We're thinking about doing the quick service meal plan, but I'm worried that we're going to be stuck eating hamburgers for a week. How's the variety of food on the quick service plan?

There's pretty decent variety if you eat at different CS places. The resorts have more variety than the parks generally IMO (except Epcot, which has a wide variety of CS options). I find the moderate resorts have the best CS restaurants. You can check the CS menus at allears.net.

I plan to do the QSDP with my kids in January and I think we'll have no trouble finding variety in CS. We were just there in Sept with the regular dining plan, and had no kids with us, so we wanted to avoid hamburger/nugget syndrome. I did my research here and ended up with some great CS options - some highlights:
Flame Tree BBQ at AK
Starring Rolls at DHS (great sandwiches!)
Columbia Harbor House at MK - fried fish or shrimp, sandwiches
Epcot has tons of stuff around the world - Tangierine Cafe was a standout.
I've got some reviews going on these if you click my link below.
I think there's good variety at the resorts, and DTD has Wolfgang Puck (which I haven't tried but have read wonderful things), and Earl of Sandwich. We'll be staying at CBR and I've read we can use 2 CS credits to get a large pizza, drinks and desserts for two there.
I really don't think anyone needs to eat a hamburger once if they don't want to!

You could go the whole week without a burger, without much effort. Just in the parks (and I'm probably missing stuff)...
MK: Pizza (Village Haus), Chicken/Ribs (Cosmic Ray's), Mexican (Pirate&Perico, seasonal), Asian (Tomorrowland Terrace, seasonal), Fish & vegetarian (CHH), Sandwiches/deli (MS Bakery)
AK: Pizza (Pizzafari), BBQ (Flame Tree), Asian (Yak&Yeti)
DHS: Pizza (Pizza Planet), Turkey Legs (Toluca TL), Sandwiches (Starring Rolls, Backlot Express), general grill (ABC Commissary)
Epcot: Practically everywhere that's CS offers more than chicken nuggets and burgers.

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE THERE IS A LOT OF VARIETY. AND IN 16 DAYS I'M GOING TO BE TRYING SOME OF THAT VARIETY ALONG WITH TS MEALS ON THE REGULAR DDP FOR THE 4TH FREE DDP TRIP IN A ROW .:banana::banana::banana::hippie::cool1:

While some locations (Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, Cosmic Ray's in MK, among others) offer a great variety at one stop, most of the CS locations have a limited menu. However, especially in Epcot, there are tons of CS in the countries that give you a great variety to pick from.
We have been at the World for two weeks at a time and never had a burger, fry, or nugget unless we really craved one. Too much else to try without resorting to CS options that I can get at home.

I totally agree that there is loads of variety - we did 11 days FD with no burgers (well no CS anyway - just Beaches & Cream!) and there's lots of good CS places BUT there are still some that are terrible with very little choice and poor quality. These tend to be in MK unfortunately from my experience, we were caught out a couple of times after having been to decent places!
WPE at DTD is AMAZING value for CS, even though it was quite a trip for us from the GF we did it twice as it was so good and we also did Sunshine Seasons twice aswell as the CS in Japan.
Steer clear of Gasaparilla's at the GF - not terrible but certainly not worth making an effort to get to as the Contemporary and Poly CS are much better.
