Hey everyone,
Just booked the Pan Pacific for $124 on Hotwire!!!!!
I think the final total was $151 with tax and fees.
If anyone wants to try to book it, it will be listed as Vancouver East 5-Star with fitness, pool, restaurant, internet, spa, and business center. It also has a 90% Customer Review. (Note that if it says 80% then it is the Sutton instead) Hope this will help some of you out.

Does anyone know if this is the same Tracy Whipple that I booked our cruise through at Dreams Unlimited? If so, does that mean she isn't my DUL travel agent any more?
Yes, It is the same Tracy. I follow her on Facebook and saw she had posted a blog about the Taste of Alaska. I guess she started her own travel agency.

You leave your luggage with them, they take it to the cruise for you - you take an elevator down to the cruise!

Sutton place is GORGEOUS and you will LOVE it.
I work in the film industry and my daughter is also an actress, and we often have to go there for wardrobe calls, picking up scripts, etc...
They put all the celebs up there - the twilight cast, etc... all stay there.

Not sure - maybe about 1pm and hope for an early check in? Just going to skytrain in -really excited to start my vacation a day early! Its going to be so nice to just get up in the morning and go there! I am going to ask for a room overlooking the DCL ship :)

We will get.there sometime in the afternoon as well. I will ask for a a port view also, I stayed up till 3 am in LA to see the Wonder come into port, it was very nice. I can't believe it was about the same price as a Best western.
Lollipop's Mom
05-05-2011, 08:15 PM
It is really rare to see that kind of a rate for the Pan Pacific!!!
DCL is the only ship in dock on Tuesdays, so that is probably why it is more empty. Also I bet lots of locals who just come in on the day of.
I bet the days where there are 3 ships docked the hotel sells out!

Hi All!
Just walked in from work and catching up on the day's posts, emails, etc.... Also was going to book hotel tonight so, I have a question regarding this very timely discovery regarding Pan Pacific.
Great find! Thanks for sharing. We are looking at Hotwire right now and finding one that matches, except it says "Downtown Vancouver West area hotel," not simply "Vancouver West."
Is that it?

I just checked and the Pan Pacific is still listed on hotwire as the 5-star... remember the you want the Downtown Vancouver West 5-star for $123ish with a 90% review rate. If it says 80% then it has changed to the Sutton. Good Luck and I'm glad that everyone has been able to save some money on their room.

Montana: check at hotel checkin, but dcl should have a desk in the lobby. I heard they will arrange for your lugge up the ship. If they don't, I know we can call the valet and they take your luggage to the ship for you. Have some cash ready for a tip! Then there is an elevator you can take down directly to the terminal. Checkout is not until noon, so we might go check in for the cruise really early, then go back to our room until 11!

White spot is a good place to eat and is a 5 min cab ride or about 20 min walk. They have kids meals that come in pirate ships with gold coins! Really fun for them. Food is good, good portions and has regular and pacific northwest cuisine. Adults can eat here for $10-25 each ranging from burger and fries to salmon and steak.

Thank you for the info on getting from the airport to the hotel. And for the info on White Spot - I was looking at the hotel places to eat - quite expensive, especially if you have little ones that don't eat a lot of food.
We'll try White Spot. I was also thinking of going to Stanley Park. I assume we can get a cab, but is there any public transportation. I heard the public transportation system in Vancouver is excellent.
We are getting excited. Hope I'm bringing enough warm clothes - I'm going with the layering theory. :)

Yah our public transportation is really good. Another neat thing to do is take the sea bus across from Canada place area (you will see sea bus signs) over to Lonsdale Quay (Pronounced key). It drops you off right at the market - its got tons of great food things and also the famous Beaver Tails that used to be in Epcot. All independent 'fast food' of many different types and cultures- you can get a burger/fries, or sushi, stir fry, chinese, pizza etc...etc...etc..
Also a good market there and a kids play place. There is a Please Mum there, which is our Canadian kids store similar to Gymboree. Tons of fresh produce, but also local handicrafts... really fun little place to go!

Hi All!
I wanted to share a few things with very sets of people, so I thought this would be the best way to do so. Hope everyone has a great day!
FE Group
So, I received a few PMs asking how many in our cabin since there has been mention of my DH, but he is not listed on the FE list. It is just the two of us. I am getting the FE gifts for everyone, finding a FE to hang outside out cabin (ahhh! worried about this a bit!), and distributing gifts. When I first signed up to participate I thought that each person participating gives a gift to each person on the list. I did not realize it can be a gift for the entire stateroom family and a gift from the entire stateroom family. (I was thinking more like one to one personal gifts.) So, in short (I know, too late!) there are 2 adults (me and DH) in our stateroom. Thanks for asking!
Palo Private Dining Room Brunch Group
The Palo Brunch will NOT appear in your personal cruise activities on the web site. As it was explained to me: The Palo Private Dining Room isn't technically booked by me/us. It is booked by the department that coordinates the brunches so other departments don't book it for other purposes. Then, they coordinate who has it for which brunch (in this case, me and DH with 11 guests join us). Soooo.... it does not show up on any Guest activities/itinerary even though we have the brunch reservation because it is reserved through a second department.
When I get onboard on the 17th, I have to go to a separate check-in table to confirm "our" reservation and the list of Guests joining us.

I can't believe we leave next Saturday. We're are spending two nights in Seattle, then one night in Vancouver prior to the cruise.
In Seattle make the effort to go to Miners Landing - for some reason it is not really listed in the typical tourist stuff. There is this amazing restaurant there called the Crab Pot that is amazing, but also another place (dont know the name) just outside and it looks like a 'fast food counter' - but isn't really- its all deep fried stuff - every kind of seafood, chicken, etc.. and its SOOOOOO YUMMY!
Inside the building there is a tacky tourist type shop that is fun and also an indoor carasoul (sp?). Adults can ride it to - only $1.50 to ride. Lots of fun stuff for kids there and great views.
From there (or from Pike Place) you can take a pedicab between the 2 of them - miners and pike place market!
If you want great views of Seattle and don't want to pay for the space needle (which is way over priced), go to Columbia Tower Club building.
http://www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/Columbia-Tower-Club
Its easy to get to - when you go in there is a huge food court and its very nice- huge office building. You can tell them at the desk you want to go up to the look out. He will show you where to go - you have to take 2 separate elevators to get there. I believe it is floor 74 you pay $5 and can use the look out...but.... Go right to floor #75 and one of the 'worlds best bathrooms' is up there - its the womens washroom. Now I have to say, we visited, just to see the big deal - and really it wasn't that special - but we can say we peed there and used all the lotions. LOL. What makes it special is the view. There is an electric shoe polisher as well. LOL.
Also, the monorail is a blast - do tht for sure!
Have fun!

Oh also - I found some amazing cruise cups at target today - they look like a big clear takeout cup with a straw - you unscrew the top. They are clear and have a grip on them - I think blue, green, pink, maybe orange? We got pink of course.
They are about the size of a medium drink from McDs' - cost $4.97 each. Perfect for refilling at the soda station!

Someone had a great question for people on the Alaska cruise now, but I think it would be great for here as well..
For those of you who have cruised before, what's the one thing that you forgot that you really wish you had...and something you thought you needed but really didn't.
Thanks for all the tips...I can't believe how helpful they have been...and it's so great to already feel like I know people on board. Can't wait to meet you in person...

For those of you who have cruised before, what's the one thing that you forgot that you really wish you had...and something you thought you needed but really didn't.
Hmmmmmm........
I am not really the type of person to forget something and I travel quite a bit, but on my Med cruise I "forgot" to leave extra space in the suitcase for stuff. I really dont buy much stuff when travelling but this was the last Med cruise and all the Disney Med 2010 merchandise was deeply, deeply discounted so I got a bunch of extra stuff that I normally wouldn't have bought. I was sweating it on the last night trying to pack then re-pack and weighing the bags to make sure I didn't go over the weight limit.
Something I thought I needed.....On my first Alaska cruise (2009 on Carnival Spirit) I brought my LL Bean ski jacket. I only used it once on the balcony as a blanket over my legs when I was watching too many humpback whales to count when we left out of Skagway.

Hello everyone! We're getting very excited about our cruise! We have our hotel in Seattle booked the night before! Everything is coming upon us so fast. My wife and I are creating our packing lists and double checking, triple checking them. We do not want to forget anything at all.
Anyways, the DIS Meet.
We know that we will be meeting in the Promenade Lounge for our DIS meet. However, there has been little discussion of the time for our meet. I just want to make sure we all have a good understanding of WHEN we are all meeting.
From the blogs, it looks like emergency drill is at 4:00.
Then the sail away party right after that.
What about setting the meet up time at 3:30, then we all can go to our respective emergency stations for our drill, since life vests are not required. I would love your feedback on this, everyone.
Also, if there are any cabin changes, this will be an excellent the time to communicate this to the other DISers. Lastly, everyone should know that the DIS meet is for EVERYONE, not just FE participants.
Have a great Sunday!

The one thing I brought and never used was the over the door shoe hanger thing for the bathroom that everyone insisted we needed. LOL. Never used it - plenty of room for what we had with us.
One thing I brought and used every day was a travel makeup mirror - we could sit and do makeup right at the desk -wont travel with out it!
Also the illuminated clock was good to have, and also my pop up laundry hamper.
I look at those packing lists and honestly laugh at some of the stuff on it -75% of it you will never use or need -I seriously can't believe what some people pack.
Oh here is something I wish I had packed and seriously have this for this time - you are all going to laugh really hard - one of those hanging air fresheners to put in the closet - no joke - we had our laundry in the closet, and honestly, 5-6 days of sweaty dirty clothes (now we were in the caribbean and it was HOT a couple of those days), just smells pretty ripe when in a contained space for a week - it was not a pleasant odor! LOL. I had to do laundry to get rid of the smell. We were on the go a lot, and it was hot - sweaty clothes in a cramped space is yucky! So I dont know if we will have that problem, but I have a little stick up air freshener I am going to put in the closet above the hamper! LOL.

I bring one of those hanging air freshener for the bathroom on each trip. I'll have to get another one now for the closet. :rotfl2:
Really, thanks for the tip.
Does anyone know what the price for an extra wave phone is?
No. Sorry. But if you get one, keep in mind each room comes with two phone and one charger. You will want another charger too. Also bring a power strip to be able to plug it in.

Read in a blog this am, that only the first ship will have to do the outside passage. And that all others will do the inside passage. :cool1:
From Allears Blog by Laura.
Our cruise is the only Disney Alaska
cruise that is scheduled to go north the way we did - all of the
others will cruise the Inside Passage both north and south. (Good
news for anyone who is worried about being seasick, since they
should not experience the rough seas that we had on our second day.)
Yea - we're all packed and ready to head to Vancouver next Sunday.

How much is the charge on wifi on the ship? I'm wondering how these people are blogging their trip.
Lollipop's Mom

Wifi is pricey - like $55 or 100 minutes.
I think what they do is write them, and go on the net and upload them.
Also, one of them mentioned they could get on their own internet in port - maybe they have a stick?
Also, in port, there is a lot of free wifi apparently - sometimes you can get it if you are up on the deck :)
I have so much to do this week!

Lets see... here is your best bet -
Take the Pacific Hwy Border Crossing (not Peace Arch). They are next to each other pretty much.
When you come over the border you just go straight - keep going - You will come to a town called Cloverdale (this is where they film smallville if you happen to be a fan, also where they film TONS of stuff actually).
When you come to 56th Ave, turn right.
Follow this down and on your right side will be a little mini-plaza and there is an IGA Marketplace - small grocery store that will probably work for you - easy to navigate. There is also a big drug store in this plaza and fast food.
Now if you want a BIG grocery store let me know - just not sure what you are after!
When you are done in the store, come out and go back the way you came, and turn back up the same road (hwy 15) - that road will take you all the way to Hwy 1 West and take you into Vancouver.
If you need an address for GPS of that store it is 17710 56 Ave, Surrey.
You will be about 10 mins from my house at that point :)
Let me know if that one will work. I can get you to a big safeway instead if you want.

But SOOOO excited about being back on the Disney Wonder. We have missed "our ship."
We are also getting excited about Alaska after seeing some of the AMAZING photos people have been posting from the ship this last week. Someone here mentioned a good book about cruising in Alaska. I can't seem to find it. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks!

Hey Nick
You could always walk up to the Shangri-la on Georgia St, there is a awesome Urban Fare Grocery Store there, depending what your looking for. They have ready made meals/pizza/salads it's really Gourmet. as well as all the other usual grocery store items + pharmacy. I think its great you want to stop at a Canadian grocery store, but remember no booze in Canadian grocery stores. There is is government liquor store across the street from Canada Place.

Started packing - clothes all packed but a few last minute things we are still wearing this week. I can't find my polar fleece jacket anywhere -I haven't had to wear a coat for over a month here (yes in Canada lol).
FE stuff is packed.
I realized my daughter is going to be in 'gasp' jeans in the dining room some nights- she is a teen and does not own 'pants' - and usually on the cruises she wears a sundress or skirt to dinner, but it might be too cold - so I packed some nice tops and she can wear them with dark jeans -I highly doubt anyone will care. She does have a cute dress for formal night and another for semi-formal, so she is all set that way.
I might even wear jeans a couple nights myself - I am trying to pack in ONE medium suitcase - I am convinced it can be done!
Ajojo
05-10-2011, 03:36 PM
Wow, I can't believe that many of you are all packed. I took my large suitcase out yesterday and realized that I definately will need to get a new one.
After my Med cruise last September, something happened on US Air to my suitcase from the time I checked in at Barcelona to the time I picked it up in Philadelphia. I didn't even recognize it. :scared1: It had a large v-shaped dent on the side of it, several deep cuts to the front, and the material around the edge was ripped off on the top corner.
When I got home, my parents said don't worry about it, so I didn't think about it again till yesterday. I tried to bend the frame back into place but found it was pretty solid and I had no such luck. So now I am in a bit of a panic because Walmart didn't have any American Tourister luggage last night only some really cheap stuff.
Dont know what I am going to do yet? Maybe I will stop at Ross and TJ Maxx on the way home and see if I can get a bag.

I am planning to bring several dark pair of jeans that may be able to double as bottoms with NICE tops for cruise casual dining. I suspect they mean that my husband should not wear his ripped and stained jeans that he wears to do chores around the house to dinner rather than jeans.....just a guess though! I'm sure you will be fine.

We will catch up with all of you on the ship or maybe see people around the hotel (well I guess I dont know what you look like LOL) - we are meeting my friend over on Lonsdale Quay for dinner - love that place and never really go there much, so its a fun little 'play tourist in our own town' thing for us.
I did think of something close by if you guys are looking- there is an Old Spagetti Factory about a 5 min cab ride away - and there is a train trolley car in the middle of the restaurant you can request to eat in :)
Menus are all inclusive - tea/coffee, salad, entree and ice cream - starts around $9.99 (spagetti) and goes up to about 19.99 (steak). We have one near our house so eat there once a month or so - pretty good food and cheap.

I might keep my room key and if for some reason we can't get on until 1, I will go back to the room and hang out. Check out is noon.
Also - if you are going to try and upgrade- do it at the port, will save you big $$.

It's not quite like DLR or WDW in that there are not CM everywhere with lanyards on, but yes, pin trading! :cool1:
When we were on our 4 day Wonder cruise in the Bahamas there was a pin cart. At set times throughout the day they had pin trading, just like at the Parks (off a lanyard, two per person, Disney pins, etc....). There was also one night of Officer pin trading.

Hi everyone,
I am usually the "plan ahead type" but booked this cruise yesterday (I can hardly believe it). I am a Vancouver local, DVC member and am very excited to be doing something Disney that doesn't involve several flights and jet-lag. I'll be with my girls (ages 6 and 14) who love pin trading and think the last Disney cruise they had was "the best time in their WHOLE life".
For me (a foodie), missing out on Palo is a sad thing, so if there are any ladies out there who have their hubby not wanting dinner because of sea-sickness or some such thing.... I can step in at a moments notice!

We thought we booked late (about a month ago), but WOW you really get the award for spontaneity! Good for you!
I have to say I agree with your girls regarding a Disney cruise being the best time! DH & I cruised the Bahamas on the Wonder last November and can't wait to sail with her again next week (aahhhhhh!).
I arranged for a group of us here on DIS to have brunch in Palo in their private dining room on our first day at sea. The brunch requirement for the private room is a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 14 people. We have 13. Sounds to me like the is a seat just waiting for you if you would like to join us. (It would not include your girls, but as you may already know Palo is adults only.) It does cost $20. if you are interested, let me know and I will see if I can add one to our reservation to make us a group of 14.

Switching gears for a second...
Those of you planning on taking the Skytrain/Canada Line form the airport to your hotel, check my math & reasoning here. Michelle looking for your local input as well :-)
Erica and I are planning on taking the Skytrain from YVR to our hotel. From the trip planner on the translink website, it looks like we are getting off at the Vancouver City Station Northbound...
The Fare is $8.75 according to the planner, which includes the $5 additional fee for traveling out of the airport. It seems to be a better deal to actually buy a FareSaver 10-pack ticket to use for the both of us, as the additional fee doesn't apply for prepaid tickets.
The FareSaver two zone ticket is $31.50 for 10 trips. If we split the ticket, that's $3.15 per trip, $6.30 for the both of us to travel from YVR to the Vancouver City station, as we would cross into another zone.
Following this logic, it is less expensive for us to buy the book if we are also planning on returning to the airport via the Skytrain from the Cruise Terminal.
Thoughts?

Thoughts?
That sounds about right.
Or you can take the bus fro $14 each - $28 each way for both of you and a lot less hassle! :)

Yes, you're right, it would be much cheaper if you use all the tickets during your stay. I see (online) that they say you can buy the books at Pharmasave or 7-11 in the Airport (I'm not sure where that is exactly).
I would buy the book if you're doing more than your transportation to/from the Airport, as you could also use your remaining tickets when travelling around Vancouver (using the 2 zone ticket for travel in the one zone), or take the Sea Bus (small passenger ferry) over to the North Shore. By my calculations your travel to and from the airport will cost you $35 without the ticket book, which is $3.50 more than with the book. If it is only going to save you $3.50, I wouldn't bother buying it as you'd have to find the Pharmasave or 7-11 before getting on Skytrain (not sure of the location of those in relation to where you get your bags or depart for Skytrain).
I don't know about you, but once I land I just want to get out of the Airport and really start my vacation!
You probably know this, but the Cruise Ship Terminal at Canada Place is right at Waterfront Station on the skytrain line. I am actually planning to take Skytrain on the day of the cruise as it is so convenient.
Have a great trip and feel free to PM me if you want more info.
Cheers.

Since I only just booked, the earliest check in I could take was 1:30 (which I did). I am wondering if I showed up earlier, even much earlier, if they would check me in or make me wait for hours? :confused3 It's great having lunch when hardly anyone is there, the last DVC cruise I was on, the characters came around very early and there was no competition for their attention -- a real treat.

I was going to tell you $30, but this info is from another site:
"What does a taxi cost from Vancouver airport to downtown Vancouver hotels?
Usually about $25 to $30. Travel time is about 30 minutes. If you arrive at YVR between the rush-hour times of 7AM to 9AM or between 3PM to 6PM, the rate and travel times will be slightly higher (45 minutes, and approx $30 to $40). "
I personally would be shocked if it took 45 minutes to get to Downtown from the Airport. And the number of passengers does not factor into the cost, but if your child is of an age where they need a car seat or booster, you might be a little snug in the back. There are often mini vans in the Airport taxi queue equipped for wheelchairs, you could try and flag one of those down (I don't believe there is any difference in the cost).
Cheers.

Are there any other single parents/singles on this sailing? There are often some of the adult only stuff I want to attend (like the comedian and stuff) and I never go, because I feel so awkward just going in and sitting down at a show by myself.
I am fairly social, but can be shy at first - I can't walk into a large room of people where everyone is with someone, and just sit down and chat. I am hoping to catch some of these shows this time! Would be nice to have someone to go with!
I am an 'honorary' single mum this cruise, DH is busy working so I am going to be with my girls (6 and 14). I would love to do some grown-up stuff so keep me in mind. I see there is a meet up on departure day -- I will definitely try to be there.

Funny thing is - meg wanted a hint about her present, so I told her to decode this number 2420#### (the res number).
She had the phone out and was trying to match letters to the numbers and thought it really was a code I made up -she is still trying to 'decode' it. LOL
Sorry to drag up something from back in page 25 or so, but I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread. That is really funny, I can just picture my teenage daughter doing that and then spending 2 hours on google trying to figure it out.

I am not a mom or single in the honorary or real sense, but... I have a husband that sometimes doesn't like doing the same activities onboard as I do and we are completely comfortable with, "Meet you back here in two hours." If you enjoy doing cruise activities and such, maybe we could go explore together at various times.

I made a goal last year to save cans and bottles to pay for my dog sled excursion. I turned them in yesterday and I did it with $2.40 left over for another soda. We have lots of people at work that drink soda and bottled water. It was a real fun goal and I can't believe I made it.
Two days to go and I get to leave for our wonderful trip, I can't wait to meet everyone.

So the plan: Be ahead of the game. Get everything needed by Wednesday and be packed by Friday. Spend Sat and Sun reading Alaska book and excited about trip!
Reality: Wasn't feeling well after work Tuesday. (No, I will not get sick! Not NOW.) Wednesday: officially admit that I'm sick. No energy to run around and buy winter jacket or hiking boots or extra pair of jeans (I CAN'T be sick! Nooooo!) Thursday: Should be shopping for final items and starting packing, but am at Dr's office. (PLEASE make me better! I can't be sick!!!) Today: Day 1 of antibiotics! :( (PLEASE WORK FAST!!!)
Not packed, still have to find somevthings for trip, and am supposed to "just rest." :scared1: Fortunately, DH has been wonderful and is doing everything he can to help. If you have any spare pixie dust, please send it my way!
Oh, yeah, excursions: We have one booked in each port so we can see a little bit of Alaskan history or culture in each port

Hi All
We will be at the Meetup for sure :dance3:
I am starting to organize all the kids stuff, it's kind of hard because my son Dante doesn't know we are going and I have never travelled with a 9 month old and trying to figure out what to pack for her is impossible, how many diapers, should I bring some food for her too? Does anyone know if you can borrow toys to bring to the room from the kids areas or books? or should I just pack a few things to keep her busy when we have some down time in the room.
Just found out we got switched to the Main dining we had to put a special request in as my son takes pain medication and doesn't really stay up much past 8pm as he is so tired from the drugs, he has a degenerative bone disease that is causing his hips, knees and some other joints to collapse. So this is pretty special vacation for him, we try and do something special for him a couple times a year because he will loose his ability to walk shortly.
I am getting super excited to get on the ship and see Mickey and Minny and all the princesses........

I have PM'd you right back. Sounds great to get the girls together.
I am on late dining, but decided to stay put so we could have a later breakfast time. Last cruise, breakfast was so early I couldn't believe it -- I managed it a couple of times but it was difficult. Also, my 6 year old does not need an early bed-time, and being on the West Coast eating at 8:00 isn't actually going to feel like eating at 11:00.
I am however really hoping for (and I requested) the second dining rotation -- my girls love AP the best, so 3 visits on this trip would be great. I also requested being at a table of 8 (I thought the-more-the-merrier), so I hope my table-mates feel the same way.

I have nothing for our FE. I have everyone's FE gifts. I just have nothing to hang from our fish. :upsidedow

I am pulling together all the information for our trip and am not sure if a meetup was ever decided upon in Vancouver for tomorrow, 5/16? If there was something agreed upon, can someone post the specifics here. Thanks!

Just hopping on to say how fabulous this week was! I enjoyed meeting and chatting with some of you, and exchanging gifts with some of you. Everything in the exchange was terrific, thank you to each and every family that participated, and special thanks to Nick & Cordelia for organizing us! We are still in Vancouver tonight, will be travelling home all day tomorrow. We have over a thousand photos to sort through, and will be posting some photos and a trip report some time after we get home. Highlights were that we had as good weather as we could hope for, and even had sunshine on our sea day on Monday. Eating in Palo was a highlight, loved both brunch and dinner. We loved having a verandah, felt that was worth the cost - we had scenery wherever we were on board. We enjoyed all of our excursions, and wish only that we had gone on a whale watch, since we saw too few of those! We did not see bears, but did see eagles, puffins, many gulls, goats, seals and sea lions. Tracy Arm was absolutely terrific, I could cheerfully have done that a second day rather than visit one of the ports! The shopping was unimpressive in my opinion, hope no one is going to shop - stores are essentially the same in each port, and keep in mind that everything sold there has to be transported in, so the shipping costs are added to the prices.
Our accommodations were comfortable, the food was fine, (although we didn't think it was over the top, except for Palo), and the entertainment was fun....what we participated in! We enjoyed the Pirates prem-EAR at midnight (and appreciated the adults only show, we love the kids, but it was pleasant to have our own showing!). Most nights we were unconscious relatively early. We made a conscious decision not to try to overdo, so we gave up some of the late night activity in favor of some sleep! Our servers and state room host were efficient and friendly, but not overbearing. We had no issues on this trip!
The Wonder is ready for her stint in dry dock, we noticed she is looking a little tired in more than a few areas. I would love to sail her again afterwards. She is a gem. Seas were relatively smooth, very small waves. The Inside Passage is a great passage for calm waters. I took very low dosages of meclizine the entire week, and experienced very mild reactions to the ship's motion only on the first night.
Overall, we enjoyed everything very much. I would go again in a New York minute. My husband is not so much a Disney fan, so he is happy he went, but would like to try other cruise lines should we choose to go again. So, we did not book on board ... not much cash left, anyway :rotfl2:
Hope everyone is arriving home safely, and had as good or better week than we did. I'm sorry I missed meeting all of you on this thread, and thanks for everyone's input ahead of time. Thanks for helping to make our cruise so magical!

Made it home after a very long drive got in the car at 8:45am and got home at 12:30am 15.75 hours later. (this included a breakfast and a supperbreak) We decided that we would just carry our bags off. We were on our way to breakfast at 8:30 in Parrot Kay and noticed that there was no line up for disembarking but there was a huge line for breakfast so off we went we had a 10 second wait for customs and that was it. We had to call our friend to see where she parked our car. She had dropped it off on Sunday and it still cost us $86  Oh well it was supper easy for us. Seen a Black bear and a bunch of Elk on our drive home.
Our cruise was really nice. We ended up with a waiter that we had had from a RCI cruise about 3 years ago. On that cruise he was not into having anytype of personality but thankfully Disney had him straigtend out and we enjoyed him this time:)
We enjoyed the EXTREMLY smooth waters for this cruise. By far the smoothest cruise we have every been.
Enjoyed the FE exchange. The one gift that was great but don't know how it was possible to get done was the 5x7 photo mate with the character signatures.
I kept meaning to try to match the gifts to the list of names but never got around to it did anyone else?
Anyone know what time blue donald duck tags got called? Thats the tags we had but did the self walk off after the first two colors were called.

We had blue donald duck tags and we were called pretty close to 9:30. We didn't mind since we had the 10:45 Quickshuttle and it worked out.
This was our first cruise and everybody had a great time. Thanks everyone for all the tips. I didn't get a chance to meet everybody but I did see some of you guys.

Oh, what a trip. We started a week earlier in Calgary and drove to Vancouver through the Rockies. We were in awe of the beauty we saw and it continued on the cruise. Everything was perfect Disney. Had the same server from our cruise in Sept. 2010 and just loved her and her new husband who is also a server. They made it very special for us.
We took the train ride in Skagway and I must say this was my favorite day of the cruise. What a wonderful 7-1/2 hour trip up to the Yukon Territory and we had a fabulous guide on the bus return trip.
We are really sorry we did not go on a whale watch trip. I only saw about 13" of a whale's back in the water. So disappointed. We will know better next time. Met some other wonderful Disney passengers at the Totem Pole Park in Ketchikan. We shared a ride back to town in a taxi and they graciously paid my portion. Thanks again.
Scenery was just a constant OMG! What beauty. Would do this trip again in a heartbeat.

Thank you Nick for coordinating the FE Exchange. A BIG huge thank you to all who participated in the FE exchange....it was definitely a highlight for my kids to open the door to the room and see if there was anything in there...we didn't get a signed frame through the FE...but the way to do it is you drop off a photo mat on day 1 with sharpies to guest services and ask them to have the characters sign it...I did this with three pillow cases and two photo mats and they have all the characters on board sign them...it's a great souveneir!
The gifts were amazing...so I thank each and every one of you who took the time to come up with such creative gifts...and those who brought so much stuff for the kids...I thought I'd come home with more room in my suitcase, but I had almost a whole bag of fe gifts LOL! I didn't keep a list of who gave what...
We gave the post it note holder, and the little tins with mickey on them and a chocolate coin and pin inside..

We also just returned from this wonderful vacation. Although we did not attend any of the meets, nor participated in the FE exchange, it was a great trip. I thank all who let me read their posts to get ideas.
We were able to book the Pan Pacific for 2 nights before the cruise. This was a great deal for us. In more than one way. We got it from Hotwire, thanks for the tips on that. Also it was nice and convenient since we were travelling with 2 small ones. The Pan also gave us connecting rooms, which was great for all 6 of us.
We did the Liarsville tour with the Disney characters and that was great, we panned for gold there. It was a very nice tour.
In Juneau, we did a whale watch. There were humpbacks there. We saw 3 different areas of whales. The last had a mother and calf. It was very neat. We were in a smaller boat, which I thought was nice. Only about 40 of us at most.
We loved Tracy Arm the most and that night we had dinner at Palo, so were finished up Tracy Arm at Palo, wonderful views.
I hope everyone enjoyed the trip as much as we did. Words cannot adequately express what a great trip this was, and pictures do not do it justice either. You had to experience it to really get the feeling.

I just realized I didn't check in on this thread! Had a great time - loved meeting all of you. FE gifts were great - thanks everyone so much!
I had trouble delivering a few of mine - went to the door and there was no extender! I think a few people changed rooms and I didn't know??
There was one room that wasn't on our list and had this bag thing hanging outside and I wondered if it was one of us, so I tossed some FE stuff in there -lol. If not, well they got a surprise. lol.
I loved the cruise - wasn't overly pleased with the food, but its a small part of it. Loved alaska more than I thought i would! We didn't really do anything there (did ride the ducks in ketchikan), but didn't want/need to.
Came home nice and relaxed!

Hi everyone,
Just had time to check in. Got home from Vancouver Friday morning around midnight and did not get home until arounds 2 am. Then had to go off to work tonight. Wanted to thank everyone for the FE gifts. Had to bring them home in the Castaway Cay bag. Alaska was great and words can't express the beauty.
We booked the Dream for October with daughter/son-in-law and grandkids. Can't wait. But we will sure be going back to Alaska and Canada. Maybe this time we will see the bear (and not the stuffed one in Skagway).
Glad everyone had a great time and all take care "Until We Meet Again".

I booked march 11 Mex riv for spring break. Price is cheap, but not sure we will keepnit. Love dcl but also feel the shows getting tired, the food BAD and we might want to experience something new. I might push dcl to 2013 on the fantasy and choose another vacation for 2012. Maybe allure or oasis or a land trip to NYC or ???

Lollipop's Mom;
You would love the Oasis or Allure. We went on the Oasis last October and it was fantastic. The itinary is not the greatest but we are so over the Caribbean most of the itinaries don't excite us. The Oasis or Allure is the destination. You don't have to get off the ship if you don't want to there is so much to do.

Thanks - will depend on $$. THe mex riv cruise is so affordable. I need a beach vacation too - Alaska was fun, but the ship was our destination on that one - this time I want to hit the beach and lay in the sunshine!!!
Leaving from vancouver was a treat though - no airport stress to deal with made for a nice vacation!
