Upsetting news... and OT to Disney

So my friend and coworker returned from a trip to Vegas -- it was her first time there and so of course first thing I ask is, "How was your get away?" as I notice her finger bandaged up and in a splint....

"I hate Vegas. D and I were attacked walking on an overpass on the strip."

It makes me so angry! It was night time and two guys attacked two women because they were lesbian, knocking D to the ground and hitting her while trying to get at J mean while spewing what I shall not repeat. J & D eventually fought off the guys and they both got free and ran off but now J has tendon damage and needs to do an MRI to confirm if the tendon is simply torn or if it ripped off the bone. D is a bit bruised up but no major injuries other than of course mentally being upset.

Anyways just needed to share my anger and get it off my chest as my husband had to leave for an emergency at work before I could finish the story.

That is horrible, and I hope that they both heal back to their normal selves both physically and emotionally as soon as possible

Sometimes it takes something like this to ground me and realize we are still the minority, and there are still hate filled people out there.

Yes and it's horrible.

Of course it isn't perfect where I live but there is definitely wider acceptance where large number don't even bat an eye or take notice. I guess I am in a 'safe bubble' here and so I get shocked to hear stories like the attack on my friends. Fortunately D&J got away and in hindsight with injuries far less than what could have occurred; but in saying that they just wanted to get away and to the safety of their room that they didn't call the police -- even if they did who knows what if anything would be done. :confused3

It just has had me wired up and angry all day. :mad:

My heart goes out to your friends...I can't imagine being the victim of a hate crime. I still dream of a day when all of this is a very distance past. :flower3:

:hug: I am very sorry for what your friends went through. I can only hope that they can come through this stronger on the other side.

There are just no words to really describe how upset and angry instances like your friends' make me feel. I truly do not understand the need by so many people to hate.
My thoughts are with your friends to recover both physically and emotionally (how do you recover emotionally from something like this?).
