To the fellow zip liners: What are you planning on wearing to go on the zip line? I was planning on wearing pants because I heard the bugs are bad but I do not want to get hot. I still may wear the pants but was really trying to find something for DS to wear.

A few pages back, someone was talking about wandering around Cabo on our first day there, finding a grub shack on the beach and chilling out with friends and food.
Sign us up. We're planning on leaving the kids in the club while we're ashore. If we find anything interesting, we'll take the kids on our second stop.

Today is my last day in the office - and it's been creeping along - but now I am at lunch and looking at only a couple of hours of legitimate time to get things accomplished. Should be fun!
I am ready to roll...got all the clothes back from the cleaners last night and the dog sitter properly apprised of the animals' needs. Time is coming soon!
Copa Dave - I like the blog idea. My daughter is doing a journal and taking pictures so she can write a story of her vacation, and then we'll make a hardbound book with the vacation chronicles. I wish I'd thought of a blog for her - she might have a good time with it.

My DH didn't understand it until our last cruise when we hung out with some DISers in St. Croix. He experienced how much fun it is to do these cruises with people from the boards. But that hasn't inspired him to get on here. He leaves that all to me.

As for cutting your foot off...when you are standing in the plaza outside Disneyland, looking at the entrance, off to your right is the Wheelchair rental.
That will get you to the front of the line for most of the rides, along with your party (I think the limit is 6 or 8). We use it when my Inlaws go with us.

We're supposed to go to Disneyland tomorrow and every time we go in to CA, I worry about earthquakes. I don't want to sit here and wrack myself with worry. But as I write that, I've already started a Google search on what to do if we're in port and a tsunami hits. :scared1::headache:

With the most recent event in Japan's 8.9 earthquake, which is the worst quake in their history, question is how will it affect us? We have already received reports that the tsunami will hit California today, time I am not sure of yet. It is also reported that it will have less of an affect on California than Japan and Hawaii. The ship itself should have no problem, it's just the coastline we need to worry about.

Sadly, it is just a wait and see for us. The impact hasn't hit Hawaii yet, it's just now getting there, about 30 minutes behind when they predicted. I'm no expert but that would indicate to me that the wave is slowing? :confused3Once it moves past Hawaii, we just have to see what happens as it draws closer to CA and Mexico. Would love to know what the people on the Wonder are being told right now.

Yikes......this is very sad for Japan. And now they are worried about shutting down a nuclear reactor there.
It looks like Southern California will be fine. The higher waves are supposed to hit more of the Nor.Cal and Oregon coasts. I'm sure there will be big waves but I doubt it will be too bad.
My fear would be for the continuing aftershocks and any rogue waves while we are on the ship.......

The news tends to overhype things. I was watching CNN this AM and I think their weather guy was ready to burst out of his skin with excitement. "At any minute now, any minute, Hawaii will be hit with the tsunami. Unfortunately it's dark there so we can't see it." Really, dude? I mean, really?? I think he was trying to control from smiling and it just made me angry.
But I got 4.5 hours of sleep last night so I may be ultra sensitive right now. :rolleyes1

Hope have a safe trip!!
It looks like both Carnival ships that were due to dock (in Long Beach and San Diego) this morning have been delayed (possibly due to fog), but they ARE still going back out today. If they have NOT had to change plans for TODAY then we will be fine on Sunday!!
That being said I do believe we are going, but I also think we are going to be in for some rough seas. So, if you suffer with seasickness (like me) make sure you have plenty of meds.
Also, we will have to have an extra dose of patience and compassion towards the cast and crew who very well may have family in Japan! Knowing this group I am sure they will be showered with lots of love!!

We just received an update from Disney Cruise Line regarding your Mexican Riviera sailing on the Disney Wonder on March 13, 2011.
*From Disney Cruise Line*
The Wonder is still scheduled to arrive back on port for its current sailing on Sunday, March 13, 2011 so the sailing scheduled for March 13, 2011 to the Mexican Riviera is currently planned to depart as scheduled.
As you know, this is a developing situation and we will keep up updated as information is available.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or requests.

Well with the tragedy in Japan and the scare of it effecting our trip I figure I will give you all some nautical humor to brighten your day:
Dead ahead, through the pitch-black night, the captain sees a light on a collision course with his ship.
He sends a signal: "Change your course ten degrees east."
"Change yours ten degrees west," comes the reply.
The captain responds, "I'm a United States Navy captain! Change your course, sir!"
"I'm a seaman second class," the next message reads. "Change your course, sir."
The captain is furious. "I'm a battleship! I'm not changing course!"
"I'm a lighthouse. Your call."

As a result of the 8.9 earthquake in Japan this morning we are expecting a tsumani surge in Cabo at right around 10:59 local time. As of this morning at 6 am the Port Captain has closed the port of Cabo San Lucas to all vessel traffic, to be re-evaluated at 11 am

Ok, worse trip yet.
Our Delta flight boarded, then made an announcement that a part was broken on the plane and they needed us to get off. Ok, so we will wait.....they can't get the part in, and all flits are overbooked for the rest of the day...
Oh no! We won't make our connection! They put us in a cab and an hour and a half later we are at the Rochester airport. Flight to Chicago at 7 pm, then our flight to LA at 9 pm. That means we get in at midnight:scared1:
That is IF we make our flights tonight....
So we have been out since 8 am and have not flown yet.
Kids have been amazing, but I am losing my patience.
I need a little Mickey Mouse.....
Hope we get there tomorrow!

DW & DSx2 are still asleep, but I'm a victim of working nights. I can't sleep more than 6 hours at a time anymore. I sure hope a week of da'Mouse can bleed this stress out of me.
We're staying in a hotel near DW's sister as she is going with us to the port and keeping our van for the week. We'll leave her house at 9, and be at the port about 10ish.
I have two cameras and a iPod to use for video. Should get a lot of pictures, and I have the laptop to move them to so we can take MORE! It'll take me a week to index and post them when we get back, I'm afraid.
My plan is to write my blog posts daily, with embeded photos, but post them right after we get home on Sunday evening. We'll see how it goes.

EDITED TO ADD: Thank you Hartmans for sharing your list! My FE gifts were successfully delivered! That was fun. A little like Santa Clause.
We are at DoubleTree. Lovely afternoon yesterday. Kids are still asleep. We don't have a marina view so haven't gotten a peak at the Wonder yet. Can't believe it is finally here! We are on the 10:30 hotel shuttle to the port this morning. :)

Got home yesterday with loads of travel drama. Due to late arrival and color tag snafus with DCL, we missed our time to get our bag checked with airline. So we were faced with decision of abandon bag, or wait for later flights. Sara suggested Ifly home with my daughter so she coudl be in school today.
Sadly - Sara missed 13 flights on standby until finally getting on a flight about an hour ago. What a miserable end to her cruise -I feel horrible and did not sleep throughout the night as I watched her (lack of) progress.
Beyond that - the cruise was wonderful - outstanding memories made and another cruise booked for week following Thanksgiving in 2012 on Fantasy!

We recall hearing you talk about that on the Buccaneer Queen. We were a little surprised to see that it was priced less than the week before Thanksgiving. So we booked it. Not sure how committed we are to keeping it depending on the Magic location, but it does sound like a wonderful trip (and a good time to get some unique Christmas shopping done in Caribbean!).

Scott, at LAX in the AA gates We heard you and Brooke's name being called over the intercom...but not Sara's so we thought Uh Oh...somethings wrong. Michael and the kids ran into her at the airport a little later and she explained the problems. I never expected her to have to wait through 13 flights though! That is terrible! we spent 2days at the GC resort in Disney and visited the parks. What horrible weather on Sunday!

The chairs fell into the audience and hit a woman that I work with... I didn't even know she was on the cruise until we met on the airplane heading home. Her leg was all bruised from the chairs, she was just happy they didn't hit her 5 year old grandaughter who was sitting beside her. She was being transported in both airports by wheelchair.

We were at the show. We enjoyed the shows except the guys with the chairs. Really not funny. I'm glad that lady is okay.
We too loved doing the Yellow FE. What a cute idea. Thanks for squeezing us in the group.
I plan to do a trip report at some point. We had a horrible return trip. Long story short, rented a car, returned it at Burbank for our flight, 30 mins. before they tell us it is cancelled. Called to rebook, told nothing till Tuesday.
That was not going to work for many reasons. We looked at every option including flying out of or into other airports. No go. Decided to look at a rental car. Rented one, one way, $1200 airline tickets (for 6 of us for that leg of our trip) and $344 car rental plus $300 in gas and 24 hour drive....straight through, we got home to Texas at 9:30pm last night. :sad2:

Now I think I'm going to hit up Dicecatt to be our Travel Agent for this one. Looking at her photos on Facebook, it looks like she had a blast on the cruise.

You're lucky. They closed I-40 between Kingman and Flagstaff for a while Sunday night, due to a fatal accident. Someone slid off in the snow and didn't make it.
That is horrible! I was saying that very thing to my husband. I was the one driving during the snow and the mountains. I said what worried me is that if the car skidded, there was not much keeping it from going down the mountain. Not like around here where you can run off the road and get stopped by something.

Hi Everyone!
Hope everyone is home, or almost home, I had a client with an issue that ended up getting on a flight on Monday (was supposed to be Sunday) and had like a 12 hour layover in Phoenix with two small boys, I bet that was fun. The people I was traveling with were all flying standby...one got out yesterday...the others flew to Fresno for the night on Monday and flew home yesterday. At least the travel issues were on the way home, not the way there!
Our flight was originally Monday night, so it was fine...we had nasty weather in LA but did squeeze in an hour of sunshine in Venice Beach on Monday before our flight (after already getting soaked of course).
This cruise was really fantastic...I count it right up there with my Med which will forever be my measurement of enjoyment. We had SO much fun. And I enjoyed just about everything...we had great servers, great stateroom attendant...great FE gifts...I enjoyed the shows, especially the hypnotist, one of my travel companions was in the adult show and I cried I laughed so hard. Sadly efforts to hypnotise me failed but I tried, I was one of the two during the family show they escorted back off the stage. I thought Alfred and Seymour were great, and saw Golden Mickeys for the first time (I know that is weird) and DD5 was one of the dwarves!
I also enjoyed meeting several of you on this board...I felt like I was in a big friendly community all week...I got to know so many random cruisers and felt this was one of the "nicest" cruises I've been on...less pushy people, more friendliness. And I am thoroughly enjoying all the facebook photos and trip reports on here! I'm working on mine, I have so much that I'm wading through all the photos.
Just wanted to say, this has been one of the very best cruise meet threads I've participated in...truly nice people...so thanks for adding to the cruise enjoyment!

Wow - the flight issues are all over the place - what a mess. I am sorry to hear of the unexpected drivers.
I had to do that on my first Disney Cruise to make it to the Magic. Made it from DFW to Gainesville in under 24 hours - then was driven to the port by my grandparents. NO FUN! And with the reports of snow and rain storms, my heart goes out to you folks...
Yes - I did have my name called out to board my flight. If it could go wrong, it did in the airport. Got stopped at security while the tried to determine if the rolling pin we bought in Yelapa was a weapon or not - thankfully they allowed my daughter to pass with it. Then we sprinted knowing we were cutting it WAY close - they closed the door behind us!

Meredith71, where did you buy your "home" property? We didn't get interested in DVC until the last sea day and by that time it was pretty hard to get an appt and info. We ended up not buying but I sure would like to go to that new Oahu Aulani!
Just got a Disney survey via email but haven't looked at it yet. Does everyone get these?

Glad to hear she is doing okay. We saw her leaving the ship that morning. She seemed better than the night before. It was a nasty bruise. My son was the other one that was hit by the chair. He is doing okay. Still hurts him to put all his weight on his left leg.

Meredith,
We had no idea this was your son... We thought about him all night long. I am so glad he is doing okay. Did the guys from that show talk to you after? So sorry about him being 9 and not 6. ;) The manager CM i spoke to mentioned "he was pretty young. 6 or so." But she had said all of the managers where pulled into a meeting about the incident. I was really shocked the show went on, I was 5 rows back from you when it happend and I was scared. :grouphug:

I agree with you 100% The DIS folks on the board made the trip more special. Great, quality people. Also, just the general population on this cruise...everyone seemed more relaxed, I agree with the statem
ent about "less pushy"...great manners, friendly, positive demeaners all around.
Dicecatt, enjoyed meeting you at the Gold Castaway Cay reception. Rebooked on board and put you down as TA. :)

I didn't hear anything about anyone being left behind.......give details....son3disfan.....why were you almost late? Was it the 1st stop at Cabo or the 2nd? Glad you made it onboard!!
Hi Hope....
I was really hoping to meet you. Sorry we didn't get the chance to connect.
Ok so here's the scoop.long version.
We were late coming back to Cabo on Friday. We did the ATV tour ( which was UNBELIEVABE! ) . The tour was suppose to start at 8:40 am. With the time change, I didn't figure it out right, and we would Have been an hour late back to the tender. We pleaded with the tour company, and they were amazing! They gave the 9 of us a private tour, ( which was so great as there was a lot of 20 something guys that appeared to be drunk.... At 9:00 am! ) they took us back to the tender just in time, a little after one. There appeared to be a long tender line (past the bar ) and everyone in our party needed a washroom break. So off we went. Gone for about 10 min. When we returned the Disney line was empty and closed off with a garbage can! Running with my family, we just made it on the last tender. There was only a young family ( dad, mom and son about 2) on board as well as the Disney crew who were working at the terminal. The father was asking them to wait for the rest of his family( mother, father, brother ect.) and Disney said "no we are late and the we need to leave." He JUMPED OFF THE BOAT just before the last crew member got on. He was holding up his hands saying wait! Wait! And ran back into the terminal.
The boat left! The women stared screaming and they just kept going. He had all her ID and everything. It was awful. When we got to the boat, the anchor was already up, as it was now almost 1:40pm. She was so upset and security came and escorted her through and she was gone. I heard them paging a family from deck 2. The boat left, and that was it.
That night, I asked CS what happened to her husband, and they said they didn't know. I figured they didn't want to share personal info with me. I was so worried about her. They also said ( and this was Friday night) that we would now be late arriving back to the terminal on Sunday. It is very different then trying to get back to Port Canaveral from the Bahamas. There us no waiting.
They said that it happens quite often, and people need to pay attention to the warnings. That sooooo could have been us. Between the brutal flight cancellation coming in to LA on Sat., missing the bus for the Zipline tour on Wednesday, and then this on friday, we were mentally exhausted.
But, like everyone has said already, people on this meet and cruise were so friendly and we had a fantastic time!
we booked again for March 10th , 2012, but might move it when the new dates are released.

Thanks Mindy. No, the guys from the show (the German guys) did not talk to us. Clayton and Jason talked to us in the medical offices. Our cabin was on the 5th floor and when we were headed back to the cabin the "Till We Meet Again" show was beginning in the lobby. I pushed Dalton over to watch it (he was in a wheel chair to go back to the cabin). When all the characters were in their places I looked down and he was crying. He wanted to see Stitch. So, I took him down in the elevator and got in line to see Stitch. Stitch was great and hugged on him a lot and even pushed him around in the wheelchair. The girl that was with Stitch was a dancer from the show. She talked to me about how upset they all were and that we were in their thoughts and prayers. I thought that was really sweet.

We bought at Bay Lake Towers. We went back and forth between Animal Kingdom Villas and Bay Lake a lot. We finally decided Bay Lake because of the location and the smaller size so priority booking would be better there. It had a higher per point cost but lower dues so hopefully it will be a better deal in the long run. We plan on trying to stay at Animal Kingdom sometime soon though.
I would love to go to Oahu Aulani as well. Hopefully someday. :goodvibes

Has anyone seen the CNN News report about a Disney Wonder Crew Member missing?
The crew member did not report for duty on Tuesday. They did a thorough search of the ship. Now the US Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy is involved in the search.
Does anyone know what this weeks itinerary is? Were that in Cabo or at Sea on Tuesday?
Oh my, our prayers are going forth. Please let this person be ok.

They were on the back to back Cabo Itinerary. So Tuesday was a sea day.
They are reporting she didnt show up for her shift Tuesday morning as a Youth Councillor. They checked all the cabins and areas on the ship. The rumour is MOB(man over board). So sad.

I have felt so sick to my stomach over this entire story. I posted a question in the main forum Wednesday after my friend called me and said her SIIL (currently on the Wonder) was texting her and saying a crew member was missing. I was trying to find out if the Wonder was in port or at sea because I couldn't find the itinerary any where. I have been really upset and near tears since Wednesday morning, worried sick to death for the CM. I just can't imagine being on the ship because I would not be able to enjoy myself at all, not with knowing how upset the crew have to be!! And having just gotten off the ship and having had an amazing time because of that crew. Those people really grow to mean a lot to us and our kids and to know they're in so much pain right now just tears me up! It's awful!!

So sad about the missing crew memeber!! I hope that all turns out somehow ok?? I hope that the did not have bad rocky weather and so maybe a crew memeber fell off the ship?? That would be heartbraking news!
The FR gifts were all so very nice and fun!! Thanks to everyone that was in our group doing it.:) I do not recall who did the photo frame scrapbook type FE gift but WOW that was really alot of work I bet and to bring those for travel must have been a pain.
The kids loved all of the gifts!! Thanks a bunch!! It was nice meeting a couple of the families from the FE exchange.:)
I maybe getting a group rate for next year so if anyone is interested, just let me know.:)
Many Thanks!

Meredith - So happy to hear your son is doing ok. We talked to some fellow Tulsans on the way out Sunday morning and they mentioned the incident and that it was a boy from Bixby (one of their daughters had met your daughter in the club). Will be happy to tell them that he is doing ok. And also so sorry about never meeting you - our girls were into the "family" trip, and at age 11 and 13, we will take the bonding time while we can get it. Have booked a dummy date on the Fantasy - hoping to go again either Spring Break 2013 or Summer 2013. Melissa

I am not on Disboards that much so I am not sure what they are talking about since I did not have the chance to even meet that many families from our group. I do not know what happened or understanding what happened but just an FYI, it was not me doing that. Thanks.:)

I think this happened on the ship from what the email said. I do not know what happened- just sounds like someone was trying to get sells any chance they can and I do NOT work that way, that is not the 1st thing I bring up in converstation. I had several clients on board but they where not part of this group of disboards but who knows maybe they will be some day part of the disboards.;)
Maybe the person who sent me the email will come forward and say something openly on the boards, but I just wanted to make it clear that if people where upset about this person it was not me.

Anyone else still loading pictures? Between my daughter and me, we had 2 and a half full 4GB memory cards, some photos on my phone, and a full memory stick. Almost all are high quality so I have to reduce the size for web, facebook, trip report use. Not to mention the video uploaded! I'm doing it in between everything else this week and not close to being done!
I also still have laundry everywhere. With four kids it is like laundry eats the house!
Any news on the missing CM? I know there is a long thread on the main board but I haven't had time to go through it all...

Hello everyone! Checking in!
I don't know about ya'll but I have been DRAGGING and soooo tired all week. I even took 2 hrs vacation Monday and Tuesday mornings because I just couldn't seem to work a full day. :)
Our house is a total, total disaster area. Our laundry situation is also pretty gruesome. AND I still have one suitcase I haven't even unpacked.
This weekend I plan to do a LOT of sleeping, washing and cleaning. Oh, and I'm going to the gym tomorrow and Sunday to try to countereffect all that delicious cruise dining.
Big thank you to all the YELLOW Fish Extender participants. We really enjoyed participating. The kids lit up with glee every time they checked the pockets of our FE. Very generous participants and so much hand made stuff.
We went ahead and booked a dummy while on board but its not a dummy anymore....decided to put it at NEXT year's Spring Break Mexican Riveria Cruise out of LA on the Wonder. REPEAT!!! :cheer2::cheer2:
I thought I'd do Eastern Carribean but MR is about 1,500 less. :goodvibes
Any one else booked on the March 11, 2012 Wonder MR?
I haven't started a trip report or taken the pictures off the digital camera. Hopefully can start that this weekend. Scott had a good idea on the bound book.

Hi everyone! First I want to thank everyone in the blue FE group for the lovely gifts. It was absolutely a highlight of our trip!!! I think I loved checking the FE as much as the kids...what fantastic, creative, and generous gifts!! Thank you!!!
Secondly, sadly we had a terrible server and I really feel like I need to report this to DCL. This was our third cruise and we were painfully aware just how bad this service was compared to our previous cruise experiences. I filled out the survey given to us on the ship and we rated our overall dinner experience low, but there was no place on the survey to explain our issues. I have checked the DCL website and tried to find a way to contact them, but the "contact us" gives specific reasons and complaints are not one of them. Does anyone know where the appropriate place to email would be?
Thanks for the help!!

Hi Guys,
I have been too sad to come back to our thread cause I knew it would be a reminder that it really is over. I agree the Aqu FE gifts were amazing! Thanks Dave for all of the great pictures! I loved the candid ones you caught of my family. I am glad everyone made it on the ship and home safely. I had also been told that sons3disfan did not make it so I am so glad to hear they were mistaken. Everything was perfect for us..we had a great serving team, great room attendant, the cheer talent show rocked (thanks again Maddy and Taylor), but most of all awesome new friends...ALL OF YOU!! Erin...Kenna still talks about Ashley! We booked the Fantasy for October 2012 (I think you did, too??) and a dummy date. If everyone truly ends up doing the MR for March 2012 we may move our dummy date to then, too. Kenna would love love love to be onboard with Ashley again. Please tell Ashley she said hi and that they should keep in touch. I am still trying to decide what I am going to do with the Disney bookings cause after I got home I got a deal for the RCCL Allure that I just could not pass up so we are off to Fort Lauderdale for a cruise to RCCL's private island Labadee, Haiti, Falmouth Jamaica (the brand new port that just opened a few days ago), and Cozumel this October. I love Disney, but the RCCL's Allure has SO many cool things on it! Where can you go on a ship that has ziplining across the top of it???!!! I know it will not have the "magical" feeling of Disney, but WOW it looks way cool! Ok now I am teared up that it is over so does that tell you how truly magical it really was! Miss all of you and hope we can all sail again soon!

Still uploading photos, too!! Suitcases are half in the mudroom floor and half all over the place...ugh!
First, I have to so I was soooo OVERWHELMED by all the amazing FE gifts!! Where in the world do you all get such amazing talents?? The kids were dumbfounded most days...such awesome take home items! The candy was eaten immediately and they loved the Canadian candies they've never heard of! :) It was a great part of our trip!
We had a 13 hour layover in LAX..so we were exhausted coming home...my nieced did make her very early flight!!! So worried since the ship didn't port til late...we were the first folks off the ship...we got to the airport at 10:05 and her flight took off 40 minutes later...we were LUCKY!! We had planned to go to Knotts farm (already bought the tickets) but that rain and cold had us just hang out at the airport until our 11pm flight!! She got to Boston before we ever made it out of LAX! :)
Will post more soon! Wish I could have met more of y'all! We hit the promenade about 15 minutes after the meeting time but no one was there! We saw kilt man (great dancer!! He's got Irish feet!) and several at the talent show!
Catch up with y'all soon!

I also wanted to chime in and say my goodbyes....It really was a blast cruising with all of you and If anyone is interested we are going on the RCCL Allure October 9th and there is plenty of room?? I do have to say that I joined the meet for that sailing and it is nothing like ours! Friendly yes, talkative NO!! Well, I wish everyone well and hope to see you at sea real soon!

I wanted to offer this to you all first! I think some of you live close enough to LA to use these....we bought 7 passes to Knotts Berry Farm that are good through the end of this year...they are non-refundable....it was pouring and cold the day we planned to go...
if anyone can use them...please let me know! It has our names on them, but I called Knotts and they said I could gift them to whoever, they do not check ID's....I have the printed out passes on paper...whoever would like 7 passes let me know! I can mail them to you!
Passing it forward! :)
Tara
Tara,
we could use a couple of passes if you don't give them all away. We live about an hour from Knotts.
Thanks, Mark.

We are going almost the same week this March (18-25), and I was wondering if anyone did the whale watching and if you enjoyed it? It is not offered through Disney, but was considering doing it on our own through cabo - adventures. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
