I was thinking of again trying to write down everything I eat and have no sweets expect for weekly treat. Of course I have to start my day on the Disney boards and came upon this board. I think if I can stop eating sugary food, baked goods etc I will lose the 20 lbs I want. Somehow 25 lbs has crept onto my body in the past few years. When we go to Disney this Christmas I want to fit into my comfortable clothes. Next summer we are having a Disney cruise wedding and I want to fit into a wedding dress, shorts, bating suit etc. I am 5 ft 5 inches and weigh 161 lbs this morning.

My goals
1. have 5 days a week when I do not eat sweets
2. 4 fruits and vegetables a day
3. exercise 5 times a week (currently doing the Slim in 6 program)

Thanks for reading this far. I appreciate your support.

Are you my twin? My name is also Amy. I'm 5'5.5" (yes, I claim the half inch). I've lost 22 pounds between April and August (see my ticker). I've plateaued since then, but would like to lose 10 more. Good luck to us.

Redlight-thanks for the support. I am so happy with my dress.

It has changed from a cruise to a park wedding. We (I) picked Sea Breeze Point and then a dessert party that night. We will probably have the dessert party at Sago Cay at the GF. I am not eating dessert but I will then (and when we go to to Disney this Dec). We might have a brunch too but I am not sure if we will be done with pictures and stuff by then.

Yesterday I did have a sugary snack but it is within my goal of 1 or 2 per week. I had some fiddle faddle. The fact that I didn't have something chocolate is huge. I can't believe I went this many days with out chocolate.

I did 30 minutes on my eliptical yesterday. Also had 3 fruits/veggies.

Feeling really fat and bloated today. Could the carmel popcorn yesterday be part of the problem? No sweets as of yet today. 3 fruits/veggies so far. Really busy with paperwork for work and haven't got in any exercise yet today. Plus I just feel so bloated I don't want to bother.

I have been eating sweets the past few days. Fruits and beggy intake has been good except for today. Weekends are hard for me. Only 2 today. At least I have been getting better with my workout. Hoping to start no sweet run again tomorrow.

Doing good with the exercise this past week but the pounds aren't moving. Snacking on fruits and veggies but also some sweets. None yesterday but broke down today. Oh well, I will just keep plugging away. I have that wedding dress to fit into. Of course I need to just fit into the clothes in my closet :) Why is 20 lbs so darn hard to lose......

Still doing good with the exercise and not so good with the snacks. Fruits and veggie intake has slipped the past couple of days. I feel yucky and bloated. Next week I am starting the Game On diet "thing" with my co-workers. Maybe that will give me some motivation. I did quite well (for me) by going several days without sweets. It is just so hard.

Just finished up 40 minutes on my eliptical machine. Went to the craft fair today and didn't buy any sweets! i picked up my copy of The Game On Diet book today. I am about 1/2 way through. Some receipes I want to try. I hope that having someone check in with me every day will help. I can't see how I am going to eat 5 proteins a day considering I only like chicken.

Hi Amy
Just catching up on a few journals here.

We go to Ogunquit every year and love it.

Proteins are more than just meats. All kinds of beans and lentils are full of protein, cottage cheese, greeks yogurts, nuts, nut butters, some multi grain cereals. You will be able to find enough just don't get too many and make sure you are taking in alot of water with the extra protein.

I am right here with you on the yo-yo weight loss.I am having trouble partly because my mom keeps bringing over apple pie- can't say no to my mom or apple pie.

I have 30 days now to get this weight moving- we can do this!

Linda,

Thanks so much for your post. It is nice to have encouragement.

I just splurged and signed up for 4 weeks of Jenny Craig. I think having the meals already done will be just what I need. I think the planned meals plus the Game On will help carry me through the next 4 weeks. Just not sure how I will deal with my DBF meals. The days he is home he can fend for himself. Other days he works 12 hour shifts and drives 2 hours round trip so I want to cook on those days. He was nice enough to move so I could be closer to work and thus he drives a lot more.

Plus even though Jenny Craig costs it is cheaper then buying food and new clothes which is the point I am getting at. I just hope it tastes good. Hope the 20- 25 lbs will now come off. Oh, and I am getting my thyroid rechecked Fri.

Received my first Jenny Craig shipment today. The supper tasted better then I expected. Actually much better. I also made the free soup. Since I like veggies it is no problem eating it.

Today I showed someone a picture of me in my wedding dress (she had already seen the picture of it on the model). Her first comment was "oh, its a large girl in the dress". I said "that's me". I am a size 12. I was so upset. Maybe it it just the comment I needed to hear the same day I am starting Jenny Craig but I don't know. It was just hurtful. Granted she misunderstood I was showing her a picture of me in the dress. Did I say this is the same co-worker that when I said I was doing JC she commented "you have gained weight". ARGHHHHH

Made it through my Jenny Craig breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. I am not hungry but yet I am. I am hungry for carbs. I guess I shouldn't save hungry but craving carbs. Off to workout which I don't feel like doing but I will feel better once I work out.

Enjoying a night of Halloween candy. As long as I don't eat like this all the time I think I will be ok. And does it ever taste good.

A large girl size 12 oh please that was not necessary- how big is she? This world is so screwed up in many ways.

Thanks Linda. Both of them would be bigger then a size 12. I guess I didn't mention earlier that another co-worker saw the picture of me in my dress and said something about "big and beautiful" . Both comments in the same morning.

When I get back into a comfortable size 10 I will be happy.

Came home from work tired yesterday. I was sitting on the sofa and realized I could just as easliy spend time on my eliptical so I went and did 45 minutes. Hoping for a good week on Jenny Craig as my DBF won't be home until after supper for the next 7 or so days.

Thanks solar.

I have had this journal for a month and have hardly lost anything. At least I have done good with the exercise part. I hate that I crave junk food. Honestly I am like an alcoholic only with sweets. I know if I stuck to the Jenny Craig plan the weight would fall off but it is just not enough food for me.

I was think that if I don't follow Jenny Craig I need to get up early the next morning and do 30 minutes of walk away the pounds. Then I would still do my eliptical or slim in 6 workout at night. But then with all the illness going around where I work I don't want to be tired. When I am worn down I am more likely to get sick.

Tomorrow is another day and I will try again.

If sweet cravings are hard for you, i'd suggest dropping sugar - in about 3 days, cravings are gone and you'll be amazed at the difference. It may be the mental boost you needed

I know it sounds "extreme" but I'm talking about processed sugars in sweets, natural sugars in fruit just watch some

Congrats on keeping moving!

Thanks again Solar. What gets me is I wil go several days and I am so proud of myself and then stress or something and it is back to square 1.

Today I did a good job of following my Jenny Craig plan. Went out shopping for the morning and brought appropriate snack food. My one thing off the plan was a large handful of goldfish crackers. I also worked out for 60 minutes.

Mostly it's developing the new habits...trust me - been there, done that!

You can do this, and if you go off track, don't beat yourself up...keep moving forward. That's the difference.

Many people go, eh, i messed up -- so they go, why not just keep messing up

If you jump back on plan, that little mess up is not going to make a huge difference in the overall scheme of things...

It's the mental game we have to win most days!

11-08-2009, 05:26 PM
Thanks Solar. You are so right about it being the mental war that I need to win. I even know what the new habits should be but it is actually doing them. I think these few days of eating right will help me stay on track this week.

Another good day with my Jenny Craig Plan. Yesterday I had a cup of sugar free hot chocolate and today I had a chocolate soy pudding pack. Plus I can have sugar free popsicles. I am still not getting quite as many fruits & veggies as I want but I am also not eating cookies or hershey kisses. I plan to bring 2 popsicles and baby carrots to work tomorrow to snack on along with what I am suppose to eat. I noticed I have worked out 6 days in a row so I took today off.

Having this journal and the support really help.

It helped having planned out some snacks for work. I am still not getting in enough fruits and veggies. I love them too so I don't know what is up. Again I have gone about 250 calories over my Jenny Craig Plan. I brought a 100 calorie rice cake snack pack to work. Mondays someone always bring in baked goods to work so this helped me stay away from the really high calorie stuff. I just had a chocolate soy pudding for a snack. So creamy and rich. A student I worked with passes away suddenly and I am baking a dessert for the funeral. I think the soy pudding was rich enough I will stay away from the desserts. Our building is doing desserts and I hope there are no extras laying around. Plus it is so sad to have someone in 4th grade die that some of us end up eating. Don't sweat the small stuff because life really is short.

Okay, so what are you going to do - or how will you get more fruits/veggies in?

Get a juicer? Change your portions on your plate size -- snack options?

I need to just suck it up and eat the fruits and veggies. I really do like them but it seems that now that it is a goal they aren't as yummy.

Good, good, good news. My doctor's office called regarding my recent lab work and my thryroid is off (high I think). I need to go from one pill in the morning to 1 and 1/2 pills. Hoping this helps a few pounds come off. It was so weird how I gained 10 pounds almost over night. Increasing 1/2 a pill seems like a bit much so I hope it is no big deal. They plan to retest in 6 to 8 weeks.

Can't believe it has been almost 2 months since I started this journal. Not much has changed in terms of my weight. I think part of this is due to the holidays as I love my sweets. Overall I am pleased with my work outs. I have slipped a bit due to Christmas and a trip to Disney. I am not pleased with my fruit and veggie intake. Anxious to have the holidays behind and I think it will be easier to stay off the sweets. We bought a Wii and for Christmas I received the Wii Fit Plus and the Active personal trainer. We also have DDR and I love it. I did the Wii Fit for an hour today. It is fun but not a workout like my eliptical or DVDs. Hoping to do the Wii Fit balance games and some hula hooping for 30 minutes every morning and then my regular workout at night. I bought an exercise bike and can't wait to get it. My eliptical is in the garage and it is just too cold some days to use it. Got to fit into that wedding dress!!!

Is the trainer you got the EA Sports Active Trainer? If so, you will love it! I just started the 30 day challenge three days ago. The Wii Fit itself is fun but the games don't wear you out nearly as much as the Sports Active.

Yes, it is the Sports Active Trainer. I played around with it a bit yesterday and I think I will enjoy it. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Yesterday I also joined Sparkpeople. Hope that by logging my food on there I will be more aware of the calories etc.

Good idea with the food logging. Sometimes you don't realize what you're eating until you actually see it in black and white. Our downfall here is eating out too much, although I have learned to stop eating when I am full even when we are in a restaurant. That can be hard sometimes tho' when it's so darned tasty.

It is only my second day with my sparkpeople food journal but I am writing everything down. We had a gift card for Longhorns and that didn't look to good on my journal but I wrote it all in.

I did a 2 mile walking tape, 25 minute flat belly tape that is like walking and 8 minute abs tape. I can't wait for my exercise bike to arrive. We hooked up cable in the basement so I will have no excuse to not get in 60 minutes of exercise a day.

The pounds are finally coming off. Jenny Craig wasn't the answer for me but I can see it would be for some people. I went to see a nutritionist (spellling?). We talked about my health, allergies, complaints etc. Now for 4 weeks I am cutting out sugar, flour etc. I can have beef, chicken, turkey etc. Also most beans (lentils, black beans, green beans, fava beans, great northern beans et), some nuts (almsonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds), some veggies (carrots, celery, cucumbers, asparagus, leeks, onions, peppers), some fruit (cherries, cranberries, papaya, blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon), rice and oats, lots of oils such as olive, almond etc and quite a few spices. There are a few more food I can eat that I did not list but I don't really like them or can't find them. The thought is if I can stay on this plan for 4 weeks I will feel so good I won't go back to my old ways. After 4 weeks we will introduce in some foods and see how I feel-bloated, sluggish etc. Now for the second part of the plan-hypnosis. I think that is what is helping make the difference for me, that boost I needed. Please no negative posts as I am very sensitive and so porud that the pounds are coming off. I feel much more in control of my eating. I repeat phrases such as "I am in control of my eating", "I am doing this" several times a day. I am so happy to finally see the weight come off and I know this healthy eating plan is good for me. (She said if I just have to have chocolate to have 70% dark and let it melt in my mouth instead of just chomp down on it.) I am so happy to finally see the scale go down (and my belly too). Plus I still keep up with my exercise.

Down to 152 this morning. It feels so good to finally see the pounds coming off. yesterday I was able to fit back into a pair of pants I love but haven't worn for months. Today everone at work seemed to notice (I think it was a sliming outfit too). We are heading for a last minute trip to Florida on Sat. I am a little concerned but we are stopping at the grocery store as soon as we land to pick some healthy snacks. I think if I can stay away from the breads, pastas, desserts I should be fine. I do plan on splurging a bit. Boardwalk bakery here I come. The key is to only have a couple of dessert instead of dessert with every meal and a rice krispie bar thrown in as a snack.
