an earlier check-out to achieve an earlier check in?

We certainly would. We always find ourselves chomping at the bit to get in and once we accept the cold fact that we can't stay forever (:yay:) we can get going early.

Absolutely! We usually check out early anyway and spend our last day at the parks before heading to the airport.

absolutely not!
I never change my internal clock from Central time, so in my mind I'm already leaving my room for you an hour early. I can't imagine arriving from Mountain or West :-o

I could probably live with a 10am check-out but no earlier than that.

That said, in our dozen or so DVC trips we have never had to wait until 4pm to get a room so I'm not sure that changes are necessary. Housekeeping CMs begin cleaning rooms as soon as possible from those who depart early. So I'm not sure that an earlier check-out would even have a positive impact on arrival times. It may just lead to rooms sitting empty for a greater portion of the day.

Let's say a CM works an 8am-5pm shift, it takes 30 minutes to clean a single room and she is expected to service 16 rooms during that shift. As long as 6 of the 16 rooms are vacated before 11am, the CM has enough to keep her busy from 8-11am. Going to an earlier check-out would only result in rooms sitting empty for a greater portion of the day. It wouldn't necessarily help get guests into their rooms any sooner.

While we have had to wait until after 4pm, we usually are in our room by 2:30. We are usually out of our room by 10, often earlier. We only checked-out late once (about 15 minutes) and we were delayed at the sales center doing an add-on, they called housekeeping and let them know we'd be out shortly.

I have no problem with a 10am check-out time, but I think anything earlier is inconvenient for the majority of members.

I would, but we're always out of the room and on the road heading home before 7 a.m. on checkout day.

My vote: NO

Most of my other timeshares run 4:00p check-in; 12:00p (noon) check-out. That DVC is an 11:00A check-out is already giving me grief! I'd strongly prefer a noon checkout.

I would too. We are either on the way back to MCO to take the first flight out or checked out having breakfast at Cape May. I've never checked out to do the parks on the last day because I normally need to get back home before a certain time to pick up my fur-babies.

11am works for us, at a regular hotel we generally ask for a later check out. I don't want to see the change to an earlier check out in order to get an earlier check in.

IMHO most members are leaving before the checkout time anyway. We are always on the road by 530am heading home. I think that individuals that can or want to sleep in and enjoy a late morning start should have that priviledge. If mousekeeping has been cut back like some areas of the boards are saying there should be plenty of rooms available for cleaning to allow early arrivals and earlier checkin. We always checkin at 7am go to breakfast and head to the parks. Honestly I would not waste time unloading my vehicle first thing in the morning anyway . There is way too much fun to be had and the luggage will wait. I guess my feelings would be different if you could not checkin and go on about your business at the parks until your room is ready.

I personnally would prefer a 12:00 check out or the option of a later check out. We usually try to get every last bit of our vacation. It really depends on the flight schedule. With airlines being what they are you are at their mercy and if you cann't get a flight until later, it is really hard not to have your own space for as long as you can. I know you can always leave your luggage with the bell service but if you have to change because you are going back to a cold climate it is more difficult. I know it can be done (and we do it) but I would like a different option rather than feeling like I am getting thrown out earlier.

I'm good with it the way it is...definitely wouldn't want any earlier. I like to sleep in before the drive home in the morning, so any earlier would be an inconvenience.

I don't worry much about the checkin - during less crowded seasons, my room is often available for checkin as early as noon...and during busy seasons when I might have to wait until 4pm, I just park my luggage with bell services, and head to a park or Marketplace.

We are in a cold climate too, and I feel the opposite. I prefer to get out of the room early and hit the parks all day before leaving for home on the latest flight we can book. We usually put warm clothes in a tote, and change either in the bathroom at the resort or at the airport and stick the empty tote in our carry on bag.

No, absolutely not. We like the time in the mornings for the last minute packing, breakfast etc. and just relaxing a bit before the travel home. It's pretty standard at hotels etc. for a check in of 4pm although checkout is often noon and I see no need for DVC to be different.

Absolutely not, most of the time 11:00 is earlier than we like! We too, are one of those who likes to get every bit out of our vacation time and enjoy our DVC.

Especially since we are only 4 hours from home and even closer at VB, and the fact that we have to get up way too early for park days than my DW likes, we usually end up packing up, checking out, then enjoying what we can until the ablosute latest minute we can to drive home. This sometimes means packing a seperate bag to shower at the pool and change clothes before we head home (at least DVC provides the facilities to do that).

Actually, more like a 4:00 pm Check-OUT would be best for us! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I wouldn't like a later check out however IF they did change the checkout time to say 10 that doesn't mean you will get your room earlier, they can change the check in time to after 3pm but after 3 pm could mean 5,6,7, or 8 pm before you get your room. If on the other hand they guaranteed the rooms to be ready (I know they won't but if they did) at say 3 or 4 pm then I wouldn't be opposed to a earlier checkout.

Another big NO! I don't like to feel rushed when I'm packing, and I really like to sleep in as late as I can.

As far as checking in, if our room's not ready we just leave our stuff and head for the parks. I've never been bothered by it. Also, we've never had to wait long for our room. Maybe we've just been lucky on that one.

Nope, I like the check out time as it is.

However, I would not mind seeing a list of things we should do before we leave the rooms like they have at the Wyndham TS.

If everyone did what was on the list (strip beds, place in a pile with all towels, load dishwasher and take out all garbage if I remember correctly), our MF would be assisted and they could clean the rooms much faster.

I agree with this! We do all those things already, and if EVERYONE had to do it, it would certainly make the turn around work faster for the housekeeping staff. Maybe then they could actually CLEAN the villas too rather than just do a once over and done.

I would love an earlier check-in time, but NOT if I have to leave before 11am to get it. As it is we have to set the alarm to get up, eat breakfast, shower, dress, pack & clean out the fridge & cabinets. We just barely make the 11am cut off as it is! :sad2:

No, the 11:00 AM check out is fine. I just wish they'd enforce the check out time and when people ask for a later check out make them pay more points to stay longer.

I know we have relatives that think late check out is their given right. They usually mean 2 hours and take more. Hmmm, maybe we shouldn't invite them to stay on our points.:rotfl:

We are early risers and usually flee very early so it wouldn't affect me. We have a 9 hour drive and like to get up and out. That being said we usually arrive around 3 pm and the room is ready so no biggie either way.

10PM check in is fine with us-we always take ME to the resort and check our names in, and then hit the parks until closing while the bags/groceries are delivered (so what good is an earlier check in?). That way check out could be 5PM.

I'd be in favor of Disney enforcing the existing 11 AM checkout time as a means to meet the existing 4 PM checkin time.

Many of the problems with late checkin are caused by inconsiderate guests who "self-extend" and Disney managers are too timid to do anything about it.

I would be another no vote. We fly from Nor Cali and always arrive in the late afternoon. We leave in the late afternoon too - so we like taking our time getting ready to leave - I'd love an extra hour the "other" way - noon check out sounds great

Many of the problems with late checkin are caused by inconsiderate guests who "self-extend" and Disney managers are too timid to do anything about it.

From what I have read of Florida laws related to the hospitality industry, the only real action a hotel can take is to contact law enforcement to have the individuals forcably evicted. Security can't make them leave. The resort can't arbitrarily remove bags from rooms.

They could also impose some sort of financial penalty on guests who stay beyond posted times. That is an action I suspect most guests (particularly DVC members) would support. But the decision to do so would have to come from higher authority than the resort managers.

I would also be in favor of that.

It wouldn't be that hard (or take very long) for front desk CM to review that "stay too long" charge with guests checking in - we have to initial something now at check in anyway.

What would be really nice is to have the option to stay later or check out earlier. As well as to get in early or check in later.

For example, my flight last trip didn't get in to 7:00 pm and we got to BW at 8:30- I didn't need to check in early so they could have given me a room where the last guest wanted to check out later.

My next trip is the same. We won't arrive at the BW til 8:00pm so the people in my room could actually check out later if this wished- like 12:00 -1:00 No later than that.

And it could happen in the reverse too. Those of you that leave early and arrive early could have your pick too.

Wouldn't that require an additional shift of housekeepers? And imagine the complaint from folk who "hear" the housekeeper vacuuming and making beds in the unit next door if they got a late check-out to sleep late.

no.:sad2: don't push me on my last morning to get packed up & get out any earlier than i have to. we usually have a late nite on our last nite so i don't want the additional stress of having to get up any earlier to get out. we typically don't arrange for early flights home. mid-afternoon works if we can book it that way so 11:00 is a happy check-out time for me. and just btw we are USUALLY (but not always) ones to fly down REALLY early for our check-in day. we just leave our stuff with bell services & head out to the parks or grab lunch or whatever. i'd really rather do that than have to be OUT early.

Not us.

We fly into Orlando, and the earliest we have gotten to our resort (after getting bags, rental car, etc..) might be 11-11:30. We dont usually go to the parks on our first day, we prefer to relax.

If our room is not ready, we will go to lunch and hang out by the pool. The latest we have gotten into our room was around 1:45 (this is for all our trips), which I dont have a problem with at all.
