I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me. I am looking for a reasonably priced hotel in or very near to Cambridge for a one night stay later this month as DS has to swim at a Gala at the Cambridge Parkside Pools and it's an 8.30 am warm up and I really don't want to be getting him up at 5 - 5.30 to travel there thought it might be better to stay the night before, but don't seem to be able to find anything reasonable on the net. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks.

I dont know if this is of any help to you Snookhams - but I got you a link to Cambridge tourist info.

A good friend of mine always used to stay at the Postehouse or Trusthouse Forte hotel but I cant find a link at the moment - but I know that she went back there year after year for a family gathering and was always very happy with the service etc.

Many thanks for this information - I have tried a couple of hotels and they seem to be full or I can stay at a travellodge 18 miles the other side of Cambridge. I shall look at this web site now Thanks

I was in Cambridge last year attending a seminar on intrinsic safety systems and we stayed at the Gonville Hotel in the centre of Cambridge. It was very close to the swimming pool, in front of a big park called 'Parker's Piece' -

Here's the website for the hotel:

Rack rates are a bit pricey, but they do special deals.

....... there's also the Moat Houses - the Cambridgeshire Moat House is on the Bar Hill turn off of the M11 and the centre of town is about 6-8 miles from there. The rates are Bed and Breakfast:
£ 58 PER PERSON and Dinner, Bed and Breakfast: £ 72 PER PERSON. Their website is www.queensmoathousehotel.co.uk
It may not be any use but just a thought...........

Thanks for all your help, have had a hard time finding a vacancy for that night- everyone else must have had the same idea, but managed to get booked into the Holiday Inn in Cambridge.
