I just gave up a Palo reservation, if anyone was looking. My parents had to cancel their cruise with us because my grandmother has taken a turn for the worse last night, and my mom doesn't want to leave her. :guilty::sad1: My DH and I were on the fence about Palo anyway (it's only four nights, and we don't want to miss any of the restaurants on the rotation, since it's our first time) so I cancelled it. It was for Tuesday night, Sept. 21 at 7:30pm for 2 adults. We'll do Palo next time.
So now it's just the three of us, me (37), DH Keith (38) and DS Nathan (4). I'll be the one hiding the basketball under my shirt. I just bought the cutest shirt last night at Motherhood. It's pink with Mickey on the back with his arms stretched around to the front hugging my belly, and it says, "Embrace the belly!"

Because I'd rather be doing ANYTHING Disney than working right now, I just searched for a cabin on our cruise - the site is showing Oceanview Stateroom as the only option right now. I know it doesn't mean anything, but maybe the ship is not 'entirely' full ;)
I'm obsessed with the idea of asking for an upgrade when we check in - which is ridiculous because we specifically booked to be near the other 3 cabins in our group... I might just have to ask to torture myself!
DS3 was sent home from school after 45 minutes when he started throwing up today  I hope this means we will all be sick in the next few days and fully recovered before the cruise (I know better than to hope that the rest of us don't get sick :sad2:) Wish us luck purging the germs, and hope we don't have to use our trip insurance! :scared:

Hi Jenny, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope she does better.
You do know however, that one of the restaurants on your rotation will be a repeat, and thats usually on the third night. So you wont be missing any restaurants.

I check it everyday and it is weird sometimes I get a verandah, sometimes the cruise date doesn't even show up when I do a search. I also want to ask for an upgrade at the port.

I've started to pack. I need to get things organized first though. Does anyone have any idea what the 3-1-1 rule is? All these restrictions are very confusing and I need to figure out what to pack and where to put it. I know we cannot have more than 3oz of liquids in our handbags but are we really only allowed 1 ziplock bag? :confused3

You can have more than one 3oz liquid bottle, but all bottles containing any liquid must be placed into one ziplock bag and removed from your carryon during security check in, and x-rayed seperately. I would suggest if you are thinking toothpaste, hair spray, shampoo, etc....just put them in a ziploc bag in your checked baggage. Other items like baby formula and medications can exceed the 3oz rule but still within limits. I also believe that liquid containers, except for breast milk or medications, must be in a new sealed factory sealed bottle? :confused3 Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Another suggestion, or at least what we plan on doing. We're just going to take a cab to the Walmart at the port and buy items such as toothpaste, hairspray and things like that. It will free up space and weight in our bags, plus I usually forget something important anyway and need to run out and get it.

Hi, everyone!! We are getting so close to our cruise. Of course, DH worked all weekend and is going to continue to be working like crazy up until the last possible minute. We always seem to be dealing with pre-trip drama (last year, the entire Metro Atlanta area was literally flooded the week before we left) and I just wish that one time we could have an easy go of it. We did get our FE gifts this weekend, though. I was planning on making something cool, but just ran out of time, so I bought something instead. Anyway, I hope that everyone has a great last week before vacation. :goodvibes

WOW! I can't believe how close we are! Woohoo!!
My DH and I took a trip up to Bowling Green this past weekend to visit family and attend a concert. We got back last night, and boy am I tired this morning. Neither one of us wanted to get up this morning, so we were both late to work! When I get off today I have lots to do waiting for me at home! Shouldn't be too bad, though! We haven't packed anything yet, but plan to start that tonight as well. Thankfully, I'm taking Friday off, so I'll be able to tie up any lose ends then, before we leave on Saturday. I am so excited to meet all of you onboard!!:thumbsup2 I hope everyone has a great week!:)

This weekend did not go as well as I was hoping, DH went to help his sister with her bathroom remodel this weekend and when he went to leave Home Depot his car would not start, battery was completely dead :scared1: $195 later and he was back on the road, the only good thing about this is that I am much happier it happened this weekend versus next weekend when we stop off of 75 somewhere. Then DH wanted a couple of shirts for the trip went out shopping this weekend with no luck on finding him anything he was looking for .. So now we have planned to stop off in Orlando on the way down to do some shopping at the outlet malls!! I have been trying all morning to do some work, but I just want to be on vacation. The week before vacation is always the hardest for me. Well, guys, DH just dropped the horrible news on me that he isn't going to be able to go on the cruise due to work. He is pushing me to just take DD and have fun without him (after all, he won't be home anyway because he'll be flitting from jobsite to jobsite), which is what I'm leaning towards now. However, the thought of not having him with me is just so depressing so I'm still back and forth about whether to cancel the trip and hit the trip insurance. This sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. :sad1:

I hope that you still cruise, because I really want to meet you, but if you do cancel, then I totally understand that to. Please keep us posted on what you decide! Hugs to ya!
Thanks you guys - I really appreciate it. I'm trying to see if my sister will go and, if not, I'm just going to see how I feel about it on Friday and make a decision from there. DH and I don't ever do anything apart, though, so the thought of going on vacation without him is horrifying. BUT, I also know that DD is very much looking forward to the cruise and its already paid for, so it makes sense to just suck it up and go.

That's exactly how the DH and I are, so that's why I can relate to you not wanting to go without him. I hope your sister can go so that you'll at least have another adult there with you! If it would make you feel any better, you're more than welcome to "hang" with us as much as you need to on the ship. I know it won't replace your DH being there, but it might help!

I think that would be the hardest thing. I don't think after the months of telling the little ones that they are gonna go on the big boat and see Mickey Mouse, that I could stay home. We are adults and understand, but the poor kids don't. I don't think that I could break the kids hearts and not go.
And you know, they say that it is good for your relationship to take seperate vacations. :thumbsup2

:sad1:
I am so sorry to hear that, I couldn't imagine what you are going through. I would struggle terribly with that decision, DH and I never go anywhere without the other one so that has to be tough. I would love to say hey he's working so come and have some fun, but I know that is easy to say from over here. I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you in a few days.

You guys are truly amazing. I'm almost teary at the amount of support that you guys have shown me, and can't thank you enough. As of right now, I'm planning on pushing through it and taking DD. I've called everyone I can think of who may be interested, but the timing is just too close to the trip for it to be workable. Again, thanks to everyone and I can't wait to meet you guys in real life and give hugs all around. :goodvibes :grouphug:

Hi All,
Crystal, my heart certainly goes out to you - my hubby is a corporate pilot who is gone alot (like all day tomorrow so we have to leave later than we wanted) but when he is not flying he is home so we are inseparable. I do know that that scenario has forced me out of my zone and I have had some wonderful times with friends and our son because of it. That probably doesn't help much but you can hang with us anytime! Tonight, we are toasting my 17 year old dog MonCherie who just couldn't hang on any longer with us. I am very sad that we had to put her down this morning, but I know she is playing with her brother and is young and happy again. I pray this trip brings some much needed relaxation and happiness to us all - we leave tomorrow to go to Dallas to fly out so hope to see all of you Sunday am!!! :littleangel:

Crystal sending  to you! DH and I work seperate hours and aside from a couple of hours a night we don't really see each other except for one night a week. I can't imagine having a wonderful vacation planned together and be seperated at the last minute! I do agree with the others and hope you decide to come. If he's at work anyway and wants you and DD to go you should. Great chance for some mother/daughter time and it will give you an excuse to plan another cruise that hopefully you all can go on! I'm so sorry he won't be able to join you. It might not be ideal but I bet you and DD will have a trip you two will be able to talk about for many years to come!
Also I too was wondering if we were having a get together? I know there was talk about a Palo brunch or tea, but that was awhile back. I don't remember reading anything about it past that? Wow it seems so long ago I joined this thread and the trip seemed so far away, and now look we're down to crunch time! :thumbsup2 I never was able to book any Palo time online, but heard there should be spots open once we're onboard. Whatever everyone is up for we will sure try to fit in! I know we plan on getting off the ship on the Nassau day and doing some shopping and enjoying cabbage beach for a bit. I wish we could get a sneak peek at our navigator so I could have a general idea of when I want to do what beforehand. Either way looking forward to cruising with you all, I can't believe it's so close! :dance3:

All right guys, happy, happy day! I'm done feeling sorry for myself that DH isn't coming, and am really starting to get excited (again) about the trip. I really can't thank you all enough for all of the support and well wishes. Your support has gotten me through a very difficult week, and has made me excited about stepping out of my comfort zone to enjoy my and DD's vacation.
vmedisneymom, I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet doggie. (((HUGS)))
Now, about a DIS meet, I'm definitely down with that. When we cruised last time, we had a DIS meet at one of the clubs an hour before the fire drill. It was a great way to start off the cruise!! Secondly, Jey, I'm glad you brought up Palo because I was going to ask if I could *please* tag along with somebody to at least the brunch and high tea so I could still experience the best that Palo has to offer. (I also have a Palo dinner reservation, but I'm thinking of cancelling that one and maybe doing it solo on the 3 nighter, unless you guys want to try and do a DIS Palo dinner?!?) Anyway, my Palo Brunch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on the 22nd, and the High Tea for 3:00 p.m. on the 22nd so if you guys want to join me for either one (or, alternatively, try and do a big DIS meet for either or both), that would be super!! :goodvibes

I would also like to do a meet so that we can get to know everyone in person. This will be our 3rd and 4th cruise and we have met some really great people on these boards, Michelle keeps in touch with several of them. I have difficlty just getting my email let alone sending any and forget facebook so I get my updates from Michelle.
Looking foward to meeting you on Sunday, We will be at the port eairly. I am really looking foward to having the ship to ourselves on thursday morning before they let the new group of cruisers onboard.

If we did a DIS meet in a club or the Palo, these are adult only areas correct? Is there a way maybe we can get our kiddos together, so maybe they can meet new friends before they head to the kids clubs? I know my DS loves to meet new people, and would make his trips to the clubs easier if he had more kids he maybe knew a little bit. He will have his BFF Jordyn already, but I think that all the kids might benefit if they new a few more faces when they went to the kids clubs for the first time. Suggestions?

Well, since we all have Palo Brunch scheduled for the same time on the 22nd, let's see if they will sit us all together and we can make a big DIS group of it. Magie, I might totally join you guys for High Tea as well (and Missy, I'm going to do my best to talk to you into High Tea - - it's super fun!!). Anyone else who wants to change their times to tag along should definitely do so.

When we went, I think we met in Diversions, which is only an adult club at night. During the day, it is kid-friendly. You guys want to just say we'll do a DIS meet at Diversions at 2:00 p.m. on the 19th? Will that give us enough time to hang and then get to the fire drill?

That sounds great!.. What time do they do the muster drill? I would think an hour or so would be enough time to hang for a bit. My thing with Palo, is that I am not sure about my 8mo old DS. I am going to try not to use to much of the nursery with him.

 to you and your family. That is the most heartbreaking part of being a pet owner. I believe it is our one last act of true friendship we can give our furry little friends is to ease their pain and know when it's time to say goodbye. It's not easy but their little pawprints stay in our hearts forever.
Crystal I am so happy you and DD will be joining us afterall! I am totally up for the 2pm DIS meet at Diversions. We should be able to find it by then right? :rotfl: Depending on DD4 and how well she likes the clubs I am all for tea as well. How do I go about booking that? I would really like to do brunch at Palo, and am going to try and get that booked as soon as we get onboard. Do I just book both at the same time? If not at least with the Diversions meeting we'll have faces to put with screen names and will recognize each other on the ship.
Speaking of my DD4, she's sick! Ugh can you believe it?!?!?! She hasn't been sick since last year and of course she'd pick something up now. I mostly feel so bad for her because I hate it when she's sick anytime, it just breaks my heart. I just hope we can kick this bug to the curb in the next 48 hours!

I *think* Diversions is on Deck 3...but everything is so well marked that you should absolutely be able to find it. About booking the Tea and Brunch, I already have reservations for both, so just meet me at Palo at the respective times (11:00 a.m. for brunch and 3:00 p.m. for tea on the 22nd) and they will figure it out for us. The cruise staff are seriously so accommodating about everything...they will make it easy (and, since it looks like we are going to have a nice size DIS group for brunch and tea, I know they will be super accommodating about getting us all together anyway)! :goodvibes
I do hope that your DD starts feeling better. We dealt with that last year with my DD, but she ended up being just fine on the day of the cruise (of course, when the cruise staff asked if any of us had been sick in the past 72 hours, we told them absolutely NOT - LOL). Sending :grouphug: her way.
Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

I do plan to suck it up and take him to the nursery once or twice.. because I to was to experience all the cruise has to offer. If you can suck it up and leave DH home hundreds of miles away, I can suck it up and leave my boy a few hundred yards away.. :worship:
I am sure he will be fine. I have not read or heard anywhere that anyone has EVER had any issues with their kids being mistreated or neglected in the nursery or the clubs. Which makes it easier to leave them.

OMG did I almost have a heart attack yesterday. I called DCL to get the final details about paperwork and what was required of me to bring. (This is my first cruise so I didnt want to forget anything) and that man told me that my passport had to be valid 6 months after our sailing date. I realized that everyone but mine was valid(Mine expires 2/2011). He said I had to bring my original birth certificate (Which I dont have). I almost broke down in tears.
I called again after trying to find my birth certificate so that someone could tell me what to do. It turns out that the 6 month rule was only for the Med. Cruises. :rolleyes1 What a relief. That guy ruined my morning. As long as it worked out in the end I am o.k.:wizard:

We will be flying out of here at 8:40 in the morning, less then 24 hours. I still have my paking to do (luckly I only have to pack for myself). I have to finish the wash and go get my nails done then I will come home and pack. I am a nortoreous over packer so it should be fun. I plan to pack for only 4 days and then it will probably be too much.
We will be staying at the Raddison on Saterday evening hope to see some of you there, if not we will see you all on Sunday.
Those of you who are driving please drive carefully, Crystal just take it easy on the drive and stop often to take a brake and strech your muscles. Can't wait to see each and everyone of you.
In just about 48 hours we will be getting ready to board the shuttle for the port and start our "WONDERFUL" cruise. see you then.

We are flying out of Kansas City at 640am tomorrow, and are also staying at the Radisson... We are supposed to land in Orlando at 2:09pm....So hopefully we will be at the hotel by 4 or so. I am sure we will be in need of a rest after a day full of travelling.

We are doing the Stingray adventure in Nassau and the Snorkeling adventure over the reef from Castaway key again this year. Hope to meet you all. Safe travels to each of you and God bless.:dance3::cheer2::cool1:

finally finished all the packing and shockingly I only have 6 bags total, 5 checked and 1 carry on, oh and I did find room for the kitchen sick :rotfl2: For a notorious overpacker like myself I am pretty proud that I narrowed it down to 5 bags for 4 people.
We are leaving about 7am tomorrow morning drive from Atlanta all the way to PC and staying at the Radisson as well. Hope to see some of you tomorrow and safe travels.

OK you kitchen sink packers. Now I'm worried we're going to be walking around naked. :yay::scared1: For 3 of us I have 2 checked bags and really 1 carry on. The other two carry ons are dress up clothes for DD, meds and toiletries, then a bag with the laptop and camera. Now I can't find my shoes of course! This is nothing new, I need a beeper on them.

We may be the last of the crew leaving from outside Florida. We're not hitting the road until 1:30 AM tomorrow morning from the Atlanta area (Cobb County parent.)
We'll be traipsing around Port Canaveral around 10:00 AM or so (since we're taking the scenic route on the coast.) Since this is our first time, It's a little surreal and we don't know what to expect.

Welcome back everyone! We had an awesome time on our first cruise! Can't wait to sail again. Everyone kept saying the waves the first night and then again on the last night were out of the norm, but honestly I didn't think much about it. :confused3 I did enjoy watching the pool splash out and have some cool pics of it doing that the first night while sitting on the deck watching football. I said I'd be the one sitting up there asking what weather? LOL. Sadly our traveling friends missed dinner the first night and left early the last night due to motion sickness. I am so thankful I wasn't affected at all. DD and I enjoyed a late night game of soccer and basketball the first night since no one was out wandering about but us. :thumbsup2
Loved the FE gifts! They were so awesome! DD really enjoyed coming back to the room and finding little gifts each night. We gifted the cruise CD's. For those of you who did not get a label for yours and would like one please let me know. I totally forgot a bag of FE gifts. :scared1: Half of the labels and some pirate cards for the kids. The cards are individualized for each child so if you'd like the card and a label for your CD just let me know and PM me your address and I'd be more than happy to send them.
Thanks everyone for a great first cruise, it was just wonderful.

We arrived home about 10pm last night. Spent most of the day at the airport. Even with the sea sickness (I didn't make it to dinner the first or the last night of this half of our cruise) we had a great time. For the 2nd half Michelle discovered sea bands for me and I am here to tell you that they work great. I did not have any further problems.
The FE gifts were great and such a variety, we received so many gifts that I wasn't sure that we would have room for all of them in our bags.
I am already looking foward to our next cruise in Oct 2011, I hope we will be able to spend some time at the parks on that trip.
We enjoyed meeting so many of you and hope we will see some of you in the future. Until the next time happy sailing.

We arrived back Saturday night… after the cruise we spent two days in St. Augustine just relaxing and playing in the surf. We absolutely loved the FE gifts! Thanks to everyone. Every time we went to the room, our son just ran to the door to see if there were any more gifts. This was the first time we had every participated, so this was all new to us… we learned so much about the FE gifts just by looking at what we received. :thumbsup2
We overlooked the fact that we really should have labeled our gifts… we thought about it a few weeks ago then it was one of the things we forgot about. The adult gift we gave was the magnet with the picture of the ship at Castaway Cay and it said it was from the Murray’s from Chattanooga – the picture is our picture that we took last year during our first cruise. We gave suckers and beach balls for the kids. Next year we’ll be more prepared for the FE exchange now that actually know how it works and what to expect. We were kind of overwhelmed by the response and by the gifts! :worship:
We already booked our cruise for Oct 2011 while we were onboard.

We've been crazy busy since we got back Monday.
Thanks everyone for the FE gifts! The cd of music is playing right now!
My daughter had the perfect 30th birthday sitting on Castaway Cay beach with her family around her! We were the abnoxious ones first in line at Captain Jack in full pirate outfits! (I looked like someone who should have been on a Captain Morgan bottle!)
Great fun!

Also thank you fir all the kind words about our sweet pup. we had already headed to wdw and potter. House feels kind of empty but our golden retriever Nola is sure a sweetie so that helps. Wishing all of you the best! And hoping to visit soon :). Thanks emsabems for not telling on me ;)

Wow - that's great! This time we'll have to make sure we meet. I have to try to come up with a new magnet or something for our new cruise on the Dream. I can't really use one of the ship like I did this past cruise, since we don't have one of the Dream yet. But now we have a full year to plan our FE gifts better. This was our first year doing the FE exchange and now we know a lot more about them.
Feel free to join the thread for the new cruise! :cool1:
I love the title they came up with for the cruise on the other thread... "Once Upon a Dream" :thumbsup2

I enjoyed the fe too - had not a clue but thought our gifts were ok once I saw how one actually worked! Everyone was so thoughtful! Everybody have a great day!!!

All I really meant was to just add a post to the new thread to introduce yourself. I’ve never actually “joined” either thread either. But if you want to subscribe to the thread (I think you’ll get e-mail alerts or something when there are new posts) – just click on “Thread Tools” at the top of the thread and then on “Subscribe to this Thread”. Hope that helps!
