Sounds like SOOOO much fun! I did a beauty parlor party for my now 20 (almost 21) year old daughter for her 3rd birthday - I made a laundry basket full of dress up clothes, applied make up, did hair and nails... it was so much fun! I know she'll love it! Enjoy these days, Mom; they pass so quickly!

Well Mini that sounds like an RSVP to me. i'll count you in. what size fairy wings should i get you. lol. The funny thing is this is not even her birthday, just a movie night promis i made prior looking at the calendar!!! For her birthday in december i'm doing a Grand Mardi Gras Meets princess and the frog party. With parade, gumbo, beads and all. (my ideas sometime get me in a pickle)

That sounds like a great birthday, I was thinking the Tinkerbell movie party was fantastic, the birthday party even more so. Your daughter will have amazing memories :)

GOOD MORNING CRUISERS!!!! What will you be doing this time next week???

If plans hold true, this time next week we'll be in Cape Canaveral :goodvibes

I am super excited :) I have to go over the list and see what I have and what I want to pick up yet, wrap the FE items, and maybe try to squeeze in a manicure/pedicure (and dare I dream, hair coloring appointment) before we leave.

:yay: Our first cruise is all the closer :yay:

Thank you, I love for little girls to be little girls, and not grow up so quick and be bombarded with all the "ills" of the world. :scared1:....

So Beans is that your RSVP.... I am going out to get fairy:tinker:: wings today...

As I was putting my FE gifts together, I realized the stuff I got for the Tween-Teen boys are not so great.... (Well my DS14 said they suck):confused3
Lets just say last year for Christmas I got him a rubex cube as a stocking stuffer...his face said a lot (but he pretended he liked it) we still laugh about that :lmao:

Any suggestions for the Tween/Teen Boys

I bet what you have will be more than fine  it will drive you nuts trying to find something to appease everyone in that (or any) age group, it's the thought that matters, and I think the kids will be thrilled that someone thought of them (I asked my son about it, and he said he would be thrilled to get anything - so I think even for the teens/tweens it will be the thought that someone shared something with them). I was having trouble with that age group too, and finally decided to listen to my husband when he said that it's the thought that counts, and the fun of participating.

Speaking of Rubix cubes, I gave one to my son (now 14) in his stocking too this past Christmas ~ he gave it a whirl, but thinks it is impossible (or witchcraft :lmao: ) to get it back in order.

We didnt divide our FE gifts by age...we did girl bags and boy bags.....we just hope that it's ok! :) Thought that counts in my book!:goodvibes

We worked on our FE gifts tonight and ran out of the little bags we were using. So off to the store after work tomorrow to get more bags.....we should finish tomorrow night with FE gifts!:cool1:

GOOD MORNING CRUISERS!!! Kamy, I bet you will have that Starbucks! Not sure what kind of coffee I'll have a week from today, but I'll get something and get on the ship and get more if needed. I'm stoked!

Soooooo - What will you be doing one week from when you read this???? :yay:

JenGC
09-19-2010, 08:24 AM
Kamy- I hope that's not it! If so, I WON'T get any sleep from now until then!! Thankfully, I went back to bed around 2:15, laid there for a little while and woke up again at 8. :yay: Wow. I only have work days from here on out WOOT!!!

A week from right now I would have been up SEVERAL hours because I am sure I would have woke up, I would have an exciting little girl up WITH me! lol and realizing that there is a time change, I would probably be packed and standing at the door! OR I might have already dropped Mom, Karen, and Victoria off and the luggage and be heading back to Hertz to drop off the car and get them to take me back. I wanna be at the counter at 10 and be the first one one board! :yay:

This time a week from today, I'll be at the port ~ since we're first timers, I want to get there early to get a feel for things, and hopefully get in a spot to be in group 2 - group 1 is for the Castaway Cay Club folks, right? I want to make sure we get on board in an early group to have more time to look around, eat, and all that :)

Or, doesn't it matter if a first timer gets there early, will Cay Club members get in front anyway? - such as if we get there at 10 and a bunch of Members get there at noon, they get on first anyway?

I know, I worry about silly things, I'll be there early regardless :goodvibes

So everyone is wearing green leis to the Meet?

I want to get there early, because the waiting and anticipation is part of the fun for me. I used to do it as a kid going to camp, and we did it with out kids when they were going to camp. We used to do it at WDW too, but now life makes us so tired, we are content with getting up and getting there. I say all this to say - don't stress about getting there to board in a certain group if you can help it - some are just wired that way and can't help it; I get that. My experience in port has been fun and not seemed so much like waiting. Once on board, there is plenty to do, plenty to eat, and there will be plenty of time to explore. I guess what I'm saying is if you can, just enjoy the whole process and try not to start out stressing yourself about getting there.

This sounds hilarious coming out of my mouth (or hands as the case may be) to those who know me, because I want to get there so early, but I do think there's a difference between wanting to get there early to enjoy the anticipation and wanting to get there early to make sure you're in a certain boarding group. Maybe if I had ever been in a late boarding group, I'd have a different opinion too - I guess it's all relative to one's experience and expectations/desires. :confused3

That makes sense, and anticipation definitely sounds far more productive (and fun) than worry (I tend to be a worrier by nature, a quality I am trying to overcome ~ this may be a perfect opportunity to exercise a non/less-worry focus :goodvibes ). Thanks :) you helped me see it in a different perspective, and I truly appreciate that :) I am going to remind myself to focus on the anticipation, the new experience, and the fun :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm taking a blazer, dress shirt, and dress pants for Palo. Not wearing a tie. Since the girls want to do room service one night, we're going to do that and stay in to eat on dress up night.

Mack will probably take khakis and sport shirts for the dining room, and he'll take a jacket, dress shirt, and tie for Palo. He'll take his pirate outfit for that night.

We are soooo close now, everyone! FE gifts are finished and just need to work on more of the stuff for our door. My mom set up pedi appointments for myself and my DD (age 6) yesterday. It was my DD's first pedi and we went to a special place where they painted a Minnie on one big toe and Mickey on the other! She is too excited!

Not sure if I can find a green lei this week...might have to do a multi-colored one unless someone knows where they are selling green ones!

For my husband I am packing him a suit, with different shirts/ties to mix it up ~ I figured that way we wouldn't have to pack as much ... it probably comes out to be the same though :confused3 I tend to over-pack so this time I am trying to go lighter.

-Is anyone making their own autograph book. I was thinking about it but not sure how much time I really have, or can I find one at the port.

- Anyone have any suggestions on how I can make an autograph board to stick on our door, I want something that folks can leave a little note or say hi. or sign, I want to be able to have a little keep-sake to bring back, but be able to adhere to the door. Any thoughts.

- I know this sounds crazy but is there pop-corn on board... DD3 loves the stuff, and thinks she needs it every time she watches a movie.

- I have read so much about tipping the room services staff and this is a non-tipped position) what is a good tip to give them?

Thanks..... :cheer2:

There should be some for sale on board, or you can just buy a small inexpensive one. I was at Michael's this week, and in the dollar section, they had small journals with Disney princesses, Cars, Toy Story, etc... on the cover. It even had a little pen with it; however, some say the characters have an easier time signing with a Sharpie or other marker.

You could do something as simple as a scrapbook page attached to your door with magnets. Or you could put magnet tape on the back of a canvas in the size you prefer, and you have instant wall art. You could also use a piece of foam board or poster board attached with magnet tape - simply put Autographs or Notes or something like that at the top of it.

- I know this sounds crazy but is there pop-corn on board... DD3 loves the stuff, and thinks she needs it every time she watches a movie.

We have gone to the movies and not seen the popcorn others have mentioned, but we went to Preludes (a snack/bar area outside the theater) and bought a bag of caramel popcorn.

- I have read so much about tipping the room services staff and this is a non-tipped position) what is a good tip to give them?

Just keep an envelope of singles in a drawer. I think most folks give $2 - $4 depending on what they order.

Thanks..... :cheer2:

Just realized that I need to be online Sunday for work exactly at 1pm eastern time for approximately 30 minutes or so. I wasn't planning on bringing my laptop nor iPad on the cruise, but only my iPod Touch for my music.
Will I be able to get online with my iPod Touch while we are onboard at Port Canaveral? Or do I have to use one of their computers on the ship? Will the computer center even be open at 1pm? My only other option would be to find a Starbuck or other place and pay for the Wifi there, but that would mean we would have to board the ship later too :(

Hey everyone,

Just got back from my dad's memorial service...are exhausted, worn out but safe and sound in Indy. Still seems surreal that he's gone. It was a fabulous day though...hard one...but he would have loved it! I mean LOVED it!

Dad was an ASA softball player for YEARS (I cut my teeth on the ballfields of southern Indiana) and so many people he used to play with...actually from little league to ASA years were there. I think he also dated every lady that came yesterday.:rotfl: Everytime I turned around someone was saying, "Your dad was my eighth grade boyfriend" or "I dated your dad in..." I finally started the conversations with a handshake and "Did you date my date too?":rotfl2: Made the night easier!

Sidenote on a small "cool" thing that happened...An ASA umpire came and presented all of us kids and grandkids with an official ASA flipping coin to commerate dad. He said he was the best outfielder he had ever seen. He's supposed to be inducted into the Indiana softball Hall of Fame this coming March. Wish he could have seen that happen.:sad1:

So.....a big THANK YOU for the prayers (again) and the well wishes and we can't forget the pixie dust!!!:goodvibes I wouldn't have survived without all of them!:grouphug:

This morning we went to the ballpark and sprinkled dad's ashes smack dab in center field on the field where he most often played. It was SUCH a fitting end to his life...all of his kids, grandkids and ex-wives :rolleyes1 were in attendance! ;) He would have been proud and I felt he was looking down on all of us with his big bright grin saying..."Good job guys!":thumbsup2

Anywho...I cannot believe we are leaving this Saturday!!!! So much to do before then. Pray I remember to pack everything! So excited. See you on Sunday everyone!!!!! Woo hoo!:woohoo:

TJ (oh..and Bill..he really does exist):rotfl:

Jen...are you watching your Manning boys? I know you are! We are too! Sure hope Peyton comes out on top tonight! Fingers crossed! But I'm scared after the bloodbath of a game we had last week against the Texans.:rolleyes1

Gotta love all the colleges games in full swing (wow...DENARD ROBINSON...don't even like Michigan but I smell a trophy coming his way????).

And like many of you...we are in the middle of some great high school football games here in central Indiana. My nephew is a class 3A (out of 5) head coach and he's 5-0 right now! He won a state title as a player and we are praying for one this year as a coach. Would be soooo cool!:dance3:

In our little town we have two high schools...only four years ago it was one BIG high school. So yes, the rivalry is BIG. At their faceoff this year we had over 7000 people. It was standing room only...about 5 or 6 deep all around the fence. It was CRAZY! One of the most electric atmospheres I've EVER seen.:scared1:

Okay...I'll shut up!

Love football season!!!!!:thumbsup2

TJ - Glad you're home safely and that things went as well as it sounds they did. I know it is a surreal feeling. What a wonderful tribute to your dad to have the the coins presented! And yes, the sprinkling sounds very fitting! It seems it turned into a real celebration of his life!

Have a good week! It will be busy, I'm sure.

Does everyone have a packing list????? My husband laughingly told me tonight, his goal is to not have to stop at the drug store before we go to the port. We've had to do that - had to have an Rx transferred down because I forgot to take it with me. That is NOT what I want to spend next Sunday doing!

I found one source that says the Internet Cafe is not open until 1/2 hour after sail away. I asked some friends and one told me her husband was able to log on his own computer and surf the internet before sail away. You might want to call the cruise line and make sure if it is mandatory that you're on, so you won't have to leave the ship and come back or board late.

Popping back in after what seems like MONTHS away (probably because it HAS been months :scared1:)

Thanks for all the pixie dust sent my way....the job I really wanted in June finally came thru in September & I started on the 7th

I've been super busy between school, kids, and work....so have woefully fallen behind on all internet related-situations, and we are very much looking foward to getting in some rest & relaxation.

Gabe has decided that potty-training is NOT for him, so while I :love:the castmembers at Flounders, we have had to adjust our budges and our expectations since instead of being able to get chunks of time at the club we are severely limted by the availability of hours.

We are arriving in Cocoa Beach sometime after 3 on Friday (decided to work half a day since I'm new and all) and instead of relying on hotel shuttles we are biting the bullet and parking at the terminal. We plan on being there ohhhhhhhh 10ish. lol.

Last year was SO much more organized....I already had all of our clothing packed, all the FEs made (even though I forgot them at home :headache:) had pre-paid our tips and excursion, etc. So far Danny, Gabe & Sarah have gotten their pre-trip haircuts......and I know where the suitcases are..sigh...cant wait to be back on that beautiful boat and watching the sun come up over the horizon.

Everyone have a safe and sane Monday!

Hi everyone! Mom and I just finished the FE gifts...except for one of mine that I cant do until Friday :goodvibes
Going to start packing and organizing tomorrow! And do our last minute shopping...seems like we keep forgetting things and I dont want to stop on the way (mimi! :cutie:)!

We finished our magnets today...we laminated them and put the stick magnets on the back. They turned out great and we are so excited to decorate our doors. We got dry erase boards too! So much fun to leave messages on the door!

DH only works 3 more nights before and then he can try and get himself used to being awake during the day! :3dglasses I am off Mon-Thur but work Fri and Sat...so then it is cruise time! WOW! :cool1:

TJ- welcome back! I am so glad you are in good spirits and that your dads memorial went well. Ashes on center field sounds wonderful. Sending more hugs your way!

GOOD MORNING CRUISERS!!!
Our last Monday before we cruise - I believe we can do this and do it in good spirits too! I didn't get as much done as I had wanted this past weekend, but hey, that's okay! It'll all get done.

Yes Kamy, our goal is to not have to stop on the way to the port - especially not for a prescription!!! I know we will need to do some laundry when we get off the ship (though Mack says he'd rather do it on the ship) so stopping afterward would be okay.

Okay- off to work. Hoping to get there a wee bit early this morning to get some grades put in, but we'll see... it is Monday.

Seriously, there is no need to go to a laundromat...you are welcome here if you want (mom says we use good laundry soap:cutie:)! No pressure!:lmao:

Okay, my week begins....packing, finishing FE stuff, and so on.......

You crack me up!!!! You and your mom are so very kind!!!! However, there is no way in the world we would bring our unmentionables to your home to wash - just not going to happen! My husnamd runs on that ship - runs! Do you know what those clothes smell like after he finishes??? Sorry honey, if you are reading this! Let's just say Kamy, I'll be bringing a garbage bag with the odro thing in it to put his running clothes in until we wash them. I love the man, and I love that he takes care of himself by running; but I much prefer his "essence" when he hasn't been running. It's all good - we'll be ready to sit for a while and wait on laundry! Mack says he really wants to do it on the ship, so he can sit by the pool or on deck 4 while the clothes are washing.

We finished our magnets today...we laminated them and put the stick magnets on the back. They turned out great and we are so excited to decorate our doors. We got dry erase boards too! So much fun to leave messages on the door!

I read on a trip report that they took a clip board and paper for people to sign and put messages on it from their dis groups. I thought it was a GREAT idea so I have a very girly polka dot clip board and some cool computer paper that I want everyone to sign and leave messages! "I'm at the Cove" or whatever you want to put. I want to keep it! :D

I am so extremely scared now. It is a mix of excitement to go, fear that I wont get all the FE gifts done, reading horrible articles about girl passengers that have been given too much freedom (I have nixed the idea of giving Victoria self check out privileges now), fear of the rouge waves, fear of the hurricanes that might be close. http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/gaah-1.gif

I can't wait until I am http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/trip-1.gif andhttp://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/gathering.gif and http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/water.gif (because I KNOW I am going to do that AT LEAST once!) and not http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/willy.gif

SO GLAD TO SEE YOU!!!! Oh gosh! I forgot about my hair! crap! :headache: I need to...well have it done LOL I am so happy you got a job!! and the one you wanted :yay:

I am glad you had a beautiful day. It made me think of my Dad's memorial service. While we didnt get the constant "Your dad and I dated...." comments I got the "your dad worked for us and he was the best employee I ever had" The service was probably the most acceptable one for him because he would hate any kind of event that brought him to the center of attention. He even hated his birthday and was very happy that his 3rd grandchild, my niece, was born on his birthday so we could celebrate her instead of him.

Your dad sounds marvelous. Let me know if you want to talk or just cry! I have two shoulders you can use :D

Yeah I saw the game. Eli is my first love. Peyton is awesome except when he plays NY but how often does that happen? More now that they are BROTHERS! Anyway, I can sympathize with Eli. He is the younger brother always in the shadow of the older one. He seems to still let his older brother rattle him. Oh well, I still love him! I would rather loose to the Colts than to the Texans anyway! http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/JenETRT/tease-1.gif hahahahahahaahahhahaaha

I totally get it! The worst thing about this cruise (ok, for me the only bad thing) is missing the NC State vs Ga Tech football game which will be on Saturday while we are driving down. (I am an NC State Grad, my son is a Ga Tech grad). The game is even here in Atlanta but it is a small price to pay for Disney Cruise!

Hey all,

Jen I think it was you who asked a few days ago what you needed to print and bring to the port with you, I am not sure if you had already but as FYI you need to Read, Print and sign the Disney Cruise Line Contract and bring it to the port with you.

It is under the forms for the on-line check in for your reservations.
It says-
ONLINE CHECK-IN SIGNATURE FORM

Here is your Online Check-In Signature Form, including the Payment Authorization Summary. Select the "Print" button below to print out this form. You must bring this signed form to the terminal with you at embarkation.

You can ask for ANYTHING! They'll try to please if possible. We cruised with folks once who were disappointed there wasn't a Mexican night. The next night at dinner, their table had a Mexican feast while the rest of us had the regular (but it was all great!) menu for dinner.

LOL We get to take 2 free bags on our airline. I already have one packed with my clothes and stuff. I need to pack my shoes. But the other one will be dedicated to FE gifts and things I am bringing for others <glaring at Kim>. :rotfl2: I might even steel Victoria's second bag if I can get HER dresses in her bag. I feel like I am forgetting something though.

Jen, here is a thought if you have the time, I typed all my address out and will print them on address labels. So that way I don't have to worry about writing out address, and my address book. Just peel and stick.
(just hope I don't forget the the sheet of labels at home, still waiting on a few more address) :lmao:

I also print labels with our name and address, cabin number, and the number of bags out of how many bags. I use these on the tags because they ask you to fill in that information on the tags. It looks something like this -

Name and Name Lastname
street address
city, state, zip
Cabin#:
Bag: 1 of 4 (or whatever it is)

FE GROUP 1 PARENTS:
Your child's bag from us will contain a pixie stix and a glow stick bracelet - but it is straight till it gets popped and coupled. Please don't let them mix the two up and eat the glow stick. Our bags for the kids are the bright DIS green. I'll also stick a label on it that says something about not eating the glow stick.

We didn't include one in McKenna's since she is under 3.

You can ask for ANYTHING! They'll try to please if possible. We cruised with folks once who were disappointed there wasn't a Mexican night. The next night at dinner, their table had a Mexican feast while the rest of us had the regular (but it was all great!) menu for dinner.

:woohoo: if there are no fish tacos on the menu, I might still stand a chance of getting some? :woohoo:

If someone can mess it up, I can sure do it! Went online today and tried to go over all the activities I had confirmed. Hit the wrong button and cancelled everything, even our cruise reservation, then the computer locked up and couldn't undo anything! Scrambled for 20 minutes trying to find the Disney Cruise line phone # to have them check and they say everything is still there. I'll check tomorrow and make sure! Grrrr!

Now, what I should have been doing today, repacking! Got most of my clothes packed and of course, have twice too much so I am going to go back and eliminate half of it. So, if you see a little granny with a top but no bottoms or a bottom with no tops, yep, that would be me!:rotfl2: I just know I have waaaayyyyy to much in the suitcase right now!

Still have no magnets printed. DD says it is no biggie - she will do them tonight! Okkkaaaaaayyyy! :confused3 Whatever! Maybe just doing some fingerpainting and putting magnets on the back for our door!:lmao: Should be easy to find us!:rotfl:

Hope ya'lls day went better than mine!:thumbsup2

May not be around tomorrow - having out patient surgery on hip so I -hopefully - can walk better. Hope dr. is right! Keep fingers crossed! Since we are doing WDW first (pre-cruise) guess this is it for me! See ya in the boat!

Most of the computer models have it continuing to move west into Central America. The couple of models that do have it eventually moving in a threatening direction have it weakening before it becomes a problem for our cruise and destinations. At least that is how it is at this time. Soooooooo...I'm not worried just yet.

However, forecasts for the areas around the Bahamas are showing anywhere from 40-60% chance of rain most days. Hope we have a good driver that can dodge the precip. :sail:

Our FE gifts for kids are the same across the board. I apologize up front to the really young and the older kids....we just did all the same (except boy gifts for boys and girl gifts for girls). It was easier for us!.:3dglasses

I can't help you with the FE list, but on Sunday we are trying to have our group wear a bright green lei or multicolored lei if you can't find green. That way we can start to recognize each other in the port terminal. But, if you don't have one, or don't want to wear one, just look for those that are so adorned and come join the group.

Also, we are meeting at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 for a meet and greet. Be there!

We are spending Saturday night at the Residence Inn, free of charge (Thank you marriott rewards points!). However, I am going to drive DW and Peanutmonkey to the port with the luggage, going back to park the car, then taking the shuttle myself to the port.
We will have breakfast and are targeting being at the port around 10:30.

"The Disney Wonder is an incredible ship. When I toured the inside staterooms I was so impressed with the size, it is amazing how much storage they fit into the room and yet you don't feel crowded at all! They have a new inside lounge above Quiet Cove Pool we didn't get to see, so make sure to check that out for me!! The fitness room has an amazing view, try to get there even if you don't want to work out!! Make sure to wave goodbye to all the folks along the shore when you leave Port Canaveral"

That's weird because they told us that you only get the breakfast on certain rooms or a package or something and breakfast would be something like $8 each. I was like "uhhh I will go to McDonalds!" LOL I will see when I check in.

GOOD MORNING CRUISERS!!!
Half day for me today then pedicure and last minute running errands and home to pack. I'm hoping that process doesn't take too long. I WONDER if I'll be able to sleep tonight. Maybe I'll sleep and just DREAM of all the MAGIC awaiting us come Sunday and through the week. I can't wait to plop - and I mean plop - in a deck 4 chair and stick my nose in my book!!! I am hoping for good weather, but honestly, I'm certain Mack and I will have a good time either way.

Kamy, I can't wait to see you, hug your neck, and wish you a happy birthday in person! I'm looking forward to time with you and Steve, Vera and Norma, and Ryan and Liam! Please tell Ryan and Liam we can't wait to sail with them on Mickey's ship!

Have a great day everyone! I'm off to 5 hours of my wonder-kiddos! I do love my students!!!!! They're amazing!

We never left as planned ~ my mother was in a car accident yesterday about 5:30 om, and is still in the hospital. She went out for some last minute things for the trip and about 15 minutes from home was hit in the side of the driver's side, and is in the hospital with a brain bleed ~ she has cuts and bruises, but it's the bleed that has the doctors concerned.

She is telling us to go ahead without her, but we'd feel horrible. Hopefully we will know how the bleed is today sometime. We didn't get home from the hospital ourselves until the early am hours, still a bit in shock over it all, we went from packing and planning on heading out early to this.

I thought your were staying at the Radisson and Webmeister is talking about the Residence Inn. Is that perhaps the disconnect on the breakfast or am I remembering wrong? :confused3

Getting ready to start my last day of work. We will leave the house around 7am tomorrow. It is about a 9 hour drive for us.

Well, I am sad to say that I think we may need to drop out of the FE....
I have been having trouble at work the last few weeks....it has been an emotional and physical challenge (I work with special needs students...and this one is a whopper this year) to the extent that I had talked to my boss about quitting. I have until this afternoon to give her my decision and it has not been an easy one, I still don't know what to do. I have not been able to complete the adult FEs...and my kids one are pathetic- I was wanting to add more. I have no desire to get out of bed....this vacation is coming at the perfect time. I am sorry if I don't meet you all at 3 on Sunday, I don't know if I'll be up for socializing yet. I hope you can understand.

I am sorry for those of you who were counting on our FE, I feel horrible. I may try to finish them within the next month or so and send them to you then...but I know it won't be the same. Again, I am terribly sorry.

Gosh, sounds like you have been through the wringer. Look, I am sure I speak for EVERYONE on this board. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE FE GIFTS! This is a vacation, not a job. If you have your fish extender to hang, hang it up. We want to give you what has been brought for you. If you are up to the meet, come and meet with us on Sunday. We would love to meet you. Do not worry about what you give out or not giving anything out. We would rather include you in the group and support you. Relax! You don't owe anyone here anything. Get on the ship and just rest. Do not give the FE gifts another thought.

Have you ever done something nice for someone without getting anything in return? Doesn't that feel good?! Your FE gift to us can be the gift of allowing us to do something nice for you without getting anything in return. Take care - it is not as good for us if it makes you feel bad! Just enjoy allowing us to do something nice for you.

Now, repeat after me - "My DisBoard friends care about me. I will not worry about FE gifts. I will hang up my FE outside my cabin and then just rest and soak in the Disney magic. I will not feel guilty. I will just enjoy my vacation."

Now seriously, just get on the boat with us! Hang in there!

Oh duh, I guess I haven't posted my 'details' yet.

We are leaving Shah-lut Saturday morning and doing a leisurely 10 hr drive to good ole port canaveral.
We are spending Saturday night at the Residence Inn, free of charge (Thank you marriott rewards points!). They are kind enough to let us leave our car there for free (Yay!) and have an el-cheapo shuttle to the port in the morning. However, I am going to drive DW and Peanutmonkey to the port with the luggage, going back to park the car, then taking the shuttle myself to the port.
We will have breakfast and are targeting being at the port around 10:30.

Anyone else staying at the Residence Inn?

We are!!!! And...like you...staying for free thanks to those wonderful Marriott points!! :thumbsup2

Maybe see you there...if not...SUNDAY! Safe travels.

ok...consolidating:

Beans...your mother and your family are in our prayers. What some friends of ours have done when a cast member had to be left behind for one reason or another is bring a cut-out sillouette of them and take pictures with the silouette at different points in the vacation so they know you are thinking about them and miss them....I've also heard other great ideas for dedicating parts of the trip to that person so it will always be a memory of how much they are loved.

CM1997....yeah, what Mack said.

Jen...I guess a bunny must have flashed some waffles when you read my post. Take a couple of advil pm around 9pm tonight and you'll sleep like a baby for no less than 8 hrs. trust me.

btjhayes....we are leaving around 11am tomorrow so I'm guessing with a 3 year old and a wife with a bladder the size of a small pea we'll be there around 9 or 10pm so we probly wont run into each other until the morning. Oh, and almost forgot.... GO BEARS!

For everyone else.... Can't wait!

Yep - what my husband said! I won't ask you to repeat anything or write anything on the board a specific number of times - just please hang in there and come when you can to meet with all of us. Hopefully that will be at the meet at 3, but not if that idea stresses you out too. I teach, and I have taught EBD and ASD in the past - I know how bad that can be from various standpoints. I am SO sorry! I am having the worst year as a teacher that I have ever had - in over 20 years - and I am in a good school situation. I am just really hard on myself and my expectations for myself are horrendously high. Couple that with some parent antics that should never take place, and well, it has been a year so far. I really just want to get to the point where I feel like I can actually take a deep breath.

I am officially on vacation. Fall break started at noon. I am off to get my pedicure (I just want to sleep though - see what I mean about being run down and wanting to breathe?) and run the last minute errands then come home and pack. I hope (read really hope) that we can get to bed decently early and leave on time tomorrow.

Be safe new friends! I guess we'll all be traveling down there or over there (Kamy) soon! I can't wait to meet you and share some laughter together!

I am so sorry to hear that, You and your mother are in my prayers. When I read your message all I could say is my Lord. I pray for healing and a full recovery. I wish it was something I could do or say to help, and I know there isn't. Just know your family is being lifted up and prayer.

I know you must be battling with the decision to stay with her or go on vacation.... I pray you do whats best for you and your family. We all hope to see you on-board. (if your mom wants you to go, and you feel at peace with going then you should, she would feel awful if you didn't, but if you are not at peace then.... maybe next time. Well the devil seems up to his old tricks and really busy. To all my Dis-board family, I am not sure what or where everyone is spiritually and hope not to offend anyone, but let me offer your the following. The enemy comes to seek, kill and destroy... and it seems as if he is trying to still everyone joy. Remember this.... God has given you un-speakable joy, and not a demon in hell can steal it away. So with all the sorrow, grief and mis-happs, don't let your joy be taken.

The fabric of my family has really been stretched the past few months (the reason for this trip). But I would like to share the lyrics of a song that has really helped me. If time allows, go to Youtube and watch the video.

I Almost Let Go
By. Kurt Carr and the the Kurt Carr singers.

I almost let go, I felt like I couldn't take life anymore
My problems had me bound, depression weighed me down
But God held me close, so I wouldn't let go.
God's Mercy kept me, so I wouldn't let go

I almost gave up, I was right at the edge of a breakthrough
but I couldn't see it.
The devil really had me, but Jesus came and grab me
and he held me close, so I wouldn't let go
God's mercy kept me so I wouldn't let go

Chorus

So I'm here today because God kept me
I'm alive today only because of his grace
Oh he kept me, God kept me, he kept me
So I wouldn't let go

I almost let go, I felt like I couldn't take life anymore
My problems had me bound, depression weighed me down
But God held me close, so I wouldn't let go.
God's Mercy kept me, so I wouldn't let go.

I hope that the words above can encourage someones heart today.

Now onto me....I am asking for prayers for my cousin who is the closest thing to a brother that I have. He is very ill and dealing with a lot of personal and health issues right now. Please say a prayer for him and his family for me. He lives up in MI and these are the times I hate being far away. Thanks!!!

Kamy, I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Consider him lifted, dear friend!

Thanks for that! I truly appreciated it!

Off to pack my suitcases; Mack is working on the fur children's things as I type this. They'll be staying with our son while we're gone. I am looking forward to seeing him in the morning, though I hope I can tear myself away to get us on the road still early. I love him dearly - it's always hard to say goodbye to my children!

I'll probably check in again tonight, and knowing me (unlike my husband) this thing will probably be the last thing I pack. :) That means I may even manage to come on here one last time in the morning.

Be safe everyone! Between all of us on here, don't fret about forgetting something - to be sure one of us will have it. Off to pack -

Urgh, I am still debating the whole transportation thing... I have a car rented with budget for 49.00. But I was thinking about calling a cab from the airport to the hotel or a car service (between $100-115).

My thought is this, with a rental, I can drive myself at night and yet be able to get to the port when I want to, but then I have to load all our bags, un-load them, get lost, pay toll and fill up the tank and plus some $17 service charge:confused3:confused3

Or get in a car service and let them get my bags, drive me, let swing by the store, drop me off bring bags in and then get shuttle to the port. This option cost more but it is more convenient....

I need to hurry up and make up my mind.

Well, I'm as packed as I can be tonight. Hubby-dear (aka Sweet Strawberries) is loading what we can in the car. His brother brought over his satellite radio for us to borrow so we can get the NCSU vs GT game tomorrow on the drive down - what a love! Now I just have to go through my purse and wallet and take out all those things I don't need to be taking with me. Tomorrow I have to remember the cell phone charger - the car one broke. Yuck! Off to eat some dinner. I haven't eaten anything all day - seriously. I am not that hungry. I guess my stomach knows where I am headed!!!!

Beans - So sorry you will not be joining us; I am glad you are able to do what you feel is best though - important.

We enjoyed a nice early dinner at Fishlips and watched the Carnival Dream sail by - my, she is BIGGGGGG. We sat in the hot tub and the pool a while here at the Radisson, but since we didn't sleep much last night at all, we are hoping to get to sleep early tonight - and sleep through the night since no fur children will be waking us in the night with their scratching. Apparently our little Yorkie stepped on something or got bitten by something yesterday, and he could not leave his foot alone last night. Have a great night everyone! Be safe! We'll see you at the port tomorrow or in the Promenade lounge at 3.

Well everyone, it is cold and rainy in PA. Even though we didn't hit CC, I am grateful for the new friends I made. I am amazed at the creativity of many of you with the FE gifts, they were amazing. I think that was one of my kids favorite things....they would run off the elevator and swing the corner to look for gifts in the "hanging thing" as they called it.

We did not re-book as I need to say....we were just not wowed by the ship. I don't think the CC issue had anything to do with it. We both felt it was quite comparable to both the RC and Carnival cruise we did in the past. I am shocked I am saying this since, I am such a Disney girl. Anyway, for the $$$, we just didn't think it was worth it. Looking at doing the Oasis of the Seas next year. I would do Disney with a good sale if that ever happens and that would be just do to the Dis! My oldest LOVED the teen club and the freedom he got.

We went to the Hard Rock prior to cruise. We scored a double upgrade....kids suite with club access. The kids suite was an error, I believe, as the manager told me we were upgraded to club and then I inquired if the room would hold 5 like the one I reserved....he went...UUHHMMM, let me see...thus the kids suite. Club was nice, we took soda's with us to the park versus buying there (I can't believe that they allow this however, the club lady told us to take them along). Harry Potter was packed. My oldest went on the new ride, I did not for fear of motion sickness. Butterbeer rocked!!!

After cruise, checked in for 3 days at AKV. Got a great 1 bedroom on the sunset savannah. 4th floor, close to the lobby (for the life of me, I cant remember the room number). Giraffe's, zebra's and birds were right outside. It was fascinating. On the 1st, my husband was on tram to get car as I and the rest of the family took boat to Wilderness lodge for dinner plans. When he showed up at WL, he had 7 tix to the halloween party. 7....I was psyched. We were a party of 8, as we met friends at Disney, so we split the price of one ticket. Kids loved it however; on way home, we got caught speeding. Police officer gave us a warning ticket.....Oh, and my daughter peed on Ken's foot about 5 seconds after saying she needed to go to the bathroom. I am not making any of this up......Ken said he was going to tell officer the entire story to help get out of ticket however; it was not necessary.

On Sunday, as we were leaving, we saw some Dis'ers at AKV. Can't remember screen name however; they are from Michigan and on a 3 week vacation!! Venice, cruise and AKV. They were great.....it was so cool to feel like we knew someone while away.

Anyway....back to reality. It was great meeting you all, thanks again for the amazing gifts!

Hey everyone! Just a quick note to say hello! Thanks to everyone for all the great FE gifts. Sorry we couldn't deliver our things the way we had planned. When I hurt my leg, it put me out of commission one of the nights. It is still sore but I am hoping to avoid going to the doctor!:confused3
We rebooked for 9/25/11 and are really excited!:cool1:
Overall, loved the cruise and time with friends and meeting new people. Hated missing CC...I just got spoiled having never missed it on 9 previous cruises I guess.
Gotta run for now, gonna go give my sick doggy some meds and cuddle with him!:cloud9:

Thanks again and loved meeting you guys!

MIMI , my DW and I are booked on the 9/25 Dream also. Rm. 5546. I though you guys where not going next year??? In 2012 instead. Was it I that talked you guys into it? We were totally let down for not getting to go to C C. MIMI , next year we are going to make it , save up on our PIXIE DUST.....OK :thumbsup2 WE are also going with DD in 5/22/2011 on the DREAM , come and go with us then. Did MACK get his book read , as for me I got to chapter 17 [of 30] , had to much going on. To keep thinking posititive , Kathy was 2 numbers away from winning the $4,020.00 at bingo.Let's keep in-touch , we  you guys.

Enjoyed meeting you but next time we'll have to find adjacent seats at the pool so we can talk more. I had 5 pages left in my book when we got home so I finished it before going to bed.

Looking forward to next year and to staying in touch on the new thread - I have to go find that new thread....

It was really nice meeting you guys. Thanks for the wonderful FE gifts. We got home today, and first thing my girls ask for were the gifts they received from their new friends, lol.
I hope Jen and Webmeister had better luck than us getting on CC since they are doing the B2B.

Hey guys! Yes we finally got to Castaway Cay but Victoria was sick so we only were out for about 30 minutes. It is really nice and I hope to see more of it when I go back. Not sure when that will be but I have 2 cruises booked which I will use as dummy cruises until I know the best time of year I can leave my business. It was so much fun meeting you all! Husurdady....dear, I didnt have your room number and I never saw you again on the boat!!

We had a similar issue on the second ofour B2B cruise when we upgraded. It was challenging to get our new room# out to the FE group and their wireless internet is so slow it is almost non-existent.

I wonder if the kind folks at DCL would start coordinating with Dis'ers to maintain an FE list. Maybe not something in their computer, but maybe just be the 'keepers of the list' at the front desk.
Then, if an FE participant needed a copy of the list they could just provide their room# and after validating that their room is a participant, they could get the list from them. That way, all of the room #s would always be up to date.

Just a thought....

Yeah so on the 3 day we upgraded to Mark and shadow's room since it was available....has a huuuuge deck as you can see from Mark's pictures. Well, needless to say that when we unpacked our bags the deck was clean and awesome....by the time we got back from the fire drill, it was covered in lovebugs.
I ran into Johnny the stateroom dude and let him know. When we came back from dinner, he had hosed it off but apparently there were a few dozen hidden about. We also picked up a few dragonflies.
We weren't alone...when I was enjoying my evening cigar on deck 5 stbd, there were tons of them there as well.

By the time we stopped in Nassau, the bugs were mostly gone....however by the time we'd left, we had picked up a whole bunch of really pretty (but annoying) finches. They were all over the lifeboats outside on deck 5 and a few were flying around on our verandah/deck.

We didn't let it stop us from enjoying the amazing view backing into and pulling out of port. It was absolutely mind blowing!

It was! I was fortunate enough to see it and I was blown away. The only down side to it was that it is a solid railing thingie (can't think of the word). Mom is so short she couldnt see when she was sitting down. I have to admit, it was nice to be able to look down at the humongous 14 ft waves. bleck

For some reason, I really didnt get out of my stateroom that much> I wanted to do so much and thought we would be closing the ship down every night but Victoria didnt take to the lab as well as I thought she would and we were exhausted by 10. Mom swore we would never go cruising during hurricane season again! LOL

It will mainly depend on how quickly we can recover from the orders we put off and made while we were away. If we catch up pretty quickly, we just might go again.

I have two cruises booked for april but I am really not wanting to go back that soon. So I will move it. I just wonder about a 7 day. Doesnt anyone want to go on a 7 day cruise instead?

I would LOVE a Breezin to the Bahamas part 2!!!

Hey Shelly! Victoria didn't take to it as I thought she was! It was like she was bored or something. I kept saying "they are having the cooking class!" and she would say "nahhh I would rather be with you" which is just wonderful for me. It wasn't like I was doing anything else. I was just shocked because she is SUCH a social butterfly. After her and Dillon became friends, she would only go in there when he was in there.

:)Why 2 cruises in april? We booked a dummy in Dec.2011, and that one we will take our 7 day eastern cruise with in 2012 when the other new ship comes out. OH! the sept. 2011 cruise is now called ; SEPT. BREEZIN' on the DREAM..........nice name don't-U-think. I think it will be much cheaper to book a 7 day on the new ship for 2012 than the MAGIC in 2011. Greeting and Welcome back all,

Priya and I had a wonderful time Breezin to the Bahamas with you all.
Speaking on her behalf she had "BIG FUN, BIG BIG FUN" as she has told everyone back at home.

First I wanted to say how helpful and thankful for this group I was during the cruise. Pre-meeting folks on here and with the help of the Facebook page, really proved to be invaluable. Outside of our Fairy God parents (The Macks) and everyone else who provided helpful information prior to the trip. Meeting some of you in the Port was such a great way to start the trip and such a huge help.
While standing in line for check in Priya was supposed to be looking at the model ship or watching the TV, but someone skipped off, when I went to look for her Shelly told me "Priya is over there". How great was that, that Shelly was able to spot her and know me by our facebook photo to help me locate her.

While standing in line I saw the most darling face that I have been seeing while on the dis-boards.... It was Victoria...it was like seeing a movie star, I thought oh my that is Victoria (I knew it was her by her dress and hat :cutie:
Shortly after seeing Victoria, Jen spotted me and it was like we were long lost high school friends, we greeted each other and she introduced me to Victoria, and I introduced her to Priya....well lets just say after the introductions Victoria took Priya by the hand and skipped off to keep her company and play with her... (@Jen, Victoria will make a great big sister :goodvibes)

As most of you know the line was moving kind of slow and long at the Port, so while in line we ran into 3xthejoy and the triplets :dance3:, Priya meet the girls and after warming up to each other they were all laughing and giggling.

Once on board Jen sent me a text inviting Priya and I to join them for lunch, it was so nice to be able to have lunch with some friendly faces. Jen your family was so kind and welcoming to Priya and myself. Priya enjoyed Victoria and when I tell you they were just like BFF's that had know each other. Victoria even shared her food off her plate with Priya or allowed Priya to nibble on her corn-dog nuggets (Jen tell Victoria, Priya normally will not just dive into someone else plate and eat ....she has better table manners than that...or so I thought :headache:. Anyway lunch was great

Oh my this is turning out much longer than I thought. This really started out as being a thank you to all of you who were so kind, generous and creative in your giving of FE gifts to Princess and the Mommy.:wizard:

I really wanted to Thank each of you personally prior to leaving the ship but little miss excited got in each of her goody bags before I could see who it was from.:confused3

I have much more to say and share.... so stay tuned for part 2.... you will love to hear how smitten Priya became with Dillon :rolleyes1. And who was trying to score a smoothie from the Teen Loft.... Along with more thanks and re-caps

To be continued....:wizard:

BUT - I did want to hop on and say THANK YOU to each and everyone of you. I had so much fun on the cruise, even with the rockin' and a rollin' we were doing!

Both Dillon and Dakota had SO much fun on the cruise that I don't even think they noticed the rain and the waves!

The FE gifts were beyond my expectations. You all are so generous! It was such a great group of y'all on the ship. I felt like I was among friends wherever I went. I loved "bumping" into my DIS friends all over the ship!

The night at Wavebands will forever scar me :) I'll shy from any adult Scavenger Hunt forever more :lmao:

Yeah Dillon had a following! Victoria got to the point that she didnt do anything unless Dillon was doing it.

Hola all :yay:

Well back from the three week hiatus . Quentina it was so cool running into you at AKV I wish we could have spent more time but I (Scott) was exhausted. Your kids are adorable.
I would like to personally thank all of you for the kindness and the FE gifts and Magic2go i'm so glad that Damon and Ambyr were able to meet Dillon and Dakota they had a blast.

I am sorry Vicky and myself weren't able to sit down with some of you but the first day I was a little under the weather and we were kind of lost. It was the first time on vacation we only seen are kids in the morning and at Dinner. Mom had some problems with it. So I am going to get her a puppy. I wouldn't have done the trip any other way. You all are truly amazing families and it was a pleasure to have met you. Mark and Joy me and Vicky loved sitting with you guys and getting to know you (joy Vicky is bummed you live so far away she would love you as a neighbor and mark to of course).

By the way mark when i told my son what me and you were talking about outside the spa he was mad at himself that he ran off and wished he would have made the time to talk to you . Maybe he can chat with you over the internet sometime. thank you all again.

Thank you all Again
