Last Night DD woke with a slight fever and I have been pumping her with vitamin c and lots of liquids (water and cranberry juice). She has been resting and watching Disney movies all day. She seems to be doing much better and thankfully should be good for our flight tomorrow.

I suggest lots of rest, liquids and vitamin c. Oh and Disney Movies :rotfl:

My doctor's office has posted a note saying that N-A-C (a supplement from health food stores) can boost the immune system and shorten flu symptoms. This advice is for adults. . . I don't know about children. I have had two doctors that I trust tell me the same thing. N-A-C in the recommended dose on the bottle.

I have used zinc in the past. I have no idea if that would be safe for a child. It seems to shorten my colds a little bit. I would look into it though. Maybe you could take some yourself to help fight it off?

Drink lots of OJ!

a huge portion of your immune system is in your intestines. Take probiotics (preferably on an empty stomach- 30 min before a meal) to boost your "good" bacteria. We have the chewable kind (stored in the frig), but you could also eat yogurt, or get those attune bars that are in the refrigerated section by the yogurt.

Make sure your kids are washing hands often and when they get home from school!!!

Here's what we take-

Probiotics (14 billion bacteria)
Oil of Oregano capsul
Multi-Vitamin (high quality all natural)
Vitamin D3 5000 IU
TONS AND TONS of liquids- water and hot tea
Zinc
Echinacea

Epsom Salt Baths in the evening
LOTS of sleep if you can- nap if possible
Saline Nasal Spray to keep nasal passages moist
LOTS of hand washing

Call me crazy- this is what I do. :goodvibes

i am not a huge fan when it comes to medicating my child but i would say if they are still not quite right a couple days before you go stop at the doctors and grab meds. You don't have to give it to them if they get better, but it will make your life so much easier when you are there if there is an issue and you already have meds on you.

orange juice for everybody.. we make sure to start drinking it a few days before flying...

wash hands... stop the germs before they spread..

good sleep.. when you are tired, your body is weaker, makes it harder to fight off germs...

Our trip is in December, so we have all taken the seasonal flu vaccine.

Our trip is in 2 weeks and I have been doing everything to keep my kids healthy. Last week my oldest was home all week with a low fever and cold symptoms. I am hoping that was it for her but you never know. My question is does anyone think it would be weird to make my kids wear surgical masks on the plane? I know they are around germs all day at school but on an airplane all those germs have nowhere to go!:scared1: I just wonder if I would seem like a freak to people on the plane. I know I shouldn't care what people think and I really don't, I just don't want anyone thinking my kids are sick that's why they are wearing masks. I don't know when I became so paranoid! :confused3
