Sign up now for this great beach day that is super family friendly!

We'll make it easy and take care of everything, so your only job is to have fun! After meeting you at the pier, we'll start to make our way towards Chileno Bay, about a 30 minute drive.

Chileno Bay is a wonderful area for kids especially because the water tends to be a bit calmer as it's protected by the bay. This means it's an ideal spot for snorkeling and other water activities!

Chileno Bay is nice. On our last visit to Cabo on another cruise line we took an excursion to Chileno Bay to go snorkeling. We took a catamaran out there and there is some okay snorkeling right off the beach. We swam in to the beach and hung out for a little bit. It was not very touristy at all. Looked just like a quiet cove where locals were visiting.

Yay! I love my rep at shoretrips, they put this together for us:

FAMILY BEACH DAY IN CABO
<b>Included in this beach package</b>
• Round-trip transportation is included
• English speaking guide - great with kids!
• Boxed lunches for everyone
• Activities for the kids (snorkel, boogie board and more)
• Chairs and umbrellas for adults

Once you arrive, we'll get the kiddies set up with an English speaking guide who will teach them how to snorkel and boogie board! We will also have a bunch of toys for sandcastle fun! Let the creativity begin!

Adults, we've got you covered to. Lounge on your beach chairs under your very own umbrella... or take a dip in these lovely waters!

All in all a wonderful day, perfectly planned.

SOO happy. We had such trouble, we wanted a kid friendly BEACH, not a pool, in Cabo and for some reason that was nearly impossible! I had tentatively held the Resort day through DCL, I am so excited...love them!

This sounds awesome! Do you mind me asking how much shoretrips is charging per adult/child? Also, do you know which resort you'll be going to?

I'm very torn about what to do in Cabo. I've booked DCL tours for each day, as I'm worried that it'll take too long to tender without DCL excursions (i.e. we'll be last off the boat!), and we have so little time in Cabo. Has anyone heard reports from recent MR cruises about tender wait-times for those not doing a DCL excursion?

Once again, thanks to all of you for upping the excitement levels- my DH thinks I'm CRAZY!:yay:

Just wanted to share..

Was planning on booking our Sept. 2012 trip on board, but the Fantasy is already booking up the room I needed. There are 5 of us and there are about 9 8D categories (large window) that will fit five..it's almost half the cost of the next category that will fit five (4D) and even if we got two rooms...the inside staterooms are more $$ b/c of the virtual stateroom that it doesn't save us much if at all to book two. And we really want a window...so I had reserved one (only 4 left) last week, was calling again to re-reserve it, hoping I could do this until we sail...the Disney rep took pity on me and put an extended hold on our ressie so that I could take advantage of the on board specials but still hold the 8D room...I did not know they could do that...so happy he could, now we only have to pay half the deposit which will be soo nice! :)

Tara

Thanks for sharing Tara. That is very creative planning- so smart! Just wanted to clarify...do we get a discount (10%?) and reduced deposit (half) when we book our next cruise onboard?

It actually isn't a resort, it is a beach experience, and I believe it is going to be $75/$60. I'm waiting for clarification on a couple of things including length of time, I should know today. I could possibly add you...this isn't a regular excursion, it is something they put together for my group (there are 12 of us). I explained my dilemma in Cabo, and asked them to find me ocean that we could actually swim in that wasn't entirely snorkeling based, because we have kids from 5-16, nine of them. One nice thing is this is JUST us. So they'll wait for us, whatever happens with the tender, and we can leave when we want without waiting for others.

Reports I've read from recent trips state the tendering in Cabo goes quickly and smoothly. I believe they have 3 tenders working at a time with one of them being a fairly large catamaran.

Happy Birthday to my DD Cecily!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:
We are going to DL on March 12th and we told her it was for her Birthday. We also got her an Alice Dress to wear to DL for her birthday and the Tea Party on board. She knows we are going on the cruise but does not know when. We are going to surprise her when we get to the port... It has been the hardest secret to keep from her. She thinks we are going sometime in May.:lmao::rotfl2: Ill post her video reaction when we get back!

This may be affected by the new addition of the Carnival Splendor back to the rotation. This was the ship that had an engine fire and floated out in the Pacific for a few days. It is back in service and is on the agenda to be in port with us on our second day in Cabo.

Thankfully it's only the two ships in port that day as earlier in the week 4 ships are in port one day!

Our first day in Cabo however - we are on our own.

Hi Mindy,

Just so you are aware, I read on two separate trip reports that the "Tea" did not happen. I will try to find the links for you. I think it was the last two sailings. I would hate to see you plan something for your daughter and it not be available anymore. I know you were looking forward to it.
I will look for the link later tonight. Still working right now.

What dining rotation should I request? I was going to just let it be and be happy with what is assigned to us. But, I just read a TR where someone was unhappy with Parrot Cay on formal night.

So, should I request a specific rotation and which one? Do I just contact DCL customer service? It is not already on our documentaiton is it?

I am the same way. I have been avoiding trying on my dresses for dinner in case they are a little tight. I joined Weight Watchers in October and did great for about 3 weeks then all the holidays hit. Then we had our big snow. So, now I have gotten serious again but it is a little late and I certainly am not going to be watching my points on the cruise. I enjoy food way too much for that.

I just got off the phone with DCL. I got a price for our next trip. She said it could be put on hold till March 7th. If it was on hold, I couldn't get the benefits from booking onboard. It all had to be done on the ship. Oh well, I will cross my fingers. I know the room #'s we want and the price now. I will just have to get there quickly!!!

Here is more info Mindy, from someones TR.

I posted it on the main board but there was no princess tea on our cruise. We took a ship tour and were told that they had received uncharacteristically poor reviews in the first few cruises and they are trying to figure out how to address some of the complaints. One area they are trying to address is character interaction. Since they did a princess tea and also had a princess autograph session later in the day, it was, according to him, princess overload.

We emailed our TA with our requests last week ie pack n play, high chair, and our dining rotation.

I asked for 2 Animators Palates, or 2 Tritons and I specifically said to avoid Parrot Cay.

I guess we will see what happens when we get on.

!!!

What do you mean avoid Parrot Cay? You don't get to choose what restaurants you dine in. You visit each restaurant twice and depending on the rotation, one is three times.
When people request dining they are requesting a rotation, meaning
PATPATP, which stands for Parrot cay, Animators, Tritons, parrot Cay , Animators, Tritons, Parrot Cay.
The other rotations are APTAPTA OR TAPTAPT.........
When people request rotations it is usually so they are dining in Tritons for formal night( it's the fanciest of the three). Parrot Cay is a tropical restaurant, but the menu is wonderful.
Just thought I would let you know.....I am assuming this is your first Disney cruise?

Oppps!ETA: looks like the rotations are different.... ATTPPAP.? strange.

Oh, maybe! I just saw the request for a restaurant 2x and thought I'd pipe in!
I remember our first cruise......it was all so much to take in. We actually missed quite a bit. That is why #2 was so exciting!
Now, it has become a bit of an addiction.:worship:

Actually, we really like Animators on Formal night, being all black and white....but that is just us.
We have had parrot Cay twice on formal. The waiters still dress in tuxes. Just the decor is a little off...
I believe it's the same menu in all restaurants is it not?

Shoretrips, which is a company that I use that puts together tours all over the world, created this one for me. Apparently it is run by a local tour guide that they have used many times, that runs other tours, but agreed to put together something like this for shoretrips. They might even make it a permanent excursion now...I think they should name it after me, lol.

So it isn't a specific tour company that I signed up through, I am going through Shoretrips, who contacted them and put this together. I've used them many times before and most of my clients are using them for ziplining...they also arranged my whale watching in puerto vallarta with a marine biologist in a small boat, but that is one they offered anyway. This Cabo trip is unique because basically they put together a private excursion for me.

Sorry I couldn't be more help...you are welcome to join us if you'd like...but this tour isn't bookable except through my channels because it is MY tour, lol. Only my people will be on it. Shoretrips did a great job with my request and added several things, including boogie board and snorkeling lessons for the kids. We have 12 people on it currently.

I don't know but that is where we are planning to go first stop. I think I read in a trip report you can take a water taxi over to it. I have to look again.

From the pier you can walk to Medano Beach, take a water taxi, or a land taxi.

Walk... takes about 30 mins and it is about a mile
Water taxi... about 5-7 minutes but you do have to get out of the boat out in the water and walk to the beach. You can also take a glass bottomed boat and go out by the arches first. When you are ready to leave just stand up and wave for the water taxis and you will have people running to help you.
Taxi..about 10 mins and they will drop you off at whatever bar/hotel/restaurant that you want to go to.

I would suggest if you have children with you go to the Sandbar which is further down the beach and not so "spring break college" crazy. If you are looking for a wild party head to the first bars which are The Office and the Mango Deck.

You will be able to see the Wonder docked right in front of you when you are sitting on Medano Beach. It almost feels like you could just swim to her.

Oh my. :scared1: I would have had a heart attack. Glad you found it. The Camera bag? What was it doing in there? The Pixies were watching out for you.

I had it in my camera case from my last trip. I put it in there thinking I always bring my camera when I travel. Didn't think I would forget putting it there. Duh. lol

I will definately say hello and I encourage anyone to say hi to me also. I will try to do the 3pm promenade meet-up. I am with a group of 18 total people so not sure if I can break away at that time. My family loves everything Disney but I am the only one that does the discussion boards.

Thanks. Do you know if you can get a glassbottom boat right there after you tender or do you have to pre-book? Do you know how much they generally run?

You can pre-book it with Cabo San Lucas Tourshttp://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Glass-Bottomed-Boat.htm
for $9/adult and $6/kids.

You can also just barter with them at the pier and probably get a better deal.

I have heard that a water taxi straight from the pier to the beach is $3/per person.

Thanks so much! This helps a lot. I think we might try to find someone to take us to the arches before the beach. I am glad you said that about The Office because I did not realize that was a party one as well. I had heard about Mango Deck. What about Tabasco? I heard that one should be kid friendly.

We are going back to the airport on Sunday the 13th so we can catch a shuttle. We are a family of Three if we can find another family the cost would be $68.00 (price for 6-10 people). We could then split the cost and it would come to $34.00 per family. The shuttle company is Lotus. PM and let me know if you want to join us, we plan to be back at LAX for a 1100 pick up. Thanks Kathy

ATTPPAP.? strange.

This is not our first Disney Cruise... we don't like Parrot Cay and thus the request to not dine there any more than necessary. We would prefer to eat at the buffet than at Parrot Cay but... different strokes for different folks I suppose. I am sure DCL will honour our request, we are not the first to request this dining rotation.

May I ask why you don't like Parrot Cay? They are all fine with me. I like the tropical feel of PC. Hey, as long as I am eating I don't care where it is....can't miss a meal on the ship :lmao:

We always say that one night we aren't going to get dressed up for dinner and we are going to eat at BBB/Topsiders, but then we decide we would miss our servers too much and we go to our rotation.

In Cabo the Mago Deck is by far the place that attracts the rowdy spring breakers! The office has a mix of both families and party goers and Tabascos is totally kid friendly. I really like the Sandbar because it is a little further down the beach and totally away from all the hoopla of the "party crowd". We went there last year and the staff was very inviting and they took very good care of us. The prices were also very cheap for Cabo standards. Just please remember that you are in Mexico so it will not be anything fancy. Basically chairs and umbrellas right on the beach and a small shack that they use to cook food in.

We didn't like the accousitcs at Parrot Cay ie it was too noisy, and it felt too casual for us. We LOVED AP and Lumieres on the Magic. We just didn't care for PC.

It's funny that a couple of people have mentioned how cool PC is on Pirate Night... that was the night we gave up on Parrot Cay and went to topsiders for dinner. We checked the menu earlier in the day and decided to go elsewhere for dinner that night. I liked our A la Carte dinner at TS, I had a great steak dinner, the service was very slow though.

We bit the bullet and made some changes to our trip. We cancelled both of our Palo schedules and also our Cabo excursion.

We're keeping the cooking demostration excursion in PV, but winging it in Cabo. The first stop we'll probably leave the kids in the Clubs while DW and I explore. Then, if we find something interesting for the kids, we'll go back on the second stop.

Since we're summering just North of PV this year (Rincon de Guayabitos), we'll have 5-7 days to play in and around PV.

:grouphug: Denise! So sorry! And Hope! You, too!! A professor of mine in college had a great cure for colds (Zicam and things like that try to duplicate it) but you chew a pure Zinc tablet...AWFUL TASTING...then chase it down with orange juice...the two combined have a great effect on colds..it's no fun getting all that zinc out of your teeth..but I resort to it when I want a cold to end sooner...also a special tea..
any hot tea, add honey, lemon, bit of cayenne pepper and cinnamon...

Hoping you all get over this! I panic before a trip and selfishly wish we could just quarantine ourselves the week before, but we're soooo busy every day of the week, we can't skip anything! The girls have an Irish dance performance the night before..their hair has to be in Irish style..so they'll be forced to get on the plane with crazy hair...hoping we'll have time to wash it before the cruise at the hotel!! So much to do!!! It may never get done!!

Look forward to seeing you all! I'll be the one with many young adults!! 6 kids between the ages of 11-19! :)

I know that it is the pollen and is effecting my family. Hopefully the rain this weekend will help that.

It looks like it will be in the low 70s next weekend in CA~! :woohoo:

I know how you feel, it most likely is allergies, Eliza has been under the weather for 3 days, stuffy head, headache, no fever...the pollen count according to the weather.com for my zip code is in the danger zone! This wind whipping everything up doesn't help..I may have to break down and give her some Claritin or something, I told her the CA weather would really help her!

Hope your dd recovers soon!!

Thanks Tara! You would know how bad it is here!! :) She is at the golf course right now. I had to buy some allergy stuff last night. We are all taking it.

My Bonine was ordered. It should be delivered soon. I will take one Sunday morning. I have been reading how rocky the ship is on the first and last night. I don't want to be sick & miss anything!!

Hey Everyone,

I was curious about tips, even though this will be our third Disney Cruise. We have always left cash but reading on some TR's, and such, people say it is more traditional to leave the tips with you on=board account and the money will be transferred into the person's ship account. What is the best option in your opinions, is it better tax wise for the recipient to receive cash?

Thanks,

Tax wise? Well, do they have to pay taxes? If they do, I would hope it isn't as much as we have to pay. We put the tips on our onboard account and if we feel that the person gave us excellent service, we put some cash in the envelope along with their piece of paper that says we charged our tips. It seems that they would get the money faster if you gave them cash. But we use our Disney Dollars to pay for our tips

We do the same. Easy peasy.
Never thought about the taxes. Maybe cash is a better option for them....

We also bring an extra calling card or two as well for the outstanding service from the staff in the kids clubs that don't receive tips. They seemed to really like that. Some of the councilors looked so young( 18, 20 or so) and I know how expensive it can be for them to call their families. Their job is so important. Especially in the teen club. My son loved it in there, and I was really impressed with the programing that took place.

Just left urgent care with our DD. She has an allergic reaction to the medicine we were using to treat the injury to her face and within minutes she had a huge rash all over her entire body. She has asthma so I was concerned about her having an attack. The Dr gave her some medicine and she is all better now...BUBBLE WRAP!!! I cannot believe that was our 2nd trip to the urgent care in a week!!

We will be traveling tomorrow to tour a college about 3 hours south of where we live and then doing our final shopping!! It is getting so close. Next week at this time we will be in California!!

All of St. Charles county where we are was having some severe weather. No actual tornados tonight. I feel for you and Kim having to be out of town now and then get back, pack and leave again.

Did Kim tell you I teach Hospitality, Tourism and Event planning? I am a cruise addict. Love it! I thrive off of researching and finding information on cruising for all my friends and coworkers. I am always finding something and booking it for someone. Unfortunately, it doesn't benefit me, no IATA number. I also teach Sabre in my class.

Taxes......??? .......hmmmm......haven't thought about that one......the Wonder is Bahamian flagged so do they really have to pay US taxes? I know the ship has to be in accordance with US laws since they visit US ports but I wouldn't think the employees are subject to US taxes.

A week from today we will be driving to the airport and trying to corral 6 youths with us! (ages 11-19..oh wait, my oldest niece just turned 20 this week!) So I guess she's really not a youth, but being my first niece she'll always be a little girl to me! :)
It's going to be interesting, I need to go measure all my suitcases, we are not checking anything....I'm sure when the airlines made that change to start charging for every checked bag, they changed the measurements on carry ons...where is my measuring tape??
This will be some creative packing! :)
Oh, and hopefully finishing the bulk of our FE gifts today!

Slowly marking things off my to-do list...popcorn::
Create charts for Speech & Debate tournament (held the weekend we get back) recruit over 200 community judges for the event.
Decorate and complete Father/Daughter dance for 100+ girls tonight
Grade my writing class papers/create a reading test for Nicholas Nickleby and the Hawk that Dare Not Hunt by Day.
Put Graze-on on my pastures, haul 25 more bales of hay into the loft to last while we're gone. Try to find that mole/mouse that keeps burrowing in my remaining hay..stinker!
Do about 15 loads of laundry, sorting spring/winter clothes :laundy:
Send clothes to the cleaners
Somehow hem the shoulders of the formal dress my daughter finally found
Finish Fish Extender gifts
Find the passports
Plan for our troop meeting Monday
Bring snacks to Sunday School tomorrow
Pay bills :eek2:
Print out all the confirmations for rental car, hotel, excursion..make a list of contact numbers for house sitters
PACK..oh my goodness...:lmao:

Really? We're going on vacation?? At least I haven't had the nightmares the TX mom has been having...thank goodness for the little things!

Hope everyone gets their to-do's done!! Especially those traveling this weekend, I just can't seem to get anything done during the week, this weekend must be do it all or bust....:scared1:

Disney sure needs to get it together! When I called yesterday, they told me that for our specific voyage, formal night is night 3.

However, I also sent them an e-mail that said:

"I am booked on the Disney Wonder Mexican Riviera cruise leaving next
Sunday, March 13. I understand our itinerary is unique from other Wonder
Mexican Riviera sailings in that we have two days in Cabo that are not
back to back. I am wondering how this will affect what nights the
formal, semi-formal, and pirate nights are.

Can you please tell me which nights correspond to formal night, pirate
night, and semi-formal night? Thanks!"

The reply I received was:

"Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual"-- jeans, khakis and capris are permitted;
however, we ask that Guests refrain from wearing shorts, swimwear or
tank tops in the dining rooms.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject
to change:

*Nights 1, 3,4, 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 5: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit."

Can't believe they changed formal night. Well, I think that will work better than Cabo day.

So..we made a packing list this morning and started putting everything in packing cubes and the suitcases. Plan to finish up tomorrow with packing clothes

Still working on buying FE gifts

I went to the gym this afternoon and waaay overdid it Sore & exhausted...Now all I feel like to doing is laying here in bed lounging with my laptop, wishing I could close my eyes and turn in for the night...but can't...too much left to do.

This time next week my family will be at the Doubletree San Pedro. We'll have enjoyed a swim, the hot chocolate chip cookies....walked around the pier....preparing to board the Wonder the next morning!! So close!!

Logging off. Back to the grind!

This happened to me as well. I was told night two. When I said, " are you sure? This formal night ballyhoo is irritating me. I don't like not knowing, lol!

In Atlanta right now, just had drinks with Minniemamamax (okay, I think I spelled that wrong, I did have an Italian Sangria earlier). Our girls are cheering this weekend, and we are both somewhat put out that we couldn't spend this weekend packing for leaving next weekend!

We also discussed cheer, Madeline says part of the cheer is going to incorporate "jump, shake your booty" although instead of saying "Hey Vikings" it will be "Hey Disney fants". My girls LOVE that cheer.

Wow, busy weekend! I am still trying to finalize our plans while in LA and have not even started packing! I still need to try on all my clothes to see what fits and what needs to go to the cleaners. Trying to do some last minute shopping today and find DS some nice "brown" shoes for formal night. I can only find black shoes for boys. He is wearing a navy blazer with khaki pants. I am just looking for loafers or some other similar shoe. The only loafers I can find are at Dillards and are $45.00. I do not want to spend that on a growing boys shoe.
On a positive, fun note, we are going to see Beauty and the Beast Broadway version tonight. We have been looking forward to that and it will get us ready for the shows next week. We leave in just 4 more days! :cool1:

Phew, glad Saturday is OVER. We went to a college to tour it for my dd. She loved it and will be applying there ASAP. She is finishing her junior year.
The college is small, only 3200 students.

Anyway, now we have only five more sleeps before we board the plan!

How is the weather in Atlanta Dicecatt?? I bet you had a lot of rain! Hope you stayed dry. You must hurry home and start packing :)

I will try my best to stop by the Promede lounge at 3 on the first day. If not, most of you can find me in the Rainforest room or by the quiet cove pool.

The first day, I will have on a pink Mickey Mouse shirt, dd will have on a purple one, dh will have on a blue one, other dd will have on a gray one. We will match :) I plan on arriving at the port at 10:30. Our shuttle is picking us up at 9 AM at Ontario airport.

Can't forget to wear tennis shoes when we head to the plane since we are ziplining in PV. I don't think flipflops will do.

Starting to feel like crunch time,:hourglass even my 12 yo is afraid she is forgeting something!

Woo Hoo!! We leave THIS WEEK!!! Hurry up FRIDAY!

DH is not thrilled to be flying. Actually, he is terrified! He hates the thought of having no control. He THINKS he has control when we drive places. He said he wants to board the plane and sleep until it lands! As you can probably tell, he hasn't flown much in his life. Now, I HATE flying. I too am scared of it, but I realize if I want to get to CA, I have to overcome that and relax. (and pray!)

Have a great day everyone. Our time is almost here!!!

I guess we should start thinking about the packing. Had a very busy weekend of car dealership, yard work, derby races, and a birthday party. Did make it to Costco for some "supplies" for our carry-on bag. ;) Still need to get to Wal-Mart or Target for the over-the-door bathroom thingy and some other necessities.

Very excited and a tad nervous......

DW packed DD12, DD5 and herself yesterday afternoon. I am mentally packing thinking about what I need to take. Our flight to LA is at 6 pm on Friday. I expect I will pack on Friday. The only thing I have to make sure I have is the camera.

Not sure if Maeve is going to do the cheer. She is very nervous about it since she has no cheering experience.

This is my one day to myself. I spent the first 2 hours of it dealing with the onerous request from my Home Owner's Association. "We hereby demand that you rid your front yard of the forest of weeds that are growing there."

They have no sense of humor, or adventure. I think it's time to buy a blow torch and some propane. Oh, and get something to get rid of the weeds. My back is sore now.

I noticed that Wonder arrived back in LA about 45 minutes later than normal yesterday. And departed last night about a half hour later than normal.

I wonder what happened. :confused3

Oh well. 3 more work nights for me, and then I'm off Friday. I will use that day to force my body back to a normal sleep/wake cycle and by Sunday I should be ready for play in the day and sleep at night. I really don't want to be roaming the decks at 2am. Although that might give me some great photos of the crew at work.

I'm sick and DW is coming down with the same thing. Sinus problems and a loss of my sense of taste and smell. I want to go eat some chips and dip, and make a milk shake, but I don't think I'd really enjoy them. I think I'll suffer through it though.

I'm really ready to have someone "Peel me a grape" though. Can't wait until Sunday.

Also, I found out that my father in law's birthday is the Saturday we are gone, so we having a dinner/party for him at a restaurant in San Pedro this Saturday evening. This should be fun.

Love the new suitcases, Dave!

I have done nothing but lay out every princess dress we own on the couch. It is drowning in Princess dresses. It was worse until my friend Kim came by and borrowed a bunch to try on her daughter, the pile was taller than me.

Well, okay, I haven't done NOTHING. I do have a couple of laundry baskets I've been tossing things into.

Got home from the cheer competition at 6:30 AM :scared1:. Hardly slept at all on the bus, I'm totally wiped out. Bummed too...DD12's team, undefeated all year, lost...they had 9.04 and the winning team had 9.07. a measely .03 points, and it was due to the judges making a mistake the day before on a deduction...they agreed it wasn't an error but wouldn't fix it because they had already released standings . Ash was really upset, but on the upside, they had a phenominal performance yesterday, maybe the best all year! And they were the second highest score of the entire day (they are just used to being the highest, lol).

I'm usually much better planned...I have so much to do before I leave Friday that I feel unsettled.

Yay! No weather delays, I remember back in 2008 all the airports were snowed in and many friends lost out on their March Break vacations. I have been keeping my fingers crossed for everyone this year.

I am hoping that we will be up and at em on Saturday for our Disneyland day.
The kids are excited about AC they love the TVs in the headrests... trying to get them to sleep may be a challenge :)

Dicecatt! Congrats to you all at the ATlanta competition! It is never a fun life lesson to realize the ball didn't bounce the way it's supposed to!! But, knowing they all did their best must make all of you excited! Can't wait to see them on the ship do their talent :)

I am nowhere ready for anything, I've really tried to think when I will have time to pack and ultimately I have 5 free hours (that's if I don't stay up late past midnight robbing sleep house) to get 5 of us packed, get the house ready for house-sitters, get all the animals feed stocked and loaded, and finish the FE gifts...just warning all of you, I may be needing to borrow some kilts, sweats, brushes, toothpaste...at this point, I can only guarantee I manage to get 80% of what is intended to be packed actually in a suitcase.

Sigh...but a happy sigh, even without matching clothes or an even number of shoes..we'll be on a cruise and no one will notice!!! Oh, and a cocktail sounds really good about now...although I probably don't know the name of any of them! :)

Yea!!! Monday is OVER....Bring on Tuesday!!!! I am going to bed so I can get onto Tuesday!! Four more nights of sleeping in my own bed for 11 nights....I sure will miss my bed.

I wonder if DCL has changed the bedding on the ships? The comforter/bedspread they had on their beds were so thin. I like to have blankets or a heavy comforter. Carnival Cruise Line sure has DCL beat when it comes to their bedding. I LOVE LOVE CCL's bedding. Has anyone ever asked for more blankets in their stateroom? I will be asking this time.

Yes, Lent starts tomorrow. A cruise ship is probably not the best place to try to give up any vices (maybe gambling, but the NCAA tournament starts on St. Patrick's Day so that is a non-starter).

DD5 had pancakes for breakfast this morning, is having them for lunch and, of course, will be having them for dinner. If I give up pancakes for Lent, but have french toast on the ship have I kept my promise?

Can you believe this post makes 2200 +++!! Wow we are a gabby bunch!

Diecatt tell the girls congrats and we totally understand how coming in second when you are used to being number one feels! Our girls took 1st in their division and 1st overall at their dance competition last weekend. Kenna competes dance now, but did compete cheer for 5 years.

Melissa just wondering how we would be able to get our cheer bows from you and I want to pay you??

Maeve's mom (sp?) if she wants to be in the talent show it is totally fine. Some of the girls that are signed up are dancers and not cheerleaders and I am sure there are a few that have never done either and are still coming along for the experience. Just come to the meeting and let her decide.

When I sign us up for the talent show I will ask them if there is any possibility that the girls could practice in the place the show is held during one of the sea days. If I have the answer before the meeting I will just tell you and if not I will call your room/wave phone and leave a message.

Denise...WOW giving up the Disboards!! We will miss you!!

Is anyone else staying at the Doubletree Saturday night?

WHOOT right back at ya ;) This is my 1st Disney Cruise also, 7th cruise in total. There 18 of us in my group, all family. This is all of our first Disney Cruise but we do Disneyland a few times a year together. Sooooo excited!!!!

Our family too! We have 14 adults and 12 children ranging from 15 months to 17 years. Disneyland is about 6 hours drive for us and is a easy weekend getaway for us (Peoria, AZ). When the kids were little we would go 3..4.. times a year for a day or two. Now we go twice a year and take about 5 days each time. Disney is the happiest place on earth of course:goodvibes Is it Friday yet.... I feel like a kid in acandy store, so excited to be going on a DISNEY Cruise.....

Weather looks great doesn't it! Mexican Riviera is gorgeous this time of year. I have been to the ports before on Princess, but the rest of my group hasn't. I am grateful that their 1st Disney cruise memories will be of good weather rather than gray and gloomy....

Our group will have Disney Characters stuck to their doors, stop by and say Hi, we are all super friendly! Most of us are on Decks 6 & 7. We have 3 staterooms down on the deck that we get on and off the ship too...

We all live in the Phoenix area too so we go often. In 2005 I may 8 trips to Disneyland. hehe
I have wanted to do a Disney Cruise for a long time and I am very excited that my whole family is going. My girlfriend and her 2 daughters won't make it but it will still be a great trip.

ZERO anxiety or anticipation...where is my pulse?

I guess I have too much going on - Thursday night though...

My daughter does not live with me - so not having her around is probably killing the buzz and she's not answering her phone this week. Friday I am giong to eat lunch with her at school (as a surprise) and then having a birthday party for her with family at the Embassy Suites near the airport (it's cheaper to get a room than to park the car!) so she and her cousins can swim, before we fly out first thing Saturday morning. Thursday night, I think I'll go into overdirve.

I expect that at some point I'll get antsy and tell family they need to leave so we can get to bed, so we can sleep and make the morning arrive sooner! :)

Lent is also about giving more of yourself not just giving up something. So we have decided we are just going to practice being MORE Patient while we wait in long lines, being EXTRA Kind to all the children running excitedly up and down the halls and in the pools, being EXTRA Forgiving with each other when we do lose our patience or aren't as kind as we should be, and of course be EXTRA generous with the $$ we leave behind in Mexico (they do need it after all). Do you think purchases made in Mexico can count towards our Tithing?

Now fasting on Friday, don't think we will succeed on that one. It is Lobster night after all? We are invoking the special travel dispensation this time around.

With this approach we should be able to both "walk in the way" for the beginning of our Lenten Journey and have an absolutely fantastic family vacation.

DD still running a fever. Hope it breaks soon. Probably back to the DOC's tomorrow to do my best to convince him a secondary infection is present and please start her on antibiotics so her sinuses clear up before getting on a plane on Friday. Please pray.

Thank You
EGP

PS - This vacation can't start soon enough.

Good luck and get lots of rest.

I agree. Patience is something I hope many people practice. During Lent, I always try to eliminate a vice, add a positive to my life, and help others. Love the idea of $$ in Mexico. You are so right. So many people there are in need.

As far as Fridays, My family only abstains from meat. Lobster night is a go!!

I hope DD is feeling better. My DS was great after he began antibiotics. After 24 hrs you wouldn't even know he was sick.

Actually, I am thinking about going to the store on Friday to check the dates on the milk. If the dates are far enough out, I may be able to have some for when I get home!!

I hate to think about coming home, we haven't even left yet!!

I will not talk about my vacation to my co-workers today! I will not be excited in front of them..........:dance3:

You can freeze milk. Don't know if you knew that.

Two out of 4 of my co-workers witnessed how I was prior to our cruise in 2009. They keep commenting they keep forgetting I'm going on a cruise because I haven't really talked about it. There is no Disney character countdown calendar in my cube. There is no constant singing, "I'm on a boat!" There is no constant chatter and giggles about DCL. It's kind of sad, really. But I am excited and really thankful we're able to continue with our vacation plans. The closer it gets, the more I realize and appreciate that I really need this vacation! :dance3:

DD will finish up her 4 round of antibiotics the day we board the ship. DH is battleing allergies and I just got rid of my cold. I loved the idea of bubble wrap but my DD wasn't game. I pray we make it to the boat with nothing else.

Lent we give up meat on Wed and Fri but we enjoy fish those days. I think we will survive lent on the boat and if not, I'm sure we will be forgiven afterall we are spending time as a family. I do like the patience as something to add to our lives during lent, I do think we will need alot of that with all the lines we are going to experience.

Got the nails done today which I'm now offically checked out of work, I do have to act like I care for the next two. Boy is that going to be hard.

See some of you at Pirate of the Carribban at Disland on Saturday and then those of you at 3 on the boat on Sunday. Travel safe everyone.

Scott,
It's cheaper to stay at Embassey Suites then park? I haven't considered that option. By the way, are you on the 9:30 AA flight Sat? If so, we can have our daughters meet at the airport.

Everyone,
We still aren't packed. I was way too tired after work today to do it. I'm procrastinating I know. Did make a CVS pharmacy run and picked up sea bands and Bonine, etc.

Finally made some progress today! I have ironed most of the kids clothes and they are all laid out. They just need to be folded and put into the suitcases. Finished most of my running today for the little items. I feel like I am leaving tomorrow because I normally procrastinate that much. I am ahead of things this time. But, I want to go to Ash Wednesday services tomorrow, get nails done with DD and she has tennis and tumbling after school. Plus, I need to clean the house some. I just have to keep telling myself that I WILL get it all done in time.

To the fellow zip liners: What are you planning on wearing to go on the zip line? I was planning on wearing pants because I heard the bugs are bad but I do not want to get hot. I still may wear the pants but was really trying to find something for DS to wear.

Lent is also about giving more of yourself not just giving up something.
So true. This is also what we are going to focus on for lent.
Positive attitudes and positive language towards each other ( my thirteen year old is going to focus on that one....;))

Wow, so many of you are having a rough week. I wish you well, and hope health will soon find you!

We leave Saturday morning, and are pretty much good to go.
Haircuts, check !
Bags packed, check!
Fish at friends house, check!
Nails done, check!
What am I missing?

All I am really worried about now is Delta changing our flights again . I have been checking frequently. They have changed 8 times since we booked. We have secured awesome seats all together and just want it left that way!

I can not keep up with these threads!! You go for a few hours and there are 3 more pages!! Active Shipmates!! LOVE IT!!:thumbsup2

Alas, we took ds to doctor, she was convinced he had the flu, he did look AWFUL but has not run a fever at all...but NO FLU!! :) Just a sinus infection, they gave him amoxicillin HORSE pills and after 3, he's a new man!! I'm bringing the leftover rx just in case...the rest of us are doing okay! :)

Those 5 hours I thought I had to pack/clean house just evaporated, I just spent 8 hours having a workers meeting and planning/documenting/organizing events for a big debate tournament I got coaxed into directing....I really think I'll be working on the plane...but once we land in CA...DONE!! It's vacation!!!

Everyone keep safe/travel well/see you all in a few!

I have capris and a tank ready for the zip line. The boys want to wear shorts and t shirts. I am going to purchase some bug spray as well. Oh , and probably running shoes. There is some walking involved.

I'm about 80% packed. I know I'm going to have a busy week at work, but the thought of being on the boat will make it all better.

This is my last post until after Easter. :sad1: I spend too much time on Dis and it is a good sacrifice for me to make for Lent.

I'm looking forward to next week with family, new friends, and Disney. Thank you to everyone who has helped me with the planning, the ideas, and the advise. I can't wait to meet you all.

See you at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm!!! :woohoo:

I am trying valiently to only have two checked suitcases for five people. I managed to get the twins' clothing in two small roll ons they can carry on, and filled one checked suitcase full of FE stuff and formal wear. Then I have the giant suitcase I used for Egypt (12 days, 1 suitcase!) to use for me and DD5, and another roller for DD16. Can I do it? I hope so but I'm starting to doubt....we aren't taking a ton of stuff but I refuse to do laundry on vacation.

I feel very unfinished...maybe because I have to confirm our transfers still.

I am trying to do the same, 2 checked bags for 4 of us. I have not started putting things into suitcases but looking at the clothes laid out, I am a little worried. I plan on doing laundry but only once. We will be in LA for 2 1/2 days before the cruise so will need some of those clothes.

Well - I am using some points - only paying taxes! So, yes, it is cheaper for us to park there and stay the night. I believe there is a Days Inn or similar very near the E.S. in Irving that could be a pretty decent rate as well.

No - we are on the first thing in the morning flight (6:50 I think?) to California. We are flying to LAX. My first time to LAX since I was way young - I usually use Orange County/John Wayne, but the prices were too high. We'll be driving around Hollywood on Saturday - daughter preferred that to Disneyland (which saved me a TON on one day tickets! We'll get plenty of Disney on the ship).

My quest to use NO checked bags for 8 people starts TODAY!! I've pulled out the suitcases, measured and will most likely find them wanting...but hey, what's a challenge if it's not unsurmountable? It's doable! It must be doable!!

I probably will not write again until we see you guys Sunday!! So CopaDave, let the chatter begin! :goodvibes Just don't take bets on if we manage not to check or not, I'd hate to disappoint! :)

Travel safely and praying for calm seas heading south!!! Hope! Let's get out of this crazy Alabama weather! My front yard could probably support our canoe right now, even the horses are seeking higher grounds!!

See you all soon!

Sounds like a smart decision. Glad it wasn't your passport you lost. I though I lost mine last week but thankfully I found it before scrambling to try getting a new one at short notice.
