I am so excited for my first Disney Cruise, and since I can't find a thread for our dates, I guess I'll start one ;)

I'll be cruising with DD (11) and DS (9); unfortunately DH will be stuck at home due to work constraints :surfweb:, but encouraged us to go anyway...great guy, I know!!

Hope to find some fellow cruisers for our dates here on the Boards, and am sure I'll have lots of questions as well.

Hi....
Second Cruise. Was going to travel with my 2 middle children but have decided now to go with my mom and youngest DD (5) for her birthday!
Decided on an inside stateroom on Deck 6 due to fact that we had a verandah last time but didn't use it enough to make it worth the extra $1000.
Looking forward to some quality "me" time away while dd is in Oceaneer's club

Hi everyone!!! :thumbsup2

We are booked to join you all. It will be me (Joleen 36) DS12 (Seth 12yr), DS1 (Jackson will be 1 1/2yr), DD (Sailor will be just over 7 mo). It will also be my mother, my grandmother and hopefully my sister and her two kids ages 6 and 12.

We just got off of the Western Oct 3rd. and are hoping to save up well for the Panama that we booked while on board. We took another 4 night last year. That is the extent of our sailing trips. Hoping to add many more.

It is freezing here in Colorado. COLD weather and some snow.
Can’t wait to get to know everyone.

We are also with you Me(Ellen 41), DH (Marc 42), DD13 (Leontine) and DD8 (Alexandra). We are firsttimers from Europe, never cruised before so we are exited.

Hello everyone! Count us in! It will be me (Charlene 40), DS (Trevor 14), and my mom (Judy). This will be our 6th cruise and we just booked #7, maiden voyage of the Disney Dream! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Charlene, you're so lucky being already able to book for the Dream! Have you been on this cruise before?
If so what do you advise for the Nassau part?

Yes, I am super excited about being on the MV of the Dream! Are you going to book this one? I have been on the Wonder before, but it's been several years. The past few have been on the Magic. The last time we went to Nassau we just took a cab over to Atlantis and spent a few hours there. I'm not sure what we're going to do this time. Can't wait, though!

Will be me, Angie (38), DH Mike (36), DD Lauren (10), DD Erin (8), and DS Evan (5). Will be 2nd cruise with kids and 4th cruise for hubby and I. Never on Disney though. I'm a huge fan of Disney but DH could do without. We're going to spend a few days at the World before the cruise. I'm so excited! Kids don't even know yet.

I'd also like to know what to do in Nassau. Never been either and really don't want to spend $50/person for anything. Any ideas for a cheaper day?

good to see we're getting a few more folks signed up for this cruise :cool1:

Sonogal: my DD (age 11) will be excited to hear that you have a daughter near her age--not sure how you're keeping it a secret though--I'd be bursting at the seams! I have seen on other threads here that Cabbage Beach is a low cost option on Nassau--apparently you can get there via taxi, it's a relatively uncrowded public beach according to the person who posted it. We are seriously thinking about the sea lion encounter--not sure we can resist that opportunity :). I'm just hoping the weather will be warm :confused3

This will be our first Disney Cruise. We have done all the other major lines and couldn't pass up this price and a chance to see how Disney does a cruise! Do meet and greets get planned here? Does Disney even give a room for one? I'm used to Cruise Critic and the roll calls over there..is this similar?

Looks like we are still going to be on this cruise after all. I have TRIED but just can't seem to CANCEL it.... so Looks like myself(38), dd (5) and ds (3) will be joining you all after all. My dd may have to stay in the younger OC group with my son, but she really won't mind...
Looking forward still to reading a good adult novel with NO pictures!

Hi Doris,
I guess this is roughly the equivalent of the roll calls on Cruise Critic--I've never been over there :rotfl:

This is my first cruise, and I am still a relative newbie here on the DISboards. I started the thread, but am not quite sure what is supposed to happen next :lmao:

Right now it looks like we have 7 disers/families signed up:
msnoble (mom, DD11, DS9)
tigger2on (mom, DD5, DS3)
familyfun5 (mom, DS12, DS1, DD7mos, DGM, DGGM, DA and 2kids ages 6,12)
allesma (mom, dad, DD13, DD8)
cruisinlady (mom, DS14, DGM)
sonogal (mom, dad, DD10, DD8, DS5)
DMRick (??)

As far as meet and greets, I think if we want to all meet up onboard we just pick a time/place and meet there informally.

Ideas, anyone?

Looks like we will be "single" moms for the cruise.... I know my DD(5) will love the clubs... not so sure about DS(3). Hoping to get DD to stay in the 3-4 yr old group with him as she will only just have turned 5.
What cabin are you in? What is you dinner seating... main or second?
Maybe we can hang out when our kids are off on their own!

We don't have a cabin assigned yet--we have a cat. 12 gty, but I'm hoping we might be upgraded (tho not holding my breath for an upgrade :) ). We have main seating for dining, no way my kids could do the late seating. I'm not honestly sure how much my kids will do the clubs, I'm hoping at least some.

I think hanging out would be fun--figure it would be fun to find someone to help me take advantage of those "2 for 1" yummy adult beverages :lmao: Maybe we could get cruisinlady and/or familyfun5 to join us--they appear to be travelling "single" as well :goodvibes

I'm not a single Mom, but Hubbie and I would probably like to join in the evenings. We have late seating as main was not available anymore. We have a cat 9 booked, like to have a porthole. Hopefully the kids will do some time in the clubs so I can try my new e-reader.

For the Dis-meeting we could met at the kids pool so the kids could have their swim (if the weather allows this) and we do the meet and greet? Kids could get to know each other before going to the clubs etc.

Second family from Europe/Netherlands signing up for Disney cruise meet (sailing febr. 21th)! We (DW/DH) have two sons, one son/21 is taking a week off from college. The other son is 13. This will be our third cruise, we're still exited as we were the first time!

Yes, welcome rotterdam!

I booked our excursions late last night (right at the stroke of midnight EST :) ), but because I am traveling without my husband no Palo for me this trip. I also registered the kids for the Oceaneer's Lab...now I guess I just have to wait for a cabin assignment!

Allesma--I think meeting up is great, though I'm not sure how crowded the pool will be especially as the afternoon wears on. Does anyone know about the pool or if there is somewhere else to meet up? Also meeting up in the evening sounds fun; I wasn't sure if you and your husband would want to hang around with us husband-less moms :rotfl:

Looks Like I will be lining up with 2 VERY tired little people to try and change out seating to main. My son really does NOT do well after 8pm... I mean, if we can't change it, I won't be eating dinners at all.... except by the pool. He'll only just be over 3. My 5 yr old can run on empty for weeks...
Plus he has told me to make sure that there is a big bed so he can sleep with me... doesn't he realize that this is a rare opportunity when I get to sleep alone????

We booked bikes at Castaway Cay,and the brunch. I do not expect us to do a lot at Nassau , we probably will be back at the boat soon. As this is our first cruise I do not want to schedule to much. I signed DD8 up for the club.

Option or a meet-and-greet could also be deck 7 aft?

Bnoble, Marc has been in High School with 40 boys among 700 girls (actually learned to cook pretty well there) so is used to lots of women. At home he's always surrounded by his girls and their girlfriends.

Msnoble...
what excursions did you book? :O)

We're going to do the Blackbeard's Cay excursion in Nassau, and if there's time/we're up for it we might run over to the Pirate Museum afterwards (though that seems unlikely).

At CC we're doing the extreme getaway thing--the bikes/float/snorkels rental along with the Stingray experience. My DD is allll about the snorkeling ;). I'm not sure we'll do it all, but didn't want to decide for it later and then have it booked up.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: This cracked me up!!!

I think the Deck 7 aft area sounds promising for a meetup--with Topsiders as a backup if weather is bad? What time do these things usually happen?

I'm starting to get really excited for our first cruise--how to wait out the next 74 days??!!

Hi all. I never thought of renting the bikes early (we'll bring a cheap blow up from Walmart or dollar store and our own snorkel stuff). Do they usually run out of them? Do they assign you a time when you sign up?
Thanks.

tigger2on
12-09-2009, 11:45 PM
I don't think the whole bike thing is an issue as they are only rent them out for an hour and they have TONS! you may have to wait a bit though...
I think the issue with the Extreme Package is the string ray thing and snorkel as they only have a certain # of spots per hour.
I am doing that too when the kids are at Skuttle's Landing.
Nothing in Nassau...but hoping to meet my friend Joe for lunch... he works there.

Hey the 4 day cruise after us is doing this... what do you think?
Here is the explanation they gave
"Hopefully I can explain this - each cabin has a fish mounted on the wall next to the door - DCL uses it to deliver notes and such. DIS members who participate in the exchange make or buy a "holder" or such that has pockets on it - most people have a pocket for each person in the cabin, but some just have one large pocket for everyone. Then each family decides on what they what to "exchange" or give to the other people participating. You can do one gift person or one family gift, you can do something each day of the cruise or just on one day - it is really up to each individual person - the gifts don't have to cost alot and can be store bought or hand made - whatever you want - there are no rules. If you do a search on the cruise forum you will see what others have done and get ideas on what the extender looks like. For our last cruise we gave out hershey cand bars (we are from Hershey) wrapped with a special wrapper designed for our cruise. We only did the 3-night crusie but got a ton of gifts - then you decide when you want to hand out your gifts, and try not to be caught. Hopefully that all makes sense - maybe someone else can help with the details a little more.

I will compile a list of those who want to participate, their cabin numbers and the names of everyone in the cabin along with the ages on kids.

It really is alot of fun - we had a blast running all over the ship and delivery our gifts and my DD just loved checking for gifts every time we returned to the cabin."
Just a thought.. as there are many of us so far..

We'll be kidless.grankidless, but we'd enjoy surprising some of the other kids, as long as I don't have to tote too much stuff LOL.

We did this when we realized people in the room next to us were from the Dis at Pop one year. Had a great time.

Can you use your own inflatable things? I was told due to safety hazards... the only things they allow are floatie arm bands and clear tubes like theirs so that the lifeguards can see.

DMRick
12-12-2009, 08:34 AM
We've always used our own at Disney and the lifeguards have been fine about it. We also use them at other cruise islands. I'll try to buy the clear ones this trip. So I guess we'll find out. Does anyone know this for sure?

It's just my husband and I. We are taking the 3 day and then the 4 day.

On Cruise Critic meets, for most ships, we email someone on the ship and they give us a room to meet in, supply us with coffee/tea/juice and donuts/snacks and often send in officers/housekeeper head/kitchen person, to chat with us. I have run swaps, where each cabin brings something either from their home state (under $10) or something for traveling, or well, just something, and we have the swap. We then, meet and greet each other LOL.

These are our first Disney cruises, so I have no idea how they usually go.

I do plan on enjoying watching all the kids have fun on the ship. Does Disney usually put couples by themselves for diner or do we share with a family, or other couples?

We're doing Blackbeard's Cay too!

I think the gift exchange thing for each stateroom would be really neat. It would be fun to dream up something from our geographical areas to exchange. My one question with that is........ I would like to upgrade at the port, how would we then convey the new cabin number to the rest of the group? Ideas??

tigger2on
12-17-2009, 09:35 PM
Someone upgraded before too and made a magnet with their new room # on the previously assigned one. Or if we have a "meet" on the 1st day... you can update us all! What room are you in now?

Hi all! We just booked our 3rd Disney Cruise - we are so excited! So far we've been on a 3 day & 7 day and are now looking forward to the 4 day cruise. We are Joe, Shelly, Kaylei (6), and Brandon (3) from Ohio. The last 2 cruises Brandon had to go into Flouder's Reef Nursery - looking forward to him going into the Club - hopefully he will stay with his sister while we catch our breath & relax. Anyone doing fish extenders on this cruise?

Looking forward to chatting!

What are fish extenders?

We will be staying in Orlando at the Nickelodeon hotel for 4 nights pre-cruise. I am looking to book a limo preferably R/T to port and back to MCO. Is there anyone on this cruise that would like to share the limo/costs with us? There are 5 of us. I've mainly been looking at 8-10 passenger limos but of course if we got a larger group, we'd get a larger vehicle.
Hummer limo anyone? :woohoo:

PM me if you are interested and we'll go from there. Hope everyone is not too snowed under.

We will do some shopping on Saturday evening or on Sundaymorning. Some drinks and brita bottles. We will join in the Fish exentender and bring you some typically dutch or stuff rom Disney Paris.

Hi All,
We'll be joining you on this cruise!

It will be me and my 2 daughters: Karen will be 9 and Brynn turns 6 just a few days before we sail. Over New Year's weekend my friend Kim decided to join us, so since we had previously booked a Cat 11 sleeping 3, we "had" to upgrade, and the next category available was a Cat 5! Poor us! It will be our first cruise with a veranda - so excited!

We'd love to do the Fish Extender thing too - I've done that on 2 previous cruises and it's a lot of fun!

Ok... so here is the list of people who are interested in participating the Fish Extender activity for the cruise....
Since we are only a 4 day cruise maybe we should pick a day that each will do a drop so that it's not all on one day and every group doesn't have to bring much! Also I think it can be an individual choice for either a group surprise or individual surprises left in the extenders...

We'll be joining you! I just made reservations today! I got 2 GTY12's for "dirt cheap." Well cheap for Disney anyway! I'll be curious where I end up room wise; this cruise appears to be not that filled....at least by my guess.
We are a family of 5 - so we have 2 rooms - I have a 14 year old boy, 5 year old girl, and 1 1/2 yr old boy. The only "unfortunate" part is that we are waitlisted for the main seating...I'm not sure how the heck we will manage to eat at 8p otherwise; my 2 little ones are in bed by 8p....I'm not fretting just yet though!

Now comes the more stressful part of lining up airline tix and car rentals...sigh...the fun part was booking the cruise!:rotfl:

I just looked at my reservation and I was bumped up to a Cat 9, too! Still Deck 2 - GREAT! I feel so blessed already! WOOHOO!

On a more serious note, what kind of car rentals did you guys find for the week? I'm starting the not so fun part of booking air/car and WOWser, cars are expensive that week....never had that issue in the last 4 years traveling this same week to Orlando. I'm not interested in the Disney tfers b/c we are a family of 5 and that would be $$ - plus we need a car for the day before and days after the cruise. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

We are booked on this cruise - dd(6) ds(11) hubby and I. Did the Magic with DS, now it is DD turn to go. Both registered in Oceaneer Lab and Club and are excited. We have late seating. Booked on an inside - no upgrade yet...but hoping

We are flying in on Sat staying near airport - rented a car at MCO for return at the port on Sun - cheaper than a cab or transfer.

After our cruise we are staying 2 nights at Cocoa Beach and then do Carnival Dream Cruise for 1 week.

Can't wait...fingers crossed for an upgrade and 45 days to go

Feb.20. Resort day... Breakfast at Boma & Dinner at O'hana. Wash all our stuff for Cruise and pack!:goodvibes
Feb. 21. Up and out early to go to Port with Sonogal & Family.

Hi from The U.K. We will be joining you for this cruise we as Hubbie Gary daughters Amy 14 Ellie 13 and me Tracey.
This will be our 3rd Disney cruise have done 2 3 day cruises staying in secret porthole rooms. This time we booked a cat 12 but have found out we have been upgraded to a cat 9 on deck 1 cabin 1060:cool1:.
Am chuffed as were happy to be in a 12 as it was an edition to our holiday which was a welcome surprise so to get a 9 which means a split level bathroom with 3 ladies is a real bonus.
Anyway can't wait are doing lot's of firsts, first time on late dining but the girls are older now, first time at Palo so so excited and this will be the first time the girls will be in the older clubs......if they go!!
Am a bit confused though as am not sure where my 13 year old is supposed to go?
have looked and some say the age group activities are recommended up to age 12 then it jumps from 14-17:confused3 .
Probably me not readinf things right too excited you see:goodvibes
Take care everyone
Tracey:thumbsup2

Welcome Aboard Tracey!!!
I think 13 is the age of choice... I would ask onboard but as they are being so leaniant with the younger kids, I can't see them being overly strict with the older kids...

Thanks for the nice welcome Tigger2on.
Your plans look fun . We will be flying out on the 5th of feb and will be spending a week on RC freedoom of the seas then hitting Disney and Universal
am hoping to be in the Magic Kingdom for Ellies 13 th Birthday.
Is a bigger trip then we usually have as it was my 40th last year hence the 2 cruises it's not something we do on a regular basis:goodvibes.
Anyway we love Disney and have been visiting since the girls were 4.
Would love to be DVC Owners but time is just not right for us at the moment, one day perhaps will have to hear what The DVC Animal kingdom is like I bet you can't wait:).
Oh well is snowing big time over here at the moment and we are not geared up for it at all so b4 it comes in any heavier I am going to get some food shopping as its due to get worse over the weekend.
Take care

Hi Tracey...
I want to hear all about FReedom of the Seas when we are on the boat. Would LOVE to hear a comparison of the 2.
We were at AKL villas last year with the kids and they loved the new pool area at Kidani. The only 2 downsides of that loaction to me are: 1) it is a long bus ride to all other parks besides AK, and 2) they REALLY need a quick service at the Kidani lodge area!
Worked out dining today... could NOT get anything at Chef Mickey's! grrrrrr
Thursday: either Boma or Whispering Canyon
Friday: Crystal Palace
Saturday: O'Hana
We will use our quick service credits for Dinner on Friday at MK, probably Cosmic Rays and breakfast Saturday at Boma.
Leaving Sunday early for the port so i will just grab the kids something quick as we can eat on the boat around 11:30.
Where is Freedom of the Seas taking you??

I've been away from the boards since before the holiday, so "Welcome!" to the disers who've signed on since then!

I was keeping everything crossed when I read that many of you had received your room assignments--and :woohoo: we were upgraded from cat 12 gty to a Category 9 on Deck 2 (room #2032)! I'm really getting excited now!!

Also, thanks Tigger2on for organizing the FE exchange. Please count us in as well (1 adult, 2 kids DD age 11, DS age 9). I love the idea of everyone picking a day to cover, that would make life much easier all around. I'm guessing the days would be Sunday-Weds? Do people usually do exchanges on the embarkation day?

As far as an embarkation day meet-up location, would either the Wavebands lounge or Promenade Lounge work? They are both on Deck 3. I've never cruised with Disney, so not sure what the best locale for everyone to meet might be.

Wavebands might be being used for dining changes. I am still thinking either the secret deck off of Deck 7 or how about the sports deck so the kids can run around... though Promenade Lounge may work too.We also need to pick a time.... do we want to try and get together for the bon voyage party... or meet before. After might be difficult due to different dining/shows. Ideas anyone?
Will add you to the list. :)

Hi All! We can't wait to be joining you on this cruise as well. It will be myself (Donna 44), DH (Jim 45), and DD (Alyssa 8). It is our 3rd trip to Disney as a family, but a 1st time cruise for all of us. I have finally read all the posts on this thread and enough of this site to make me bleary eyed (but VERY VERY excited). I think it would be fun to be a part of the fish extender group and would enjoy a meet and greet too. I will re-read the info about the fish extender, but if anyone has any ideas/guidelines I would be greatful. Also, we're staying for a couple of days at the the Bay Lake Towers before the cruise. I'm trying to decide between hiring someone to drive us (more $$) and renting a car to go hotel to cruise and cruise to airport (more aggrevation?) Any thoughts either way??

Thanks Suzanne. Personally I think it would work best if we each have a day picked/assigned ahead of time for distributing the FE goodies. I have a feeling that the time will fly once onboard, and I can just see myself running around the boat on the last day/evening trying to get everything delivered :rotfl: Plus that way each day will be certain to be 'covered'. Just MHO though :goodvibes We'd be happy to take Monday.

2 questions about the FE exchange:
1)does anyone have any food allergies?
2)would it be possible to indicate gender of the kids (some of my ideas are somewhat gender-specific)? If not no big deal, I can work around it. [mine are D11/S9]

I'm going to sign them up for the FE as a surprise so I will take care of their delivery as well. I'll just plan to do it on the day at sea. Will post stateroom number when I know it.

Will be Mom Jean, DD10 Katie, and DD7 Libby.

If you would typecast yourself as a disneycharacter who would you be?

Let's start wiht my family:

DH Baloo

DD8 Jane
Myself Mrs Potts

Oh and we gave ourselves a cruise name: The Flying Dutch(wo)men as DH and DD13 love to fly (in a Cessna), and we are Dutch. (Doormagnet...)

I'm curious if you want to share which chararcters match with your familiemembers....

Ok I'll play too :) . Though I have to admit to overthinking this a bit :lmao:

Me (Maureen, mom): Kanga (from Winnie the Pooh), or maybe Mrs. Dr. Possible (from Kim Possible), or maybe Wendy from Peter Pan (see how decisive I can be?! :rotfl:)

D11 (Erica): Belle

S9 (Russell): either Russell from Up (but skinnier :)) or Dash from The Incredibles

:beach:Hi all,

I onvinced my husband that ANOTHER Disney Cruise was just what the kids and I needed!

I'd been on a few Carnival cruises when I was single (mid-90's) and we went on our first Disney Cruise in May 2008 and have been HOOKED ever since.

We did February vacation 2009 in a suite and that was an INCREDIBLE experience, then we got a wonderful offer to cruise again in November 2009 and I just totally couldn't resist the opportunity to book for this February vacation 2010. The winter in NH is SOOO dreary and although my kids love to ski -- I NEED some SUN and FUN! :cool1:

During our November 3 night cruise, they aired Christmas Carol the movie and we also saw a "Premear at Sea" of Old Dogs (John Travolta and Robin Williams). It was played just after midnight and the large theater was filled. My son fell asleep, but thought he was SO cool to be up so late "at a movie".

Both of my kids LOVE the Oceaneers Club and the Lab, especially on the island.

We've done a few excursions -- Atlantis, Dolphin Encounter and so on this cruise when in the Bahamas will most likely stay on the ship. If the kids are in the club that afernoon, I might step off and go to the small shopping area downtown, but will also be completely content sitting poolside with a nice tropical drink! :beach:

I am just SOOO darn excited! I'm not used to traveling with the kids solo, but they're used to flying and love the Disney cruise so I think all should go well!

Hope to be able to meet everyone! Safe travels!

Welcome Kerri! I am sensing a theme to this cruise meet--several of us are moms traveling as the solo parent with kids. I wonder how common that is? I am also excited that one of my friends has decided to come along on this cruise with her DD (leaving her DH and DS at home too :lmao:).

I know *exactly* what you mean about needing to get away from the winter--it is gray and cold here in Michigan too, which is why I have to head South every February...let's just hope the weather is actually 'southern' by the time we get there!

We are also dubbing if we are going to dress up for 1 evening for the family picture. We've already booked a med cruise in August with 2 semi formal and 1 formal night so perhaps we will skip te formal this cruise.

I always tend to overpack....

Hi Ellen...
It depends on the age group as the older kids will move around like they do on the ship. Otherwise, Scuttle's Landing is beach area away from the water where they run the Oceaneer's Club and I think Lab, have their daily programming. They do NOT take the kids swimming but they do have water activities. My kids will spend some time there when I want to go for a good swim or bike ride.... but they have to be with you to go in the actual water.

I was there in 2001 but I think the only change since then is the new "No Age Restrictions"

Thnx for the explanation about the child clubs at the Island. I'm still doubting if we can send our DD13 Leontine to the teenager club. She's pretty tall for her age 1.74 cm but still very young at heart. A very clever special child with some special needs and somtimes pretty naive...I think I'll have a chat with the manager from Aloft first so we can speak about this before registering. Normally she always loves to join our youngest Alexandra in all kinds of activities during our vacations so I expect myself dubbing until we're at the boat.

Have a Disney Day....

Apart from the layout of the document, it is the same as before however, I think they have simplified it so it is easier to go through and understand.

There is limited supervision in the teen areas compared to the kids clubs. However, they will let her try and see if she is ok in them. You however, may be more comfortable in the younger groups as she will be accepted in them as well now due to Disney having lifted most of the age restrictions to the groups. I have a severely disabled 13 yr old girl who is NOT cruising this time, but when we did go, I was told I would have to stay with her for 1 - 1. I probably spent a total of 1/2 an hour the first evening and just dropped her off the rest of our cruise. They loved her and did all they could for her. \

My DD has her costume as Elizabeth Swann from POTC which she wants to bring. I have a costume, but not sure I'll bring it. DS had me make him a tshirt with a Mickey head with the POTC skull and torches in it, and beyond that he might wear a pirate hat. Overall we'll probably dress up a little, but not a whole lot. We are also not planning to do a ton for the dress-up night, since my DH won't be cruising with us (not any reason to get a 'family' portrait if the whole family isn't there! :))

Not sure what I'll do as it has a tulle skirt and will be huge too..

Suzanne,
Very nice you would make the girls the T-shirt, but the clothing is not the poblem more the space it takes up! We visit Disney Paris a lot and last time they chose the brown pirate hat with the red hair, and he velvet hat for daddy with a red bandana. So we have the stuff, just wondering what you all would do. Are you planning to go to the party?

The Dis meeting
I still like the idea of meeting at the 7th Deck, what time would be good, perhaps some time before sail away party and then going to the Deck Party with the ones that want to go to the Deck party? But as a fist timer a do not know if this is a god timing, what do you think?

I am hoping to take the kids to the party however, it depends on my son and if he wants to go or go to bed? he's only 3.... :(
I think the Dis Meet would be good if we all tried to make a quick appearance around 3pm on Deck 7 before the mandatory life boat drill... that way we all know who we are... then try an do a couple more mini-meets??? maybe one at the Pirate Party, Castaway Cay and/or at sea day?? These could also be our "meetings with drinks"... :rolleyes1

Sorry I've been MIA since my original post. It's been a crazy busy weekend! LOVING that there will be a bunch of solo Moms traveling!

Regarding Pirate night, a LOT of people (full families) dress up, but there's a very large amount of people that don't. So you'll feel comfortable either way. We never have, just because it'd be that much more to pack, but they do sell some items in the gift shop on the ship if you don't want to pack/bring stuff from home.

About the kids clubs -- the #1 reason I booked the cruise is because of how much my kids LOVE the kids clubs. We considering a trip to WDW but there's just so much to do on the cruise (and a lot of opportunity to just relax) that I KNEW it was the best choice for us.

Something to consider if your concerned about your teen going to Aloft (if they're open to the idea) is to put them in the Oceaneer Lab. There's a LOT for the kids to do in there -- almost too much, there's so many options and that is completely supervised. They CAN self-check out if a certain age (FYI) as well. Otherwise their leaving can be managed by their parent if you so choose.

I will admit, on our first cruise, I was surprised when on Disney's island that the kids clubs don't have any bodies of water that the kids have access too (ie. either a splash zone or shallow pool; if not a shady spot on the beach) but I do understand that's probably intentional to avoid any liability issues around water safety. They do have water available for the kids to drink, and I think they also play some water related games -- they just don't take them swimming either on the ship (when in the club during the day) OR on the island (FYI). :teacher:

If you are able to, head to Parrot Cay for the buffet lunch when you first board the ship. The Beach Blanket Bingo Buffet (I think it's called) up on Deck 9 is tasty and has a lot of options, but the Parrot Cay buffet is nice and less chaotic.

My kids have actually skipped the Pirate Party 3 times....they love the kids clubs THAT much! I'm hoping they'll check it out this year, it's a lot of fun! :yay:

Sorry I've been MIA since my original post. It's been a crazy busy weekend! LOVING that there will be a bunch of solo Moms traveling!

Regarding Pirate night, a LOT of people (full families) dress up, but there's a very large amount of people that don't. So you'll feel comfortable either way. We never have, just because it'd be that much more to pack, but they do sell some items in the gift shop on the ship if you don't want to pack/bring stuff from home.

WOW! I wasn't aware of that -- what wonderful news! My kids were bummed out that Pelican Plunge wasn't open when we were there in November. I just googled it and saw ALL of the planned enhancements -- it's going to make a wonderful beach day even THAT much more enjoyable! :cloud9:

Hi there- I also have been too busy lately and although I've had a few minutes to read the thread, I haven't taken the time to respond. I also have to say being a "newbie" to cruising, I'm a little overwhelmed by all there is to think about!:scared1:
Anyway, I just bought the stuff to make my fish extender (but I don't sew, so lets hope it stays intact!), but I would still love to hear about gifts people have given or received in the past. My 8 year old is a DD: I know someone was asking because their gifts would be gender specific. Our cabin number is 2570. You can just assign me a day that works!
Now for some questions. Should I be expecting documents soon? All I have so far is my reservation confirmation and the Ship and Shore vacation guide.
I've heard people talking about hoping for upgrades at the time of boarding and am assuming it's cheaper than originally booking the upgraded room?? Also, what is this I hear about 2 for 1 drink specials? I am travelling w/my husband, but I can sneak away for a couple of hours while DH and DD spend some quality time together, or while my daughter is at the kids club and DH is enjoying quiet time. So let's not just assume that only the single moms would be interested, LOL!! Can't wait, 33 days and counting!!

I put you down for Castaway Cay day for distribution.
No all ladies and gents are welcome to join in all activities including 2 for 1 drinks. LOL
Yes upgrades are usually cheaper at port but limited. It is usually the higher and more expensive categories left so you can still be looking at $600 for an upgrade if you are in a Cat 12. :( However, it never hurts to ask as if someone bumps up to a higher cabin, then other cats open up too! :)

That is were we are aiming for, so we can have some adult dining time when the girls are done. Now cross my fingers that Alexandra will like the lab. She's speaking a few words English now but always makes friends so we have good hope for it.
If not, it's no big deal cause we also like family quality time, and I understood that if you are willing to participate, you can also have a nice time with your servrs and dishmates.
We actually asked to be placed at a large table to meet new people who are alse Disneyfans (at home some collegues and friends do not quite understand why we're again doing Disney and at a boat, after numerous visits to DLP and some visits to the World. Nice to share a mutual interest.

Have a nice day

Got our docs today! Came by UPS. Nice little booklet with all the info included. No upgrade but going to try at port. That would open up a Cat. 4 for someone else- there's 5 of us. So just get in line behind me. :goodvibes

I am curious also what others have given as FE gifts. Can someone list possibilities for those of us that are less than creative. Received our FE last week and it's so cute!

Last question, can we have a current update of number of families participating in FE? I want to be totally prepared. Thanks!!

Unfortunately it is a risk of traveling with thousands of people in tight places.
We are taking loads of precautions though... lysol wipes, hand sanitizer pump and mini ones, gravol, benedryl, motrin, electrolyte powder, barf bags (LOL) from the plane!
Since H1N1 scare, my kids have been taught to wash their hands/ sanitize them ritually, cough in their sleeve and tell an adult when they feel sick right away.
Hopefully... the weather will warm up and scare the germs away!

Hi everyone! We are late to join the party, but are so excited to get out of this rainy, gray weather and into the sunshine!

We have 3 families travelling together on this cruise. Us (me, DH and DS 3), Friends 1 (DH, DW, DS5, DD3) and Friends 2 (DH, DW, DD3). My family has cruised Disney several times, but the other 2 are newbies. We had a pre-cruise party last week and made our own Konk Coolers.... mmmmmm!

If it's not too late, we'd like to join the Fish Extender game. I've never done one of those before, but think the kids would all love it!

Right now, our cabins are all over the place. I called to get them nearer to each other and cat 11, 10 and 6 are all gty, so hopefully some folks are going to start seeing some pixie dust flying soon! :wizard:

Okay, I'm off to start working on the door decorations. Getting excited that its just a month away!

Can you let me know what your cabin numbers are when you get them for those participating please?

I think the Dis Meet would be good if we all tried to make a quick appearance around 3pm on Deck 7 before the mandatory life boat drill... that way we all know who we are... then try an do a couple more mini-meets??? maybe one at the Pirate Party, Castaway Cay and/or at sea day?? These could also be our "meetings with drinks"... :rolleyes1

Since we are only a 4 day cruise maybe we should pick a day that each will do a drop so that it's not all on one day and every group doesn't have to bring much! Also I think it can be an individual choice for either a group surprise or individual surprises left in the extenders...

I'm trying to be very careful about how much info I put on here- I don't think my kids know this site but you never know. Our two oldest daughters are best friends and neither knows the other family is going. We are so excited for the surprise. In fact, her kids don't even know they're going anywhere yet. Right now we are in 2618, so if cabins change, could someone let me know (of course mine might change, as I hope to have just one cabin (if I can change at the port) from the week before cruise and this week). Home and tired. I see why God gives babies to the young LOL!
Looking at page 4, I see ages of kids and if b/g, but no kids names. So, does no one do personalized items for the kids?
Ours are Kaylei (girl 6) Brandon (boy 3) his birthday is February 20th

Welcome, Wuggy!

Erica H has the two kiddos (DD3 Julia-- turning 3 the day we leave port canaveral, DS5 Ryan), Erica B just has one (DD3 Madeline). Ours is DS3 Mason.

So much to get done in the next 3 weeks.... and I'll be travelling for work several times, so I really need to get a plan!
Our son is turns 3 the day before we cruise it would be nice to have a Birthday party for them does anyone know if they offer something like that on the ship?

My 2 kids are having birthday celebrations on different days at dinner servings as this is why we are doing the cruise.
Tell your TA or call DCL and add a birthday celebration to your reservation. I think they get a special cupcake at dinner with a candle or sparkler!

There are a couple places, but the one I like is, you get off the ship, go right towards the straw market and about 2 blocks from the ship go left up an alley way that goes through to the main street, and it's on the right. About 10 minuts from the ship. It's nice and fast. I think it was $2.00 for a half hour. Or it may even have been less. Sometimes I can pick it up on my notebook free outside of the coffee shop. It might have been a starbucks.

I don't have kids, and I don't want any fe items, but keep my room number (unless it changes..trying to get one room for both weeks) so someone can let me know if the people with kids numbers change (since I have stuff for the kids). My room number is 2618 on this sail. Maybe there can be a star by the adults only names, saying will be at meet and greet so we'll still no where the non fe people are?

Is there one person who is for sure keeping their room so they can be the contact person?

You are absolutely correct. My apologies, and many thanks to Suzanne (tigger2on) for her time and effort in tracking and coordinating the FE efforts. I do have a favor to ask. I know I said I could give out my FE gifts anyday, but I would like to do it the day we embark if that's possible. Most likely, I will be including something the kids may enjoy in Castaway Cay so would ike everyone to get their gifts before that.

I have sent a PM to everyone with the list I put together, and I included Doris (DMRick) since I believe she is also thinking about distributing some things for the kids. If you don't get the PM for some reason let me know.

I know there was a question about having a contact person in case room numbers change; I can be this person, but is it possible to call other staterooms on the boat? If so, maybe the folks who change rooms can just leave a phone msg for the rest of us as to what their new room numbers are?

I'm planning to have a white board on my door and folks could leave msgs there...but I've read elsewhere on the boards that the occasional unsupervised teenager has been known to tamper with the whiteboards...I'm not sure how reliable that or post-its would be. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everyone will be settled by the meet & greet so there won't be any worries!

Are you going to participate in an excursion?

We planned the dolphin encounter on the nassau day
and bike riding on Castaway cay

What are your plans?

Do you have planns for the Sea Day? For the most recent navigator look here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-stateroom-navigator.htm

Perhaps a second group meeting?

Oh Thank you! Their names are Samantha Perez & Nicholas Perez. We are in room #6054
I've added a couple of items for your kids as well.
I hope everyone either comes to the M & G on deck 7 at 3, or lets MsNoble know if your room changes, because one of my items is personalized, and if I can't find you, I can't get it to you.
For now, my room number is on the list that was sent around, but I don't know it it will change, so you may not be able to find me. I do plan on letting MsNoble know if I change, so she can let me know if you change LOL.

Why would they erase the website? As long as it's nothing you would benefit from, or you aren't a TA advertising, they have always allowed websites.

Well apparently not from the website I found it on. It's easy enough to find..just google four day navigator wonder and it comes righ tup.

Thanks..looks like that website is allowed. The one I found was XXX'd out.

We had originally planned on doing the Segways, but instead we booked them for a 'back-stage' tour at Celebration, after we get off the ship.

Well, that sounds very good! We also hope to do a Segway tour in Future when Alexandra is a bit older. Wat are you going to visit back-stage at Celebration?

why they don't allow it. I think it has something to do with conflict of interests as there is a navigator posted from Jan 10/10 here on the website.

Looks like I'll be skipping a sit down dinner on dress up night due to the fact that my son wants to see Toy Story , The Musical and my daughter wants to partake in the Royal Ball at the Oceaneer's Club. Sooooo we will grab an quick bit, go to the 6:15 Toy Story show and then up to Oceaneer's club for Cinderella fun! Plus they really want to eat dinner one night in the club so they miss the Pirate's Dinner too.... :O(
I am HOPING to get either the PTTA or the APPT for dining as I really want my kids to experience the magic of Animator's Palette. :wizard:
At least I have a 2 in 3 chance!:thumbsup2
Guess I'll send myself some pixie dust...:tink::tink:

BTW... forgot to add link to Facebook Page yesterday... but just did it! Sorry for the delay!

We've done them before there..they take you in back of celebration, where there are wonderful walking paths with bridges. It was the best segway tours we have done. They let us open up and go pretty fast. They have several prices, each with varying degree of time.

Hmmmm.... is anyone worried about this cold front that has hit FL?? We are at Disney 3 days before the cruise but with the possible chilly conditions, my minchkins won't be using the splash/water play area at Kidani...

DMRick

I"m not worried about the cold front. It has to be warmer than home.

Plus, you are from the North. The pools at Disney are nice and warm and with our thick blood, swimming isn't a problem. You are nice and warm in the pool and it takes awhile to cool off, so you have time to get back to your room nice and warm.

Hubby and I did look foolish wearing winter coats a few years back, while watching our grands swim. Most people who came by mentioned we must be from the north.

We'll be in Florida the 17th and start the first cruise the 18th, so we'll try to warm it up for you!

Allesma

It will always be warmer than overhere, its below 25 degrees and snowing so our kids will swim if the sun shines. The pools will be heated...
What I'm worried about is the forecast of a stormfront on the 20th, and possible seasickness we wil take the seabands.
But DMRick will speak to Neptune and clear the clouds.......

Have a Disney day!

My car said 21 this morning, 70 is going to feel great next weekend! Especially since I'm travelling even farther north this weekend, where it will be even colder!

For anyone who happens to check the boards in the next couple of days - Please keep your fingers crossed. My DH had a heart attack last Sat. We are getting the final word about traveling this coming Tues or Wed, after his stress test. His health is obviously the most important, but i really hope they say it's OK!! If we can go, i wiill definitely be looking for those 2 for 1 drink specials!! It's been a tough week.:confused3

Not so nice to swim with the dolpins in the rain so we are also crossing our fingers. But our youngest was pretty relaxed and told us if the weather was bad she trusted Disney to take care of a nice programm for the childrn:love:

Pack your sea bands cuz as of right now... they are predicting VERY windy conditions on our Castaway Cay day... hope we can dock :O(
Luckily if we can't, they can hopefully switch the AT SEA days. That's what is nice about 4-day vs. 3-day. We have a whole day to play with!

I'm crossing just about everything I've got that we have good weather, and don't end up with a major weather episode like the Magic had to deal with this last couple of days. :scared1:

We're getting very close to sail date, in any case!! Just want to remind everyone to let either myself or Suzanne (tigger2on) know if your room assignment changes in the next couple of days. I guess we'll catch up with Port room changes at the meet and greet on Deck 7 aft at 3 PM Sunday.

Can't wait to meet all of you there! :goodvibes

Jeans for the trip, which they can wear on the trip back home. Capri's for on the boat and bring layers, longsleeve wich they can wear with a polo and 2 vests. Leggings for a girl so they can still wear cute dress (with a vest) Bring a rain proff windbreaker and a scarf to protect the traoth at windy times, or to rest against in the plain etc.
This is what I'm planning to bring, well I do have to admit that I'm doubting to pack extra trousers, but the weather is slightly looking better today...

Does anyone know if they have scent free tide in the laundry room? Do the machines take front loading soap, if I bring my own?

Hi DMRick,

Not sure if anybody answered this question quite a while ago. This is not my cruise but a good friend of mine is on this cruise and I wanted to show him the DIS board.

The laundry rooms do not have scent free TIDE. Also, they only sell individual powder TIDE which is strange since the washers are front-loaders. I found it better to add the powder directly to the clothes since it just gets caught if you add it to the dispenser. I would recommend bringing your own scent-free liquid for front-load machines.

Have a great cruise everyone...wish I was joining you!

Thank you so much. We are stopping in Walmart on our way to the Wednesday cruise, to get some front loading detergent, along with our suntan lotion (yeah, like we'll need that LOL) and water and soda.

I did talk with someone in Fl today, and she said their 65-70 is warmer than outs and they are all wearing capri's. I added another piece of luggage with warmer clothes, just to be sure!
Back to being a mule with too much luggage, once again. I was doing so good this trip.
We're all packed and we leave 6 am Wednesday morning.

Have a safe trip Doris! Hope the weather is good for the first part of your B2B :goodvibes

I am planning to bring a little of everything clothes-wise given the unclear weather forecast. I just sent my FE gifts in a box to our pre-cruise hotel via UPS; decided I didn't want to deal with the extra suitcase :rotfl:

All I can say is..brrrrr! The wind is unbelievable here at Cape Canaveral. It did get up to 57, but it was short lived. The temp is supposed to go way down the next day or two, and then go up some.

The hotel (County Inn and Suites) is wonderful. They greeted us so nicely, gave us a beautiful room (best I've gotten through priceline) and treated everyone to a meet and greet type thing tonight, where they fed us ribs, tortilla's properly filled, a couple different salads, free wine, beer and soda. Cookies are free at the front desk..life is good.
Our room is very clean...looks like it was recently redone. It has bunk beds and a single bed in a small room, with a tv, and a micro, coffee pot and fridge, table, tv and of course the bed in the main room. Warning to those that smoke. There is no smoking her at all. You sign a paper saying you agree to pay a $250 cleaning fee, if you smoke in the hotel.Shuttle is free to the port. The front desk people are very very nice. Breakfast is free in the morning. Too cold for the pool, which is too bad. It's beautiful. Has a hot tub and kiddle pool as well.

I agree with the weather it is cold here in Walt Disneyworld the wind is chilling, and we live in Northeast Ohio it is suppose to warm up this weekend so cross your fingers for 70's cant wait see everyone on the ship drive safely.
