Poll_ How many DVC points do you own?

I thought that it would be interesting to ascertain how many TOTAL DVC points are owned by the board's members.

Although we've added to our points several times, and are now at 345, I would expect a large number in the 200 to 250 range. For many of us older members, the minimum purchase was 230.

If you look at the various resales available,the majority appear to be between 210-300 pts.
Our resale broker recently commented that the "magic" number for current purchases appears to be near "230".

We started with 270 in 8/98. We just added 145 for a grand total of 415. We plan to take our children and their families every other year so we needed more points so DH and I could go on the off year.

We started with 150 and banked our Magical Beginning points instead of selling them back to Disney. We have been using about 210 points a year by dipping in to those banked points. When they are gone our original purchase will be paid for and we will add 75-100 points. After that the sky is the limit.

We bought the minimum 230 in '92. We got the previous years points so we had tw0 years of points, 460, for our first trip. When we bought, we were looking at the two bedroom...since we had so many points for our first trip, we booked a Grand Villa, took lots of guests and then realized that we were going to have to get a Grand Villa every year. So we added on 200 more points in '93.

The bunching of points clearly is between 200-250.Of course,the initial minimum for OKW yrs ago was 230,but I would have expected many of those members to have added on over the years.Perhaps NEW members are buying in the 200-250 range.

Our original purchase was 250 at Old Key West in 6/92, then we added 50 on at Vero and 100 at Boardwalk. Going down in a week and can't wait to visit all 3 places:)

Thanks for all of your replies.It appears that 50% of the DVC owners on the board own 250 points or less.However,36% actually have more than 300 points.Of course,I'm not sure that the board members accurately reflect all DVC owners;some people here are definitely DISNEYOPHILES.

We have 150pts. and I need to have owned for several years before I consider an add-on. The first time we went to Disney in 1971 we stayed off property. The only two hotels in the park were the Contempary and the Poly. However, back then only the MK was in existence. We don't spend much time in the room and we don't eat the only meal we have in the room is breakfast. Usually, we are too busy going to the different park. We leave WDW and go to the west coast of Florida to relax afterward. To each his/her own!!!! ( smile

We have 701 pts, and would like to add on about another 250 if we can find a good one. We originally bought 170 to use during our retirement years, but that was when I thought the kids were tired of coming to Florida. :rotfl2:

We originally bought a 170 point BCV contract through Disney, with the expectations that we would continue to visit every 18-24 months. We hadn't even taken our 1st trip home when we realized 170 points was not going to cut it. We purchased a 300 point OKW contract through the timeshare store.

So, we have 470 points a year.

I hope to add on soon. I'll be splitting my stay between SSR, BWV, and BCV this summer. I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in February. All I have left to try is OKW and then I'll decide if I want all my points at SSR so add on there or go for either a resale or get on the DVC waiting list for a sold out resort.
