On Friday, 87 of the students in my Multicultural Lit classes will be visiting the Food and Wine Festival (NOT the WINE!!!!!!) They will be posting their reviews with pictures here of the Food and Wine Festival booths as well as reviews of counter service restaurants around the World Showcase. Hopefully, their reviews will help those of you planning trips in the near future or just those of you who are hungry.:woohoo::rotfl2:

My students had a wonderful, albeit 95 degrees with 105 degree heat index, day at the Food and Wine Festival. On the bus ride home, I got a preview of the adventures many of them had which included escargot (never had it before, really liked it), eating sushi for the first time (didn't know that type had fish eggs in it), and a great afternoon table service lunch in France. There were 87 of them on the trip, so there should be some great, diverse, reviews. Happy Reading! Everything has to be posted by Monday morning, so there should be A LOT of posting this weekend!

The first stop on our tour was Brazil.
http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac313/janel_05/brazil.jpg

By far this was the best country out of all. The Shrimp Stew with Lime and Coconut was fabulous. I recommend that this be everyone's first stop. It only cost $4.25. It's a must have!!!
http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac313/janel_05/shrimpstew.jpg

For desert we went to Italia.
http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac313/janel_05/bmenu.jpg

The Bomboloni's which consist of 3 tuscan pastries filled with hazelnut chocolate, apricot, and raspberry were delicious and it only cost $5.25.
Yummmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

On my first stop, I ventured to Tokyo, Japan. I ordered the Sukiyaki Beef Roll. It consists of 3 bite sized rice wrapped rolls with seaweed wrapped around the beef. It also has a delectable sauce drizzled over the tops. On the side there is also ginger and green wasabi sauce. For those daring, spicy food lovers, I suggest eating those with your rolls. Combining everything together makes this the best freaking thing around! :cool1:
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/Sukiyakibeefroll-Japan.jpg[

The cost was only $4 and I believe it's worth every dollar. If you are a Japanese fan like I am, you should definitely make the journey over here. :thumbsup2
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/TokyoMenu.jpg

Next I ventured to the country of Canada. I tried some of their Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. It has a little spicy kick to it and even though it was a super hot day, it was worth sampling. If you like cheese and you like soup, and you're not Canadian but are cool enough to try anything new, you should definitely try it.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/CanadianCheddarCheeseSoup.jpg

I also consumed the Spicy Chicken Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta. It tastes exactly like what it is called. The sausage has a spicy kick to it and it was very juicy and the sweet corn is...well, sweet. If you like mixing these two contrasting tastes then come try it.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/SpiceychickensausagewithSweetCornPo.jpg

These two dishes were really cheap at the price of $3.75 and worth every bite
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/CanadianMenu.jpg

My last stop was in Greece. I ordered the Greek Salad with Pita Bread (It was only $2.75! :woohoo:). The Pita bread was crunchy and the salad consisted of red onions, black olives, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/GreekSaladwithPitabread.jpg

The one other thing I tried was the Spanakopita (It was a pretty big piece and so I believe it is rightly charged at the price of $4). It had a flaky pastry covering and was filled with spinach and melted cheese.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/Spanakopita-Greekfood.jpg
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l256/AnimeFreak324/GreekMenu.jpg

This was some of the best food that I've ever sampled and I enjoyed every single one of them. I hope this all takes an interest to you and that you all are now craving this and take a chance and try it. I'm telling you, it's worth it and you won't be hungry anymore. ^_^

I am a proponent of learning being an active thing and this is a prime example, and so good tasting too!

As Auntie Mame once said, (slightly abridged for young ears), "Life is a banquet and most people are starving to death". Try new things and experiences. You may well find new favorites and if you do not like something you do not have to do it again.

I truly believe what is wrong with the world is the fact that many people want to stay in their comfort zone and do not want to learn anything new.

I am glad for teachers like you and I bet you had a whole lot of fun as well.

Kudos to your class and their writing skills and observational comments.:goodvibes

At the food & wine festival we first went to Munich, Germany. All the food at this booth looked very good but who doesn't like eating dessert first, so before anything else we tried the apple struedel with vanilla sauce. The flavor kind of reminded me of American apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It tasted amazing and at only $3.00!

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee42/ashleymarypb/fieldtripfood09002.jpg

We also ventured over to Bologna, Italy. Since we already had our dessert we tried the Cannelloni, which was delicious. Cannelloni is baked pasta tubes filed with ricotta cheese topped with tomato, bechamel and parmesan cheese; it's similar to lasagna but way better! This was definitely worth the $4.50! We were even tempted to get seconds.

The first place I went to is Mexico which I had the Tostda De Pollo. Which was $4 and was very good. Next I had the Apple Strudel in Germany which was $3 and very much like apple pie and vanilla ice cream. And finally I had the Chicken and Andouille Gumbo from New Orleans and was $3. So I know the pictures look gross but you can't judge it until you try it. I participated in the World Showcase at Epcot and dined at the les chefs de france restaurant. While I was there I tried the soupe a l'olgnon gratinee (french onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese), Quiche Lorraine (the famous ham and cheese quiche served with a mixed green salad, and Creme brulee (vanilla creme brulee). these items were included in a 3 course meal special for only $20. These items were the best French food I have ever tasted. The quiche you buy from Publix has got nothing on the quiche I tried here!! I thought the prices were very reasonable considering we were at Disney and everything is over priced there. I really enjoyed the restaurant because everone who worked there was from France and had the accent, which was really cool. I highly recommend everone going to this restaurant. you will love it!!:yay:

The Lotus Blossom Cafe is a quick service cafe offering many Chinese entrees. The orange chicken was chicken with a sweet orange sesame sauce with a side of rice. It was satisfying, but slightly boring. There wasn't much taste to it, and it was a little expensive at $8.49. I would recommend this for people who like very simple food that is mild and not spicy. http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab223/kimbobjoest/005-Copy2.jpg Kim

For my meal I visited the Lotus Blossom restaurant in China. I purchased the shrimp fried rice with a side of an egg roll. The rice included carrots, onion, shrimp, and various greens. I personally chose to top it all off with a few packets of soy sauce, but that's up to you. The cost was 9.05 including tax.

It was a good meal, though I was not blown away. The shrimp was very good, and the soy sauce added to that. I think it was somewhat overpriced, but it is Disney. I don't like egg rolls very much so I gave that away to my friend. I would recommend this meal to someone who is in the mood for some good Chinese food. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af75/travisfoels/shrimpfriedrice.jpg

This seafood dish is from Melbourne, Australia.
It is called Seared Barramundi and it contains blistered cherry tomatoes, argula, and lemon oil.
The cost of this sample is $4.50.
Barramundi tasted more like chicken than fish. It had a lemony flavor that added a zing to it. I'm not a big fish person; however, it was one of the better types that i've had. I recommend this dish to those who like good tasting fish.

The first place I went to was France. I ordered Parmentier de Beef Braise au Cabernet which is braised short ribs in Cabernet with Mashed Potatoes. I found it very tasty and recommend it to anyone it only costs $4.50, such a great deal. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af199/Kitty_18_21/Picture017.jpg

The second place I visited was Tokyo, Japan. I ordered the Sukiyaki Beef Roll which I found really good and it only coast $4.00 for three pieces. It was different from other sushi's that i have had because the main ingredient in it was beef instead of fish. I still recommend this to anyone who loves to eat sushi because it tasted great. I also order the Tuna Sensation which was pieces of Tuna and avocado cut up and put in a bowl with sesame-soy dressing on top of it. I did not find this very good, in fact I believed that it tasted too much like olive oil; it coast $5.75, which I believe is too much and do not recommend this to anyone unless they truly love to eat olive oil, raw pieces of Tuna, and cut up pieces of avocado.

The third place I visited was Australia, I ordered a Grilled Lamb Chop with Red Wine Sauce and Murray River Sea Salt. The sauce on the lamb chop was amazing and made the dish but I found the lamb chop a little rough, it could have been softer but still very good. It only coast $5.50 which is not bad since it was a lamb chop. I would still recommend this dish to anyone mainly because of the sauce that is put on it.

This sample is from Melbourne, Australia. It is called Seared Barramundi and it contains Blistered Cherry Tomatoes, Arugula, and lemon oil. The cost of this sample is $4.50. I think this is a decent price because they give you a good portion of fish to sample. I thought this fish tasted very good. The lemon in the fish gave it a good flavor. I would recommend this dish to others that would enjoy eating this tasty fish from Australia.

This is a tasty sample from Shanghai, China. It is a sample of Pot Stickers, which are filled with pork and drizzled with a tasty sauce that adds great flavor. The cost is $3.50 but the sample contains two Pork Stickers for you to sample; therefore, I think it is a decent price. I thought this was a very delicious sample and I recommend this to others who enjoy chinese food. I'm sure you would enjoy it!

This is the kielbasa (sausage) and potato pierogie from Poland. It costs $5.00. I definitely recommend this to others. It is well worth the cost. The pierogie tastes just how my grandma used to make them, and the kielbasa is really good too. I had to try the Poland booth because I am Polish.

This is the chicken urumqi from Shanghai, China. It's a little spicy, but it was cold so I didn't really enjoy it. I thought it would be warmer. It costs $3.75 and I probably would not have bought it again.

http://i35.tinypic.com/2vcx8vo.jpg

Jessica tried the caramelized ginger ice cream from Shanghai as well. It is priced at $3.25 and is a great value for a generous serving size. It was really sweet and complete with a very unique taste. Eat it fast though, because the Florida heat will melt it in a few minutes!

Last, we purchased some shaved ice from Japan for $3.75. It was a refreshing treat to have in the heat. Strawberry tasted the best. This is one of our favorites and we would highly recommend it.

$3.75
The food tasted actually pretty good eventhough it did not look appetizing at all. All I could really taste was just the shredded pork which didnt taste any different from any other shredded pork. I thought the price was resonable except for it being pretty small, but i was satisfied with the food though. I would advise that other people should try this taco.

The Tangerine Cafe in Morroco

This was the Chicken Platter priced at $11.95

On the left there is the Chicken sliced up and cooked lamb style, with pink onions, which was delicious.
In the middle is a fresh loaf of bread cut in half, which was good with the dipping sauce seen at the top left.
At the bottom right there's small rice, which they left completely cold. In the middle its some kind of spinach thing, and at the top there's hummus which I didn't really enjoy.
The whole right side of the meal I didn't really like, but the rest was good.
Was it worth $11.95? I don't really think so, but if you enjoy hummus then go for it.

One thing that I ate while on the trip was a Greek Salad from Greece that consisted of tomatoes, black olives, and onions. It had a Greek dressing on it and tasted amazing! On the side was a slice of pita bread that was warm. This whole thing cost $2.75! Definitly worth it!
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a45/mall105b/123.jpg
Another thing that I ate was from a French Bakery. It was a strawberry tart that consisted of pie crust, vanilla custard, and strawberries with a glaze on top. This item cost $4.25 and was worth it because it tasted so good!

:dancer:Ah the wonders of Disney. Being that Epcot is one of my favorite of Disney's theme parks, I embraced the opportunity to be a part of the field trip, making sure I was one of the first to turn in my money and forms, solidifying my place on the trip's roster. Coincidentally, I am also a devoted and highly self-acclaimed food critic. And for giving me the chance to partake in 2 of my favorite activities in a single day, as well as missing a day of school, I thank you Mrs. Jackson. :worship:

And now, the food, but no wine. :littleangel:

It occured to me, as I entered the park, that I was slightly limited when it came to my ability to purchase food, as I had not yet recieved my paycheck for the week. However, I was determined to seek out the item I love most; chinese food. This search literally drove me all over the world. I ignored the cheddar soup in Canada, said no to sushi in Japan, passed over the array of desserts in France, and scoffed at German sausages and strudels. Now, some items were harder to ignore than others: Lamb in Australia, chicken in Morocco, and whatever it was that smelled so darn good in Mexico. But alas, I was able to control myself as I was on a budget and had a serious craving for the orient. And then, just as I was about to run to Africa for a taste from home, I stumbled upon the Lotus Blossom Cafe in Shanghai. As I walked in, sometime around 11:06 am, I immediately noticed that there was not much on the menu to choose from. Little did I know, that what I did find there would change my world forever. :rotfl:

The following is a detailed description of that dish: perfectly cooked golden brown nugget-sized chunks of chicken, crunchy on the outside with a tender all white meat inside, engulfed in a sweet, yet tangy orange sauce; not too overbearing, but with enough flavor to last a lifetime. All this sitting atop a steaming pile of beautiful white rice with a host of delectable sauces to enhance the already perfect meal. Add a large Sprite to wash it all down and now you're talking baby. Granted, good food like this doesnt come cheap, (I had to shell out a whopping 8 dollars and 49 cents for the meal and 2 dollars and 39 cents for my drink). But hey, it's Disney, and the food is good. Prepared by some of China's finest, I give this meal 2 thumbs up and would recommend it, and the festival as a whole, to any one of my friends, family, or associates.

I was ready to eat after riding Mission Space, and I was positive I didn't want to just sample a couple of foods.... I wanted something that would fill me up. My group of friends and I chose to eat at theLotus Blossum Cafe in China. I chose the Orange Chicken with Steamed Rice. The Orange Chicken was very tasty, with the rice just topped it off. I have to say though that it is not much better than something that you could get at a chinese resturant in a mall. The meal cost $8.49. I would recommend this if you are looking for a cheaper meal that will fill you up.

While at Disney's Epcot I visited Lotus Blossom in China for lunch. For my meal I got Shrimp Fired Rice with an Egg Roll. The rice had shrimp (of course), diced carrots, peas, and onions. The egg roll was filled with pork and other vegetables. It also came with a small portion of some type of cold onion mixture but that wasn't too good. The price was a very reasonable $8.49. It was hard for me to finish eating it all because of the amount they give you, making the price worth it. I enjoyed the meal for the most part and I recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a Chinese meal at a reasonable price.:banana::banana:

The food and wine festival was a very cultural and diverse experience. It allows you to eat food from all different types of countries from around the world and learn about the background behind it. I chose to eat in the China section of the park. I bought the orange chicken which came with a side of white rice for $8.49. I felt like I got a lot for what I paid and the quality of the food was good. It was very tasty and I would highly recommend eating in the Chinese Pavilion.

On my trip to the Epcot I was able to have the experience to try different foods from around the world. On one of my stops I was able to drop by Cape Town, Africa. At a cheap price of $4.50 I had a very delightful Seared Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Puree and Mango Barbeque Sauce. Though the Sweet Potato Puree was a little distasteful, the Seared Beef Tenderloin was extravagant. I recommend that everyone that visits Epcot should try this dish.

All together these 4 delicious items came out to be $30. I found each one to be very tasty and well worth the price for the food. The items included: casserole burgundian es cargots baked in parsley and garlic butter. $9.75
the famous ham and cheese quiche served with a mixed green salad
puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce
lobster bisque (the last three items of food were a $20 special)
These foods were from the restraunt French du la Chefs in the french section of the attraction. All together it was a great time and well worth the time, money, and travel.

This is arroz con pollo, or rice with chicken. It is found at the booth of Puerto Rico and it costs $3.50. I found this to be very good and I wished the portions were bigger. The spices are amazing and I recomend this dish to everyone.

This dish is from the Japanese booth, and it is called Japanese shaved ice. The flavor I bought was strawberry but there were three other flavors as well. I found that is extremely similar to a snow cone. It was very good due to the heat. It costs $3.75. I think it was well worth its value and should be bought by everyone to cool themselves down.

This was Creme Brulee au Chocolat au Lait. It is a creamy chocolate custard. I liked the inside but it was covered in a crunchy fried sugar topping which I didn't like. The inside tasted like very creamy chocolate pudding. It costed $3.50, and was from the booth of France. I thought it was very sweet and if you like chocolate, then a must try. I think it was well worth its value.

I thought it was quite a palatable meal, which fulfilled my hunger. The orange flavoring had just the right kick to make this dish sensational.

I had a Napoleon from Boulangerie Patisserie, which is a pastry made of several layers of puff pastry alternating with a sweet filling, usually pastry cream and glazed with icing or powdered sugar. It is a light, flavorful dessert which I highly recommend to anyone visiting the park! You can get it for a mere 3.95 in the France Pavilion of the park and you will be happy you did! Overall the Food and Wine festival is unique, diverse, and fun multicultural event that you should definitely check out if you have the opportunity.

First, I went to the kiosk at Mexico and tried the pork tostado. It consisted of shredded pork, black beans, sour cream, cheese, onions, and tomatoes on top of a fried tortilla. It cost $4.00 and i thought it was well worth it. The pork was juicy and the combination of it over the crunchy bottom was good.

Next, I went to Beaches and Cream at the Beaches Resort and had the Strawberry Shortcake. It cost $5.99 and was definitely worth it. The proportion was huge and the strawberry sauce was sweet and tangy.

I also had the Chocolate Croissant at the breakfast restaurant in The Land. It was pretty good and tasted just like the one at Panara. It was not worth $3.99 though because it was small.

First, I went to Athens, Greece and tried the Chicken Souvlaki. It was basically a piece of pita bread with chicken and some kind of white dressing on top of it. The dressing tasted somewhat like caesar and it was amazing! The name of the restaurant was called FW Greece. The price of this sample was 4 dollars, so it wasn't too bad at all. I would totally recommend it to anyone who goes to this event next year!

The second thing I went to was the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. I thought it was really expensive. It cost 11.45 for the meal, which is just ridiculous. But it was good. It came with really thinned out chicken, with some kind of dip for it. Then, there was pita bread with some hummus, which was pretty good, it wasn't anything new though. There was some green leafy side. It kinda tasted like it had some kind of spice in it, like cilantro or parsley. It was really different which i loved. Then some cold rice which was good also. This was called the Chicken Platter. I would recommend it if you want to try something new.

The scallops were cold, but the slaw was cool and refreshing.
The slaw consisted of red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, red onions, some herbs, and lemon oil.
The scallops were seared to a nice crisp and all of the components accentuated each other nicely. There was also a nice balance of temperatures and textures.
At first I thought it was a little pricey at $4 for just one scallop, but the scallop was big and they filled up my plate with the slaw. In the end I really enjoyed this dish and really recommend it if you like seafood.

The next thing I tried was the Escargot Persillade en Brioche (snails) this was also in France. The price was $4.50. They were actually really good. I thought that they were going to have an exotic taste but they weren't too extravagant. The Escargot Persillade en Brioche had a miniature bread bowl with garlic and butter, and inside were the snails. I also recommend for everyone to try this dish. Also if you are the type of person who judges the food by what it looks like I suggest not opening the bread bowl.

Moving on to Australia was the Lamington, which is a traditional Australian butter cake. It consists of cake covered in a chocolate mousse, and coconut shavings. The only thing bad about this food was the size because it was delicious. The cost was $3.00

Last but not least is the Mango Lassi. This drink was very good it tasted like straight up mangoes. Which is great for those fruit lovers! This was at the New Delhi in India it had a very thick texture and it was very cold. The cost was $2.75 which I think is pretty good price for this drink. party:

I chose to review the Tonosama Combination which consisted of chicken teriyaki, sukiyaki beef,. a fried shrimp on a stick and steamed rice. It was a very original, yet authentic dish and could be found easily in the U.S, which is why I would recommend choosing any other dish besides that one. Overall it was delicious and when the rice was mixed with the teriyaki and sweet and sour sauce it was really good. The meal cost $8.99 and was worth it.

At Disney s Food & Wine festival we went first to Munich, Germany. Only a few of the food choices looked appetizing so we decided to go with the dessert, a apple strudel with vanilla sauce. It tasted almost identical to an American apple pie with vanilla icecream and was only $3.00

We also went over to Bologna, Italy. We tried the Cannelloni there and it was absolutely delicious! Cannelloni is baked pasta tubes filled with ricotta cheese. It is also topped with tomato, bechamel and parmesan cheese, it tastes very similar to lasagna but much better. You are given a descent amount for a sample at only $4.50.

I first went to France's Chefs de France and ate the Crepe Basquare. It is basically grilled chicken smoked with peppers and onions. The chicken also comes with a mixed salad. The cost of the meal was $12.75. I still enjoyed it because chicken is always good to me. The price was a reasonable price for a sit down restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant because it had other good meals that looked delicious and tasted great.

My last stop was in Japan. I ate at Yakitoro and tried the Chicken Teriyaki. It was just chicken glazed with teriyaki sauce with a side of rice. The cost was $7.49 with tax. It tasted good but it was a little too salty and too sweet, but overall it was satisfying. The price for it was reasonable considering the fact that Disney's prices are usually expensive. Even though it was good, I wouldn't recommend it because it tasted like any other chicken teriyaki and is not really worth it if you wanna try something different.

At the New Delhi, India booth i had Chilled Mango Lassi which is like a mango yogurt drink for $2.45. On Friday 10/09/09, I went to EPCOT with my friends for a class at school. At the Food and Wine Festival I went to Lotus Blossom Cafe. The orange chicken in which I bought from china was 8.95, was very great. The chicken was fried and had an orange sauce on it. The chicken was served with white rice which was a great side. I thought that the food was wonderful for the price. After eating one a plate I was full. I would highly recommend going to China and going to the Lotus Blossom Cafe.

I thought that it was a wonderful price for how good it was. The shrimp was very small but i thought the egg roll made up for that. The fried rice was very well but what made it even better was the soy sauce. If you are a fried rice lover, like me, this is a wonderful meal for you. I tried the orange chicken at The Lotus Blossom Cafe. The orange chicken was honestly the best orange chicken I have ever had, due to the fact that there wasn't an overpowering amount of orange zest. The first food that I tried was the Tostada de Pollo(Toast of Chicken). The name of the booth was Mexico City. The cost of the food was $4.00. The taste was very fresh, except the onion. The onion was a little strong. It had beans, toast, chicken, and tomatoes. I would recommended to anyone. I think the price should be three dollars instead of four dollars.

The second food that I tried was the Spicy Tuna Roll. The name of the booth was Tokyo. The cost was $3.75.For my opinion the taste was not that good. Like for example, I keep chewing and it never ended,it felt like gum. The other part was that it wasn't spicy and is called Spicy Tuna Roll. The price was okay for the size. I would not recommended because is a kind of food that is hard to find the good in it.

As this was being my first time to the Food and Wine Festival (no wine on this trip) I didn't know what to expect. I already wasn't in the greatest mood because I saw on the news it was going to be 95 degrees but with all the humidity to factor in it was going to feel like a 105 degrees. :beach: As the day progressed and the showcase opened it was so much fun! All the countries and their displays on what it looks like in those countries was the best it could get. I tried foods from Greece, Argentina, Japan, and France. Hope you enjoy!

This is a beef Empanada with tomato salsa from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I highly recommended this dish because it was delicious! It's a flaky pastry with a beefy inside with a side of salsa to dip in. The dish was $4.25 and well worth the money because you don't find a Argentina styled restaurant as common as others.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/RebelChick247/aregentina.jpg

Next stop... Athens, Greece! I've never had much Greece food in my life seeing as my family is pure Italian, so this dish called Spanakopita was an eye opener to me. If you’re a fan of spinach dip (as I am myself) you will drool over this dish. It was a flaky pastry like the empanada, with a creamy cheese and spinach inside. Well worth the $4.00!

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/RebelChick247/greece.jpg

Now of course I had to stop by Tokyo, Japan to get an everyday favorite dish of mine, a California Sushi Roll. It wasn't my favorite seeing as I've had better at local restaurants, but it wasn't bad. It was sticky rice with a sliver of seaweed wrapping a crabmeat and cucumber inside. The dish was only $3.50 and very filling but I suggest going to Greece or Argentina because they’re not an ordinary chain.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/RebelChick247/japan.jpg

Lastly, the dish I looked forward to all day!! Paris, France chocolate milk Crème Brulee. This was the most delicious meal I had all day (well dessert). It had a caramelized brown sugar top with a fluffy and creamy chocolate inside. It was just $3.75 and the most well deserved dish the money. HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!

Konnichiwa, my delicious food journey begins in Tokyo, Japan. I was very interested in trying foods I wouldn't normally try.http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/japanmenu.jpg The first sample I tasted was a California Sushi Roll. http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/japanfood.jpgThis dish consisted of crabmeat and cucumber rolled in rice. And cost $3.50. I have tasted sushi before and was often not to found of it. But this dish was tasty and fullfilled my hunger. The crabmeat was fresh and the cucumber complimented well. I was in for a surprise that the sushi roll contained fish eggs, so if you have any seafood allergies this is not the dish for you. But nevertheless, it added sweetness to the dish, which tasted fabulous. I would recommend this dish to anyone looking to try something different. The value of the food is reasonable and leaves you satisfied.
My next stop was O'Canada. I decided to try the Spicy Chicken Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta. The cost was $3.75.http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/canadamenu.jpghttp://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/canadiansausage.jpg I normally do not eat sausage but I love Chicken and Sweet Corn, so what a perfect match!! The sausage had a nice kick to it and wasn't overly spicy. The Sweet Corn Polenta was of course sweet and was a great contrast to the spicyness of the sausage. This dish was incrediably juicy and well flavored that I finished the whole thing in less than a minute!! The price for the dish could have been a little less but even still it was worth a tasty quick bite. If you are wanting to try a new take on to the traditional sausage then make your way down to Canada!!

Opa!!! My last stop in my food journey was Athens, Greece. I wanted something that was light, freshing, crisp, and cool, to help me cool off from the hot heat of the day. I enjoyed a Greek Salad with Pita Bread, which was a wallet friendly $2.75.http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/greekmenu.jpghttp://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr220/rachel_esteves16/greeksalad.jpgIt was everything we love in a salad, fresh and crunchy. Whoever said eating healthy is boring?! For the health nuts, this is just your treat and for anyone opting for a healthy choice this is definitely something you shoud try!!

All in all, this is field trip opened my eyes to all sorts of different cultures. I left the park not wanting to eat the same old food. There is a whole feast of tasty treats to try that won't leave you disappointed.

For lunch, I went to the Chefs De France. Here, I tried for my first time escargot. It was smotherd in a green pesto garlic sauce. The escargot was very chewy and a little bit tough. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, although it was not delicious. I'm very glad however that I can say I have tried snail! This costed $10.

As my main entre, I got the Crepe Basquaise. This was a large crepe and was stuffed with chicken, peppers, and onions. It was so delicious and was a big enough portion to fill me up. I would definitely consider ordering this again. The cost was only $12.75.

And finally, I stopped by the country of Mexico. Here, I sampled the Quesedilla con Chorizo. This was simply a cheese quesedilla filled with cheese and a special Mexican sausage. This dish, although very small, was delicious. The sausage tasted similar to an American Hot Dog. The cost was $3.75.

1. India
2. Mango Lassi – a type of mango-yogurt drink
3. $3.75
4. It tasted delicious and refreshing because it was a hot day. This particular mango lassi was had a bit of a thick consistency which didn’t make it look too appealing; however, it was. The price for almost any food at the booth was way too much but either way, if you need a drink, and like smoothies, I would recommend this.

2. Escargot presillade en brioche – snails served in a miniature bread bowl and smothered in butter and garlic
3. $4.50
4. It was surprisingly good and nothing what I had expected. For starters, it wasn’t rubbery or chewy as I believed snails would taste. On the contrary it almost melted in my mouth, but that may have been due to all of the butter and garlic. The dish was prepared very nicely (the bread bowls were adorable) and the portion was a lot more compared to the other booths so it was a good price.

My experience in EPCOT was unforgettable. :grouphug:
I'll admit I was nervous when I was told I had to sample from other countries because I'm a very picky eater. Although, my samples were ones that I wish I had more of and melted in my mouth.

This is a ham and cheese quiche from a French bakery in France. The name of the bakery is Boulangerie Patisserie. Everything seemed delicious but it was my quiche-loving duty to order this. It was only $4.95 (but $5.28 including tax) and worth it for only one person.

Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera that I could take with me on the trip, but I do have descriptions and prices.

My group first went to Tokyo, Japan and I got the California Sushi roll ($3.50). The roll consisted of crab meat, cucumber, sticky rice, seaweed wrap and a red/orange looking substance which resembled fish eggs with a side of ginger and wasabi sauce. I hadn't ever tasted this before, but it was surprisingly good. The food was light, but didn't leave me hungry which was nice, since walking around Epcot all day, I didn't want something that would be heavy on my stomach. It tasted cool, but had an unfamiliar vaguely sticky texture and a crisp crunch from the cucumber, all around a nice dish.

The next stop, while treading through unbearable heat, was Italy or Italia where I got the strawberry, banana and peach primavera($3.50). This slushie-type treat was a highlight of my day and looked cool with a pink/orange color. The flavor was very sweet and fruity, but didn't taste like 30 lbs of sugar had been unmercifully added. It was perfect for cooling down and not sitting on my stomach like ice cream. It was fabulous, must be gotten if it's a hot day or just because you want it.

The last booth I visited was Mexico and had the tostada de pollo ($4.00). It had a nacho type base, black bean sauce or paste, tomato bits, onion, pulled pork and some white cheesy looking substance. This dish, aside from the nacho base, had a thick, almost oily texture and little taste, which I didn't like. The meat was tough and chewy, not really okay, but not horrible. I'm sure there are better things to eat than this, but it wouldn't scar you digestive palette for life to have it. (So far as I know anyway.)

Living in Central Florida my entire life, you would think that I would've been to Epcot already. The truth is that my favorite teacher, Mrs. Jackson, opened my eyes to a whole new world, a dazzling place I never knew. ;)

As I walked for the first time through the immense gates of Epcot and underneath the big ball, I finally new what it was like to experience being a tourist. I was a little skeptical about the food due to everything I've heard all my life about the terrible food and extreme prices. It proved to be the exact opposite. I was overwhelmed with tons of choices of where to eat including Japan, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and many more. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try some of China's finest Orange Chicken. I found myself at the Lotus Blossom Cafe in Shanghai and was taken over by the beautiful women that worked at the restaurant, with their enticing accents, asking me, "Would you like some orange chicken?" How could I resist? So this is how I came to try the meal that changed my perspective about life. I immediately indulged in zesty, citric chicken, unlike anything I had ever experienced in my life. My mouth felt like it was experiencing the birth of a child with the intense burning from the hot delicious spices, yet it was soon soothed with the sweet, tangy orange flavor. To go along with this divine orange chicken, was a side of the best white rice I've ever had. I never knew such little flavor to be so good. Although this nectarous, mouthwatering meal was a bit pricy, $8.49, I believe it was worth every penny. I definitely recomend this meal to anyone who wants the best meal Epcot has to offer.

Friday last, our class went to what is usually widely recognized as the most boring of all Disney Parks: Epcot. This rash, but sadly true generalization, has but one exception: the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. This event drew an array of colorful characters, and not just the regular adults who dress up as Disney characters to take pictures with kids (a "tradition" I still think should be re-examined). My main man Jared and I were treated like rockstars because of our almost overbearing charm and devilish good looks. We had basically our run of the park, and did what we saw fit, to most everyone else's approval. We mat a man named Paul, who was celebrating his seventy-fourth birthday. Paul was pretty cool, barring the fact that he did not buy us alcohol. Anywho, we were forced to try exotic food by our wonderful and stunningly gorgeous teacher, Mrs. Jackson. I decided to try something close to home, so I tried a Morrocan Falafel. I, as anyone else would, thought a falafel would taste exactly like a waffle, given that they rhyme. I was most certainly wrong. f:\cameron.jpg
The falafel was alright, it had quite an exotic taste, and was a good change of pace in my eating routine. At $4.50, I believe this dish was worth the money, because it is really quite large for a Disney sample portion. Mrs. Jackson asked me not to post a picture of myself, so you guys got the short end of the stick, because I was looking dynamite. Love, Cameron

:cheer2: I recently visited the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot and had a lot of fun. I stopped by China and ate at Lotus Blossom. I had some orange chicken with steamed rice. The food was delicious, the chicken was tender and the rice was cooked very well. The price for this meal was $8.49. I think this price was reasonable because the food was very good and everything at Disney is expensive. If you ever go to Epcot, I recommend you stop by the Lotus Blossom and try the orange chicken with steamed rice. :cutie:

I sampled many different types of food at Epcot's food and Wine festival. My first stop was Munich Germany were i sampled an Apple strudel with vanilla sauce. IT WAS AMAZING. Something short of an apple pie, and it knocked my socks off! I would really recommend it.http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee42/ashleymarypb/fieldtripfood09001.jpghttp://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee42/ashleymarypb/fieldtripfood09002.jpg

Next we visited Bologna Italia, where i tried the most amazing pasta called cannelloni. It was baked Pasta tubes filled with Ricotta cheese, topped with tomato, bechamel, parmesan cheese.

Pasta was so good in Italia that we decided to feast at the sit down restaurant, but i didn't like the food at the restaurant at all! We had a baked lasagna and another weird pasta that i didn't like.

Overall, this was a great experience and i would recommend it to anyone. Its nice to expierence different cultures hands on.

The hot friday morning at the park smelled like peppermint and pumpkins. I knew this day would end deliciously. We started the day expeditiously with the rides, as the food booths were not yet open. The clan began to meander around the agglomerated central area where the prosaicness was prevalent, feeling deviant from Disneys' habitual feeling.
Well after a long tiring venture through Epcot's Maze of a park, my food studies group and I had finally found the prime real estate of food.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/2895517443_2b91c7eace_o.jpghttp://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/1003/Epcot_Food_and_Wine_Festival_076.jpg
This piece of art was not made just to look at, this is the falafel (pita pocket), sold in Morocco. It had luscious taste, and went perfectly with the Sangria sold to me by the beautiful Hafeza.
I ended up throwing down $10 USD for the meal and tip ;)

Last Friday Mrs. Jackson took our Multicultural Lit. Class to experience the true joy of the world, Disney World!!!! We were able to enjoy a hot day at the beautiful and exotic park known to many as EPCOT!!!! We took our field trip here to visit the 2009 Food and Wine Festival Extravaganza. Seeing I was limited on cash flow, I was only able to obtain a few dishes which I shared with my fellow tourist companions Jared, and Cameron. Between the three of us we split what is known to date as a Falafel. The three of us believing it was some sort of waffle due to its resemblance in name. We were shocked to find that it was basically like a sandwich but with pita bread, and with vegetables and a falafel ball in it. It was very good and it had a very unique taste. It was $4.50 and definitely worth it, especially since they gave us such a large portion which sometimes can be rare at Disney. Any ways I would recommend that you purchase one of these tasty treats if you end up going to this glorious event. That would be all, Thanks to Lieutenant Dan for a safe journey home from Mars, even though we lost Ted…

The first place I went to was France. I ordered Parmentier de Beef Braise au Cabernet which is braised short ribs in Cabernet with Mashed Potatoes. I would recommend it to anyone it only costs $4.50, such a great deal. The taste of all the season together when it hits your mouth it like heaven in the sky.

The Kaki-Gori in Japan had great fruit flavor and was very refreshing on a hot Florida day. It was worth every penny and I definitely would recommend it.

The Chocolate Mousse in France was delicious! It has a smooth texture and tastes amazing. If you love chocolate and can handle the richness of it, then you should really try this. It is well worth the money.

The Chocolate Crepe in France is soooooooo good. I loved it. They pour chocolate sauce on the inside and then fold it over and pour it on the top. It's not too chocolatey, and has great texture. It is a little pricey, but I recommend it.

I also had the Arroz con Pollo in Puerto Rico and it was amazing. You could taste the hispanic spices and it made you feel like you were really there. Highly recommend trying this tasty dish. It's 3.25 and definitely worth it.

Finally, I had the Lobster and Scallop Fisherman's Pie. If you like seafood, then you'll love this dish. It was nice and hot and the flavors are wonderful. It's quite expensive at 5.50, but I really recommend trying it.

Thank you to Mrs. Jackson and all the students for this thread! This is one of the best threads I've ever read on the Disboards! I so enjoyed it and had a smile on my face reading all of your reviews! I was forturnate enough to be at Epcot on the opening day of the Food and Wine Festival, so I got to see and sample many of the things you did too. I have a son is HS and can't wait to share this thread with him! He loves to eat too which will make it all the better! You all did such a great job! :thumbsup2

Our trip to disney was so much fun, I enjoyed every minute of it probably because of the amazing orange chicken I ate in the Chinese pavilion. The price was only $9.05 including tax. I think it was definitely worth it because by the time I finished my meal I was completely satisfied and full. I highly recommend visiting the Chinese pavilion as well as the Food and Wine Festival as a whole.

The first stop I made was in China where I bought some excellent pork pot stickers. Pork pot stickers are like dumplings filled with pork and topped with a delicious tangy sauce. The cost of this little appetizer was $3.50 which I think was a little much since they only give you two pot stickers, well that's Chinese food for you it always leaves you hungry an hour later. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend this dish.

The next stop I made was in Germany. There, I purchased a nerenberger, which is like a German hot dog with a pretzal bun. It also came with a spicy mustard dipping sauce. The price of $4.50 seemed fair to me, due to the large portion and excellent taste. I strongly recommend this dish.

My final and favorite stop was in New Orleans, U.S.A.:cool1::worship:
At this booth, I bought chicken and andoulle gumbo. This personal favorite of mine is made of rice, chicken, sausage(andoulle), and a spicy broth. One of the many things I loved about this dish was that it's always served fresh and hot and it tastes amazing. The price, however, is a little pricy at $3, but I think the price is worth it. I recommend this dish among all others. TRY IT!!!!!!

I tried to figure out how to edit my post but I just ended up replying to my own post. so here is my real review of my dish.

My first stop on my class trip to Epcot's Food and Wine Festival was the Lotus Blossum Cafe where I tried the Orange Chicken with White rice. I liked the dish overall and it was reasonably priced at $8.49. The dish was basicly some sweet and sour chicken rolled in a tangy orange sauce with a healthy portion of white rice on the side. I would definitely recommend this to anyone is in the mood for some oriental cuisine.

JAMMMMM per 3
For my first stop I went to Tokyo. It was very hot out so I ordered a nice cold California Roll. This was the best one I have ever had by far. It had rice and seaweed wrapped around crab meat, fish eggs, and cucumber. It was only 3.50 and totally worth it.http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n23/daddyslilgirly48/japan1.jpghttp://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n23/daddyslilgirly48/TokyoMenu.jpg

Next I visited Italy and ordered a Cannelloni. It was so cheesey and amazing. If you don't like cheese then I this is not the dish for you. This cost 4.50 but was my favorite of them all.http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n23/daddyslilgirly48/can.jpg

Last but not least I went to Mexico City. Which was flipping amazing in my opinion. Before this trip to Mexico I had made up a song for Mexico. Now I'm going to sing it for you:
I wanna go to Texaco
while I'm in Mexico
I'll buy tacos and nachos and maybe get a geico
While I'm in Mexico
I'll rename America to Americo
While I'm in Mexico
Mexico rocks ya boom hehe
ok I hope you enjoyed my song.:yay::yay::cheer2:
Anywho back to my food in Mexico. I had a tostado that had beans, onions, sour cream, tomatos, and chicken. It was so yummy it felt like my taste buds were having a party in my mouth. The price was only 4.00. I liked it but I'm not sure it was worth that much.

First stop at the epcot food and wine festival for me was France. In france I sampled Escargot, which smothered in sauce and bread, is snails. Oddly enough this dish was really good and is a must if anyone decides to stop by. It costs $4.50.

Next food I tried was the strawberry tart also in France, and it was amazing. Filled with strawberrys, whipped cream, and in a pastry bowl its a must if you love sweets. It costs $4.25

Last I ventured to India and sampled the mango lassi, which looked exactly like nacho cheese, but was very refreshing on a hot Florida day. It tasted like you were eating a mango, it was very good. It was pretty cheap, only $2.75.

Thank you all who read and commented on our thread! The students really enjoyed the comments, and I loved the fact that they had a real world audience as the majority of the time, the only person reading their writing is a teacher. We do apologize for any spelling/grammar errors. They were told to edit, but not all of them did. I will say they were quite surprised that there were people from all over the world who read these posts (thanks to our friend from England!) Also, thanks to Slightly Goofy for your assessment of active learning. I read your post to all the classes and that post alone made our assignment worth it.

My students have lived in Central Florida most of their lives (though many of us are transplants from the North) and they find it difficult to fathom that anyone would countdown to a Disney trip, let alone have an entire website devoted to information and planning for one or sharing about one. To them, Disney is just a place to go when the desire strikes just like the mall! I explained to them that many people save for a long time for their trips, and to them it is a truly magical place. I know they will probably understand this a lot more when they have their own children someday. Last year when we went on this field trip, I was VERY pregnant with my second child (and ate a lot more, I might add.) This year, I had the privilege of taking my own two princesses who are almost three and 7 months with us. The students loved passing them around and holding them, and my almost three year old had her first experience with characters she could actually talk to who talked back (Snow White and Mulan.) It was an unforgettable experience for me and was a wonderful experience with my students. I can definitely say this is the best job in the world, and I do learn something new from my students every day.

Stay tuned for next semester's trip. Anyone have any suggestions on where we should go? We are looking for ideas...

My dear Mrs. Jackson

If only the country was populated with teachers with your imagination and creativity as well as students with such interesting, and often opposing, views on things. :goodvibes

How I have delighted in reading each and every post. They were all informative and illuminating and I will keep them in mind on my next trip to the Food and Wine Festival (I shall skip the snails and yes I have tried them before).:rotfl:

I was much taken with the fact that not only the food was critiqued but the value as well. It is rare to find such young people who have a grasp on financial reality, just another layer to their educational day that will stand them in good stead one day.

While all the posts were well thought out and written there were two that stood out, probably due to my strange sense of humor. :rotfl:Timbo, "like the birth of a child"? Hyperbole works for me. :woohoo: Ash, you remind me of a person I used to know and be. Verbosity can be a good thing, especially when you have such a wonderful vocabulary. Bet you are a reader. Me, too.

Might I suggest that if you should return to DW next year you might consider taking your students on the Morocco tour. You have to sign up in advance but it is free and very enlightening. Did you know tht Morocco was the first foreign country to recognize America as a country? :teacher:

If you should want to wander out of the state of Florida you might consider coming to Columbus, Indiana where we have a fantastic Ethnic Expo each October. If you should so decide please let me know and I will join you!:cheer2:

The Lotus Blossom Cafe is a cafe in China. I ordered the orange chicken with sweet orange sesame sauce with a side of white rice($8.49). Although, the dish looks very appetizing, it is sad to say it did not taste as good as it looked. Unfortunately, the dish was just an illusion. The chicken had barely any taste to it and the white rice wasn't even fried. I do not recommend this dish to anyone but, if you do enjoy China's Orange chicken then it is completely on you. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Angel!
