Yes, I think they are scheduling it for 6:30-7:30.

I wrote back to them Friday morning and haven't heard back either. Don't be too concerned about not hearing back from them for a couple to a few days.

It's been over a week now. I checked my email and I wrote back to the on the 21st. Do you think it is time to write back, or are they so busy with all the people we have recommended to them?!:rotfl:

Just back from collecting DD from Ebbsfleet the Eurostar station in Kent she has been at DLP all weekend.

Now if any of you are going from Heathrow to Dover ( or back) on embarkation/ disembarkation, look at my post on the main forum Baltic thread.

My friend wants to go to Tivoli Gardens. Here's the website in case anyone is interested: http://www.tivoli.dk/composite-3351.htm

Going by the exchange rates from last time we went, it's about $20/adult to go into the gardens and the rides would be about $40/person.
They do not have the park hours posted online yet since the park does not open until April 15th.

Ok, $20/adult isn't that bad...if we have time we might stop in to check it out. I was thinking it would be more than that.

Hi Everyone!:yay: The girls pirate costumes came in the mail on Friday. I got maps from Tallinn, Oslo and my Rick Steves book on Scandinavia. Things are really coming together.
I wrote back to Anastasia about arriving 12:30 the first day last week and I have not heard back from them. I guess I will have to write back. I think I would like to add the canal cruise on the first night too.
Everyone is off work and school on the 15th so we are going to my bil's house and start working on some trip plans. It is really coming together!:woohoo:

I got my tourist packets from Germany and Tallinn so far. Finally my DH is starting to get interested in the planning. Still waiting on the other tourist packets.
Have you had a chance to look at the Rick Steves book?
Wondering if it is as good as the hype??:confused3

I've been looking at Oslo today. Both online and in the book. I do like the book, it is very informative. He has some maps that he marked off walking tours. I also like that it includes Tallinn.

Anastasia is aware the Disney Magic is arriving at 12.30pm, my two day trip with her is now fully confirmed, filled out the passport stuff for blanket tourist visa, and have had a person assigned to me.

Been in 'active' Email correspondence all last week.

Maybe closed at weekend.

I have found some of the tour groups don't respond to my emails on a weekend. :confused3
It might be that they are closed or just that they are busy or that the person designated to answer emails is off or busy on the weekend:confused3
Plus my DH reminds me that the time difference probably plays a big part too for us in the US.

Liked it, but didn't love it. Special effects and cinematography were amazing! Movie was too long. Will it win Best Picture? Probably.

Found these on one of the other DCL Baltic threads:

http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/fpage/travelplanning/brochures

http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/

http://www.visitoslo.com/en/advantages.52087.en.html

Can't find the one for Germany, but I can tell you that the packet of info I got for Germany had nothing in it for Warnemunde anyway:confused3

Any way to get a temporary cell phone for Germany (like they sell here in the US)?

Nicole I love full planning mode:laughing::thumbsup2

I have mostly concentrated on St P and Germany for now, the other ports are easier I think to do on your own so planning for them can happen closer to cruise time.
There are also a bunch of links on the first page as well.

Our boat ride doesn't say anything about it being private. Maybe we can request to go on the same boat since it's for the same time.

Definately not the reason for the beach meet there. I didn't know this but it certainly doesn't surprise me especially after hearing the 'sights' people saw while on tours in Berlin. Let's just say.....the men don't wear much if anything while 'hanging' out at the parks in Berlin. :scared: Yup, that's the sights you might be seeing in Berlin.
At least the one park we drove by in StP the old people were wearing a little something. Not the sight we all wanted to see there either. :scared1: :scared:

My DH is like that he can go for hours without eating and then eat a huge meal at the end of the day. Me, I get headaches and grumpy if I go too many hours without food:rolleyes1
St P. is the only port I was thinking of eating dinner in as we arrive kinda late on the first day.
I grew up with my parents really pushing us kids to try new food:confused3
They loved to try new restaurants-it's just what I grew up with I guess.

My DH and DS will eat almost anything:scared:
My DD and I are a bit more picky:rolleyes1

When I found the blog I was thrilled to see such a nice layout of pics and recaps. My DH and I were saying "we have to get a better camera".
The part about the nude beach barely registered as I figured "well that's Europe".

So those who have been there what are the things you think will shock or surprise us "yankees";)

Now I know why you all do not want to go to Berlin.......

whilst on the subject, :goodvibes

■Bierschinken—a large slicing sausage with chunks of ham and pistachios
■Bierwurst—coarse-textured slicing sausage flavored with juniper berries and cardamom
■Blutwurst—blood sausage, which comes in many varieties; it is eaten sliced and cold or fried like black pudding
■Bockwurst—smoked and scalded, usually made from finely ground veal; spiced with chives and parsley; resembles a large frankfurter; gently heat in liquid before eating; traditionally served with Bock beer, especially in the spring
■Bratwurst—a pale, smoked sausage made of finely minced veal, pork, ginger, nutmeg and other spices; usually comes raw and must be cooked, but precooked bratwurst is also available (reheat before serving)
■Braunschweiger—a spreadable smoked liver sausage enriched with eggs and milk; the most well known of the liverwurst sausages
■Cervelat—similar to Italian salami, a slicing sausage of pork and beef, spices and often mustard or garlic; Thuringer is a common variety of German cervelat
■Frankfurter—the genuine German variety (not the same as an American frankfurter) contains finely chopped lean pork with a bit of salted bacon fat, and is smoked; reheat in simmering liquid
■Knockwurst; knackwurst—a short, plump smoked sausage needing poaching or grilling; contains finely minced lean pork, beef, spices and, notably, garlic; often served with sauerkraut
■Wienerwurst—believed to be the origin of American frankfurter; beef and pork flavored with coriander and garlic
■Weisswurst—German for "white sausage" and is very pale and delicately flavored; made of veal, sometimes beef and pork, cream and eggs; a specialty of Munich and traditionally served at Oktoberfest with rye bread, sweet mustard and of course, beer.

This is great:thumbsup2

OK, who is going to do planning of excursions for Andrew, the girls and I? I know Laurie is helping me out with St Petersburg , but what about all the other ports? You guys are all so orginized!

Caro I bought the Rick Steves Scandinavia guide yesterday that Karen was posting about. It has a nice overview of many of the ports we are visiting. I found it at Barnes and Noble right next to the old version so make sure you get the one published in Jan 2010 (edition 12 I think).

I wound up taking a highlighter to the page edges of the sections that applied to our ports to make it easier to find what I needed. Basically came to the conclusion that hop on hop off buses were a really good idea and saved a lot of money over the DCL excursions:goodvibes

Someone on one of the Baltic threads advised the Oslo card as being the most practical of the port cards available (that kind of depends on what you want to see). It will get you into many of the main museums and tourist spots for a single price-so how much you save is very much up to how much you use it.

Sorry if I am just repeating stuff you already know...but there really isn't anything that I have found must be reserved in advance for the other ports:confused3

I think St P and Berlin on the ones that if you are doing private tours need to be planned in advance. The other ports you can wait on to plan- I think...unless I'm missing something...anyone else with specific plans for the Scandinavian ports?:confused3

I haven't been able to figure out if the Oslo pass covers the Hop On bus. I played with some of the entrance fees of places we may be interested in and I think the pass is a good idea. It also saves from having to have local money to get into sites.

Our boat ride doesn't say anything about it being private. Maybe we can request to go on the same boat since it's for the same time.

Dinner in port? YOu must be crazy woman, that's what bringing snacks is all about.

Bring snacks and they will be fine.
If we are on the same boat tour the kids can all whine together about being hungry. Plus we can threaten them if they whine too much about it we'll throw them into the river and it's not pretty water. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I am meeting with the in-laws on the 15th to work some plans. I had sent the original itinerary to them and my sil thought it looked good. I just added the boat trip last time I contacted Anastasia. So let me make sure they want to do the boat too and that would be fine with me to share a boat.

I've been lurking around here for a while. You've all provided VERY valuable information during this planning stage.

I've been able to secure a booking with TJ Travel in St. Petersburg, and have found a good amount of info. about the HOHO buses and city cards for the rest of the ports. I think we are just going to wander around Warnemunde instead of heading over to Berlin.

Now that our St. Petersburg planning is done, the only other major thing we need to plan is our two days in London and getting to Dover (already e-mailed Celestine about the bus).

Let me know what they say and we'll share the boat if possible.

I rec'd back my revised (once again) itinerary and it looks good to me. Just have to check with the friends to make sure it's fine with them. We are doing very different things this time: Constantine's Palace, Peter and Paul Fortress, last 1800's warship that is docked on the Neve River and the Military Armory Museum. DD is extremely excited about the military museum.

We'll take snacks with us and see if we have time to also stop for a local snack the first day. The 2nd day we have lunch scheduled in but no place in mind to eat. I'm hoping to go to the Stolle Pie Shop again or something along those lines.

We will probably fly in the night of the 15th and spend the 16th and 17th in London. So far planning on the London Eye for the first day (16th) and Tower of London the second (17th). I'll add on more depending on how we feel.

Oh I was:rolleyes1 Really amazing I managed to make it out of U of R with a degree:laughing: Can't drink much now, but I'll be sure to have some wine or schnapps on this cruise

Lurking and copying information that you wonderful people post into emails to the rest of the family. They are all very grateful for the information presented here.

Oh I agree this forum is a great place to get info for planning:thumbsup2
I've learned so much from the folks here:grouphug:

Sorry for the delay in my response!

I sent you a PM.

Thanks!

:lmao::lmao:I'm sure you can pick some up after the tour

True, but this way I will have lots of information right at hand. :thumbsup2

I notice you have a tag saying you need to post LOTS more! Keep that in mind! :)

Oddly enough I was given that tag by a mod that was on my cruise during the last med cruise when I spent most of the time lurking and not posting :)

I have been posting on this forum since 2002 and still have yet to get a tag:guilty: Like Mike said before I think I have tag fairy repellent:rolleyes:

Something to think about for those lurking. A woman that was on the PC repo with me once posted that she was a little unnerved by the people that approached her on a cruise acting as if they knew her...since they had been lurking they felt that they did, but since they didn't post she felt that they were complete strangers. So as I read this while I was lurking:rolleyes1 I decided to get up the nerve to post:confused3 I was very glad that I did as I had a lot of fun with the people on that cruise:goodvibes
There's no obligation to hang out with anyone on the cruise but it is nice to bump into folks and say "hi". I had some very nice chats during that cruise:cloud9:

I have had that a lot people coming up and saying are you Andrew of the UK, in fact in 2008 in Disneyland USA, pre Panama cruise, I understand there was a guy who looked British and people had been approaching him.

One Disser who sort of knew me, went up to him, and as they did he snapped '' No I am not Andrew of the UK, but I am sure he has a lot of friends;;.

Looking at thread views, you can see there are far higher lurkers than posters. In some ways I can understand as it opens you up to PM's and enquires, I like helping, but some have used me as their personal concierge!!

Now you shouldn't do this but why not PM that Tag Fairy!!!! ( Tag Fairy ; ) tell her I never made it to Tortola!!!

Hello everyone. Sorry we haven't posted in a while but things have been kind of hectic around here. Have started looking at port adventures. We can book on 4/4. Sarah came up with a great idea at Christmas. She gave us a gift certificate for a wine tasting from countries we would be visting. We did Germany last weekend. I bought a couple of books on London today. We sent in for the Lion King show in London.

Other than Denmark we are planning on sticking with the partial day city tours so that we have partial days to explore on our own and experience the culture. Denmark we are looking at doing the countryside castle tour. Don't know the exact tours we are thinking of yet - still waiting on everyone to finish reading through them all and ranking their personal preferences. Not sure what the rest of the family is planning for Berlin but DW, DD and I are probably just going to do the Steam Train and explore the port city area rather than try to do the frantic trip into Berlin.

The big thing we are trying to figure out is when to take our 6 year old off for the tours and when to just let her stay in the kids club. We ARE going to splurge and take her to the Royal Ball at St. Catherine's Palace. DD gets motion sick and we pushed her past her limit on the Med cruise with the tours so we are trying to be careful this time around so she doesn't get sick all over grandma again on a bus. Thankfully the boat doesn't bother her at all.

Woke up this morning to the house being 50 degress from the heater going out overnight. That was fun. Thankfully they were able to get it fixed within a couple of hours.

For a family with young kids half day tours are logical, and yes this and 'Med' cruises are more an endurance test, and sightseeing, and far less the relaxing cruise holiday. Kids bounce back quickly, the good schedule is that there are sea days in between, so for Berlin there is crash out time the next day.

The royal ball will be a once in a lifetime event, she will remember so go for it.

My kids were 7 and 11 in the Med they did 5 private tours, in 7 ports and DCL tours in the other, all long day ones and apart from a lay in on a sea day they were fine and really got a lot of education out of it.

I will have

OSLO Its either full day or half day.
COPENHAGEN Half day, can extend ourself DYI
BERLIN Full day.
Rest day
ST PETES Half day/ Full day.
TALLINN Half day or full day
STOCKHOLM Full day
Sea days for rest.

Did I read where the "Ball" in St P is at 5:15pm ?

That will make it difficult to get back from a tour in time to grab a bite before having to leave for Catherine's Palace.

This our itinerary :

OSLO : DIY w/ Oslo card , Viking, Fram , Kon Tiki Museums, lunch on ship ,
Nobel Peace Museum

COPENHAGEN : DIY w/ CPH card ; Canal Boats, Tivoli, lunch at Hard Rock,
Rosenborg Palace

WARNEMUNDE : Private Van, if available, OR Berlin on Your Own through
Disney

ST PETERSBURG : Day 1, Shopping Tour, Ball at Catherine's Palace
Day 2, Private Tour w/ Anastasia w/ our son's family

TALLIN : DIY, Just wander around old town, sightsee & shop. LOVE
this charming town.

STOCKHOLM : DIY, VASA Museum, Nordic Museum , lunch in Gamla Stan,
another place to fall in love with !

LOVE HAVING 2 DAYS AT SEA.....heavenly !!

Fortunately , we were in the Baltic 2 years ago, so St Petersburg touring were easy decisions. Just having 1 1/2 days makes it difficult to choose
If this were my 1st time there this is what I'd see ( IMHO )
Peterhof, palace & fountains, St Issacs , not sure about The Hermitage .It's very time consuming. Glad I went there, but would never choose it over Peterhof. The subway ride w/ the local experience and the unusual artwork ( not your NYC sub !! ) also Peter and Paul Fortress church where all the Czars are buried. We also went to the Yusapov Palace where Rasputin was murdered. They have these mock scenes with all the characters and they take you to the basement where the crime was committed. Pretty cool!

I'm not going to let DD read your post saying that Rasputin was murdered in Yusopov's Palace, since he was only poisoned there and was found under the ice in the river, so he actually drowned. The drowning was after he was taken out into the courtyard and shot. She will tell you the entire story and what she learned was the same thing that our guide told us.

My DS16 got braces yesterday:guilty:
His pediatric dentist really dropped the ball as apparently he should have had these 2-4 years ago:rolleyes1
So from here on in he goes to my dentist.

Anyone with braces experience have any advice:confused3

He is complaining most about these little white blocks they attached behind his front lower teeth to take care of his overbite. Says they make it impossible for his molars to meet and thus he can't eat anything:rolleyes:

He has been managing though with soft food...

Anyone's kid have this:confused3

Sorry he's having such a rough time of it. :sad1: My DS had braces too, but not spacers...so I can't help you there. Only advice I can give is to use that wax if he finds his mouth getting rubbed raw and keep meds on hand for the occasional soreness.

Our dentist wanted to do surgery because DS's teeth were still coming in and weren't moving fast enough. We decided that poor dentist was just going to have to learn patience. ;) Good Luck with the other dentist.

The boy is getting surgery too:sad2:
It is pretty gross what they are doing so I'll spare everyone the details:rolleyes1

My DS said he tried putting on the wax but it hurt just trying to put it on.

He seems to have no trouble playing his X-box though:laughing:

We had good experiences with the pediatric dentist we used which is why we left him there so long. Just very disappointed that she overlooked this problem with his teeth:sad2: The orthodontist said he knows her by reputation and that she is normally very good...she just screwed up big time with my DS:headache:

He of course is lamenting the loss of laffy taffy and gummy worms for 2 years:laughing:

I told him last week he should make sure he got his fill of the gummy candy:rolleyes:

Three kids, three sets of braces. Three different sets of complaints and problems.
Every time the dentist tightens or tweeks they could have pain for a day or two and they would need to eat soft. After that they could eat normal again until the next visit. :)

Quick Hi to all.

Braces are not fun. Both my kids had them. Keep tylenol on hand at first to relieve some of the discomfort. Not a lot else to do.

Getting ready for our trip to WDW next Sat. DH has to come back and forth back to NY for a few days in between so I'll be down there by myself for a few days.

Happy weekend!

First Baltic cruise, 120 dayers and Suites will book next week, i have asked them to post port shore trip times on the main planning thread as they know them.

I asked the excursions desk via email, and I was told the Royal Ball excursion is at 5:15 on the 24th. But then when I asked if it included dinner (a 4.5 hour excursion at 5:15 ought to have some food, I think!), I got the reply that no, there is no food, and you need to eat on the ship before 6:15 when the excursion is. So I don't know if it's 5:15 or 6:15. I really wanted to do it with my niece and DD, but I think we are going to skip it since it wouldn't really be possible to see much that day if we don't get off the ship until 12:30 and then had to be back on board, get dressed up, and eat before 5:15. I wish it were the second evening in St. Petersburg. Oh well. Fortunately, I hadn't mentioned it to the girls yet. I think we will have plenty to do there as it is. I've wanted to go to the Hermitage since taking art history in college, so I am looking forward to that as well as to Peterhof, a canal boat tour, etc.

There are a few that have a warning saying you will miss dinner and you must eat before at the snack places on Deck 9, another example is the evening at the Ballet. They will have some logistical issues, they might only we worked out when the first Baltic cruise takes place.

IE Berlin and St Petes, there will be many people coming in and missing at least early dinner, maybe late for the late sitting. Will they try to accommodate?

I know for Rome they had 7pm and 9pm dinner, but you couldn't have to much later than that, and then you have to consider the people who are onboard and for example stay local, in Rostock, and do not go to Berlin.

I think they will review who has booked what and plan on that, but people going DYI, and Private tours , or late cancellations will effect those statistics.-An example of how things are monitored, was in August 2009, when 1,200 people were still on the Magic at 12 noon in Cozumel, we had switched routes, and many didn't book anything, they called on extra servers expecting a surge in the restaurants.

Whilst we shouldn't be affected by our trip choices, I hope there is not another Cartagena eating problem - as in all the half day tours arrived together when the only places serving were deck 9 - queues around the Mickey pool, no sandwiches etc. & John (the Scottish head waiter) serving up at Pluto's dog house as though it was the first site of food after a long famine!

A lot depends on the forward thinking of the Restaurant managers, some are very good others, not so good. in 2009 they were on the ball in Cozumel with the anticipated demand, but yes they dropped the ball in Cartagena, funny they did get Acapulco right, but that was hard to get wrong with a port departure time of 1pm, staring you in the face.

The night of Berlin and both St Petes nights will have logistical issues, even people book a spread of trips some day some night, some local some long, it should work. They need Topsiders open, for those nights on longer hours say 7pm to 11pm.

QUESTION?

Working out with the schedule of dinners, that I posted a few weeks back, what does everyone think would be the best night for Palo dinner??

I am working on the assumption that I am on PLA.

Night 1. Parrot Cay Let the Magic begin (Dover)

Night 2. Lumiere's Prince and Princess- Formal (Sea)

Night 3, Animator's Palate Rotational dining (Oslo)

Night 4 Parrot Cay Rotational dining (Copenhagen)

Night 5. Lumiere's Rotational dining (Berlin) will be late.

Night 6. Animator's Palate Villians- Semi Formal (Sea)

Night 7 Parrot Cay Are still listed as pending.(St Petes)

Night 8. Lumiere's Are still listed as pending. (St Petes)

Night 9. Animator's Palate Pirates (Tallinn)

Night 10. Parrot Cay Flavors of Scandinavia (Stockholm)

Night 11. Lumiere's Captains Gala- Semi Formal (Sea)

Night 12. Animator's Palate Till We Meet Again (Sea)

Breakfast Animator's Palate (Dover)

Berlin not back to 8.30pm so will miss normal dinner, have a light meal Pizza etc on the train.

St Petes. Not back to at least 7.30pm, each night, may miss dinner.

Options; May book Palo dinner for one of the nights I am late back say 9.00pm?-At least I have a meal if I miss 'main' dinner, kids can have room service?

Don't want to miss Villains

This past storm was classified as a nor'easter for us. We ended up with about 22-24 inches of snow and then the wind caused 3-4 foot drifts. Then with the next 2 storms they are saying 4-8 more inches of snow. :headache:
The weirdest part is that there are mountains a couple hours from us and they are desparate for the snow, they ended up with about 6 inches from this storm since it was a coastal storm.
We've had more snow this winter than the last 4 or 5 put together and I'm not happy about it. There's a reason I don't live in the snowbelt, but rather the mid-atlantic region.

Well;

Good news.

They have three Baltic cruises before us to iron out the issues.
On the Panama ones, issues on the WB were generally sorted out for the EB, such as poor shore trips in Acapulco, but Cartagena was only on the EB, so whilst the port was ok, the food service was poor.

St Petersburg should be better as you have to 'book' something, either DCL or private, but as we get in at 12.30pm, you can see early lunch getting 'hit', book Brunch!!!, and people not getting back for main dinner as they have a lot to fit in and its light.

Bad News

DCL track record on this is poor.
Berlin night, circa 1,000 people getting off a train at Dinner time!!!!
Plus coaches, yes some will stay local.
But a bottleneck there.

This is the most snow we've had in our area (Fairfax, VA) since we moved here (1994). DH says close to 3 feet.

Now back in NY (especially Rochester, NY) getting this much snow was not that unusual.
In 4 years at University of Rochester they only closed the school due to snow once. They had fantastic snow removal in that area. But very weird weather. I remember freezing in September and 80s in March and snow in May:laughing:

I like Palo on a sea day as I don't like to eat a full dinner late. So far never left Palo with anything less than a full dinner;)
Of course then I won't book a Palo brunch the same day as a Palo dinner either-too much food in one day.

So you might not want a Palo dinner the night before a Palo brunch either?
Our servers have always brought out extra food at Palo so it is not just us over-ordering:rolleyes1
We are hoping for Palo dinner the night of the 19th as it will be our 18th wedding anniversary:cloud9:

Yes; I will not book Brunch/Tea/Dinner, on the same day, its far too much.

Brunch is quite easy really it will be one of the four sea days, so Dinner will not clash.

I like to have a full Dinner at Palo, so do not like to leave it too late, ie time to go down, before bed.

Want to avoid any of the special meals, ie Villains.

Robert had an Idea of leaving Oslo, but I think that's not going to work, we leave at 4.30pm, and go down the Fjord, takes 60>90 mins so even getting 6pm Palo we would miss it.

19th will be nice for you.

Now this is the bit that appears to change a lot. So I might not give a normally accurate answer.

If reservations are under one booking only, YES, if they are linked, NO. All have to be paid in full.

If not, book for two, and when you get onboard ask them to add to make 4.

Hello everyone!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!! (And puppy bowl which we are currently enjoying quite a bit. Too Cute!)

Okay, lots of things to comment on for today's postings!

Who is all going to WDW this week? I leave on Wed and DD16 comes down with her cheer squad on Thursday. She is there for High School Cheerleading Nationals! I am staying at the Swan (never stayed there before). I really hope for nice weather too! Here in Wisconsin, we have had our share of snow and cold.

Next, for Palo, we try to get it for a regular rotational dinner evening. Preferably Parrot Cay, but we have no way of knowing what night that would be for us. Last time on the Panama Canal cruise, the kids went to dinner without us while we are at Palo! The kids had fun without us!

Which brings me to another question, our oldest son just turned 18, so should we bring him with us? He is a vegetarian, any thoughts?

Laurie, we are also celebrating our anniversary on this cruise, it will be our anniversary on the 23rd. (and my 40th birthday on the 26th!)

I am so excited.

Sorry I haven't posted more, I read the posts at least once per day, but with
planning to get 16 girls and 2 coaches to WDW, my son's college choice finalized and year end reviews completed at the office etc, I have been CRAZY busy! Plus I have already spent 2 weeks traveling for work. UGH!

Enjoy the game (and commercials) everyone!

My DS16 is dying to go to Palo but he eats pretty much anything:laughing:
I'm sure there is a Palo menu on the main board that you can show your son to see if he is interested.

So cool you are celebrating your anniversary too:thumbsup2
Are you going to Palo that night?

And 40th birthday:cool1::thumbsup2 (otherwise known as the new 30:rolleyes1)

Not too many posting at this time so you are in good company. Stop in and post now and then to let us know how you are doing:thumbsup2

Been getting things organized in case we don't end up being able to come back on Wed., had to find a place for her to stay Wed. so she doesn't drive the neighbors crazy.
I heard 4-8 inches of snow for Tues/Wed and DH heard 15-18 inches so who knows. But they say we will be getting something.

Quick hi to all.

What's this about mid week snow, Barb? I haven't heard the weather. I just hope it will be clear when we fly to WDW on Sat. and when DH flies back and forth to NY and MCO during the next week. Life is never dull.

Also for Rome they did an open seating kind of thing even in the main dining rooms. We got back about 20 minutes after early seating for dinner had started and they asked us if we wanted to just head on into the dining room we were scheduled for in our shorts even though we normally had late dinner. They were just seating people as they came in the general area of their servers and the servers did a nice job of catching their people and taking care of them. They very well might do that type of thing for Berlin and St. Petes.

You know I was so spoiled on my last big cruise. The 2008 PC repo threads were full of very chatty planners...I often had a hard time keeping up with them:rotfl:
I tend toward shy as well (more so in person than on the internet).

I was hoping to lure some folks out of lurkdom.

Actually, I'm quite relieved this is slower than the PC - I can at least keep up which I wouldn't be able to do with my current workload in we moved at that pace. I also feel (rightly or wrongly), I've got to "know" more people - there were so many on the PC I struggled!

Spent a bit of time planning over the week-end have a couple of questions:
1) Do DCL St P tours include the photo pass to take pictures at the the attractions?

2) Does anyone fancy joining us on the cycle/walk in Tallinn? I'm looking at www.cityboke.ee which is uncannily similar to the DCL trip without the age restriction

Interesting, at Rome on our Med cruise they had 7pm and 9pm dinner, they did accomodate people up to 7.30pm on main, still they had a long queue for late at 9pm.

Do agree, its nice for a thread to go at an even pace, soe like the PC repo go silly and I gave up following it, so you missed '' interesting '' posts.

Never liked pirate posts due ot that, as unless you are there at the time you have a lot of nothing to read through...

I just knew that we got back at about 7:25 and had late dinner seating but they asked us if we would mind going on into our scheduled dining room so that there would be more room for those coming in later. Hopefully they will do something similar.

I see, maybe for the people staying in Warmunde, going to Rostock etc, they will offer an early dinner to try to free up space for late.

We got back very quickly from Rome on our private tour, so was in on time,

I would guess that the photo pass in St P is extra on the DCL tours as well:confused3 Not everyone takes pics so I imagine you would get people complaining if they were paying for it and not using it:confused3

Now is that fee for photos inside the buildings in St P per camera per person? What would happen if one person had 2 cameras? They would be charged for both right?

As for Tallinn..I promised my kids the segway. I haven't heard back yet from the company though so not sure if I can book that in advance or not. I figure after the long drive for Berlin I kind of owe them something they want.

It is much easier than it looks:cool1:

When we did them in Nassau they pulled the grandma from our group to "train" first. Watching her master it in a few minutes gave us all hope:laughing: Gotta post the video my DH took. The look on his face is priceless:lmao:

So the other day my daughter is wearing a Disney shirt and someone asked her if she had been to Disney recently. Her reponse was not in a really really long time. We went last June for a week at the parks and a week cruise. I worry that she is getting spoiled on frequency of Disney trips since last June to this cruise will be the longest she has ever gone without doing a Disney vacation of some kind.

Granted that won't stop me from taking her on Disney trips :)

They close schools in VA alot more often than we are used to (coming from NY). They have gotten better about snow removal though. Back in 1996 it took them several days to plow our neighborhood-this time they plowed right away and several times.

:laughing:Yeah well "a really long time" can be very subjective;)
I would say the kids in general are pretty spoiled these days compared to when we were kids...but then so were we compared to our parents so I guess that is usually the way it works out.

EXCITING UPDATE!

I did some homework before I left home and went to the airport with a plan. Yes, the plan included crying if needed! :rotfl: Anyway, I found the last ticket available on a flight to Tampa. Couldn't get a rental car, every single place was sold out! Unbelieveable! So, my assistant found a car service to pick me up and take me right to the Swan. Only cost me a total of about $600 and took 10 hours! So, I am here at WDW, the sky is sunny and blue and I am thrilled! Thanks for the good thoughts everyone! :)

For those of you who may be interested, I've had the following from Ellissa:
We will have a tour at 1130am available to you. There will be a
vegetarian alternative available for the Taste of Sweden option,
however I must apologise as the Restaurant are really taking their
time getting back to us as to what this will be!

Another thing that is taking more time than expected is our NEW
FABULOUS SUPER DUPER website (www.gallivantproductions.com) which enables you to book directly, or at
least to see what tours are available on what days. Monday Feb 15th
is the launch date (fingers crossed). Family bookings/group bookings
need to be emailed through to us so we can send a paypal invoice (so
you get the child discount).

I hope this answers your questions for now. When you are ready to
book send me an email and I will book you in and send an invoice. If
you are part of a bigger group of 10 or more our group rate is SEK 100
per adult, SEK 70 per child.

We look forward to plundering with you this summer!

At least it's pretty.
We got it bad too.
We'll be talking about this storm for years.

So what's on your wish list?

Right now our wish list includes:

St. Petersburg (I realize depeding on times there may be conflicts and we might have to drop one or two):

Peterof Parks, Fountain and Train
Evening Canal Boat Tour

Catherine's Place and Hermitage
A Night of Russian Balet

Tallin
Old Town, Fishing and Mini Zoo (kids picked this one)

Copenhagen
Either Panoramic Copenhagen and Carlsberg Brewery or
Trivoli (MIL wants to do that one)

Berlin
Sights and Sounds of Berlin

Oslo
Either Glassworks and Viking Ship or
if an old high school friend that is a ship captain in Oslo is in town going around with him and a city pass

Stockholm
Stockholm, Vasa and Royal Armory

Depending on trip reports and Disfriends going on the 1st Baltic cruise reviews, we will probably adjust our plans. We just wanted to have excursions to book regardless. We are platinum members and I think our booking date is March 18, but I have to double check.

Booking should be March 20th.

A reason why I asked about USA daylight saving time was that when I can book on the 20th, we are in a funny *zone* when there is only 4 hours between East Coast USA and UK.

I think you swap your clocks on the 14th, we on the 28th, so I have to be up at 4am!!!!

Hi all, we are back from our 'quick' trip to FL. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: We were supposed to fly back Wed. afternoon and finally got a flight out this morning. We were glad for the extra couple of play days at Epcot, but frustrated since we had to arrange for a place for DD to stay, she ended up at the neighbors and my cousin's. I'm glad she and my cousin came over yesterday and shoveled half the driveway so there wasn't so much to be done when we got home. All this white stuff is nasty and they are calling for more of it Monday night. :sad2: :scared: :sad1: :headache:

FL wasn't all that warm, but it was still better than the white stuff. Heard today it poured all day and was only 44 degrees. :confused3

Yes, I just got back to my room here at the Swan. My legs and feet and hands are FROZEN, and still wet. It was a torrential downpour most of the day!

BUT, the fire barge during Illuminations warmed me up! :) I certainly can't complain as there are about 20 inches of snow on the ground at home and its about 10 degrees!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Two reasons; 1/ Busy week at work, less time for anything else, and just worn out, 2/ I have decided to cut down my time here anyway, Normally now follow the pattern of weekends only and very limited Monday to Friday.

As the spring comes I do want to get outside a lot more, so something has to give.

Plan will be to cut down towards the cruise, then, as I do not have a Disney cruise in 2011, to have a long break!!!

I however got pulled in, with a high volume of PM's during the week, with various questions, so if I do not post, people try to ask another way!!

NCL is not on sale in the UK for 2011, as yet,

Words of warning!!!!!!!!!!!

On one of the previous Baltic cruises disembarkation will not take place on the last morning until *10.30am*, and DCL says do not book flights before 4pm.

The first cruise is also delayed for disembarkation.

All due to tidal conditions at Dover.

They should have gone to Harwich!!!

Due to tidal issues, debarkation in Dover on July 6th (for the June 24th voyage) will not begin until 10:30am. It is recommended that your flight departure time should be no earlier than 4:00pm.

Wanted to confirm something with you guys . Our son & his family are going on this Baltic cruise. They have booked a room at the Park Plaza (Westminister Bridge) and would like to purchase transfers through DCL.
Is that possible ? Will they be able to check in for the cruise at the hotel?
Will their luggage be taken care of ?

We booked the Renaissance Chancery on our own (lots cheaper) but are using DCL transportation to get to Dover. I don't know for sure, but I am guessing that they will handle luggage using the traditional luggage tags, but you check in at the port.

Just make sure the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge is one of their prestay hotels.

From past experience, LA and Barcelona you will check in at port. Not the hotel, but you will have a DCL desk to answer questions.

YOu still might want to pack some warmer clothes for her, especially after the winds and such that have been around the last few days. It's when the sun goes down that the temps really drop.

We have decided we're not going for the Taste of Sweden, but will be doing the tour. Not sure what else (if anything we'll do)

I wanted to PM my information...but the nice silly rule of having a minimum of 10 posts kinda defeated my best attempts...so...

Disname: Nightmarestang - Leon (29...contrary to what Caven 553 thinks, I will not be quite that many decades old!)
DW: Laura (25)
We live in Lincoln, NE and will be traveling with her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece. This will be Laura's and my 5th/6th (doing the Western Europe following this cruise) Disney cruises. Laura graduates in May (yay!). We both work for Information Analytics. She works in billing and soon to be in the main office and I work as a Website Designer and Programmer. Also, if anyone is looking for a weight lifting partner for the cruise, let me know (I lift daily and do semi-pro football).

My DH and DS are very adventurous when it comes to food...my DD and I less so...much less:rolleyes1 So we'll decide when they reveal the menu.
I thought I read somewhere the changing of the guards in Stockholm was around noon:confused3 So I figured if we were meeting at 11:30 that getting a spot to watch the changing of the guards was not likely. I'm much more relaxed with regard to this port so just want to have fun and not stress over seeing everything (this tour is ideal-lots of fun and few decisions:cloud9:).

How many beanies does your DD have now? Does she just collect bears from Hard Rock cafes or does she include other beanies from other places as well?

How old is your DD Robert?
My sis wants me to fly my kids over to CA to visit her but I was nervous about sending my DD alone (she was barely 12 at the time). I'll be better able to handle it if she goes with her brother (3 and 1/2 years older).
