Welcome to my trip report!

If you’re coming from my ptr, thanks for coming over. :grouphug:

If you’re new to my tr, let me get some of the details together for you...

This is an ADULTS ONLY trip at the Boardwalk Resort for 12 days beginning tomorrow (9/28). Yeah! Characters Gone Wild!!! Whew!! Just kidding! I say adults only just for those who, like me, especially enjoy TRs from an all adult perspective.

The cast:

Me (Lisa)- I’m just shy of 24. I grew up with WDW in my life & feel so blessed that I did. I was ready to buy into DVC at the age of 17, but felt I better finish school first, so I convinced my parents to purchase and then I finally bought two years ago. My goal is to have DVC paid off before I’m married, so that way my family will enjoy “free” WDW vacations...one less expense to worry about. My favorite resort is Boardwalk since a special Mother/Daughter trip where we did a split stay at CR Tower with a MK view & BWI. My favorite “ride” is Mickey’s Philharmagic. Growing up it was Small World & Kitchen Caberet/Food Rocks. I had the Small World book with the cassette that you would read along with & it had the song in the background... I would drive my older brother CRAZY playing it over & over.

Mom (Rose)- She is 59 years old, don’t tell anyone. She loves WDW as well. She says she could just sit with my dad on Mainstreet the entire trip, but we all know she’s the wild one of the bunch & that would only last maybe a day. She was one of those mom’s that would force her kid onto every ride, whether they were scared or not. Thanks mom. To this day I love to tease her about this fact & reflect on those terrifying rides on Maelstrom & Haunted Mansion. She also has to be one of the most sarcastic people I know & I have her to thank for my sense of humor. Her favorite resort is the Boardwalk. Her favorite ride is Space Mountain & screams on every drop & jolt. Riding it with her makes it even more fun than the ride actually is.
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/526/dsc0031mvf.jpg (http://img194.imageshack.us/i/dsc0031mvf.jpg/)

Dad (Don)- He is 61 years old and has learned in his 39 years of marriage to just go with the flow. He loves WDW & could sit on Mainstreet or at the Boardwalk for his entire trip. I have him to thank for my fear of scary rides... Thanks dad! His favorite resort is Beach Club, although we have yet to stay there and his favorite ride is probably Ellen’s... he loves his power naps! I think in the 20 years we’ve been going he has yet to see that whole ride.

Like I said, we will be staying at the BWV for 12 days. The last time I went to wdw was 20 months ago & the last time with my parents was over 2 years ago, so it will be nice. My mom & I are checking in tomorrow. My dad is at a business conference & will be flying in late Thursday night. This trip has been almost a year in the making. It is a VERY special trip. This will be the first trip in five years that my mom will be visiting wdw without the need of a wheelchair. For everyone’s sanity I will not go through the long story. If you would like all the details & see all the crazy changes this trip has gone through, feel free to head over to my PTR: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2217047

What you can expect in this TR, among other things:

sarcasm
lots of pics
F&W food pics
water pics
sarcasm
daily updates
at least one tour
very possibly, parasailing
“characters in flight” ride
sarcasm
Wishes Dessert Party
my parent's first time on EE (they insist they're not going on, but they are!)
everyone's first time on TSM & American Idol experience
& most important, FUN

On this trip I will be bouncing back & forth from my point-and-shoot camera, Olympus Stylus 790 SW (waterproof) & my still somewhat new Nikon dslr D60. I bought this camera to force myself to learn on, however I am ashamed to say, I’m still not comfortable to use it off of auto mode, so don’t expect awe-inspiring. :guilty: When I get home I’m taking classes! Ok, that was a random thought, but I’m gonna go with it. Yes, when I get home I’m taking lessons & I feel you all should know. :thumbsup2

Well, that’s all I can think of tonight. If I don’t get a sudden thought, I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow after my first complete day at Disney!!!!

Oh, by the way... I'm a recovering DISboard SMILLIESaholic. I will try & keep the smillies in control, but they are just so cute! :lovestruc

Up Next: Let the fun begin! I’m at WDW during the final week of the NY Met's season... THANK GOD!

Uh oh! This could mean one of two things. A) the pictures are going to be horrible and I should avoid looking directly at them (which I doubt) or B) you think I own a ::gasp:: CANON! I totally do not! We may differ in our love of baseball teams, but when it comes to cameras we're on the same page. Hey Lisa,

I'm so glad I found you as you're just beginning your trip! I am planning a family trip for January - me, hubby and our two sons ages 21 and 23 and we'll be staying at our favorite - the BWV! I'm soooo looking forward to the "adult" perspective, especially as you're about the same age as my oldest. We've been 3 times before, but this will be the first time we're all legal to drink, so I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know where the cool watering-holes are for 23-year olds!!

Looking forward to your report...!

Well, Day 1 of this amazing trip is complete, so now it’s time to fill you all in. Just a warning this is gonna be a long one.

For those of you who did not read my ptr. We have actually been in Florida since Tues night. We were visiting some family in Ocala, Fl.

Anyway...

After staying about until about 1 am doing last minute things, I finally called it a night. I had set my alarm for 6am, but I really could have gone without it. I was so excited I woke up every hour. Finally at 5:45am I got up. I had bought my mom a special souvenir & had it wrapped & waiting for her by the coffee pot. She loved it.
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1939/p9280231.jpg (http://img29.imageshack.us/i/p9280231.jpg/)

I had some last minute things to pack up, then it was my job to pack up the car, for the two of us. Anti-overpackers please look away now. Here is our rented PT cruiser packed up & ready to go for the TWO of us to go to wdw.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/572/p9280232.jpg (http://img97.imageshack.us/i/p9280232.jpg/)

Can we say a little out of control?? Oh & yes, the backseat is folded down to accommodate the luggage. Now I will go on the record & say that yes I do overpack- I can’t help it. However, I’m not near as bad as my mother. Do you know of anyone else who checks into a hotel, especially one at wdw, with leftovers???! Yeah, she did. “Hi we’re checking in. 3 suitcases & a bag of leftovers.” Yeah, it’s bad. While at my family’s house we had Sonny’s BBQ, which is not available in NY. Well, my parents are obsessed with it. Since my dad is off at a conference my mom felt the need to pack a plate of leftovers for him. So we checked in this morning with a bag of leftovers! After packing up the van. I was told that we had to drop my aunt’s garbage off at the dump. Ummmm... okaaaaay. So instead of unpacking the entire half of the PT cruiser, I got left & this took my place:

My mom got back from the dump & we were finally ready to leave. But wait! My mom had to have Dunkin Donuts. She has been watching her weight & was dying to have some hash browns. So we headed over to DD. HUGE mistake. We ordered two boston cream donuts, one hash browns & a coffee. Kind of hard to mess that up right? Oh, no. We’re in Florida folks. First of we get up to the window & the lady behind the counter hands us a bag with the two donuts & the coffee. She then disappears for 2 minutes. She then reappears walking through the parking lot. Oookaaay. I look through the bag to get out our donuts & there’s something wrong... wrong donuts. I opened the bag & saw no chocolate frosting. I then lifted the donuts & still saw no frosting. She reappears in the window & we give them back & tell her they’re wrong. She hands them back & says they’re right, just up-side-down. Now when it comes to me & my boston cream donuts I don’t mess around! I take the bag back & flip them completely over this time. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but this is not how we get out boston cream donuts in NY. Fine whatever. We begin to eat them as we sit there waiting for the hash browns. We sit for about another 4 minutes. During these four minutes the window of the drive through is opening & shutting like every 20 seconds. We don’t know what is going on in there, but we don’t know what to think. Now it’s 15 minutes of sitting at the window for a stinking cup of hashbrowns! The window opens for what felt like the 150th time & our girl reappears. She then asks us to pull over into a parking spot & she will bring them when they are ready. Okay, maybe I’m missing something, but usually you’d think at now 8am, probably DD busiest time that maybe I don’t know, they’d have some food! It’s fried potato for goodness sake! 20 minutes later we finally get the long awaited hash browns. Really at this point I was expecting my mom to pull out a cup of solid gold hash browns. This is what we got.
[IMG]http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8871/p9280239.jpg (http://img16.imageshack.us/i/p9280239.jpg/)

We were so beyond annoyed, I think we laughed about half of the way to wdw. It really was crazy & a really weird experience to say the least. So finally, we actually are on the road. I was the navigator. I never recommend Mapquest, but they actually did a good job. We got to the BWV in exactly an hour. It was a nice drive & it went buy really quick. We arrived at BWV & the valet took the bags & car- poor guy! Check in was a breeze, or so we thought. There was a small hiccup you’ll hear about later. After checking in we walked the boardwalk & then to my GREATLY saddened eyes I turned the corner & saw this!!!
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1993/p9280245.jpg (http://img10.imageshack.us/i/p9280245.jpg/)

Noooooo! One of my main objectives this trip was to get as many BW photos as I could. Hoping it’s down before I leave. Also, there are construction walls up at the front of the resort, as well as the dtd marketplace bus stop is still closed, until at least Thursday. the MK bakery is closed until the 6th, hoping it stays on track, as well as others. After we walked the bw, we picked up the car, gassed it up at the hess & returned it to the Dolphin resort. It was about 10:15 by then so we lazily walked over to Epcot to enjoy F&W right at opening. The walk was nice. We had to pick up our annual passes. Now this I was very worried about. Just a few days before leaving I realized that I had lost all confirmation info on my ticket purchase. We got there & explained the situation. The girl searched the database & found 47 women with the exact name as me picking up tickets. One from the same town, but still found nothing. Turns out, I purchased them in my mom’s name. Oops. After about 10 minutes she found it & we were finally on our way. We went into Epcot & found a bench right in between Greece & Canada’s booths. We were armed & ready. We had the plan of attack all mapped out. My mom would sit on a bench in the shade & I would be the food runner. She would also journal what we ate & right each of our ratings from 1 - 10 down. When it comes to food, I don’t mess around. Once we were done that area, we'd move to the next shaded bench & continue the process. Now let me take a moment to put in my brief disclaimer for the day. IT WAS 93 DEGREES TODAY!! That is oh, my God we’re gonna die hot. Not exactly the type of weather you want to lug around a 300 lb camera, take lots of pics of yourself & eat a lot in. I did get some pics today, but not a lot with us in them. Just thought I’d let you know.

So that was it for F&W today. It was just too hot. We did those in less than 30 minutes & it was empty. The most I ever had in front of me was two people. All the other lines, I walked right up & ordered & it was only the 4th day of the festival! It did however get busy at about 12pm. So if you’re going, get there early. After F&W we continued throughout the rest of the world showcase & onto that ice cream place at the front of the park. We both got a raspberry smoothie & it really hit the spot! After the smoothy we walked back to BWV in a daze due to the 93 degree temperature I’m sure. We got back to the resort & of course our room wasn’t ready yet. We sat in the lobby for a while, then moved to the porch on the rocking chairs. We sat there for about an hour, still pretty zombified (is that even a word?). We got a text saying our room was ready, so cool by the way, but you still have to go to the front desk to find out your room number. We got our room number & right away I knew what was most likely awaiting us. A few weeks ago I had heard that the entire 4th & 5th floor were closed due to renovations & we were just assigned a 5th floor room! Could it be?? We get off the elevator & I smell fresh paint. Then I see new everything. We walk for a good amount of time, about a 6 minute trip from the lobby. We get to our room & I’m so excited I’m flipping out. I put my key in, red light. I try again, red light. I keep trying. Same thing. My mom tries her key, red light! Nooooooo! So now I walk all the way back to the lobby hoping to just get new keys. I didn’t know if it was an accident & they assigned us the wrong room. So I get back to the lobby & they tell me that the lady didn’t assign us a room on our keys. So they gave us new keys & now I head back. These keys worked & we did in fact get a refurbished room, complete with flat screen tvs. Here’s the pics:

After we get our bags from bell services & yes, even our leftovers made it. Thank God. Don’t know what my dad would have done for food. We headed to HS to take a look around at the new Pixar area. Cute. We then head back to the BW and enjoy a nice dinner at ESPN Club. It was really good. A while ago I had read a survey that the ESPN Club had the best hot dog on property & I do have to agree, it was huge! My mom got a turkey sandwich with a cranberry mayo which was also good, except I wasn’t a fan of the cheese. It tasted like swiss, but it wasn’t. My hot dog was a chili cheese dog that came with onions on it, so I asked for them in the side. Here’s the pics:
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9017/p9280279.jpg (http://img35.imageshack.us/i/p9280279.jpg/)
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/7023/p9280280.jpg (http://img41.imageshack.us/i/p9280280.jpg/)

After dinner we headed to Downtown & walked & window shopped. We then met the coolest cast member, who we actually made plans with to go back & visit when my dad gets into town. He was hysterical!! He was joking around that he wasn’t happy with the new hall of presidents. He said how disney is usually always so accurate but this time they dropped the ball... they forgot the TelePrompTer. Then he was making jokes about how people get upset when they come & see things are being rehabbed. His answer was something to the affect of, “...what do you think we have magic here?” Then he talked about the economy & that when people ask how wdw is doing he replies, “Oh, we’re ok. Whenever there’s a downturn, we just turn on the rain machine & then people run inside & shop.” The best is people think he’s serious!!! He was hysterical. After that we got on the bus to go home & I don’t think any of us thought we'd live to see our resort. Oh my God. This driver was bad. She’s gonna have to get new breaks on that bus every two months. At one point a guy (from NY of course) spoke out, “I feel like a bobble head!” It was so funny! After our bus fiasco we got to our room & my mom was in bed about a minute later.

Tomorrow we have a resi at Tony’s for lunch. So we’ll spend the morning at MK, then after lunch head back to the resort for some pool time- it’s gonna be 92! Thankfully there’s a cold front coming in after tomorrow, so it will only be 87. Wish those were the cold fronts we had in NY.

If I’m forgetting to mention important things or if you guys are wondering anything, ask away & I’ll try & get you the answer. Oh, one side note, TSM standby line was only 40 minutes at 4 this afternoon. I thought that was pretty good for what I had been reading.

Also, I will be posting more random photos periodically. I don’t want to overwhelm each day’s post.

Up Next: Day 2... will it be another day of refurbishment walls???

Looking forward to seeing your F&W pics since we’ll be there in about a month and are anxious to see what are some good choices for us to use our snack credits from DP on.

Oh, this is the place for you. :) Between the three of us, we will most likely try each F&W offering. We're not doing any other the special, additional priced events, just the booths.

Uh oh! This could mean one of two things. A) the pictures are going to be horrible and I should avoid looking directly at them (which I doubt) or B) you think I own a ::gasp:: CANON! I totally do not! Oh, I know you're a Nikon girl. I'm just trying to make sure no one has there expectations too high. ;) Since yesterday was so hot, I didn't even take it & today is gonna be the same. Starting tomorrow I'll start using it, but it's just been way too hot.

I also followed your from DVC board and can't wait to see the flat screen and armoire. As far as I know, you will be the FIRST to post a photo of the new TVs at BWV! Thanks for taking vacation time to feed us BWV lovers!

No problem. I love the BWV, so there is going to be a lot more BWV pics soon, especially if they get that scaffolding down. :)

This looks like it is going to be GOOD!!- Have a great trip and I am in!!!
Also will be arriving on the 7th so advice for Food and Wine - what to get and what to avoid would be great!! :cool1:

Well, our plan is try try everything they offer between the three of us. After just yesterday I can definitely say make a beeline to the Fisherman's pie at Ireland, if you're a fan of seafood. It just may be the best thing I have ever eaten! :cloud9:

Looking forward to your report...!

No problem, I'm on it. :thumbsup2 If they're into sports, definitely head to ESPN Club. Actually even if there not, the food is great too! We went on a Monday night, which was real cool. They have two hosts & broadcast live in the restaurant on all the tvs while watching the game. They were hysterical! I don't know if they do it every night or just when there's a big game, but it was fun!

Sounds like your having fun! Love the refurbed rooms, Boardwalk is one of our favs, stayed their on our honeymoon. My daughter wants to know if the pizza window is still there because Spoodles is gone. That's her favorite pizza she was looking forward to that. Also did you buy your annual pass at the international gateway enterance that's what I'm hoping to do in Nov. Oh, we are having a good time so far. Thanks. :goodvibes BWV has always been our favorite too. So to stay here for 12 days is just amazing! :cloud9:

Yes, the pizza window is still there. So your daughter will still be able to enjoy her pizza. Yes, we bought our APs & TIW card at the International Gateway. It was great 'cause there were no lines. I will tell you that buying the TIW card on property, you get it like an ap, it's that paper. That was new to me. Last time I ordered it ahead, so it was plastic like a cc. I think I actually like it better as the paper though. :thumbsup2

Thanks for a wonderful report! Felt like we were right there with you ... which is a great cure for those of us suffering from WDW Withdraw:goodvibes

I can totally understand your disappointment with all the scaffolding that is up around the BW. I hope they take some of it down while you are there so you can enjoy the view!

Love :lovestruc the photos of the refurbished room. Never too many photos of WDW for me. What view do you have from your room. I know I read you have a BW view but would love to see a photo. Also, it looks like you have a dedicated 1-BDR ... as I didn't see a door to the studio.

Have a magical day!:wizard:

Oh, I'm so glad you're enjoying it. :goodvibes

We are in a dedicated (no studio door) 1 bed preferred view room for two nights. It is much bigger than any of the 1 beds I've stayed in at BWV. Then we move to a 2-bed bw view room. I did take some shots of our view in this room- I'll post them tonight. We look over the canal to HS, with the dolphin & swan right in front of us. :cloud9:

Off to MK! :cool1:

I'm anxious to see what your view will be from the two-bedroom BW view. It looks, from the photos that you posted of the scaffolding, that our favorite BW view villas have already been completed ... or maybe they haven't started that area yet:confused3

OMG that scaffolding on the BWV is horrific!!! I understand that places have to get spruced up a bit here and there, but c'mon! I seriously hope that's done with by December---but I have a sneaking suspicion that it won't be. :headache: I guess getting a refurbed room (which look great by the way!!!) is a little consolation prize. ;)

Looks like you guys are having a great time so far, can't wait to hear/see more!

I am so excited and hyped now to visit in December 2010 after seeing pics of the rehabs at BWV!! I love the color of the rooms, the sofa is SO much better than the old ones (it IS a new sofa, correct?) and I love the flat screen tv's. I miss the old armoires but it looks like more space in the rooms now. I can't wait to see the view you have now and the boardwalk view in a couple of days. Darn I wish I had stowed away in your suitcase!! ;):rotfl2:

I would have fainted if I had turned the corner after coming down from the lobby and saw the scaffolding :scared1: But hopefully they will have it all torn down by the time your boardwalk view room is ready.

Love the pics of the food - we've always wanted to visit during F&W Festival. I would love to go in early October sometime - I loved seeing all the Christmas decorations in December last year and that is why we chose to go again 11/28-12/4/2010. Now maybe I'll have to rethink our plan and hit F&WF. :confused3

This time of the year is my favorite! I love f&w.

No, I haven't been using the slr yet. Beginning tomorrow I'll have it, but these last two days have been way too hot to be carrying it around all day.

Hope you are off enjoying MK!

They've been doing the remodeling by floors. the top two floors are done, it appears. The lobby's floor (2nd) is not done yet. I don't know about the other floors though.

Yeah, turning that corner & seeing that scaffolding was pretty painful! :headache: I think it will be down by Dec. They're just painting, all the repair work appears to be done & I think that section was the last section.

Day 1, part 1

Hello again everyone. I’m back after a full day here at WDW.

Well, today we had a little bit of a late start. We arrived at the bus stop for MK at 9:15am. We had an awesome bus driver.
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/5830/p9290288.jpg (http://img268.imageshack.us/i/p9290288.jpg/)

We ended up getting to MK at 9:45am. MK was empty! Today there was a MNSSHP, so the park closed at 7pm. I’m sure that’s why it was so empty. We stopped for a pic & had the best photopass photographer ever. He was hysterical. Can’t wait to get the CD to show you guys.
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8646/p9290290.jpg (http://img132.imageshack.us/i/p9290290.jpg/)

We did our family tradition of heading to the left. On our walk we saw this women walk past us & as long as she was in our sights she was carrying her stroller like this.
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9986/p9290295.jpg (http://img195.imageshack.us/i/p9290295.jpg/)

We felt someone should of probably told her that they seem to work better when you place them on the ground & push. I have no clue why she was carrying it- the wheels were not broken. Weird. We got to POC & it was closed at 10am. :confused3 I mean roped off with 5 CMs standing there. We asked what was up & they said they were having technical difficulties & to check back later. We continued toward BTMRR. On the way we noticed this sign at Peco’s Bills. Thought it was interesting.
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/5851/p9290296.jpg (http://img19.imageshack.us/i/p9290296.jpg/)

We passed Splash without much interest. That drop freaks me out & I cannot get myself to go on. :scared1: We made it to BTMRR & it was also roped off with 5 CMs in front. It was also closed due to technical difficulties. :confused3 We thought that was pretty weird. So we got fastpasses for it and continued on.
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7633/p9290297.jpg (http://img24.imageshack.us/i/p9290297.jpg/)

We went over to Liberty Square & had some popcorn. I’m not a popcorn fan but Disney’s popcorn is amazing! Love it. After our popcorn we did a little window shopping in the Christmas store across from the hall of presidents. After our window shopping we headed over to hall of presidents to check it out since the rehab. I really like how they made it just about the presidents and focused on quite a few of them. It was nice. Next we headed over to HM. Love that ride! Now it was time to head back to BTMRR. The wait was only 5 minutes, at 11:30am, so the CM told us not to waste our FPs & use them later. We got the second to last row, which was great ‘cause the back is always the best. My mom didn’t remember it, so she was hysterical. We had our whole “car” hysterical. She’s not a ride screamer, she’s like a scream-talker on rides. It’s very funny. At the end of the ride the man in front of us turned around, looked at me & said, “You’ve got to get her on Expedition Everest!” :rotfl: I plan to! Next we headed to Fantasyland. Can I just tell you how empty MK was... every ride had a wait time of 5 minutes, except Peter’s Pans, which was only 30 minutes at 12pm. We rode small world next. That is always fun for me, as it was my childhood favorite. It wasn’t too enjoyable for my mom however. The man in front of her had unbearable breath. Every time he spoke the smell would go back to my mom. I would get a whiff every once in a while & let me tell you, I think he had a rotted tooth or something. It was unbelievable. I was hysterical the whole ride watching my mom try to keep her composure. :lmao: It was hysterical for me, but near painful for her. Here’s how she rode the entire time.
http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8388/p9290303.jpg (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/p9290303.jpg/)

After small world, we sat on a bench for a little bit to try & cool off. Didn’t work too well, so we decided to head over to tomorrowland & ride the newly refurbed TTA. The lights were on in SM, but they closed off most of the visible areas.
http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/9383/p9290308.jpg (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/p9290308.jpg/)

Day 2, part 2

It seemed identical with the exception of the colored lights. We could only see the light when in the dark tunnels, but I can’t wait to see it at night. After TTA we headed to Mainstreet & window shopped a little more. Then it was finally 1:20 & time to head to Tony’s for lunch. I am not a huge fan of Italian, other than my fam’s. However, Tony’s is my mom’s favorite. I really ended up enjoying it. My mom had the mixed greens, followed by the eggplant catasta & I had the baked ziti. We really enjoyed it. We were stuffed.
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/8905/p9290320.jpg (http://img28.imageshack.us/i/p9290320.jpg/)
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/5411/p9290321.jpg (http://img42.imageshack.us/i/p9290321.jpg/) http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/8425/p9290322.jpg (http://img2.imageshack.us/i/p9290322.jpg/)

We got out of Tony’s at 2:15, so we decided to head up to the train station & get a spot for the parade. It was hot. We were in the shade, but we were cooking. It was hot. Here’s some pics of the parade. They had a little mini parade for Snow White’s DVD release.
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7853/p9290327.jpg (http://img24.imageshack.us/i/p9290327.jpg/)

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/361/p9290357.jpg (http://img193.imageshack.us/i/p9290357.jpg/)

Next we went back to the room for a little pit stop. We hung out in the room for about 45 minutes. Then we decided we wanted to go see the American Idol experience but then realized that being that tonight was a F! night, we decided against it. So we headed over to Epcot. It was PACKED! I think everyone on property was at Epcot. It was a zoo. :scared1: We headed to Soarin, but the stand by was 60 minutes. We were going to get FPs but that hill was a little much for my mom to do again at the end of the day. We ended up riding Spaceship Earth- love that ride! Here we are in the future!
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7488/p9290374.jpg (http://img43.imageshack.us/i/p9290374.jpg/)

Next we headed over to TT & got a FP. Then we headed to the F&WF marketplace/visitor center, which was nice & it was also air conditioned, so we weren't complaining. ;) Now it was time to head back to TT. The wait wasn’t bad at all. By this time it was about 7:30 & I was getting hungry. My mom was still full from lunch. I decided I wanted to head to my favorite CS, Cantina de San Angel, especially since we were right there. We got to the stand & I noticed they changed the entire menu!!!!! :sad1: My favorites were gone!! No more wet burrito, no more combination plate. Gone! At this point there was nothing that sounded good. So we just figured on our walk through the WS, whatever sounded good I’d get. I wasn’t hungry, hungry, so I didn’t want to try more F&W food, ‘cause it wouldn’t of stood a chance, since it wasn’t mexican. We stopped in China & got two eggrolls each. Love them!
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9162/p9290377.jpg (http://img30.imageshack.us/i/p9290377.jpg/)

Next my mom got fried ice cream at the america pavilion. It was really good!
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1364/p9290380.jpg (http://img28.imageshack.us/i/p9290380.jpg/)

Then I decided I KNEW what I wanted, more escargot. Every F&W booth we past had maybe one or two people on line, if any at all, so I was ready. We walk the rest of the way to France. As soon as the booth was in my sight, I was pretty disappointed! There was a line snaked through turnstiles. Noooo! I was so tired, the last thing I wanted to do was wait. So we just headed back to the boat & I figured I’d get something on the BW. The boat took forever to come & for some reason, they don’t have any benches there for people to sit while waiting. Another odd thing at the IG, is they do not have a separate line for people without bags to get into the parks, so it is really congested & you end up having to wait for people to get there bags checked. Anyway, we got back to the BW & I decided to get a slice of pizza at the window. It was very good & inexpensive. I mean it’s not NY pizza, but at least it’s not Dominos. I enjoyed it.
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/4636/p9290382.jpg (http://img39.imageshack.us/i/p9290382.jpg/)

We sat on the BW for a little bit & then decided to call it a night. Tomorrow we change rooms, so we have to pack up & I want to check in early tomorrow, to try & get the best BW view room possible.

I hope I’m doing ok so far. There is going to be a lot more fun & pics soon. It feels weird to be here & my dad’s not. It’s almost like we feel like our vacation can’t/shouldn’t really start until he’s here. Also, this heat really takes a lot out of you. Tomorrow it will be cooler, so that will help. Plus I’ll have the dslr out tomorrow.

Keep the comments/questions coming. I love hearing from you guys!

Up Next: The long awaited BW View!!!!!!!

Great update! Glad to see you guys are having a good time and with relatively low crowds. I gotta say they---you NEED to go Splash Mountain and I mean neeeeeeeed. It is a 12 minute long ride that is the best and only like 20 seconds of it are spent on that pesky drop. It is honestly my favorite attraction of all time and I think you'd really enjoy it if you went on. C'mon! Be a big girl and suck it up!! ;) :rotfl:

Great update! Glad to see you guys are having a good time and with relatively low crowds. I gotta say they---you NEED to go Splash Mountain and I mean neeeeeeeed. It is a 12 minute long ride that is the best and only like 20 seconds of it are spent on that pesky drop. It is honestly my favorite attraction of all time and I think you'd really enjoy it if you went on. C'mon! Be a big girl and suck it up!! ;) :rotfl:

Yeah!! I agree!!

SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!! SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!!:lmao:

I just found your PTR and TR today and am all caught up. I'm really enjoying the fact that I can see your pics. I read TRs at work (during my breaks, of course :rolleyes1). Our IT department has many of the photo sites blocked so I usually end up relying upon my memory when someone says "Here's a picture of us in front of the Haunted Mansion" or something like that :confused3. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do...KWIM?

I agree - you must try Splash Mountain at least once! Maybe at night you wouldn't feel the nervousness so much :confused3

It was weird the way that lady was carrying her stroller - maybe since she didn't have a child in it, she would have felt even weirder pushing an empty stroller (only reason I say this is because last December I had done a stroller swap and picked up a double stroller at the GF for when my DD & DGS were to arrive 2 days later but we ended up not needing it. Well long story short, I took the monorail from GF to Epcot because I was staying at BWV & thought I'd just push it thru Epcot, take it to luggage services & ask them to hold it. Then I saw that Soarin' only had a 10 min wait so I parked it and rode Soarin', then saw the wait times for TT & MS and decided I would rather push an empty stroller thru the park instead of going back to the resort and back to Epcot. Boy did I get some funny looks and remarks :lmao: - pushing an empty double stroller at my age made me feel like I'd hijacked it instead!)

Day 3, part 1

Disclaimer: it’s late & I have 132 pics from today. Tomorrow is a down day at the resort, so I’ll be posting the pics tomorrow, probably in the morning. The monorail fiasco really messed us up. Sorry about that. :flower3:

Greetings from my BW view balcony! :cool1: This has been quite the day, so lets get started!

This morning we had to check out of our 1-bed & check into our 2-bed bw view villa. We really don’t need a 2-bed, but that was the only bw view available. So we had to settle for a 2-bed. I know poor us. We had gotten a later start than I preferred, but it worked out fine. We left our room at 8:50am. We checked in with a CM who seemed to not have a clue what she was doing. :sad2: She checked us in & then just stood there & stared at us standing there staring at her. She was like, “Is there anything else I can do for you????” I was like, “Yeah, are you going to call us when our room is ready?” She then made a puzzled look. I then continued to go through the whole story again saying that we were getting a new room today. She then suddenly understood & told us we'd get a call. It was so weird, ‘cause it was after she had checked us in completely. :confused3 It’s like she left us for a while there & then returned with no memory. We left not feeling too confident, but quickly forgot about it. We decided to start our day in AK since that was the only park we had not visited yet. The bus was there waiting for us when we got to the bus stop. We had to make a quick stop at BB & then we arrived at AK. When we arrived we went to the safari. The wait was only 20 minutes, so we decided to go for it. It was the best ever! The driver, Steve vehicle 27 :), was so good that later in the day we went to guest relations & filled out a comment card singing his praises. Not only was he great but the animals were all out big time! In fact at one point we had a rhino so close to the vehicle I could have touched him. We also intterupted a male & female gazzelle spending a little extra time together- to put it nicely. More on that later. Remember in my intro post I used the term, “Characters Gone WIld”? Well, lets just say after today, I should go back & update it to, “Animals Gone Wild”! Here are some of the pics from the safari, as well as the Pangani Forest trail that we did on our walk out. Our driver didn’t stop much, but I was still able to get some good ones. (these are some of my favs with the slr)

Not to save money, not to save on calories, but so we can try more items. :thumbsup2 Next we shared a giant pretzel. Here’s the pics of those.

Day 3, part 2

We decided that we wanted to head over to Epcot, so we got a bus from AK to Epcot. We arrived at Epcot & I went straight to Soarin to get a FP, while my mom kept a bench company. :) My mom asked me to check my phone to see if our room was ready. I knew there was no way it would be ready as it was only 1ish, but I checked. I looked at my phone & sure enough there was a text. I read the text & this time it told us our room number. One problem, it was our original room number!! What???! What does that mean?? So we make a b-line for Guest Service to call BWV. We get on the phone & explain the situation & the man treated my mom as if we were dumb. He said that was normal. So my mom said, “Ooookay, well that’s nice, but we were in a 1-bed & we’re supposed to be moving to a 2-bed.” Well, didn’t he feel dumb. :) Turns out our lovely CM from the morning messed us up. I’m still not quite sure what she did, but he assured us that we were still getting our 2-bed. Thank God that was fixed! Next we went to the living seas, or whatever they’re calling it these days. I have to say I really LOVE that little nemo ride. So cute! After the ride we went upstairs and sat for a while on the bench by the aquarium. Enter our second encounter with “adult fellowship” time. :lmao: This time it was two dolphins & not only were they really into each other, but they were in for the long hall. It was a marathon. The entire 15 minutes we sat there they were “enjoying each other’s company” & I mean REALLY enjoying. It was hysterical to watch all the adults walk up & realize what they & their children were watching. Now that’s what I call entertainment! There was this one family with two daughters about 8 & 9. The mom first realized what was going on & looked at me laughing & then the father noticed. The poor man got so red, he went & stood clear across the aquarium until his family of girls were ready to go. Luckily I decided against photos of that moment- this post could turn into a whole new thing, especially with my 200mm lens! :rotfl: Here is a pic of my mother laughing at the situation at hand.
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2070/p9300390.jpg (http://img40.imageshack.us/i/p9300390.jpg/)

After the love fest we headed to Ellen’s for a nice rest. We timed it perfectly & ended up with a whole row to ourselves. After getting out of Ellen’s at 2:05 I checked my phone & I had a text! It had the rooms numbers. They moved us directly across the hall from our old room (5th floor). We raced back to the resort to see where we ended up on the BW. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7497/dsc1011d.jpg (http://img29.imageshack.us/i/dsc1011d.jpg/)

I’m happy with our view. Really any BW view is great but we lucked out. I’m a little disappointed about the scaffolding being right next to us. Also, with the little half wall in the lg balcony, while seated you can’t really see the bw below you. Also, the studio’s balcony is pathetic! If I was booked in a BW view studio & received that one I would flip out! I’m only 5’2” but standing I could not see ANY of the bw. It’s more like a lake view. How about the size of the 1-bed side of the balcony- it’s huge! I think it’s 20’ long! When my dad get here I’ll have him tell me how long it is, but that’s my guess. After the BW extravaganza & our luggage was delivered, we headed back to Epcot for our Soarin FP that were at 4:21. After Soarin we headed to our Biergarten resi. Mistake #1 of the day, I had changed it to an earlier time of the day last minute & forgot to update my sheet. :sad2: It ended up to be okay, but I had done that because we had the surprise Wishes Dessert Party tonight for my mom. Oops! I actually didn’t really enjoy Beirgarten. I was really looking forward to it & it just kind of fell flat for me. A few weeks ago I was visiting a friend in MI & we went to a German restaurant & I loved it, so I think that’s what messed me up. It just wasn’t that good. Plus I’m not a fan of communal tables. Awkward!
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9835/p9300396.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/p9300396.jpg/)

So I told my mom not to get full ‘cause I really wanted to go to MK & see Wishes and enjoy an ice cream sundae. It worked! She ate real light to save room. After dinner we took the boat to the front of the WS and then the monorail to ticket & transportation- mistake #2. Did anyone hear what was going on with the monorails today?! Well, we didn’t until it was too late! :headache: We arrive at ticket & trans, where were informed that the MK monorails weren’t working. We then were loaded onto coach buses. The buses wouldn’t go until they were full, so we sat there for what felt like forever. Finally we made it to MK & after that whole ordeal they dropped us at the very last bus stop! Well, people went nuts... “Well thanks for the ride halfway there. You could of just left us there & had us walk”, etc. People were mad. I found it hysterical. We get into MK & head for the dessert party. My mom had no clue what was going on, it was great! She was so surprised. We ended up with the best seat & got to enjoy the fireworks from our table, no need to stand at the rail. I’ll post the pics & then comment:

I hate to be negative, but people were AWEFUL!!!! First off they tell you to get there at 8pm. People were already lined up when we walked by at 7pm. It was assigned seats- no need. So my mom & I showed up at 7:56. We were all the way at the back of the line. We stood there & watched as people were lead in & they switched their place cards with other people’s tables who hadn't arrived yet! :scared1::mad: I could not believe the nerve of people. Seriously it was like watching animals who hadn’t eaten in days. People allowed their children to do whatever & take whatever. As it got closer to wishes starting, people started taking people’s chairs while they were up getting food. It was pathedic- every man for themselves! Other than that, it was great! Great food selection, they kept it well stocked, great view & atmosphere. We loved it! I felt it was definitely worth the price, as long as you don’t watch others. The best was Tink flying right over us. She (actually a he tonight ) was great! Right before the fireworks they announced the park would stay open an hour later due to the monorail issue. Well they only made that announcement once, which I thought was a bad idea, ‘cause it was obvious no one heard it. Getting out of MK without monorails was a madhouse! Never want to have to go through that again!! At the end of today we visited three parks & rode boats, buses, monorails & coach buses to get to them! It was a long day.

Tomorrow, as of now, the plan is to have a relaxed day between BWV & DTD. My dad finally comes in late tomorrow night & he doesn’t know we have BW view! Tomorrow I’ll try & post more of the random pics. Talk to you guys soon!

Glad to hear the pizza window is still around. Is it Spoodle's or Kat Kora's pizza

Have fun moving today! Can't wait to see that BW view

I love it! Yes, I hope some "whahoo" doesn't move your table card too. My advise is show up at 8:05pm. They refill the desserts all night, so you won't miss out on anything, except standing in a LONG line. When we were in that room I also reported to the front desk that the room should be booked like a dedicated 2 bedroom because there really is no BW view from the studio part. The studio part should NOT be booked separately except maybe as a standard view. There is definitely a trade-off with the huge balcony in that the solid wall (though low) prevents a clear view of the BW unless you are standing. Of course it also is possible to use the balcony in less clothing.... Love your report!

Guess you can tell that we spend a lot of time at the BW:goodvibes Our favorite rooms are 5003/5005 although we tend to get 5007/5009 a lot (like our last three trips):lmao: Although it is a walk we like that area because it is quiet and has a great view of MK and EPCOT fireworks. Worth the walk for us (especially after eating all those things at WDW that we don't eat in real life).

Great tip on the Wishes party. Wishes will be at 8 p.m. the night we are booked. When I made the ressie she said to get there at 7:45 or so. Love the idea of moving the chairs near the rails about 20 minutes before the show.

Luckily for us, we are staying in a standard view studio in December, so the balcony is kind of a non-issue since I don't plan on sitting on it to observe the delivery trucks to the BWV. :rotfl2:

Great pics from Animal Kingdom and so glad to see you enjoyed the Wishes Dessert Party. I have been going back and forth about whether or not to keep it because it sort of takes the place of dinner that night, but I think I decided to go and try it once. It's only $70 for the three of us, which isn't horribly expensive.

And re: Splash Mountain it is totally a classic and the best ride in WDW, methinks. You don't have to worry too much about getting wet, I honestly never get more than a little sprinkle or Splash (although some people get a little more) but it's nothing like Kali River Rapids. You won't come out with soaked shoes, wet underwear and feeling like your clothes are painted onto your body. No worries. Try it, you'll love it if you do---I promise.

PS: I'm sure you were too busy enjoying WDW last night, but did you happen to hear the update that the Phils won the division? Not shocking, I know, but I thought you'd want an update regardless. ;) :rotfl:

Awesome view ! Now I want to switch from Beach club to Boardwalk,I miss it,but I think my daughter will kill me she's never stayed at the Beach club,my husband and I did for a few days a long time ago now she wants to try it.We all stayed at the Boardwalk last summer with a Boardwalk view and loved it.My husband lived at the ESPN bar when we were there. He also loves the old pictures around the hotel look for the one with the 3 stooges he went crazy when he found that one.

We really want to stay at bcv, but we love BWV so much we're afraid we'll stay at BCV & then be sitting there disappointed staring at BWV.

Yeah it makes sense, the balcony is pathetic but I don't mind it since, like you said, I have the huge on right next door.

Thanks

Those pics are great, I am thinking of buying a dSLR for my upcoming trip "Home"(BWV at Thanksgiving)...what brand, model camera is that and lens too?

Thanks

Thanks. It's a Nikon d60 with a 18 - 200mm Nikkor lens. I love it, but I'm learning still, so my pics don't even do the camera justice. Those were taken in the auto sports mode.

Great report so far! Sounds like you guys are having a great time! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info on the Wishes Dessert Party...we are thinking about doing that, but I would hate to see people acting like that. That stuff really bothers me; why do they think they're any more special than anyone else there?! But I digress. :lmao:

Looking forward to reading more!

I hear you. At one point a man moved his seat in fornt of another families. He saw me watching him & I think my face was talking. SO he looks at me & says, "Hey I paid for this, right?" Yeah & so did everyone one else including the people you moved in front of!

Now I digress.

Definitely do the Wishes party. It was really was nice.

Thank you for updating me on the state of the phillies post season run. You know I have been losing sleep over it. I've been dying to know. Now I can have a great vacation. Thank you for that.

Now would you please excuse me so that I can go jump of my balcony.

I agree with you - the studio should never be booked separately! I would be so disappointed if I had booked just a studio bw view and saw that.

MissMet - I am so jealous of your view tho!! and the balcony from the 1-bedrooom side is awesome. Since I will be reserving a BW view in 2010 for a 2-bedroom and 2 studios, I so hope we get a fifth floor room. I love the new decor in the studio - so much better! I hated those striped sofas!

Your dad will be so surprised  Now as far as the dessert party, I'm so glad you and your mom got a great table (even after all those rude people - what is wrong with people these days?) At least you didn't let it ruin your surprise for her.

I am really enjoying your live TR. I clicked on it because I was curious about the BWV. I had no idea I was going to get a TR as it was happening.

It sounds like you are having such a great time. I am really enjoying your pics of BWV. I am a fairly new DVC member who has stayed at SSR and AKL. I will be calling tomorrow at 7 months for a trip in early May. I would :love::love: to get BWV, but I know its a long shot. Seeing your pics makes me want to stay there even more.

I agree that your view from the 1 BR was lovely and the BW view is even better!

Uggghhhhh....I hate the experience you described with the dessert party. People can be see rude. I'm glad you and your mom still had a great time. Looking forward to reading more!

Day 4

Hey everyone. Today was an unusual day without many pics. It was more of a relax & take it all in type of day.

We started the day later than planned. That has seemed to happen every morning so far. I won’t name names, but I’m always ready to go. ;) We decided we wanted to do a little shopping at DTD, so we headed to the bus stop. We got to the bus stop and there was a CM there. Apparently this is the new thing. There is a CM stationed at all the bus stops with radios. He was great. His name was Rickey. We saw a AK bus come. Then we saw a MK bus. Then a little later another AK bus. Then a little after that another AK bus. Then a MK bus & then another MK bus. Then another bus came, it was a MK bus!!! We saw 4 MK buses & 4 AK buses before the DTD/TL bus ever came! It was ridiculous! Thank God for Rickey ‘cause without him there would have been pandaemonium! He was great. He kept on his radio to find out what was going on. He also sang & danced. He did the “bus song” for about 20 minutes & even got a bunch of the guests to join in. He sang it & it even had moves & the lyrics were, “The bus, the bus, the big white bus. The rain can’t stop it. The thunder can’t stop it. The lightening can’t stop it. You can’t stop it.” He was hysterical!! Once he got the group of guest around him singing it, the DTD bus finally pulled in. Well, when he saw that bus he went nuts, like if he was getting on it. He screamed, “yes” at the top of his lungs & then went running around the bus stop high-fiving everyone. Here’s the infamous Rickey:
http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5149/pa010410.jpg (http://img27.imageshack.us/i/pa010410.jpg/)

We waited so long, that the BWV filled the entire DTD bus. He had to radio that the bus would have to go right to DTD & not make any more stops. In the end, including the wait time, it took us an hour & 10 minutes to get from BWV to DTD marketplace, only stopping at TL. Once we finally got to DTD, we bought some ornaments & I bought an adorable milk & cookies for santa set. (I’ll have pics of that stuff later) After our shopping we were pretty hungry, so we headed over to Earl of Sandwich. We split the All American (turkey, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, cranberry & ranch dressing) & the Holiday Sandwich (turkey, stuffing, gravy & cranberry). They both were equally amazing. Here they are:
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/5815/pa010412.jpg (http://img202.imageshack.us/i/pa010412.jpg/)http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/9241/pa010411.jpg (http://img4.imageshack.us/i/pa010411.jpg/)

Next we did a little more window shopping & then head back to BWV to drop off the bags & relax a little. After some relaxation we headed to Epcot & walked the WS, stopping and sitting in the shade to people watch as we went along. We got to France & sat on a bench & a CM came over & was just standing like 2 feet from us staring. Finally he decided to talk to us. It was weird though. Then he stopped talking but continued to stand there & stare. :confused3 Then he asks us if we would like to take a picture with him. I didn’t know what to say or do. Of course my mom left me hanging & didn’t answer, so I just said, “No... no thank you.” with a smile. So then he just continued to stand over us staring. It was getting really weird. Finally my mom said, “You know what I want to go check out the bakery.” Took her long enough.  It was just weird. Next we sat in Morocco & listened to MoRockin for a while. Then we went to America & shared a frozen lemonade. When we ordered it we thought we were getting one of those frozen minute made lemonades, but what we ended up getting, tasted like a frozen sprite. It was good just not what we were expecting. Here it is, half gone:
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/4111/pa010415.jpg (http://img33.imageshack.us/i/pa010415.jpg/)

Next we sat on a bench just before that Africa outpost. This is where the first sad moment of the day came in. We were sitting on the bench & this older lady (85 years old) and her daughter came riding up each on their own scooter. They pulled up to us next to the bench. They just sat there for a while. The next thing I see is my mom going running down to the end of the bench. Apparently the 85 year old woman decided she wanted to sit on the bench, but didn’t ask her daughter for help. Well, she fell out of the scooter, it looked like directly on her bottom & her leg got caught under the scooter. So my mom went running over & her 30 year background of nursing kicked in. So I look over & see my mom lifting this elderly lady. So now I am in a panic for both the lady & my mother, whose still recovering from a hip surgery. So I got there & grabbed the other side of the lady. We had to pull her back to get her leg out from under the scooter & then we lifted her to the bench. My mom then sat with her & asked her a bunch of questions & just watched her to be sure she was ok. Well, turns out the lady was COVERED in black & blues. The daughter then told us that she insists to do things on her own all the time & ends up falling. She said how she is afraid people aren’t gonna believe her that she’s not abusing the mother. It was so sad. :sad1: My mom was practically crying when we finally left them. I think because of how sad it is, but also because her mom is 87 & the exact same way. Next we headed to Norway & rode Malestrom. I always get a kick out of that ride, ‘cause that was the ride that terrified me most, my entire childhood. Now I ride it & think, “I was afraid of this??”. This time the ride was not too fun. We had an older couple line up behind us, but they thought they were supposed to ride with us, so they got in to our row as well. Those boats were obviously only supposed to seat three adults. We were crammed in to tight we couldn’t move! I was pretty annoyed. I had to sit forward the whole ride. It takes a lot for me to get in a bad mood, especially in wdw, but today was not one of my normal days. :rolleyes1 Things kept going wrong or were just pretty sad. Next we walked to Mexico where we were having dinner tonight. We went on the Mexico ride, don’t remember the name. I LOVE that ride. I love Donald. I’ll take a moment to explain the background of tonight's meal to those who didn’t get to read my ptr. Almost a year ago I was on the DISboards & I saw a thread about a dish at San Angel Inn. I love duck & it was a duck entire that looked unbelievable. You can see a pic in my ptr. Well I have been counting down almost a year to eat this one dish. Sounds a little crazy, but I am when it comes to food. I live to eat! So tonight was finally the night that I would get to eat that meal. As we were sitting on the ride I got this overwhelming thought of what if they don’t serve that dish anymore. I’ve been checking the menus online up until our trip & it is still listed, but I just thought it. So we go to check in & there is a long line. We get on the line & end up right even with the dinner menu. I glance over at it & you guess it. It’s gone!!!! :scared1: I was so upset! Now I started to put two and two together. The CS menu changed & now the TS menu changed, I think they got a new head chef or something. I was beyond disappointed. We were only going there for that dish. So we decided to go up to the counter & make sure they didn’t serve it & then just cancel our resi. Sure enough it was gone, so we gave our resi to a bunch of drunk woman behind us who were trying to eat there without a resi. After I had my 6 year old child, temper tantrum we decided to eat at Sunshine Seasons. :rolleyes1 Sad moment #2 was behind us. We both had the pork with mashed potatoes & carrots & sharred a bowl of corn chowder. It all was amazing!
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2403/pa010419.jpg (http://img340.imageshack.us/i/pa010419.jpg/)

After dinner we walked to the IG boat dock and got on the boat to bwv to meet my dad in the lobby. We got there & sat in that huge chair in the foyer for about 20 minutes until he showed up on ME. We took him upstairs & showed him the room, with the blinds closed. Then when he thought the tour was over I told him he had to see the best part & opened the blinds. He was/is blown away! He’s like a little kid. We spent the rest of the night on our balcony catching up & watching the fireworks. The whole night he kept saying, “This is the best. You know it? It’s the best yet. It’s better than Grand Floridian. This is the best. etc” It was really cute. My mom realized she needed stamps for her work (that she brought with her!! Yeah, what I would like to do to the inventor of blackberries ) and "shout" for my dad’s laundry, so my dad & I headed down to the Thimbles & Threads on the BW. We bought our stuff & on the way back we saw sad moment #3. A women with her 2ish year old daughter was being escorted by 4 paramedics & two disney security. I don’t know what happened to the little girl but she didn’t look good. On a positive note, on that trip my dad & I decided to try & find the stairs that lead directly to the BW- we found them! And they’re close to our room too!

Well that was really it for today. It was an unusual day. On one happy note we went into the American Pavilion saw this:
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2813/pa010417.jpg (http://img42.imageshack.us/i/pa010417.jpg/)

Notice the Mets shirt & lack of a Phillies shirt?? :woohoo: Disney knows whats up. :rotfl: The Phillies may be in post season, but they don’t have their shirts in Epcot. ;) :lmao:

Here’s some shots I took with the dslr. I was really just playing around & testing things. The one with the stars is a 8 point cross screen filter I put on. I have a 6 point & I think that would look better, but I’m gonna try for nicer shots later this week. Enjoy though!

What great pics you got of the night time view :thumbsup2 Wonder when the scaffolding will come down tho - hoped it would have before you got the boardwalk view. Love the Mets shirt  Also I wonder how long they will have CM's at the bus stops - is this just for BWV? He was so amp'd, wasn't he? But in a good way

Wow...what a crazy day you had! I'm glad your mom helped that poor lady. And the little girl....well, that just upsets me. I hate the thought of someone getting really ill while in Disney world. I'm sure it happens a lot, but still.

I'm glad that your dad loves your resort. How cool. I ended up getting Wilderness Lodge Villas for my stay in May. I am pretty happy with that since I fell in love with the WL during my last. I figure BWV will still be there next trip....or the one after....or the one after.

Day 5 - pics will be up later today. :flower3:

I’m back again after an amazing day at wdw.

We started today right on time. We left our room this morning for Epcot at 8:15am. We used our new discovery- the stairs that lead directly to the bw. We decided to take the boat over to Epcot since we were so early. My dad loves boats, so any chance that he can get to ride on one he’ll take it!
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9151/dsc1057w.jpg (http://img9.imageshack.us/i/dsc1057w.jpg/)

We got to the IG pretty quick. The let everyone in the parks at 8:50, which was nice since we had a longer walk than those guests in the front of the park. We went straight for Soarin’, 10 minute wait so we hopped on. Next we went to test track, 10 minute wait so we hopped on. After that we went to Mission Space, 5 minute wait, so we went, less intense version of course. By that time it was 10:40am, so we headed towards the WS since we wanted to enjoy more F&W. Here’s the pics & our ratings. Side note on the ratings, don’t take my dad’s too seriously, if the portions were bigger, his ratings would have been higher.

After enjoying F&W we headed to the France bakery where my mom got a Napoleon. It was really good, but it was a zoo in there! It took us almost a half our to get through the line. Never go there a 12pm. After relaxing at a table inside while my mom enjoyed her Napoleon we headed back to the BW where my dad got a carrot cake from the bakery & I got a cookies & cream ice cream cone. Very good!

After sitting on the BW for a while we headed up to the room for a bit and my parents took a nap. While we were in the room we noticed that they were taking down the scaffolding!! I was so thrilled! They only got about a third of it down, but they should be able to get the rest of it down by the time we leave. Next we headed to HS. It was crazy busy because it was a F! night. We went & saw little mermaid. Then it was the parade, so we thought it would be perfect timing to go on the great movie ride, it was. We walked right on. Our driver was a good one. We got the mob one. I haven’t gotten the cowboy since I was a kid. I think they only do that one during busy times. Oh, well. By then it was about 3:50 so we decided to head back to the room so I could get my bag and then we were going to head to AK for eve EM. I decided that I would get off the boat at Swan & walk to our room, get my stuff and then meet my parents at the bus stop. They stayed on the boat and got off at BWV. Well, I made it from Swan/Dolphin to my room and then to the bus in 12 minutes. My parents weren’t there yet, so I sat on the bench & waited. I sat there for 20 minutes! It took them 32 minutes to get from the Swan/Dolphin to the bus stop. I knew there had to be something wrong, because when I was in our room I saw there boat was halfway to our hotel. Turns out they needed a bathroom stop and my dad let my mom lead the way in finding a bathroom. My mom is known for her lack of a sense of directions. They ended up down in the Conference Center!! They covered a lot of ground including the 1st & 2nd floor. Well they finally go to me at the bus stop. We got to AK at like 4:55, bad idea! Everyone was leaving the park as we were trying to get in. That was crazy. After we finally made it in we headed to the Safari. We saw an ok amount of animals.

Day 5, part 2

After the Safari we headed towards Asia since we wanted to try Yak & Yeti’s CS. On our walk I asked my mom if she wanted to ride EE, she hesitantly said yes, so we left my dad on a bench & went. My mom was so nervous. I was too. I had only been on once & that was almost two years ago. If you read my last TR you know I don’t do roller coasters. On my last trip I went with my brother & some friends & they got me on the ride. They also got me on Space Mtn which I also had never been on. I really am a baby. So the line said a 10 minute wait and I think that was pretty accurate. They seated us in the back, so I was a little nervous but I didn’t say anything to me mom, I didn’t want her to be more nervous. While on line I talked her through the whole ride & what to expect. I think she saw a combined 15 seconds of the ride. This is how she rode the entire time:
http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4376/dsc0016u.jpg (http://img246.imageshack.us/i/dsc0016u.jpg/)

She was hysterical. She was screaming like she was dying. It was a lot more intense than I remembered it. I don’t know if it was because we were in the back, but it was intense! When the ride ended she couldn’t get up. I got off the ride & started walking to go see the picture & when I turned to talk to her she was still trying to get out of the car. I went back to her & she was laughing/talking loudly, “I am 60 years old! What am I doing?” She had everyone cracking up. We went to pick-up our pictures, (which now they are doing buy 1 get 1 free on all the ride photos, so I got two 8x10s for $20.) and we talked to the funniest teenager. He walked up to us on line & said, “what is this?” I told him we were waiting for our pictures. Then he goes, “Oh, ok. I don’t know what it is but after I get off that ride I just want to help people.” Just how he said it, it was so unexpected, out of the blue & I so knew what he meant after just having gotten off the ride. After that we walked back to my dad & then had some dinner at the Yak & Yeti CS. I don’t recommend it. They messed up our order twice & the food was not good at all. Yuck! My mom & I got the honey chicken, my dad got the Shrimp Lo Mein & we got eggrolls as well.

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/5503/pa020449.jpg (http://img195.imageshack.us/i/pa020449.jpg/)

After dinner we headed to Dinoland. My dad & I rode Primeval Whirl. My mom was still recovering from EE & had no desire to get on another roller coaster, even if it was Primeval Whirl. Then We went on Dinosaur, which my parents forgot how intense it was so it was even more enjoyable for me. I had my dad on my left hysterical laughing through the whole ride & my mom on my right hysterical screaming the whole ride. I was laughing so hard by the end of that ride in pain. It was great! After that it was about 7:45pm so we headed to the exit, stopping to get a photopass pic in front of the lit up tree. It was really cool to see AK at night. We got to our bus with the mass exodus & actually got seats on the bus & there were still empty ones when we left. We ended up being the only ones headed to BWV. After we got back to the hotel my dad went down to the BW for some ice cream & my mom & I soaked our feet in the jacuzzi. This is probably going to be a regular thing each night. It was so nice.

Today was another hot one & the weather forecast is in the 90s again for the rest of the trip. This weather is just a little too hot for me to enjoy WDW like I’d like to. It just takes it out of you so quick. I haven’t been taking lots of pictures. It’s like I’m walking in a daze. It’s hot. We normally come the first week of Nov for my mom’s birthday, but that time was never warm enough for me, so we thought we’d try a little earlier in fall. Well, this is too early. Maybe we’ll try the mid-end of Oct, for my b-day maybe! This morning I woke up & my eye is swelled up huge! Earlier in the week I got bit by a spider or something. It got me three times on the leg, one on the cheek & on my eye lid! Well, my eye is swelled up big time! I’ll try & get a pic for you guys. The one on my leg is actually the worst. It was the size of a half dollar & looked like a marble was under my skin in the middle. It’s all made up of like red blotches. It was unbelievable. It’s started to finally go down, I got it the first night. So anyway, you won’t be seeing much of me in pics today. Also we were going to go to the Buzz parade in MK yesterday, but we decided it probably wasn’t gonna be worth it for the amount of crowds that were there. After we got to the room last night & I saw the reports on it, I was glad we didn’t waste our time & energy. Well, today we’re going to have just a relaxed day at the pool, with lunch in Epcot at Tokyo Dining. Talk to you guys soon!

Take care of yourself MissMet!! Those spider bites sounds scary:scared1:

You really had a jam packed day yesterday despite the heat! Please let your mom know that this DIS'er is very proud of her for riding EE:thumbsup2 We are taking my parents, who are 70 and 69, to WDW for Christmas. Dad loves rollercoasters and I am hoping to get him on EE:rotfl:

Can't wait to see your pictures as you do such an excellent job!

If you get a chance may you please take some pics of the BWV from the BoardWalk? I am really interested in seeing the area around the Crest o Wave area to see if they replaced the awnings on the 5th floor:confused3

Today's plan sounds wonderful! What a perfect way to spend a Saturday:thumbsup2

Sounds like you guys had a great day---excited to read your reports now that your Dad has joined up with you!

Your Mom looks hilarious on EE. My Mom will be going on it for the first time (probably) in December and I may pee myself laughing so hard---I know exactly what her reaction is going to be. :rotfl2:

I must say this, though. If you can go on EE, you can go on Splash Mountain---just trust me!! It's so much less scary than EE, you've really got to try it, you'll be so disappointed in what you have been missing all these years!

Those spider bites sound horrible! :scared: I hope the swelling goes down, maybe put some sort of cold compress on it while you're sitting around today---you never know what might help.

You still have so much of your trip left. It seems like it should already been over but you're really only less than half-way done!! :woohoo:

Can't wait to read more!!!! :hyper: :hyper:

Hi -

I am going down in a month with my two children. They love BTMRR, are ok with Space Mountain. How does EE compare to BTMRR and Space Mountain...more severe/scary or about the same. Thanks!

EE is much more intense than those two. On EE you feel the g-forces, it's in the dark for the most intense part & there's an 80 foot drop (Splash Mt. is a 50' drop). I don't plan to go on again. Twice was enough for me. I would say it is too intense, but there were lots of kids that I saw totally enjoying it & riding it again & again.

Maybe you try it first, so that you could get a feel for it. You never really know how people will like it. :confused3

Hope that helped. :thumbsup2

Day 6

Today we started a little late. We left the room at about 9:15am. We weren’t really in a hurry, since we were headed over to Epcot to do finish up over at Futureworld & have lunch. We got into Epcot & headed to Spaceship Earth. Next we went to The Seas with Nemo.
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/3259/pa030454.jpg (http://img59.imageshack.us/i/pa030454.jpg/)

After that we went to see Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I love that show. It had been a while since my mom saw it, I guess we didn’t see it last time, well she forgot about parts. She was screaming at the mice part. The lady sitting in front of her kept turning around looking at her & laughing. It was great.
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3006/pa030456.jpg (http://img98.imageshack.us/i/pa030456.jpg/)

After that we went on Figment’s ride. Every time I ride that one I really get disappointed with what they’ve done with it & how they have made Figment into an annoying little pest. I do love their little tribute to the Dream Finder at the beginning. “Dean Finder” After that we walked over to WS & then took the boat to Morocco. We’ve been taking the boat a lot in Epcot. Before this trip the last time I ever took the boat was when I was a kid, so it’s been nice. We were eating at Tokyo Dining today, our resi wasn’t until 1:30. We got to Japan at 12:30 and figured we'd try and get in early. They took us at 1pm. This was our first time eating there. It was really nice, a little loud, but nice. I would have loved to get a table by the window, but that’s alright, My mom got the Shrimp & Chicken tempura combo & my dad & I got the shrimp & scallop combination. They were good, however EVERYTHING is fried, even the veggies. It came with fried asparagus, mushroom, sweet potato & zucchini. They’re known for their sushi & they have quite an extensive menu, but none of us are fans of sushi. There are two views, one of the ws & the other of the sushi kitchen. It was really neat to watch the girls making the sushi.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8055/pa030460.jpg (http://img101.imageshack.us/i/pa030460.jpg/)

After lunch we headed back to the hotel for a relaxing pool day. We watched from our chairs as my dad went down the slide. It was hysterical. He looked liked a bag of potatoes bouncing around.
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/8030/pa030461.jpg (http://img529.imageshack.us/i/pa030461.jpg/)

After some pool time we headed to MK to see Spectro & Wishes. We got on our bus & the seats were carpeted?? I have never seen this on any other bus. Thought it was different.
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/2465/pa030463.jpg (http://img33.imageshack.us/i/pa030463.jpg/)

We had always wanted to watch from the train station. We got there at about 5:40 and went straight for the train station. We were the fourth family there, but got great seats. We were right in the middle up against the railing, with the comfy cushioned chairs. Sure beats sitting on the curb for an hour! So we sat there from 5:40 - 8:00 for spectro & then the half an hour in between for Wishes. The wait wasn’t bad went by quick. I went down Mainstreet to get some popcorn, since we were going to wait until after to eat dinner. When we had arrived at MK we noticed they had change the hours & were open until 11pm. Nice surprise. Also while waiting my dad went to the candy store to buy some fudge. Now I’ll tell anyone interested in the train station view. It is amazing for spectro but terrible for Wishes. First you have the pesky flagpole. Then I never knew this but they only turn off half the lights on main street. So Where we were was completely lit, which also brought in another problem, everyone was chatting away. You had to struggle to hear the music over everyone oblivious that there was a fireworks show going on. So do it for spectro but move closer for wishes. (dslr)

After wishes we headed to Cosmic Ray’s. It was a little crazy for 9:30pm. We all split our different way to get our food & by the time we all met up again, no one remembered pics. Really you’re not missing anything. I got a bacon cheeseburger & my parents both got the chicken & mashed potatoes. After dinner we went on TTA, I love the new lights they put in. On youtube I had seen the new lights & they were flashing on & off. It doesn’t do that. All it is is certain sections have different colored lights. No flashing or changing, just solid colored light. Really nice though. After that we decided to head back to the room ‘cause it was 10:35 & we didn’t want to be in the craziness of park closing. There were a lot of people there, lot of locals. Our bus was there waiting & my parents got the last two seats, thank God. I hate when they can’t sit. I didn’t mind standing ‘cause I still felt pretty good, probably from relaxing all afternoon by the pool.

Tomorrow we are going to have a relaxed morning, then lunch again in Epcot (Italy) then we’ll head over to MK, it’s open ‘til 12am & with this heat we’ve been finding evening EMH are really beneficial! We also have dinner at the Plaza so that will be nice. It's gonna be 92-94 degrees & sunny the rest of our trip! :scared1:

My eye is much better. The swelling went way down & is only noticeable to people who know what my eye normally looks like. However bring bug spray, ‘cause we’re all covered in mosquito bites, in addition to my three spider bites. I’ve started taking a lot more pics, but I am only posting a few. When I get home & can go through them better I’ll post a lot more. Most of the ones I’m posting are with the point-and-shoot.

Talk to you soon!

PS- the scaffolding os totally gone, but the walls are still up outside of thimbles & threads. Once those are gone I’ll be taking pics of the BW.

Cosmic Ray's is one of DH's' favorite places to eat. I think it is because it's one of the original eateries ... or at least one he can recall from his first visit as a child. Sounds like the food has gone downhill a bit:confused3

I can't' believe how hot the weather has been during your visit:confused3

The food was good at Cosmic Ray's. It's not the best burger I've ever had, but my parents loved the chicken. I just meant you weren't missing much as far as pictures of the food goes.

I know this heat is killing us, especially my mom. She doesn't handle heat well. We are headed to TL today, so that will help.

Wow.... I just read your last three updates and you are having such a great time. I can't see any of your pictures while I am at work, so I'll just have to wait until tonight.

Isn't AK amazing at night. I finally got to an AK EMH in June, but I didn't get to ride EE in the dark because I had my nephew and I thought it might scare him. We had just arrived to the world and I had no idea what his tolerance for rides was going to be. He rode it in the day light the next day, and loved it. So my mission is to ride EE at night. Your poor mom. She must have been screaming her head off in the really dark section. DH and I got front seat a couple weeks ago and it was sooooo cooooool!

I like how you are able to just pick up and walk into Epcot for lunch whenever the spirit moves you. What a fabulous place to stay!

I hope you're not getting ready to come home soon, because your real time updates are so fun to read.

Day 7

Today was a sad but yet relieving day- the ny met’s last game of the season. As I normally do for the last three season I wore my pair of Met’s socks even though I was in wdw, gotta support my team. Anyway.
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/4337/pa040465.jpg (http://img200.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040465.jpg)

Today was a relaxed day, since we had gotten back late the night before. We had lunch at Epcot today so we headed over & entered the park at about 10:45. Today living with the land was supposed to open so we decided to head over & see if it had opened. It did, but they didn’t have the FPs running & the line was horrendous!! I took a picture of the line. When we first walked in the line was all the way to the escalators by Soarin’, but by the time I took the pic it had gone down. The line was that long even with it snaked through all those rows it normally has.
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3339/pa040467.jpg (http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040467.jpg)

We decided that we would try again later in the week. Plus I’m still hoping to take the behind the seeds tour. Next we headed to the WS. We started in Mexico & rode the boat ride. Then we went on Malestrom (sp?). We continued through the WS taking pics along the way.

I look drunk!
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/131/pa040471.jpg (http://img36.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040471.jpg)

Next we hit America & heard voices of liberty followed by a family favorite of ours, The American Adventure.
http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/324/pa040473.jpg (http://img44.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040473.jpg)

We got out of the show with 5 minutes to get next door to Italy for lunch. It was perfect. We were seated right away. We had eaten in Italy many times, but not since the change over to Tutto. I enjoyed it. I usually am not a fan of Italian restaurants (gotta be homemade), especially outside of NY, but it was very good. Although, I could sit in that restaurant all day just watching the waiters walk by. Wow. Anyway. My mom & I ordered a pasta dish with sausage & it was very good. I don’t remember the name of it & all the Tutto menus online are not accurate. My dad ordered the spaghetti & meatballs, which he really enjoyed.
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3918/pa040474.jpg (http://img11.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040474.jpg)

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/581/pa040477.jpg (http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040477.jpg)

After lunch we decided to head back to Norway for another family favorite, School Bread. Oh my Gosh. If we could put the school bread in the italian restaurant, with a bw view & a dole whip- I would never leave!! :cloud9: :faint: Here’s some school bread shots.

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9351/pa040478.jpg (http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040478.jpg)

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3242/pa040480.jpg (http://img21.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040480.jpg)

After eating the school bread in 2 seconds flat, we headed to the monorail as it was evening extra magic hours at MK. It was about 3:30 & so hot we walked further than we had to just to stay in the shade. This heat has been intense. We got to the monorail station & the monorail was standing room only, so we decided to wait for the next one & just relax on the bench instead of being crammed in. We got on the next monorail to the CRAZY bust MK. It was sunday, evening emh & there was spectro & wishes! MK closed to the public at 10pm. We got to MK at about 4pm. We headed down mainstreet and over to Adventureland. We decided against the jungle cruise as it was just way too hot to be crammed in a little boat. We walked right onto POTC. That was fun & cool- I love that ride. Next we got off the ride & sat on a bench just outside of the store where we were still getting the ac & sitting. We sat there about 20 minutes then headed to BTMRR. It said there was a 20 minute wait so we figured we’d try. Well it was only about 8 minutes, so that was nice. Then we went to see my mom’s favorite, the country bear jamboree. Next we walked through fantasyland, as it was crazy busy. We stopped for Philharmagic & after I bought this adorable shirt- Donald is my favorite, with Chip & Dale a close second.

We headed for tomorrowland & sat on a bench in the shade by the teacups. We sat there about 5 minutes then decided that we’d rather be sitting on TTA, so we headed there. Next we decided to go to Carousel of Progress, since it had been a while since we saw it. After COP we decided to try & get in early at the Plaza. Our adr was for 7:15pm, we got in at about 7pm. This was our first time eating at the Plaza & we really enjoyed it. My dad had a rueben, I think, & my mom & I had cheeseburgers. My cheeseburger was a bacon, cheddar cheese. My mom’s had american cheese & grilled onions & mushrooms- so good! My dad also had a banana split.

After eating at the Plaza it was about 7:50 & we knew that once the parade started at 8pm it would be crazy. My dad’s favorite lately has been BTMRR, so we decided to high tail it over there. We made it in perfect timing & getting through the parade watchers wasn’t bad. BTMRR had quite a wait, so we got FPs & headed for HM. We got to HM as the parade was ending, so that worked out great. We walked right on without any wait & there was only 4 other people in the stretching room with us. After HM, we got two rocking chairs outside of that kitchen/smuckers/jelly store by HM. We sat there for a while. Now it was time for our BTMRR FPs, but my mom didn’t want to walk all the way back there, so she stayed behind & my dad & I went to ride again. My dad & I have this ongoing thing about the two of us riding together. My dad is a big guy. He has a huge belly, that has the look of a pregnancy belly. I’m a smaller girl, so whenever we go on BTMRR together it’s hysterical, because it’s like I don’t even have the safety bar on. You could fit like another two of me between me & the safety bar. I get sloshed around that car like water in a glass. I am also airborne for quite a bit of the ride as well. I tried to get a pic for you guys to give you an idea.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/952/pa040495.jpg (http://img62.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa040495.jpg)

After BTMRR we went back to my mom & sat a while with her, then I went & got Peter Pan FPs. We continued to Snow White’s which was only a 20 minute wait. Next we sat for a while & then made our way back to Peter Pan. After we rode Peter Pan we decided to call it a night, as it was about 11pm & we knew we had a full day at TL tomorrow. We just missed our bus & had to wait about 15 minutes for the next one, but luckily we were the first stop.

Day 8

Today we headed to TL. It had been at least 15 years since I had been to TL, so I was excited to see it. We got there with about 20 minutes until park opening, so we stood at the rope ready to get our chairs.

http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/2483/pa050498.jpg (http://img34.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa050498.jpg)

The park ended up being EMPTY, so it really didn’t matter, but we ended up with great seats in the shade right next to both the wave pool & lazy river entrances. We relaxed in our chairs for about an hour. Earlier I had gotten the fresh donuts with the chocolate dipping sauce, but forgot to take a pic. My bad. They were really good. They looked just like the ones you get at a chinese buffet. You had the choice of chocolate, white chocolate or raspberry sauce. I highly recommend them. After we relaxed for a while on the chairs we decided to go get lunch before we got wet. I got an amazing chicken wrap, my dad got a BBQ pork sandwich & my mom got the chicken nuggets. They all were really good, even my mom’s chicken nuggets.

http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/646/pa050503.jpg (http://img2.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa050503.jpg)

After lunch we headed to the lazy river. Ok so I knew I was a baby, but I really am a baby. That water was COLD! I figured out that 80 degree water on a 93 degree day does NOT feel good to me. We went around the lazy river twice, which took if I had to guess 40 minutes, none of us had watches on. While on the lazy river my mom & I witnessed the funniest thing we feel we have ever seen. Late into the night we were still crying laughing. I’ll try & describe it the best I can, but you really had to be there. First, my dad decided that he was going to sit on a single tube. He was trying all different positions to see which was the most comfortable. A few times he flipped over, which got us already laughing & in a silly mood. After about one time around he decided he wanted to do what he used to (forgetting that he has almost doubled in size since he was at TL last). He got a double raft & took it to the stairs. He got up on the stairs and sat in the front hole. He started to float out into the middle of the river. Enter the most proper, elite looking british lady floating along all prim & proper in her little hat. My dad ends up floating towards her. He decides he would like to move to the back hole of the float, so he would basically be laying on the two seated, raft like you would on a mattress. He now is even with the lady & then passes her but is right behind her. My mom & I are floating about 7 feet behind the two of them, but there is no one in between us. As he slides his bottom back, he stops for a while to try the position he’s in with his bottom on the middle- not very comfortable. All the while he is doing this very wobbly. You could start to see the inevitable. So now he is directly behind & a little to the left of this prim & proper lady. He goes to move to the back hole of the raft, not realizing with his extra weight he needs someone in the front to balance it a little. He slides his bottom to the back hole & immediately his legs are spread eagle & straight up in the air along with the front of the raft about 2 feet bellow his spread eagle legs, but still in the air. The front half of him is tipping backwards with his head & neck hanging over the raft about an 1/8 of an inch away from the water. He now holds this position, directly behind this lady, for about a minute, flailing his arms around to keep himself from completely tipping & screaming the whole time. Now the lady is facing my mom & I & has no clue what’s going on right behind her, except that she can hear my dad, she feels his splashing & is watching my mom & I crying laughing. This goes on for a minute as he is balancing himself right above the water with his legs straight up in the air spread eagle, floating down the river, thrashing & screaming the whole time. This goes on for a minute. My mom & I couldn’t breath we were laughing so hard, then to see this lady’s face looking at us uncomfortably laughing. Oh, my gosh I wish I had a video camera or the photopass guy was there. After a minute he finally gives up & goes flipping over totally soaking this lady in her hat. I thought I was going to die from laughter. It was so funny. I am crying laughing typing this the next morning. I could not understand why my dad fought so long to stay on that raft. He was already wet, but he was not going to give in. If anyone saw a man spread eagle, legs in the air, thrashing, splashing & screaming “whoa” floating down the lazy river, that was my dad. After the not-so-lazy river extravaganza, my dad & I went on crush & gusher. Wow that is an intense water slide! I don’t know if any of you have been on it & this is the norm, but we were airborne most of the time. We were shot around like a rocket. I though for sure we were gonna flip on the last big drop. Getting on was a funny moment too. To get on they lay the float, basically on the ground on a conveyer belt that is not moving. You sit on it * then when it’s your turn the belt throws you onto the slide. Well, my dad was unsure of how to get on. I got in the first hole & sat down ready to go. The next thing I feel/see is my dads legs in the air! He stood over the raft, startling it & figured he’d just drop in. Well, he fell back into it & it shot him back up. His legs went straight into the air, spread eagle again & almost flipped over out of the back. The lifeguard looked at him & was like, “Uh, are you ok?” Then we were off. Next we went on some of the other rides & then called it a day. We headed back to the resort to shower & change for dinner at the Wave. I got to tell you I really love that restaurant. It was soooo good. Everyone loved their dishes & couldn’t pick, there were so many options. We had the crab cake, which was good. I had the filet, my dad had a linguini with clams (which was spicy) & my mom had the cinnamon rubbed pork chop. Soooo good.

We decided against dessert because we were headed to DTD & wanted some Ghirardelli ice cream. After dinner we walked over to the new Bay Lake Towers to check it out. Ok I know I may offend some, but please, I mean so offense, it’s just my take for the resort. I was not a fan at all. I felt like I was in an office building my friend works at in manhattan. It was sterile & just very commercial building looking. I like the rooms, but not for when I’m at disney. If I was going on a trip to like chicago or something, I wouldn’t mind staying in those rooms, but not disney. But the main lobby & hallway was like a office building. Here’s some pics. As I was taking the last pic, it felt oddly familiar & I couldn’t place- then I realized why I had felt I had taken that picture.

After Bay Lake we took the H1N1 bus to DTD. That bus was full & half the people on it were coughing the entire trip, including the woman behind my mom who sounded like she was coughing up a lung, It was gross. Once we got to DTD we shopped a little & then got our sundaes. We all got the same one, the gold rush & it was an amazing sundae full of peanut buttery goodness!
http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/9485/pa050515.jpg (http://img207.imageshack.us/i/pa050515.jpg/)

After that we headed home. The whole bus ride we ended up hysterical laughing to the point of tears thinking of my dad on the lazy, not so lazy for him, river. We were laughing so hard the people on the bus were laughing with us & didn’t even know what we were laughing at. Then we laughed the entire walk down the long bwv hallway. We are still laughing about it. Today is HS & we eat at Chef’s de France.

Talk to you guys soon.

First---you went to MK evening EMH and didn't even try Splash?! C'mooooooooooooooooooooon!!

Second---that story about your Dad at TL is hilarious. I LOL'd when I read it. I haven't been to TL since I was in maybe 4th grade. It looks like so much fun! I remember the wave pool and the snorkeling you can do. Maybe next time we go in a warmer month than December I'll have to add it to our plan.

Third---so glad you enjoyed The Wave. I had it planned for dinner one night and considered cancelling it when I booked the Wishes Dessert Party, but the more good reviews I read the more it convinced me to keep it.

Looking forward to hearing more! :woohoo:

Somebody out there has to have a pic or video of your dad :lmao: That was the funniest story I've read in a long long time - tell your Dad thanks :thumbsup2

I have to agree with you about Bay Lake Towers (and also the CR). It is too modern for our family's taste - more like a convention hotel but I know alot of Disers love it.

Will definitely have to try eating at The Wave - food looks delicious. Altho my vote goes for the restaurant in Italy - don't you just love the waiters? ;)

I never got a chance to look at your pics last night, so I HAVE to head back over tonight for another fit of laughter.

P.S. I love the Plaza and the Wave, too! :thumbsup2

Day 9

Today we headed over to HS. It was a double F! night so we were expecting heavy crowds, but we were doing more of the shows so it really didn’t matter to us. It actually wasn’t that bad. I was surprised. We headed right for a TSM FP. It was 9:15am & the stand by was 40 minutes, we were given a FP for 11:55am. Next we headed to the backlot tour. It was going to be a real hot one again, so we wanted to get that one done before the heat of the day kicked in. We walked up perfect timing & got right in. I really love that “ride”. It was a lot better before the stunt show took out half of the backlot area. Oh, well. It’s still good. After that we headed to my HS favorite, the muppets. I love that show! The muppets are the best. After that we went to have lunch at min & bill’s dockside diner. My parents had sausage & peppers & I had a bratwurst on a pretzel roll- they came with chips. They both were excellent! Really good.

http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/8081/pa060522.jpg (http://img32.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060522.jpg)

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7198/pa060523.jpg (http://img40.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060523.jpg)

Next it was time to go back to TSM. This was our first time on this ride. We really liked it. It is adorable. Just the waiting area is great! I did the best with a score of 105,700, my dad had 57,000 & my mom had 55,900. It was a lot of fun, but doing it about 5 minutes after eating for us wasn’t the best idea. We felt a little dizzy afterwards. Nothing bad, just a little “buzz”.

http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/103/pa060525.jpg (http://img32.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060525.jpg)

Next we went to the new American Idol experience, which was also new for us. My dad is a big fan of the show so he really enjoyed that.

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1050/pa060535.jpg (http://img203.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060535.jpg)

After that we headed to Walt’s One Man’s Dream, which I love- that movie at the end never gets old. After that we sat on the bench & had some ice cream. I totally forgot to take pics but my dad got a mickey bar & my mom & I shared a Mickey ice cream sandwich. After that we went to that Animator’s little tour thing, I forgot what it is called. My parents had never been in there so I was glad we ended up going. After that we decided we were just going to head back to the room because it was soooo hot. Our boat driver was the coolest. As he pulled up to the HS dock, he started to call the ducks. Five of them came right over to him. Turns out he has trained 4 of them & is working on #5. They come right to him when he calls. He feeds them & then calls each one & they come right to him & let him pick them up. Then he holds them & hand feeds them as the guests walk by. It was sooooo cute.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2435/pa060536.jpg (http://img42.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060536.jpg)

We got back to the room & relaxed for a little bit. We had dinner at Chefs de France, so after about an hour we headed over to Epcot. I have been looking forward to this meal, as they have a really good duck dish & as you guys know, I love my duck! All three of us got the duck entree & my parents both got the cinnamon apple crepe. It was all good! We love that restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to see that Remi was still there & he was there during dinner time. It was so cute. She came right over to our table to ask my mom what her triumph was, (no wheelchair) & then Remi & the woman danced to Can’t Touch This, by MC Hammer. It was adorable. She was hysterical.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/3285/pa060546.jpg (http://img42.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pa060546.jpg)

After our great dinner we walked all the way around the WS to Norway to buy 4 Schoolbreads. My dad is going to visit some family tomorrow & we wanted them to be able to try them. After we got our 4 schoolbread we walked the rest of the way around and back to our room. After we got back to the room I went down to the gift shop in the lobby & found out that they are totally getting ride of all resort specific souvenirs & they won’t be back for 6-12 months. She said that watever was out was all they had left, so I bought a picture frame & two water bottles. The water bottles were on clearance. They were normally $12.95, but in sale for $3.95!!! I bought two, but am thinking about buying even more. I’ll have pics up soon of what I bought.

Tomorrow we will be back to just my mom & I since my dad will be visiting the family my mom & I had just left before coming here.

It was a great trip- not what we thought it would be, but still amazing. This last week ended up being 95 degrees every day with the heat index at 104 degrees. The locals said this week was worse than anytime this summer & I believe them.

I am reading away and then I get to the water park thing and I am thinking it will be one of those stories that you die laughing about but when you tell others you hear crickets after you finish like...they are still waiting for the funny part of it.....:confused3...and you said it. So who cares if I am at work, I'll read it anyway!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:So at first I am just smiling a bit. Then giggling. Then pretty soon I am laughing out loud but under control... until someone says, "What's so funny?" And I try to tell her and can barely get it out through my laughter and now we are drawing a crowd. :lmao::lmao:

Thanks for helping us get excited for our trip in December (like we need help ). Looking forward to hearing/seeing the rest!

Come back Miss Met.....

I'm anxious for you to post those BWV photos. This is my first stay there and I'm curious to see what the boardwalk looks like without all the scaffolding.
