Layout Challenge #1 - All Scrappers Welcome!

Welcome to the Layout Challenge #1. This is open to all scrappers, traditional, digital, and hybrid. The theme is open to whatever you wish to scrap. There is no Disney requirement.

This challenge will be open for 3 weeks, from September 23-October 14. PrincessM will draw a name at random on October 15th. The winner will host the next challenge.

In this challenge, please use this sketch, which I found on about.com,

For snail gifts, check out CafePress.com. For some reason, my daughter loves slugs so that's where I went to get her a slug t-shirt. Yes I typed that right- a Slug T-shirt! don't ask me where that came from! But anyway, they have all kinds of unusual gifts, animal stuff, and I know they have snails also! My daughter would LOVE that for a mascot!

No, I had no time to work on anything yesterday.. I decided to help DD get that banner done for homecoming.. it's now back at school...and my stress level is back to "0"... (gosh, lets keep it that way!)....I also cleaned 1/2 of my scrap room yesterday evening..so I have to do the other half today and than I'll scrap this weekend..
Which reminds me.. I need to have DH take DD's camera to a college tour this weekend.. I want to scrap the tours for our eldest.

Yup, I just did 3 more so only 7 to go to hit my yearly goal. 266 is how many pages I made last year (my goal for 2008 was 208). I figured if I can do 266 for 08 I can do it for 09. My "dream" goal is 365 but that's just a dream LOL

in 2007 I joined 47 swaps a total of 177 spots PLUS I made 26 kits. I got 206 pages done
in 2008 I joined 17 swaps a total of 87 spots and I got 266 pages done.

One year was in over 250 spots and got ZERO done in my books :(
The beginning of this year I PUNISHED myself. I said self you can't swap OR scrap Disney trips till you are caught up on ALL your holiday layouts. My son is 8 and I didn't have any of those done (bad mommy I know LOL)

So in January I printed out all the holiday photos and anything else I wanted to do. I did a total of 76 holiday layouts LOL When I got overwhelmed with just Holiday layouts I did sneak in some Disney but it wasn't DIsney trips related. For insists I used a Dumbo swap I had for my Dumbo tattoo layout. I used another Dumbo swap for a Halloween DUmbo costume layout (my son DID NOT want to dress up as anything for Halloween LOL). I also used Disney swaps for Disney themed Birthday's (mickey, Buzz etc)

Just before I go on vacation I don't clean clean the house. Oh yes, I do the everyday chores like cleaning dishes, vaccuming etc. 2 or 3 days before I leave I clean the house from top to bottom, I mean I clean everything (I even take out all the lightbulbs and make sure they are dust free LOL let's not forget dusting all the ceiling fans too.

Anyway, this is my plan for the next 4 days: do 7 more pages, clean house top to bottom, finishing packing, decorate house for Halloween and leave for Disney on Wednesday. I want to have everything done before Tuesday this way my son and I can spend all day on the school work his teacher should be giving him for vacation plus Wednesday morning we have till 12.

Here are my pages for this challenge. It's a 3 page layout and will be the last pages of the book for the trip to Montana we took in 2008.

When we started taking wildlife photos on our trip, we seemed to end up with only animal butts. They would be standing nicely until right before we took the picture and then they'd turn around. Even the swans didn't cooperate. Every picture I have of the swans has them diving under!:lmao: Anyway, it got to be a game we played on the trip, trying to get a photo of the butt of every type of animal we saw. I decided it would be a fun way to end our book so at the airport on our way home, I got a picture of our butts! It goes nicely with the photo I'm going to use as the first page, which is us arriving at the airport (the front of us!!:lmao:).

My MIL starts chemo this week, so I have been reading up on that and researching recipes and healthy diet recommendations for her. That has taken up most of my scrapping time. (I am however more than happy to do it for her. :goodvibes)

just thought i'd throw it out there that lemon is the natural cure for nausea. so anything lemon takes that feeling away. i ate so many lemon drops when i was pregnant with bubba. lemonade, lemon candy, i even put lemon juice in my water. worked very well for me.
i must say the bubba is a NUT for lemonade. must be my fault!:rotfl:

and someone told me with my mom that black licorice was good for cancer patients also? i never did get to try it with mom, but it's what i've been told.

You may want ot be careful with lemon, as chemo can cause pretty nasty mouth sores. tehre is alot they can do at the clinic for nausea now. If she does get mouth sores, get her dentist to get her lidocane.

Yes, I knew that too. I will keep the dentist in mind. I am anticipating that she will have a lot of nausea, she always has stomach issues when she is ill or on meds. :guilty:

Here is my submission...Finally! :cool1: This is DS with all of his loveys. The patterned paper is actually his blanket that I scanned in and printed out on regular computer paper. The journaling on both sides of that are the names of his loveys and the journaling at the top of the page are the dates that each of the loveys joined our family. I really had a great time creating this one. Thanks for a great challenge! :thumbsup2

I'm out... what I planned to do is still sitting downstairs...as I have a sick friend's child here today because she had an important conference in Chicago and her hubby is at a conference in St. Louis...

I will, he is sleeping peacefully on the couch... However, mom is having the guilts and txting non-stop.... I finally told her to just relax, he was fine, get thru the meeting and have a safe trip home! Sometimes you just have to be gone when you work...and I don't mind taking care of the kids when they are well or when they are sick.... ok, back to the laundry....
