Hey!

We aren't DVC members, but are staying at Old Key West from July 29th - August 1st! I read someone that the maids come on the 4th day? So that means the maids do not come daily? Sorry for the question if it's stupid  So that means since we are only spending 3 nights the maids won't come at all? Oh well, it's not such a big deal :p

You are correct. The 4th day however, is not full housekeeping services, but rather "trash & towel" service. I believe if you are staying 8 days or more, day 4 would be full service (I think that's right).

Have Fun!

EDIT: If you are paying cash you get normal, daily housekeeping (I think)

I see! Thanks! We are renting points from someone!

Thanks

Most of us see the lack of daily housekeeping as a plus. No worries about when to be out of your room, you can leave your room any way you want to, cheaper tips, and you can fall asleep in your underwear on your couch.....personally, my favorite no-maid perc.

Also you can request that they move the T & T day to, say, the middle of your stay.

Yes since you are renting points you woudl not get daily housekeeping, I believe people who pay cash for DVC resorts do get daily housekeeping.

and yes over a three day stay the housekeeping would not show up, but if you fill up the trash there are closets in each buiilding to empty them yourself if you need to.

DVC members or persons renting from DVC members get a trash and towel service on the fourth day (and to get to four you count your day of arrival). Persons renting through Disney get full daily service. You can also purchase full service while there for any one or more days at $25/30/40 per day for a studio/1BR/2BR by just asking for it when you check in or calling housekeeping.

Since Mike is only staying 3 nights there will be no trash & towel since day 4 is checkout day????

The way I look at it - housekeeping is part of the rate of staying at a regular WDW hotel. It's really not free, you pay as part of the room rate. At a DVC resort, you have the choice if you want to pay or not. You can also pay $10 for an extra trash & towel or $6 for 4 sets of towels.

We thought it was going to be a big deal when I joined DVC, but found we don't miss it either. We get a 1 bedroom, so we pop the towels in the washer.

I think you will find that you will not miss the service. The only thing I actually missed was having the bed made daily--a treat for me--but as long as you straighten the covers, it is not a big deal.

There are locations in each building where you can drop your trash every day, and extra bags are located in each trash can. You can drop them at the trash on your way out each day, and it only takes a minute. Unless you are staying in a studio (no washer/dryer in these units), you can wash your towels and washcloths each day. Just take some extra detergent with you.

Sounds like you have not stayed there before, and I hope you have a wonderful time.

We too are renting points and would like to know what to expect regarding maid service. We will be there 6 days (checking out on day 6) so I am assuming we will get the T&T service on day four. We will be in a studio. How many towels are provided? Should we bring a couple of our own? Also, is there a place to do our laundry somwhere since we will not have the w/d, or do we have to lug our dirty stuff over to the laundry facilites in the main hotel area? How much is a load of laundry? We will bring those detergent tablet thingys with us. We will be at BCV if that helps.

Thanks!

A few years back we stayed at OKW and paid cash for the room and received full maid service daily. Checking in there was some confusion at the desk, they kept asking "You're not a DVC member" and at that time, no.

Carrieberry,

You get a full set for each person a suite holds. SO for a studio, you will get 4 sets (towel, washcloth, etc) , and one for a bathmat.

About laundry, I do not know for sure about BCV, but at VWL, they have laudy rooms on each floor for the studios around there. The machines are free, but the laundry detergent is not.

Hi,

Last summer we stayed in a one bedroom at VWL and did not miss the daily maid service. I brought a few extra towels and washcloths, and it was very convenient to throw them into the washer.

This month we'll be staying in a studio at OKW and have never stayed there before. I know the studios do not have washers and dryers, but will there be a laundry room in our building for us to use? We are arriving on a Tuesday, paying cash for Saturday night (DVC discount), and using points for Sunday and Monday. We have three separate linked reservations. Trash and towel day is Friday. Does this mean that we'll get maid service on Saturday since we are paying cash for that night? If we do, I just might move my trash and towel day to Thursday.

Thanks!

Joanne

The laundry facilities I used during our first stay in a studio were located in the building at the swimming pool. I think each pool area has laundry facilities. There is no charge to use the machines, just provide your own detergent and dryer sheets. We actually used the pool area around on Millers Road and if I remember correctly there were 4 washers and 4 dryers, all of which I had to myself at the time.

I believe I read that the laundry facilities for BCV are on the fourth floor.

If your cash nights were made thru MS, then you will NOT have daily housekeeping. This is the case even without the member discount.

If you have reserved thru CRO, you will get daily housekeeping- but may not be able to get that night linked to other days of your stay.

I LIKE THE IDEA OF NOT HAVING DAILY SERVICE. I LIKE TO KNOW THAT I WILL FIND MY STUFF WHERE I LEFT IT INSTEAD OF SEARCHING WHEN WE GET BACK TO THE ROOM.

I'm hyperventilating..........LOL...........You mean we can do our laundry for FREE!?!?! We just need to bring the soap? We are renting points at VWL in Sept and this is the first I have heard of this. (don't know what questions to ask the person we rented from if I don't know what is available) Holy Cow! I can pack light and just do our laundry there. Woo-Hoo! (oh, no. Now I'm on a mission. Can I pack everything we need into carryons? Now, we'll only need 3 days worth of clothes.............hmmmm ;))

Thanks for bring up that little tidbit of info, Mike. You just made my day!

At least that's what I remember about the laundry , and I didn't see anyone correct me, so I think I may be right on that fact. :D

Can someone confirm this fact for us?

Yes Mikescott, laundry is free. For the 1 & 2 bedrooms and Grand Villas, the laundry room is in your unit. For the studios, you have to go the laundry facility.

:D :D :D

I did laundry at VWL in May. It is free, but there are only two washers, and 4 dryers. There was no one there so I didn't have to wait. But if someone else is doing laundry you will more than likely have a small wait. Not to sound too stupid, but I wasn't sure when I put my laundry in how to start the machine, because they still have all the coin mechanisms on the machines. I just pushed in the empty coin slots and that does the trick. The laundry is on the first floor in the middle of some rooms, so I had to ask to find it.(It wasn't real obvious)

Not to sound too stupid

  I was in the same position first time I used the machines. Stood there staring at it until I realized they had "permanent" slugs built into the coin mechanism.
