I have been checking everyday for airfares for our December cruise and have been getting around $450 non-stop for Los Angeles to Orlando (my Dad needs non-stop due to his needing oxygen onboard). I just found a roundtrip price for $215 on-line only. There must be a price war going on among the major airlines.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

That is really great news...must give you some peace of mind too.
May I ask what airlines? We have been shopping mos. for tickets for our group and the dates we need for Dec are all still very high. Our daughter and family need tickets from Seattle and prices are outrageous. So we are keeping our fingers crossed for a break soon.

I first did a search on orbitz for the dates, times and airports (we have been keeping our eyes on a non-stop flight for Delta and United, they had both been running about the same cost) and then went to the airlines' websites to verify. We picked the best one for our needs. For some reason dealing directly with the airline makes me feel more comfortable than dealing with an outside company. I'm probably wrong there, but everyone has their own comfort zone.

From Hartford to orlando I could go up to Sept. 29th for 49.00 each way but to go in December it is 115.00 each way- I guess I keep waiting. Delta did drop last night from 248.00 to 242.00 round trip, but last december we paid only 148.00! It's not fair!

All of the major airlines had to slash fares to get people to fly again after 9/11. But people are back now... the planes are pretty full. I wouldn't count on seeing $148 again.

I can't find better than $350.00 per person from LAX to MCO (via Fresno). That's with United. Think I should book it or wait a while for fares to drop? We leave for WDW on 10/07/2002. (Last year we paid less than 250 each!! But yes, it was after 9/11)

I called Delta and they told me that their price for the flights I wanted was $456. I told them that the website said $215. The lady said that I might want to jump on the price then, I did. When I received the verification by e-mail it said that using the website saved me $241 a ticket.

I work at a travel agency and found airfare on Delta from Minneapolis to Orlando for 188.50 RT. This morning it was 222 and when I checked again at 11:00 it went down to that price. I don't think I will find anything cheaper. The base fare was 139.00 and with all the airport tax it came to 188.50. I'm so excited. Now I don't have to worry about anything regarding my trip. I have everything set except the excursions but that will have to wait a while.

Southwest has a rate of $277 from LAX on your date with one stop

I got an email from my fare watcher that said ours (bdl-mco) had dropped to 98.00 I was so thrilled... but when I checked it was only good until Sept. 30...bummer. I will just keep holding on. I know that I will not be able to get the 148.00 again but under 200.00 would be nice!

Thanks, Disneyslave - But I have to get to LAX from Fresno first, and Souhtwest doesn't come here. :(

If I were to buy tickets seperately to get from Fresno to LAX it would cost tons I am afraid.

Thanks though!!!!

i snagged that $215 fare this a.m. because its back up to $316. I'll never understand how airfare works. It's like this EVERY trip to FL I make one day the airfare will be $500 then $200 then back up to $350. I have been lucky so far and I think that this $215 is the most I have ever paid. The lowest was $170. It pays to check prices daily .

Tammy I will be sure to let you know if I find any deals, so far Delta has dropped to 232.00 for the 6th-14th but I certainly hope to find better than that!

I used priceline and got a great fare from Seattle to MCO for 214.00 per person!

We come from the West Coast (SF Area) and last summer we flew direct from SFO to Orlando (Non Stop) for 400 per person. That was the cheapest I have seen...we booked 6 mos in advance thru United. Would have liked American but they do not fly direct into MCO..neither does Delta. Will be looking again soon for airfares for next summer....

See now that just does not seem fair (although I am delighted for you all that got such great deals, just green with envy) why should it be cheaper to fly from Calif. or Wash. than it is for a measly two hour flight from hartford Ct.?????

My 214.00 from Seattle to MCO was not a nonstop, with priceline you usually get layovers, but there not too bad. Its a lind flight and we are usually happy just to stretch our legs!

Good question. You've got a non-stop flight to Orlando on Southwest. But I see you can get fares as low as $230 from BDL to MCO. That doesn't seem that bad to me.

Flights coming from major hubs of airlines seem to get the lower fares because those planes have to go there. Phoenix to Orlando on American will either stop in Dallas or St Louis so fares are cheaper. The short hops seem to always be more because there are no hubs in-between to pick up passengers going somewhere else.

Ann, you might want to also keep fare watchers on fares from Providence (PVD) along with Bradley. That's a very easy airport to get to from our area (I bet I live not 5 miles from you - I'm right by the Pike in Westfield!). I just got nonstop fares for us next month for $166 including all taxes on Delta. I could have gotten fares from Bradley at that time for just around $200, but they were transfers through Detroit and would have added close to 4 hours to our travels. The airport at Providence is just around 70 miles from Bradley, and *much* easier to use than Logan.

Ruth, wow we are neighbors, we live about five mins. from the purple onion on the southampton side. Small world. I will look into providence, never thought of that, hartford takes us about 45 mins so 70 is not bad. My husband said to check worcester too. Gotta hit the airfare sites and plug in those areas, thanks! Ann
