Im so happy that you guys have everything sorted. Everyone can get in the way of weddings and they can become out of control. The sorting it out is hard, but you got through it!
No matter what you have or dont have, what you lost or what you gained, you will have an AMAZING wedding and as long as you and Adam are happy, that is all that matters.
Cant waitttt to read more hun!

I love the new ideas! Everything seems like it is coming together nicely. I have never eaten at Boma, but it looks awesome. I have heard raving reviews about it.
I have been right there with you with the family drama. My family is very anti-disney and my DH's family loves the place. I originally wanted to do our vr there, but my family wouldn't travel the hour and a half to go. My DH's family was willing to fly in and everything. Much more drama ensued. Money drama ensued as well. So we changed plans to make ourselves happy, but my family has been unrelenting. So we decided to have an at home reception to make everyone happy. But that is quickly turning into craziness as well! :confused3
I love the idea of a send off party! It makes perfect sense! I wish I had the thought a year ago to do this b/c it would have made my life easier. I don't have enough time to squeeze it in now, so I'll have to stick with the crazy family's version of an at home reception. :rotfl:
Good luck! I love SBP. I would have a difficult time between choosing SBP and the WP if I was an Escape bride.
:hug::hug: I believe you'll end up with the perfect day!:cloud9:

Hmm... this is difficult. I'm working on it.

Yes they will!!! :lmao: I just re-read your PJ and i'm glad i'm not the only one who wants something small and informal! I was alittle sad to cut out the attic but its good to know someone else will just be having a dinner at one of the resort restaurants :thumbsup2 I wanted to ask you... are you planning on wearing your gown to the dinner? And if you're doing the 10am like we want to and are having a dinner after what are you and your guests doing inbetween? I kind of feel bad not having some sort of activity in between ther ceremony and dinner :guilty:
And YES WE ARE USING RANDY!!!! He has been super sweet and his prices are amazing! I highly recommend him! we're getting him for 3 hours and a CD with the rights to all the pictures for such a good price! I almost died when he emailed me his price list! Plus i love his work, DF and I looked at his website for lke 2 hours one night. :surfweb:
I am still not totally sure yet about the dinner/meal plan. I'm thinking of just going somewhere for lunch, like River City Grill or maybe Yacht Club Gallery. If so, then I think we'll just meet up with them later (if we decide to do a DP). I think we'll just meet up with them later if it's a dinner also. So i can have a chance to relax in between and hang out with DF. I also want to have dinner in Epcot, so that will mean no dress. Otherwise I am definitely wearing my dress to the restaurant!
Yayy for Randy! He has my date available I am just waiting to hear from one other photographer on pricing and then I am going to fax him the reservation form! He is amazing to work with and said he would refund my money if I lose my date and he's already booked! So that's a huuuuge plus! :thumbsup2

Oh Katie I love those centerpieces!! The send-off party sounds like it's going to be fabulous!! Those centerpieces look fantastic! I love the glass vases with apples. Since it will be fall, you could also do mini-pumpkins...they fit with the a fall theme and the candy apples!

Ok so i've been throwing more and more ideas around in my head and here are some things i've come up with...
I was thinking about the candy apple wedding favor idea a bit more and i strangely remembered that i saw a cute recipe for a candy apple recently.... i opened up my kitchen cabinet that has all of my baking materials in it and low and behold an unopened container of chocolate funfetti frosting was staring at me.... on the back is a picture of a chocolate covered candy apple with the funfetti sprinkles all around it. I peeled the label off and read the instructions and it will be so much easier/cheaper/and cuter (i think) than to order them on line! One can of funfetti frosting makes 8 apples!! :woohoo: And since DF LOOOOOVES everything funfetti (as do it) i thought it would be a cute added touch! :thumbsup2
Ok so another thing that was really bothering me were the comments made at DF's aunt's party on sunday. :sad2: DF reminded me that we will eventually start getting some comments from my side soon enough so to get used to it. Although i had on my hater blockers :cool2: I still have this burning question of "why is this such a big deal?!?" I mean if we have the party they ONLY thing they will be missing out on is the "i do's" :confused3 So i kind of had an interesting thought.... what if we do the "rehersal" when everyone arrives to our house? We'll slap a random book in DF's Best friends hand and have him "officiant", i'll have my sisters standing up for me, and DF's brothers standing up for him. I mean if this will make everyone relax alittle bit why not? We'll obviously make sure everyone KNOWS this is only a REHERSAL and not the real thing but what are your thoughts on that?
I'm still planning on cutting a cake with DF so everyone can get that photo op, and depending on the feel of the party maybe throwing a bouquet and garter to get the full corny reception effect so why not throw in a quick "I do"?
ok, well i'm off to go try and get some work done... :surfweb: I'll talk to you all later!

mmmmmm funfetti apples...YUM! I saw one bride on here found mickey sprinkles, if you could find those that could be a really cute touch!
Don't let the comments get to you, people that make comments like that are going to complain no matter what. And would his aunt really not give you any type of gift if she didn't attend the actual wedding? Family usually would give you a gift no matter what so I think she's complaining to complain. She also may have thought she was being funny and didn't mean anything bad by it at all.
You could definitely do the send off as a rehearsal if you wanted.
We just went to an at home reception this past weekend and it was really fun. They had a tent in the yard and hired a bartender and caterer and it really was a great time. So I'm sure your send-off party will be lots of fun too!

i'd love to be able to find mickey sprinkles! That would be really cute! I'm trying to find a way to incorporate disney without it looking like a kids birthday party... that would be really cute and subtle!
Its good the know that other people have done outdoor casual stuff for a home reception and that its gone well. Some days i get really excited about it and some days i get nervouse about it.... we'll see what happens... i just hope nobody ruins it because i AM putting alot of effort into it. ::yes::
The only thing i would say is do you want to say your "I Do's" before the wedding?
Honestly i dont. :sad2: Someone had asked me why i just dont get married at the send off party and do the disney wedding as a VR but i dont want that. I think we're just going to keep it as a party and leave it at that. the more DF and i thought about it the more we didn't want to do it.
so we'll have the food, desert, we'll take pictures with everyone, have the music playing, and just hope it all goes well... i'm just praying for everyone to be on their best behavior

So I had an opinion! :rotfl: I know that I tend to only chime in about the good stuff but I think that your families need to GET OVER IT. Just have a little party and then send them all announcements when you get back with a link to all of your pictures online and they can print whatever they want! Also, have you considered getting a videographer so that they can all see a video of your wedding vows? I know it's expensive (i've looked into it) but maybe if you asked the nosy relatives if they would be willing to contribute to that cost... :confused3 Frankly I think they need to just get their noses out of your business. This is your day and it's ultimately about the two of you. You're going to have close family and friends there who mean the most to you. Do you honestly care what all these other nosy witches think? You shouldn't!
Okay, stepping off my soap box now! You should TOTALLY just do the dessert party idea. I am soo so so so so soo excited that don't have to feed people dinner! And dessert is the best anyways! Mmmmmm! :thumbsup2
That all being said :hug::hug: BIIIIIIG hugs, you can get through this! :goodvibes

Thank you for the support! What my family and DF's family dont seem to understand is that we are pretty private people. we dont like big grand affairs and as much as DF is a big kid (like me) in front of people he knows... he tends to clam up infront of a bunch of people. The last thing i want is for him, or me, to feel uncomfortable at our own wedding. That being said i think we are doing the best we can to make everyone happy! I know that come next year we will have a clear mind knowing that we tried to pelase everyone. And not for nothing but i would LOOOOOOVE to get the (beach) balls to tell everyone that if they're all so upset about it then you can pay for it! But i digress.... We did look into videoing the wedding but it is expensive so we are going to slap a video camera in someones hands and then email it to everyone.
I will however be looking into the DP idea. I know i asked DF about it before and he was more concerned with giving everyone a dinner as opposed to a desert. he really hasn't grasped the "once in a life time" chance it would be to have a DP. But if we can do a DP as a dinner that would be a really cool compromise! :thumbsup2 I have however vowed to not make any crazy plans as far as the disney wedding is concerned until we can actually book in Feb. Things just got to confusing at that point. the only definates are where and when anything after that is tentative! :upsidedow
Oh and good news... I got another quote for a tent, tables, chairs ect. and it was HALF what the other place was going to charge! :woohoo:

Hey Katie!! I didn't realize you had made a new PJ! I'm sorry about the family drama. If it was me, I would not do the wedding stuff at the party. It's not meant to be a wedding, and it doesn't sound like it's something you want to do. If they are worried it's going to be a party just to get gifts, make it clear on the invitation that gifts are not necessary. I mean it sounds like you're trying to throw a nice party, and if they are not going to appreciate it, **** them. I would NOT try to appease if it means doing something you don't want to do. It's your party, and your day, and if they don't get it, well it stinks to be them. I'm sorry they are being difficult. I definitely feel your pain about pain in the butt families. Just try to focus on you and DF and do what you guys want to do, or else you may end up regretting it.

Thanks for the support Sam! I'm working through the family drama and i'll make our wedding the most amazing day for us no matter what family says or does. ::yes:: I'm not going to make any plans right now for the wedding in disney until we can talk to our planner and actually book everything in Feb. So right now we are focusing on the home party. But i can tell you that i WILL be doing what makes us happy in disney... as far as the party here goes i agree with ya, i'm not going to do anything wedding related for them... our special day is in disney and thats how its going to stay! :thumbsup2
In other news DF and I went to the topsfield fair last night! Its the oldest county fair in the untied states and it is a big deal around here. Its also one of DF and I's favorite things to do in the fall. Here are some pics from the fair that i took...

Wait you can make those out of paper?!?!?! DO tell!!! I've been toying around with the idea of buying carnations from market basket and making centerpieces but if you can make them out of paper that would be super cool!
Oh and also.... Ever since you lovely ladies have put in my head the idea of a possible DP as a dinner i haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It gets me really excited just thinking about it. And even though i keep saying i'm not going to plan anything disney until later i just emailed my planner. I can't help it!!! I'm doing 2 DP's, without actual desserts! At Epcot, we are doing cocktail reception style (this was going to be for our wedding night, but now it is a welcome party). The hor derve package I choose is about $30, and it has a LOT of food!! We are also doing a dinner at Sago Cay, and using a rehearsal menu, so that keeps costs down a lot!

Hey katie! Just got caught up on the new plans and love it! Especially in love with the idea of a send-off party... I really wish we could do this but the weekend before we leave is thanskgiving so that's out... and the few weekends before that are deer hunting season- sacred "man" time that DF would kill me if I planned something during. So I'm stuck with the at-home reception after but such is life. It's a great idea and I can't wait to see how it turns out! The backyard wedding posted is awesome inspiration and I love the centerpieces and caramel apples! Just ignore all the complainers... I've found people will always find something to be unhappy with:sad2:

Hi, My name is Katie, and I'm a wedding planning addict... :rotfl2:

Hmm...you would probably spend more on a DP.
Based on information I've combined from various different places:
UK Upper: $250.00 (rental fee?)
Viewing fee - $12.50 (for those that don't have tickets--I multipled by 16 since you know definitely that you and DF will have APs): 16 x $12.50 = $200.00
Setup fee (if you have tables you need to pay this, you may not if you can use the benches?): $75.00
Hostess: $90.00
Food--$22.00 (cheapest menu was something like $22.00): $22.00 x 18 = $396.00
TOTAL: $1,011.00
Dinner buffet at Boma - $28.99 per person: 18 x $28.99 = $521.82 + tip (20%-$105.00)
TOTAL: Approx. $625.00
So, if my calculations are anywhere near correct, a DP would be twice as much. Maybe I'm adding things up wrong?

Edit: yea, so did some more research and i guess if your serving dessert @ SCP its a 500$ minimum... but for dinners it is 1000$ I keep going back and forth with... do we spend the extra money or not... ugh sometimes i wish we didn't buy the house first :rolleyes1

Okay, so I needed some affordable flowers for our at home reception. We looked into ordering wholesale, bulk, etc. But even the carnations were more than we were willing to spend. So I found this great diy thing online with instructions for tissue paper carnations. I'm sad to say that I don't have the link any more.
Basically. Take a piece of tissue paper and fold it up a bunch of times. I use a kids cup to trace a circle on it. I then poke 2 holes in the middle of the circle and thread a piece of wire through it or a pipe cleaner through it. If the stems are going to show, use floral tape to wrap them up.
Then take the circles and smoosh them up and then fan the back out, making the carnation. You can do solid colors, or combine 2 colors of tissue paper. You can even color around the edges with a marker before you smoosh them for a two toned look.
Hope this helps. I've made about 350 so far for about $10! I've got enough supplies to make a couple hundred more. My goal is 1,000! :scared1:

So my DSis (MOH) came over yesterday and we had alot of fun and made me feel alot better. I showed her some DP pictures and told her about how i really wanted to do something more after the ceremony. I told her how much it would be and how i would be stretching the budget. She said that although it looked like fun and great picture oppertunities it didn't look like something alot of the family would enjoy. So we're going to keep BOMA. I showed her pictures of BOMA and told her about it and she was getting really excited about it. :woohoo: She even was helping me look for a short white dress to wear to dinner and to the parks after. I think my little bridezilla moment of wanting it all has been surpressed.... atleast for now. ;)
Anyway so i'm trying to find a short white dress.... i guess they're called reception dresses or something like that. I dont want to spend too much money on it since i'm going to be wearing it at the send off party and then to BOMA and the parks. I dont want to feel bad if it gets ruined. We saw this one on Victoria's secret website and i think Mandy wore it for her engagement pics but i dont know how itll look on me

i love love love your new ideas! ....if you do the candy apples and do decide to do them yourself, go to michaels and get the candy bags and ribbon, and as usual there are always coupons...when my brother and sil got married last year they ordered caramel apples but we bagged and tied them on our own...it was very inexpensive to do.....

Katie, I'm in!! LOVE your new plans. On the centerpieces, what will you do with them after? My original plan, was to do flowers, and give them to certain people as gifts. My sister did that, she had cards at certain peoples place settings, where she thanked them for their support & friendship and offered the topiaries as a gift. I wanted to encorporate the same idea. HOWEVER, I love your idea, it IS echo friendly and wayyyyy cheaper than the the centerpieces I was going to do....so, guessing you'll buy some nice vases and fill with fruit? We're leaving the next day, so obviously, we don't need ALL that fruit at my house. I really LOVE the idea.
SOOO glad you were able to find a solution to your situation w/ the family. The Send Off party is a great idea, if I don't say so myself! :rolleyes1 Love the verbiage you'll use on your cards. It's really coming together!!

Hmm... maybe i'll have to look at some target dresses too! I'm worried that i might get too dressy and then not be comfortable wearing it in the park. I brought up to my sister that i could just buy a white track suit and put the bride rhinestone decal on it and get my sisters matching tack suits in the color or their dresses but she likes being dressed up  So comfort and cuteness is key!

Hey Chris!!! You made it over!!!
I was thinking of giving the centerpieces to people with a recipe in it... i saw on martha stewarts wedding website that some people actually do favors where everyone gets a basket of apples and inside the basket is a recipe for like apple pie, or crisp, or like a cinnimon apple bread. So thats always an idea! :thumbsup2

I'm covering the 3-11 shift at work again (not happy about it  ) so instead of cleaning my house or running errands i'd rather wedding plan! :cutie:
I looked at the davids bridal website with my sister and we are definatly not on the same page but close enough that we narrowed it down to two dresses that i think would compliment both her and my other sisers body types.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/f08_f12942_2_psd.jpg
She really liked this one and thought it would look good on them
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/s09_83475_clover_2_psd.jpg
And i really liked this one! (lol mandy i'm so copying you and lauren!) I wanted them in a dress that was kind of the same material as my dress. I think my dress is tafetta because its shiny like this... if that makes sense. I also think that this dress is better suited for both of my sisters. :goodvibes Which one do you girls like? Reminder, this is my dress
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/Casa_A008_00007_v3_gj.jpg
Ok so here is my next issue.... If you've made your way over here from my other PJ you know that flowers has been an issue with me. I dont know why i can't make up my mind on this. I mean its not that big of a deal they're feakin flowers! I keep going back and forth on what i want... i can't decide between calla lilies
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/pink_calla_lily_bouquet.jpg
Calla lilies and roses
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/weddings-calla-roses-candy-bridal-b.jpg
Roses
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/2649227954_e8df918f76_o.jpg
or gerbera daisies and roses
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/iStock_000006893478XSmall.jpg
Some days i'm leaning towards the fun gerbera daisies, other days i think the calla lilies will compliment my dress more, some days i think i want the classic look of the roses. :faint: HELP!

good morning katie! I really like the second dress the best I think it would work the best with your dress, plus is really cute.
I am not a huge rose fan....because its more traditional? I guess? I still like the daisies! but I also thing the lilies would look very nice with your dress. So I vote daisies but....support the lilies! hahaha :rotfl:

Morning sweetie!!
You're too funny! DF votes Gerbera daisies but he doesn't want a gerbera daisy bout because he says it reminds him of those clowns at the circus who squirt water on people. Thats my guy!
My feeling on the roses is wierd... it was the same thing with the whole veil thing. At frist i didnt want one because i thought it was too traditional and this is NOT a tradtitional wedding :upsidedow But then part of me wanted to have that Bride feeling and i decided i wanted one. Granted i only spent 22$ on it so if i decide i dont want it i wont be upset but yea i feel the same way about roses. Sometimes i think, "oh everyone does roses" and then part of me is like... "but they're such a wedding flower!"
I'm leaning more towards the gerbera daisies though :thumbsup2

Ooooohhhh copy cat!! Lol I can't say I'm not biased against the second dress! And that color is to dye for!!
I really like the lily and rose bouquet. Kinda traditional, kinda modern. Love it!

weeeell even though i'm not a rose fan. if you went similar to the daisy one you posted it has a couple roses in it which makes it the best of both worlds and then DF can have a rose bout and not feel like a clown! :rotfl:
I love the things guys come up with!
I am still back and forth with a veil or no veil...so I feel you on that!

I totally did copy you! I really loved the dress on lauren and when i showed my sister she liked it too so YAY! I agree that the calla lilies and the roses do look contemporary (HA! hidden disney resort reference!) and would look nice with my dress but i dont know if it will go with the outdoor Boardwalk-esque feel of the wedding. See my problem? And i love those dahlias! I didn't even know what dahlias were before i saw them at the fair!

Exactly! and I do LOVE that gerbera daisy bouquet i posted! Its big and round just how i like my bouquets! :yay: And i figured that even thought DF has a say in what bout he wears his groomsmen dont! They'll be wearing a daisy bout if we decide on them! :rotfl2:
And if you're not sure about a veil get one on ebay thats what i did! it's a cathedral length (if we're doing a veil i'm doing it right!) with crystals scattered through it and it was only 22$. DB was going to charge me something insane for that same thing!

I'm going to be different and say I like dress 1 better! :rotfl: I am not a fan of halter dresses, but that's just me! I do love the color though, it's making me rethink pink/brown!
And although I'm a huuuuge calla lily fan I think the gerbera daisy and rose bouquet! I like the funness of it. :thumbsup2 I just wonder how much disney will charge for the upgrade... :rotfl2:

:lmao: I know! I can only imagine! although i have heard of a few escape brides that asked for a different bouquet and weren't charged a fee but i'm sure i'll get charged something! My only saving grace is that gerbera daisies aren't that expensive. I love the funness of them too! and i saw another dis bride who had a gerbera daisy wand instead of a rose wand and they were super cute! So i could do that for my sisters :thumbsup2
I have to say i wasn't sure about the blue but i'm liking it more and more! and i think that with a fuschia and white gerbera daisy wand it'll really make the colors pop at SBP! :goodvibes
And my sister really liked the first dress too... i'm just afraid it wont look nice on my other sister. i know i dont look good in empire waisted dresses... they end up look like a maternity dress on me. But the sister that does like dress one is a size zero (brat!!! ) so she looks good in anything. But we'll see. I can't wait to go to DB with them and try them on! :woohoo:

i LOVE the second dress- its so girly... and the material will make it look pretty. The first is nice, but a little too formal? I dunno, maybe because its the plain material and not shiny? But i defo love the second dress!
I am the same with flowers! i look at the rose bouquets and think, damn you cant go wrong there.. but i think, i want something 'different' because im not having a normal wedding! I dont even know what my 'colours' are yet- i keep changing my mind! we are going with the gold tie for DF... and i like the frosty pinks for the girls dresses... but what goes with gold apart from brown? we have been to too many blue weddings so we cant have blue... so im thinking gold and pink? How on earth can i get a gold and pink 'different' looking bouquet! haha! oh lordy!
Flowers eh!!? Damn things! There is just too much choice thats why we cant decide!!!!

Okay so here is my thought-
dress number 2 compliments your dress much better, i think the accents on the dress make it slightly dressier and since your dress is stunning (saw it at bella sera last night! atleast i think it was it lol) i think they just blend much nicer together...the first dress dont get me wrong is very very pretty, i think just to simple elegant as opposed to vibrant elegant.
flowers-
you know where i stand, thanks to you im going daisy/roses. so you should too
and your right we are basically wedding twins now..i think we should be flower twins as well.

I like the second BM dress! But I guess you never know until they try them on! Also, I love the last picture that you posted of the flowers! I am usually not a fan of daisies but that bouquet is beautiful! I had the same issue with deciding on flowers but once I saw the cost difference between roses and callalilies, I went with roses! :) Regardless, no matter what you choose, the flowers will be gorgeous! Mine photographed beautifully!

So DF called me (three times already this morning! clingy!) and asked me what i was doing. Told him i was wedding planning as usual and he asked if it was flowers again. He knows me too well! :rolleyes1 I told him the different flowers that i couldn't choose between and he is totally down withthe gerbera daisies. I am definatly leaning more towards them. So fine... we can be wedding color twins, day twins, flower twins.... :rotfl:

I love the 2nd bm dress too! The color is stunning, and it looks kinda magical to me. Perfect for Disney. Plus it matches yours.
I personally love roses, but I think that all pink calla lilly bouqet is gorgeous. That would really pop with the blue. What if you did that and then your bm's carried like 1 or 3 of the same kind. I think it is more spectacular than a mixed bouquet imo!

Also a fan of BM dress #2! I think you should go and have them try it on! You also have some awesome little white dresses posted here, I love the one with pockets and the J Crew one- I think they look the most casual so you would be most comfortable in them for the parks.
As for flowers I think you have your heart set on the Gerbera Daisies:goodvibes So if you love them do it! My personal favorite :lovestruc is the ones Mandy posted with the dahlia's, I think it has a similar look to the gerbera daisies but is just a little more polished but still fun! sci-fi (wanted to do this last year but couldn't get an ADR)
San Angel Inn (we always say we should do it but forget for some reason)

Well see here is the dilema i'm facing  From what i've read on the resorts board.... Kidani's rooms are bigger which would be great for getting ready ect. But from looking at pictures and my own experience staying in Jambo house last year... i think Jambo house's lobby is amazing for pictures. Which doesn't mean anything.. I went through the same dilemma. Df and I loved the look of Kidani, and the reviews on it all seem to say that it is more relaxed (probably because of less people) and the pool looks awesome. However, we choose Jambo in the end. Here are our reasons, if it helps you:
1. The amenities. Lounge, counter service, restaurants, etc.
2. The view. I didn't want to pay to upgrade for a decent view...I'll wall to a look out to see the animals. However, at Kidani, if you have a standard view, you look over the parking lot. At Jambo, DVC rooms are guaranteed a pool or Savannah view.
3. The lobby does look quite a lot bigger, and at the time I was planning on doing a photoshoot, and I thought jambo's lobby was much nicer.

Me and DF hated San Angel....so many people like it...while it was pretty...we got crappy seats and the food was blah! it had no kick...we were extremely disappointed especially *** we LOVE mexican. so I would say no to this...if you ask me. I'm a vegetarian and DF is a huge meat eater and we were both unimpressed

LOVE Sci Fi, it was so fun! The burgers are tasty too. The shakes are really really thick though, so order them with your meal, so they melt a little and you can actually drink them!
Haven't been to Teppen Edo, but it's on our list. We have similar restaurants here, so that one usually gets bypassed if there's somewhere else we want to try or go back to.
Tutto Italia is really good, we went for lunch and loved it. Other favorites, Tusker House (breakfast), Jiko , Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Hollywood Brown Derby, and the Yachtsman.

We've stayed in the Jambo DVC before Kidani opened and really liked it. It felt more part of the action since there's always people around. I also like the restaurant options there. I think the Lobby in Kidani is more subdued (from pics). Either way, if you really wanted to, I'm sure you could get pics in both and the extra space would probably come in handy.

HTH:goodvibes
The amenities are what we were looking more for too. I mean the day of the wedding i want to be able to run down to the mara to grab a quick breakfast, and if we need anything their little store is awesome! It helped us out MORE than once on our last trip :rolleyes1
I also agree that the views for DVC in Jambo are better without spending more money. I also have this vision of getting some pictures on the bridge in the Jambo house lobby, and on that staircase that goes down to the look out points
Ok so yea i just made my decision... Jambo it is! :lmao: Sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else... thanks Karen
Sci-fi is reeeeeeaaally fun! and the food is very good. we looooved it.
I haven't eatten at the others. but I plan on eating at Whispering.
well thats good news about Sci-fi! But now i'm bummed about San Angel Inn... DF and I LOVVVVVE mexican too and thats why we wanted to try it... we also like the atmosphere in there. Hmmm i might have to give that one a second thought :scratchin

I did hear that the fast food mexican thats out side San Angel is way better! We have plans to get lunch here one day so maybe that would be a better. I still love the building where San Angel is and the ride and market place.

I'm glad You liked Sci-Fi!! Sounds like its a great choice! :yay:
I'm thinking about trying Jiko too, and Yachetsmen would be good for DF since hes one heck of a carnivore!
I agree with Jambo house... out of all the resorts i've stayed it my jaw dropped the first time i walked into the Jambo house lobby. I've never been so excited! :hyper: From what i remember the rooms were pretty big... between the couch, table and chairs, and the space infront of the mirrors we should be alright. :thumbsup2

Yea we got food from Mexico during the food and wine festival right outside that building and it was REALLY good so we kind of figured it would be the same... huh. Anyway I love the market place and the ride in there too... its my guilty pleasure ride :rolleyes1

I'm a little scared to try San Angel too, since the reviews are so mixed!!! However, reading the chicken descriptions, I don't really know how they can screw it up, unless they under cook it :lmao: And I figure, if the food is bad, just order more margaritas so that you don't taste it! I'm the same as you though, I LOVE the atmosphere in there!

YIKES!!!! It was a good thing I had emailed the people we are renting DVC from. They had everything alittle backwards. I think what happened is that they saw that they could book 11 months out so wrote down that they would book on 10/30. But they thought that was our dates...so I corrected that! And then i had emailed them back in august about moving from BLT to AKV and the Wife emailed me back saying no problem... i guess she didn't tell her husband because he still had us at BLT. So potential issue was neutralized!:thumbsup2
Ok so i have a question... with going over my ADRs i think we need to do the deluxe dining plan. Can you girls explain how it works? other than being able to eat at places like Jiko and California grill what are the differenced between that and the normal dining plan? Everytime i google it i just get the participating locations. :confused3

Oh one of my favorite subjects, the DxDP. :goodvibes DF and I love it, when we're on vacation we love to eat out every night at nice restaurants and not worry about what we're going to get. You have a ton of credits, so you get to go to a ton of restaurants - good for us since we have so many fav's and always want to try a few new ones. It also is a huge money saver for us, we saved probably $500 or more on our last trip. Okay, major differences:
1) You get three credits per day that you can use on anything. You don't have to ever eat CS if you don't want to. My DF doesn't like CS, he finds it kinda stressful.
2) You get 2 snacks per day which is awesome. We use one on water/drinks and one for a treat. We go when it's really hot, so definitely need the water.
3) You get an appetizer for each person. We would order an app anyway, so this really works out for us. It's also fun to be able to get what you want and not share.
4) You get 2 refillable mugs - okay, we don't really use these, but they make great souvenirs and I do use them at home. But it does save you $25 of buying them.
5) You can eat at signatures every night and not worry about credits. This is generally what we do, signature dinner, and then lunch or a character breakfast. You could also do dinner shows if you wanted.
6) If you have a bad meal, it doesn't really matter because it's already paid for and you'll probably be eating again soon anyway. :lmao: Seriously, if I were paying OOP for some of these things I would have freaked out. $75 for two people for breakfast?! But on the DxDP it didn't matter, in fact the more it cost the better since that was just extra savings!
There are some situations where this plan wouldn't be for you:
1) It is a lot of food, if you're light eaters or would normally share things, probably not for you. My DF would look at me like I was crazy if I asked him to share his meal with me.
2) If you're a crazy commando tourer and want to spend every minute on rides - probably not for you, it does take time to eat at all these places, but we love the food at Disney just as much, and if you tour the Tour Guide Mike way, you can eat at all these places and still see your fav rides, so we've never felt like we were missing out.
If you have any other questions let me know. We've done the basic plan once and the Deluxe Plan twice now. I also did a Dining report for our last trip, on the first page there's a list of the places we ate. :goodvibes

See now thats what i'm trying to figure out too.... DF and I wre talking about it and he thinks that maybe we should do BOMA as our "welcome" dinner and pay for that and then have another dinner after the wedding somewhere closer to (or in) Epcot with everyone. If we're going to pay for both of those meals then i'd have two meal points left over which I could use to do a Signature dining places. Hmmmm..... I'm confused
me and DF are on the deluxe as well! I will probably be so full I could fall over by the end....DF will be asking when we are eating next.
I know! Even on the Basic DDP we were ALWAYS full! And i mean FAT
FULL! :rotfl2:
I guess i'm going to think about this for alittle while. I definatly have the time. I know that in 2007 and 2008 we did basic DDP and we were very happy with it and were never hungry. My only concern is that we want to do a couple signature dinning. But if i have two TS credits left we can use those. It would probably confuse our waiter if we told them that our of 18 people only 2 people were on the dining plan so we'd just pay OOP for that..... yea this is going to require more time and thought... :scratchin

Katie this is how we are doing it. We check in to the Poly Fri but won't start the DP until we check in to the BWV on Sunday, so we have 14 credits. We are doing dinner Sun, Mon, Thur, Fri a Signature on Sat and breakfast on Sunday. I think we will have more than enough. We are paying OOP for a few meals at the Poly since we won't be on the DP yet, but I think it's more than enough food. We will probably do Deluxe for another trip.

How do you feel about the other flowers? which one is your favorite?
I like all the other, esp the roses as that is what i'm having but you seem to have picked the gerbera daisies and I agree that they do make you smile.
sci-fi (wanted to do this last year but couldn't get an ADR)
San Angel Inn (we always say we should do it but forget for some reason)
teppan Edo (always wanted to go and see how they cook!)
Whispering Canyon Cafe
So far thats all i've been able to come up with.... lol any other suggestions?
I wasn't loving Sci Fi when I went.
I've heard bad things about San Angel.
I'm trying Teppan Edo and Wispering Canyon on our trip.

lol, no problem :goodvibes. It is a lot of food, but I don't eat every single thing on the plate, if I'm full I just stop ;). But some then that would really bother some people, one of my coworkers can never let anything go to waste, so that would drive a person like her crazy. Also at the signature restaurants the portions aren't as big, they are more normal size. I think you just need to look at how you would eat normally and where you're planning to go. The menus on Allearsnet are great for this! :thumbsup2
For our last trip we were originally going to do the basic plan. But then we added in the cost of apps, and the other meals we were going to pay OOP for and the difference for the week was not much and we'd easily get the value of by adding on the other places we wanted. My DF is also a resort and restaurant snob and on vacation wants to eat steak every night, there are also so many favorite restaurants for us, so it's hard to choose, so it really works for us.
The key is you really have to plan it. We generally don't do 3 ts in one day, so if you did a Character breakfast and then a later signature dinner, that's your three credits but it's not like you're eating a ton.
We aren't doing it for the wedding trip since we'll have our APs and will just get the TIW card. I agree it could get confusing if you were out with other people. I can definitely see how the basic might work out better for you guys if you're going to have two meals for the wedding that you wouldn't be using the credits, so you could use those for signatures later on. :thumbsup2

Do you get AP's with an Escape package? If so, why don't you get the Tables in Wonderland (TIW) card? It's a 20% discount on food and drinks (even alcohol). It costs $75 but I've heard it will pay for itself pretty quickly. You can also use it for up to 10 people (including the cardholder). I'm going to get one and use it for the Bridal tea and during our wedding trip I'm just going to make a bunch of ADR's if people want to come. They'll pay their own way but they'll get the discount too if they eat with me. We're also using it for the PS trip instead of the dining plan. And we're going to go to V&A since it is so pricey and that would be a great discount!

I just want to echo everyone talking about the TIW card. Once its gets closer to your date, I would do some serious number crunching to see if the Dining Plan is cost effective compared to the TIW card. I don't want to start any wars, but I am of the opinion that the Dining Plan wastes money and forces you to eat food you wouldn't necessarily buy if you were paying out of pocket. It's especially useless if you get alcohol with dinner, or usually drink water. I know that saving money is very important to you, so seriously look into it. Paying out of pocket and using the TIW card, I think, will save you money.
Now in terms of where to eat. The Sci-Fi Diner is fun for the atmosphere. I think it's something you should do once. Now I personally think the food is horrible. I've been twice and would never go again. If I did go again though, I guess you can't go wrong with a burger, although there is nothing special about it.
San Angel Inn is another place that's all about atmosphere. The tables are really close together, but it's still nice. The food is 'meh'. It's definitely not Tex-Mex though, so keep that in mind. Don't expect tacos.
For both of those places, bring a sweater or something. Even in the dead of summer I've needed one because those two place love to crank up the A/C!!!
I like Narcoossees. It gets mixed reviews here. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere. There is supposedly a dress code, but people were definitely dressed like slobs when we were there. There are also tired, overheated, screaming children (which in Disney you have to expect).
However, I thought the food was pretty good. I especially recommend the mixed drinks. The raspberry mojito is delicious. I think the entrees are overpriced and not really above Bahama Breeze quality; so if you are in a pinch money-wise, I would go and get appetizers and drinks.

I have to agree! When I am on vacation, I drink water or alcohol, and normally wouldn't order desert. When DF and I were on the dining plan over christmas, we usually just took our dessert to go, and even than didn't eat it all. I also don't really like being tied down, in that I HAVE to eat at a restaurant every night. However, the convenience is pretty nice. Once you make your ADR list, just add up what the costs would be with everything you would actually want to get, and see which one works better!

I definatly think that Might be a good idea. We do drink... and on vacation we tend to drink... ALOT! I also agree that some nights i would have rathered an app as opposed to the dessert but got the dessert just because it was included. I think it would be a good idea to make our ADR's and then figure out how much we'd save if we used both and then go with whatever works out best. I appareciate you looking out for me Katie! :goodvibes

Summers wedding was lovely.
It truly was! :cloud9:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so here is it is.... i'm admitting i'm being a tiny bit of a bridezilla :guilty: I had a small little melt down the other day about how i'm worried that i'll feel like i should have done more on our wedding day. I feel like it doesn't help that people in the family are giving usa hard time and that other children in BOTH families seem to get whatever they want and DF and I are getting the short end of the stick. I know i am sounding like a spoiled brat but i just feel like DF and I are VERY budget savy... i mean how else would we be able to have a house at 22 years old? We are smart when it comes to finances and we hardly ever spoil ourselves. But sometimes i think we are being TOO worried about the budget and not looking at how this is our WEDDING DAY! This is a time when we are able to spoil ourselves and have it be completely forgiveable! I know a couple who took out a loan to get the wedding of their dreams and nobody said boo to them about it. I feel like if we put a few things on the credit card its not that big of a deal. Right? :confused3 I mean i bought my gown on ebay for goodness sake!
So here is what DF and I are trying to figure out. My biggest upset is that after the ceremony and pictures thats it for the dress. Thats not ok with me! I want to wear it as long as i can because after that day i wont be able to anymore. :sad2: So DF brought up the DP again. I love the pictures of the bride and groom with the fireworks behind them... i think they're amazing! :lovestruc And what a cool experience! I can tell people who know nothing about disney that we had private fireworks at our wedding! :rotfl2: So in order to do a budget friendly DP i was looking at SC. I know it doesn't have the WOW factor of an EPCOT DP and illuminations are DF and I's favorite fireworks but this is the only way i can justify doing a DP. I won't need transportation, I can have an outside photographer, and the F&B minimum for a DP is 500$. It'll be cheaper and easier (I think) if we do it that way. So we'd still have the ceremony at SBP, dinner at BOMA, and then i'd get my dress back on and we'd head over to GF for a DP. What are your thoughts on this?
I know this was long and i'm sory if i came off as a brat/bridezilla but its frusterating when nobody, other than my loyal DIS brides of course, will talk to me or help me plan the wedding. I know that alot of "tradional" wedding stuff is obsolete now but i just wish one of the four parents involved here would help out just a teeny tiny bit. But oh well :cool2: It just makes me want to have an amazing wedding to prove we could do it on our own.

Oh Katie you aren't being a Bridezilla!! We all get over emotional about our weddings (most of us anyway, lol). I think your expectations are completely reasonable!! Your reasons are the EXACT reasons that we switched to a Wishes wedding. The only difference is we aren't using any credit cards. We figured if we are doing a Disney wedding, let's DO a Disney wedding, all out. We nixed our at home reception. To me the only people that matter if they are at our wedding is our immediate family and our best friends. I didn't want/need a whole lot of people. Of course some people will be upset but the wedding is about us getting married, not who's watching it.
Off my soapbox, but I've said it before...you guys need to make a list. Make a list of MUST HAVES, a list of likes and a list of don't care about. It will help you figure out the best way to do it. I know Adam doesn't want to get up early but I think Carries wedding is a great example of how to have a fab wedding on a budget...and she got to wear her dress all day!!!
Good luck with everything, you always have us to bounce ideas off of!

And honestly after the comments we got about our send off party i'd LOVVVVVE to nix the whole thing! not only did it really hurt my feelings but why am i going to take money out of our wedding in disney to please these people?? And you're right...the people who matter will be there. I might just forget about the tent and tables and chairs and just have food and everyone in the house. Its not what id love to do but i'll be damned if i do all this stuff for people who aren't appreciative.

You aren't being Bridezilla at all! Its your wedding day and you should spend as much as you want on it. However I don't think getting into debt over it is a good way to start a marriage. To pay for ours we have cut way back on extra spendings day to day so no eating out, no new clothes, etc etc and put the money away each pay day so that I can't spend it. Are you taking your dress off at Boma, why not keep it on. Ignore your family, do what you want to do, don't forget parents often play children off each other so you probably don't know the whole story there either, just concentrate on yourselves and make yourselves happy, its no good second guessing what other do or don't want/like.

the ONLY reason i am thinking about an at home reception - and btw- we would have to do two parties to please both familes as they are both far from each other (neither would travel such a long distance unless paid for us with coach or alternative) so we would have to have 1 party in london, and the other in sheffield - the only reason i would do this is to wear my dress again.
We decided to get married in Disney for plently of reasons, one of the main being that we didnt want everyone there and have to invite everyone and keep them all happy. We are having what we want, and we are doing our best to save it all up in cash, if there is something small that we think we should have because we would never get the op ever again then we might consider putting in on a card- as long as we have our plan to pay it back asap. Of course you are cash savvy- to have a house at 22 is a big big responsibility and you both are the only people who know if you can afford to put something little on a credit card. Its not like you are putting a $10,000 spree on your card, if its reasonable, and you can afford it and be able to pay it back then why not? Its your wedding. So many times i have got way too emotional about things that i feel i really want for the wedding and thought i wouldnt be able to have it, but there is always a way round, we just tweaked and tweaked and juggled the whole budget around to make space for what we want.
You do what makes you both happy.

We've been cutting back... BIG time. And i've also opened up a savings account and every week it automatically takes 75$ from my checking account. I started that in June but i wish i had started it sooner. DF and I will have about 8000$ for the wedding saved up but we included meal plan, flights, ect. But the way i see it if we have to put anoher thousand or so on a credit card i'll just keep doing the 75$ a week until i can pay it all off.
I may keep my dress on at BOMA. My only concern is that its a buffet and i dont want to be inconveniencing other people with my large dress lol... can you just see it.. "excuse me, pardon me, bride coming through!" I mean i could always make DF go get my food ;)
Definately keep the costs to a minimum at your at home party.
I absolutly will be keeping it to a minimum at this point. :cool2:
I know exactly how you feel! I know I upset a few people but they really aren't too concerned with the wedding...it was more like even though they didn't plan on going, just because they couldn't they got offended. Do what makes you guys happy!!
Exactly! And no matter how many times we tell them not to be offended they are. :confused3

we are saving up big time and have cut out soooo much, i used to spend most of my wages on nothing - apart from my insurance on my car and little bits like food shopping and phones, i used to go shopping and spend a lot on anything - and treated people all the time. I have cut back big time, i managed to save up for my dress in 3 months (but then that money is now saved because Waynes ma paid for it) but still, its crazy, and i dont even have a good wage! Im on such a crappy wage but im saving so so much its crazy. Its not like you are putting $10k on the credit card, you are putting a reasonable amount that you will be able to pay back. Its not a big deal. I agree, if you want your DP, then you can make it happen.
And i totally think you should wear your dress to Boma- then everyone has to help the bride and bring you all your food! hehe!

I once saw an episode where the woman talked so nasty*infact SCREAMED all the time to her husband to-be and she called him all the names under the sun and she was HORRID to him- if i was that man i would be so put off marrying her- the way she treated him it was terrible!!! i felt so sorry for the guy! I would have dug a grave and put her in there to shut her up! haha!! oh gosh that show gives me the chills! YOU ARE NOT A BRIDEZILLA!!

I just wish people were more involved. Not in the financial way but in the planning aspect. The things my mom said to me still haunt me and it just makes me feel aweful. And Df's mother isn't being that wonderful either... even when we were planning our home wedding before this she was concerned that my half the guest list would be too big.. umm... helllloooo, you're an only child, my mother is one of 4 and my dad is one of three. I have a large italian family i'm sorry! :sad2:
But like you said its our day and i'm going to figure out a way to make both of us happy.

Thank you SOOOO much for the kind words of encouragement!:hug:
And i agree that i just dont want any regrets after the wedding. I dont want to go home and think... i wish i did this... or i wish i did that... :sad2: But then again i dont want to think it was a waste either. Its so confusing. We'll see.... we definatly want to do things on the honeymoon so after the ceremony costs we'll see how much extra a DP is... i dont want to cut out fun things on the honeymoon. Ugh so many different things i need to think about.

Ok so the only way i'm going to feel better is to number crunch. I showed DF the pictures of SCP and DP's there and inbetween killing people on call of duty he told me that he thinks it'll be cool and a good way to have a DP without spending alot at EPCOT. Good boy! Talking to him about wedding stuff while he plays CoD is the best way to get what i want!:rolleyes1
so number crunching....
Escape package = 4750$
my bouquet upgrade = ? a few escape brides upgraded with not cost so heres hoping i'm a lucky one too!
two gerbera daisy wands = $35 each for a 70$ total for my two sisters
two extra bouts = 12.50$ each so $25 total for both DF's brothers
Cake upgrade = 150$ i'm going by what karen was quoted on her old cake of choice, but will cut if needed
rose petals down the aisle at SBP = $65 per my sales consultant
Sand Ceremony = $35 per my sales consultant
rose petal staged exit = 3$ per person x 16 people is 48$
Ceremony Total = $5143 so lets round up and make it $5200
Dinner at BOMA = $650 roughly between tax gratuity and drinks. We may use the TIW card or our own DDP so it could be alittle less but lets aim high to avoid sticker shock shall we?
SCP DP
$500 F&B minimum (per lurkyloo who is all knowing) We are going to try and stick VERY close to this! I'm sure if i explain that to my planner she'll work with me on it... i hope
$75 set up fee
12$ per glowing gel thing so we'll need no more than 5 so $60 total
Photography = ? I just emailed randy to see if he is available and how much it would be to have him come back for the DP
So without photography DP = $635 but round up to $675... again avoiding sticker shock!
so everything so far is..... :teacher: $6525 If we put the DP on the credit card and pay it off $5850 Not Bad! Between DF and I we should have enough to pay for everything with wiggle room and we'll still be able to do the things we want to do on the honeymoon! :cloud9:
I feel MUCH better about everything now that i've crunched the numbers. If my numbers are wrong PLEASE let me know... dont let me be nieve! :rotfl2:

Hahahaha!!! I thought you'd sense it!
Anyway yes it looks like everything is a go! It feels good to know that everything will be paid for. And this is assuming we dont get any help. My dad had expressed awhile ago that although he doesn't have the money right now he'll wants to be able to help eventually... i have a feeling he might grab the bill from us at BOMA Or give us a big gift. I'm not counting on it obviously (havent talked to him in a month or two) but its a possibility. We could always sell or return gifts from the bridal shower to help pay for things HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I kid i kid!

Oh, and for the bridal shower, you can register for the disney honeymoon card (I cant remember what it is called) and you could always use some of that to help pay for Boma. Than extra money could be spent at the DP or your vacay!

As soon as I saw your comment about the large Italian family I started laughing. It took me right back to it all, nasty comments and making suggestions about wedding plans. My dh is from one of those, with something near 75 1st cousins...it was insane, but we are still together!
Don't go overbord on cc because you can, only because you want too. I agree not to go into debt entering marriage. It is b-a-d. And a small home party is all you need if that is what the two of you decide on. Fun and casual and intimate, always better than two long rows of tables where you can't see everyone. imo, of course.

Awww  I went through the same thing with all the number crunching headaches.
For me, personally, I felt like this was the last big "event" of my life and I didn't want to look back at it with regret. We didn't put anything on the credit card, paid for it by ourselves, and are by no stretch of the imagination rich.
Basically, we just lived like peasants in order to have the wedding. Just off the top of my head; do you have cable? Cancel it. You'll have $500 in 5-6 months. Turn the heat down really really low this winter. Don't go out to eat. Make pasta frequently. Don't buy any new clothes. Don't buy any wedding related trinkets unless you are 100% positive they will be used. Get movies from the library. Cancel your cell phone and get a prepaid for right now; only use when 100% necessary. Talk with people over skype or AIM or something. My life for the 4-5 months leading up to the wedding was pretty boring. All I did was go to work and workout. We did nothing, went nowhere, and bought nothing. Would I do it again to pay for the wedding I wanted; yes.
Don't upgrade the cake. Wait for 40% coupons from Michael's in the paper and buy the sand ceremony yourself. The glow gel things at the DP aren't that necessary. Sure they were cool in that moment, but they are in none of the pictures and the tables will be cluttered with purses, food, etc, and they lose their pizazz quickly.
And I'll be bold and throw this thought out there...if you are really stressing about regretting not doing certain things at the wedding...cut some stuff from the honeymoon. The Deluxe Villas are going to be there the next time you go. Now I know you've said the honeymoon is really important and you want a lot of quality time with DH; but just a thought.
Now granted, I don't have a house and probably won't anytime in the foreseeable future, but I think saving $500 in the next 11 months should be doable. Maybe you'll be able to return some Christmas gifts for money ;):lmao:

Thanks Meghan! When i started saving in June i did out the math and i'll have 4500$ saved up by the time of the wedding if i continue doing 75$ a week. Once in a while we get bonuses at work so thats going right in there! And if i have any extra money that i can spare, that'll go in there too. And thats just me, DF can make good money doing a side job here and there plus his job. So we were hoping to have somewhere aroung 10,000$ saved up. We figured still be cost efficient and hope that we dont use that much so we have something when we get home.

Yes we have a LARGE family. My communion party have a guest list of 250 people. I dont remember much of it but i do remember it was a big deal and being shy around all the people. But even with the at home wedding we were cutting back ALOT on my side to try and keep things equal... but DF's mother didn't understand that there is only so many people we can cut out. Not my fault they dont come from a large family. ugh... anyway
Not its definatly NOT a good thing to start a marriage off in debt and DF wouldn't allow it. I will definatly NOT be putting anything more than the DP on the CC, and thats if we even end up doing the DP. I'm definatly going to keep the party at the house super casual. I'm not wasting money on that... sorry.

You're so sweet to help me out with this. Its been rough because we really haven't been spending. I think we've gone out once in the last two months. I think we may cut out upgrading the cake ( :sad1: ) and I'm glad you told me that the gel glow things aren't really necessary. I kind of wanted them for the atmosphere because i feel like where we aren't in EPCOT atmosphere might be lacking at SCP... but its good to know i can cut them if i want to.
With the villas we kind of lucked out, my aunt is a DVC member and is giving us our honeymoon stay on her. :thumbsup2 And we rented points for the AKV's and its only going to cost us 500$ so i think that we can keep. We also may end up cutting out some things we want to do on the honeymoon. One thing we wont give up is the dolphin swim! I REALLY want to do it and so does DF... But with the disney visa i get a discount on all tours... We'll see how much the discount is for but heres hoping its enough to help squeeze some funds!

Good evening girls...
I am feeling much better today and after talking to a few people at work i am feeling really good about the DP. It is a once in a lifetime oppertunity and i dont think i'm going to regret doing it one bit! :goodvibes
So i'm not going to stress out about it anymore until we get the ball rolling with DFTW. so Adam and Katie's wedding 10/2/2010 SBP/BOMA/SCP :woohoo:
On to other things... DF's attire. I think that a full on tuxedo would be too much for a daytime wedding at SBP. And i dont know if it still applies but i remember a rule with not mixing navy blue and black. Soooo i found this on the carolyn allen website... what do you think? Just imagine it with a fuschia rose bout. Do you think it'll look ok? I've never seen anyone use a navy blue tux in a wedding... well i have online but not in person.

I really like it and since your colors are navy and fuschia, I think it fits in perfectly. I really like the silver vest with it too, I think it looks really elegant. Even though it's not the "traditional" tux, it's not too out there and it still has a very classic look to it.

I think everyone has pretty much addressed this already but I just wanted to reiterate that YOU ARE NOT BEING A BRIDEZILLA! This is your wedding, it should be one of the happiest days of your life! Your dress is GORGEOUS and you should definately wear it as long as possible! I would wear it to Boma for sure... I wouldn't worry about "inconveniencing" anyone with it:rotfl:I think your fellow diners will be thrilled to share in the magic of a Disney wedding. The only thing I would worry about would be spilling food on your dress at the buffet but if you have someone help you it should be fine:thumbsup2 As for the DP I would go for it! It sounds like financially it should be attainable and your estimates for your BEO look MORE than reasonable! I wish I could get mine down like that:lmao:
Any thoughts?
I LOVE this suit:love: I think it will be PERFECT with your wedding plans! And with the pink bout it will be AMAZING!

I love non-traditional attire!! I am so against it, that I won't even let DF wear a tux (not that he wants too) :lmao: I think colour is becoming a trend in menswear for weddings, and I personally think it is nice to not always have the traditional black!
Thanks Karen! I dont really want DF in a traditional tux anyway. He was in one for his friends wedding and although he looked handsome it just wasn't him... so something more non traditional i think will looke better. :thumbsup2
I really like it and since your colors are navy and fuschia, I think it fits in perfectly. I really like the silver vest with it too, I think it looks really elegant. Even though it's not the "traditional" tux, it's not too out there and it still has a very classic look to it.
YAY! I'm glad you like it too! Df thinks its "sheek" lol his exact words. :rotfl2:
Awww! Great story, love it! :) :goodvibes You two have been together forever, just like us!
Side note: I don't want tuxes either! They're waaay too formal for SBP (IMO), so I want to do brown suits! :thumbsup2
Yea DF is pretty sweet. :cloud9:
I'm glad another SBP bride doesn't want a formal tux. :yay:
Ohh I like that!! I think it would look really pretty with a fushia bout!!
I always trust what you say. You're always so into "the look" so i am glad i have your approval on this.
I love that suit.
Thanks hun!
WOW- I don't read your PJ for just a few days and I'm WAAAAYYYYYY behind again:confused3
:rotfl:I'm not up early... I hadn't been to bed yet:rotfl: I am sooooo happy you decided on the Gerbera daisies- I know you love them and they will be perfect!

I'm starting to think that i'll wear my dress to BOMA. :lovestruc I'll just bring a bib incase i spill anything and i'll man DF and my BM's get me food. :rolleyes1 I also forgot that we are going to get another tax return before the wedding! DUH! so that'll help pay for things too! :woohoo:
Im glad you like the suit too. I think it'll look really great with the BM dresses and the fuschia flower bouts. :goodvibes

Yes DF comes out with these things and i'm like "What did you just say?!" lol He's too much!
And yea i totally forgot about the tax refund and i think that because we have the house we'll get more back than we're used to. So i'm going to take what I get and put half in the "wedding fund" and half for my check account. I'm one of those worry warts that always likes to have money incase something happens. But it definatly makes me
feel better about the whole budget thing.
Oh and I finally got an email back from Randy. You girls were right and he is going to charge 250$ he said that he has taken photos there before and that the view of the fireworks from there is excellent. That being said i did email the roots too. I really love their work but couldn't afford them to do the wedding. But i figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask how much it would be for them to come out and do our DP. I'm probably going to stick with Randy but Mandy kind of got me nervouse after her experience and you never know.. randy could have someone else book him before i officially get the DP booked.
Alright that is all.... i'm off to work!

He did. I just want to talk to DF one more time about everything and make sure everything is a go as far as the DP is concerned. I sill have not heard from my contact at DFTW about information on DP's (thank god i have you girls to give me that stuff) or if the night we want is still available as of now. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that a wishes bride doesn't take my spot. i'm pretty such we'll get 10/2/2010 for our ceremony but the DP worries me alittle.

I am behind I guess. I saw the tux and it was grey! I have been looking for a navy tux FOREVER!! I am curious if they rent it somewhere else?! Sorry I'm just so excited. my DF wants to wear some crazy vintage suit and I have been looking and looking for navy tuxes to have the boys wear. Hope you don't mind...but I might need to steal this idea! I am shocked

Somehow I never found my way to your new PJ. I am so glad you were able to get everything sorted out. I love the idea of having a send-off party at home.
Your bouquet pictures are so cute, I love the colors! The tux for DF is also great! I've just been skimming so far, but am excited to hear all your plans and how things work out for the DP.
I noticed your concern about Randy, remember a photographer is a personal preference. Always tell your photographer (no matter who they are) the type of style and the list of certain pictures you want and everything should work out perfectly. We had Randy for our e-pics and wedding and loved him. We've always found him extremely easy to work with and his wife Linda is great with customer service too.
As in all business, if 10 people go to the same restaurant and eat the same meal they will all walk away with different opinions. Don't just take the advice of brides on here, Randy has also won awards from places like The Knot :goodvibes

i have looked at them on that magicalkingdoms website. I like gray too! I originally wanted them in a gray tux with a navy blue vest and the fuschia bout, but DF didn't like that as much as the navy tux. Either way i'd be happy and since he's going to be wearing it he can chose!

Steal away love! I kind of think the navy tux adds to the vintage feel... i dont know why but it reminds me of the tuxes on Mad Men. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you made your way over here! And thank you for making me feel alittle bit better about randy. I agree that 99% of his work i love. I'd like to think that i've done alot of research and alot of website stalking to know that Randy is the photographer for us. :surfweb: It got to the point where DF told me that if he needs to look at one more picture by randy, the roots, or misty he'd kill me :lmao: So i still do have confidence that everything will turn out ok. I've seen your pictures and they came out amazing :lovestruc But i will definatly be making a list of pictures i want to have and i'll even probably give him some names of previous brides that i'd like to have pictures like. :thumbsup2 I'm sure everything will be alright.

OK so i'm kind of re-evaluating my views on randy. i'm slightly worried about how my pictures are going to come out. So i emailed randy back about the DP and asked him if he could send me some examples of SCP DP pictures he's taken. If i dont like them then i think i might hire another photographer for the DP. Only because i know that photographing fireworks is challenging and sometimes does require alot of editing. I have to say that i'm slightly worried about having a morning wedding because of lighting. I dont mean to worry but its our wedding pictures... i never get to see DF dressed up and i want to capture it.
Anyway we'll see... i'll keep you girls posted. :goodvibes

I know a bride on one of the other boards who had her DP photographed by Randy at SCP, so I'll ask her if she is on the Dis too. I know there is a bride who recently posted on here who had Wishes shots done by Randy on the Grand I which is kind of similar to the view from SCP. I'll see if she might be able to post some on your thread. I don't remember her screen name on this board.

Hi, Vanessa tells me that you are a little nervous about having Randy photograph your DP at Sago Cay Point so I thought I might be able to help.
Randy was our photographer for our VR in April this year and I couldn't be happier with my pictures. DH and I did meet with Randy about six months before our VR just to chat and make sure we were all on the same page regarding the type of shots we wanted etc. I also emailed him some examples of photos I liked so that he could be sure to get those shots for me too. I think it's essential for you to make sure that you let him know what type of shots you want, whether you want photoshopping, b&w etc.
We had a Wishes Cruise on the Grand 1 and Randy took some great shots of the fireworks for us. Our cruise lasted for two hours, from 9pm until 11pm (Wishes was at 10pm), and we got a lot of photos lol. I'll just post a few of them, pm me if you want any other info.

Randy is very easy to get along with. When we met him I told him that I admired his work and had seen quite a few pics from other brides that I really liked. He was interested to know which ones so I said that I would email my favorites to him. For example, I had seen pics that another bride had taken at the monorail station at the GF and I really wanted some shots there. He made sure we went to the station and got those pics. He also asked the monorail driver if we could take pics in the front, where the driver sits, and he said yes! So I have pics of my DH and I sitting in the front and also in the drivers seat! I was thrilled! :woohoo:

Yes, VRs are treated exactly like weddings. I got the four hour limo included, my ceremony was at 2.30pm, my limo started at 1.30pm and finished at 5.30pm. I had twelve guests plus DH and I, and we were all staying at the Beach Club Villas. The limo holds 8 so it made two trips to get us all round to the Boardwalk. When the ceremony and cake cutting was over, the limo took us over to the GF to get photos there and then took us back to the Yacht Club for our dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at 5.30pm.
The Wishes Cruise was arranged for 9pm, I didn't have a dessert party. My planner organised a mini-motorcoach to take us all from the Yacht Club to the GF and then back to the Beach Club after it was over. The mini motorcoach cost $435.75.

Oh this is good to know! If it was up to me we'd just take a disney bus over to MK and then the monorail over to GF but DF thinks that'll be alittle odd in our wedding outfits. :rotfl2: We'll have to look into our options for transporting guests from AKV to GF. :drive:

Since we've been talking about the men's attire and the BM's dresses I figured we'd discuss my gown a little bit.
If you didn't know about my gown let me refresh... I bought my gown on ebay (yes ebay) for 300$. Its brand new with the tags on it but its a size 12... i'm a size 7 is regular clothes and i tried on dresses at DB in sizes 8 and 10. (why do they have to make dresses a size or two smaller?! :confused3 ) Anyway so it obviously needs to be altered. I love how my dress looks but other than putting it on myself with it hanging off of me i dont really know what i look like in it. I'm slightly afriad that i'll wait to get it altered and not like it. :guilty: Here are the only pictures i have of me in it.

(please forgive my hair)
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/bridae005-1-1.jpg
(my face is hideouse in this pic so i cropped it lol) Anyway you can see that its wayyy too low here.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/krloco821/008-3-1.jpg
And this is what happens when i do hold it up... theres a large gap between me and the dress.
This is what it is supposed to look like and i dont think it looks like this on me. :sad2: I just keep hoping that it'll look right once it gets altered. but how soon can i get it altered? i've never had to have anything altered before so i dont know when or how to go about it. Any suggestions? I mean clearly i donyt have a long torso like the model does so is the dress going to fall funny on me? :confused3

I think once it's altered it will be perfect:thumbsup2 I definately know the feeling though that the dress doesn't fall quite right on you and the anxiety it can produce:eek: I would start shopping around for alterations people now and just get opinions on what sort of changes they would make to the dress and then an estimate on the price. I think that will help give you the best idea of what the dress will look like and will hopefully set your mind at ease:hug:

I think the dress is lovely! :goodvibes It really accentuates your tiny waist! I can only imagine it will look even better after getting it altered. :thumbsup2
As for when to alter, hmm... good question. If you did it now, you would have to make sure you don't really gain/lose any weight by the time of your wedding, or else you would have to do some more alterations closer to. Buuut, if it gives you piece of mind that you found the perfect dress, go for the alterations now, or at least look into them. :thumbsup2

Thats more what i should say... its not that i dont like the dress... i'm afraid of it not falling the right way on me. I have two places that i was thinking about going to fo alterations... after Nov.16th i am only working four day work weeks (i get 4 weeks vacation time and had alot left over because we've been short staffed so i NEED to use it lol) and i get the whole week inbetween Christmas and new years off so i might make an appointment to check them out. :thumbsup2

Thanks Sarah! I'm glad you like it! :goodvibes I agree that from the side it looks like i have a small waist but from the front i think it looks aweful because of how it falls. The crystal detailing is supposed to be alot higher and its not.
But i definatly think i'm going to have a professional take a look at it and let me know that they think. i dont want to loose alot of weight its more toning i want to do liky my arms and back fat need to go! lol So maybe it'll be worth it for piece of mind to get it done sooner than later.

I think you need to speak to whoever is going to alter it to see when is best to get it done. The people who are doing mine said December is a real quiet month for them so they'd be able to fit me in whenever I wanted and they'd do it in one day, other places might not work like that though and might want the dress for a few weeks so I think its best to ask now and then get it done as close to the wedding as possible so you know it fits the body shape you'll have then.
I think the dress looks lovely on you.

Your dress is beautiful. I think it will definitely look perfect when it's altered. I would try to find a seamstress now and at least have them take a look at it. If you're not planning on losing much weight, it couldn't hurt to have it done sooner rather than later. If you're in the process of losing weight, you could always just talk to a seamstress and maybe they could at least pin it for you so you can get an idea of how it'll look when it's done.

Well thank you for saying you like the dress! And i agree that it does depend of what needs to be done and how much time it will take. I'm emailing a women that came highly recommended to see if i can just bring the dress is and show it to her to see how much it will cost and when she'd need it to do the alterations.
I was thinking of doing the navy with silver but should i do DF in navy blue and maybe white? or cream? or should i keep them all in the same?

I definitely agree, you shouldn't have any problem with the alterations. I love You might want to contact a regular seamstress directly. I have one that we had worked with on things for years (all the way back to my prom dresses) that I had alter my dress. She does a lot of wedding dresses and I'm sure you could find a good seamstress in your area too :thumbsup2

No, there was no extra charge. The only extra thing I paid for was $3 for the crystal Mickey and that was a total waste of money.

Too funny you noticed audrey! I have a Marilyn Monroe on the opposite wall :cutie: Before we finished the main floor of the house that was our "movies" room so i thought it was fitting to have them. Now that room is under construction and will soon be the "game/movies" room. Its a split level house and we really dont need two living rooms. We're hoping to get a pool and poker table down there and some lazy boys with a big TV to watch the football games and stuff. But thats all wishful thinking right now since everything house related is on hold.

I have a few questions for you girls about DP's.
I obviously get the general idea of one but i dont know logistics and i've still NOT heard back from the "sales consultant" and DFTW. So here are my questions....
1.) how long is a DP? Do you get there an hour or so ahead and then watch the fireworks and its over? or do you hang out alittle while after the fireworks?
2.) As far as creating a menu goes can you add things like after dinner drinks (like bailey's) ? What about wine?
3.) How would the timeline work? I know that other brides like Lurkyloo had her ceremony in the morning and then the DP but since we're having dinner at BOMA how would it work? Should we make the dinner alittle later so we can all leave right from AKV?
4.) How would we get there from the AKV? should we just get cabs or can i see if i can split up the hours i get the limo for as an escape bride? How much would extra time with the limo be?
and lastly
5.) how would i set up my invitations? where the ceremony is in the morning and then the dinner and DP. Not the conventional wedding timeline  We are going to try and make the ceremony alittle later in the day... either the 12 O'Clock or 2:30 but the reason we're doing the 10am is because we figured that would be the less popular choice and we'll be able to keep our date and location.
Ok well that should be enough to keep you girls busy :rotfl2:
Hi there,
I just caught up with your new PJ and love the sound of everything. Your dress is lovely and I'm sure it will look even more stunning when it is altered.
I have my dress fitting in a couple of weeks and have lost 22lbs and 3.5" in places so it will be interesting to see how it fits now! Luckily it is a corset back and most of the weight has come off my waist and hips so it should be fine.
We are really lucky with family. Tim hasn't spoken to his for 12 years and it's just my Mom and Dad who are so into what we are doing. I can just imagine how stressful a time you are having with them. I really feel you shouldn't compromise what you want for other people, and wish you all the best with them.
The suit you posted looks like the one Tim chose on the Carolyn Allens site. It has a longer length jacket and is more unusual than the traditional tux. He is going for a black suit with red waistcoat and white shirt which fits in with our colours perfectly. Tim and my Dad also have long blue shiny wigs and Elton John glasses to wear... Sigh...
We have Randy booked and are really happy with our choice. I have collected some of our favourite shots and am going to mail them across to him next month. he has really taken his time with us to make sure we get the type of shots and style we like and I think he is great. I really feel for Mandy not getting good photos.
You mentioned about private dining earlier in the PJ and i thought I'd post some info for you in case you were still thinking about it.
We are getting married at SBP at 1000 and then having lunch at the GF at Sago Cay. We chose the menu from around a dozen that were sent through, and the price was $56 per head. That was based on a minimum of 20 people and as we only have 7 the price increased to $72 per head. You then have to factor in 21% gratuity and 6.5% sales tax, and the $50 small party fee as Chilly posted.
From there we are hopping over to POR for some photos and then back to the Boardwalk. We have dinner booked at the Yachtsman a couple of hours later and then after that we are heading into epcot for Illuminations.
We thought long and hard about what to do for lunch and dinner. We spent the same amount we had budgeted for 12 people on the 7 and went for private dining. We were told by our guests that under no circumstances were we paying for dinner and they were paying for their own. You can imagine that we didn't argue to much!
We thought about a DP but none of the guests (apart from me and DF) are big dessert fans and although it would have been an experience it would have been a bit of a waste.
We (well, I) decided to have aisle petals and the staged petal exit as I think it looks great in photos. Although it wasn't in the budget we decided it was worth it. We also upgraded the cake because I saw a picture of one on here and we both fell in love with it. It fits better with our theme than the standard cake with Mickey topper. I think that is all we have upgraded.
Have fun planning and don't let the family get to you :goodvibes

1.) how long is a DP? Do you get there an hour or so ahead and then watch the fireworks and its over? or do you hang out alittle while after the fireworks?
I believe it's officially scheduled for an hour. I think we were there about 10 minutes before the official start time, and after the show the escort told us to take our time.
2.) As far as creating a menu goes can you add things like after dinner drinks (like bailey's) ? What about wine?
You can do a 'Bill on Consumption' bar, where you are just charged for whatever people drink. However, there is a $100 bartender fee. If you post your email address, I can forward you the .pdfs I have about bars.
3.) How would the timeline work? I know that other brides like Lurkyloo had her ceremony in the morning and then the DP but since we're having dinner at BOMA how would it work? Should we make the dinner alittle later so we can all leave right from AKV?
What time does your dinner start? Mine started at 5pm, and the DP was scheduled to start at 8. I think 3 hours for dinner is good. You have to take transportation into account. I was just moving from The Dolphin to Epcot, so the transportation was nothing. But AK to GF is a little more of a drive.
4.) How would we get there from the AKV? should we just get cabs or can i see if i can split up the hours i get the limo for as an escape bride? How much would extra time with the limo be?
They will not split the limo hours. It has to be continuous. I had the same issue. What I did was get one-way town cars that seat 4 for $25 each. The way back everyone just walked. If you have them round-trip then you need to pay as if it were a charter, because they sit there and wait for you. Cabs back are definitely an option.

Here is my answers, since they are a bit different
.
1.) how long is a DP? Do you get there an hour or so ahead and then watch the fireworks and its over? or do you hang out alittle while after the fireworks?
I have mine (in Epcot) scheduled in my BEO for 1.5 hours, and I am only serving food for an hour. We are there from 8-9:30, so an hour before the fireworks start. My Sago Cay one is 2.5 hours, but we are doing dinner there.
2.) As far as creating a menu goes can you add things like after dinner drinks (like bailey's) ? What about wine?
If you don't want to pay for the bartender, you can just serve wine (or champagne). They don't make you have a bartender for this.
3.) How would the timeline work? I know that other brides like Lurkyloo had her ceremony in the morning and then the DP but since we're having dinner at BOMA how would it work? Should we make the dinner alittle later so we can all leave right from AKV?
I would say leave it earlier. Since you are going to a buffet, people will be eating dessert there, so you may want to space it out more. You can just hang around AKV for awhile and have pics done, than head to the GF and have pics done...that could take like 1-2 hours!
4.) How would we get there from the AKV? should we just get cabs or can i see if i can split up the hours i get the limo for as an escape bride? How much would extra time with the limo be?
You can get a mini bus or van (I can't remember what it is called) and it isn't too badly priced. I was scared about transportation because of the examples of prices I have seen on here, but it isn't that bad. I am actually getting mine split, but that is because I have a limo and a bus (with the new Epcot package). I don't think you can split the hours on just one vehicle.
I wouldn't worry about that yet, wait until you know what time you are getting married at. When I told people we would be having a huge break, a lot of them actually got excited about it :rotfl:. The good thing about a morning ceremony, and a DP at night is they have something to do all day!

Well My, my! You girls have been busy! Thank you for all the info!:thumbsup2
For the amount of time... i'm guessing since it'll only be for Dessert and not a meal it'll be about an hour-ish. So thats good... maybe we can get there early for pics like Karen suggested.... i REALLY want a pic of us on the monorail! :cloud9:
About alcohol.... Katie i'm going to PM you my Email address. If i dont think too many people will be drinking I may just get a couple bottles of wine for us Wine-O's!
Transportation.... I'll probably do the town cars. I'm kind of hoping a couple people will be renting cars. (too bad DF and I won't be old enough to rent them :rolleyes1 ) But I have a feeling my dad might and possibly DF's parents will. If they do i'll get the town cars for One way and make sure they leave their cars at the GF so they can just leave right from there. But even if they dont i wouldn't mind getting the town cars for the trips too and from.
Invites.... I think i will wait. Part of the reason we also liked doing the morning is because we know that the younger guests are going to want to do some rides and stuff. So I kind of hope we get the 10am. Just to make sure everyone enjoys their time. :goodvibes
Thanks for all of the info girls! It is really helping me out... ALOT!:worship:

Yes a standard DP is 1 hour, any increase means an increase in cost. For Sago Cay I think they start the DP so Wishes is half way through, at least that is what mine is. They can definately do wine etc at it as well. I think you should keep Boma to 5pm so you've got plenty of time to eat, plenty of time to travel, plenty of time for photos, and most important room for all those desserts.
