Welcome everyone:cool1:

YAY we are off to Alaska. Watch out Bears here we come! This will be my family's first time heading to this destination and just cant wait:dance3: I will be posting info on page 1 all the time so be sure to check here often to see what we all have brought forth.

I cant wait to meet you all, I can tell already by the posters we already have this thread will ROCK!

Here's to lots of Fun :dance3::cool1::banana:

Pirate and Swan Rules Update!

OK, In the interest of fair play and WWWD (What would Walt do), I would like to propose some simple rules for the Swan and Pirate game. If there is only one swan/pirate at stake and you don't have one yet, please wait until 95 posts are in for that run, then GO NUTS WITH THE POSTS!!! No offense, Tisza, I'm glad you got on the scoreboard!:

Also, when there's more than one Swan/Pirate on the line, please don't do the multiple post thing. That's more in the spirit on the game, to get more people involved in the thread.

OK, I'm off my soapbox now. These are the rules we had on the other thread I had the game on. I hope no one is offended and we have a great time with the game.

http://www.al-cruise.com/FAQ.php
What is the best time to go on an Alaskan Cruise?
What are good side trips/land excursions for various ports?
What is the temperature on an Alaska cruise? Is it quite cold, given the glaciers and icebergs?
What will I need to wear on an Alaska cruise? Will I need to pack my winter clothes and a cold weather jacket?
What is the best pre or post cruise tour out of Vancouver?
Where is the best place to view bald eagles in Alaska?
Where is the best place to view bears on other wildlife in Alaska?
I don’t have much extra in my budget for shore excursions (and some run over $300 per person!) What are some fun yet inexpensive things to do while in port?
Is it true that not all cruise ships stop in Glacier Bay National Park? I heard that this was one of the most beautiful spots in Alaska and want to see it.
My favorite cruise line does not stop in glacier Bay. What is a good alternative destination?
What about icebergs? Aren’t they dangerous? Will we see any?

Can never get to much info.....so

1. Spend time reading the Alaska board at Cruise Critic - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

2. Read books. My top two recommendations are:

- Frommer's Alaska by Charles Wohlforth: http://www.amazon.com/Frommers-Alask...4226021&sr=8-1 This is the 2010 edition coming out in December. I prefer this to the Frommer's or Fodor's "ports of call" books.

- Alaska By Cruise Ship by Anne Vipond: http://www.amazon.com/Alaska-Cruise-...4226208&sr=1-1

SIDE NOTES AND TIPS:

1). When checking out hotels be sure to ask them to give you the US rate because when they give you a price it will be in Canadian prices. Also be sure to ask how much in taxes...in other words be sure to ask for the full price in American $$$$$

2) If you have a Disney rewards Visa use it for everything so you can get the reward $$$$. You can use the earned reward dollars for your ship excursions, merchandise, and at guest services to pay anything Disney on the ship. We use ours for everything that we would use the cash that we have for than I go online in a couple days and transfer the funds from my checking account to the card. No CC balance. But lots of reward $$$$. You will be surprised how fast it all adds up.

July 19th seems to be the less booked as far as the DIS goers go that have posted. Maybe if will be the same as for Monday and that there are al lot of openings.
Be sure to get on the phone first thing in the morning when the lines open up.

Maybe. Won't know until tomorrow. It's either July 19th or August 23rd. I know August 23rd will be cheaper, but just don't know how much. We'd prefer the 7/19 cruise, but if it's a $1000 difference, we just can't justify that. 500-600 we can live with.

Okay, Okay, make me feel bad . . . . Not:rotfl:

I tell you I'm very surprised to have gotten that room, especially with gold & platinum members booking last week. Then getting cut off twice.

I think that someone had booked it but cancelled. Since I was cut off twice, I ended up booking on line. Before I got cut off I was checking the prices on line and checked to see if 5520 & the other SPR's were available and they were not. Then after I got cut off, I went back in and "magically" 5520 was now available so I booked it on line while still on waiting onhold.

When the cast member finally answered I transferred my old booking over ending up with additional 10% off. Sweet - a fantastic birthday gift for my DH today.

Anyone get through yet? I was on two different lines and called two different numbers and got cutoff on both lines.

I got cut off once...now I am on hold...and trying online...but Mickey has been swimming across the screen for a good 20 minutes...GRRRR

What about: Aboard Disney's Wonder for an Alaskan Summer Nights Dream ??

Or maybe: The Wonder of an Alaskan Summer Nights Dream

I got online at 4:55 and got right on....but it booted me off right as I was ready to add my Visa info

Than I was on the phone...got on right away without a busy signal....left on on speaker and after 45 minutes someone answered....I picked up the phone and instead of turning the speaker off I pushed the hang up Button.:scared1::eek::scared1::eek:..OMG I yelled and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.....all of a sudden I hear...MOM YOU WOKE ME UP :lmao:

I was in panic mode. So I get back on after busy signal for 15 minutes and the recording says ....you will be on hold for 140 minutes(2 hrs 10 minutes) OMG again :rotfl2:..it was like I was not suppose to get what I wanted. So I got on line AGAIN....and booked but this time not realizing it I booked one cabin that holds only 3 instead of 4 in CAT 6. WE have 2 cabins 1 CAT 5B for 2 and CAT 11A for 3. But if a person coming with us does not come than we may cancel the Cat 11A ...so in that case we would need a CAT 5B that sleeps 4.

So I finally get on the phone with a CM...Changed the ressi to a room that will take 4 and with a sigh after 2 hrs....I'm done.

NOTE TO MYSELF: 4:30 am and me do not work well, be sure to have a lot of coffee :rotfl:

Oh I agree...first thing I did this morning when I got up was grabbed a Dew from the fridge and my phone and went to the computer :surfweb:. Not sure what is up with our internet because I am still just watching Mickey swim and other people are able to get on there no problems to check prices...Stupid computer :badpc: I would have FREAKED if I was you this morning, hanging up would have been what I did...I dropped the phone one time and I just prayed that it didn't disconnect.

I was totally surprised that I got picked up after being on hold for 1:24. The lady was very nice and apologized for the wait...I told her I was thrilled it was only that long, I was bracing for two times that.

Glad people are getting through. The beginning was sure frustrating! But keep trying and know at least for this date an hour ago, the prices were the same as when people booked on the 21st.

This cruise will encompass the whole family

Me - Laura 45

I'm hoping to book for 7/19/2011 Alaskan cruise tomorrow too.

Here's sending pixie dust for all of us
pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Telling you all- we should all sit together. Our anniversary will be #21 on the 21st. See note above.

As for thread name, what about something like:

Eagles, Salmon and Bears OH MY! or Salmon, Eagles and Bears Oh My!

Or something to that effect? Just thought the play on the Wizard of Oz was cute. Doesn't hurt that I'm an OZ fan. ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to jump in there. Just got all excited and I haven't talked on the DIS for what seems like months.

Why would YOU recognize those shirts??? That is from 2005. We cruised together in 2008. Totally different shirts that year. :rotfl:

Well DUH....Because you have shown me that picture before....geesh Tom :lmao:

Is this Robin who was supposed to sail on the 2008 cruise but abdicated (JK) to the next one? Remember me - its Laura. You started our thread and then decided to go on the one after. I got bronchitis just before that cruise. Lasted forever. I ended up being very low key.

Glad I may finally be getting to sail with you.

Tom, disrgard that comment about sailing in 2005, although I do thing JoAnn, didn't you also sail that year? I know our DD's share a birthday together.

:woohoo: Old friends and new ones!

Yup this is me....it will be great to finally sail with you also. I got to know all of you so well and continued to even after changing dates since I continued to keep your tread up for all of you. It was fun.

Here's a clue. We were wearing THESE shirts:
http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj346/ImTooExcitedToSleep/personal/dclbiggroup.jpg

Tom, you were coming on as we were getting off. In 2005, we left off the ship I think some time around 10 am. Lines were long. We were tired. Big group you got there. They all traveling too?

And no, I'm not spastic, just :yay: I get to sail with JoAnn again. We sailed in the Med in 2007. She's really great.

::yes:: Looks like we'll be cruising with many celebrations from our fellow cruisers on this trip. We'll certainly be keeping our waiters busy. Maybe I better budget for more $ for the gratuities???:rotfl:

How funny - my daughter's birthday is 7/20, our anniversary is 7/21 and MY birthday is 7/23. I tell you - we need to sit near each other so that the waiters can get in harmony and get the whole dining room singing to us. LOL

I thought about the same thing :rotfl2:but when I was booked for the July 26th trip....they were using a similar name and also have a logo for it already.

Darn! Guess we all saw the same AOL Travel ad yesterday. They had something like that. SIGH. Back to the drawing board. :confused3

Darn these boards are slow today. Taking forever to bring up comments. Maybe I should sign off for a while.

By the way, did I mention that Steve and I did this (non Disney of course) back in 2000? We were celebrating my FIL's retirement and my "retirement" also. We hit the same ports and it was about the same time come to think of it. :scratchin See the theme? :)

Anyway, we were blessed with awesome weather, no rain and while I "forgot" to book something at I believe it was skagway, it was absolutely no problem getting a local to give us a private tour. Maybe not as nice accommodations but heck, a van is a van and it was only 5 of us and we only paid about $100 bucks for a private tour. Got dropped off in plenty of time to make the ship and even shop what was open. It was an evening visit.

Ketchikan was dry and warm and I finally got my warm jacket that maybe I can use on this cruise - not too bad just about 9 years later. Paid $150 dollars. It was our first big splurge on non-essential items. (But it sure felt like an essential at the time.)

It did rain a bit on the inside passage but it was more of a drizzle and light. Nothing like the rain we got on the PC last August.

Did I mention that Alaska has WONDERFUL "CANDY" opportunities? I got my FAVORITE (still to this day) tanzanite ring here. I think we paid 1/4 of the price we would have for the same ring in the Caribbean for 1/2 the stone.

Oh and for Alaska season, Mexican jewelry shops (i.e. - Tanzanite and Diamonds International, Royal Jewelers, etc) tend to ship their best stuff to AK) so start saving up that $$ and those disappointments from your hubby and cash them in in AK. ;):lmao::rotfl2:

Feel free to friend me. Just mention that you're going to Alaska!!

Also, I created a Facebook group for our cruise!! I've made it a closed group, so that I (or whoever else I give the power to) has to approved any new members. Gotta keep out the riffraff. :rotfl: I'm not, however, going to limit this to just DISers, so if your friend or family is on the cruise and FBs, but doesn't DIS, feel free to give them this link:

Hi! I am not far from you in Merrick, NY. When the time comes, we have to discuss flights.

Absolutely! A friend of mine's DS used to live in Seattle and she (she lives in Merrick as a matter of fact) said that it is much cheaper to fly to Seattle and take a hydrofoil over to Vancouver. I'll find out more as the time gets closer. The airfare to Vancouver is really steep. Seattle for this year was about $180 round trip from JFK for the same time. Luckily we have some options.

looking at flights again and they have gone up...last week i looked at flights at around $350 from San Diego to Vancouver. Duration of flight anywhere from 4 hrs to 8 hrs.

Looking today they are 6-9 hrs...in July 2010 and are around $500+ per person:eek:

whey in the heck is it more to fly from San Diego Ca. to Seattle or Vancouver than it is from Newark N.J and the same amount of flying times :confused3

Talk about airlines being fickle. You would figure in this economy they would want to get people to fly....not make them go :scared1:

So for the 5 of us we are looking at at least $2500-$2700 to fly :rolleyes:Guess July is all that in Alaska and peak season. Same with the cruise...July is the highest amount to cruise...maybe that is why so many empty spots in July:lmao: If you look on the thread that shows how many from here have booked the other cruise dates for Alaska are full we just have a few of us on there....

So either were all idiots or we are the cream of the crop.....I vote for cream of the crop:rotfl:

Have any of you priced your flights? I know many are going to fly to Seattle...but not much difference in price for us to do that. I saw someone post that they would be charged from the Midwest...$180 to fly into Seattle....so where is my $180 flight :dance3:I want one of those.

I haven't decided if we will fly into Seattle or Vancouver yet. On one hand, it would be fun to see Seattle and then take the train into Canada. Then on the other hand, it would be nice to just get there! I guess I have a whole year to go back and forth, but in the end, it will all be a matter of what the airfare is running!

I would love to use more DVC points (we booked our entire cruise on points) and stay at either the Intrawest Vancouver or Whistler, but I just read that you can only book 4 months out if booking for fewer than 6 nights. I'm not sure if we would even get a room at only 4 months, so it looks like I am definitely going to have to have a back up.

How many more days?!:teacher::car::music::surfweb:

Thanks Tom and have put in the changes.

So how is everyone planning on getting to this place called Canada ...planes, trains automobiles....or all of them?

Besides the planes, we are also looking into Amtrack. Looked last night but from here it will take about a day and a half. Would be fun but sometimes ya just want to get there and when your done ya just want to get home.

We are thinking of doing a 6 day stay in Canada before hand and checking out the sights. Also including heading out to Whistler for a couple of days. Making it a 14 or so day vacation.

Dh is still saying that if the Dream comes out with more than just a 3-4-5-6 day cruise he may want to go there and be on that. He said that was our original plan back when. But we also agreed that if DCL did Alaska we would be on it. I vote Alaska...have been to the Caribbean and Mexico a zillion times...I am ready for something else. So unless the Dream comes out with something irresistible, than Alaska here we come. But by what the feed back is it will only be taking over the Wonders itinerary.

I know that DCL has dropped the 3 day from its itinerary for 2010. Why bring in such a beg new ship and have them do Nassau? they cant fill the Wonder as it is for this, so they have made it where kids sail free. How the heck are they expecting to fill a ship even bigger to do the same thing in addition to raising the prices to do so? I think DCL is fickle with there pricing.

We are going to fly to Seattle on Saturday because it is a lot cheaper and then my DH is talkng about renting a car and drive up to Vancouver on Sunday...but I am nervous about the price of doing that, so I am going to push to take the Amtrak up and spend time sightseeing in Canada.

When we prices amtrak we would need beds so it was more money. Plus a day and a half. But sounds like fun.

For us it is the same amount of $$$ to fly into Seattle. So mise(sp) as well just fly into Canada for the same amount and time. On page one I posted a thread that has all info Vancouver and traveling there. Everyone is checking into stuff on how to get in and cost and posting it in that thread.. Check it out.

I like that Tom...can you also put on the date and the tanning saying to see if it would fit? So we can see how it looks?

That would also work for the one that says...July 19th,2011 cruising Alaska where the Polar Bears are COOL

FE=Fish Extender

Check out the following thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639

Basically you get a holder to go over your Fish that is outside of your stateroom door and other people on the boards that sign up exchange things. Lots of it is treats for the kids, homemade items...it is just fun to have surprises back at the room each day.

This is an FE....the red thing hanging from the fish. Also known as the Fish Extender..hence FE.

They are easy to make. This one I used no sewing at all.... just fabric glue and stickers for photo booking. They are hung, and for those that want to participate we put little fun gifts in them for each other that participate. If you look closely you will see that it has some things sticking out of the names.

You can also see Toms magnets on my door :thumbsup2

I wanted to let you all know that I have been gathering port info out of Vancouver. Seems that from the Vancouver Port ; port Vancouver Ballantyne cruise terminal which the Wonder is suppose to dock at is about 30 minutes from the airport.

that is farther than I thought it would be. Will also find out about traffic to and from. I am hoping that the info I got about the 30 minutes is wrong. Long way for a cab ride. It says it is only 10 miles away however.

I have e-mailed the port to double check this and also asked about the other port and the distance that that one is from the airport. Seems that although scheduled to dock at the Ballantyne, it could be changed to the other also. It is not set into stone yet. But as of today it is out of Ballantyne.

For those of us that are heading in earlier for a few days that may want to rent cars I will also post that info as we move along. pirate:

Checked online and it is about $20 PP(Canadian) from Airport to the pier. So that is good. But may be more of course in 2011. Also the port has a shuttle service for around the same fee.

but if I know her, we'll be getting a new FE for this trip. Plus she'll make them for the other 5 (or more) cabins with us. Especially since none of them were on the last trip with us and don't have old FEs.

the ports are close to each other

Canada Place
Port Vancouver's premier Canada Place cruise ship facility is located in the city centre, near excellent hotels, shopping, dining and entertainment. Its distinctive white sail design, five-star hotel, and the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre make Canada Place an attractive start and finish to any cruise experience. Ballantyne
Ballantyne, Port Vancouver's second cruise facility, is located near the city centre and just minutes away from Canada Place.

here is another good info site...

http://www.bcpassport.com/vancouver-cruise/vancouver-cruise-info.aspx

Found this on that page....think I will do this....cant tellif it is $45 for all 6 or a piece?

Take a Limousine: Available from the airport and the Cruise ship terminal, limousines are an elegant way to begin or end your cruise. C$45 plus tax for 6 passenger limousines that holds 4 passengers and luggage. Limousines are waiting at the airport, outside both the domestic and international terminals and also at the cruise ship piers when you dock. To get a limousine from Ballantyne, use a white courtesy phone to call for a limousine. One will pick you up in less than 5 minutes.

So i just got off of the phone calling the Vancouver Terminal....I can call Canada for free if anyone ever needs me to check something out by the way.

Anyway they connected me to the person that has all the cruise info that handles where and when the ships will be arriving. The referred to her as the ship guru :lmao:

she told me that it has not been decided yet on which port terminal the DCL will be docking.

She said that Canada place is the largest terminal and docks 3 cruise ships at a time and is the most popular.

she said that Ballantyne docks the Princess and Carnival( think she said Carnival ) and a few others out of there and is a single terminal. Only one ship at a time.

She also said that it wont be finalized till April.

They have permits for the ship but not the docking location. Only permits to dock at one of the Vancouver ports.

She will also be sending me/e-mailing me other inf periodically :thumbsup2

Oh and by the way I asked her what the rate was from Canada to the all muighty US dollar and she said the $20 fee for the taxi is $17 in canadian bucks. That was her best math estimate:goodvibes

She sent me this already but it is the link that Tom and I were talking about...

Robin,

Thanks for your call this afternoon. We are just as thrilled to have Disney calling Vancouver in 2011! As mentioned, we should know by April 2010 –the latest, at what terminal the Disney Wonder will be calling. Yeah we have no lives but we love popcorn::and pirate: not to mention :santa: ...this never hurts either:drinking1 :teeth:

Ya know I would figure that since DCL has never been there that Vancouver port will want to put it at it's nicest port figuring that people will as usual bring there kids to see Mickey Mouse wave goodbye and the Disney ship. You know, how that always happens at ports.

Not to mention that the ship will highlight that port for pictures in the newspaper. And you know they will take pictures of the Wonder. Why put it in the less nicer port for that pirate: Ya wanna show the the best port off:thumbsup2 Not to mention if ya want people to come back that have never been there before and all excited as we fanatics are about Disney in general....would you not also want them to see the nicest port in their grand city!

Another side note...when checking out hotels be sure to ask them to give you the US rate because when they give you a price it will be in Canadian exchange. Also be sure to ask how much in taxes...in other words be sure to ask for the full price in american $$$$$

As for the hotels that are on page one I cant say if they are in the US dollar or canadian dollar. I copied it from one of the other threads,,,,I believe it is from the vacouver thread.

For an Alaskan cruise, would it be better to leave from Seattle or Vancouver? Why?

Both ports have their advantages (and disadvantages). Vancouver has perhaps the most spectacular setting of any city in North America (arguably even more beautiful than San Francisco’s location). Seattle is also a beautiful city set against the backdrop of snow-capped Mt. Rainier, but for people flying from American cities, Seattle’s chief advantage is that you can avoid going through customs at the airport. While Vancouver’s airport is beautiful and state-of –the-art, the lines at customs can be somewhat long. For anyone flying in from Canada, however, it would probably make more sense to fly in or out of Vancouver for the same reason – to avoid American customs at Seattle. Of course, a fairly large number of Alaska cruises travel using one-way north or southbound itineraries, so your trip will most likely include a flight in or out of Anchorage too.

here is some more info that might be helpful...

What are good side trips/land excursions for various ports?

Alaskan cruises usually offer a large variety of side trips/ land excursions. For example, in Ketchikan, a great shore excursion is the float plane trip to Misty Fjords National Monument, which is simply breathtaking. In Juneau, an excellent choice is the helicopter dog sled tour, which gives you an amazing aerial tour of glaciers, followed by a real Alaskan dog sled ride atop one of the glaciers. In Sitka, a really interesting underwater tour on Alaska’s only semi-submersible ship is offered by Sealife Discovery Tours. Finally, in Skagway, a trip on the White Pass Railroad into Canada’s Yukon Territory is a no-miss, with truly beautiful scenery along a track that dates back to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Of course, these are just some of the available options and a wonderful array of excursions is available in every Alaskan port.

What is the best pre or post cruise tour out of Vancouver?

One of the most popular inland tours from Vancouver is the Canadian Rockies tour, including stops at the amazing Lake Louise and Banff National Park. If any landscape in North America rivals that of Alaska, it is the landscape of the Canadian Rockies. The beautiful color of the lakes there defies description, and the peaks are about the most picturesque of anywhere outside of the Alps.

Where is the best place to view bald eagles in Alaska?

One of the things that you may be surprised is how many bald eagles you’ll see throughout the entire cruise route. You can literally spot them in most any port. But the very best place to spot large numbers of bald eagles is out of Skagway, on the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve rafting trip. Here you can see the eagles in their pristine natural environment, feeding in the clear river waters, perched in trees, or soaring high above. They are a truly majestic sight you will never forget.

Where is the best place to view bears on other wildlife in Alaska?

Again, bears and other wildlife are amazingly abundant along the Alaska cruise route. You are bound to see a black or brown (grizzly) bear feeding of salmon or other fish in a stream on any of a number of port excursions. The best place to spot Dall sheep is actually along the route between the airport in Anchorage and the port of Seward (or Whittier). Watch for them on the slopes that rise up on the opposite side of the road from the Turnagain Arm inlet. The long, narrow Turnagain Arm is also a great place to spot beluga whales, so look for them as your bus or train heads along the side of this inlet.

I don’t have much extra in my budget for shore excursions (and some run over $300 per person!) What are some fun yet inexpensive things to do while in port?

You don’t have to spend much at all to have a great time in each port. In Ketchikan, you can visit the stores along Creek Street for free, and you can stop by the Totem Heritage Center, which is about 15 minute walk from the docks. Admission is only $1 as of this writing. In Juneau, for about $10, you can catch a round trip bus trip to the visitor center at the base of the Mendenhall Glacier, where you can hike, view bears, and see the massive glacier up close. Then, in Skagway, stop by any of the many wonderful historical buildings in town, all just minutes from the dock. The Klondike Gold Rush history in this town is fascinating, and there is plenty to see and do on foot in the small but quaint town.

Is it true that not all cruise ships stop in Glacier Bay National Park? I heard that this was one of the most beautiful spots in Alaska and want to see it.

Yes, it is true that the U.S. Park Service has limited large cruise ship traffic in the park’s waters to two a day. This has led many cruise lines to seek alternate locations for glacier viewing along the Inside Passage, including Tracy Arm and Misty Fjords National Monument. Princess and Norwegian currently have the most ships allowed to enter the park, so if you really want to see Glacier Bay, then check out the itineraries for these two cruise lines.

My favorite cruise line does not stop in glacier Bay. What is a good alternative destination?

The two most popular alternatives to Glacier Bay National Park are Tracy Arm and Misty Fjords. Both of them are amazingly beautiful and you will not be disappointed if your ship stops in either of those places.

What about icebergs? Aren’t they dangerous? Will we see any?

Indeed, you will see many, many icebergs in the narrow fjords, as huge chunks of ice break off or “calve” from the glaciers. However, thanks to modern sonar and excellent piloting skills, the ships navigate safely through these icy waters. The ships go very slowly through the icy sections of the fjords, and it is actually quite safe.

Eagles and Salmon and Bears. Oh my.

I thought about the same thing :rotfl2:but when I was booked for the July 26th trip....they were using a similar name and also have a logo for it already.

Mute point but it was bugging me, I was trying to remember what the name of ad caption was, it was on FB and it went:

Whales, Glaciers and Bears.

Thanks to Tom because I found it on your site. The ad was on the right hand side. Now, my spastic brain can rest. :rotfl:

Good Morning & welcome aboard to all who have joined us since Monday the 28th. I guess I haven't posted since then & we're already up to 12 pages.:rotfl:

Tom, the logo looks great!:thumbsup2 Hope you'll feel better soon.

Are we adopting the "Tan" name for our cruise or are we going to take a vote/poll on what everyone would like for our cruise name?

I'm leaving for WDW on Tuesday the 6th. In case you do a vote while I'm gone these are my favorite names for cruise in order:

1. The Wonder of an Alaskan Midsummer Nights Dream (The bear snoozing?)
2. Eagles and Salmon and Bears. Oh my.

Second draft.

Liked the first one better. Hows about putting that info on the inside at the bottom of the circle. Like at the top to the left the date in a turn kinda thing and the Alaska ports at the inside bottom...

I kinda liked the 2nd draft, but it's too vertical to go on a signature. Third draft looks ok, but the writing gets too small when shrunk down for a signature.

I need to go wider, rather than taller. I'll work on it tonight.

Good morning everyone. "I'm so excited I can hardly sleep". Doing :laundy: & packing for our upcoming trip to WDW. Every few years I do a Mother - Son only trip. We have 3 sons. Twins will be 17 on Oct. 8th and other son is almost 16. This Tuesday I'll be taking 1 of the twins to WDW for his birthday. We'll be there 12 days the longest trip ever when it's just been the two of us.:scared1: At home he can be argumentative so I'm hoping with the change of venue & the fact that's "It's the Happiest Place On Earth", we'll get along & have a good time together.:confused3 DS is very excited to go so I look at that as a good sign.:thumbsup2

Sure wish I was going to WDW....that is great to do the mom son trip :thumbsup2 I have done that also. But we live less than a 90 minute drive to DL
much easier for us. But IMO DL is great but it is not WDW.....

I always love when we go as a family but DH and DS go back to the room early like at 10:00pm and my younger son who is 12 at the moment, we always go together into Epcot and eat and close down the joint. We are DVC members and we like to stay at the BCV so it is a 10 minute walk to and from Epcot.

We were planning on going on the Dream and to WDW but than Alaska came up so Alaska it is....of course unless the Dream's itinerary is sooooo awesome that we cant pass it up...or we just do both:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Have a great trip with your son....that is so cool the 2 of you:woohoo::woohoo:

On our last cruise to get people to join in we had a game as follows:

Pirates and Swans:

Pirate postings - on the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each post ending in 00 got a pirate pirate: (and later we added each post ending in 99 got an Elizabeth Swan:bride:). We even gave prizes away at the onboard DIS meet. I will volunteer to be Pirate Master . We'll have a small prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.

Anyone can play along just let me know and I will keep a running total. It is a fun game and alot of people joined in.

Good morning!

I found the Pan Pacific in the 2010 Entertainment Book in the "call hotel directly" section. Depending on availability, rooms can be 50% off rack rate or 10% off discounts available to the public. I am hoping they keep the hotel in the 2011 book! This might be worth keeping an eye on!

Can you keep an eye on that for us? I will also be doing some scooping for hotels and posting them more on page one. One of the hotels, cant remember the name but believe I have it already posted on page one....is not cheap but one of the only so far that I have found that sleeps up to six, 5 comfortably. The price in American $$$ after taxs and charges is like $360 a night.

It is good for us families of 5 that are planning on staying in Canada a few days or more before hand because it is a suit with complete kitchen and supplies with a Safeway right next door. This is what we will be looking into further.

As mentioned we want to stay in Canada around 6-7 days extra and having a full kitchen will help save on money eating out. Can you just imagine eating out 3 meals a day with a family of 5 and ALL BOYS, except me. UGH:eek: They can eat also...so this is our best bet.

Besides DH is a great DH when it comes to helping cook and everything so I want be doing it alone. The boys love to cook also.

I just cant wait till we get there.....UMMMMM how many more days....:lmao:

There is probably an easier way, but here is what I finally did that worked:

First I copied it off this thread and pasted it into a word document.

I saved the document as a webpage, which put it into my picasa photo editing.

Next I went to photobucket and loaded it into my pictures there.

Then I resized it to the preset setting "small".

Finally I went to profile signature and placed it there in my user CP.

I did not know what I was doing and just had to keep playing around. It took me a long time but it finally worked! :) Maybe someone has an easier way to go about it. Good luck!

Great picture Tom....and hope you had a great time at your party. I am a Daughters of the American Revolution(DAR) I would love to do something like that. We also go back as far as the Mayflower and the Next ship a year later to arrive...The Journey.

My roots here go back to the 2 ships. I even have a journal of the trip from my relatives locked in a safe deposit box and the Coat of Arms all the way from then till know. Pictures of way back also. They are fun to look at.

Germany on my Dads side. My GF came over through Elis Island when he was young with my Grandparents.

anyway, i was wondering where the heck ya been:rotfl:

By the way everyone, are we naming the tread the same as what is on our Logo? If so than I will change it.

Tom is there anyway to fit Cruising Alaska on there? or will that just destroy it? By the way your son is growing like a weed.....he is getting sooooo tall. How old is he now?

He'll be 6 on the 15th!!

How about instead of Cruising Alaska. I change "Disney Wonder" to "Crusing the Wonder". Also, by taking "Disney" off of the logo, we should avoid any issues if someone wants to have it professionally printed on something.

that sounds good.....Cause I wanted to get it on a Mug :thumbsup2 We can keep both and I can post them on page 1 and everyone can pick the one they want. If they decide they want to get a T-shirt or Mug or something the one w/o disney on it can be used. Tom can you make them the smaller size also:thumbsup2

What does everyone else think?
