Backpacks at parks

Last year at WDW I used a small backpack to schlep stuff around in for everyone.. I had no issues with it on the rides, they always give you an area to store it in for the ride itself... This year we will be going to Universal & Islands as well... can I expect the same or should I bring a fanny pack as a back up for those days? Renting a locker isn't really an option.. we like to just go go go & going back & forth to a locker isn't appealing to us!

At Universal, they have free lockers for up to certain amount of time for attractions that you can't carry a backpack on. It was very convenient.
