How cool that our little ones are both celebrating their 5th birthdays with this trip! I figured that i would do this trip before she is in school so i dont have to pull her out of kindergarten for a week. This way she will only miss a couple of days of preschool - no big deal. We live in South Dakota where the February weather is quite unpredictable so i am planning on flying out on the Thursday before the cruise just to make sure we get there in time.
Cant wait to chat more and hopefully get some more people to join also. I am hoping that we have a really fun group :thumbsup2 I have been reading about the FE exchanges - that sounds really fun!
Happy planning and cant wait for the Magical cruise!

Welcome! Glad to have another family to join the meet thread. So far we do not have a big group but I am sure we will have a good time. Only 11 more months to wait! Since you have cruised before i am sure you will be able to provide some good advice to us "newbies". Have you done a FE exchange on your previous cruises? Looking forward to that too. :cool1:

I'll try to help however I can, but there are way more experienced cruisers here than we are! :) We have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way though, and I'm happy to report that on our last cruise, I was able to tell aft apart from forward, and ended up where I wanted to be most of the time on my very first try! One wouldn't think a boat would be hard to navigate, but it is!
We just did a FE on this last cruise. (I can't believe a week ago at this time we were on the ship, probably eating at late dining!) The FE was a lot of fun, and my children really enjoyed "sneaking" to other participants' doors with our gifts, and of course, they loved racing back to our rooms to see if they received anything!
11 months seems so far away!

Hi, everyone! Welcome to the new family too - glad to have you with us! Looks like our daughters are close in age - maybe they will be friends
I am so excited! i know it is really early but I got our airline tickets today for the cruise. I had enough miles to get one free ticket so I just had to buy one for my daughter. So, i got both tickets for under $400 total! I know some of you pay a lot less than that but for travel from South Dakota, i am really happy with that. We are pretty limited here for carriers and flights so I went ahead and booked them now. We are arriving on the Thursday night before the cruise about 9:30 PM. i am planning on taking Amanda to Seaworld on Friday and then sailing on Saturday. Cannot wait!!!
The other exciting thing that happened today is that we adopted a puppy from the animal shelter. A cute little black and white lab mix - i am hoping to get a good nite's sleep tonite - wish me luck ;)

Hi all,
My wife and I and our 11 year old boy(he will be 12 when we sail) will be on this cruise in 2011. Am looking forward to a great cruise. We got a outside porthole stateroom on deck 2 midships. Will also be travelling with a friend of ours (three adults and 1 child in the room, should be cosy!!).
Am sure to have some questions for the boards, even though I have done other cruises in the past (ancient history - 1989 and 1995!!) as well as being one of the few that did trans pacific and transatlantic crossing back in the sixties (I was a teen on the last one! - I;m 54 now...just showing my age I guess.
My friend of 30+ years is going on his first cruise. I am breaking him in on what to expect, but I am sure he will have a blast. He likes kids a lot,so won't be overwhelmed with the whole disney-kid thing! He is my driver helper, as planning on driving to Port Canaveral arriving a day before the cruise. (Long way from Toronto area of Canada to there, but I did WDW with him the wife and my son 2 years ago, and it was fine!

So now we have over 8 months to wait and we only think about that every minute of every day knowing full well that when the cruise time finally arrives it will go all too fast. Being an adult (and I use that term loosely) I can only imagine the excitement all the kids must be feeling. Niamh even has her own Jack Sparrow wigg and sword that she's bringing with her and we've already decided that one of the highlights of the trip will be the pirates of the Carribean ship at Castaway:cloud9:

Mine is sometimes clingy for about 5 minutes and then she is fine ;) If she has a friend to hang out with that would make it even easier! I am sure they will have a great time :thumbsup2 Kids that age make friends to fast! I am more worried about me - just kidding! I am a single mom travelling alone with DD so I am hoping to find some adults to hang out with too. I am fine by myself but it would be fun to make some new friends too.
Maybe once the date gets closer they can Skype or chat on the phone to get to know each other before we sail.

Hey guys thinking about joining in on your cruise.
My first choice was Feb 19, but there is a large savings for this one....so it will most likley be this one.
This is the same itenerary just 2 weeks earlier....not sure why the big savings.
We wanted to do it on my DS birthday but it will just have to be an early presentl
WE most likely wont officially book for awhile as i want to wait to see if any special promos come up.
We just got off the WONDER and we got a great Florida resident rate for that.
Hope to chat with you til cruise time.

Unless something unforseen comes up we will be doing this cruise.
This will be my fourth Disney Cruise.....
SO excited already and just got off the Wonder
There are a few ports that each of us has not done so we are looking forward to that, but honestly i am looking forward to the sea days the most.
And most likely making KEY WEST more like a sea day for us too!
We did Key West on our last cruise and we also go to Key West sometimes on our Bike (we go Sept 17th for Bike week.) And it just really isnt that "KID" friendly so i think we will mostlikely get off do just a little shopping and take a few pics.
We Plan to be the FIRST ONES OFF THE BOAT FOR CASTAWAY CAY!!!!
Want to get a Hammock and not move for most of the day!!!!

I know there is ALOT of time before the cruise....
BUT WHERE IS EVERY ONE????????????????????????????????
W definitly want to do the FEs, we have one from a couple years ago and we will use that one...
But if you dont have one you can use alot of different things
I have seen people use, purses, disney gift bags, a treasure box, you can be creative and use what ever you like.
Will someone come and talk to me.................:thumbsup2

I guess i am going to go ahead and book i dont want to miss out on the cruise and i the cost may go up instead of down so i will be booking when i get home tonight from work.
HOPEFULLY i can get around the same area as we did On the Wonder.
We were on Deck 2 but right under Topsiders and it was just a quick elevator ride up to get drinks etc.
So i want to check that out tonight.
HOPE YOU GUYS COME BACK SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we had room 2686 on the WONDER very nice spot!!!
So i definitley want to be down that way.
I will have to look at a layout of the ship and see what rooms are available and see what i can get.
Would would like to be a little closer to a laundry room....I dont usually do laundry but i do a bit of ironing.
There are so many fun things that can be done.

Dizzi when is your ds birthday. We wanted to do either mine (Mar 6) or dd's (Feb 21) on the ship but schedules (in my case) or money (in dd's case) wouldn't allow.
How old are your kiddos ?

Have your kids sailed before?
The 11 year old should LOVE THE CLUBS???
My DD was 10 or 11 our first Disney Cruise and she really enjoyed them.
They do alot of cool things.
Is your 11 year old shy or will she participate in the kids clubs??

On my First DCL cruise our meet thread did just about all of the events i listeds.
We also had a lot of scrap bookers (all ladies) and we all brought a srapbook grab bag with us and we meet in one of the bars had a drink and chatted and each took another grab bag it only took about 45 minutes on a sea day.
We had matching LIME GREEN MICKEY TEES
We did bracelets that had our cruise name and date.
It was a Halloween Cruise and a pretty large group/

My 11 y/o gets a twinge of apprehension before meeting new people but I would never call her shy. Here at home she does cheerleading, dance, and a local pageant so there is no room for shyness !! She will be nervous about being without me on a ship of course but will get over that once she has met her first friend.
This is actually the first time sailing for ALL 4 of us ! It should be exciting
dizzi
08-11-2010, 09:55 AM
Oh it will be very exciting............
My DD does cheer too this will be her 6 year of competition cheer.
Just last month when we did our 3rd DCL i got excited just seeing the ship when we turned the corner in the bus that took us over.
Make sure you study the lay out of the ship.
Even though i think the MAGIC is pretty easy to get around, knowing where you are right away, will help out with not wasting time and not missing events, or being late for events.
Are you guys going to the port area early or will you be arriving the day of?
HEY IS ANYONE ELSE CRUISING WITH US????????????
JennLK

I think that we are definitely going down at least 1 day prior. We will either fly down early Friday or maybe even Thursday evening. We have had some major storms up here last few winters do I really don't want to miss my cruise because of snow !
dizzi
08-11-2010, 11:52 AM
Have you guys done the parks before?
WE will probablly go up one day bfore just to be up there.
We went up 2 days before and just chilled and did a little shopping before our last cruise.
WE stay at the Radison, and even though it was a VERY NICE HOTEL....they offer the leave your car.....(which i guess you wont have if your flying)
But we had a great ride over to the port but coming back was a real problem and we ended up having to get a taxi back to the car.
In the long run it was still less expensive than parking the car at the terminal but just wish i had known i would have just went straight for the taxi instead of waiting for and hour for a pick up and then get a taxi.
Live and learn.
But there pool area is relly nice.
WELL OFF TO WORK!!!!!!!!!
CanadianDisneyDad

sdjen- that would be great! I am a little worried that my daughter might get a little clingy and not want to do the club things on her own.
Once your daughter sees all the action going on the clubs she won't mind being away from you. Our youngest daughter is very shy and usually sticks with us but once she was in the clubs she never wanted to leave. We went to pick her up at midnight one night and had to return later because she was still in the middle of eating pizza and ice cream and painting a pillowcase and didn't want to leave yet.

What about Door Magnets too? We did that on our first cruise and had so much fun going around to all of the different participant doors and slapping on our magnet that we had created. It was so much fun for us and our girls to see the new magnets that kept appearing on our door as well.

That's exactly what we did, we had one person organize it and if anyone wanted to participate they just sent that person a PM by a certain date with their stateroom number. Then everyone created their own magnet and duplicated them for as many staterooms that were participating and then just before the cruise we were sent a map of all of the staterooms that were participating and the only rule was that you had to deliver your magnets before the 4th day or something like that. TONS of fun and we never actually saw anyone deliver a magnet to our door, they just appeared like magic!

As far as Tshirts.......
Our first cruise, there was actually a tshirt on Disney online that we decided on as a group and purchased and wore the first day in the terminal....made us easy to spot and it was a blast to have all of us in our lime green mickey shirts.
Our second cruise, several people submitted pictures they made on there computers and we voted on them and then that person sent us an email of the picture we down loaded it and made it into an iron on that we could iron onto any shirt we had or liked. I believe we also voted on colors of shirt but most every one went with white t shirts.
You need to start any kind of process for that about i would say 3 months away
FE's just have to have someone organize who when and where :fish:
Magnets i would assume the same but i will let DAD handle that one.....never done but sounds FUNFUNFUN!!!!

We booked this cruise specifically because it is superbowl week. 2 years ago we went during the superbowl and had such a great time, my husband requested to go again! This will be our 5th Disney Cruise, and we can't wait! We are in for anything, and can't wait until it is time to go!

HI everyone!!
Just wondering if anyone has given any thought to what excursions they are going to do? I know we have awhile before we can book them but I am excited to think about them!
I am thinking about a dolphin swim in Cozumel, Botswains in Grand Caymen, the trolley tour in Key West and stingrays at CC.
Anybody else??
Also, would anyone be interested in sharing a limo to the port? i just think it would be fun but not very cost effective for just the two of us :thumbsup2

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves. We just booked our first Disney cruise yesterday, so I've been spending the last week researching as much as possible. Of course, that research didn't extend to finding out that we booked for Superbowl weekend until I found this board - uh oh! But, hubby doesn't seem to mind much. He has said that if the Lions win the first six games of the season, we may need to reconsider - I'm not holding my breath on that one :)
I'm still trying to figure out all these magnet/fish extender stuff, but I'm sure my daughter would love to be involved somehow. She's beside herself with excitement over not only sleeping on a big boat, but that Mickey Mouse and *gasp* possibly some princesses will be on it as well!
DIS Name: MoserFamily
First Name of Those Sailing: Sandi (me), James (him), Maddie and Otto
Ages of children at time of sailing: Maddie will just have turned 5, Otto will almost be 2
Stateroom(s): 2128
Cruised Before? Once, but not on Disney
Celebrating anything special? Possibly using it as a celebration for birthdays (Maddie's on January 12, mine January 13 and Otto's February 21)
Looking forward to sharing planning excitement with everyone!

Oops , forgot to check into this thread
I posted in here earlier, but forgot to check in. Thanks to SDjen for setting this thread up. Thanks for the welcome CanadianDisneyDad, I think you mentioned you are from Calgary area?? We are from Oakville, ON.
Anyway, CanadianDisneyDad, were you able to take advantage of the Canadian Residents 25% discount offer on the cruise package???, We did and it saved us $906.50 US Dollars. I'm thrilled to say the least.
So, not sure if any families will have a boy around 11, 12 or 13 yo- I think I saw a family from Georgia?. My son Andre, will be 12 at the time of sailing, and I know will surely find someone to hang with as he is an easy going kid (a bit wild sometimes-just likes to be on the go, but easygoing!!-We picked this Itinerary partly for him- he wants to skateboard at the Black Pearl Skatepark in the Cayman Islands on that Portstop). With the KSF promotion now on as well as Canadian Rates promo, we should not have any problems sailing with a good sized group.
Updated info for you all about us:
4 in the Young party:
New cabin # assigned due to Canadian Promo: 2136 (deck 2)
Me - Dan
My DW: Karen
My 12 yo son - Andre
My lifetime friend - Gord (his first cruise ever...)
Dining = waitlisted for Early Dining - the ressie change screwed that up
Night before Hotel: Country Inn & Suites (as we are driving from Ontario)
Till later...

Hi again everyone! I have been in the process of moving, and it is always a lot of work. (We do it a lot as my husband is in the Army!) Dizzi- you were right, we were in Germany, however we have just moved to GA, not far from the Alabama border, as my husband has been assigned to Fort Benning! Luvstocruise- my son is 12, and he will be thrilled that there is someone else his age to spend time with. Darren is also one who rarely sits still, so it seems they should get along great!
This will be our 5th Disney cruise, and we all can't wait!
We were able to upgrade to a verandah room with the kids sail free promo, so we are now going to be in stateroom # 7550.
As far as port excursions, we have been looking and discussing, and we might be doing some different excursions through a different company, we have used this company before for excursions on one of the Eastern cruises we took about 2 years ago. The ones we are looking at include a horseback ride along the beach in Grand Cayman, not sure what the other choices will be tbhere yet. for Cozumel we may do an ATV tour with beach and snorkel time, or maybe an off road tour of the mayan ruins with a mexican lunch and beach resort time. There are so many different choices.
On our last Western we did the beach day at Cozumel, and it was great, if anyone is thinking about that!
the next few months are going to fly by, and ion just a couple of months we can book Palo and all the fun stuff! Can't wait!:cheer2:

Hi everyone!
I have tentatively booked this cruise--although DH is not firmly in the "yes" column yet. There is a group of friends from our old church going on this cruise and they invited us to go as well. Hoping to convince DH in the next couple weeks, but wanted to get a cabin reserved with the kids sail free promo. Our kids will be 15, 12 and 8 at the time of the cruise.
We sailed on the Wonder in January when DH returned from Iraq and had an awesome time--well everyone but DH--he said he was bored. Hoping the lure of a longer cruise with more ports, as well as lots of his buddies will convince him to go again.
We did the FE last trip and it was awesome. Kids were excited to come back each day and see what was there.
Just wanted to say "Hi!"

Hello everyone! I just switched our reservation this morning form the M.R. cruise the same week to this one.
Travelers: Kim, Sean, Hunter (10) and Mackenzie (9)
My husband and myself have cruised with Disney before without the kids, but we have been on several other cruise lines as a family.
I will have to relook at our cabin assignment, but we have a verandah on deck seven midship.
My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary onboard!
The kids are really excited about going on a Disney cruise!

Wow! This thread has been really quiet! Almost at the 4 month mark. Final payment is about 58 days away......
Changed from one category 4 to two secret porthole rooms on Deck 5. Its a little more $$, but on our 4 night we felt so cramped in one room that I think we will enjoy the extra space more than the verandah on a 7 night.

Hi everyone. I have updated the first post in this thread with the new families that have joined.
We are now less than 4 months away from sailing on the Magic :cool1: Counting the days!!!
JennLK - are you still interested in doing the FE list for everyone?
CanadianDisneyDad - how is the magnet exchange going? Are there many participants? I would love to do it but dont even know where to start with printing magnets :confused3
Is anyone else interested in group T Shirts, bracelets, Palo dinner etc... any of the other fun ideas???
If everyone would be able to respond what they would be interested in we can see what we can get organized.
Sorry I havent been responding much - I have been super busy at work but I know that February will be here before we know it (wishful thinking, right??)
I also think it would be fun if we can talk about which excursions we are thinking about. I am still trying to decide what to do and it would be super fun to have some other families on the same ones.
Hope to hear from you all soon!! We need to get this meet thread hopping to help pass the next few months!!! :thumbsup2

Friday - go to Seaworld for the day. I will probably rent a car to get us there and back but not sure 100% yet.
Saturday - i am leaning towards doing a car service to and from the port. I just really dont want to hassle with luggage, directions or driving since it will just be the two of us. Anyone want to share a limo?? :)
Key West - after researching, i think we will probably do the trolley with on off privleges rather than the Disney excursion. Will definitely hit the aquarium and probably the butterfly place. I also want to make it to the southermost point marker and figure this would be an easy way to get everything done. If the rates dont change, I can get a pass for me for $29 and Amanda would be free!
Grand Cayman - I am leaning towards doing Botswains here. I would love to do the stingrays but in reading about other's trips, it seems like the water can be deep and rough and I am worried about trying to manage a 5 year old in that. So, i think we will do this instead. Looks like a neat place.
Cozumel - I think we will probably do a dolphin excursion here at Chakannaab. Looks really neat and we can spend pretty much the whole day there.
Castway Cay - want to do the stingray excursion here (looks a lot more controlled) and then just have beach time. This trip will be the first time I have ever really been in an ocean so I am looking forward to that.
ANyone else want to share their plans??? We need to get this thread going again !!! Again, i apologize for not being more involved ;)

we (and I mean I because I'll be doing all the work!:rotfl2:) would be up for FE although I guess that means I better get going on making one. Always up for Palo, yum yum.
We always love meeting new people so we'd be up for a meet.
Who else has ideas?
I don't think we will be doing any excursions, just wandering, shopping, Geodoc will be geocaching......

I am copying this from the tips thread. Happy reading!!
So just what exactly is a “fish” and just why does it need “extending”? Well… The “fish” is a combination wall decoration/ornament and message clip that is attached to the wall outside every cabin on the Magic & Wonder. The CMs (that’s “Cast Members” for the newbies) use them to leave messages, official forms or invitations for the occupants of the cabin as needed. It’s kind of like a glorified fridge-magnet and it looks like this: (click on the image to enlarge)
A “Fish Extender” is any thing that you care to hang on the fish. Literally anything will qualify, but in general, they are usually some type pocket organizer similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer. They can be as simple as a canvass bag or as complex as your imagination cares to stretch. Here are a couple from our last cruise: (click to enlarge)
We’re are not very good with a needle and thread, so we engineered ours out of a couple of small cotton bags, a Disney themed bandana and some chain from a light fixture and ended up with this variation on the idea: (click to enlarge)
So, what’s it for? Well… It’s become a kind of “Secret Santa” game played by the folks who roam the DIS Boards. The idea is that every DIS Member who is on the same cruise will go around the ship and leave a little “nick-nack” or “whats-it” in the pouches for the other members that are playing along. The generally agreed rules are that you give out gifts to each participant once per cruise, and that the gifts should be very inexpensive trinkets that either fit a cruise or holiday theme and/or show off a little taste of who you are or the place that you call home. Here’s a link to a continuing thread on the boards that discusses the subject at length:

Here is what i managed to find out so far. We need to have between 12-14 people to get the private room for this.
Also, just to let you know, if we do a group dinner, any other reservations that were made online for Palo will be cancelled if this dinner gets "approved" by Disney. However, you can try to get a second dinner reserved when you get on the Magic in February. Here is what someone told me:
List date of cruise, names and reservation numbers of people for the reservation, first and second choice of date and time (either 6 or 8:30 p.m. for dinner). Then, list where you can be contacted during the day by telephone.
Then, 30 days prior to cruise, you will be contacted by DCL to let you know when (and if) you get the private dining room. If anyone in your party has made separate Palo's reservations, they will be cancelled when this reservation takes its' place. So make sure everyone knows that if they want another dinner separately, they have to wait until they get on the ship to try to make a second booking.
So, i need anyone intersted to let me know soon so I can see if we have the correct number to get this reserved. Also, when you do respond, please let m me know if you have a preference for which night or time.
Thanks everyone!!
ps _ so excited - I made the final payment for our cruise today :cool1:

I'm so happy to have found this forum! It's been a long time dream of mine to take my kids on a Disney cruise. I went on one of the first, so called Disney cruises back in 1993 on the Big Red Boat. This year, my hubby granted my wish and we are booked on this trip. First we're headed to WDW for a few days, to stay at the All Star Music Resort. I'm so excited I can hardly sleep! The rest of the family has never cruised before. We aren't telling the kids until Christmas.
Here are our details:
Username: Garrica
Garrett & Jessica
Along with 4 kids:
Ethan 15, Kalista 10, Seth almost 9 (bday 2/14), Griffin almost 7 (bday2/25)
We're split between 2 staterooms (not connected) on deck 5. This is the only bummer to the whole trip so far, but at least they both have verandahs.
We are very interested in participating in the FE exchange, t-shirts and magnets. I can't wait!:cheer2:

Update: I was able to change our reservation to 2 adjoining rooms on deck 6 (6516 & 6518). I had to give up our "kids sail free" discount and in the end we paid more for category 9 rooms than we had booked the category 6 for, but I feel better about staying together as a family, so it was well worth it. Looking forward to more planning!

So, unless someone else with more experience would like to volunteer ;) , I will take care of this. Those of you that have participated in a FE exchange before, any advice or tips would be appreciated. Do you think that a cut off to "register" needs to be set? If so, how far in advance would work?

When we cruised in January, we did have a cutoff for participating in the FE. That way we could get our items ready and not have people jumping into the exchange at the last minute and then us having to rush around trying to get extra items. I think we should have a deadline for the FE since the holidays will take a major bite out of our time to get ready. Our cruise is exactly 6 weeks from Christmas Day!
Maybe a deadline of Dec. 15 to indicate if you'd like to particpate in the FE????

Hi again everyone!!
Just an update on possibly booking a Palo group brunch/dinner.
So far, there have only been 7 adults that have said they would be interested. I believe we need to have 12 to be able to book as a group. So, if we dont have some additional people interested, we may not be able to book it.
It is also my understanding that if you have booked a Palo dinner for yourself, once you have been added to the group reservation, your individual prebooked Palo would be cancelled.
I am thinking that everyone should try to make whatever Palo reservations they would like on the 22nd (except for those lucky ones that have already booked!). Then we can reevaluate in December to see if there is enough interested in trying to add a group Palo event.
I would just hate for someone to count on a group Palo and not be able to make a reservation if we do not get enough people.
What does everyone think??

Too funny! This is happening to me as well. Only, we haven't told the kids about the cruise yet, so I have to be a bit more secretive. Our closet is full of boxes on the top shelf that they can't reach and under our bed too. The other day my daughter opened a package that came to the door because she was expecting something. It was snorkel gear, she said "Mom, Amazon sent us someone else's stuff!" I played along and pretended to send it back. Not sure how much longer I can keep it up. I had pirate costumes in the trunk of my car from when Walmart put their Halloween items on sale. She also found those when helping me with groceries, I told her they belonged to my coworker who had forgotten to take them with her. So far she has no clue, but I'm running out of excuses and places to hide things! Can't wait to tell them.

This is our first cruise and I can't wait! Looking for information and for excursions, planning the trip to get to Orlando...It's very exciting.
I'd like to know if there's any other kids between 2 and 6 years old speaking French. My kids only speak French and it would be great if they could have other children to talk to. At the same time, it will be a good opportunity for them to learn some English.
Thanks

Bonjour Isabelle,
I started to write in French, then decided that might be a bit rude for everyone else. We are from Ottawa, so not that far away. We have two kids, my daughter will have just turned 5 and my son will almost be 2. Unfortunately, while I understand French and can speak passably (I work in Gatineau for the federal government, so I get by), my husband doesn't speak a lick (he grew up in Florida and knows more Spanish). My daughter is in her first year of school and does one week of English followed by a week of French, so she does have a tiny bit - she'll be able to sing "Tete, epaules, genoux, orteilles" with your kids, and sing songs about the days of the week. While not really set for conversation, she might be able to say a few familiar words. It would probably be a good learning experience for her to actually speak with other French children, though.
Welcome, and it will be exciting to have someone from close to home onboard!
Sandi

We're obviously in the same boat. I read on another thread that the site would be down nil 8am Eastern time to load info for the Dream. I feel a bit short changed, but plan to make the 6:45am wake up call to get the booking done MST here in the Rockies. Thanks again for the Palo time listings! Good luck to all and Goodnight. :sad2:

Hope everyone was able to get on and get what bookings they wanted! I was pretty frustrated with the site being down.
I got up early (6 AM) my time and was able to get a Palo Dinner (night 4) and a Palo Brunch (Day 6) but couldnt get into reserve any excursions at all! The site kept kicking me out - :headache:
So, i called the phone number and after about 15 minutes of them trying to figure out what was going on and having me reset about 4 different things on my computer they finally just booked two excursions for me!
I got the Castaway Stingray at 10 AM and the Dolphin Swim at Dolphinaris in Cozumal at 9:15 AM :woohoo: SO EXCITED!!
I would love to hear how everyone else did and what you all booked :yay:

Didn't sleep very well. Woke up at 0100 and still nothing. Woke up at 0345 and could finally get in. Got a Palo brunch on day 2 and a Palo dinner on day 7. Got every excursion we wanted also. My only concern is the deck parties. What time do they happen at? When will we find out our dinner schedule for the cruise?

You will not know until you check-in at PC, get your navigator, and either get into your room or go to the dining change location and have them look it up for you.

I think the site is still having trouble:furious:
I've made several attempts as well the first success I had was at 5:30AM Although it was not a complete success, I was able to secure a Palo dinner (not sure if it will be a convenient time or not yet) and most of the excursions we had hoped for.
The site kicked me out before I could print our itinerary so I'm having a hard time recalling our picks from memory. I just tried to log back in to print, but was unsuccessful once again...ugh.
I know we are swimming with the dolphins at Dolphinaris in Cozumel also, but I can't recall the time.

Only two more months until the cruise. This board has been pretty quiet. Let's see if we can start some topics. We have our fe gift design all done. My brother who is a graphic artist just sent me a magnet design. How big should they be for the exchange? NASA just bumped the shuttle launch to 2/3. How cool would it be if it got delayed a little more and we got to see it.

Now Thnlk....you bring up a good point!!! Perhaps with a little luck the launch might get bumped to the 5th. It would be awesome to see that from the deck of the Magic.

I'm driving to the port. I hope the shuttle does not get delayed again, else I will have an all-day trip just to get to the ship.
Yes, I agree it would be nice to view from the top deck; but the traffic for everyone will be a nightmare (Including those using Disney transportation or coming from OIA).
It might be time to consider getting a room the night before the cruise in the port area.
Geodoc
12-05-2010, 08:38 PM
Well it looks like the tentative launch time is 0134 on the 3rd.....if the launch is delayed a day or two, the launch time usually only changes by a few minutes......so maybe will need to stay up late and view the launch from the hotel. That should solve the traffic problem I guess!

Just had to share our excitement. My sister-in-law had been living in Grand Cayman this year, but moved back in September to tie up some loose ends she left back in Canada. I was disappointed, because I was excited for her to show us around and to spend the day visiting. Well, she's tied up all her loose ends and is now moving back right after Christmas. Yahoo! Now our day will be spent visiting on the beach, with an extra babysitter :)
Planning has been going slow - I totally know how to plan a Disney vacation, but seem to be out of my element with the cruise. I'm hoping once Christmas passes, I'll be able to focus more.
Looking forward to it!!!

I'm sure everyone is busy with holiday prep. I know we are. I work 12 hour nights all weekend and then am off until New Years Eve. We still have some shopping to do and all the wrapping too. Time is flying and we'll be cruising in no time so I'm trying to get vacation prep fit in too.
We visited Disney World in 2005 and 2007 with our daughters but our son has never been. This is our first cruise.
Our plans so far
Feb 2nd-Morning Flight Buffalo to Orlando and stay at Pop, Boma for supper
3rd- Hollywood Studios with Sci Fi Diner booked for supper
4th- Epcot with Akershus booked for Breakfast
5th- drive to the Port in a rental van
Key West- Hop on Hop off Trolley
Grand Cayman- ??
Cozumel- ??
Castaway Cay- Snorkeling and maybe Rental Bikes
Feb 12th- Evening Flight Orlando to Buffalo
We're really unsure about excursions and with our little guy we can't book much through Disney if we plan to include him. On board we want to some of the tastings (beer, tequila) and the Tea for the kids). We aren't planning on doing Palo or the Spa.

Hello everyone! Counting the days until we are on the Magic!
I am asking our experienced cruisers about the DIS meet on the first day. I have done some research and it seems to be that the Promenade Lounge is a popular place to meet as a group.
Can you guys confirm that would be okay? Also, what time would you suggest that we all get together??
I think it will be really fun to meet on the first day so we can all see some familiar faces throughout the trip!

We're getting so excited. We told our 4 kids about the trip on Christmas Eve, they were elated. Now we're counting the days. Our whole Christmas was centered around the cruise from sand toys to walkie talkies, there was a purpose for each gift. I'm not too worried about space since we're flying Southwest & each get to check 2 bags, plus we have two staterooms. I hope it all fits and I'm not wrong.

Hi,
Did a little research on times for the first day.
The mandatory boat drill is from 3:30 to 4:30 and then the sail away party starts at 4:30.
What does everyone think about 2:30 in the Promenade Lounge to meet on Day 1? That should give everyone enough time to board, have lunch and wander the ship for a bit.

We decided against a few planned xmas things and are going to do a dolphin swim. I am leaning towards Cozumel but I'm not sure yet. My 7 year old is so worried about missing the boat while visiting a port that she even has me worried a bit about booking an excursion on our own! It's the only way to be able to book my youngest with us though.

So do we have a final FE list now?
Going out today to buy stuff to try and make a fish extended that requires no sewing. We shall see how it goes

So excited!! We live in Central Florida, but have never been on any cruise, I don't know why we have waited so long. We go to the parks at least a couple times a month, and stay at the resorts a few times a year. We are definitely a Disney family!
The only thing that matters now is that we are going on the Superbowl Cruise! DH just booked it this morning :) yay!!!

Sent the list with names and cabin numbers via PM. If you didn't get it in your private messages, let me know.
Edit:
Oops, just realized that you probably don't have enough posts to use PM yet. If you post your email, I will send it to you via email.

We are so new to posting here, but have been reading the boards for years. Feel late to the party!
Can we still participate in the FE? Have heard a bit about it, but being new to cruising had no idea that something fun like this existed until after we booked and I searched for our cruise!

You are very welcome to join our FE. If you would please post your names, ages of kids and cabin # so that I can add you to the list. If you do not want it on a public board, you can email it to me at tlotto95@comcast.net.
Not sure what the post count needs to be for PMs (might be 10??), but I don't think you have enough posts for that yet. If you want to add some dummy posts to our thread, that would be fine so that I can PM the FE list with alll personal information back to you.

Huge NFL fan... Even bigger Bears fan (anyone else?)
Is there a good place to watch the Superbowl on the ship? Any family friendly places, or should I plan to have babysitting for my 10 month old? First cruise so I'm clueless if there are any sports bar places or huge tvs on the Magic!
TIA for any help ;)

The game will be shown on the Dumbotron TV on Deck 9. From what I understand there is also a buffet with Superbowl type snacks up there as well!

A special hi from the other side of the St Johns river.
There is Diversions Sports Bar on Deck 3 and the Promanade Lounge. I'm sure a lot of people will be coming back early from Key West excursions to watch the game.

Would you like a local weather report one week before sailing? So you can plan on what to wear on the Friday if coming in the day before or on Saturday to the ship? :happytv: :surfweb:

Hello! You must be Debary/Deltona? I didn't peak at your user info, better to guess :)
The weather today is terrible in CFL... Kind of funny to say I need to get out of Florida to get some better weather!!
Thanks for reminding me about Key West. I'll have to set an alarm on my phone to get back on the ship early. I know a lot of frequent cruisers see KW as a ship day, but I've never been ;-0 it's the only reason I picked the Western Itinerary.

I'm starting to feel like we'll be cruising in no time. I've got my fe stuff planned but still need to finalize. My biggest thing is the shopping I need to do! My girls and I all need new swimsuits. I think we have most clothing we need but I need to sort through and make sure everything fits everyone and finalize what items we still need to buy. Yikes!$$

I am trying to get organized too! It is the wrong time of the year to try to find warm weather stuff though ;) I did find some tshirts and bought a pair of dress shoes for my formal dress yesterday though. I think next weekend I am going to make my daughter try on a bunch of stuff and make sure it still fits her!
Counting the days until we can all be on our Magical journey!!

I would love to get a weather report as well!
I feel so excited and yet overwhelmed with things to finish!:scared1:
We printed out our magnets yesterday and will be heading out to get the final things for our fish extender exchange.
I'm getting a bit worried, I ordered our fish extender in Nov from EBay and it still hasn't arrived :eek:although a shipping label was printed last week.
Hoping to get the suitcases out this weekend.
I also need to pick up some chocolates for the cast members. They really appreciated it from our last cruise and all the Valentines chocolates will be out before we leave.:woohoo:
I can't wait to meet everyone:thumbsup2

We once were 4 and now we're 6. When Joybiz posted on this board there were only 4 friends travelling. Since then our 2 fantastic cousins are travelling with us. The ages of these children are 50 & 47.
We were wondering if there was a babysitting service on board. . .

72 72 72 Average High
50 50 50 Average Low
88 86 85 Record High
35 29 29 Record Low
