Hi everyone,:)

We are off the DLP for our 1st trip on the 2nd November for our twin girls 3rd birthday. We are staying 3 nights in the DLH in the castle club. We have the premium meal plan option. All done to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible. First trip out of England as a family of 4 and I don't want it to be our last.

I haven't booked the meals yet which is where I need help. I thought if I posted what I have in mind you lovely people could give tips/advice.

Day 1 we have lunch on the euro star, so I'm thinking evening meal Inventions (easy as we're staying there) but do they have characters? Any other ideas?

Day 2 We have a Birthday tea booked so we would just need lunch. I did think the one where the princess are but do they do lunch? or would princess and birthday tea in one day be too much!! Is there anywhere where you can eat and watch the parade? Ideas welcome please.

Day 3 no idea or princess if not done day 2 (evening meal!) Other ideas welcome.

Day 4 potter about before catching train.

We would also like to see the fireworks can't remember what nights they are on now but is there a good place to eat to watch them?

Any other good restaurants for toddlers.

Anything else you think the children would like, anything not to miss?

Does anyone know if you get characters in the castle club breakfast room?

Having just typed it out I now know I need to do some fine tuning lol not as much planned as I had in my head.

Any other ideas would be more than welcome, we went to WDW in 2001 and I loved it, so I am getting really excited and can't wait to see my girls little faces.

I look forward to some expert advice.

Thank you,

Caroline

Hey there,:)

I haven't done the meal option thing but I no a bit about the restraunts.

Here is a great site which will give you an idea of the food offered in each place....

http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/ (please note some of the menus may have changed)

or you can see some menus at..
http://www.********************/dlp/menus/village.html

Inventions does have characters as far as I am aware.

The princess meal is a set menu so you don't have much variety and it does only appeal to some people (you can check out the menu on the sites above), I think it would be too much with the birthday tea booked in one day.

There are many places to get lunch that you don't have to book in advance in each park.

I also recommend cafe Mickey for character interaction, they do breakfast lunch and dinner character meals! It is in the Disney villiage!
For a great 50's diner experience with the best burgers ever try annettes diner - highly recommended. It is in the Disney villiage!

The only restraunt the parade can be watched from is Walt's which is in main street usa and should be reserved in advance. However if you do not get the window seat in the correct room (a few different rooms) then you will not see it from your table I'm afraid.

There are no fireworks in the parks on the dates you are going, but perhaps you mean the bonfire night at disney villiage?? If you choose to sit outside to watch them do wrap up warm as it can be very cold! If you want to sit inside to watch them then Cafe Mickey would be the best place and preferably being seated up stairs as it is right beside lake disney:goodvibes

Fantasyland in Disneyland Park is the best place for rides with very young children - such as Dumbo, it's a small world, the tea cups, pinocchio, alice's labryth. I would say that peter pan and snow white are dark rides and may scare very young children. Also Buzz lightyear lazzer blast in discoveryland is popular with small children and adults too hehe!

In the disney studios park there are more rides that young children can go on such as Cars rally, aladdins magic carpets, animagique (show), art of disney (show), stitch live and others. DO note that the finding nemo ride Crush coast is a roller coaster as many people go on it thinking it is an innocent ride for young kids and don't realise what it does lol!

I would say a must do for young children is playhouse disney in the studios, a show with characters from disney channels - mickey mouse clubhouse, little einsteins, my friends tigger and pooh and handy manny!:thumbsup2

Throughout the 2 parks there are meet and greet opportunities with characters - you will get a programme at check-in if you are staying or they can be picked up along with park guides after you enter the parks, or at city hall in disneyland park - these will tell you meet and greet times, show times, parade times etc!

Sorry I haven't stayed in the castle club so I don't know about character breakfast there.

If you have been to WDW then I think you will have no problem with DLP. It's a much smaller park but well detailed and has a great charm about it! I am sure you wil have a brilliant time! I hope I was of some help:yay:

Inventions is a full character dinner buffet, and is a really good way to use your premium vouchers :goodvibes

Day 2 We have a Birthday tea booked so we would just need lunch. I did think the one where the princess are but do they do lunch? or would princess and birthday tea in one day be too much!! Is there anywhere where you can eat and watch the parade? Ideas welcome please.
What time is your birthday tea booked for? I also think that doing the Princess meal and the birthday tea in one day would be too much (and the birthday tea is only sweet cakes, pastries etc, no savouries).

Day 3 no idea or princess if not done day 2 (evening meal!) Other ideas welcome.
The parks are not open late midweek this week, so you won't be able to do the Princess meal as dinner, only lunch.

Day 4 potter about before catching train.

We would also like to see the fireworks can't remember what nights they are on now but is there a good place to eat to watch them?

Any other good restaurants for toddlers.
Cafe Mickey is the best for little ones - lunchtime is quiet, and you still get all the character interaction .

Anything else you think the children would like, anything not to miss?

Hope this helps, I agree with Stitch's Girl on what little ones would like to see/do also. And wrap up warm :)!!

Personally, if it were me I would scrap the birthday tea (which is not a 'proper' meal just sweet stuff and won't really replace a meal for the adults at least) and instead have a birthday cake at Auberge. The princess meal will be a far better birthday present for your girls (in my opinion) than the birthday tea where they will likely see most of the same characters they saw the night before at Inventions. It is also an excellent use of a Premium voucher.

Alternatively, because I can't remember if you take the whole cake away at Auberge or not and you certainly won't want to eat it after your gorgeous desserts, you could book Cafe Mickey for the evening and just have something light there with a birthday cake - at least it will be a lot later than the tea party.

I've not had the birthday tea, but would recommend Cafe Mickey for great character interaction, especially if you were to have an earlyish lunch (12.30ish) when it's still fairly quiet! My little girl loved it and she was just three when we went!

Thank you all so much, this is a great help. Now I just need to get planning.

A special thank you to stitch's girl for taking the time to reply with such detail, the girls will love the playhouse disney show, I hadn't even thought about the studio park, to busy thinking about food!

Thanks again guys, I can't wait. :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hi there, Inventions was wonderful for us (last week) lots of charachters and lovely food/atmostphere.

Cafe Mickey is a must too !

We didn't do Auberge as the kids menu not very appealing and our girls are tom boys, they didn't have any pics taken with princesses or meet any, they just weren't interested.

However if your children are princess fans, I have heard Auberge is fantastic for interaction, so add it to your list !

Hi Caroline

I've just seen your post. As it happens I have a section on my website that's dedicated to the Disneyland Hotel and it's Castle Club. I created the section because I also found it difficult to find info on the Castle Club when we first booked.

The section should be fairly easy to navigate. There's the main page / overview (http://www.haighgannon.com/disney_info/disneyland_hotel.html). There's a page on the Castle Club Lounge (http://www.haighgannon.com/disney_info/castle_club_lounge.html) and also a video tour (http://www.haighgannon.com/videos/castle_club_video_tour.html) of the hotel and Castle Club which I shot last summer.

And I almost forgot... there's a page all about character dining (http://www.haighgannon.com/disney_info/dlh_restaurants.html) in the hotel.

There's other stuff too like a photo gallery of the hotel, a floor plan of the Castle Club and so on.

I hope this all helps but please do let me know if there's anything you need to know.

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for that.:surfweb: Your website is great, we booked the castle club after seeing reviews on trip adviser (before I found this site) but like you said we never did find much information about it anywhere. So it's really helpful to know what to expect. The pictures are lovely. Thanks again if I have any questions I'll be back!

The whole place looks so magical and I know at my girls will love it.

I've added cafe mickey to my list so just some fine tuning to do now.

I've really been pushing the princesses so I'd be shot down in flames if we missed them, do they do meet and greets in the park or do you have to have a meal?

We've already booked and paid for the birthday tea, (got carried away when booking, "yes we'll have everything going please"!) any ideas where and what time it is?? Also could we cancel and get refunded??

Last thing is there a map of the resort anywhere?

Thanks again:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We stayed Castle Club with 2yr old last week. Some lovely character interaction in the loumge at breakfast, but also downstairs outside Inventions was very quiet and meant we could see lots in short time, rather than waiting for them to come up.

And for best character interaction at other meals, try to eat early. We ate at 12/12.30 at Cafe Mickey and for a while had the restaurant and the characters pretty much to ourselves.

Thank you very much for your kind words about my site and I'm glad it was of some use.

There's an interactive map of DLP here (http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/interactive-map.xhtml).

I hope this helps.
