View Full Version : need help on a bug..
Just seen a six legged bug crawling at a good rate of speed on the driveway...it had pincers in the front, and the legs on it were in the first half of its body while the last half was real soft and had 2 antenna looking things coming out of its abdomen..
don't think it was a type of beetle or termite...it had a brownish head and the back of it was white/grayish, looked for pics of it, but no luck, anybody have any ideas what this monster could be???

No clue, shep.
It looked like the things in the pic? Are those termites? I didn't think termites spent anytime above ground. Sounds hideous though.

Was it chasing a snake Shep? ;)
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist! :)
I don't know what it is, but please, don't send any to Canada! :)
I also have no idea what this bug is, sure hope you squashed it. Before it multiplies wouldn't want too many of these bugs around, somehow they don't sound like a bug thats beneficial.

Sorry I can't help.
I did a search on pincer insect and this is what I came up with:

Did it look like any of those? I can't think of what it could be. I don't think termites are the kind of bugs to just crawl across the driveway. We've turned over rotten pieces of lumber in the back yard and the termites there scrambled for shelter.
Good luck!
Thanks tigh
I think its a earwig...

When I was reading your first post, I was thinking earwig but then I saw the picture and they look nothing like the earwigs that we have around these parts. Hmmmm.
