View Full Version : ~ Mickey's Magical Matey Tour ~ November 6-13, 2010 Eastern Magic
Hi
So I just saw this posted on my FB page - so excited. But wondering what cabana's cost....??? Worth the money?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWX8Yyqrc_Q
We have a whiteboard we could put on the door - as long as the magnets hold - however isnt it just easier to put a piece of paper up with the rooms, and/or how many in each room are participating?
I prefer not to have our names posted for the safety of the kids (intials would be ok). I am happy with something like
Rm # XXXX 2 kids (and/or 2 adults or or or..)
Maybe make x copies and leave them in an envelope attached to the door and then everyone who has changes, just update the 12 copies and everyone makes sure they grab one by end of night?
Just ideas, I havent done this before so I am still not really sure how we will know its our night but I am willing to help with white board, print outs etc...so make this fun and successful! OH AND EASY!

Cabanas are $499. They include rentals and soda/water and food (them getting it for you). They also golf cart you to your cabana.
JoRo, however you want. Just let everyone know. Thank you for taking care of this. The info IS listed here so that people know kids and such in case they want to make specific gifts, etc.

FE Idea
In the past we have set a date - (say November 1) when we finalized all FE info and room numbers. We posted a list here on Disboards that included family or Disboard name, number of kids/people and room number and so forth. It was our responsibility to take that in whatever format we wanted - I just copied and pasted to excel and printed out and took with me.
Then we set one room (who was not planning on changing rooms) who would have a white board on their door - and if you changed rooms - you just went to that room and wrote your change on the board - such as 7518 is now XXXX - - we asked all changes be noted on the door by the end of t first night and we didn't give out any gifts until day 2 to make sure we got all the changes.
Do we want to set a date for final submissions for FE and then just post that here. If you could do the white board that would be great.
I have done the gift exchange in two different ways - one cruise we set specific nights -the other three we just did it whenever. I have to say I liked dropping them off whenever - it made it a little more fun and a little less hectic. One cruise we had a couple of smaller gifts and did them on different days and one cruise we had one bigger gift that we just did once. Does anyone have any preference?

I like this idea!! I also vote for the smaller gifts dropped off randomly. Since we have a somewhat small group and 7 nights I think this would be most fun. On a different note, does anyone know if Shutters still does the photo cd? I'm going to try to search the forum to see, but I'm not the best at it. We purchased the cd when we were on the Wonder last year and I thought it was definitely worth it. I am a total picture freak and can never pick out just a few!

We (me, my DH and our 2 children (daughter: 10; son:7)) will be on the Nov. 6th EC cruise. It will be our 10th Disney Cruise, but we have never participated in Disney Meets before. We didn't even know about them (or this site) until someone mentioned it on our last cruise! Is it too late to join this meet?
Thank you and happy cruising!

Hello - WOW so many wonderful planners all in one place, this is GREAT! I just found this site and wondered if it was to late to join (I really hope not!). This is our first Disney Cruise and we are beyond excited! Our DD (9) has had cancer twice and this is her Make-A-Wish. She is doing really well and is so happy to be able to go on this cruise. There are 7 of us in all me (35) DH (41) DS (12) DD (9) DSS (9) DS (7) DSS (7).

Welcome to our three new families!
Jewels, Glad to hear that your DD is doing well!
Hi So couple of things ;)
How many for FE? really busy and need to make sure I have right count ;)
Then I will put half sheets of paper taped to our door for the first day...IF you have a room change please come and updated the sheets so that everyone can take one with them that is current. I think someone said the cut off is end of first day. if you hate this let me know, white boards get messed up by little fingers walking down hallways ;) Open to other ideas
Are we planning on assigned days? I am ok with that cause then we get something all the way through the cruise?? What was agreed upon?
Then the fun stuff - when do we get to meet you all. Because I cant sleep at night I was thinking a couple of different times to meet would be fun! Incase we cant make them all.... Maybe dock side of the boat, when we cast off? Maybe some of the sea days? we will have kids off playing while parents work on tans at the pool, welcome to drop by and say hi! What do you dis'ers usually do for meet and greets...
So excited got another disney dress for DD, now what is mommy going to wear :)

FE list on first page is it. Beyond that, I'm out of the loop... but remember that they don't allow tape to the door.
As for meets, nothing is planned yet. I am game for whatever!

Welcome aboard to all the new posters!:goodvibes
It's hard to believe we sail in 2 weeks!:woohoo:
For those of you new to the disboard, I would encourage you to check it out thouroghly because there is so much great info available from boarding to excursions to even the let down post cruise.
Hope all of you have a magical cruise!!
Ok thanks for the reminder on the tape! I will put out our FE with minnie and mickey on it with the papers :)
Ok at 5 we will do our best to be on the port side of the boat, deck 10, at the back where it looks like Palo is, while we take off....that looks like a fun place and somewhat easy to find - hope to see more of you there.
If I get to Home Depot I will pick up the lime green mickey paint chips so that you know its us.....hope to meet some of you there and other places...any other ideas?
lunch buffets on sea days, pool times?

This is our 2nd cruise. And I have been lurking and finding out all kinds of fun things on this board. Love all the little tidbits and secrets. This cruise it will be DH and 2 DD ( ages 11 and 7 ) and of course myself( mom). We will have extended family, but this is their first Disney cruise. We are in room 6524 and would like to be added to the FE list (do I need to add it anywhere?)
Thanks:banana:

We loved the cabanas!!! And would do them again in a heartbeat!!
I just posted a bunch of pictures on the main thread about the cabanas if anyone wants to see them.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2336376&page=12
LisaG- thank you for sharing the pictures I so want a cabana! There are 5 (3 adults, 2 toddlers) of us and it looks like it might get a little crowded if we shared with another family? Of course I am sure they are all booked at this point.
Spaingirls - I know Davids-coco is in charge of FE and she has been really busy, I am sure she will add you to FE if its not to late.....
Ok have to go working on FE's tonight, picked out all my clothes, DS and DD, now just need to pick out which disney gowns she brings....so excited!

Maybe dock side of the boat, when we cast offtowards the back near Palo - just looking at the map of the boat - looked like decent place?

It's only 14 more days!! I've been to Disney World about two dozen times, and I've been on 5 other cruises (not DCL), but I am still so excited!! I can't wait: to watch the ocean go by on our sea days; to go to our character dining; to sit by the pool; to eat anything I'd like off the menu; to meet lots of new people; to go mountain biking at St. Maarten, to spend time with my husband; and - to do absolutely nothing. And I am practically a senior citizen. :) We will have so much fun!!!!!!:dance3:

The cabanas can only be reseved ahead of time by concierge so they're will most likely be some available when we board.
And DCL only allows 6 people per cabana.

How about meeting at 3pm in the promenade lounge?
That way no one will miss any of the party. Plus it's inside, quiet, and air conditioned. :)
Didnt know anything about a sail away party this is our first disney cruise, assumed they might do something and it would be a general location to see a few folks - of course we need several meets, maybe on the sea days? I dont know these boats so open to anything.
I am up for 3pm I think we will be there by noon ish. sad but true I dont know when the bus will pick us up from the BW resort. They said they resort will let us know ....so excited!
Plus Monday/Tuesday I will be at disneyland no kids for the Halloween Trick or Treat party YEAH YEAH...told our DD we will be at "work" ...hahaha

We are excited! I can't believe it's almost here. We are not on the "official" FE list but will be adding a few surprises to everyone's FEs. We participated in the FE exchange on our last cruise and the FE gifts took up an entire suitcase. This freaked out poor DH :scared1:. We are so busy getting ready for the election that I haven't had alot of time to get ready for the cruise. DH is running for prosecutor and this is his victory cruise :cheer2: Is everyone all packed?

Yeah! Thanks for including us in the FE fun. Our family is sooooo excited to get back on the Magic. We are new to the FE fun, so I have a few questions for everyone. First, do we put our surprises in everyone's FE holder's on the same night? Is there some sort of schedule? Do we do this once or several times? What kinds of things do people do for adults?
Thanks again for letting us play with you! See you in 10 days!!!!!!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share this tip that my hubby found on one of the message boards:
Bring a pillow case/permanent markers from home and give them to Guest Services when you board. They will have the characters sign it and return it to your room before the end of the cruise. Great and not expensive. We went to Dollar Store and picked up the pillow cases. Then we made iron on transfers with the cruise logo, cruise date, and kids' names.
Fun! Fun!

Oh! I am about to burst, and I just had to share! :dance3: I checked on our flights this afternoon and Delta had changed the itinerary so that we were getting in just over an hour later to Orlando (which meant a 4 hour layover :sad2:). I called Delta and they put us on an earlier flight, so now we will arrive by lunchtime on Friday! :yay: Not only that, but when I went to update my DME reservation, I found out that our waitlist came through today and we will be staying at the Boardwalk for the first time!!! :cool1:

Thanks! We were planning to spend the evening at the Food and Wine Festival, so now we will have even more time to celebrate! I doubt we will hit the pool, but I have seen it before. It is pretty cool. I used to go to Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia when I was little. They got the slide just right!

We are hitching a ride with a friend to the port and then taking the Disney transfers back to the airport. It was cheaper for the two of us than renting a car one way.

Where are you renting from? The problem is that we have to get back to the airport, and the price is about double to return the car there. We used to rent from Enterprise at Marriott World Center and the one at Port Canaveral, but they closed the Marriott location and now you can only do one way rentals between airports.

What a great way to celebrate.
The best thing to do is to search the threads and you will find tons of information. I know if you read back on this particular thread you will find a lot of folks are going to the meet and greet. Not sure if they have narrowed down a time yet, though.
I hope you love your cruise!!:goodvibes

We are renting from Avis at MCO & Budget fom Port Canaveral on the way back. We got really good deals. I've already packed the rental confirmations though. If you find a cheaper price on a rental. Call Avis. Sometimes they will match the price. Look for discount codes on mousesavers.com. :goodvibes
Ok I am going to look to you disney cruise experts - but I would love one or two more meets - maybe on sea days? Maybe you experts could recommend pool locations? Like before lunch ??
Other suggestions?

Has anyone checked the weather? This is what I saw in the weather channel's site:
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 St. Maarten - SHOWERS, high of 85F
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 St. Thomas - SHOWERS, high of 83F
I'm getting worried- it looks like rain for the cruise.. or am I wrong??? :scared:
JoRo - I have to ask, why do you need grocery delivery to the cruise? I thought they had oodles of food in this cruise, right? And yes I'm a newbie to cruises :confused3

casana-Yes, it does indeed look like a cooler and possibly rainy day when we sail. There are several hurricanes out right now but a lot can change between now and Saturday. Let's just keep throwing the magic pixie dust!!:wizard:
To everyone- We are packing up and pulling out in the am after we vote. I hope each one of you has a wonderful cruise and congrats in advance to all of our soon-to-be newlyweds!!:grouphug:
Safe trips to all!:goodvibes

HAHA we might starve ;) Actually we are 2.5 days before and 4 days after so we are getting water, chips, cheese sticks some of which they WDW hotels will actually transfer from hotel to hotel and hold until we return, including the stroller ;) Not taking our stroller on the cruise.
So excited 3 more sleeps.
Oh I am planning on sun!!! From Seattle we need our vit D! I will check on Wed before we leave, dont want to have to pack sweaters ;)

I personally am not worried about this only because it is a ways away so they can't really be too accurate because most of the days next week have the same temp and rain percentage on weather.com so I think they are just being very broad about it atm...that's what I am telling myself anyways! haha

Were in WPB, FL and it is over cast and rainy from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Tomas. By the time we get to st Maarten we should be ok. The storm has yet to turn north yet the longer it takes to turn towards the north the better the weather will have. The problem is going to be how the captain decides to go around the storm. Will have to wait and see.

I think Tomas is going to pose a threat to us. It's a slow moving storm, and we need to sail right through it's wake. I wonder if they would divert us to Castaway Cay first to give it time to move on. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but looking at stormpulse I'm thinking we will see rough seas.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like it is supposed to cut right through our path at the beginning of our cruise. I hope the Captain is able to find a calm spot for us to sail. I was on a cruise this same week 4 years ago (Western Caribbean) and it was rough sailing getting out of Port Canaveral because we were following bad weather out. We had second dining that night, and the dining room was completely empty. That is the only time I have ever been sea sick. Maybe the Ducks will win over the Huskies on Saturday and give us enough pixie dust for smooth sailing!

Anyone else staying at the Country Inn and Suites at the port on Friday? We finally booked a hotel for Friday night. We weren't sure if we were going to drive down Friday or Saturday but decided to go with Friday - start the vacation a day sooner :cool1:

Out of curiosity...does anyone traveling from WDW to Port Canaveral have room in their car/limo/other for 2 additional adults and a suitcase? If so, please PM me and let me know what time you are leaving. Our ride may have fallen through. Thanks!

I am hoping Tomas continues to slow down so that we can get around it and to the Virgin Islands before it gets too far in our path and then by the time we are sailing back it should be far enough out of the way! I think we can make it, just not sure how they would handle that on the ship especially if it is only a tropical depression will they still steer far away from it or are they more lenient with a TD? :confused3:confused3

Right now our "at sea" days look rainy, but we should have sun at the ports.
I made this up for myself so I knew how much I needed to buy for the FEs. Please let me know if I got something wrong.
Can't wait until Saturday!

Ok so now Tomas can't make up it's mind and it looks like maybe it will speed up a bit and we will sail through "behind" it or to it's south, either way I hope it doesn't mess with the itinerary!

gwoman100,
Thanks for the chart. It's much more organized than what I had for myself! All our info is correct on it. Looks like lots of little girls between 4-8, my DD will love it!

Hi all! I hope you're enjoying your cruise right now and not reading here. lol! We just got off the Magic today, as you get ready to board. :sad1:
I have a question... is anyone in your group booked in 2131? Just curious.
My SIL/BIL were booked in there but was told at check in that it was damaged and they were upgraded to 2152. :cool1: Later during the week, we saw the door propped open, room completely empty, and some type of carpet drying machine in there.
I was wondering if they were able to finish the room in time for the next cruise. They never said exactly what the problem was.
Have a great cruise!!!!:grouphug:
