How do you guys find out about the cheap airfare rates? I always see posts that Delta is having a sale, but I don't know how you find out about these sales. I am traveling to Minneapolis from either Baton Rouge or New Orleans on 7/25 to 7/28 and was looking for a cheap rate. Today is fourteen days before my travel date and I am finding the same rate that I got last month only 3 days before my travel date. Any suggestions?

I start checking the fares on the airline websites a good 6 months before I go. That way I have a good idea of the prices, and plenty of time to catch a sale. The closer you get to your vacation the planes are filling up so, unless the plane is not full I don't think you'll get a sale. I booked last Jan for a great fare on Delta for May. My only advice is to keep checking the website as often as you can. Good luck..

Another thing you can do is register on Travelocity.com (it's free). On their home page, they have a "Farewatcher" service. You can type in 5 pairs of cities that you want to watch for cheap airfare. Then everytime you log onto Travelocity, you can look right there on the home page and check what they have listed as the cheapest fares for your 5 pairs of cities. It's great!
One caution though. Pay attention to whether the posted fares on travelocity or any other site are with or without tax and fees. Makes a difference!
Good luck! :D
