As you SHOULD know I am coming across the pond in 11 days :cool1: and we thought we would spread our wings a bit and go the the beach ;)
What do you suggest - it will only be for the day so not too long a drive and maybe a lovely beachfront as well :) We have only been to Cocoa Beach and I wasn't that impressed
Thanks guys :goodvibes

Go to the west coast. Clearwater or so. I live on the east in Daytona Beach and isn't that much, I wouldn't drive here for it lol. But it is pretty nice on the west coast.

We LOVE Siesta Key beach in Sarasota. Its about a 2 hour drive from Orlando and worth every mile to get there and every minute spent there. It was voted the whitest sand in the world in 1987, almost like baby powder. We loved it so much when we first drove there on our non Disney day of the vacation in 2006, that we went again two days later.:goodvibes
If you go though, be sure to re apply sun block often. We found that because the sand is so white, it reflects the sun back up at you causing you to burn/tan really quickly. It is a great little beach town to walk around in too!
I like the West Coast beaches as well, but it depends what you are looking for. Beaches like Clearwater are on the Gulf so there are no waves to speak of -so no action in that regard(but are beautiful). Cocoa is popular but not my favorite either(except for RonJon's maybe) -I would suggest you look into New Smyrna Beach. It's a relatively quiet beach community south of Daytona(about 1-1/2 hours from Orlando) and is part of the Cape Canaveral National Seashore which is very scenic. You can drive right on the beach in certain areas and the surf is usually mild to medium. It's a big, wide beach and offers plenty of room to spread out and relax(even on a busy beach day). Of course, it also is home to an annex of one of Bawb's favorite restaurants -Boston's Fish House! You can get more info here...
