Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness

Ok. I'm going to try to get in early on this thread. I keep missing the beginning of the month and just can't catch up!

Have a great time on your mararthon tomorrow timmac!!!

BLISTER ??? I have one on my heel...really think. Some have recommended moleskin for it? I need to protect it for 10 miles on Sunday.

A full race report will be coming (probably not tonight, but we'll see...) in the "race reports and encouragement" thread, but I'll just say for now the race went very well. I'm sore as can be right now, but excited to start training for my next big race in four weeks.

timmac: Good Luck on your marathon!!

Stacie: Blister. ugh. I usualy pop mine and put Hydrogen peroxide on it to dry it up as soon as it can. Use Moleskin to cover it up. There is also something called 2nd skin which might work. I will usually just lather up some Bodyglide in that area and use my good wicking/padded socks. Hope someone else has some more or better advice.

Been a bit of a busy weekend for me.
Decided at the last minute Friday night that I wanted to get up and do my miles at the beach Saturday morning and that is what I did. And boy was it wonderful. Nice to change up the scenery once in a while. Getting there right at sunrise is my favorite thing.

And later on to the Miami versus Oklahoma game and what a game it was!!

The end was just soooooo electric in the stands and exiting Landshark Stadium. Hard to descibe.

Getting home around 1am and trying to get up this morning for my 10 miles was a bit hard. I did make it outside finally and the 10 miles are now checked off my "to do" list for training for the Spacecoast Half coming up in about 55 days.

Now its time for some NASCAR racing boys!! (and girls!)

timmac- Congratulations on the marathon. I'll check out the report.

I am looking forward to the rest of October. The weather up here is usually perfect for running (when it isn't raining) and I will finally get to put that 26.2 sticker on the car (fingers crossed).

I forgot to post it on the race thread but I had a 5k last weekend. With the RnR VA Beach and Philly halves I didn't do any local races for the entire month. I managed my 4th best time in a 5k so far, 18:50. I have another race on the same course in 2 weeks so I am going to shoot for a PR. It will depend on how my long runs go between now and then.

Another reason I love October is all the Halloween themed runs. This weekend I have a run through a cemetery down in Akron. It is hilly and hard but I did it last year and had a blast. I have a wedding that day and thought I would miss it but the ceremony is at 1:00 so I'm good.

Good running/jogging/walking all.

October already! It is hard to believe.

Tracy - I would love it if I had views like that to run by! I do have the mountains, but somehow the beach just seems oh so nice.

timmac - congrats on the marathon!

AFM: I am trying to find a new race to sign up for to keep myself motivated. I loved the DL half at the end of summer, but unfortunately I don't have the money to make it out to a race at DW, so I am looking out here in the West. I was considering the Palm Springs Half Marathon in February (I probably need that much time to get back into race shape). I will have to see if the DH would be up for a trip to California in February, but I think it should work. There just are not many races in Utah (at least not the northern half) during the winter to keep me going!

Mandac have you looked into the marathons at disneyland? I'm not sure when they are, but I have read something about them somewhere.

How do ya'll stay motivated to walk/jog everyday? I have to be at work at 6:30am so the morning is out. And most times if I go after dinner I am wide awake until 11 or so. When/where do ya'll typically walk/jog? Now that the weather is cooling off I've thought about stopping at the trails that are on my home from work, but it's a 35 minute drive I don't really want to make on my days off.

Lele: Welcome!

Tim: Congrats on your marathon!!! Way to go!

Tracy: Great pics! Makes me want to be closer to the beach!

AFM: Made it through the 10 miles with no damage to the blister. Moleskin. I still have the blister, but hopefully it's manageable. Tomorrow at this time, I will be in the air on my way to Orlando!

Glad to hear good things about the Post Race Picnic. I'm not going to Epcot til Monday and never been during the Food and Wine festival so I'm pretty excited about that!!!

Hope everyone had a great week. Will check in once I return next week!

Good Morning Folks!

Mandac - the Disneyland 1/2 is over Labor Day weekend, we have been going there the last 3 years.

Yes, northern Utah in the winter is not very condusive to racing!

It looks like it will be a nice day here today, before we get the cold tomorrow, at least we are skipping out for the weekend and missing the snow, I hope! Last night we got the sprinkler system blown out and turned off, and winterized the camper - I am not ready for winter yet!!!!

Have a great day all!

Lele and Lynn - I did the DL half this last year. It was so much fun. It was my first half marathon. The problem has been that since that race I have sort of stopped and fallen off the wagon. I need more motivation. A year is too far away to have me not put things off. So I am still considering the race in Palm Springs this winter. I will need a break from the snow by then anyway.

Stacie - good luck with the blister and have fun in Orlando!

AFM: I finally got back in the shoes today. I only did 3 miles, but I was proud of those. I have a cold/flu and my lungs are not where they should be. I set out to do 4 miles, but at about 2 I knew I wasn't going to make it. So I settled in the middle for 3. I am walking 3 minutes and jogging 2. It seems to be working for me. It gets my heartrate up, but since I am new to jogging, it is a nice start for me.

Dueling October WISH threads... I'll come over here...

The week that is:

M - bike to work - DONE
T - 3 miles, R3/W1 - DONE, 11:57, 12:22, 11:38!
W - bike to work
R - 3 miles, all run
F - bike to work
S - 4 miles, R10/W3

In the R3/W1 I'm running harder and my HR shows it. Topped out at 177 in the last mile. I've only been doing this pattern for a few weeks, but it seems to be helping in the longer, slower runs.

The weather has been so DREARY. Blech. I assume the sun is up there. I'm getting better at judging what to wear. This morning was dark and 44 degrees with a slight cross breeze. Great!

Patricia, Thanks for bumping up the thread today.

I kept meaning to drop a note about how green I was over Tracy's beach photos. I see it's now between Tracy's beach and Jeff's.. Regardless as I trot around the lake I can't help but dream of THEIR water views, especially as that nice cold wind speeds across the water at me. At least I seem to get a faster pace in those areas, trying to GET AWAY!

I tried to take a photo with my phone this weekend and well cloudy, blah day didn't translate into the pretty fall colored tree lined lake I was going for. But I do have great people around :) and the in person views were still lovely.

Hey Jeff? Where are you hiding lately? I haven't run across a post besides the one on the Race Reports. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Happy Training everyone! Even if we don't all have beaches I hope everyone is enjoying some beautiful fall views while putting in the miles.

Tomorrow is Wednesday!!! YAY!!!!

Tinmac - what a great race report! Congratulations on your finish time and everything that it took for you to get there. And that finish was a perfect ending!

I have been really missing from the main WiSH thread for ages, and I am going to try very hard to start participating here again. I totally blame Facebook LOL!

I have pretty much recovered from my Achilles injury, and did 7 1/2 miles on Sunday and felt great. I did wake up on Monday with some pain, but it went away by the end of the day. So I am still keeping an eye on it, and took an extra day of rest after my long run. I'm due for a short run today, and I'll let you all know how it goes.

My life/house is in complete chaos at the moment because we are having our living room, dining room, entrance area and three stories of stairway & hall painted. There are about 8 workmen in the house right now, sanding and painting! I think it will all be worth it when it's done, but it's driving me crazy! Normal life is impossible in all the chaos.

I'd better head out for a run while I have the chance . . .

Hi Wisher's

I usually don't post on the weekly/monthly thread, as I'm a member of the Warriors and I usually only post there....but if anyone is running the Nike womens in SF this weekend and would like to meet up let me know.

I usually get there early and stretch out in front of Macy's in Union Square, facing the tents. If anyone would like to meet up, I'll be there around 6:30am

Hope to see some Wisher's!

Good luck this weekend Marcia!!! Hope to see you on TV :happytv: at least, cause I don't plan on being in the city to watch the race...

So not sure which Oct thread is being watched by whom, so I'm duping my post from the other one here too...

Hi all!! Finally back from our two weeks at WDW, had a blast! Got a 6 miler in while there. Good news is that the shin splints were temporary and have gone away completely now. Bad news is that DH and I both caught wicked colds while there, so last weekend's 10 miler didn't happen, and I'm pretty sure the 12 miler is out this weekend too since it's still sitting in both of our chests and heads. Hoping we survive the 1/2 on Halloween!!

Anyway, I've decided to sign up for the Princess 1/2 in March! Does anyone know if there are coupon codes out for that race? Just wondering before I pay the full registration fee...

Will catch up on what everyone is doing and post more later.

The Kansas City Marathon is underway. My run this morning tracked part of the course (around mile 17 - on a separate trail). Got to see some really fast people. Inspiring. Didn't make me any faster, but I really liked seeing the supporters and spectators.

Guess what! It's still cloudy and rained a little over night. Surprise. Riding home yesterday I saw two chunks of blue sky. Should have taken a picture.

The WISH Biggest Loser challenge has me tracking food this week. I hate it but d@mn it works!

Off to clean house.
