OMG, I have to share (slow load no more)

I love my DIS and if the moderator finds my post to be way off the topic, please delete with my apologies.

I come to DIS a few times a day for one reason or another. Dis has been slow. At times real slow 15-30 second page loads slow. I went to the technical forum and was reading a thread about slow speed when I noticed a post that really changed things for me. If you go to your user CP and down Edit Options under settings and options and go down towards the bottom (thread display options) and uncheck show signatures and show avatars and then all the way at the bottom uncheck show user customizations and save those changes your pages loads will improve dramagically. It's like night and day for me. Yeah, I can't see when your going on your next DVC vacation, but that's the price I have to pay.

Please share your experiences. Oh, you'll see my signature, but I won't :rotfl:

I'll definitely be trying this because the slowness is driving me nuts.

Here in the UK, mornings are easy with the Dis, but (presumably when the USA wakes up) later in the day it can be very slow.

I've had signatures turned off for quite some time now, but not for speed. For decluttering. There are only so many moving monorails and sparkling/animated images that I really need to see in one day.
