Booked on Monday:cool1:

This will be our 2nd Eastern and hopefully our first uninterrupted 1. We went in Oct 2008 and got diverted to Nassau Bahamas instead of St. Thomas due to a hurricane. Was a great trip but we want to see St. Thomas.

So its me and my Dh Richard booked for 11b.

Post your info here. And we'll list everybody in the first post:)

See post 274 for the fullsized version. Thanks to TIGGER/POOH4 and the DISsigners for this:thumbsup2

Cruise Tee Shirts

After several site go rounds, my sister has helped us find a nice cooperative printer. We'll be ordering the shirts from nuimage printing in DE. For right now we'll use the old image as the shirt example.

It'll look something like this:

http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l598/moluvsdisneymagic/Cruise%20Tshirt%202011/wm-front.jpg

http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l598/moluvsdisneymagic/Cruise%20Tshirt%202011/wm-back.jpg

The actual shirt may be somewhat lighter in color. Price per shirt is $19.95 + 1 time prep fee that will be divided between everybody who orders.

So please EMAIL me at moluvsdisneymagic@cox.net with your sizes and how many you need. My PM box gets rather full these days:lmao:

ORDER DEADLINE IS 8/18/11 :thumbsup2

DISMeet info

And finally Direct from the DVC members' cruise(hope no one minds)
The Elizabeth Swan & Pirate Game

On the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (pirate:). To add more fun, each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan (:bride:). This game was played in the 2009 Member Cruise thread and was so much fun. It really got people chatting. When will you get an :bride:or a pirate: ?

Every 99th post = 1 ES (:bride:)
Every 499th post = 2 ES
Every 999th post = 3 ES

Every 100th post = 1 Pirate (pirate:)
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates

We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.

Thanks to Lauralooneyfordisney for supplying the prizes for the game. :worship::worship:

*See thread for current standings*

So if you are checking in for the cruise or even just considering it, pop- in and say hi. PM or email me your info to include on the official list which is stored on our Google Spreadsheet https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AvWIVBg4vfhGdHF5ekV0aXJyZ2V2VGNZeGhMbVpIW EE&hl=en&output=html

We booked 9/28. This is our first Carribean cruise and our second Disney cruise. Our first cruise was during Disney's first trip to Mexico in 2005.

For us we have dh Tim, and my two kids, Thad & Kesli both aged 17 at the time of the cruise and me. We are booked in a Cat T room 8532.

Originally we were booked for this same cruise this Thanksgiving but had to postpone due to being furloughed at work :-(. Now we are praying that no furloughs occur next year!

Hi there

We transferred a booking we made onboard last yr to this cruise on the 28th. We are trying to finish out the Eastern itinerary b4 trying the Western. This will be our 2nd cruise. Had a great time on the first. I can't remember which cabin we have waiting for my TA to send me a copy of the invoice. I know we're on the 6th deck though.

Welcome aboard and happy planning:)

Hi!

We are so looking forward to this cruise! Having had to postpone the one we had scheduled this year was heartbreaking. We are staying in a suite for the first time and were able to secure on of the mid-ship Cat T's! Not sure what we'll do for excursions, we didn't do any going to Mexico so we are all looking forward to that planning! We're only about 2 years away! Woot Woot!

and I booked again today!! :cool1: Just a little bit disappointed with myself that I didn't book while onboard (silly planning on my behalf).

Anyway, it will be me (28) and my son Josh (6) and we are in a cat 11c.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome to Becky and Josh:cheer2::banana:

We almost DIDN'T book onboard but once we heard what the deal was it was 2 good to say no to another cruise. So the last night of the cruise we waited in line for a good half hr or so to rebook after supper:rotfl:

Melissa: I hear ya about heartbreaking, The cruise we went on last yr was actually pushed back 1 yr due to surgery and I was beyond upset. Cried all the way out of the Dr's office. But the good news is now you have more time to plan and more time to save up all that spending money you'll need:thumbsup2

Irishcowboy. Thanx for posting the link. I haven't always been coherent the past week or so. :rotfl:

I am thrilled to say that I have been chosen to host the DCL House party. I am so excited and so nervose that I won't get anyone to show up :lmao: Now I have to plan out stuff to do. I rattled things off quick on the application.

Count us in too. We booked this cruise 2 weeks ago on the Magic. Very sad to think we were on the Magic just two weeks ago. I guess this will be our last cruise on the Magic as the new ships will take over the 7 day cruises in 2012. We will miss her so let's have a great time one last time. It will be Dan and Renee and DD Kim (12 at that time) and DS James (10 at that time) in a 05C room 6616.

Adding the Honeymooners of the group!

John (future DH) and Beth

This will be a first ever cruise for both of us...so be patient as we join the ranks of DCL cruising addicts. Teach us the ropes, we're willing and eager to learn!

We've been DVC members since 1998 and are all about all things Disney. John is more "Grumpy" though....you know he loves it, but he isn't going to let you know he loves it. He's "Space Mountain and Mission Space", and I'm "It's a Small World and the Teacups". We're "Disney different, but all Disney". But he's all gung-ho for pirate night and is already planning his costume. So if you aren't in for "Yo Ho, Yo Ho It's a Pirates Life for Me" to be sung 50 times, don't sit near us at the party.

As only other Disney addicts would understand, we planned our honeymoon before we set our wedding date. We'll get married on October 1st, the week before.

Can't wait to meet you all and hope everyone has a fun filled and exciting trip and a whole year and a half of excitement to build.

The time goes by fast. Before you know it you are starting the planning and off we go to port canaveral. To make the time go faster, we hang out here on the boards and check out the pic of day. It is so nice to see a nice beach shot while we are in the ice and snow. Our favorite is pics of the hammocks on CC. It is our favorite place (our happy place).

OK I know this is early, but I want to know who's thinking about excursions already? We really didn't do any last cruise except for 1 on an unexpected stop in Nassau. I'm thinking about what to do Castaway Cay this time around, specifically the Waverunner excursion. Has anybody done that?

Sorry I have no pixie dust to get you to the Magic today. The only thing I can suggest is to book a cruise in between now and 10/11. We have one booked this October (10/16/10 Western). We will check out the Magic after drydock for all the new things. Hopefully the pools are not green like after the last drydock. Here is a picture of the Magic in St Thomas where we will be in 20 months.

Just booked today! It will be me, MaryLynn, DD9 and DD6 in room 5650.

It's so far away! I wish it were closer. But I used DVC points to pay for the 2 full fare tickets and this was the first cruise I would have enough points for that!

I expect my kids to be spending lots of time in the kids' clubs (their choice) so I hope to meet some adults here to hang out with a bit!

Hi everyone.:cool1:
Oooooh! I’m so excited, we have just booked our first cruise ever for the 8th October 2011. We have never been on any cruise before so we are a bit nervous.:o

There will be me Laura, My DH Alan and our two sons Liam 16 (at time of cruise) and Connor 12 (at time of the cruise.

We have booked two connecting staterooms, category 11b.
If anyone has any advice or tips they will be more than welcome.
Many thanks. xx:goodvibes

OK your thread starter is back. :cool1:

Had a winter full of minor household drama. I love owning a home. Now its going to be a summer full of family drama. I know this cause it already started:sad2:

BUT Me thinks it is time to get the party started here especially since we save some new cruisers checking in with us. :cheer2::dance3::cheer2:

party::welcome:party:

To everybody who's checked in glad to have you aboard. I have updated the first post with the info everybody's posted so far. May tweak that and have it look nicer but for now just all double check me and make sure I have that correct.

Current goal is not have this thread go lower than page 2. The last cruise i was on had the thread rocking so well we actually went through several full threads b4 even boarding the Magic:lmao: We were going about the same pace as the WB Panama repo and they had far more cruisers on their thread. :rotfl2:

So to reintroduce myself here(and shamelessly add to the post count in this thread) I am Maureen, sailing with DH Richard. This is our 2nd Eastern, but hopefully first finished itinerary. We will be 38 and 52 at sail time, no children.
Looking forward to lazy days at sea and doing excursions this time around. Only did 1 last time because we got diverted to Nassau. Want to do more this cruise.

Question for everybody?

Do we want a website or a facebook group(Private of course) where we can list things like pictures or meet lists etc? Either, both, or neither is fine with me. Majority rules on this 1.

Octoberbride03
05-16-2010, 04:57 PM

Hi Maureen! I vote for Facebook, only because I know how to post things, etc.
I'll take the website too, but will just need some hand holding. :goodvibes

I like your buttons, too. Especially the one about Gibbs and the boat!

Octoberbride03
05-16-2010, 06:31 PM
HI MaryLynn

Thanks for liking the buttons. Got em of FB. I think i have a serious addiction over there LOL. But I've left most of my games:lmao: As for Gibbs, he's really bummed me out this season. He hasn't even started a new boat:lmao: I might have to hurt him. :rotfl2:

Thought of another question while i was working out. ON my last cruise meets thread we had a designated list keeper who kept up with all the different cruisers checking in on the thread. He kept all the info like ages, cabins, seatings etc and sent them out to everybody by email monthly. Is this something we want to do here?

If we do there would be less personal info listed in the first post, and the more personal info in the actual list to mailed out.

We would need somebody to keep the list and take care of the emailing.

Thanks for the lovely welcome.:goodvibes 7th cruise!!!! Fantastic!!!!:)

We have booked late dining due to the boys being older. I thought that they might be busy and wouldn't want to leave their activities too early to get ready. Well our youngest DS anyway, I'm not sure if our older DS will take part in the activities for his age group as he can be quite shy with new people.

I would like to join a facebook group but I will need to wait until after we come home from our summer trip to Orlando, as we've not told the boys or our families yet about the cruise.:rolleyes1 Heehee!

I like to avoid the "What? you're going back again" and "Don't you want to see other parts of the world" conversations.

As for the boys, they are really excited about this year as it's the first time we have gone for three weeks. If we tell them just now it might take the joy out of this years trip. Also Connor will become obsessed, he's a bit like me in that sense. lol He's my wee planning buddy.

Evening cruisers:wave:

So we currently have 2 votes for FB. Who else is chiming in?

*Bambi-Bell*: We did late seating on our last cruise. It was really nice, not rushed at all and not a lot of ambient noise. My advice though would be to keep in mind which nights are the Pirate party and the Midnight dessert buffet. Last time around I was full from supper so didn't actually have anything to eat at the parties. And when you're done supper on the dessert buffet night just go straight to Lumiere's and get in line:lmao: Because ppl will line up while you're eating. It happened to us:rotfl:

Pooh Lover
05-17-2010, 09:17 PM
I did early seating. We have serious behavior problems, especially with my little one, when they get hungry. It's just not worth it to chance the kind of meltdowns she has!

We always eat by 6 at home, otherwise I am in trouble!

Eat by 6!!! :lmao::rotfl2:

I am lucky if I am cooking by 6:lmao: Most days we get home around 4:30, then its walk the dog(Onslow) for however long he needs, usually between 10-20 mins. Then its inside to do a workout dvd. No less than 20 mins but usually 30-40. And then IF the kitchen is clean we decide what to eat:rotfl: If not, its clean the kitchen, check email and cook. So most nights we're eating around 7 or so.

This cruise we have the early seating. Last time we had the late. So it'll be interesting to compare the 2 and see which we like better.

Gotta go finish my night routine and head to bed. Work comes early in the morning.

Goodnight all:cloud9:

Late dining works well with older children. Mine will be 12 and 9 at the time therefore it is early dining for us. The younger kids activities are more geared around early dining. Your older son will be in the Stack. The crew is very good with the kids and get even the shy kids involved. They have parties for them till pretty late at night so you may not see him that much.

I do not worry about the people who say "you are going back again". My family very much enjoys the cruises therefore we keep rebooking. I give them a choice every year of where they want to go (ie WDW) and they just want to go back to Mickey's boat. Kinda of expensive habit but oh well, if the kids are happy, the parents are happy (in the hot tub:banana::banana::banana:)

DTD was fun. You know you just can't resist stopping by if you are anywhere close. I walked around and just got shirts for the family and pins for my nieces. It was a good time. I agree that reality stinks and tomorrow it's back to work. :-(((

We give our DD and DS $25 to spend at Mickey's Mates and my DS got a stuff stitch. He is well loved in the family.

Here is a pic of stitch on the DCL couch relaxing.

We live in northern DE near where I-95 and Del route 1 meet. Rehobeth beach is a very nice area of the state. We usually do Ocean City MD and hit the outlets nearby. Got to love tax free shopping. I drove through VA yesterday on my way back from Florida. Long long drive.

Yes they do have pin trading on DCL. It is not a big as in the parks. They sell pins at Mickey's Mates and have a pin trading station set up in the atrium on deck 3 each evening. Several of the crew have landyards to do trading with such as when you enter topsiders buffet and during officers pin trading one night of the cruise. There is also pin trading/selling at a station on deck 9 by the Mickey pool during the day. Have fun.

I know where you are. My hometown is Havertown, PA. Been going to Rehoboth since I was little so we used to drive that way. Now i'm south and get to go through OC every time. We're going up this weekend. Maybe we're nuts but we should have a nice time.

Good luck with going to beach this weekend. Going through DC traffic on a holiday weekend is brave thing :scared1:. I hope you leave early or late.
Yes we were on the same Omar cruise with you in 2008. Too long a drive for me bring the family. I'm flying into MCO on Friday for the cruise. I try to fly out of BWI where the airport hassle are not as bad as PHL. Also fly SouthWest where they are way better than most on leaving on time.

AH The Skatium:thumbsup2 Hell even the Flyers used to play there for fun. I wonder if that thing is still standing. I heard the Commissioners wanted to tear it down.

That is a fantastic shot of Omar. Round about that time DH and i were sitting in the hottub for awhile.

As for DC traffic..............NO WAY, NO HOW!!:scared1:

We live almost at the SE corner of VA so we go up through Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and all the way up 13 on the Eastern Shore. Lovely drive. DC would actually be a huge drive out of the way. I doubt we will hit much traffic on the way up. Once we get to OC it'll likely be a different story. Hope its not that bad going north though.

For driving down to the cruise we'll leave a couple days early from here. Last time we did 95 all the way. Thinking about making it 17 this time. 17 is blocks away from our house. And then picking up 95 in SC or early Georgia. We'll get a room at the CI&S for Friday night and ship bound Saturday.

I don't care if it's Christmas Day, any amount of airport crap is better than being stuck in a car with my kids for any length of time! :lmao: They just don't travel for long in cars well. Even as infants, they didn't sleep, just screamed if we drove any longer than say 15 minutes. I remember DD8's first trip to see my not-DMIL (:rotfl:) 4 hours away. She seriously screamed for 4 solid hours! SO not fun! And now that it's just me, it just makes it harder because there's no parent to entertain, referee, etc.

Last time we went to WDW, DD8 asked me how come we ALWAYS have to fly to Disney World? How come we can"t drive, just for once!

I have not heard they wanted to tear down the Skatium. I was there when Dave Schultz was the manager (yes, the old Broad Street bully himself) of the rink. I met many of the old Flyers there. Joe Watson was the nicest of them.

Ah Omar. I remember seeing that wall of water heading right for us as the ship was leaving the dock. It was a good thing to get of there early. DCL always seems to know when to leave.

We did not do any DCL excursions but went out on our own. We did Great Bay Beach on St Marteen and Paradise Point in St Thomas.

Great Bay beach was nice beach but I have heard there are better beaches in St Marteen. We choose Great Bay beach due to it was very close to the ship, right next to the town of Phillipsburg for shopping and most important of all it that is not a clothing optional beach :scared1::scared1:. There are just some things that I do not want my kids to see.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll23/tiggerger5/IMG_0715.jpg

Paradise Point is a short walk from the ship to a tram up to the top of the hill. It is beautiful up there and you get some great pictures of the island and the Magic. We also caught a cab to Charlotte Amalie for shopping.

Yeah, there's a whole Facebook group somebody started to save it. Just checked it out and apparently it worked, well the group and sending a few hundred ppl to the Commisioners meeting in Dec. John LeClair even showed up to save it:thumbsup2 I saw him a few times. He'd stop in the WAWA next door for coffee after a session. I used to work there. So apparently they coughed up the money and its still standing. That's good. Some things should never die ya know.

And it is nice to see the Flyers heading for the Cup. Hope they pull it off. I'm not into hockey like i used to be so I don't know how tough Chicago will be.

It is NEVER too early to be thinking of excursions. Or Port Adventures as DCL is calling them now:confused3

We did not do any planned excursions on St. Martin last time, just walked to Phillipsburg(Don't really reccomend that, but it can be done) and shopped for a bit and walked along the Great Bay Beach. My idea was to rent an ATV and get ourselves around the island. DH was uncomfortable with that idea though. I'd sworn off excursions just to get on the ship, cause we needed it at that point. Didn't really have a lot of extra money.

Next time though we will be doing excursions, possibly 1 of the private tour companies instead of DCL. I know there are 1 or 2 who get good reviews.

As for CC I'm hoping that we may be able to do the wave runner excursion. An Eco-ride i think:confused: That depends on my cochlear implant processor so we'll see.

Hi all! We booked this cruise in October 2009 when we were onboard the Wonder. We are also taking an October 2010 Western cruise. I'm not sure if we can keep this booking or not, but I am hoping we will because we would celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary onboard. I might even consider doing a vow renewal if I could raise the funds!

We are Jane, DH Mike, DD Allison (10 at cruise), DS Michael (5 at cruise). I am hoping to talk my Mom into joining us. Certainly if we decide to renew our vows, I would want her there.

Looking forward to talking to all of you over the next year or so!

Another fun week ahead for all of us i hope. For me it is a shorter work week for some unknown reason so i am off today and thurs and this weekend is my scheduled weekend off. Yippee:banana: Just hope the temps don't soar to 100 again.

Dh and I finished planning out our expenses straight through to the cruise. All the stuff that needs doing around the house and expected medical expenses. Seems like a lot on our plate but if we get most of it done I'll be happy.

What really makes me happy is that its time to start paying our cruise down:banana::cool1: Since we booked it we have just been socking money away until it got closer. And with the way we've planned it out we should do a nice job of getting it paid without adding much to the credit cards. So we are happy campers.

Just over a year until the paid in full date. Hope its a good 1.

I asked before but I think its important to decide now no matter how many cruisers we get. Just how much info do we want in the opening post?

Basic info: DIS names only

Semi Basic info: DIS names and cruisers

Specific info: DIS names and all party info

For myself I think it would be easier to have a basic roll call in Post 1, and then i can keep a more detailed list to email or post on a private FB group or website.

Majority rules here. Let me know ASAP and I'll change the post accordingly:thumbsup2

Maureen,

I've stayed at the Radisson at the Port twice before cruises and have been very happy. The rooms are nice, the pool is beautiful and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, which is important for us as we never have a car there!

They have a free shuttle to the port which has been very easy and I've seen mention that you can park your car there during the cruise at no charge.

I haven't started planning yet, but we'll probably be there the night before this cruise!

JKSWonder

We haven't discussed where we are staying before the cruise yet. For the cruise this year, I had gotten a pin code for 40% of Deluxes, so we are spending the two nights prior at Animal Kingdom. Depending on the funds next year, we may do the same. However, if the funds aren't there, I would probably stay close to the port.

I was looking into the prices for renewing our vows on the ship (our anniversary is 10/12) It looks like if you took the most basic package they offered, and got married on the ship and not on Castaway Cay, it would cost about $2,500.00.

So, unless money falls from the sky, I don't think we will be renewing our vows next year!

I am thinking of adding my mother to our reservation and upgrading us to a Cat 4. We are currently in Cat 6. It doesn't look like it would cost too much more to do that. She went on a 4 night Wonder with us last year and she loved it.

OH goodness, I don't know what the temp is here now:sad2:

Onslow insisted on going for a walk with DH. I fell asleep on the couch after my workout. woke up just a minute or so b4 they got back. 30 minutes of walking a stubborn doggie:lmao: My Dh is a good doggie daddy:rotfl:

I like your plan of cooking out at the Y. We don't belong so we're huddling inside our air conditioned house. Cooking leftover meatloaf in the slow cooker tonight. So we won't make the house hot and we still get to eat.

Well if you can call working at Target staying indoors then I was there all day. Got in the car a bit before 4pm to see the temp display in our rearview mirror hit 101. We really need a heatwave smilie on this board.

Onslow stayed inside until around about 7 when he snuck out the front door which mommy didn't close well enough:rolleyes: He had daddy watching him the whole time though. Then we took a walk after supper. Tonight's supper was Freschetta pizza. I tell ya though, this heat really takes it out of a person:sad2: Brought home a pack of gatorade to help get through it. Its just been ridiculous. We went from winter to summer here and no let up in sight.

I hear you on the heat! It's been high 90's here and we're not used to that so early in the summer.

In my job, my weekend is Tuesday and Wednesday. I usually spend about half those days at the barn with my horse. Yesterday I stayed in the house all day and today I'm taking the DDs to a friend's pool for the day. It's just too hot to think about being that active in it. And the poor horses are all sweating without even moving. It's not nice to make them work in this heat either. We might stop at the barn on the way back just to hose off the poor boy and put some sunscreen on his nose!

I'm all for warm temps, but give me 75-80 any day. High 90s make me melt!

Another hot, hot, hot one here today. it 98 now and was 85 at 8am:scared1:. Whoever got mother nature mad at us, please refrain and make up with her. We are either under 2 feet of snow or melting in 100 degrees. Hope this breaks soon.

You are not kidding. It is obscene down here with the heat. Just obscene. It was 98 here at 11:40AM!! Onslow insisted on going out right b4 my workout so i took him out. Did he have to pee? NOPE. I told him we were not going for a walk, and 2 trees later at the next door neighbors he agreed, but thought he'd sit his stubborn but in the shade. OH HELL NO!! I picked his but up and we went back inside.

I feel so bad for y'all up there. Our air alert is ORANGEI see yours is RED:eek: I really hope your horse is doing ok in this. I can't imagine what it must be like for him.

On the bright side headed for quick trip to Rehoboth tomorrow. Have to come home Sat. cause some moron scheduled me for my Sun. off, but i really didn't want to cancel the trip. I feel the need to go so we're going.

I hope Onslow is small Maureen! My ex's aunt had a 125 pound Rottweiler who used to do the same thing. When she was done, that was it, she would lay down and there was nothing they could do to get her up. It was pretty hysterical!

Dandy (my horse) was fine today although quite sweaty. They keep the horses in the barn during the day when it's so hot because there's no shade in the pasture. They'll let them out overnight tonight to get some exercise. The girls and I hosed him down and then took him out into a shaded area to graze. He was very happy with that!

When we got home, the girls decided they wanted to have a car wash to earn some money. They made a big sign and I let them practice on my car. They earned $14 total. $10 from their Dad and $2 each from two neighbors who didn't need a car wash but wanted to donate. I felt a little weird about those, but they insisted.

I told them they could put the money away for our cruise. To which they replied, "No, Dad says he can't afford to take us out so we want to take him out for Chinese!"

Fortunately he's a Lhasa Apso mix. So he's about 23lbs right now. Easy for mommy to pick up when she needs to:lmao: I'm glad the horses are good. That is funny about the girls' car wash and taking their dad out. I thought that was great.

OOOOH He's so cute!

We had to put our chocolate lab down last week. :sad1:
I had him for almost 13 years, so it was really hard, but not unexpected. The girls are asking for another dog and I keep saying no. But every time I see a cute one, I think about it. I'm sure we will be getting one before summer is done. It's just too quiet in the house when the girls are at their dad's. That's when I really miss my Hobbes because there's no one to snuggle with on the couch!

Sorry I haven't been on that much. We are taking the October 30, 2010 Western Cruise and I am neck deep in planning that. I get to book our excursions, Palo and spa ressies at midnight August 1st!

I was getting concerned about St. Thomas after those recent reports of violence there. I am wondering if DCL is going to change the route at all on Eastern as a result....

Still deciding how to spend our 15th wedding anniversary on board. The vow renewal is definitely out due to the cost, so I am thinking just a nice dinner at Palo, etc.

We are on the Oct 16, 2010 Western. We'll let you know all the drydock changes you'll see two weeks later. Which excusions did you pick? We are doing the 7 mile beach break for Grand Cayman, the trolley for Key West and just walk around Cozumel. We are going to hit all three Margaritaville's on all the islands. Good luck with your ressies tonight.

We booked the Dolphin Encounter and Turtle Farm for Grand Cayman. For Cozumel, a large number of Dis families decided to book Nachi Cocom, the private beach club, so we are doing that. Since they only take about 100 people, it looks like our cruise meet thread has booked the place completely! For Key West, we are going to do the Olde Town Trolley because I want the ability to get on and off as the mood strikes us.

I booked two spa ressies (one exotic rasul for DH & I and one facial for me). I booked dinner for Palo, but sadly, could not get a brunch or high tea reservation...they were all snapped up. I'll keep repeatedly checking (especially at the 75 day mark), but I think our chances are slim. I guess I will pay a visit to Rockin D' Bar on the first day to see if they have any availability.

We are going to do the Trolley as well. We walked last time to the southernmost point. Much farther than we thought. Not going to do that again. Glad to hear you were able to get some dinner ressies. You sould keep checking back to the site every day for brunch ressie. There are many reports on our cruise of brunch ressies opening up and then disappearing. Good luck. We have been able to get ressies easily at Rockin Bar D but it may not be the best times. This is one good thing about being Gold this time. We were able to get we wanted with no problems.

This is the thread to find out about that. We haven't actually started planning it yet. But I know I want 1. Did 1 on the last cruise and it was such a great way to add to the fun.
2. I think it is great that we can meet people on here and get to meet them on the ship. Do you guys have a meet planned?
No meets planned yet. The good news is we have a year to go so plenty of time to put them together. I will admit that on the last cruise we went to the meet at the restaurant the night before the cruise and just completely forgot about the ones on the ship:rotfl:
3. We are actually thinking about doing an Alaskan cruise in 2013 summer so can you book that onboard that far out? It would be about 20 months?
You should definitely be able to book that onboard. We are going in Oct. 2011 and the rates for 2012 should be out very soon. As long as they stick with Sept. release dates I think you'll be fine booking for 13. Can't guarantee the Alaska itinerary though.
4. I think you guys are probably as planning fanatical and excited as I am.:rotfl2:
Definitely as excited for this cruise as I was the last time. I hope to be a little LESS wiped out on this cruise as opposed to the last 1. Last time we sat down on the ship and that was it. Boy did we need a vacation. And that's exactly what the cruise is VACATION:banana: I also plan to have a bit more money available for this 1, so this time I am booking excursions at the ports. Need to decide whether to stick with DCL or go with an island agent. So if any of our experienced cruisers have thoughts on that I'd love to hear them.

I think this thread will pick up as soon as some of this year's cruisers finished their trips and then its on to the next.

As far as organizing different ideas for meets go. I'm open to anything as long as I'm not organizing everything:rotfl2:

I completely forgot that about the seating:rotfl:

We had late seating on our first cruise and though we loved it, it made doing things like eating at the desert buffet and the Pirate night buffet undoable. Took pictures certainly, but didn't eat anything there, because we literally finished our meal maybe 10 minutes before. Although there was a huge line just to wait for the doors to open at the dessert buffet which didn't start till midnight, but still I was full. So even though main seating is a bit earlier than our usual meal time I think it will better.

On our last cruise quite a few of us from the thread decided to share tables at our seatings and it worked out quite nicely.

But I think once the fall vacationers come back( and we'll be going on vacation ourselves the first week of Oct.) then things will pick up here. :dance3:

We stayed in 6546 two years ago and we had no issues. Please see below for a link to the room reviews. The first one that is negative makes no sense to me. It says the room is AFT when it is Mid/Forward. It mentions engine noise and being that forward there is no way you are going to hear loud engine noises. We noticed no such noises two years a few doors down. I think the reviewer put down the wrong stateroom number. We are cruising a 7 day Western in three weeks and can check it out if you want.

We are in cabin 6050 for now.

DH and I are not entirely 100% sure we are keeping this cruise, although I hope that we are. We sail on the DCL Western on October 30th and depending upon whether any new, fabulous sailings have been released by then (Fantasy, anyone?) we just may shift our date to take advantage.

That being said, I still hope we keep this cruise! I think it would be great to cruise for our 15th wedding anniversary!

Welcome aboard Heidi. So thrilled to have you join us. And i am sooo glad someone is counting down the days till we set sail. :lmao: I'd ask someone to countdown the hours but that might get too depressing. My math is terrible so I'll just leave the counting to everybody else:rotfl:

Pop on in and enjoy. We have a few cruisers who will be cruising very shortly after the drydock is finished. So we will have fresh reports on everything new for the Magic. I can't wait to be on her again.:thumbsup2

Greetings everyone! My wife, Melissa, & I just got off of the Wonder on 10/14. We rebooked onboard for 10/08/2011....well, we'd already booke it before the Wonder, but reshopped it in order to take advantage of discounts & onboard credit!

We are in stateroom 5024 - one of the SPH rooms! Now we are holding our breath and praying that things work out. We are both teachers and our school schedules don't come out until the spring. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the school calendar will stay the same as 2010! If so, this will be our fall break cruise.

This will be our 4th Disney cruise! In the past, we've done:
1- 3 night Wonder Honeymoon cruise May 2008
2- 7 night Western Oct 2009
3- 4 night Wonder Oct 2010

we are DVC members & I am a former WDW Cast Member. Tons of WDW & DCL experience we can share if you have any questions!

We are looking forward to a DIS meet and FE exchange. We had a great time at both on the 10/10/10 cruise. We all met at the Promenade Lounge at 3PM on the first day prior to the safety drill. That worked well.

Lookingforward to getting to know you all!!!

Cheers,
Josh

I just wanted to say Hi.. I'm looking at joining this cruise but haven't put any money down yet. My family and I came back from my first Disney cruise to the Bahamas Oct3. It was a surprise birthday present for my husband's birthday... I told him 2 days before we left. I was looking at a "big" trip out east for next year when DH says "why don't we scrap that and go on another cruise":cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: He must have really liked it :thumbsup2 So I'm not saying no if he's willing. I don't know if I can pull this off but I'm going to try.

After talking about it for awhile, DH and I decided to move this cruise to the August 25, 2012 on the Fantasy.

We wanted to take advantage of the new ship and also wanted to avoid having to pull both of our kids out of school if at all possible.

I'm sorry we won't be joining you all and I hope you all have a wonderful cruise!

Sorry to see you leave but have a great time on your cruise. The Magic is in great shape for you in a little over a week. We are great time and have had great weather on this Western this week. Please note the crew is double staffed currently as there are lot of trainees as in 3 weeks a bunch of CMs are heading off to the Dream. We booked the Fanasty for 6/23/10 while on board as well as this cruise. We will miss the Magic.

FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN UP:
Since no one else has volunteered, and I need something of a fun project in my life right now, I am going to host the FE exchange for our cruise:cool1:

Send an Email to moluvsdisneymagic@cox.net
Please list the following:

1. Your DISboard name.
2. Stateroom Number
3. Names, ages and gender of everyone in your stateroom that will be participating in the FE Exchange.

Once I receive your email, I will send out a list of participants. PLEASE check the list to make sure I have your information correct. Some people make personalized things with names on them and I'd hate to spell someone's name wrong and not know it. Or I'd really feel awful if I have your stateroom number wrong and you don't get any FE gifts at all! So, please double check my list when I send it. THANKS!!

This will be my first time running it. So questions such as price minimums and maximums and how many gifts per room can be decided as we go. Personally, I feel that anything goes for this. For our last cruise we made some home made gifts and may do that again. We got some great gifts from everybody no matter if it was store bought or not.

Its just such a great way to share the joy of cruising with everybody:lovestruc

Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!

What is a fish extender exchange?

MintJulep

I am really looking forward to cruising in the Eastern. I was a little disappointed with the ports of call on the Western. Key West was alright, but not as "picturesque" as I thought it was going to be. I was expecting more historical areas and less Myrtle Beach type T-Shirt stores.

The day we visited Grand Cayman, the weather wasn't too great, so that might have been the beach wasn't that nice.

But, I loved Cozumel! I could not believe that water could naturally be that blue!

And of course, Castaway Cay was paradise!

But, the main reason why we booked again is because we absolutely loved the ship, the entertainment and the cast members were amazing!!! Our servers Gede and Giorgio and our state room host Philip were the best!!

I can't wait to see what the Eastern has in store!!

Keira, I remember seeing you on the Western boards so it is nice to see you again!

Good morning Cruisers

Today is my day off from work so I'm checking in to say hi. I know we've all done short intros, but I think its time tell y'all more about us.

So here goes:

I am Maureen(37) and cruising with me will be my DH Richard(51).

For now I work at Target. Going to start job searching soon and with luck I will find something new and non-retail by Christmas. I have worked there for 6.5 years now and its time to go. Also trying to get an Avon business going. Its fun, but not easy.

Richard works as a civilian contractor for the Navy, basically putting together all the tech manuals for the fleet on the East Coast and every now and again a ship or 2 in San Diego as sometimes he is the only 1 who has what they need. He has been doing this for 20+ years now ever since he transitioned out of the Navy in 80s.

We've been married for 7yrs and will be celebrating a late 8th anniversary celebration on the Magic as we sail. We married on Oct.3rd and we sail on the 8th so its not too long to wait at all.

This will be our second Eastern on the Magic, and hopefully the first time finishing the scheduled itinerary. We first sailed in Oct. 2008 and got interrupted by Hurricane Omar. So instead of St. Thomas we wound up at Nassau, Bahamas. The only advantage to this was gaining an extra half sea day.

Even though all we did was lounge around or explore the ship on our own, the sea days were our favorite part of the vacation. I think that's why we have yet to book the Western. The thought of losing a day at sea is a bit of a drawback for us as we're the type of people who feel if we haven't been to the port we should at least explore a little bit.

I think that's good to start with.

As I mentioned earlier I am keeping a list with all cruiser info so if anyone wants to pm me or email me at moluvsdisneymagic@cox.net with your cruising info I'll put it altogether and send everybody the list at the beginning of each month until we sail. Same goes for any FE sign-ups

Jasmine: I think I got myself mixed up. We got the letter you describe awhile ago, though nowhere near our actual deposit date. And then a few weeks ago we got another little envelope with the DVD and a little booklet of the 2010 and 2011 itineraries. The DVD is supposed to be interactive, but we have yet to actually play it :lmao: Sad to say i love the Travel Channel's show better than DCL's on production:rotfl2:

Mintjulep: I think you are really going to love the Eastern. St. Marten is just beautiful. We loved walking down the beach path and the shopping in Phillipsburg was nice too. We picked a very nice table cloth for Christmas the last time we were there. I have absolutely no idea what we might get next time we go.
And the blue water is everywhere down there. I had never seen it so blue either and its just amazing. And WARM even. I am used to swimming in the Mid-Atlantic which is of course is not blue and freezing cold in August:rotfl:

Alright, gotta go get supper in the slow cooker.

Have a great day everybody:thumbsup2

OctoberBride03: I think it is a great idea to tell everyone a little more about ourselves! :thumbsup2

So, here is a little about me:

I am 27 (soon to be 28 in December) and my DH is 28.

I work as a freelance writer for our local newspaper. It is a pretty sweet gig because I get to work from home and I don't have any set hours.

My DH works as a lab director at our local dairy. He gets to test all of the milk products and make sure they are safe and up to code.

We were married on Oct. 6 2007, so like OctoberBride03, we will be celebrating our late anniversary. :lovestruc

The Western cruise that we just took on Oct. 16 was our first cruise, and I have to say that it exceeded our expectations! I was a little unsure about being stuck on a boat, but I found out the sea days were my favorite days!

When we found out the Eastern offers an extra day at sea, and since we wanted to try a different cruise, we booked for the Eastern.

The only thing I was disappointed with on the past cruise was that they didn't offer a galley tour. I know they had done this in the past. Did they stop doing the tours? :confused3 Both my DH and I were really looking forward to it.

That pretty much sums me up!

Welcome to the board MrsZ! :wave2:

I was in your shoes when we went on our last cruise and Disney had exceeded my expectations!!!

I have never participated in a fish extender before, but I am thinking of do it this time around.

Did you book with a travel agent or did you do it online? If you booked through a travel agent, they will be able to tell. I am not sure if you will know, yet, if you booked online.

A few weeks before we sail, you will get your cruise documents and that will have all of your info on it, including your room number.

I am pretty sure that you can let OctoberBride03 know that you want to do the FE and then at a later date let her know your room number.

If you have any question, don't be afraid to ask. We are a pretty friendly bunch!!!!

Welcome aboard!!! :sail:

I'll have to hit your PTR.

As to your stateroom number, if you booked a guaranty package you will have to wait until late summer/possibly September to be assigned a number. If you didn't you can go to the DCL site and look it up there, it should bring up your confirmation after you register.

And don't worry if you are guarantee, you can always send me the room number later and sign on for the exchange now:thumbsup2

Another note on the FE exchange. You DON'T have to know what you're giving out before you sign up. And if something happens where you need to withdraw that's alright too. We have plenty of time to get everything worked out:wizard:

We like both Easterns and Westerns. We find our true vacation is the ship and CMs. The Westerns are more port intensive than the Easterns. You start off with 2 sea days on the Eastern which will give you time to explore the ship. The Eastern will visit St Marteen which has a nice beach in Phillipsburg on the Dutch side where the Magic docks. There are nicer beaches (ie Orient beach) on the French side but they are clothing optional. We have young children and some things are not meant to be seen.:scared1: by them. St Thomas is a shopping stop or you can take a boat over to St Johns which we hear in beautiful. You can also try the tram up the hill for some great views of the Magic and harbor.

Awesome photos! Thanks for sharing!

I don't know if I could handle the clothing optional beaches. I think I would be giggling like a little kid the whole time.:rotfl:

The nudist are not models but old hairy saggy men. VERY VERY Scary :scared1::scared1:. :rotfl2::rotfl2: We stayed over at great bay and went shopping over in Phillipsburgh which is right behind the beach. If you are feeling adventurous try taking a cab over to the beach by the airport and watch the airplanes land. They literally land on you. See the link to youtube videos.

I agree, Awesome photos! really got me excited!

I would be the same way at the clothing optional beach... although I have to say I am a tad curious... although curiosity killed the cat so I probably wont be making a trip over there.

:welcome: to all the members. I have been busy at work and have not been able to post for awhile. I am so glad it is filling up. I am superexcited since this is our first cruise. It is me and DH only on this trip. I work for the State of CO and my hubby is retired. That of course doesn't mean much when he is hard at work at home keeping things fixed or plowed at this time of year.:rotfl2: Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I forgot to add a couple things on info. We have the early dinner seating and we are in 6635 as of now. Lots of us on 6 it looks like. I am really looking forward to spending lots of time relaxing by the adult pool, reading and actually playing Bingo! :rotfl2: It has been lots of years since I did that. Of course I can't wait to see Castaway Cay and spending time at those beautiful port beaches. It wil be around pretty cold here in Colorado by then I am sure. For those of you looking for FE stuff. There were lots of great pirate stuff at our Dollar Tree here. I did get a pirate costume at Walmart pretty cheap after Halloween too. I am usually the crazy one of the two of us.

We are also on deck 6 down the hall in 6616. We love deck 6. We have been on deck 6 for 5 of 6 cruises. It is in the middle of everything. The Eastern has plenty of beaches for you. There several on St Marteen, just remember clothing optional on some beaches, and St Thomas is close to St Johns which we hear is beautiful. We might take an excusion over there this trip. Castaway Cay is beautiful whether you pick the family beach or SB. Since we are cruising in October the beaches will not be overcrowded. We are wondering how the Dream class ships with 4,000 guests will all fit on Castaway Cay. I guess we'll find out next year and DISser report back.

I think we should call Deck 6 "The Official DIS Deck" for the cruise. So many of us are staying on it :rotfl2:

I think my last cruise there was 1 or 2 other DISsers on it, We seem to be up to at least 4:disrocks:
