Everyone is finishing up their FE's. I guess I should do some work on them tomorrow. But I do have a birthday cake to bake and decorate.
Finishing up:confused::rotfl2:
I haven't even started!!
I'm hoping to get lucky and work on them during the race this week. That's AFTER work on Sunday. DH, however is well on his way through his set.

Don't ya just love the age of digital photography:lovestruc
I have no idea of how many pics we even took on our last cruise. I think it was somewhere around 500. it would have been more than that if we hadn't had multiple camera problems on the ship. Not gonna let that happen this time:thumbsup2

I don't think I have ever taken only 500.:lmao: I average around 1000 or so on every trip we have ever made. Of course WDW is special.:rotfl: This will be our first cruise so I am sure it will be more like 1500. I put all of them on CD though so I can load them on the computer at home or send to family. I NEVER take my computer on vacation. I don't want to even look at it and we are way too busy anyway doing all the fun stuff.:yay:

I believe the majority of cruisers voted for a Pool side meet circa 3:00
Is this still how we want to go? If so i will post the details in POST 1
Also a friendly reminder for t-shirts. Order deadline is 8/18!! That is a firm deadline. I am sending the artwork to the printer ahead of time to get the final quote for pricing. When I have it, it will also be posted up front.

Oh trust me, if we hadn't had camera card issues on our last trip it would have been 1,000 easy. Definitely more than the 1 or so we took on CC to save the camera for the See you again party on the ship.
Me thinks i need to try out 1 of those rewritable CDs this time.

We're doing Bernard's Tour too:thumbsup2 Very excited about it. :yay:
No clue for St. Thomas/St. John as this will be our first time there(re-routed last cruise). So for those of you who have been there what do you recommend doing for first timers? We are having a hard time because we know we can't do both St. Thomas AND St. John in the time allotted:confused3

On our last eastern we did a snorkeling and beach excursion to St. John that we really enjoyed. St. John is so beautiful we intend to go back this time. We would like to do DCL's Trunk Bay excursion, but our grandson is only 4 and the excursion is for 5 and over. Our plan at this point is to arrange our own transportation (cab and ferry) to St. John and get to Trunk Bay on our own.
You are right about not being able to see both islands. With the time it takes to ferry to St. John and the relatively early departure time, you wouldn't see much of St. Thomas.

I have a request of my fellow DISers. If anyone is interested then that would be great. I work with a lady who's granddaughter has Leukemia. She was in remission for 4 months but now it is back and she is in the hospital again. Her mom would love for her to get as many get well cards as she can since the whole family is devastated. This has been really hard on them the last year. I thought cards from all over the place would be wonderful. If anyone would like the address to send them to then just PM me and I will give it to you. I appreciate your help.:worship::love:

We are doing the same exact thing. I just read the tour on the Doubloon Ship and Snorkeling in St. John's and seems like a good tour. Although we want to do both St. Thomas and St. John's, and like Maureen it can't do it all in the hours we have....I guess it's an excuse to book another cruise!

8 WEEKS EVERYONE!!!
oK...So I don't have the dancing 8, I'm sure we'll see him soon this morning! But this disneychik is up at 5:30 seeing dd off to work and went to mark off another day on our calendar! That means 7 weeks to get through with FE's, for me, 6 weeks and I have to 'mail' them. 7 weeks to start gathering (unless you've already) all those 'non'-essential- essentials'...:rotfl:, You know...shoe keeper, nite light, sea bands/dramamine/ginger, waterbottles, camera stuff, tons of other stuff, and $$$$$$$ for along the way! Doesn't it just make you :dance3::dance3::dance3: today?..
The trick is how to pack as lightly as possible and still have everything you need. Storage space in the cabins is always a challenge with lots of luggage. We put our luggage under the bed after we unpack and we cram the closet and the trunk full of stuff :rotfl: I have to take a look at my pack list and see what items I can pull out. Last trip I totally overpacked!
Question for all you veterans (2 cruises under my belt, a veteran I am not). How fancy does formal night get? Are we talking nice dress as in one you can wear to an afternoon wedding, well accessorized or fancy gown here. I'm hoping its a nice dress and not a ball gown. I honestly probably can't fit in my fancy gowns. Somehow the older I get, the harder those lbs fight to stay on

As to your question, we wound up doing Palo on our formal night last time, but from what we could see around the ship, with everybody posing for pics and all, it really is a mix of nice formal gowns/tuxes and good suits and nice dresses. I actually wore the outfit for Formal night twice cause nobody at our dinner table saw it the first night:thumbsup2

I have 2 fancy gowns, but they'd have to be taken in by ALOT:scared1: and I really don't see me wearing them again anywhere else, plus even though we are driving there is that packing factor to think about, both take up a lot of room.
So I'll be going the not quite formal route this cruise. But I STILL have to find something to wear that night. I'd like my picture in a different outfit this time. :lmao:

Hi gang! I'm checking in!
Today I have my first gown fitting! Yeah! It's getting closer!
Tomorrow is my bridal shower. Kind of nervous about that because I have one family member that has been vocal about not being invited on the cruise. She absolutely embarrassed me at a shower for her daughter. She mistakenly assumed that I was paying for my in laws cruise and not paying for my parents and she called me out right in front of the whole table. I was mortified.
I had to set her straight that I didnt want anyone to be put out the expense and I paid for everyone to go, in laws, my parents an the bridal party. She thinks that because she saw my mother hand me a check, that it was my mothers money. Not that it was any of her business, but I had to put her in her place at the table and tell her that the money came from an account of money that my uncle left for me when he died. She is the executor of that account.
Not to mention that she burns me up because she refers to my Finacee as the hillbilly. She's such a snob. I'd rather marry that "hillbilly" that loves me and treats me like a princess then be around the old hag that reminds me of Cinderella's stepmother. His whole family is warm and friendly, like a whole bunch of Paula Deans! Y'awl!
I didnt invite most of my family on purpose. If I invited one, they all would have come. I have a very large Italian family, so a regular wedding would have easily been 300 people. We didnt even invite all of John's siblings. He's one of nine. I dont have much time left with my father and I wanted to make sure we made it a nice cozy event that we could all enjoy instead of being a Bridezilla (which happened anyway) :confused3
It is kind of nice to be an only child and all of the sudden inherit 10 sets of in laws and over 30 nieces and nephews all at once.
OK, so that is what is on my plate this weekend. I'm getting so excited for this cruise!
Oh, and a special thanks to Maria for being my sounding board. Poor thing...I've never met her before and I go an dump all my stuff on her. As my mother-in-law would say "She's such a darlin'". Thanks Maria!

I like it! And I can't agree with you more on not worrying about what others are wearing. No judgement from me. Everyone is on vacation and it's about having a good time. Now...if I can get DS to put on a nice button down shirt and a jacket, I'll be happy. It would be nice to have a nice family picture where he is wearing something other than nice polo shirt and shorts

Awesome! Very exciting preparing for your wedding. Have fun at the bridal shower! It's you wedding and your day, do what makes you happy. I remember our wedding there was a little drama because I made choices that was going to make me happy and XX years later (i'm not going to age myself :lmao:) I don't regret the choices. On a Disney cruise 'formal' night is anything from less than you described to full out formals. I do the 'what I can wear to a wedding with glittery accessories' route. On other cruiseline I frequent (Princess) I go a bit fancier, but not Disney. Disney is more about having fun than 'putting on airs'. Plus the crowd is younger:) As for wearing something twice, YESSS! On the other I've been known to wear the same skirt with two completely different types of tops and accessories & nobody knows. Can even get away with 2 formal nights plus one fancy restaurant with these clothes.

I dont have much time left with my father and I wanted to make sure we made it a nice cozy event that we could all enjoy instead of being a Bridezilla (which happened anyway) :confused3
:thumbsup2
Bless your heart BETH!! This is your day! Your fairy tale come true! Don't you dare let a 'Debbie Downer' ruin your day or month for that matter! Some folks in this life have nothing better to do than tear others down...and you just keep telling yourself and your family that "This is a great day, I'm gonna rejoice in everything in it!" And don't let ppl pull you down. It's like I tell my kids "If they really love you, they'll understand." If not, it's how you respond that matters. So YOU be happy...keep dancing and enjoy!!! And Just 'smile and wave' when that family member is around...you don't have to be 'grumpy gills' like her!:rotfl:
Love that your fitting is today!!! How WONDERFUL! And what fun for your first shower! This disneychik and mom hopes your weekend rocks with excitement!!!

Hi gang! I'm checking in!
Today I have my first gown fitting! Yeah! It's getting closer!
Congrats and here's wishing you nothing but the best. :grouphug: We'll be there toasting you on CC. :cool1::cool1: I would not worrying what others think. It is your wedding wedding and nobody elses. I look at it as it is their issue and not yours. If they have a problem they can go elsewhere and do not need to vent on you. Have a great time and the DISsers will be here for you.

:goodvibes And as for Formal night?...This family will not be in tuxes or ball gowns (but I'd love to be..;) )..and I understand, it's their vacay too! You'll see my guys in ties/button downs, and maybe they'll have their coats, but not sure on that one either. And most of us girls will be in little black dresses. Which I hope is ok, but it's probably the best I'm gonna do.:thumbsup2

Where was i today?
Did laundry, hit the tailors for a skirt and shorts that needed taking in before the cruise. Then it was off to the bank and meat market so we can eat for the next few weeks:lmao: Home for lunch and then took Onslow to Southern States hoping to catch their dog expert. We missed her, gotta try again on Tuesdaypopcorn:: Now its home for a little while before hitting church, and hopefully, by the time i leave for church i will have a new exercise video ordered, because I KNOW i need something.
No thunder and lightning here, but it is trying to rain, and I wouldn't be surprised if thunder and lightning joined it.
And yeah, i want that view right now too:yay:

This is interesting. :confused3 According to this site for St Thomas it says that the Freedom of the Seas and Carnival Valor are docking at Havensight but nothing is designated for the Norwegian Sun and the Disney Magic, not even anchored. The Magic crusie before and after us is designated to be docked at Havensight. Is there something going on in St Thomas. :confused3

Usually tendering is only mildly inconvenient, but at times it can be a real pain (poorly organized Carnival ship, very small tender boats, I think they only took 12-14 people at a time). It really depends on how efficient they are at moving people. Generally, they organize those who are booked on early excursions to be the first to tender in the morning. Of course if you book you own excursions, DCL doesn't know your plans and the timing of the tenders may not accommodate your schedule.
You can occasionally find yourself waiting for your turn to tender off the ship, or at the port waiting to get back to the ship. In all, it is just not as convenient as walking off and back on whenever you want.
The other issue is that the tender may not deliver you where you would have been if you were docked and yes you may have to arrange other transportation or walk a little further.

Somehow the older I get, the harder those lbs fight to stay on
We've done the gowns and tux route before but this cruise will be shirt and tie for Darrell and black dress for me.
Haven't worn JC Penney's in years.
I am a Coldwater Creek and Loft person. Hoping to find something there. IF I'm lucky I can something in the outlets in DE in 2 weeks. If not, I may resort to internet sales. We shall see.
Love Coldwater Creeks travel wear - I have a dark blue dress that will probably be my Palo dinner outfit. All my capris are from there too. I need to make a trip to the outlet in St Augustine soon.

Still I refuse to take it completely serious, I will wear a Star Trek tie most of the time, but since we will probably be in Lumiers on formal night I will wear one of the ties I got when working for Disney at the L.A. set up of the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast.

From the DCL website
Palo: (Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, Disney Magic) With its 270-degree ocean view from high atop the ship on Deck 10, Palo has the loveliest view of all restaurants on the ship. Palo is adults 18 and over only, and reservations are required. This restaurant features outstanding Northern Italian cuisine prepared to order.
The view from Palo is spectacular due to the restaurant’s location on the ship, but please keep in mind that the view is only “viewable” before sunset. Around the perimeter of Palo is a walkway, which at night is illuminated by bright lights. After sunset, the only things visible from Palo are those bright lights and a reflection of the interior of the restaurant. We would certainly not let this deter us from taking an available reservation at a later time, but we like to let guests know that an earlier reservation is often easier to get and offers the addition of the spectacular view and sunset. A new feature on the Dream is the option to dine outside on Palo's private teak deck.
Because your server does not follow you to this restaurant, a $15.00* cover charge per person is applied. In addition to dinner on both the Wonder and Magic, Palo brunch (Palo Brunch Photos ) is served at Palo on days at sea on the Magic and on the Wonder 4-night sailings. The same $15.00 fee is charged. On the Magic, there is a "High Tea" offered during the days at sea for a $5.00 fee. Reservations are required for all dining at Palo.
*Prices for Palo on the Dream will be $20 for dinner and brunch, and $10 for High Tea.
During dinner, gentlemen will be required to wear a dress shirt. Gentlemen wearing polo shirts, t-shirts, Tommy Bahama style shirts, etc will not be allowed admittance. Jackets and/or ties are recommended but not required. Notices will be in the Personal Navigator, on the Palo reservation card and a sign outside the elevators on deck 10 will contain this dress advisory. The Resort Casual dress code for both the brunch and high tea remains unchanged.

I think you are right about the increased cost of Palo. As for the dare I believe you to be incorrect. Please see post 2415

My bad Dan I stand corrected. I am usally working so sometimes I miss posts. From what I seen recently they did change the look those signs, so why can't they give the Wonder a new banner?

DCL can spend a few billion $$$ on new ships but not $20 on a new banner for the Wonder. :confused3:confused3 There are things in the world we will never be able to explain. :lmao::lmao:

Thanks for posting the info on Palo Dan. It's so true. The sunset view from Palo is the best. We have the best pictures of the sunset from deck 10 when we were dining in Palo. And thanks for the help. Now I know what I have to pack for clothes for formal night :goodvibes I'll be checking in later this evening. Now, I have to go brave the 100+ heat

Good luck with that heat. We are under flood warning here. It has rained hard here for the last 24 hours:scared1:. Only in the last hour has it stopped.
I agree with the sunsets at Palo. We get the 6pm ressie so we can get a window table. Here is a pic from my last cruise.

Yeah, i was hoping to use it to start on my FE gifts. The last part still has be dropped off, but the order is in. Took me way longer than I thought it would find what I wanted for them.
As for the race itself, doesn't bother me missing it. We flipped back and forth between the Nanny Marathon and ESPN waiting for a final decision. I always get lost with the road races anyhow.

I am curious, how many of us here are main dining and how many are late seating? Also, how many of you have requested a specific dining rotation?
We are late seating, which works out fine for our group since we are coming from the west and have a 2 hour time difference. We also have requested the PLA rotation which puts us in Lumieres on formal night and Parrot Cay on pirate night.

Well we are on main seating even though it is just DH and I because of his acid reflux and of course so we can enjoy the pirate buffet. :rotfl: We also requested the PLA rotation so I hope we get it because we chose it to be in those places on those nights also.

DH and I typically do the late so we can really take our time, and I enjoy the show before dinner. However, this time since I'm not traveling with DH, and traveling with my parents, we are doing the main dining. Even though we are also 2 hours west, they typically eat around 5, so the main dining will be better for them. And I didn't realize you could request a specific rotation. :confused3

We always do main dining. With the kids late dining is not even a consideration. For some reason we always start out in Animators:confused3For the last four cruises we have started in Animators and I would not bet against us again starting in Animators.

We are doing main dining this time. Did late dining on our first cruise, and it was nice, but we want to see how we enjoy the main seating. Plus i expect that I will actually be able to eat at the Pirate and Dessert buffets this time around:rotfl2:

I believe that is right if that is the one on deck 9 with the big screen. Can you also add on there that whoever wants to dress up and have their picture made with all of us that we will meet at the atrium. I don't know what time yet so figure we could decide that later.

We are main seating. My guess is we will end up in APL. The last 2 cruises we were APT because we have DS was 3 at the time. I'm guessing we'll have the same dining rotation as last time.

Looks like many of us are main dining this cruise. It seems like we always start in L/T, so thats my guess for where we will be. Since we are almot always in the secon dining, it will be interesting to see if I can enjoy the dessert and pirate buffets! And the main family pool by the Arielview screen is Goofy's pool. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Love it! My big kids had it to ourselves for over an hour on our double dip this summer. They had the timing down for one to go down the unenclosed side six or seven seconds before the one going down the enclosed (fast) side. Then had races, or course, everything is a competition in this family! They were all pretty close!

The four of us will be at the main dining, due to the DD's. We didn't know about requesting a specific rotation but will note that for later. DW and I are doing Palo Thursday night at 7:00 to celebrate out 12th anniversary. We did Palo 12yrs ago on our honeymoon! We really wanna do the Palo brunch, but don't wanna be involved in the stampede on deck 3 when we board, so we may skip it and do it next year.

Hi guys, checking in again
I had my Shower on Sunday and it was wonderful. About 60 ladies at my mothers. I got so much stuff, I dont know where I am going to put it all! But I got all my FoodNetwork faves (All my Rachel Ray cookware and servicing dishes) and a professional knife set from Giada DeLaurentis. I didnt need my by way of traditional brides gifts, so I asked for those things that I always wanted, but never had. I got a food processor, a formal tea set, punch bowl and cups and a large 45 cup coffee pot for my Papercrafting classes.
I'm getting more excited about the trip each day. Most of my to-do's are done with the exception of the Thank You's I'm working on now and finding shoes. I have one pair for the dress, but they hurt my feet. So I'm still searching for the perfect glitzy sandal.
The only other To Do is what Madalyn is working on...Door art!
I tried using our printer to print out the Disney Names for all the doors, but it is pixilated and my paper isn't nice. So I am going to try to move it to a Flash drive and go to Kinko's this weekend. I also have the Portal hole art with each of the Fab 5 for each of the 5 stateooms. We'll be Mickey, my parents will be Minnie, then will fill out with Donald, Goofy and Pluto for each of the other rooms.
I'm a little worried about funds. I'm hoping we are bringing enough and have captured everything in the budget. The tips are going to kill me. On top of the regular stateoom/waiter tips, we also have the wedding planner, musician and minister. Also need to count in the Excursion we're all taking in St Johns to the Dolphin Swim. If someone is looking to join us, I think most of that booking is all of our group going! Flipper...here we come darlin'!
Can you believe it guys! We're almost there! I'm already starting to pack. At least putting everything aside in outfits in the spare bedroom so I know what everyone is bringing.
Woohoo! 8 weeks!

Hi all. So the Interline discount rate is out for this cruise for anyone that maybe able to use it. We have decided not to. Now don't get me wrong it is a great deal and only $100 more than what we are paying for our sideways 11B to go to a 5B and pre paid tips, but the problem is that we need to spend more money and loose the $250 on board credit that we have as Gold members. The tips only work out to about $150 or so so we look at as spending $100 to losse $100. I will admit it would have been nice to have to verandah, but I really don't want to spend any more especially since we have to pay the Hawaii cruise by New Years Eve.

I've read about em, but don't qualify for them since I am a lowly target employee.

****** is taking another break. Poor guy.:sad2: Way too many requests. I did find a bundle that I liked but is there anyway that another DISigner would be able to personalize the names?
Were you looking at the last couple pages? He was still doing them then and did a couple for me last week?:confused3 Just ask anyway...

Yup. I saw your post and looked all the way through the thread. He was bombarded with requests and said he was way overwhelmed and stretched thin so I wasn't even going to ask. I did get a personalized request a couple of weeks ago from him but I didn't have time then to look at more. Now that I have, I could just kick myself.:sad2:
No problemo though. Its all good. I'm taken care of. ;)
I too would like to start the new thread. If I can figure out how to do it I will post the link here. Give me til the end of today and hopefully it will have been accomplished! :thumbsup2

We have 3 of them, but that one I like best because of the interior. I love the way the Overhead bins are blue. The other two are not like that as they are older -300,-500 series aircraft and that one is a -700 series.
