Yet another rumor/idea to add to the mix. Mousesavers is reporting that the new code for 10/3 thru 12/25 will be available in early August. :( I don't want to wait that long...

Just to give you a word of encouragement . . . her exact words are:
"I expect new codes covering 10/3/02-Christmastime to become available by early August."
I don't think Mary has a crystal ball to know just when the codes will come out. ;) She says she expects them BY early August. That means anytime between now and then. I'm waiting on codes for later October myself, and I'm hoping they come out next week or so. ;) Hang in there! :D

I found this information on the Passporter web site from Jean their travel agent....
"New codes coming by end of this month. There are several. it will be for check ins between 10/3-12/25/02. Please don't ask us for the codes now, as we have made a commitment to Disney to not publish until the day the codes are released. New discount codes will be % off of whatever the season rate is. So the rooms will have different discounts depending on the season. 10/3-11/4 will be regular season, 11/4-12/20 will be value season and 12/21-12/25 will be holiday season with discount and 12/26-1/1/03 will be holiday season with no discounts."
CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

What's bugging me is that they won't even tell you WHEN the code is coming out? By the end of this month is vague. If I have to wait until July 31, then tell me "The new code will be avilable to book on July 31" Then I wouldn't be sitting here wondering if I somehow missed out or when the darn thing will be available!!! I completely understand them not releasing it to the general public, just tell me what date I can start calling CRO for it!

What's bugging me is that they won't even tell you WHEN the code is coming out? By the end of this month is vague. But, can you imagine the phone lines if they announced the date that they were going to be released? I'm actually glad that they don't announce it because it gives those of us who watch closely a bit of a jump on everyone else. Right?
I'm just thrilled to hear that they will be offering discounts for November!!! :bounce:

Are there a limited number of "code" rooms? You know how the airlines only have certain seats for FF miles? Or is it just a matter of availability at each resort?

yes, there are only a certain amount of rooms for the discounts. Unlike airlines though, it's not just a few.

I'm not sure I understand how these codes work and where I will get them. I assume from the above posts that they are resort room discounts. Are these discounts better than the AP rate? We just got 40% off of our Waterview at the CSR for late Agust. How would this compare?
Thanks in Advance for Helping me gt a clue.

The ap rate is usually 35%-40% off the rack rate. From what I've been told by CRO the ap rate will be the best discount out of all the codes. Other codes can be 10%, 20%, etc. The only time I've seen anything cheaper than the ap rate was a post card rate, but you have to have a PIN# to use it.
COME ON AP RATES!!!!!!
jennymouse
07-12-2002, 10:17 AM
Hmmmm, I don't think that is always true...at least recently. The last codes that were released anyone could use and were better than AP rates....my source is Mousesavers, under AP rates. DISNEY CLUB or AAA rates are 10%-20% off rack rate. Whatever they might be, I feel pretty confident that the new code rates will be larger than regular AAA or DC discounts....if not, why would they bother offering them.
TigrLvsPooh
07-12-2002, 10:24 AM
WOW! There was a code that anyone could use and it was better than the AP rate??? I must have missed that one. I visit mousesavers quite frequently. The only discounts I saw that were lower than the AP were from postcards or were florida resident rates.

(jennymouse "Hmmmm, I don't think that is always true...at least recently. The last codes that were released anyone could use and were better than AP rates....my source is Mousesavers, under AP rates. ")
If it's listed under mousesavers as an AP rate then, as I understand it, anyone CAN make the reservation with this code, but you do have to produce an annual pass in the reservation holders name at check in.
TigrLvsPooh
07-12-2002, 11:11 AM
That's correct. Anyone can book an ap rate, but you must show your ap at check-in. ;)

No, ladies, what I'm actually referring to is the fact that the last codes to come out (the ones that have expired now) were a better rate than AP rates for this same time. Although I can't quote you those code rates because the information for those expired codes is no longer listed on Mousesavers because....well, I guess because they're expired, this comment is still showing up under the section where is talks about AP rates. I copyed and pasted this for you directly from Mousesavers......
Annual Passholder rates are available for 4/21/02-9/30/02. The discount is 30% off regular rack rates at all Disney resorts (subject to availability). Value Season kicks in on 8/25/02 (7/4/02 for certain Deluxe resorts), so rack rates drop quite a bit -- and the 30% discount still applies. Approximate reported rates (rounded upward to the nearest dollar):
Then there is a list of the various resort AP rates...but then it says....
Call (407) 560-7277 for reservations and ask for Code CFQ and/or the Mickey Monitor Rate. (Note that some current codes give better than a 30% discount, so be sure to try both.) Appeared in the February 2002 Mickey Monitor - thanks to Bob R for posting on RADP and thanks to Becky P for additional info.
Now, I didn't pay that close attention to those "now expired code rates" because they weren't for my time, but I remember reading that they were better than AP rates Mousesavers and also on some posts here. If I remember correctly, the most recent postcard rates were simply the same code (that anyone can use) that was listed on Mousesavers.
I hope you ladies get whatever rates you're hoping for...be it codes or AP.;)

The fall general public codes that just expired were better than the AP rates. Mods were going for $89 (and $79 for the state codes) while AP was $108.
And for those who are anxiously waiting... hang in there! I know how I felt when I was waiting for the September codes to come out. But just keep in mind, Disney is elusive about the codes cause they dont want everyone to use them. They want as many people to pay rack rate as possible, but they put the codes out there as an added incentive. Disney doesn't have to publish codes, I am just sure glad they do!
jennymouse
07-12-2002, 12:42 PM
I'm glad they do to Dallas Lady! If codes don't come out for my time it's certainly not going to stop us from going...I've already got ressies. It will make a difference as far as where we'll be staying. If codes are good we'll be at AKL, if not we'll be at CBR. I'm dieing to stay at both, so either is fine with me. But I'd be crazy not to hope for better rates.:p

With all the talk on the Restaurant Board about the new character breakfast at Epcot, supposedly being bookable on July 28...do you think Disney would release these codes the same day? Those poor CRO CMs if this is the case. They probably won't have time for potty break or nothing.

Yes, I noticed on mousesaves.com the last few times codes were released (since 9/11 maybe) they were better rates that the AP rates. Around $10-20 less per night depending on moderate or deluxe. The last postcard I got was less than code rates OR AP. It was $119 + tax for AKL and WL but only went to 10/2 and required a pin. Can't wait till the November codes come out!!!

No need for anyone to get upset. Noone was pointing fingers. Just folks sharing information.
It is true this year that the general codes were better deals than the AP rates. Personally, I have been very disappointed with the AP rates this year.
Here's another Dis'er hoping for as generous rates as possible for check-in 12/25. :p

Which they were!:D
I have AP and when we went in June we used a code that was listed in the newspaper because it was cheaper than the AP rate I was quoted!:D
I too, am waiting for some kind of discounted rate to come out for Oct 8 - 14 ;)
Right now I have DC rate which is only 10% off at the ASMu.
I also agree that I don't want them to make publishe the date they come out!!!!!!!!:D
Then, those of us that watch the boards and call all the time will have a better chance getting the first of the discounts!:Pinkbounc

Usually AP rates are lower than the other discounts, but this is not the first year that we were able to get a lower rate with another type of discount than the AP. In 1999 we were able to get the BWI for $164/night on the Hot Summer Nights discount (I think that was the name). AP was $169/night for the same time. Not much of a difference, but it was a little lower.
We're hoping for a discount for October also. My DH wants to take me to WDW for our 30th anniversary without the kids (my 2 youngest are 12 & 14) for the first time, so we can do what we want to do. I don't know if I want to go without them.....feeling kind of guilty leaving them. I know they aren't little anymore, but still feel that way since it is Disney and they love it there.

When I called CRO last month the CM told me she suspected the new AP codes to be out in early August. So Id say its pretty much gonna happen soon :):) WOOOHOOOO!!!
As for the anybody rates being better than the AP rates I do personally know a few AP holders that were a bit upset by the higher rates (not upset that they were higher then the anybody rates) and felt that they were losing the incentives to purchase an AP. I do know a few that emailed Disney about it.
Seeing that TigrLvsPooh was told by CRO that the AP rates would be the best (over other rates) when the new codes come out I wonder if attendance beging back up or maybe complaints from AP holders possibly caused them make the AP rates better. Of course this is just me thinking out loud :)
Whatever the rates are im ready for them. WOOHOOO...I'm going through Disney Planning Withdrawl and I need a hit :):) Guess its back to checking mousavers and the other sites that post codes several times a day :):)

I too hope they come out with AP rates soon. My husband & I have a lagoon view room booked at the Grand Floridian Dec 22 though 27 at the rack rate of over 600 per night. We really don't want to pay that much. Not that it would stop us from coming of course. Afterwards we move to OKW in a 2bdrm using points through DVC til the 3rd of Jan, so we'd like to save as much $ as possible since this is a long trip for us. I have been checking mousesavers daily. Where else should I check for AP rates?

Please read this carefully, it is only my opinion/idea of when the codes will come out, and it's only because I'm such a pessimist
I could probably tell you exactly when the codes I want to use will be coming out :( It'll be while I'm stuck in Norway at my brother in law's wedding the last week of July/first week in August. How expensive do you think it will be to call CRO from Norway  By the time we get back, all the rooms will be taken, right?
Anyone have a strategy I could use to get to use the codes, even though we won't be back until August 7th/8th?
Schmeck, really not wanting to go to Norway, but I don't think hubby will let me off the hook because I need to stay home for Disney codes ;)

Schmeck, unfortunately I think you are right. I think we will see the codes available to book onJuly 28. "By the end of the month", as one travel agent said on the Passporter boards. July 28 is a Sunday, which means that Disney will be able to use Sunday travel sections to advertise, should they choose to do so.
Do you have a relative that could call for you while you are gone? Maybe see if you can switch your ressie to Dreams Unlimited and let them take care of that for you.

I have used Jean from the passporter boards to book my trips. It seems they have the codes, or word of the codes long before anyone else. They usually suppy them to mousesavers after they get their clients taken care of.
I know she gets the room for me first thing in the morning at the code rate . Maybe you can contact her and she can take over your reservation and alter when the codes come out?

Schmek,
Give a friend all the infromation they would need to book a room for you. Even a credit card number (if you trust them) including exp date to pay the deposit incase you won't be back in time to pay the deposit.
Then when you see the codes come and are able to get online email your friend and set up a time for you both to get online. Try using icq or some other instant messanger type of program with your friend. Your friend can pretend she is you and make the reservations for you. Then by being on a instant messanger program she can relay the information shes getting from CRO to you.
This is what I did with a friend when she had no phone because she had just moved into a new house. Codes for her area had come out and was wanted to get someting booked. So she emailed me and we got on icq. I said I was her and when I was given the infromation of what was available I sent her messages. I would then tell the CM that I was online with my hubby and had to wait for him to give his opinion of what was available. That way the CM didn't think I was nuts not responding right away

Boston Tigger,
There were code rates and annual pass rates out this January. We went Jan. 5-11 using annual pass rates. We stayed at the Poly and AKL.
The code rate for Poly, gv rooms was $179 and the AP rate was $174. At AKL the code rate for savannah view rooms was $189, and the AP rate was $169.
Hope this helps-
