I'm interested in what rate you received to actually book a convertible, not a complimentary upgrade or picked off the EA, etc. Who did you rent with? Did you use a discount? If so, what code did you use? TIA for your response.

Convertibles are going to be expensive. I think that the best quotes I have gotten are in the high $40 a day range. Sometimes Dollar has deals, but don't count on it. You can't normally use upgrade coupons etc for convertibles.
The last time I rented one I got it via Priceline. I decided I not pay more than a normal midsize would cost me. I got the convertible from Budget. (Mustang) and it was fine.
One other caution. I drive a convertible all the time. They have NO truck. One or two suitcases it all you can get in there! The LeBaron is bigger than the Mustang, but.... that is where the top goes so the trunk is still tiny!

I have one reserved through Dollar. With all taxes and fees, it will cost us approximately $250 for a week. The previous poster is absolutely correct about the trunk size!!! Last year, we got a Mustang convertible and did not have room for our luggage!! We had to go back in and change to the LeBaron. Keep that in mind if there are more than 2 of you traveling. This year...it's just DH and myself, so the Mustang will be fine if that's what we get.
This will be the 3rd year we've rented a convertible, and there's nothing like cruising around DisneyWorld or over to the beach with the top down and the wind in your hair - instant Florida suntan!!

Keep in mind that you might not be able to change to the LeBaron. I think Budget only has the Mustang. Also, National has the Spider and while I have not seen the trunk, I am thinking it will be VERY small!

For how long and when?
You can rent a convertible Chrylser Sebring from Dollar Rent A Car at Orlando Airport (MCO) for one week in August, $209 a week, $263.10 with tax, no insurance included. Use code MCC in the promo code box at their web site. Dollar is located onsite arcoss from baggage pickup.

We rented a Sebring convertible from Dollar in April/May and used a code {not sure which one}. The weekly rate was $199 plus the taxes and fees. The car was brand new with leather interior and had a very tiny trunk. We could only put one of our large suitcases and one smaller one. I second what Twinmom2 said....having the Florida sunshine, wind in your hair and cruising around Disney, AWESOME!!!

Thanks for the info.
I went ahead and reseverd a convertible for my next trip. I will probably still try priceline and see if I can beat the quote, but the Dollar weekly rate was pretty good.

The small trunk won't be an issue... DH and I travel light. Unfortunately, the MCC code doesn't work for me:rolleyes: However, I did find a base rate of $249. :Pinkbounc Whaddya think? Anybody else?

What I did was try ALL the rates on Mousesavers.com. However, depending on when you are going $249 sounds like a pretty good deal. Oh my other warning. Put ALL loose papers (like the rental car contract and map) away! Stuff just blows out of mine all the time!

I did the same thing you did, CarolA, and checked rates with all the codes from the mousesavers site... that's how I found the $249 rate.:D
Thanks for the loose paper tip... that's what my handy dandy messenger bag is for:)
Anybody else care to share their experiences with convertible rates?

We rented a convertible with Dollar in December 2000. It was $75/day not including fees and tax.

As far as I know the LeBaron (Chrysler) was discountinued years ago and replaced with the Sebring. Do you rent an older one?

Nope, I just am not good at car names! I had a friend who had the LeBaron and I still refer to the Sebring by it's old name.
Sorry!

Ours was a Sebring. We loved it so much, Ted bought one!
Great cars! Plenty of room!

Plenty of room for two people and luggage. I would get something larger for more than that.
:)
We learned this weekend that 4 people, a cooler, and 4 beach chairs didn't work too well.

Even medium size suitcases may not fit in the trunk. For 2 people you can always put your luggage in the back seat. I saw a family trying to fit their luggage in the trunk of a Sebring. I left before they gave up. I guess you could always make 2 trips or send one person with a lot of luggage on Mears but basically convertibles only work for a couple.
