I haven't been paying attention/or playing this game in awhile. The stakes were pretty high with posts 1999 & 2000. It wasn't just 1 pirate: or :bride:; it wasn't just 2 pirate: or :bride: but it was 3 pirate: or :bride:. Well worth paying attention for. Didn't really think I'd actually snag one. But I guess I'm back in the games. ;)

Hi All,
Sharon, Right back at ya... I have set so darn many folks up for these things that when it got that close I just couldn't stand it. The chat on Facebook was fun but I had a couple issues with the connection to the site, I think.
I just spent the better part of an hour reading a trip report from the May 24th sailing. It was interesting and has actually inspired me to do one of my own. I just need to sort out the photo thing so that I will be able to add them to the posts (1,000 words right?).
I am sorry to hear that Robin doesn't have her card yet. I am wondering what special sign from above the powers that be are waiting for before the finally send that sucker off...
I am starting to pull some things together clothing wise for the trip. I got a different gown for formal night and got a stunning blouse that I may wear either for semi formal or for Palo. I do need to get my satin heels dyed as they are a silver/white satin but have a stain on them which I am thinking will be covered if I make them black.
The graduation cakes for my friends daughters turned out really well and I will post a picture as soon as I can do that. Oh and speaking of pictures...
I have a HUGE frustration right now. I had an external hard drive get corrupted and I had to use a special recovery program to get my data off of it in order to reformat it. Unfortunately, in doing that I wound up breaking the connection between the computer and the hard drive which means that the photos which are remotely stored and only referenced on the computer are now not accessible by the computer. How sucky is that? So I have about 10,000 pictures (seriously) which I am going to have to transfer back to my computer and then re-save to the harddrive. I am sooooo not looking forward to that task. But, with the trip coming up I think I had better get a start on it or it will get worse before it gets better.
I hope more folks are able to chat on FB next time. And that it will work better for all concerned.
Well, it is time for my nightly troll through the boards to see what I can learn about.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

I don't know about that. Maybe it looks that way right now, but I think we're one of the first to leave on vacation & I highly doubt I'll even be thinking of any games once we fly out. We're flying out 10 days before the cruise & that will give plenty of time for lots more posts.
This was the first night in about a month when I"ve had enough time to really peruse the boards. I think I'm suffering from information overload. Hopefully I haven't created an insomnia episode. If you see any good info out there please give us a heads up. Good night.

Forgot about the chat...had so many kids at my house...graduations...and so much stupid more that did not even think about it. Sorry :hug:
My ingoing sophomore....Michael...decided to go out again for Football....JV not Varsity....it is such a bitter sweet thing for me...football is so good for him yet not for his head....
He also loves boxing and also does that...funny how it's 2things I swore I would never let my kids do...including watching the power rangers and Tom an Jerry... Than I had kids and said to myself...ahhhhhh know I get it....funny how before we have kids we say....My kids will never do that or act like that ...than we have kids and we see things in a little different light.:flower3:
Would be nice if Michaelt would pick a sport he loves that does not involve his head....I mean is that to much for a mom to ask:lmao:

Good for Michael having a focus & going out for football. I know it's hard as a mom to see your baby get tackled, but I bet your family will have some enjoyment in it too. I also bet that you'll have proud moments as well. :thumbsup2

Hi All!
I also am pleased to not only welcome Larissa and her family but to enthusiastically include them all in the FE Gifting (boy, sometimes it really does pay off to be the overplanning sort :-).
As for the question about how FE's work, bear in mind that this is the first time that I will be participating but here is what I understand (I am sure anyone will correct me if I am wrong :-). After finding and joining your meet thread and signing up to participate in the FE your cabin number, names, ages and gender are all added to the list of participants. If you or anyone in your group is celebrating anything special please include that info as well.
Then, peruse the list of the other folks playing along and come up with something to gift others with. As far as the what to give part is concerned, there don't appear to be any rules about what is right to give nor about minimum or maximum value. Then, depending upon the consensus of the other group participants you will either deliver your goodies to the other folks on a schedule or when the mood strikes you. Currently, our group is in the process of making the decision about scheduled delivery times versus random whatever works for you times. Stay tuned for the outcome.
Oh, I almost forgot an important part of the process, the FE (or Fish Extender) itself. A search here in the archives will give you ideas for what has been given in the past, what to give now. You will also be able to find simple instructions for how to construct your very own FE.
Then, sit back and enjoy getting the goodies from your fellow DISboard Cruisers and giving them as well.
I hope that helped.
Robin - Any word? I am keeping the faith...
I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open so I had better wring off for today.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

I think it also has to do with not having my PP yet...kinda takes some energy out of my game plan...you know as if it is not yet a for sure think...even though I am sure it will eventually get here.
I think I'll go to Michaels arts and crafts today to get the stuff needed to change my FE...also finalize my plans in Canada for stuff were going to do. Like in Whistler....can't decide what we ant to do....for sure white water rafting and instead of doing the regular zip line like we have done before they also have one with this real cool obstical course ....him that spelling does not look right...well anyway...have a great day and check back later :goodvibes

Oh! If you are going to be in Vancouver you might like to check out the Museum of Vancouver (http://www.museumofvancouver.ca/) or the Maritime Museum (to go with the whole nautical theme...). The former is bigger and you feel more immersed in the time, so to speak. The latter is quite small and cute.
The Burnaby Village Museum is not in Vancouver, but has a lot of old houses, stores, etc from the area as well as a beautiful, lovingly restored antique carousal that you can ride. There is a restored train too, I think(http://www.burnabyvillagemuseum.ca/). It is their 40th anniversary this year and I think admission might be free through to October, so that might be worth the distance. Being a "village" so to speak there is a bit of outdoor walking, so if it is raining you may want to wear boots and bring an umbrella.
I've been to all three museums and like them all. Another thing that might be interesting to look at would be the Capilino Suspension bridge if you are not afraid of heights. And don't miss the fabulous Sea Wall!

Hi All!
Well, Robin if all of your good news doesn't deserve a rousing Disney Cheer I don't know what does so...
All Together Now... "Yeah Mickey, Yeah Mickey, Yeah MICKEY MOUSE CLUB!"party::jumping1:
I don't think the mail has come for us yet today or if it did I didn't have anything in it yet but I am keeping my eyes peeled.
And speaking of Alaska... My Darling DH (because I really think the "D" stands for Disney...) finally found our long missing Alaska by Cruise Ship Tour book which I purchased ages ago. I thought it would give me an opportunity to get a jump on researching excursion options including costs. And, it would have, had I been able to look at it at any time prior to making most of our decisions. :lmao: On the up side, it does have some terrific suggestions for things to do that aren't quite beaten path items and are for the most part cheap or free. I will post a list including any contact information as soon as I can pull one together.
I also need to make a fairly substantial investment in ink for my printer because I am starting to gear up to make magnets and since I will be making sets for all the doors in my group, that is going to be quite a bit of ink and paper.
I am also going to print out a set of Navigators to start to get an idea of what we might want to do on the ship and when it might be occurring. I know that they can throw us a curve ball with the schedule but I think that if I at least have an idea of what I might want to do it will be helpful. And, hey if I am not obsessively planning each and every living, loving minute beforehand whatever would I be doing with myself for the next 39 days, right?
Oh, regarding our cruise meetup, are we going to do a white elephant gift exchange? Are we planning to wear anything to make ourselves easier to identify? Perhaps a green ribbon pinned to our shirts? Are we going to be able to hit the spa raffle for those of us who like to try to win things? It is a must be present to win thing and a free massage would rock my world.
On a different topic, are any of the folks in this meet thread pin traders? Any Jiminy Cricket fans? I still have bunches of stuff left over from when I worked for the company (I helped in the very early design phases for some of the Environmentality cast member award pins). If there are, I will happily bring some extra items along to share/swap if anyone is interested. PM me to let me know or pop a comment here in the thread, either one works for me.
Again, Robin I am TOTALLY THRILLED for all your good news!
Ahh, well my webinar is about to begin so I will write off for now.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Don't forget the only thing you'll really use from the packet is your luggage tags, everything else can be done online and even then there's only 1 or 2 sheets you need to print.

Like shop...clean.....FE...magnets....and so much more....still have to make ressies for stuff in whistler...have hotels all booked just not what we are going to do...like white water rafting and stuff. Iwill get it done however....just want to get off my butt and do it.

Hi All!
Our docs arrived today! Now I feel even more excited about the trip (if that is possible) and having the booklet in my hand makes everything seem more "real" somehow.
I am planning to spend some time working on door magnets tonight. I seem to be ping-ponging between cruise related activities. One minute I am working on FE goodies, another and I am nose deep into yet another book about things to do and where to do them. I appear to be vying for the ADD Poster Child title of late.
Earlier today I went with some friends to see what we could find at Tuesday Morning (a sort of high end retail outlet store). This weekend they are doing their extra 50% off of the lowest marked clearance price. Currently they have some adorable disney plates, cups, etc. Really nice, high end stuff and the prices are really remarkable. I found some Disney holiday dinner plates or $1.50 each. They will work great this upcoming Christmas when I give out candy.
I hope everyone had a great Saturday and will enjoy a relaxing Sunday.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Robin,
Is the list of passengers on the first page current??
I think it is....I have been keeping up with it but the best person to ask is Kim(Schachteles) she is the one in charge of the FE...
Kim can you paste your FE list here so Tom and I can double check our lists?
The only one I don't have on there yet is Larissa...she is 17 ,Kayojo 78 and Tori 12. Have notadded them yet because have to do it on my computer it's easier that with the ipad
Tom do you ask because I have something different than you on your spread sheet?

I went through your list last night and went through the last few months of this thread. I added another tab to my FE spreadsheet with everyone on it.
Lots of missing information, but it's a start.

Tom do you ask because I have something different than you on your spread sheet?
There are a few people missing and Laura & Steve went on a different cruise.
Hi everyone! Sitting at MCO just off the Dream- sure does help the pain when you know your next cruise is close!
The Dream was gorgeous but we stayed lost for most of it. Not easy to get from one place to the next! Looking forward to the Wonder and knowing our way around!
We had 30 FE families and everyone just delivered whenever. It worked out great- deliveries were spread out through the cruise. For those that have never done FEs, it's so much fun to come back to your stateroom and find a surprise! Sometimes it was candy, sometimes more elaborate. But all of it equally fun to find! Also most familes did two or more days so we REALLY got a lot of gifts!
Hope our docs are waiting for us when we get hone tonight!

Happy Sunday!!
A few things...
Please check this spreadsheet to make everything is correct (whether your on the FE list or not).
OUR CRUISE MANIFEST (https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvuRr5ljys3DdG9SODdxa2NnWHV0eXgyNWRzcGk0V 2c&hl=en_US&authkey=CLiWnboD)
I just ordered some (not quite) lime green lanyards for everyone so that we won't get lost. I ordered more than is on the above list....just in case. I can hand those out at our meet.
Speaking of our meet.....any opinions on when and where that should be??
I kinda got side tracked with my WDW trip....so back to the FE making I go.
Have a great rest of your day.

I suppose I could add to my information for the FE list that both my sister and I are graduating this year (she is finishing at one school and heading to the next). That is not the reason for the cruise but it is something we will be celebrating! :goodvibes

The Aulani print was a freebie for watching the DVC webcast wtih Samantha Brown. If you registered for it and watched it online, they sent you a lithograph.

Why are some of you getting the Aulani print?
The print is a gift from Disney Vacation Club for watching the webcast online for the newest DVC resort Aulani in Hawaii with Samantha Brown hosting.
It's totally seperate from the cruise & it does seem ironic that the print seems to be coming the same day as the cruise docs from our particular cruise.

Oh. Gotcha.....
Well I got something done today...I finally ordered. My trip insurance....I never travel without it and with Michael in football practice already better safe than sorry...you know how that goes...if we don't get it something will happen but if we do it won't....
It's worth the $250 bucks for a $10,000 policy to cover what can't be cancelled...I did not cover the cruise that we used points for because point ins covers not much of anything....and regular trip ins will not cover points....sooooooo that will be a loss.
So tomorrow I will take my other son for senior registration for his classes than head over to help my BFF who is a teacher move her classroom than head to Michaels to shop....
Have a great blessed day :thumbsup2

Well I wouldn't wear a Boston jersey any time of year in Vancouver! However, on most days you won't get much more than light teasing.
The riots were, for the most part, not something Canucks fans took part in. All my friends that were hockey fans and were there did not take part in the violence. Facebook and twitter were ablaze with calls for people to come home, calm down, and grow up. Some idiots knew about the 1994 Stanley Cup riots and were excited to recreate them. They weren't, generally speaking, fans. They were hooligans.
Trust me, you guys would not have wanted to be down there last night, but either would have I! However, you will be totaly safe when you come up to Canada. The police and fire deparment have taken control of the situation. Please do not let the actions of a few irresponsible jerks ruin your perception of Vancouver! It is a beautiful city and what happened last night is not representative of the general population that is normally very kind and welcoming. What happened last night was a very extreme, rare, and ridiculous situation! Just look at the Olympics last year, that was a great time!

It is time to get a little more serious about this trip. Less than a month now...
On the subject of outerwear, etc., I'm really hoping that the weather will be summerlike (at least in the 60's during most days). I'll bring a pair or two of jeans, but I'm hoping to wear shorts most of the time, but I'll also bring a sweatshirt a light raincoat and possibly a fleece jacket. I figure if the weather is significantly worse, I can always buy something onboard or in one of the ports.
On another subject, has anyone had any success requesting a server from a previous cruise? We were on the Wonder last summer, and I understand about 75% of the crew stayed with the Wonder. My TA says it can't be done, which I think is wrong. I would think the dining assignments will start happening in a week or so, so I was thinking of either calling or writing (either thru snail mail at the Guest Communications address on the website or directly online with the 'Contact Us' link). Of course, I could just wait until embarkation day and go down to Wavebands, but I'd rather get it done right in the first place, if possible. If you've had success with this, I'd be interested to know how you got it done.
In the meantime, about 3 1/2 weeks of work to go...

They do accept request for specific servers so just give them a call. However, I also recommend you ask at Wavebands if your request was met. We had made a request on a previous cruise that was not granted so we assumed the server was no longer on board, until we saw her at the breakfast buffet on the last day. We mentioned this to our head server and he said we should have checked at Wavebands upon boarding.

It is time to get a little more serious about this trip. Less than a month now...
In April last year we had a server on the Wonder we really liked. We were doing B2B cruise on the Wonder also in October so I called DCL & had our request for this server added to our reservation. After boarding in October, during our lunch he saw me & came over & asked if I remembered him! Now mind you my first time on the Wonder had been on a 3 day cruise 6 months before and he's asking me If I remember him? How in the world after all the people he's seen in the previous 6 months would he remember me? Disney & cast members never cease to amaze me. Anyway I told him that I had requested him but didn't know if my request was granted. He looked at my dining rotation ticket & table # & said it was his. Great way to start the cruise. Both he & the head waiter were so attentive to our table that week that we all felt like we were sailing concierge at dinner time. I have asked again for him as our server for the Alaskan cruise, but when I do the math that date might be during his timeoff leave. :goodvibes

We requested a server from the past too...my girls would be SO surprised to see her again, so I hope that it works out. I cannot even believe that we are less than a month till we leave, too much to do and life has just been too busy. Some how it will all come together! We leave in 27 days!!

Only 19 days for us & I still haven't pulled the luggage out yet.
This week we're preparing for one of our twin 18yo sons to leave the nest/fly the coup/bye bye gone. :sad1: This Sunday on the 26th he will be picked up @ our home by a Marines staff sgt, driven up to Denver where they will check him in. On Monday he flys to California for a 3 month Marines Boot Camp @ Camp Pendleton. He leaves as my little boy but will come back (albeit briefly) as a man who finally knows how to clean a toilet. :thumbsup2

Oh believe me I tried but that is one job that he just doesn't get from my training. I guess he is going to need someone in his face yelling at him & down on the floor in the you know what before he really gets it.
Now he's been doing his own laundry since he was 13 so I've been able to teach him some things over the years.

This is Jeremy, the one who we didn't know if he was going to actually graduate till 48 hrs before graduation ceremonies. The one who never volunteers for housework when I ask, my ultimate couch potato that I love very dearly.
That is so great that he is enlisting, he sure will come back a different man!! Good luck saying goodbye!
You are so right Kim that he's going to come back a different man. It's great that he'll finally have focus & goals & I'll be so proud of him. Saying goodbye just doesn't seem real right now, but I know come Sunday it's going to hit me like a ton of bricks. We've also been told that when they come to pick him up we must have already said our goodbyes. So it's they knock on the door & boom he's gone. I think it's going to leave a sinking feeling it the pit of my stomach.
I guess it's kind of a blessing that I have this wonderful trip in the planning to somewhat divert my attention. Just think, Allen & I & all of you will be floating on a magnificent ship seeing some of the best sights we've ever seen, doing very enjoyable things, having fun, while Jeremy will be struggling, grunting, working his butt off, & be made to cry by his sargeant. Paybacks are Hell sometimes. :lmao: But seriously I do think it will be good for him & exactly what he needs & in return I will be doing alot of praying :grouphug: because I know it's only by God's grace & mercy that he's going to make it through!

If you used a TA to book your reservation then that TA will need to contact DCL to add your request for a specific server. pixiedust: Here's to hoping your request is granted!
From the DCL website:
WaveBands, located on Deck 3, Forward in the Route 66 area on the Disney Wonder, is a stylish club that resembles the interior of a transistor radio. During the day, WaveBands provides entertainment and fun interactive activities for the entire family. At night, the club caters to adults only, offering dancing, games, karaoke and 2 full bars serving mixed drinks.

Hi All!
Boy, do I have a lot to catch up on... I missed the thirty day dance, I missed most of the requesting a favored server discussion, but most of all I missed yet another Pirate or Elizabeth Swan... curses, foiled again!
Sharon: Congrats on your son making such a brave and grown up decision. I am very proud of and grateful to every person who decides to join our Armed Forces and serve our country. :worship:
When my oldest DSS enlisted in the Army his dad and I were both quaking in our boots about what his future might entail but when all was said and done, it gave him opportunities he wouldn't ever have had otherwise (good and not so good) and it truly allowed him to spread his wings and take flight (literally and figuratively :-).
As for the server question, one of my traveling companions on our Alaska cruise did the most recent PC Repo and enjoyed her serving team so much that she requested them again. She was assured by DCL that our entire group (we are all linked) would indeed enjoy their assistance on this upcoming trip as well. She is traveling concierge so perhaps that has some sway and of course, as you more seasoned DCL travelers know far better than I do, what they tell you at DCL and what happens on the ship can indeed be two very different things.
Regarding the Thirty Day Dance... whilst you were all boogieing your brains out :cool1: the DH and I were off on our 8th anniversary Bye-Bye. Our actual anniversary is tomorrow. We headed off to the Owen's Valley to explore Bodie (the State Park and Ghost Town) and to hunt down additional cemeteries to add to our forthcoming California Cemetery Guide website.
We had a lovely weekend, the weather couldn't have been better, the views of Mount McKinley and the Sierra Nevada's couldn't have been better and, because of the elevation of Bodie (8370 feet) I got to do a bit of testing of our Alaska garb. Temperatures were in the 80's in Bishop but it was 52 degrees when we arrived at Bodie at around 11 AM. It warmed up to around 60 or so but I found that I was just fine wearing my new layering clothes. Yeah!
Of course I also discovered that I will need to get new shoes before we set sail. My Target brand Skecher's Shape-Up's knock offs gave their all on this one. And, since my hiking boots are decidedly not comfy (not sure if it is because they aren't broken in enough or if it is because they aren't quite right for my weird feet but the upshot is the same), it looks like I will need to look into getting replacements.
On another front, while I was composing this opus, I stopped for a second to go pop the laundry into the dryer only to discover that our garage door was wide open and our most adventurous, youngest (just about 1 year old), and decidedly indoor (though not by his choice :-) cat was nowhere to be found. Where we live (in the shadow of Mount Baldy) there are lots of critters that love the taste of tender kitties. Coyotes, Owls, Hawks, Mountain Lions and even the extremely occasional but still very threatening Bears have all been seen prowling about our neighborhood. Not to mention the fact that we live near two blind curves which prevent drivers zooming up our street from having much, if any advance notice as to what or who they may encounter in the street. So, my heart was pretty much in my throat.
Fortunately, Jasper (the cat) actually comes when he is called (amazing, I know...) and after a relatively short amount of bellowing on the entire family's part, he came running home. With the exception of having even grubbier than usual paws, none the worse for wear. We will all have to be even more careful to make sure that he doesn't repeat this little stunt.
As for cruise planning, I am starting my packing list "Officially". As someone who can tend toward the OCD end of the spectrum where trip planning is concerned but who also has been known to, after painstakingly listing every last article, alphabetically, leave critical components home (evening gown hanging on the outside of the hall closet door before our last Disney Cruise, anyone?). I tend to live and die by my packing list.
And, since I pack for both the DH and myself, and since this cruise has additional components which I didn't have on our last cruise (FE's), there is a whole lot to remember. I am confident that you can all relate...
Truth be told, since some of the things that we will be taking with us on the cruise won't be items that we will need before we depart, I may actually start putting things into the suitcases in the next day or so.
As for those cursed Pirates and Swans... I really need to be quicker on the draw here, either that or I need to donate the ones I have garnered to so worthy soul who will be able to put them to better use than I seem to be able to do. The little dears are getting bored hanging around with the same two or three of each other and are decidedly lonely for the others that have come before and since. :rotfl: Still, the race isn't over yet and an underdog could still pull out a stunning upset... or the horse could talk.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Hi!
Consider planning to purchase the photo CD. I hear tell it is $299, but it will have all the photos that the ships photographer's take of your family (including the "Lifestyle" - on the all white background and "Holiday" pics if you schedule either shoot). Any special borders or treatments that are added to the pictures after they have been shot will not be on the photos on the CD, however you can purchase the prints which will show those special effects at half price.
You can also purchase photo credits before you sail on the DCL website (under Gifts and amenities). I don't know if you get a break by purchasing them ahead of time. Oh, and they also take photos on some excursions so those may end up in your package as well.
If you do decide to get the CD, which you don't have to purchase ahead of time, or if you are even thinking about it, then my advice is to hit every photo op that you can get to so that you get the most bang for your buck.
Oh, and be sure that you scan the photo rounders to make sure that all your pictures wind up together and nothing gets missed.
I know that three hundred dollars is quite a large chunk of change to drop for pictures, but if you were to go to a photo studio you would easily spend that or more just for the sitting and additional money for prints.
And speaking of prints... if you do purchase either the CD or any other photos from DCL be sure you get a copy of their copyright release otherwise you could run into difficulties if you want to get duplicates done by a photo lab (even Costco, drug stores and the like ask for them).
I hope that helps. I will look forward to seeing what the even more seasoned travelers in our group have to add.
Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

I guess it doesn't matter if you call your TA or DCL. I wound up calling DCL directly last night, even though I booked with a TA. They added the server name to our reservations, so we'll see what happens.
If I remember correctly, when we get the dining tickets, the server name won't be on them, just a table number...correct? So, I guess I'll still need to go to Wavebands if I want to verify that the request was granted. Also, again if I remember correctly, we don't get the dining tickets until we get in the staterooms, so we can't check with Wavebands until after we're able to get in the room.

:rotfl:That's how I felt today....like time was crunching in on me....after all we've only had about 3 years to plan this :lmao:
I wish I didn't have to Plan what to do when in Vancouver and whistler but ressis are a must when planning out your day. mostly in Whistler because what we have planned will fill up fast that week because of all the people coming up for the bike event.
I like to have a plan but also like to be spontaineous.
So what do you still have to do?

We are going to play a lot of it by ear when we are in Seattle and Vancouver. We are ready, just need to get my butt in gear with FEs. I think I have all the clothes, need to check on my husband.

Anyone going to chat tonight?
Hi! I just checked to see if anyone was on FB and heard crickets, the garden variety kind not the Jiminy kind.
I also just took a look at your schedule for the pre-cruise days. With the pace you areq going to be keeping I am afraid that once you hit the hay on the ship you won't wake up again until we are docking in Vancouver again:rotfl:.
We haven't made any plans for pre-cruise as of yet. And only sketchy ones for a few days post cruise.
If you are around on FB (or if anyone else is :-)and you fancy a chat I am up for it.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

:lmao: yes lots going on...busy stuff for the boys but also in between stuff that has us old folks sitting :thumbsup2. The Gondola up and back before hiking and tubing is a 45 minute trip....rest for the weary...eating is sitting...shows are sitting...limo is sitting...lots of sitting between events and some events like whitewater rafting is sitting...it is work on the body but sitting none the less..:lmao:
Lots of sitting also on our cruise events...the only thing that has much moving in it is the Trek on the Glacier....
However it is still a lot of not relaxing in the hotel room....we are so jazzed...jazzed jazzed jazzed :woohoo::dance3::cheer2:And none of this for 2 weeks :laundy: well not much of it anyway..will still have to do laundry on the ship but that's way easy to do.

Actually, due to fire risk, irons are not allowed in staterooms. There are irons and ironing boards in each laundry room.

Actually, due to fire risk, irons are not allowed in staterooms. There are irons and ironing boards in each laundry room.
True...I have brought my iron for ever but am very careful with it and only leave the cabin once it is totally cooled off. I iron on a towel on the floor not on the furniture.....
Many people who bring irons have been irresponsible so they have asked no irons. They are not forbidden in the respect you would think...My room Stewarts know I have one and I don't hide it. I iron everything and my boys go through clothes like crazy so if I stayed at the iron after laundry than no one would ever get a chance to use it.
If you don't have tons to iron than just use the one in the laundry room...I may not bring mine this trip because it is not like the boys will be going through clothing like when we are in the hot weather. And they are older.Another reason I have brought my iron is we always alway do a week before our cruise somewhere and in many hotels the irons don't get hot enough...
What I don't get is that they don't want irons but curling irons and flat irons are fine....go figure. And most curl their hair not in the bathroom because it is to small.

Hi All,
Just wanted to say hi, since I haven't posted recently. I have been enjoying everyone's posts. Thanks for all the great information!
Times are crazy busy, with packing and errands and last minute projects that must get done. My son is off to boy scout camp and my daughter is away visiting a friend, so I'll hopefully have time to breathe soon. Not for long though; we leave for Canada in less than 2 weeks. Looking forward to driving through Alberta and BC for a couple of weeks before the cruise!
I've been working on the FE gifts- many thanks to my DBF Tisza for all her help in getting me organized! I could not have participated in this without her... and I would have hated to miss out on the fun!
Hope everyone is doing well. I look forward to meeting you on the ship!

Sounds like an AWESOME time Tom, jealous! We are debating to go see the movie because we have two free passes, but we were thinking about just waiting and seeing it on the ship. My oldest (Camille) who is 9 is headed to Girl Scout Camp for the weekend, hopefully she will have fun, she has never camped before and the weather in Minnesota has pretty much sucked this summer, so lets just hope that it is nice out and she has fun. I have spent the last few nights working on my FE stuff. I honestly might be done this weekend or early next week, then I am move on to the packing. I can't even believe that we leave in 3 weeks from Sunday. :thumbsup2

So I finally went to Michaels arts and crafts and put together a demo of what I am making....I did get a little carried away in the money I wanted to spend but so what:lmao:.....
I just have to figure out how to transport them......I would ask your opinions on how to do that but than I'd have to shoot you :rotfl:

I still have sooooooo much to do. Have to go clothes shopping, go through the clothes I do have, make all the kids and adults FE....and so on and on and
on....oh and magnets.
I have to do all this stuff plus all the summer stuff with and for my kids....I know stop complaining and just do it:lmao:
I'm going to try and bang out the FE gifts this weekend....
If we were going to the carribian I'd be all set with clothing but Alaska and Canada well ...I need more than just a bathing suit and sun screen. I know I will need to buy lots of clothing for my boys for diner....they have crown so much.

Well I finally pulled out the luggage last night & started to put various items in them. Today errands will include getting over the counter meds to pack. I know ordinary boring stuff. Allen was wondering why I think we need to take our two largest luggage bags since there's only 2 of us going. :rotfl2: I'm thinking that we're not packing for the Caribbean where you can get by with less & less bulkier stuff. Not to mention binoculars & additional items you don't need for hot weather & less scenic places. I'm afraid that we might need more luggage.
The creativity with everyones FE pursuits sounds fascinating. We're not participating this cruise, but I'm very interested to see what everyone has done! I'm not very craft creative or computer saavy, but I would love to know how you do those magnets. :thumbsup2

Hi Robin,
Its Laura AKA eeyorelvr10 Looks like I will miss you again this year. I ended up cancelling this one because my friend and son got together and we ended up doing the inaugural cruise.
I can answer that question in regards to money if you want. We stayed overnight in a Holiday Express just down from the port and while most shops took American money, they gave change back in Canadian dollar and coin.
Most restaurants take everything as you know but one of the smaller shops would not take American We found a subway that would take paper money but not American coin. And of course they gave back Canadian coin. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience at all except for when we went to Red Robin and ordered cheese curls on our fries. Um, a bit different than what we expected but a "good" experience.
I'm sorry I'll be missing you again but someday we will sail together. LOL If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I ended up dropping off that other site for this cruise and posted there but forgot to post here that I wasn't on here anymore. At the time we went, many stores were in the process of opening and some of the excursions like the flora and fauna ones weren't all that because we were told the best times to see them was late June and July so you'll all have the best of the best.
I did Alaska on another line way back in 2000 and that was late July but it was the most amazing experience. For those that don't have a balcony, you won't need one. We had one and spent most of our time at deck 10 in the Outlook Cafe. You can spend lots of wonderful hours up there.
OH! I will tote the AMAZING, AMAZING ziplining experience we did in Skagway. By far, the best and longest zip in Alaska. They had 11 zip lines and the 3rd or 4th was the longest at 750 ft - free zipping for about 40 sec. If anyone is planning on doing this, please Tell Billy, Ken (from Atlanta) and his friends said hi! Tell him that Ken was the tall man that "bumped" his way down on the "1st" true zip line. And were the threesome that inaugurated the zip line when it opened. LOL we were behind Karl Holz and were the last ones off the lines. But we had such an amazing experience we are going as a group in Hawaii we hope.
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line as I don't usually post here anymore :( but did because I saw Robin's name on the wall. You guys are going to have fun! Enjoy it. And yes, you can see the whales from deck 10. We were lucky to see quite a few grey whales and just a couple of orcas but they shall be in full bloom for you guys.
Have fun!

Hi Robin,
She is included in the FE as part of my group "Meeskamooska". Tom has them all on the spreadsheet and you had them on the front page on the list there.
There 12 folks total in my group and the last I checked all were accounted for on the spreadsheet even though the bulk of them have never made an appearance here on the boards. So, don't worry, if you are working off of the list, as I am, you should be fine on your counts.
I do need to scan back a few pages to get the names, ages and genders of everyone in Larissa's group. I should have enough of everything to be able to add them to my list without throwing my numbers off.
Since I started making things over a year ago when I first learned about FE's and well before we had a firm idea of how many were participating (and since I was having a blast crafting myself silly) I could gift almost the entire ship and still be fine :lmao:.
As for Disney for BB, Barrett has been more of a lurker and vicarious participant since I have been doing most of the talking and she has been getting the scoop from me. Thus, she was able to stay somewhat abreast from afar.
I hope that clears things up...
Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

I am pretty sure we are going to take the Skytrain fom the aiport to downtown. I haven't figured out all the details quite yet, but I know there is a stop just two blocks from our hotel. Here is a link if you want to look into it:
http://tripplanning.translink.ca/hiwire?.a=iScheduleLookupSearch&LineName=999&LineAbbr=999
Another thing I would suggest is to look up your hotel on tripadvisor if you haven't done so yet. When people review the hotel, they often mention the transportation situation and can give you a good idea of what would work best for you. Most people that reviewed my hotel have said how convenient the skytrain is, which has me leaning toward that route.

I should have enough of everything to be able to add them to my list without throwing my numbers off
Since I started making things over a year ago when I first learned about FE's and well before we had a firm idea of how many were participating (and since I was having a blast crafting myself silly) I
could gift almost the entire ship and still be fine :lmao
As for Disney for BB, Barrett has been more of a lurker and vicarious participant since I have been doing most of the talking and she has been getting the scoop from me. Thus, she was able to stay somewhat abreast from afar.
I hope that clears things up...
Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!
Tisza
I am counting 8 in your group...under your name....is there someone in your group not under your name?
I see Total of 31adults ,18 kids on the spread sheet...am I looking at the correct spread sheet?

Hi!
I just did a sanity check on the spreadsheet and saw that they are indeed all present and accounted for. Thanks Wdhinn for helping clear this up.
I just spent an unconsionable amount of time rereading all 67 pages in the Questions for early Alaska cruisers thread. Along with reminding myself of tidbits that I have covered up in my head (because there is no way I have forgotten them, right?) I also gleaned a few new ones and managed to successfully avoid cleaning my kitchen! Yeah me!
I hope everyone is having a "Wonder"ful summer day...

Sharon I will be thinking about you the next few days and will keep you and your family in my prayers for some extra strength for your so longs with your son. How is his twin brother taking it...do they have that twin bond? And how is your DH and the rest of the family.....
Ya know we always know that this time will come as they grow up but once the time comes we realize that we are not as prepared as we thought we were....
Please tell your son from my family ....thanks for serving and if we were there we would all shake his hand.....
We don't live far from where he will be so if he needs anything I have no problem giving him my number...if he wants it I will PM it to you. We have had over the years service men that could not get home for the holidays spend diner with us...it is a program out here.....
Just let me know...:hug::hug::hug::grouphug:
Robin thanks so much for your thoughts & your prayers. I did tell Jeremy thank you on behalf of your family & he gave me a big smile. His twin is a-ok with it because they are so different & don't have that "twin thing" goin on with each other. Love the hugs thx!
Hi Sharon,
First and foremost, enjoy your dinner in Denver :thumbsup2. We will take good care of your baby here in sunny Southern California.
As for the magnets, I am making some for my group and would be happy to include you and Allen in my efforts. If you have a favorite character please let me know otherwise, I will just stick to the less specific items that feature our destination. Please let me know.
Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

We'll be leavin' in just a few minutes to drive up to Denver for dinner. We'll pick up Jeremy @ the Hotel, & have to get him back by 8:30 pm all our goodbyes said & done by then. It's hard but I'll cherish the time w/ him. Thanks for thinking of Tisza!!! :)
Thinking of you and your family today Sharon :grouphug: Please tell Jeremy "Thank You!!!" :flower3:
Wow I'm really feeling the love from you all today. Amazing! Thank you Diane, & I did tell Jeremy Thank You!! He's surprised that strangers cared enough to say so but I could tell he really appreciated it. :thumbsup2
Thanks all for your kind words. Now we're off to Denver to spend a couple hours with our little boy. When we see him again in September he will be man - a Marine.

Did you used to live in Denver?
Last night I wanted to post but I was waaaay too wiped out to boot up the laptop. Jeremy's hotel was in Downtown Denver. Boy I hate the driving & traffic in Downtown Denver. Makes me appreciate Colorado Springs alot more. We picked him up & went to Bubba Gumps Shrimp Factory - just Allen, Jeremy & me. Very enjoyable evening, reminiscing over the last 18 years, giving Jeremy some words of encourgement, & letting him know how very proud we are of him. We walked him back to the hotel, said our goodbyes, gave him our hugs, & walked away. Being the emotional person I am, I thought that I would be in tears - but I wasn't. Not sure what that means - maybe it really hasn't hit me yet. Guess I will have to wait & see.

Hi everyone....and Sharon glad you walked away with strength....I will have to keep you in mind next year when my son leaves...although he will be leaving for college not the Marines....it takes a special person to want to join the military and not be forced into it....
Living here in SanDiego many of my friends are in the military and many of their children....and they are all very proud families....
two of our Friends retired...they were very high ranking. Married also...whole family in the military...the youngest however does not want to join as of yet and wants to go to college...she can go to school anywhere for free because of her parents serving....we met them on a Disney cruise years ago and they just happened to live in Ca....
So also you are leaving a little before us..where are you staying and what is your itinerary again while in Canada?
..............
So started the FE did my demo came out great went back to Michaels and to get more of what I needed and they did not have enough of the main thing so needed to change up the main thing...UGH...never the less they will turn out nice...I am not so arts and crafty but Michaels does make it easier...
I will be packed with bunches of stuff by the end of this week....and house will be put into cleaning mode...today all will be booked and cash transferred from our vacation bank to our regular bank...yes we use a different bank to hold all vacation money So we don't spend it.
So how is everyone else...are you moving right along?

I actually might be able to finish my FE gifts tonight...then I need to get them packed up and it can be one thing off of my list. I am hoping to get the suitcases out this weekend. I spent HOURS organizing my daughters clothes and I am realizing how much they have, I commented to my husband that I could just pack them now and we still wouldn't have to do laundry for them before we leave. I can't believe that tomorrow we are in the TEENS till we leave!!!! WOW :woohoo:

Yeah we're leavin on the 9th. Flying into Seattle & spending a few days in Anacortes. Planning on doing a whale watching tour in the San juan islands. On Tues. the 12th we take the amtrak train from Seattle to Vancouver & plan to watch the Wonder sail away that day. we're staying at a B & B in downtown Vancouver for 6 nights then moving to Pan Pacific the night before the cruise.
We are planning on doing alot of the same things you are, like Capilano Bridge, stanley park & the aquarium, Grouse Mountain (not sure if you were doing this one) & Granville Island. Also want to eat at Vera's Burgers & Japadog (sp?). I thought it would be really fun if we could do one of those places together with your party but seeing your schedule we're doing several while you all are in Whistler so that might not work out.
I'm kind of excited to see Capilano Bridge because my parents took me there when I was young maybe 6 yo & my mom still has a photo of me on that bridge. I was so young I don't remember Vancouver very much at all.

We are doing Grouse mountain on Monday July 18 th....taking the free shuttle up at around 11 :00 and spending the day and heading back down around 5:05 last shuttle or a taxi back.....may head up at around 10am...depends on what time we get to bed the night before...
We are doing the Capilano bridge on Sunday but not till around 2:00 after we get back from Whistler ...plans are to catch the 2:00 shuttle and eat lunch up there than head back after a few hrs or so...than hang in the city doing stuff....not sure what day we will hit the park...we are thinking the day we fly in since if stays light till around 9:30.....
How about you?

Glad you mentioned the free shuttle...I didn't know they did that! I looked on the website and found the pick up locations, but couldn't find anything about pick up times. Were you able to find a schedule anywhere? We'll be doing Grouse Mountain either Sunday or Monday. I figure we'll wait to see the weather forecast and pick the better day. Of course it is going to be nothing but sunshine for us all the entire time, so it won't really matter, right?!:goodvibes

For Grouse mountain you need to show a ticket to the driver...you can pick them up at Canada place ticket booth....but
for bridge you can catch the free shuttle without showing a ticket...you can purchase it there.....Shuttle runs every 15 minutes from Canada place.....

Well I am glad we are not driving...but for those that are think of all the money you save in baggage fees :santa:
I am trying to keep down as many clothes as I can...will for sure have to do laundry on the ship....but at least the kids are older and not doing the carribian because when we do the kids change shirts like 5 times a day....this time can get by with 2 ......one during the day and a clean one at night...after all they are teens and God forbid if they were seen in the same shirt t night that they wore during the day :lmao:
As for Billie and I we are not out to win a fashion show so what we have will do just fine...just need a couple things to buy for us.
The new clothing for the boys can also be new clothing for school so that works out well....Michael needs new dress clothing but can also use that for his speeches at school...they need dress clothing, shoes and ties for their speeches.
We are taking $500 in Canadian money with us and when we need more we will just go to the ATM that deals with BOA and take out more.
so much to do and so little time....

I do know that I want to go to the spa for their raffle during their open house but other than that I am open.
Do we want to try to meet on the ship earlier like around 2 or 2:30 at one of the restaurants? If we did 2:30 hopefully everyone will have been able to drop stuff off in their cabins by then. On second thought, 3 might be better but I shall defer to the more seasoned cruisers in the group as this is only our second cruise ever and our first time aboard the Wonder.
Just my $0.02 worth. I am going to pop over to our facebook to see if anyone is available to chat.

Branden goes to computer programming camp next week at the collage so it will force me up at 7:00 ....yuck....it's summer and I stay up late and wake up late....during school I am in bed at 11:00 and up at 6:15.....
It is already 11:08 and I am just now having my morning coffee....just woke Michael up because he has football practice at 3:00 and needs to eat breakfast and lunch before going....he works his butt off at football for 4 hrs than goes
And helps the freshman team practice...
We have one of the top football teams in Ca and let me tell you the couches are brutal....heck in varsity they have you work out the morning og thanksgiving and other holidays....but by the time you are up to varsity you are the best...our school only keeps the best for freshman JV and varsity and weed out the rest...because we are a charter school they don't have to keep everyone that signs up..Michael plays center Linebacker....he calls the plays.
Anyway I'm just jabbering....lol....time to get off the couch and be productive...I want to finish all the FE stuff today...that is more fun than cleaning... :)

You're very welcome.
They only cost me about 50 cents each (lanyard & laminating). Not too bad.

What time is the spa open house?[/QUOTE]
Hi!
Unless things have changed, the Spa will be open from about 1 PM until 3:30 when they suspend everything for the safety drill. They offer a discount on any services that are done on embarkation day as well. Again, this is based upon viewing previous trips Navigators, but I am betting that some things will remain constant throughout the entire season.
Hope that helps! See you on the ship!
Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Hi All,
Thanks Tisza for helping clear up the confusion about us being on the FE list. Yes, we're on the list, but we're listed under Tisza as cabin 2100. I wanted the FE gift group to know that cabin 2100 is Disney4BB. :yay:
I have been an observer of this thread, but I think this is only my 7th post. Not enough to earn anything, unless there's an award for least posts. lol
Looking forward to meeting everyone. See you soon!

Hi Robin,
Sorry to be so nosy but when we left LAX to Vancouver, we hit customs upon exiting in Vancouver. Extremely easy and everyone gets shuttled down to customs. Lines may look horrendous but the officials do an amazing job and we were out of there within 10 min which included wait and being questioned.
Upon disembarkation, we spent 1 overnight and left very early the next morning. We went through customs (again into LAX) in Canada right after we put our bags to be screened. OK, let me get this straight:
Went to airport.
Waited for airline to open counters (we had a 6:30 am flight), opened counters, HAVE YOUR CUSTOMS FORMS FROM THE SHIP FILLED OUT - they are serious about this and if you lost it, they have them there but will not allow you to fill them out in line.
Put your bags in to be screened and proceed to customs. We had a 15 minute wait before they opened. But it was a breeze.
Either way, customs is really simple and not a hassle. In fact, the only time its been a hassle it seems is at LAX.
That's for early flights, if your later in the evening, the line might be a bit bigger but same procedure.
Also just to let you know, as you arrive in Canada, if you don't have reservations or booked with Disney, they do have a Disney podium where those that have transportation can easily see them (its right after the customs booths) and go right up to them. They were extremely visible. We went up to them as we didn't have reservations but the guy told us it would be cheaper to take a taxi directly to the port. And, they take credit cards. I think with Disney they quoted DH $35 pp (there were 3 of us) and a Taxi cost us $31 for all 3 of us. We missed a big taxi and got 2 big men and 1 big woman plus 3 big bags & 2 medium bags into the taxi. We used the credit card to pay and it was about a 15 min drive to the port. Very easy and painless.
Upon disembarkation, if you don't have transporatition, don't sweat it, that is also very easy, they have a line of taxis waiting. Just go to the taxi line and they have a cattle line of taxis. Also, even though the big taxis look like they will hold more than 4, THEY DO NOT. They have taken the last row out for suitcases and most of all the taxis will not hold more than 4. We tried but they really only do seat 4.
Sorry to keep hijacking your thread but if I can put anyone at ease, I like to help. Hope this helps someone. Sorry I won't be with you guys but you'll all have a blast. Enjoy!
