This is Thread #29 of the BOB threads.

Welcome to the "I'm with B.O.B., are you?" Cruise Thread. This cruise has been dubbed the BOB cruise because there are so many cruisers who are celebrating something on board and because of this, it was originally called Bash On the Boat which eventually got shortened to B.O.B. There actually is no one named Bob on this cruise (our KK1 Bob is sadly not joining us this time) but I'm sure all the non-bobers on this cruise would love to be with Bob too :goodvibes

If you're new to our group, you're not alone. Several of us have sailed together before (on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise - a.k.a. Konked Kruisers) and several more are new. To indicate the ones new to the group, we have put an * infront of their DIS name.

The following is the same as the other first posts. For those of you new to our DIS Meet thread - WELCOME. There is plenty of good info in this post.

As usual, I'll be back here to update this post periodically. I will try to keep important information up here for all to reference as well as for all our new friends who come to cruise with us. If something of importance comes up, PM me and I will add the link.

We have dubbed this cruise "The Bash on the Boat" because so many people are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries on this cruise. You will also see "KK2" in the title. As you will read, many of us just sailed together on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise. So, with many of us returning here, we are dubbing this KK2. For those of you who didn't sail with us, please don't feel that you are not part of the group. We are a very open and welcoming/friendly bunch. We had such a great cruise last time, but feel it will be even better this time. Come along and enjoy the fun. Here are links to posts that we found important through this and the previous threads.

TRACKING YOUR DOCS
About 2 weeks before your cruise follow this UPS link.
http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/reference?loc=en_US

In the shipping reference put your cruise confirmation #. In the zip code put your zip or if you used a travel agent put their zip.

This will track your documents. It will give you up to date delivery information. If you used a travel agent it will be sent to them and they will have to get it to you. Most of the stuff that is in the pack you can do online ahead of time now.

In case anyone is wondering what the FO game we play here on the B.O.B. cruise meets thread, here is the explanation:
FO is a game (for lack of a better description) that was started on the Konked Kruiser thread that some of us belonged to for the October 07 cruise. The term FO was started by afeg.

Anyway, the game in a nutshell....if you post, and your post is the beginning of a page, then you try to get the second post on the page also. It means you have started a "Fresh One".

Now, this isn't always as easy as it seems - if there are multiple posters on at the same time, and someone else gets the second post, you don't get to "claim the FO". The 40 second rule between postings comes into play.

And finally here are two very handy links for your cruise...

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Tips and Tricks

Remember, you can gain entry to MK as early as 4pm on the day you are attending MNSSHP. Use the turnstyles to the very right-hand side
and don't forget to get your wristbands and TOT bags when you enter!

Here's some tips for those of you who have never gone....

-Get there as early as 4pm, use the entrance at the very far right. Make sure they give you your wrist band and trick-or-treat bag!

-Between 5pm and 7pm is the best time to do the rides as most people are leaving the park!

-If you think you will be there until the end of the party, do the second parade as it is less busy. During the first parade, do the rides as everyone is at the parade.

-If you are watching the first parade, make sure you claim your spot about an hour before the parade!

-Watch the fireworks near the hub/tommorowland entrance to get a good view of the witch flying down from the castle! (The witch takes Tink's place during mnsshp)

-Check out the storefront windows along Main Street, they are decorated for Halloween!

-Make sure to ride Haunted Mansion, it is a totally different atmosphere there during the party.

-You can only buy the mnnshp merchandise (pins, t-shirts, music) during mnsshp party hours, so if you want something party specific, check the stores after 7pm.

-If you want to see characters, there's tons in Tomorrowland (near Carousel of Progress usually) and Fantasyland! Some are only ever seen during the party!

-Don't waste your time getting your fortune told, it's cheesy and the lines can take forever!

-If you want lots of candy, stop by the treat stations near the end of the night, they usually give out handfulls then!

-Make sure to enjoy the atmosphere on Main Street USA and the entrance area, especially if you got there at 4pm when the Halloween decorations weren't all up!

We're getting SOOO close! I don't know, I've been having second thoughts on the Parasailing at CC. I did it in 2008 and I was EXTREMELY scared (I don't know how to swim, so I have a big fear of open water:rolleyes1) but I did over come the fear and anxiety; once I was airborne and actually enjoyed it. But now, as we're getting close, I'm second thinking my excursion - I'm wimping out! :confused3 Anyone else going?

Good morning from a wet and grey England:sad2:

No walking for me this morning.:sad2:

Busy day yesterday, got Ellis to an extra karate class to practice his katas. His instructor isnt going to be there on Sat for the grading so he's more nervous than usual as he's now in the advanced group and grading in with black belts etc:eek: We even forked out loads more cash last night for the instructional video:rolleyes: Geez, we're suckers... people must see us coming and just know we'll empty our wallets for junk:rotfl:

Oh well, hopefully he'll be a purple belt this time next week.:thumbsup2

We're getting SOOO close! I don't know, I've been having second thoughts on the Parasailing at CC. I did it in 2008 and I was EXTREMELY scared (I don't know how to swim, so I have a big fear of open water:rolleyes1) but I did over come the fear and anxiety; once I was airborne and actually enjoyed it. But now, as we're getting close, I'm second thinking my excursion - I'm wimping out! :confused3 Anyone else going?

I wanted to do it but as a tandem. Rick won't do it with me.

A father walks into a restaurant with his young son..
He gives the young boy three 10p coins to play with to keep him occupied.

Suddenly, the boy starts choking, going blue in the face..
The father realizes the boy has swallowed the coins and starts slapping him on the back..

The boy coughs up 2 of the 10 p's, but keeps choking.
Looking at his son, the father is panicking, shouting for help.

A well dressed, attractive, and serious looking woman, in a blue business suit is sitting at a coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper places it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the restaurant.

Reaching the boy, the woman carefully drops his pants; takes hold of the boy's testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever so firmly..

After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the last of the 10 p's, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand.

Releasing the boy's testicles, the woman hands the coin to the father and walks back to her seat at the coffee bar without saying a word.

As soon as he is sure that his son has suffered no ill effects, the father rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying, "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you a doctor?"

'No,' the woman replied. 'I'm an accountant..'

Hawaii doesn't do it because of their location - not a big variation in daylight.

Arizone doesn't do it mostly because of the climate - an extra hour of sunlight uses more energy.

Indiana started doing DST again in 2006 but part of the state is in CDT and part in EDT.

Good morning everyone.

Today is my last day of work this week. I am taking 3 days vacation starting tomorrow. This time tomorrow I will be dealing with NYC traffic in and around Westchester.

Heather, cool pics of the Virgin plane. I am a plane junkie and enjoyed those pics. In the USA the airline JetBlue also names their planes. Most of the names have "blue" in the title. An example would be, "Blue for You", "Totally Blue" stuff like that. I am curious to see what our plane's name will be. Virgin America names their names like Virgin Atlantic as well.

I will be taking pictures of our plane too! In fact, our last ride to Florida was on Southwest and we were on one of their planes that was named. It was called "The Winning Spirit"

I also ordered from Perfect Gift....I'm having a Halloween pail made for DS. She's going to put in a few sand toys and pirate things too!

I have my pet sitter......Bob!:thumbsup2

And you should know how much he LOVES my ferret:rolleyes1

My girlfriend Judy will come every other day to give Bob a break, at least I know she'll give Rikki kisses, or she'd be a poor attention starved ferret when

Ooh, thanks for the link! :thumbsup2 Can't turn down that deal!

Queenie - our entire FAMILY is doing it!! We are so excited I can't stand it. We have to do it in Tandem with the girls since they aren't over the weight limit. I am TERRIFIED of heights, but I know it will be so much fun. I told Becca (my youngest) that it's like flying a kite - except WE are the kite!! :earboy2:

Was the book any good? I'm looking for just the right read. Even spent a long time at Borders one day last week - had some good looking ones in my hand but ended up writing down the titles & checking the library. I'd love some suggestions!

N

yes it was good, called too close to home, murder mystery, but there was a misprint and I missed about 30 pages inthe middle!!! I was crazed and it was a good part. I need to go to the store and read those from another book!!

I will bring you books I am done with, some of them are swollen from reading in the pool!!!

I'm doing my last minute second guessing our excursion plans too. Has anyone done a Sunny Liston tour? Or gone to Saphire Beach or Coki Beach? With his tours you hit the beach in the late afternoon, with Disney, beach time is in the morning. Also, with Disney, it is going to cost us $223 for Trunk Bay, and it would only be $100 to do the Sunny Liston tour which is a whole day thing and includes shopping and the beach. Any thoughts?

We are contemplating cancelling Trunk Bay as well. It just seems like a lot for the 4 of us.

We talked about it as well - so expensive for a few hours at the beach.... Going to see if there are other beach trips we may take that are cheaper...

but this may be a once in a lifetime trip and we already have it budgeted....

(I'm wishy-washy, can you tell)???

Ok, here are some pictures of Heather's Middle School Band trip to Disney in 2008.

Here they are coming down in front of the castle.

Here's one of Emily - she got picked to wave & carry a flag.

Here is a better one of Emily (she's the girl on the left).

This is the only picture of Heather that Teresa got - she's on the left also, with red hair.

And, this is what happened to Emily afterwards. She fell asleep on a light pole in the park!

I figured the chances of us getting back there are almost zero, so I may aswell see it while I have the chance. Its also rated as one of the best beaches in the world....:cloud9: - I have to go check it out for myself. Well, since I don't have a job or any money, we're not doing any excursions. So, we might spring for a beach trip.

Things are pretty tight around here these days with the building industry being hit pretty hard. Not so many people are spending money on building "cottages" these days. We still have some going so we are fortunate but we are down to 20% of what we used to do.

Sorry to hear about your job, but glad that you are still coming on the trip. I'm still back and forth about Trunk Bay, I don't want to talk others out of going and have them be disappointed :sad2:. I've been looking at the other beaches on-line and I'm thinking that they may be just as amazing of an experience for us. Do you have any thoughts as to which beach you'd like to go to?

I know! I know! I'm so stuggling with this one! I'm not a beach person at all either but both of my kids are, and our beach here is NOTHING like the beaches in St.John/St.Thomas. Tianna LOVES to snorkle and I really want her to be able to do it. Cody enjoys it in small doses. I've read that Coki Beach has good snorkling too and the fish will eat right out of your hand there. But I like the safety of going with Disney and you know that if it is Disney it is going to be the best. Ahhhhh ... what to do.

I wish I COULD do that, but they live almost 1000 miles away, so I couldn't do it right now. When my brother was in Iraq, he got a blue camel and a pink camel (guardian camels) to watch over them, so that is what they are using to show how much they've grown.

More recent family pic since we don't have one on Cass's page. I never got around to sending it to her or letting her know that we'll be celebrating Ron's birthday on the 24th and our anniversary is on the 26th

Heather, Karen, Nancy - will you be offended if I too have a Plankton??

Heck no! - the more Planky's the better:banana:

Hi, my HIPPIE generation..;)

Walt :cool1:

Hi, Big Daddy! Two years is long time coming, isn't it? Now that we're down to the wire I keep thinking why didn't I do everything to prepare for this trip before now. Real life is getting in my way of getting ready...

It looks like there is going to be quite a few 8 & 9 year old girls. I think that they will have fun together.

Ummm... this is TOTALLY me.... :scared1: (Trying to make a list and NOT make that happen... but I can see it already!)

Remember though, we did have 6 people in our travel party too. I am surprised that the kids didn't try to make one of those suitcases a "shoe case". They all brought waaaaaay toooooo many shoes. :rotfl:

I'll just blame Mike.... he's already getting credit/blame for us going to the MNSSHP!! :goodvibes

Now - since I'm not a TOTAL copycat... I think I will do Spongebob - but Heather, Karen, Nancy - will you be offended if I too have a Plankton?? (Going to let the girls choose.....)

Plankton wasn't my idea either Angie...so go right ahead! :thumbsup2

I just love that picture of Tony & Jesse.

Thanks Janice. I like that one too. My favorite one though is the one of Kristin posing nicely for that picture and Jesse clowning around. :rotfl2:

So, when is the Planky meet??? LOL!

Pete was going to pick him up, and I said, "WAIT! I have to take a picture!". He thought I was nuts, but he let me take the picture then picked DS up to take him back to the cabin. :cloud9:

Oh yes! - gotta get those special shots:thumbsup2 - those are the ones usually with the most memories:goodvibes

One of my favourite piccies of Ellis is when we were at an easter bunny event years ago.

Some woman was in a really old and battered bunny outfit trying to get him to participate... he was only about 3 or 4 and wouldnt join in and went and sulked on a bench with his arms folded:lmao: - he looks so cute with his grumpy face

That costume is my very favorite--so big and comfy!:rotfl:

Maybe I could borrow it for semi formal night? - I might need something "big and roomy" after all that food!

Well peeps, I've enjoyed our mini postathon of piccies:thumbsup2

Do you see what we can do when we try?

We're on our cruise countdown people! - this thread should be moving so quickly that your fingers hurt from all the typing!

I'm off for a while, so post some more for me to see later;).:thumbsup2
