Hello everyone :wave2:
Time to try , once again, a dining report. I attempted one last December, but due to unforseen circumstances, never finished it. Bear with me and hopefully this one will come to a natural end. ;)
But first up, an introduction :
Me, food loving Disney Freak. September/ October is my favorite time to visit WDW. There's normally low crowds, not too bad temperatues, MNSSHP and F&W festival.
Mica, DD Loves Disney, still upset that they closed Pleasure Island right as she finally was old enough to go have a drink there.
Kenny, Mica's BF who couldnt come on this trip with us. She took her favorite ewok, from about 12 years ago on the trip in his place. He was our mascot and attracted more than his share of attention. He seemed to be determined to have more fun than both of us. ;)

http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/fw2.jpg
Mica and I had gone on a girl's only trip Dec11-16, 2008. She became sick from what we thought was the flu right before our trip. We ended up missing some meals and attractions becase she kept feeling so ill. After we came home, she began to feel better but right after Christmas she became very ill again. Finally on January 2 she went to the ER with a temperature, swollen abdomen and an inability to stand up straight. She was diagnosed with complicated appendixitis. 4 hospitalizations, 12 weeks with a drain protruding from her abdomen and 1 operation latter she was finally ok. This trip she has promised not to have any appendix problems, probably because she doesnt have one anymore. ;)
Our list of restaurants we tried:
Sunshine Seasons - lunch
Tutto Italia - dinner
Boma - breakfast
Tangerine Cafe - dinner
F&W snacking
Sassagoula Floatworks - breakfast
Animal Kingdom Picnic in the Park - lunch
WPE - dinner, lunch
Teppan Edo - lunch twice
Columbia Harbor House - dinner
Main St Bakery - breakfast
Kona - dinner
Cosmic ray's lunch
Wishes Dessert Party
LeCellier - dinner
Goofy's Candy Company
GFC - lunch
POFQ food to go
Will we make it through all these meals or will free dining kill Kenny ( and us ). Stay tuned for the next installment....

G20 hits Pittsburgh, or I've got to get away 9/24/09
We got up at the lovely early morning hour of 4:15 am for our trip to the airport. Since it was the first day of the G20 summit we wanted to arrive early enough to get through any closed roads, extra security or protestors. Traffic was light and we made it to the airport by 5:30 am. Michaela and I decided to play " count the security guards " at the airport. After dropping our bags at SW's outdoor baggage checkin, with the first two security guards there, we walked into the airport. " Morning ladies, " 3 guards greeted us just inside the door. After a quick restroom stop we got onto the down escalator for the security line. Going down the escalator all we could see was a sea of blue shirted security agents. OK, we're down with this game already. :rotfl: One of the TSA guards even had Michaela pull Kenny from out of her purse to ride through the scanning machine. :scared1: Once we finally got through the security screening we got on the people mover to the airport terminal. Once there we found.... you guessed it.... another large group of TSA secirty agents. We stopped at a breakfast kiosk for a quick bite before our flight.
2 bagels, a bottled water and V8 Fusion $10
Geeze and they say WDW food is expensive.
The worse part was we had to wait almost 15 minutes to get the bagels toasted. I guess they had to go through security too. :lmao:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010026.jpg
Once we boarded our flight everything went well. In a little over 2 hours we were landing at Orlando. We bypassed the ME checkin desk and we seated immediately on our bus. POFQ was the first stop and by 9:45 am we were at the online checkin line at the resort. Our room wasnt ready yet so we decided to go to Epcot to ride a couple rides and have some lunch. Entering the park we stopped to admire the F&W decor then made some quick stops at Spaceship Earth, Soarin', Figment and Honey I Blew up the Audience.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010034.jpg
By then it was almost 12:30 so we went back to the land to Sunshine Seasons. They have a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, asian and grilled foods there along with little grab and go items like sushi, fruit cups and a bakery display.
Michaela had the Caesar salad with chicken, creme brulee and a chocolate milk
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010031.jpg
I had the California Roll Sushi, fruit tulip and water.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010032.jpg
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010033.jpg
Everything we had tasted freshly made. Mica's salad was huge. It was full of grilled chicken and had just the right amount of dressing. I saw on Laura's post that she had the roasted beet salad and it lacked enough dressing. This one was just right. She said the creme brulee was very good. This is one of her favorite WDW desserts so I'm sure you'll see her having it again during our trip.
The Sushi was good. Nothing exotic but it hit the spot. The fruit tulip was ok. I just ate the fresh fruit and the custard, the crust was a bit hard. All in all a good first meal. 2 CS
After lunch we walked over to the festival center and looked around some then went back to POFQ to see if our room was ready yet. It was very hot and humid that day and we were hoping to check in and get a shower and change before our ADR at Tutto Italia tongiht.
Next up...
Will the waiters be as cute as the ones in December? Only time will tell.

Will the waiters be as cute as the ones in December? Only time will tell.
We arrived back at POFQ around 2pm to find our room still wasn't ready. Our carryon's were at bell services but we didnt want to change clothes without a shower first. We stopped at the food court and bought a bottled water and green tea . 2 snack credits
Carrying these outside we found two lounge chairs in the shade by the kiddie pool and hung out there til our room was ready at 3:15. Opening the door Room 4344 in Bldg 4 we found that our luggage had made it to the room before we did. :confused3
After a quick shower and change of clothes we headed out the door and back to Epcot. As we entered the front of the park I reminded myself once again that one of these trips I need to stay in the Boardwalk area. We enjoyed looking at the food booths as we made over way over to Italy. Tonight was the soft opening of the festival and 90% of the food booths were open. We considered dropping our ADR to sample the food booths since there wasn't any lines but Tutto Italia was Mica's favorite restaurant the last trip so we resolutely marched past the booths.
We entered the restaurant about 5 minutes before our reservation time of 7:10 pm. The hostess said to have a seat and they would call us momentarily. As soon as I sat down they called us in. We were seated in the side room with by a window table overlooking the patio area. I was glad we were seated inside since it was still very hot and humid outside. Our waiter, Antonio, came over to introduce himself and offer us our menus. And, he was even cuter than our waiter last December. :thumbsup2
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010055.jpg
Is Mica smiling at me or Antonio? Is Kenny smiling or giving him the glare of Death?
While we were deciding what to eat, another cute waiter who's name I cant remember brought us bread, butter, olive oil and marinated olives and vegetables.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010057.jpg
Pane De Casa - with Tuscan olive oil - herb and parmesan grissini breadsticks
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010056.jpg
Verdure, Olive "Giardiniera" e Ricotto con Basilico
The bread was nice and fresh and the olives etc were very tasty. We ate most of the vegetable plate but not too much of the bread so we could save room for dinner. The menu didnt have the pasta Mica had last year so she ordered the Cannelloni.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010059.jpg
Cannelloni al Forno - baked with spinach, ricotta, bechamel and parmesan cheese
While she did enjoy it, she said it had a little more spinach than she usually likes. I had a bite, it was very creamy and rich. She finished most of it.
I ordered the pasta primavera.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010058.jpg
Tagliatelle alla Primavera - tagliatelle egg pasta with zucchini, broccoli, peas, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a light cream sauce
This was a very large portion. I could only eat about half of it. The pasta was cooked al dente and the vegetables were very good. My only complaint was that it was too dry. It needed some more sauce. I dont like my pasta drowned in sauce but I do like it all to be at least coated with it. Since I knew already that I couldnt eat it all I just ate the parts with the most sauce.
Next, came the part some of us were impatiently waiting for- dessert. Mica ( and Kenny ) already knew what they wanted- the tiramisu. This was her very favorite dessert from last year and she couldnt wait to have it again.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010060.jpg
Move over Kenny , that's my dessert ! :p
Mocha Tiramisu - mascarpone cheese, espresso coffee, savoiardi biscuits and chocolate
As you can see by the following picture she really enjoyed it ;)
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010062.jpg
Dang you Kenny, we were supposed to share this :ewok:
I had the berries with gelato and chocolate sauce
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010061.jpg
Now I see why Ewoks are plump :lmao:
Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce
This was excellent. It was filled with fresh raspberries, blueberries and strawberries , a rich and creamy custard , chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I only wish I wasn't so full so I could have finished it.
While we enjoyed our meal, and the cute waiters, we both felt the meal we had last December was much better. I think next time I go I'll try Il Mulino based on some other posters reviews.
2TS
When we finished we walked outside and admired the Italian Showcase, bought a glass of Rosa Regale from the Kiosk and found a spot to watch Illuminations. :drinking1
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010063.jpg

9/25
Our plans on day 2 were to go to Animal Kingdom early. ride EE, safari, dinosaur etc then go to Tusker House for an early lunch. We got to AK around 8:30 and found out it didn't open until 9. Me, the great planner never looked at the park's opening hours, incorrectly assuming they would open at 8. :confused3 It was already hot and humid and we did not feel like waiting in the full sun for a half hour so we hopped the bus to AKL. We figured we'd check to see if we could get into Boma for breakfast and if not we'd just walked around the Lodge.
We checked in at the podium and found they were accepting walkups. The hostess handed us a buzzer that went off within 2 minutes. A very energetic male host lead us to our table and explained how the restaurant is set up. It is a buffet that is set up in pods. Each pod has its own selection of food. There is a large wood-burning grill and rotisserie manned by a chef who will carve the fresh pork loin, ham and turkey for you. A separate pod has a selection of African dishes , another has a made to order Omelet station, a pastry section, a fresh and dried fruit section, a hot cereal section with toppings and the always popular waffle, french toast with raisins, bacon and sausage section. The restaurant was fairly crowded and always busy at the pods so I couldn't get any pictures up there.
Our waitress cane over and offered us frunch or orange juice and either regular coffee ( the pressed pot is extra ), hot tea, hot chocolate, milk or soda. We both choose the frunch and the hot tea. To quote allears : West African Frunch (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice). It's sweeter than just plain orange juice but was very enjoyable. Unlike the last time we were here we were not offered a choice of hot teas fro breakfast. Our waitress just brought out a pot of hot water and a dish with nestea and decaf tea bags. When we were here 2 years ago we were offered a large selection of tea to choose from. But it was caffeine so all was good . ;) After fixing our cups and having some tea we ventured off to the buffet line. I was " lucky" enough to be right in front of a large family group with 2 small children. One of them repeatedly kept banging me in the legs and the other kept trying to reach up and touch everything on the pods. I don't have any problems with children at restaurants , especially at Disney but please parents watch your kids. I was worried the one would get burned by pulling something down on himself. The 6 adults that were there with just kept chatting away ignoring both children. I was glad to get back to my seat.
My first plate:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010089.jpg
from the top, scramble eggs with goat cheese and chives, absolutely the best scrambled eggs I have ever had, red skinned potatoes with peppers, brioche ( french toast with raisins, very good ), turkey with one of the sauces ( it was tomato based and had hot peppers in it, I was not overly fond of it), Bobotie- corn beef, eggs, potato and onion, it was ok but nothing I'd go out of my way for, bacon- nice and crisp
Mica's first plate:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010090.jpg
Bacon and sausage, waffle ( sadly not a Mickey one ),scrambled eggs with goat cheese and chives- she loved this too, fresh fruit
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010091.jpg
Kenny enjoying the Strawberries :upsidedow
Mica's second plate:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010092.jpg
More fresh fruit, ham with sauce, scrambled eggs with goat cheese. She also had a small plate of pastries, a chocolate croissant and a blueberry muffin
My second plate:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010093.jpg
More scrambled eggs with goat cheese- I'd like to have some more of those now :), fresh fruit, a chocolate croissant, ham and turkey both covered with sauce
Mica and I both really liked the sauce they served with the ham. If anyone knows the recipe or would be willing to ask for the recipe please let me know.
Other than the little snafu at the serving line we both really enjoyed this breakfast. At $18.99 each it wouldn't be bad to pay OOP for it. 2TS
After breakfast we walked through the pool and safari area and then checked out the lounge area and gift shop. AKL is a very beautiful and interesting place. I would defineately recommend a visit there.

What kind of juice is it? Is it the same one they have at Ohana for breakfast?

The juice at Boma is called West African Frunch. According to allears, it contains the following: combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice. I am NOT a juice drinker...but this was wonderful.
I don't know if it is the same as Ohana--we stopped going there when they switched it to Family Style and Stitch.

Now that you say the name it rang a bell. I'm really think we need to do breakfast there this trip. Does anyone have pic. of breakfast from Boma? Or do you know a good thread?:goodvibes

As soon as we walked to AKL's bus stop a bus for Magic Kingdom pulled up. We hopped aboard and were on our way to the Magic Kingdom. The park was all decorated for Halloween. I love the way disney themes their parks for the holidays. Their attention to even the tiniest detail makes your visit even more festive. And since this is a food report, here are a couple of pictures of some spooky chefs. ;)

I wonder what kind of Halloween menu they are brewing :rotfl:
As we walked down Main Street Kenny was spotted by a volunteer fire fighter who insisted on having his picture taken with him.

Even Goofy wanted his picture taken with him

After practically wrestling Kenny away from his admirers we rode a few of our favorite rides: Buzz Lightyear, Philharmonic, Splash Mountain. BTM, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and Pirates. We tried to keep Kenny out of trouble but... as you can see that did not work very well.

Once Michaela and Kenny were free from the wooden pillory at Liberty Square we figured it was time to go back to our resort for a swim and a rest before venturing back out in search of food. About 5 oclock we started getting hungry and went back to the parks. We stopped briefly at MK again since Michaela wanted to buy something at a store for the real life Kenny. It was a MNSSHP night and lots of people were in costumes. I saw a fellow DISer Heather (CircusGirl) in the security line in her spectacular snake costume and said hi to her. She looked great in her outfit, hopefully she will post her picture online.
They have 2 different lines into the park on party nights, one for people with the MNSSHP tickets and one for people with just the regular tickets. We entered through the regular ticket line bought Kenny his gift and had it sent back to our resort. We then caught the monorails to Epcot. Today was the first official day of the Food&Wine festival and the booths were busy.
Our first stop was Greece:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010178.jpg
Greek Salad with Pita Bread
Spanakopita (Savory Spinach and Cheese Pastry)
Both of these were excellent. The salad was a great value at $2.25. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, the dressing enhanced but did not overpower the salad and the pita bread was the perfect accompaniment. The Spanakopita was chock full of yummy and cheesy Spinach goodness. These were both so good that after splitting the first plates we went back and enjoyed seconds. This has always been one of my most favorite booths.
Next up was Canada:
No pictures here, sorry
Maple glazed Salmon with lentil salad
Ice Wine
The Salmon was very moist and flaky with a nice maple taste. Neither of liked the lentil salad much but thats just personal taste. Michaela absolutely hated the ice wine so I bravely sipped it until it was all gone. At $5.75 for a very small pour you bet I'm going to finish it. :rotfl:
We were going to stop at Ireland but the line was so long we continued on to France:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010180.jpg
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010181.jpg
Kenny save some for everyone else
Cabernet Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes
Chocolate Milk Creme Brûlée
Sparkling Pomegranate Kir
No picture of the short ribs but they were outstanding with a very tasty sauce. The chocolate creme Brulee was nice and creamy. The taste or two of the Sparkling Pomegranate Kir I managed to wrestle from Kenny was delicious and refreshing. I did miss the goat cheese quiche from previous years but it's good to see other items at the food booths.
We went into Morocco and were going to stop at the booth to try something but decided instead to go into the Tangierine Cafe and split a Mediteranean Sliders Combo - three pita pockets - lamb, chicken and falafel with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumber and Tahini sauce served with Lentils, Hummus and Tabouleh. Other posters on this board had wrote about how good this was. Another poster had suggested asking to sub pita bread for the pita pockets. They would not make that substituion for us but we decided to order it anyways. I asked if we could have some pita chips with the hummus but they were all out. They were also all out of Coke and Iced tea. This was at about 7:30 on a busy friday night. Michaela went out to the Moroccan food booth and ordered us a glass of sangria while I waited, and waited in line for our food. I met her outside in the Moroccan pavillion and we listened to MoRockin which was very enjoyable. What was not enjoyable though was the food. The pita pockets were very dry and contained hardly any lamb, chicken or falafel. I ended up using the extra bread to eat the hummus with. The hummus was good, very fresh tasting. Once again we left the lentils, since neither of cared for them. I liked the Tabouleh. It tasted wonderfully of mint and lemon. Michaela didn't like it at all.Maybe we just had a bad night but I would not come here again. We both liked the Sangria though. ;) It didn't taste any near as good as the Sangria you used to be able to get at Spoodles but we still enjoyed sitting there drinking it. When we finished our drinks we took a quick tour through Morocco. I love looking through both here and Japan. You can always find something interesting to look at. After that we walked over to, you guessed it. Japan :

Pocky !
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010187.jpg
California Sushi Roll
We each had one of these. Your average california roll with ginger and wasabi sauce. Very enjoyable
We walked through Japan then wandered through the rest of the showcase. At Mexico we looked in at the Ditch but the bar was packed. So we ended up outside at the margarita bar and ordered a fiesta margarita. It is lime, strawberry and mango flavored. The lime was a bit too tart but the strawberry and mango flavors were yummy. Illuminations was just starting so we watched some of that and then headed back to our hotel.

09/26
Saturday morning we woke up early determined to get to Animal Kingdom by rope drop. Before we left for the park we went down to Sassagoula Floatworks for breakfast. This is a very small food court compared to the ones at the value resort so it gets full fast. We grabbed our breakfast to go and took it out by the pool to enjoy it. I have no real food pictures today, I
kept forgetting to take them. Anyways, we split a breakfast platter: Mickey Waffles with bacon, orange juice and chocolate milk. Same waffles and bacon you get throughout the park.
We also split a small order of beignets. For some reason I thought these would be alot smaller portion size than they actually are. We had 3 nice sized piping hot beignets. Oh my goodness, they were so delicious. Hot, steaming bites of fired dough absolutely smothered in powdered sugar. They make a big mess while you are eating them but they are so worth it. I would
defineately try them again.
1 CS, 1 Snack credit
Our original plans for the day were to go to either AK or MK early then go for a 1:30 ADR at Liberty Tree tavern. We decided to cancel that ADR and try the new picnic in the park. I'd heard some nice reviews on this board about it and really wanted to give it a try. Once we entered the park we went to the Island Merchantile store at Discovery Island to order it. There is a small kiosk right outside the store where you can place your order at. There are 2 different tiers of meals you can order eating tier feeding 2 to 6 people. Tier 1 consists of different sandwich choices, tier 2 features Rotissere chicken. Both tiers also include sides, desserts, bottled water and your plates, utensils and condiments. Everything is placed in a large reusable green picnic bag ( ours said Picnic in the Park, Animal Kingdom on it).You pay for it when you order it, then tell them what time you want to pick it up. The CM explained that they would have the bag and all utensils ready and would load everything else into it when you get to the pick-up window. Allears has a nice description of this program at http://allears.net/din/akpicnic.htm .
We ordered our lunch and paid OOP for it. You can use 1 CS credit for each person's order but paying OOP seemed like a better choice. A tier 1 meal for 2 was $19.16 with tax. She asked what time we wanted to pick it up and we said 1:15pm. The pick-up location is the Kusafiri Coffee Shop in Africa and you must have your order form to pick it up.
With just over 4 hours until we had to pick up our lunch we moved through Animal Kingdom riding our favorite attractions. I had to go on It's Tough to be a Bug and enjoy all the carvings on the Tree of Life. Michaela and Kenny opted to go to EE which they rode 3 times until I caught up with them. We all rode it together then did Kali River Rapids, dinosaur, the safari and Rafiki's Planet Watch. When we were in Asia I stopped at Royal Anandapur Tea Company for a frozen Chai. This was absolutely delicious. Cold and creamy with more than a hint of cinnamon. My only complaint was that is was so hot that day it did not stay frozen for long. I paid OOP for this $5.25. If you are a tea drinker you should love this.
Kenny, of course, was a perfect angel and got into no trouble at all during our journey...

AHHHHHHH :scared:
After all that excitement we finally made our way back to Africa and the Kusafiri Coffee Shop. We handed in our receipt and within 2 minutes had our lunch and a typed list of picnic areas at AK. It was 95 degrees that day with high humidity and even hotter at AK so we decided to take our lunch and go back to our resort and eat it. On a side note- Why is always so much hotter at AK? :confused3 I've read different theories about why it is, but all I know is that it always is. Once back in our room, with the air conditioner cranked up high we sat and enjoyed our lunch.
Michaela had the chicken wrap, chips, brownie and water. It was a large wheat wrap with white chicken strips, romaine lettuce, cheese and dressing. It must have been good since she ate it pretty fast. She ate the chips with her wrap and saved the brownie for later. The bottled water was a small bottle of water. It was ok since we were back at the resort but I could see someone wanting a regular size bottle if they were at the park.
I had the turkey Focaccia sandwich, chips, cookie and water. My sandwich was huge. It was on very soft and flavorful bread, with white meat turkey, cheese and Romaine lettuce. Mayonnaise and mustard packets were included in our bag. I had 1/2 of the sandwich, chips and water and saved the rest for later. Both of us really enjoyed our picnic in the park ( room ). I would defineately get this again and would recommend this as a great value if you are paying OOP for your meals.
After that we took a quick nap before heading out to DTD.
Next up DTD

When we finished we walked outside and admired the Italian Showcase, bought a glass of Rosa Regale from the Kiosk and found a spot to watch Illuminations. :drinking1

Short update tonight:
After a refreshing nap we hopped a boat to DTD. The boats leave the dock behind the pool area every 20 minutes from 11 am to 4 pm then every 10 minutes until 11 pm. This is a very nice relaxing ride that takes you past the tree house villas ( very beautiful ), LBV golf course and SSR. It takes about 20 minutes to get to DTD. We rode it a couple of times during this trip and enjoyed it very much. I've heard sometimes you might have to wait to ride it but we always got right on and it was never all the way full. It drops you off in the Market Place right next to Captain Jack's restaurant.
We looked around DTD awhile then stopped at WPE for dinner. This has been my favorite CS at disney and once again tonight it did not disappoint.
Michaela had the pepperoni pizza, creme brulee and a coke. This is a good sized 6 cut pepperoni pizza with lots of mozzerella cheese. The creme brulee was nice and creamy with a very fresh tasting strawberry on top. Pizza and creme brulees are two of her favorites so she was happy.
I had one of my favorites: BBQ Chicken Quesadilla - Flour tortillas filled with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, red onions, fresh cilantro, Ranch dressing, BBQ sauce and pico de gallo. I order this every trip. This is another nice sized 6 cut offering. Each slice has large chunks of yummy bbq flavored white meat chicken, red onions, and melted cheeses. The tortillas are topped with bbq and ranch sauces, fresh cilantro and pico de galla. It was delicious but I could only eat 1/2 of it. For dessert I had the frozen yogurt with jimmies. It was cool and refreshing , a good choice for a hot day. Both Michaela and I brought some of our dinner back to the resort with us.
2 CS I really hope they never change this meal from a CS. In my opinion its one of the best values you can get from a CS credit.
When we left WPE it was getting very dark and stormy looking outside. We got back on the boat and headed back to our resort. We planned to take a shower then either head to Epcot to try to have a margarita at La Cava or if it still seemed stormy out just go to POR to have a drink at the bar there and listen to the piano player. While we were getting ready we heard a loud BOOM ( so loud we both jumped) outside. Looking out we could see rain pouring from the sky and hear thunder booming everywhere. We wisely decided to stay in and watch tv. We finished our Saturday night by drinking the bottle of Rosa Regale we bought at Italy and watching Meet the Robinsons and Happy Feet. :cool1:

I finally caught up! :goodvibes I'm really hungry now, since all your food looks so delicious! I really want to try the Picnic in the Park at AK on our next trip, because yours sounded really good! I love how Kenny is getting so much attention and I adore the pic with Kenny and Fire Chief Miller! Wonderful review - can't wait for more!!

Great updates! For some reason I thought picnic in the park was only fried chicken so I'm delighted to know that sandwiches are an option!
Kenny and his antics are too funny!
WPE- I have yet to try it. Going to have to change that next time. And I'm thinking the BBQ Chicken quesadilla is calling my name!
Thank goodness you had the bottle of Rosa in the room to save the day when the storm came! Like Girl Scouts, DIS'ers are always prepared. ;)

We were afraid for a couple minutes that Fire Chief Miller wasn't going to give Kenny back :scared1:

We slept in some this morning then hung out at the resort for awhile.Breakfast was leftover BBQ chicken quesadilla and pizza. Even cold it was good. :cool1:
We swam for a bit at the pool and soaked in the hot tub before heading out to the parks. Our morning was spent at MGM riding rides and watching Beauty and the Beast. No food there, just frozen lemonades. Very cold and tasty. 1 snack credit each
Then we caught the boat to Epcot. I really like seeing everything at the Boardwalk and then coming in at the International Gateway. I just wish there was a way to catch a bus here when all you really want to do at Epcot is to go through the countries. We strolled through the countries making our way towards Japan. The F&W festival booths were fairly crowded but we bypassed them all for we were on our way to Teppan Edo. This would be our first time here and we were both excited to try it.
First up though Kenny had to have his picture taken by the pond.

Fishies, fishies everywhere :)
We then entered the Japanese pavillion. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the inside, it's very pretty in there.

We were handed a pager and waited about 5 minutes to be summoned to our table. At Teppan Edo you are seated at a communal table with 8 people. I was a little worried that Michaela might not like sitting with people we didnt know but it was great. We sat with a nice couple from Baltimore and a family from Atlanta. Our server was very efficient. She explained everything and was quick to refill our drinks. Eri was our chef. She was very personable and entertaining. She asked everyone if it was their first time here. ( It was.) It was her first day here as well.

Michaela had the Asakusa - sirloin steak and large shrimp.
I had the Ueno - chicken breast and large shrimp.
All entrees are served with Udon noodles, zucchini, onions, mushrooms ( if you want them ) and steamed rice. Eri put on quite a show as she prepared our food on the 500 degree grill. She made a mickey face out of the onions then formed them into a steaming volcano. The shrimp were detailed quickly with a cleaver then the tails were tossed into the air and caught in her hat. The two children at our table were totally fascinated by her.

You are offered your choice of chopsticks or a fork. If you dont know how to use chopsticks the rig them for you. I had mine rigged or as Michaela would say " chopsticks with training wheels." :rolleyes1 Kenny, of course was a pro at them. :cool2:
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010451.jpg
After the meal we went down to the store and we bought some chopsticks so I could "train" with them at home. :woohoo:
Everyone gets a 3 compartment plate with sauces for the meal. One is a ginger sauce for the vegetables, one sauce for the meat and one for the shrimp. We both really liked the shrimp one. If anyone knows the recipe for it please let me know.
Eri chatted the whole time she was cooking, making sure she spoke to everyone individually. She plated everyone's food then bowed and left. We all gave her a loud round of applause for the excellent service. The food was well prepared and you received a large portion. My chicken was a little dry but I think that was because it was the first thing she put on the grill. I noticed that she was a little bit slower at cooking than the other chefs who were in the room but we didnt mind. It was very hot and humid outside, sitting in the nice air conditioned restaurant was a pleasant treat.
After all that , it was time for dessert. Michaela had the chocolate ginger cake.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010287.jpg
I had the green tea pudding. Sorry no picture, but this was very good. It was light and creamy with a very delicate taste. I let Michaela try it and she really liked it too.
We really enjoyed our meal here. So much that we ended coming back here again.
We finished walking through the world then went back to our resort for a nap. That evening we went to MK for EMH. We were both still full from lunch so we split a meal at Columbia Harbor House. I was torn between the lighthouse tuna salad sandwich or the fried shrimp platter. Michaela hates tuna though so it was the shrimp. You get 10 friend shrimp, fries, cole slaw, dessert and a drink on the dining plan. We choose the apple crisp for our dessert and a bottled water for the drink.
http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww81/jeminni/P1010297.jpg
Everything was hot and crisp and you can't beat the portion size. I could never have eaten this all by myself. Well worth 1 CS.
On our way out of the park we stopped at Main Street Bakery and bought a cherry danish and a chocolate croissant to take back to the resort for breakfast. 2 snack credits
Next up: more F&W and Kona Cafe

Teppan Edo sounds and looks fantastic!! We have never been, but now I am really thinking about it! That green tea pudding is very nice. We had that at Tokyo Dining last year and even though it looked somewhat "odd", it tasted really good! :lmao:
And that shrimp dish looks really yummy too! I want to go to WDW NOW and have some! ;)

Just started reading your reviews, so I am back on post 1. Did I understand you right when you said that you bypassed the magical express check in counter and went directly to your bus? Don't they give you passes or something to show the driver?

There was a CM standing before the counter, she was asking prople to show her their ME booklet then telling everyone that had one to get into line for the buses. This was the first time this ever happened to me but I wasn't complaining. ;)
Just wanted to let you know that I'm really enjoying your report!
