So I am going to try to do a PJ. I hope everyone doesn't get bored!
History:
Matt and I met in 1997, when I was 16, he was getting ready to turn 17, and started dating immediately. I sort of knew we were going to be together for a very long time. Just a feeling... a warm fuzzy one!
In 2001, I decided to join the Coast Guard. It was a big step for me. The day I was to ship to basic, I found out I was pregnant. On April 25, 2002, Isabelle was born.
I was not going to get married because I was pregnant, I wanted our day to be perfect.
On October 16, 2004, we were married at the lake across from our house with Isabelle as our flower girl. It was beautiful, albeit a bit cold. I did everything myself, invites, decor, flowers, even the cake. I was afraid someone else would mess something up.
In the summer of 2005, we planned to add another to our family. On May 11, 2006, Levi Douglas was brought to this earth, but only for a short while. He was my blue- eyed bouncing boy.
Late September - early October 2007, we spent 10 glorious days in WDW with him. It was wonderous and inspiring to watch him light up (it was Isabelle's second trip and she loved showing her baby brother the magic). Five days after our return home, on the date October 7, we were t-boned be a 19 yo who ran a red light at 50 mph. Matt and I were unconscious and in and out of hospitals for days, Isabelle was physically OK(thank goodness), but she was 5 and can retell the whole incident. Levi was pronounced braindead. We weren't even allowed to know for nearly 2 days. The doctors and nurses, while we were being cared for, kept telling us he wasn't doing very well.
On October 16, 2007, Matt and I were released from our fourth hospital. We went straight to the funeral home to begin planning for Levi's funeral, then went to look at headstones. It was a sad way to spend our third anniversary.
Matt and I have talked several times about having a VR on a different day that we can use to celebrate on. We want to be able to remember Levi in his short time, but we also want to remember our anniversary as the beautiful time it is, not in the sorrowful way it is now.
So here I am, nearly two years after loosing my Angel, looking forward to something beautiful again...
I am glad you will be making some new memories for your anniversary. I can't even imagine what you have gone through. Looking forward to reading your PJ.

It is so good to see you on this board planning some happy memories.
I had read your story before when a group of us from the creative DISigns board contributed to a gift basket for Isabelle for her trip to WDW. I had the honour of providing a journal for her.
I am glad to hear you are all well and starting to move on in your lives. That in itself is the greatest tribute to Levi's memory
God bless

i'm so sorry for your loss! :grouphug: i can't even imagine what you've been through! Good for your for keeping it together and making new memories for your family. :grouphug: I look forward to following along with your VR!
I haven't had my VR yet, and have been a victim of lots of the "changes" that have occured and had things taken away after being promised them. :rolleyes1 As long as you are fully aware of what you CAN have, and what you CAN'T have, and are OK with that, then I think you will have a wonderful experience with DCL!

I have ENORMOUS news!!!!!
I am pregnant! Only a few weeks I'm sure, but still!
We haven't told Isabelle. I'm so afraid to break her heart. We have been trying for a while. I had a miscarriage a year ago at 8 weeks, then another in February at 16 weeks. The second was VERY difficult.

Each child will be recieving a gift bag. Most of the children have never been to anything Disney, I can't wait to see the light up the way Levi did.
Boys will get one of these bags:

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z138/RoseThorne7/Backpack_Minnies_pink.jpg
I found several inexpensive lanyards on amazon, something like these for each child:
http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z138/RoseThorne7/41eDxg1tr3L__SL500_AA280_.jpg
http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z138/RoseThorne7/41ZGH36K8OL__SL500_AA280_.jpg
On the lanyards, each child will get 2- 4 trading pens.
I will be making each child an autograph book and providing each a sharpie or pen.
Also, they will have glow sticks, temp tattos, and maybe a beach toy.
Yeah-a baby!
Love the ideas you posted today.

the bags for the kids are too cute!! They are going to be so excited!
About the flowers, you'll never know until you ask.....but i would say it's gonna be a "no". they wouldn't even do the bouquet they offer in SILK for me. you may get lucky with a bit of color change....but it looks like it's just the standard bouquet and nothing else.

The kids bags look great. You have some fun ideas.
I agree with Jennifer. I don't think DCL will change out the flowers. You may be able to find them in silks and then bring them onboard with you. Another DCL bride had hers made out of clay to get the ones she wanted.

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited about the bags.
On the flowers, I think I've decided to do something else. Does anyone know how many roses are in the standard rose bouquet? How easy are they to dismantle?
I think I'll give everyone a rose after ceremony to toss over with a special wish or thought for Levi.

I've been thinking the past few days about our VR being more meaningful to include Levi. With these thoughts came memories of our wonderful WDW family vacation in 2007. It really was magical. Because Levi went to WDW I think I might rather have our VR at WDW. Believe it or not, the cost is comparable when you take EVERYTHING into consideration. The cruise itself was going to be quite costly, as I want a Verandah. THen we planned on going to WDW after the cruise. We would rent DVC points to stay in WDW. It evens out. So I have been thinking of doing WDW instead.
Now, I've already sent out letters to let people know we are planning a DCL VR, but not hardly anyone knows I am pregnant, so I don't think changing will be a problem. (BTW, we plan to celebrate baby's first while in WDW too.)

If I opt for WDW (which I am leaning toward), I think I WILL want a more wedding like dress. Isabelle will probably wear a princess custom and new baby if it is a girl. If it is a boy, I guess he can be Charming. Here are some dresses I like. This first one is my fav. so far.

I love your ideas! The new dresses are beautiful and blue is my favorite color!
I don't know how you can decide between WDW and DCL. They both have many wonderful points. My son died during childbirth, so I never got to experience taking him anywhere. So I feel like he is mainly around me when I am outside. Birds, butterflies, and big open spaces (like the ocean) make me feel closest to him.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks Tanya. I am sorry for your loss. Believe me, I do understand.
I'd love to have pale blue in my dress, a sash, a lace, something...
I also think I want to add a bit of lime greem in my flowers. I've decided I will make Isabelle a flower wand, I want to make mickey head crystal clusters in lime green to tie in.

Does anyone have PICTURES of weddings at Canadian Pavilion? They are working on offering Escape ceremonies here. We had our first dinner at Le Cellier with Levi in 2007.
FROM MY 2007 TR!
After lugging our trunkload of luggage upstairs, it was back to Epcot for dinner! We were on our way to check in at Le Cellier, and behold! Kenai was waiting for us! Brother Bear is one of Isabelle's favs, so we posed for a pic!
http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z138/RoseThorne7/Disney2034.jpg
We were one hundred yards or so from the door when the skies opened with one of those lovely FL rainshowers! And there was a 2+ hr standby wait. Luckily, I had reservations!!!!!
which I shared with Levi. Here he is with it. Cute side note, Levi had just showed a notice in silverware at THIS meal, and utilized his utensials for the whole trip.

Of course, if I can't get Canada, I will probably with Seabreeze Point. We plan to rent DVC and stay at BC. We went there this year to eat at Beaches and Cream and Isabelle and Matt acted like they REALLY wanted to stay there. My first thought was BLT, for the monorail with the baby, but I think we will do BC instead. I'd LOVE to have a 1 bedroom, but I don't know if we can swing it with everything else. :(

Thank you Katie.
So Canadian Waterfall is our first choice (if we can swing it, I imagine it will be a premium location).

If not, then Sea Breeze Point

I talked to Matt a bit about location dillema. He likes WDW better I think. He said more people would probably come. I thought so too. So I think it is going to be WDW! As long as we don't surpass 16 guests we'll be fine...:scared: Do babies even count? I know Isabelle will. So maybe 17??
I think we were posting at about the same time on the DCL thread and found this report. We/I changed our mind from a DCL wedding to a WD wedding too This way we will have more guests too. Their are so many add ons for a WD wedding.... For the cruise we were booked for a balcony too but now hoping to swing the Boardwalk.
Love your dress ideas and flowers.

Hello, I am glad to see another possible Canada bride. I hope you get everything you want....you have definitely been through a lot, and you deserve something really special :goodvibes
You look amazing in your wedding photos as well!! Your family is so cute! I wish you the best of luck with your current pregnancy!
FYI - The Canada Terrace does cost quite a bit more than the normal Escape package, but it does include extra elements. (the exact price isn't out yet though..I don't think I get it until January). Also, children 2 and under do not count toward the 20 people limit.

I know I haven't posted in a while, but things keep changing so much...I don't think I could keep up on here!:lmao: Seriously, though, I have to consider everything. I think if this were our wedding, I would want the best, but its our VR, and it's special, but I don't want to go overboard. Matt wouldn't go for it. I know him too well!
As much as I want to have our VR at the Canadian Pav, for personal reasons, I am leaning a bit toward Swan. It would be half (or less) the price. It will still be wonderful. We won't have many attend, I just know that. So, I am looking at an Illuminations cruise as our "celebration" I'd love to have a DP, but with so few ppl, it isn't practical.
And one more change, Matt and I sat down and talked about our dates a few days ago. He doesn't like that time of year, it will be hot and fairly crowded. I was trying to avoid taking Isabelle out of school. Oh well! I can't get everything. So now we are looking at the week following Thanksgiving. I've never been that time of year.
So I am thinking of arriving at WDW friday after Thanksgiving ( I know it will be crowded) and having our VR that Saturday. That way, some may be able to come due to the holiday. But I'm not sure.

It is good you two have thought things through and are doing what is right for you. I think that a wedding/VR at the Swan would be just as beautiful, and if you like the location, it makes sense to go with the least expensive one. There are still so many amazing things you can do that are part of disney. And, you can use some of the savings to have an AMAZING meal at Le Cellier!
I love the dresses, especially the first one! It is amazing! Going after Thanksgiving would be nice. Hopefully more people will be on holidays, plus, it will be perfect weather (well, in my opinion) and the decorations will be up!!!!
Look forward to hearing more!:goodvibes

So this morning I ordered my little sister a WDW DVD and customized maps. I gotta get people planning. We have a YEAR!!!! OMGoodness! I have been trying to decide how to break it to people we haven't told that we have moved our VR up. I think it is too soon to send official invites. I know only a handful of our family will come. God bless you on your recent pregnancy... i truly hope that it's progressing well...
i look forward to reading about your vow renewal... you have given me inspiration to consider renewing our vows for our 20th in 2012... since we were married on leap year (2/29) it would be extra special as we only get an anniversary every four years!

Congrats on your upcoming VR!! That is so exciting. My condolences to you and your family. My thoughts are prayers are with you. I lost a son in 1985. He was one at the time. My DH and I did our VR for our 25th in June 2008. We went to Cabo and took our 2 grown kids and thier gf/bf and my nephew who was our ring bearer at our original wedding walked me down the beach this time and carried our new rings.
Another way to symbolize your son or VR is by doing a sand ceremony. We did that for ours. You can search for sand ceremony on the internet and will come up with a lot of ideas.
I will follow this thread and see how things are progressing for you. Good luck with everything.

It's good that you talk about him. That helps heal. Till this day, he would have turned 25 this past June. The holidays are still hard, even now, but I look at my 2 other kids and they help me get through it. They never knew him because he was our first born. It will get easier as the days go by. I have some pictures to share!!! On our last day at Disney in 2007, we had a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's then drove to Clearwater Beach. I have been vacationing in the CB area for years. I took Matt for the first time in 99, we took Isabelle in 06, and went back in 07. We haven't been back since. Although, I desperately wanted to stay a day or two, I knew we shouldn't, so I Didn't say much about it. Wish I would have. Maybe Levi would still be here. If we had spent more $ on vacay, we wouldn't have had it to remodel our bathroom (we were buying tile the day of our accident).
Anyway, so we spent about 4 hrs there, playing at the beach and having dinner at one of our fav restraunts down there. It was a VERY windy day. Sand was blowing everywhere! No one seemed to mind, even though I knew it was getting in Levi's eyes!

Ready for more VR changes???
I posted those because Clearwater Beach is a very meaningful place to us. More so than the Swan. We have decided to spend a couple of nights there and have our VR on the beach where we spent the day a week, exactly, before our accident. Then we are going to head to WDW to celebrate!!!
I'm not sure when it came to me to have it there, but it makes more sense to have it somewhere special. We will have a sand ceremony and include Levi in every way we can...
Then we will celebrate where Levi had so much fun!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
I am now 18 weeks pregnant! I have made it past my 16 weeks, which was my own stressful point. I did, however, have a scare. At 15 weeks I got crampy. That is how my last miscarriage started. So, scared out of my wits, I dropped Isabelle off at school and drove straight to Evansville to wait for my doctor's office to open. When they opened I was reminded that my OB is out on Mondays. I was obviously worried and I explained that I'd already drove to E'ville. So I had an ultrasound. I wasn't supposed to have another until Jan. 25. Everything looked healthy, I cried when I saw the baby moving and my placenta looked fine. The baby was giving us issues, b/c of hiding under my bellybutton in its shadow. Then the tech asked did we want to know what it was if she could tell, even though it was still several weeks early. I am not the type to be surprised here, so yeah, I wanted to know. She got a good view and she said she was 65% sure it was a boy, I could see it, kinda. Then the baby moved with a little butt up in the air at a PERFECT angle, and there IT was...Very prominently there...
So we have an anatomy appointment still on Jan. 25. So then we can be 100%, but I am already 99%....
His name will be Gabriel Ian Winkler.

Hey Steph! Of all the times to find me LOL! See below!
Good morning everyone. It has been very intersting these past couple of weeks. A LOT has happened. Gabriel is doing well. He is really active when I am trying to sleep! LOL! I am hoping Matt will be able to feel him kick in a day or two. I am SO ready for Spring! I do not like snow!
Last year I was invited along to a scrapbooking fundraising event for Komen (breast Cancer), called Crop for the Cure (C4C). It was the beginning of Marcg, and the first, honestly, thing I did for ME after we lost Levi:lovestruc. It was 12 hours of me time. I started on Levi's scrapbook there. Two weeks ago I got the dates for this years event and can't wait! When I couldn't sleep the next morning (Sat, 4:30AM) I started to think about getting my things in order for this years' event. Eventually my brain wondered to other things that needed to be done. Among them, I want to order a paver stone from Give Kids the World in memory of Levi.
This is where my brain did a funny thing! :rotfl:At about 5AM, Saturday before last, ideas collided! I decided I wanted to host a scrapbooking benefit with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish (MAW), in honor of Levi. And Scrapping for Wishes (S4W) was born!
Here is a bit from the email I sent MAW: "I am very excited for this idea. You see, I have been waiting over 2 years trying to find a way to help. My son, Levi, who was 16 months, died in 2007. It was not terminal illness, however, it was a careless driver. Right before, we spent 10 magical days in Disney World. I know not all wishes are Disney- related, but many are. And it is my memories of Levi there that I treasure most, that time we had together. I want to help other children have that sparkle of something magical happening, be it a dream job for a day, a much loved animal, or a fabulous vacation. And I want other mommies to be able to look back and remember, either at a harder time made special, b/c their baby got well, or the magical memories that will have to last forever, as I do now."
YES! It is in the works! I have a Facebook page. You can join here Scrapping for Wishes (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=240114243175&ref=mf). Come on over and see all the amazing things that have happened in just 2 weeks! It is AMAZING!:cloud9:
Now for my kinda sad news. 3 weks ago, Matts hours got cut at work. We seem to just now be getting hit by economy issues. It is a scary time for us and budgeting is more important than ever. We have decided to postpone our VR, indefinitely. I can't forsee it happening this year. Hopefully, it can happen next year. I am ok, it is sad, but neccessary for our family right now.
So, I will be asking for this thread to be closed. I appreciate all of you who have followed along on my journey these past several years and hope that you find me again when we start planning something new!!!! Right now, that looks like a cruise on Dream in 2011. Cross your fingers for me!
