But I cant' stay away that long, especially since everyone here at "home" is so darned nice. :goodvibes:goodvibes There are a couple of folks over on the other thread that are already starting to get on my nerves!!!:rolleyes1
Michelle, don't forget to add me in to the PC repo cruise list, at least for now. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it works out with Erik's schedule. Holly, are you still planning to do that cruise? I see your name listed her, but I didn't see it on P. 1 of that thread. Or maybe I just missed it.

Hello everyone!
I continue to be very much heads down at work, trying to save the project I was assigned to right before I left for vacation in September, so I'm extremely busy.
But this is a very good thing. Good to be assigned to a tangible project rather than strategy development for the future.
We are expecting that the the acquisition of the company I work for will be complete in November.
There has been no information about the transition plan. A group of managers in the IT department is going to NY next week to start some discussions. Not sure why we had to initiate them, but at least they will start. My boss won't be there because she's out on medical leave.
I believe the goal is to just absorb us, but at any rate I think when discussions happen in the coming weeks about who's working on what it is better that I'm working on the development and implementation of a new billing system which is easier to understand and digest.

Also, Michelle, it's OUR thread. Thieves, and Bubba is always right, why even bother to try to change it, you know he will win in the end. (did I say that outloud!!!)
This afternoon is Willie's last surgeon appointment, one more xray. Sadly at out of pocket $54 each I'd be happy to pass, but I guess the doctor knows what they "need" to see :sad2:
Send more :wizard: to Paul please. Still not much luck on the job front

::yes:: still booked but no $$$ too pay it off yet. If we're working we'll go, if not another time. Don't have to decide really until the last minute. I think the prices are going to plummet the closer we get, so even if we have to move our deposit I could move it back if/when the price drops. long story, maybe we go maybe we don't

I gotta do the doctor thing tomorrow...John will take me. It kills me because I was just starting to get a little active again. Well it's just a small delay.
Nan, I'm sending you tons of pixie dust and love that Paul lands a good one very, very soon.

Sorry, but I'm off to bed! Serenity's birthday party was yesterday and it was great fun! She's been here ever since I got home, but goes back to her mom's tomorrow night for the next 4 days, so I hope to get back to say hi and post some pics sometime this weekend. I do work all weekend though and we are having our Thanksgiving feast on Monday :thumbsup2
Goodnight:cloud9:
Dinner at Kathe's House on Monday!!!
Hi All...I had a bum accident...I stubbed my toe and now I'm on crutches and ice and pain killers. It's swollen so it may be a slight fracture or just a bad bruise. I gotta do the doctor thing tomorrow...John will take me. It kills me because I was just starting to get a little active again. Well it's just a small delay.
Nan, I'm sending you tons of pixie dust and love that Paul lands a good one very, very soon.
Everyone, I would love to stay and chat, but the Vicodin is kicking in and I'm going to lay down. Usually I take a half....tonight I took a whole....it HURTS!!!
Deb... I would normally tell you to let John spoil you silly... but he already does that... :lovestruc :lovestruc Feel Better

We are breaking record highs here at the moment.I'm not complaining as long as I can get inside. Monica is obviously not praying hard enough for rain!!!:rotfl2:

Morning All!
Found ya......just checking in to say hi.
I have been so swamped lately at work, but it is all paying off. I am in the process of building up another business and over the last few weeks my hard work for the last year is starting to pay off!!!! In a nutshell, that means that Scott and I can finally start to breathe financially!
It has been a really rough few years for us in more ways than one....and for some reason with Rosh Hashanah this year, I felt that a big change was coming...sure enough the year 5770 is going to be wonderful! I hope it brings lots of great changes for everyone else as well (since I know I am not the only one who has had struggles over the past years).
Hope everyone is doing great! Hugs to you all....sorry I can't keep up here more often, but hopefully after 1/1/10 my life will slow down and I can start to have more fun!:thumbsup2
Have our B2B booked for 2011, but just can't seem to get excited about it yet or start planning....maybe in 2010 I will.
Planning our WDW vacations...hopefully 1/10 and 10/10....anyone else going to be there?????
Have a great weekend. It's another home Hawks game (Ken....are you betting against us again? Just checking) hoping that this week they actually remember to show up and play!

Molly update....
The good news is that our doctor called back and gave me a script for her over the phone :thumbsup2
Bad news, she still has a fever and feels bad :sad2:
The sad news is that she will be missing her first school year concert tonight and Community dinner at her school :sad1:
But the last bit of Molly news is that she was placed BACK into advanced math. Last year she tested just below the cut off (handwriting issues on the test) and she got placed down in math, but she is one of the bright students so it really was a case of not reading what was best for the student. She has endured 6 weeks of average math class (BORING) and now has to suffer thru a schedule change of her core(english and social studies) teacher. She is happy about the harder math class, but we are all bummed that she has to re-learn a new core teacher :sad2:

hope she feels better soon. I can't believe how sick kids are getting around here already. The school nurse told me yesterday that she has sent home between 8-15 kids per day since school started! That doesn't include the ones that stayed home.....yikes...might be a rough season! Boost those immune systems everyone!!!!

Just popping in for a second. Haven't really had time to catch up, but....
DEB: hope your toe is feeling better today and that it's just bruised, not broken.
HOLLY: I haven't had time to say that I hope the new schedule is working out for you and Tyler. It sure sounds like it should make things smoother.:cheer2:
NAN: sorry for all the "stuff!" You just seem to be getting hammered. I'll be keeping good thoughts for the whole family.:wizard:
SHANNON: ADORABLE pix!
EVERYONE: Sorry I can't keep up and I don't mean to leave anyone out, but I'll keep popping in when I can.
DEBORAH: Did you see my question about your trip to England? I'd love to see your family while we're there if you make it down as far as a day's train trip from London.
Had my flu shot today. I've never had one before and I was a little shocked when the doc recommended it. Then I remembered that I turned 50 this year and that puts me in the "high risk" (read: OLD!) category. :scared1:Now I'm depressed.... But not for long, because we leave for Europe a week from tomorrow!!!!!! I'm SO excited.
Hugs to all and I'll see you around when I can.:grouphug:

still booked but no $$$ too pay it off yet. If we're working we'll go, if not another time. Don't have to decide really until the last minute. I think the prices are going to plummet the closer we get, so even if we have to move our deposit I could move it back if/when the price drops. long story, maybe we go maybe we don't

I am so envious of the weather you are having! All we are getting is rain, rain and more rain since I got home :headache: We can't even enjoy the leaves on the trees, they just don't look nice without the sun shining on then! They are sopping on the trees and sopping all over the yard. Brian raked a bunch for me one afternoon, when it actually stopped raining for a couple of hours. That night, a raccoon got into the bags and now the leaves are all over my driveway:mad: We get to put them out at the street for pick-up next week, so hopefully we'll get a respite from the rain and get them all bagged up again!

Howdy everybody! :grouphug: SUPER busy today, so I'm trying to catch up all over the place.
Some stuff from our last thread:
Nan & Shannon, I can't gift the buffalo topiary yet, but will as soon as I get to that level. :goodvibes
Nan: glad you got the meds for Molly, hope she feels better quickly. Great news about her math class though....WAY TO GO MOLLY!!!!!! :dance3: Police dog will be fun to see at Wilson's upcoming scout meeting. :thumbsup2
I was really busy at work because I missed almost 1/2 the day from oversleeping and a doctor appointment, so I was busting my booty the rest of the day trying to catch up. I'm going to go in and work a bit tomorrow and/or Sunday too because there's just too much leftover work.
Had to rush home because somebody was coming over to buy the guinea pig cages I sold on Craig's List. Then Tyler laid down for about 1/2 hour with a bad headache while I did some fish stuff on FB, and when he felt better we went clothes shopping for him. When we got home we spent WAY too much time on FB! Tyler was watching me with on Fish World and asked if he could have his own tank, so I let him sit down and set his up. He used up all my money, but that's OK because more fish are ready to sell. :thumbsup2 I was showing him other peoples' fish tanks and when he saw one of Nan's, he asked "Why are there brains in her fish tank? Gross!" :rotfl2: The coral. ;)
Tomorrow will be even busier! First thing in the morning we're going to Lowe's for one of their building workshops for kids. Then we're headed to our local science museum for Scouts Chemistry Day. Then we'll head to a co-worker's house for a house warming party. We need to squeeze lunch in there somewhere, and laundry too. When we finally get home, if we're not completely exhausted, we're going to finish putting Halloween decorations up, do our outside ones, and put batteries in all the inside ones that need them.

Happy Saturday all!
For a change I'm not working this morning. I was supposed to sub but it got weird. I was asked earlier in the week whether I could sub for a meeting that is 5 minutes away from our house (15 minutes if I walk). Then yesterday the leader called me a work to say that there was a very strong chance she would be working. We agreed she would email me in the evening. By 8 p.m. (about the time I start getting sleepy) I hadn't heard from her. I phone her and she said there was a 99% chance she would work and could she phone me later. I told her that why don't we just assume I'm NOT working, and told her I'd be happy to fill in at any time.
I was sort of po'd because I really wanted to know if I would have to go to bed early enough to get up for work. I didn't understand all the farting around with it. Either yes she needed me to sub or no. I don't mind doing it, but I only get 1 morning a week to sleep in and needed to know if I could stay up late or not (late means until 11:00 p.m.)
Sorry I've been so quiet. I really have nothing to say. I'm just very busy at work still trying to bring the off-course project in to meet the date of the pilot. I only have 50% confidence that it can be done.
I have little time or energy these days for anything other than work. That's not a bad thing. It's just one of those things that is.
It's a good thing from a work perspective given the acquisition and transition.
The meeting in NY next week got cancelled. Very odd, so no inkling of a transition plan yet. It was cancelled by the NY folks who were not very engaged in the concept of a meeting and from what I hear not very prepared. It would be nice to know what going on and the status of our jobs.
I am still in a much better position now than I was before our last vacation, because I am leading up a project that's critical to the business.
I still haven't figured out what to do with my found vacation days. I'm 98% leaning towards just staying home. I'm not sure that I'm in the mood to go away and would like to save the money for some other things.
I've been rather quiet lately. Frankly I haven't got much to say about anything much these days. I also don't have the time to keep up with the multiple thread and posting the same thing in multiple places.
Our thread to Alaska is nice, but I haven't got a whole lot to say about a trip that's over 570 days away. I'm more concerned with planning the big family holiday next October with the daughter-in-law (Lucy), a friend of her (Carmel) and the grandson (Ben) coming for a fortnight's.
I find it difficult to engage in a trip that's a year away, let alone a trip that is OVER a year and half away. Right now I'd like to make it to my birthday and still have a job.
I have only done the amount of planning that I was forced to do about something I can't get engaged in.
The good news is that by banking the DVC points we have left this year into next year, we won't have to borrow points from 2011. We'll have enough for a 2-bedroom at Old Key West for 14-nights. We'll stay at OKW because the units are much larger than any of the other resorts.
I have also had to have some discussions about tickets with Lucy, who apparently wants to buy a 14-day WDW Ultimate ticket (for UK residents only) that includes all the parks and water parks, PLUS a 14-day Orlando flex ticket that includes Universal's parks, Seaworld and their water park Aquatica, Wet n Wild and Busch Gardens.
I pointed out that the WDW ticket comes with 2 water parks, and questioned the need for another 2, or a grand total of 4 water parks. I mean how much time of a holiday can you spend in water parks? There's also the question of how they'll get to these other water parks because while I'll rent a car, I have not interest in them. I also don't really want to drive all the way to Tampa to go to Busch Gardens.
I know it's a year out, but there are facts I know about myself. I have never in my entire life wanted to drive to Tampa, especially not to see some animals.
I have stepped away and am letting Sukie deal with his daughter. You should see Sukie in stern father mode. It's quite a shock to the system. It's also interesting that his daughter is 33 but pretty much obeys what he lays down.
And so that is where I am. Busy and still employed.
Oh, one more thing. I bought the blu-ray Snow White that came out. Through a price reduction and a $10 off coupon I ended up paying $9 for it at Amazon.
I was skeptical about an HD version of it, but it is AMAZING. Not so much for the movie, but for the bonus disk and materials. It has all the bonus stuff from the previous platinum version done in 2001, PLUS an entire new set of bonus materials. It's the new bonus materials that are worth the money. The new interactive documentary materials are AMAZING. It's the highlight of the set.

Oh, that sounds yummmy, as I love spice cake (but I think I'd skip the raisins). Did you put a cream cheese frosting on it?
Holly....did I miss something, do you not have the guina pigs any more? Or did you upgrade cages, so you are selling the original ones?
....oops, gotta go shift a load from washer to dryer and start another...

Ian, if your visitors are buying their own tickets then I would say let them get the multi ones as it gives flexibility and choice, and they don't cost too much more. However I agree that it is an awful lot to do in just 14 days!!! Our UK tickets are wonderfrul value.
However, f you and Sukie are buying their tickets then I would clamp down on their enthusiasm as they won't get everything done.!!

Thanks for the advice Marilyn. They're buying their own tickets and the Orlando Flex ticket is a great value for a fortnight at £176 (edited later to correct the price from £149) , I have however pointed out to them that there is a 7-day Universal hopper and a 2-visits within 7-days Seaworld ticket that works out to about £105. If we stagger and over lap the 7-day periods a bit, that might be good enough.
Lucy's friend has never been to WDW at all so as you say, that's a lot to cram in in 14-days. WDW alone for the first time visitor is a lot to do, though I don't think it's 14-days worth.

I'm 45 and I occasionally still listen to My mother... (we're very good at ignoring each other - especially after 9 pm...)
Glad you still have a job... waiting to see if I have one... :headache:
& I keep watching the commercials for the SW blue ray... All I can say is I was in that store you hate the other day and they had up, I think ... Ice Age and the contrast and depth was AMAZING...
Happy Saturday All...
Mom and I just went to Olivers for Breakfast... very nice as always... Faith always spoils me... Not much else planned today... the sun is trying to poke through.. very windy though... Thank God the tree in the front is a birch or else we would have lost it the other day... Trying to clean out the garden that died... first frost is possible by Tuesday... with the slight chance of wet snow in the higher elevations (which I am not...)

not much new here since yesterday
molly feels better and did eat breakfast :thumbsup2
We are in house clean up mode today, Tuesday we have Paul's cousin and wife visiting for an over night. He is a race car driver, and has been very interested in Willie's karting so I think we will have a fun visit. It's a cousin we haven't met before so who knows??? Funny fact, none of the rest of Paul's family is coming over to see them. We are keeping it on the quiet side. Too short a visit for the whole family and they haven't gotten to know him like Paul and I have over the last year. Just another weird family moment :rolleyes1
Holly I figured out why you sleep so much. Because when you are awake you are a crazy woman  You are going all over the place this weekend, it makes me tired reading about it
Ian, hope you enjoyed your lie in today.
Shannon, yummmmmm turkey dinner sounds so goodddddd
everyone else, enjoy the fall day. It's lovely here today, maybe a short bike ride around the block later is called for :dance3:

The before threads were done with alot of help from the people who were there mostly to make plans, etc. :surfweb: But it is the rest of us that keeps the story going... We have gone through just about everything together from births to deaths to all in between...
People come and people go... but it is those who have bonded and become family who are on here now...

Greetings from the bankrupt state! We are still working, a good thing, the boys still have no idea we are booked for the Northern European Capitals trip in Jun 10, I am planning on booking the B2B from LA to Alaska (trying to refi the house right now to pay for all of it!) and the boys are doing well. The hard part is that they seem to think they are now entitled to travel every year. Trying to break them of that thought even though it is mostly true. Ok hugs to all you Thieves and look forward to seeing anyone who comes to SoCal again. TinkRules can always get intouch with me if I have not been on for a while.

Hi Friends...glad it's Sunday and that Saturday is over. I went to my neighbor's funeral service. Fortunately, I didn't have to go on crutches. I took a lot of vicodin and limped. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. It was so crowded. I cried immediately after seeing the first picture of Kelly. There was a long line to wait in to go up front to greet Mike and Kelly's parents. Then I sat in the back and John and the kid stood. The lady sitting next to me had a small boy with her who just returned to sit with her. I said at least the kids are not here. She told me, "Oh yes they are, they were just playing together." Then I saw the back of Mikayla's head sitting with her dad getting ready to start the service. I lost it. The woman then told me that Mikayla is blocking the whole thing out. She's walking around being giddy and silly. OMG that poor child. Then during the service they told the ages of the kids...Mikayla is 7 and little Michael is only 4. I didn't realize that he was that much younger than his sister. OMG that poor family. I'm glad that day is over for me. We didn't go to the cemetary. We left the church and went home. Enough! I would have started sobbing uncontrollably and didn't want to do that. I tried to be strong, but it was so hard.

I'm already paid in full and have booked Palo brunch and an Atlantis excursion so that we can stay on property all day. I have to remember to do the online check in today. WOOHOO! Then I'm ready. I'll just pack a weekender. I'll wash some clothes and pack from my big suitcase that I used for Tortola. Although in January it's going to be a little cooler in Florida. Back from a horrible Sunday and a crappy experience with a member.
I had started a getting started session when a woman and her daughter came flying into the room, interrupted and wanted to ask me a "quick question." I told them I would be happy to answer their question after I was done, and I was with a member.
She kept pressing about her "quick question." I asked her what it was, and she said, pointing at her daughter, "she's been doing this for a month and hasn't lost any weight."
I told her that I'd be happy to speak to them afterwards, but out of courtesy to the member (new member, who arrive on-time, even early) that I would so so after I finished the session so I could give them my attention.
She stormed out and said, "Well I think you should be courteous to members who come and not make them wait 30 minutes."
What so of quick answer did she want? A or B or C?
A = Your daughter is obviously stupid and can't stop eating
or
B = Your daughter is seriously ill seek a doctor immediately
or
C = Your daughter is a genetic anomaly. Are you sure she's yours and you were not abducted by aliens who implanted you with an alien fetus?
That's about the best quality I could have mustered for a "quick answer."
That question was a 30 minute discussion it itself.
I get so upset with the rudeness sometimes. Plus the rudeness to the member I was with. Someone must have forgotten to call me before I left the house this morning to let me know that the center of the universe would be coming to my meeting.
For the most part I am very caring with my members, but this sort of rudeness really upsets me. Plus when a member does not want to own their results and for some reason wants me to own it.
I was really extremely upset by the entire incident.

I'm proud of you for sticking with the member that you were already helping. How could you be as rude to her as the apparent other member was. Her daughter is probably not losing any weight in a month because she's cheating, but YOU can't say that. You have a real job to do. It would take you hours to analyze what she's been doing for a month to give the mom the right answer. That lady is just a putz.

Thank you everyone for allowing me to vent and making me feel MUCh better.
There's a real chill in the air today. Almost time for us to start watching TV with our footie pajamas.
I've also started to plan Thanksgiving dinner.
::yes:: I need to know what to have with the yams in booze :thumbsup2
I told you I'm not looking at C-town for Tday right? My nephew graduates first weekend in Nov. and only 4 tickets to it, so I'm not even invited :snooty:

What a bummer! Hope the rest of the day went better.:grouphug:

Hey, guys, I just had to come on in just to be on page one! That hasn't happened in a LONG time!
Yup, we're booked on the PC repo. I just didn't PM my info to the person doing the other thread. I'm not sure how active I'll be, maybe when it gets closer I might want to join in more. I've only posted a few times I think. I'm just not feeling good vibes yet. I'll try again soon.

This mouse is driving me CRAZY! I'm literally chasing it around the house! I still haven't seen any evidence left behind, but today I started seeing it dart across the floor. I'm running around trying to drop a bucket upside down on it to catch it that way because it's completely avoiding all traps. I keep putting more traps where I see it (it likes Tyler's bedroom!!!!!!) but can't catch it. :headache: I just saw it run from the bathroom into Tyler's room. :scared::faint::(

Good to hear things are moving in the right direction, congrats!!!! :yay:

The before threads were done with alot of help from the people who were there mostly to make plans, etc. :surfweb: But it is the rest of us that keeps the story going... We have gone through just about everything together from births to deaths to all in between...
People come and people go... but it is those who have bonded and become family who are on here now...

That place looks beautiful and the food was great for the brunch, but we were all a little disappointed with the food for Turkey Day. It wasn't worth the price we paid.
So we found another place to try. We'll see how this one works out. We'll take pics.
I wish we had the wherewithall to cook so that we could have the leftovers. But that's just not going to happen. Not now. John said what do we do about having Ray here with Angel? We'll have to keep her locked in the bathroom. Then when Ray needs to use the bathroom, it's a pain. It's just not worth it. We'll go out. If we want to cook a little turkey for us later, we can do that.
You're doing it right. Just say you're cooking and whomever wants to will come. If not, there's always next year. No worries.

Since we live next door to a corn field, when we first moved in here we had a LOT of mice. We tried everything and nothing worked. Finally John went into the local Agway store and said help. They told him RAT POISON. It will kill anything that you don't want in your house. We have never seen a mouse here since. You put it around all the cracks and seams around the house. It's safe for the dog and cat....not sure about Tyler and Guinea Pigs. If you have any specific questions on what kind to buy and where to place it, just email John or ask your local "Agway like" kind of store. If you don't have any stores like that, John can suggest other places where you might check. I'll PM you his email address. Good Luck! It works!

Nan, John says you're right. Don't put them where the pets can find them.
Put them in dark places that are not accessible to any other animals, i.e. under or behind the refrigerator, washer and dryer, under the sink in the back, behind and under the couch, etc. Another idea if possible is under the crawl space under the house outside. Basically hide them away from Tyler and the guinea pigs where they can't reach them. Then you'll never see another mouse again.

Yeah.. I was gonna mention that big rat we all love... :lmao:
You should think about it for next year.
Planning is in full swing. I'm now trying to figure out if I'm going to do an organic free range or a heritage turkey this year (which is also organic and free range).
I think you should free range it under the El... might be kind of gritty though....

I'm off the crutches now. I just take a half of vicodin every day and have a little pain, but tolerable. I limp when I walk still. At least there's been some improvement. This should be gone in an couple more days. That probably means that it's not broken. At least it's healing fast....I'm happy. I had just started to get active around the house. Sure, that's why I banged it. hahaha.:laughing::laughing:

:rotfl2: I did trap one.......sort of. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and saw it run under the door to a closet. I was too 1/2 asleep to manage moving a trap over there because I thought he'd just run out again, so I stuffed an old bathroom towel under the space between the bottom of the door and the floor so he couldn't get out and was going to deal with it in he morning. Well....I overslept...supposed to be at work at 8:30 but never heard my alarm (and it has an automatic snooze so it goes off every five minutes, 5 times in a row), and only woke up when our office manager called me at 9:30. So I was too rushed to deal with the mouse until I got home. I put a trap by the closet door and then pulled the now chewed up towel out, hoping he'd rush right out and into the trap. I've not seen him one single time today. :headache:

Yes! Rat Poison causes big time stink
Well not the kind that we use....do you all really think I would have stinking dead mice all over the house. I think it makes them thirsty and they wander off to find water before they die. I repeat, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MOUSE since we started using this stuff....dead or alive.
And the rat poison that we use has no smell at all. It's a hard square like substance....no smell, no mice.
btw, I don't recall seeing you on here before, skyshelder. This is the Ship of Thieves....did you sail with us?

Good news about the toe Deb, And lovely photos.
My mammogram appt came through befoe we came away and I had to postpone it till I get back!! We have them every 3 years from our 50th birthdays. Good reminder though,
Hope the storms arean't too bad out West. Amazing that that storm started down Mexico or S America way, went all accross the Pacific to torment Japan, then worked its way back and landing up in California! In the process it was what caused our heatwave down in Florida by causing a chain of weather situations. So the weatherman said.

:scared::faint::(
Get a big deep bucket.
Put some cheese or some sort food in it.
put a ramp going up to the lip of the bucket so the mouse can easily get to the top. Make sure it is deep enough that he won't jump out but not too deep that he won't jump in.
In the morning you will probably find the mouse in the bucket which you can then take outside and let him loose in the neighbour's yard.

I'm back. Just finished speedreading through 10 pages.
We had a good Tday (not up to Ian's gourmet standards though ;) ). I decided to try using dill on the steamed carrots. Ken didn't think it sounded good, but everybody liked it :thumbsup2 The chocolate pumpkin cake was good. Just one chocolate cake mix with one can of pumpkin, and then it seemed too thick so I added a cup of milk and then a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Turned out nice and light, and everybody liked it except Ken (he doesn't like pumpkin at all!). And lots of leftovers (which is why Ken likes it when its at our house).
Ian - your life sounds busy in a good way, except for the wacky mom at WW. I like Deborah's answer the best!
Holly - hope the mouse is gone for good. Ken's bucket trap works great for Hamsters:thumbsup2

My wound leg is good again. I guess it was just the transition from steroids back to using the boot compressor instead. Dry and no leaks, inflamation still exists, but it's not extreme and it's under control. No wrapping anymore, just using the boot every night for an hour. And I haven't had an infection since the cellulitis in May. WOOHOO!!!
Left foot toe is getting much better too. Two days of no drugs now and the pain keeps lessening. Soon I won't even be limping anymore. WOOHOO!!!

Here's where the shoe falls and the rug gets pulled out....
I talked to my brother yesterday and he said that Jane (ex wife and mother) is having problems with Casey (nephew) not going to school and getting caught in compromising positions with his girlfriend....they're both 17 years old....she says that he doesn't keep his room clean. She's fed up and wants him to live in an apartment with my brother in Texas near the boat. My brother lives on the boat. He doesn't need an apartment just for himself. He said he would have to talk to Casey and if he wanted to could he move in here to finish high school. He thought Casey would want to be here instead of home with his mom and it's going to be too tough for him to have Casey move to Texas with him.
Casey is Tristan's (the marine) younger brother. Jane says that she had one that's perfect and one that's not.
Personally, I think Casey is a good kid. He has a harder time getting along with his mother. Tristan is just like Jane and Casey is just like my brother. Hence the conflict.
Me and John talked it over, we hope he doesn't want to come here, but if he does and it's going to help him get on the right track then he's welcome. He has to follow our rules and he has to get a part time job and go to school and do well. I think he will. He won't be a problem like Tom was. He's even more behaved than Kris is and Kris was a sweetheart when he visited. We'll see what happens.
Feel free to talk about it on here, but DO NOT mention it on FB...both Jane and Tristan are on my friends list. Thanks.

Glad to hear the leg and toe are improving.
It ticks me off to hear a parent say they have one perfect child and one not
Long before I had kids, I had to take some arts courses in order to get my science degree, and I chose to take child psychology for 2 semesters. I found it really interesting. One section I really found interesting was all about expectations and how kids will believe what you say about them. If you tell a child they are the the bad one, there's a good chance they will be the bad one, cause they are meeting your expectations.
Anyhow, I hope it all works out for Casey. You and John are very generous to keep taking in kids :upsidedow

I couldn't agree more Shannon. John and I were in their presence when Jane and Tristan would comment about Casey and his shortcomings because he wasn't exactly like them, he was just like his father. That's what they said. Me and John were appalled. We did not want to start a war so we kept our mouths shut. This was a few years ago at Tristan's Jr. High graduation. My loss pattern was odd but steady, big loss followed by a little or no loss, followed by a gain, followed by a big loss again. This pattern kept repeating.
Regarding foods, eTools has lots of alternative recipes. Another strategy is to prioritize, I'm sure that not all of the treats are must haves, they may be "wanna haves" but they're not must haves. Identify what are the must haves and try working them into the plan in reasonable amounts.
I also understand that diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires are all treats and all of them have very low points.

Ya ya I hear ya Deb.
I have to admit, even I had a nephew on my couch for a few weeks when his parents (my sister) kicked him out because he has just gotten his 17 year old girl friend pregnant :sad2: Sadly, the kid is still a dope and a user of people 13+ years later and these kind of personal family dramas are what shapes my mind and choices when I talk about having the kids out of the house and on their own living with their own choices and decessions.
Of course you have to have an open mind to help the kids, but I TOTALLY agree with Shannon and I choose to have the bar held really high and I expect them to suceed (rather than talk smack about them and have them fail) It's very hard when you watch other adults in your own family not support their children in positive parenting ways. I get it Deb. You and John are those kinds of parents to those kids, and they so need you to be.
Dang, just started raining AGAIN and I'm in the office with no hood. So gotta run to the house and out to get Molly from school.
Ciao

At home in Quesnel, Shannon is sitting at a nice luxurious 32 degrees.
It's 93F up where you are now? Awfully hot for this time of year, isn't it?

Thanks.
You're made of stronger stuff than we are. I don't know what we would do.
We were sort of at our wits end with my niece and the way she runs amuck, but then my niece is 46 years old.
I suppose that we would end up doing what you're doing. It's hard for me to shirk responsibility.

Ian you are such a gem!!:laughing: I'm planning on getting PINK diamonds for my birthday...so that's already a given.
That's an excellent idea to prioritize instead of having everything in the house. That's going to be my downfall if I don't put it in check beforehand. Out at the restaurants, I can do fine. I will be getting physical too as soon as the toe gets a little stronger. Thank you. You saved me! Really, it helped.
Did you notice how I ignored the recipe part....that involves cooking! UGH!
I'm glad your weight loss was irregular too. Now I feel normal.

You do what you have to because you love the kid involved. It doesn't matter if that kid is 17 or 37 or if that kid is a nephew or a grandson....when they need help....NOT mooching off of you....but help to get back on their own feet again....then you have got to be there for them. That's what family is all about. When the world kicks you down, your family or family of friends helps you back up. You do it out of love. I know that you would do the same, like it or not, you adjust, you compromise, you make it work temporarily.
Just think, one day that grandson is going to be a teen and maybe not get along so good with mom. Then what if he wants to come and live with grandpa Sukie and grandpa Ian? How could you tell him no?

Now I've got to get back to work.:sad2: Hi to everybody! :goodvibes
Sounds like some great Thanksgiving food there Shannon!!:)
Oops, posted accidentally, so editing the rest so no smilies!!!
I wrote one check today and paid Mrs. Bush. None of the money was mine! WOOHOO!!!
WOOHOO!!!
Every day it's getting better....a little better all the time. It's getting better all the time....better, better, better....getting so much better all the time. A little Beatles music for your lyrical pleasure.
Really pleased for you Deb!!

I'm coming up on my first WW holidays. I have special meals planned and food and drink outside of the norm coming up.
I did good on the cruise because I had a lot of activity. I didn't do as well in the suite after the cruise. I gained 3 pounds.

I'm losing at a weird rate right now too. Since I've been back from vacation....I had gained 3 then I lost 5 then gained 2 then lost 4. How bizarre. I had been losing 2-3 every week before vacation. Overall the numbers are still going down, but how strange.

I'm losing at a weird rate right now too. Since I've been back from vacation....I had gained 3 then I lost 5 then gained 2 then lost 4. How bizarre. I had been losing 2-3 every week before vacation. Overall the numbers are still going down, but how strange.
I've been having a rough time, too! I did SO well the first half of the year.. Lost 30 pounds between January and June, starting at about 2 pounds per week, then slowing down to less than a pound a week, but fairly steady.
Then summer hit and with our crazy schedule I just couldn't make it to meetings. Then I stopped tracking, but was still being "good." Then I stopped thinking about what I was eating. Next thing I knew I was craving fats and sugar again. Sigh... Finally had the guts to step on the scale yesterday. Up 3.5 pounds. Not TOO bad, considering, but certainly not good. Now we're leaving for Europe on Saturday and I know I'm not going to want to "deprive" myself while we're gone so I'm anticipating more weight gain when we get back. The only thing I figure will save me is that we will be walking everywhere!
So when I get back, will someone PLEASE hold me accountable to get back to meetings?? I know I just will not be successful unless I go to meetings. That's just the way I roll. 20 pounds to go and I'll be about at goal. And I do NOT want to quit now!

How about Enlish? ;)
No, Great Britain is metric. Young people, like Sukie's daughter understand Celsius rather than Fahrenheit.
The following are the countries that still use Fahrenheit: United States, Belize, and Jamaica.
The United States can't even get itself onto the metric system. We're having trouble moving on to a system developed in 1791.
The only countries in the world that are not on the metric system: United States, Burma and Liberia.
We attempted to go on the metric system back in the early 1970's but congress freaked out. The ONLY industry that converted was the beverage industry.
Some people in my age group may remember when quart soda bottles disappeared and was replaced by liter and 2-liter bottles, and alcohol became 750ml. How odd! We talk about about buying soda and such in metric measurements and the country didn't blow apart.

We are basically metric now. John does say that buying wood is a mixture. You buy some board 8ft by 4ft, but 25mm thick!!! As you said, we are celsius in temperature, but when we get hot weather we suddenly become farenheit again as it feels much hotter!!! We start talking about being in the 80's or even 90's.:lmao:
I can't ever remember the normal celsius body temperature reading though. 98.4 deg F will always be my normal temperature.;)

IT'S OFFICIAL....it's October 15th at 10:00 am and it's SNOWING! Not just flurries either. It's coming down pretty good, but it's heavy and wet so there's no accumulation yet.
It's usually just flurries for the first time and that's after Thanksgiving. It is early this year. It has been a wet spring and summer....why not fall and winter too.
Good luck driving to Jersey tomorrow Michelle.
Good luck driving home tonight sweetie.

WOW!!! Sounds like we usually get snow before you because it starts the beginning of November around here. I often can't go out of town to Thankgsiving with family because of the weather. It sure hit you early this year!
Sorry, but..... :yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay: I'M READY! I want to go sledding and skiing and throw snowballs at Tyler! :dance3:

Ok so far Deb... the change in weather is getting me though... from the 60's last week to the 20's tonight...
At least you're feeling well enough to be off pain killers. That's a step up for you! Every season this year has had strange and unusual weather. This is just another one.
Hope you feel better in NJ. What part do you go to? John is in Newark.

Deb - love the pixs! And the car!
Hi Gydell....thanks!
You two reminded me of what I did wrong on my "change of eating"(not a diet) way of life - I forgot to set a reward for myself!!!:lmao:
OMG....you MUST reward yourself. Think of something that you really want. I didn't reward myself for not smoking yet, just in case I ever went back. I think it's safe to say that's not going to happen. I'll celebrate with the car for both.
We had dinner with Connie and Chuck tonight and had a great time. They're on their way home from seeing Mike. They said that Patrick is tired of camp and wants to go home!
So glad you got to enjoy a meal and chat together again. I'm sure they had a good time with Mike and Patrick is just funny. Naturally, he wants to be home.:laughing:

We're all here for you because we're all doing it too. Just be sensible and active on vacation. Start tracking and going to meetings when you get back. Put it into your head now, then stick to it.
I find WW works by planning ahead. Don't do anything spontaneous. Like Ian said, for the holidays pick priorities in advance and plan what you'll "cheat" with. If you keep it within weekly points and add activities, it's manageable.
Just ask and we will help in any way...especially our Leader and Guru, Ian. He's the best! He helps us the most!!!

It's big and white and fluffy...not wet anymore and it's just starting to stick. We're going to get our first accumulation. It's supposed to go overnight into tomorrow and they said about 2 inches for my area...the lower altitudes of the Poconos. The higher altitudes are supposed to get 4-6 inches. Winter is here very early this year.:rolleyes:
