Anyone find out what movies will be on the ship? I'm trying to hold the kids off from seeing Cars 2 and POC. I'm thinking they will be on the ship and free is good!

Hi everyone:

We have been looking forward to this trip for so long, but I just found out last week my mother has terminal ovarian cancer(its inoperable and spread throughout her abdomen) and I don't know if we can go. She lives in Vancouver and we live in Victoria, so its been a rough week, especially since I found out the day my husband and youngest son went away for 4 days on a wilderness camping fieldtrip so I was on my own with the news.

My mom had breast cancer 3.5 years ago, and we thought she had beat it. They're checking to see if its the breast cancer that has spread or a whole new cancer. The oncologist will be phoning me today or Monday with the news. Best case scenario is that its a new cancer. I also have to go for genetic testing as my grandma also died of gynelogical cancer plus my great-grandma also.

My mom and dad and counsellor said we should go on the cruise anyway and try to enjoy ourselves as the worst is yet to come. I am an only child and my dad is going blind and my 93 year old grandma lives with my parents. My mom takes care of everyone, so I'm going to have to take over.

My life has changed. Sigh. I'm hoping I can still go on this trip. Please send good thoughts my way. I hope I don't sound too selfish by vacationing when my mom is dying, but I also have my kids to think about.

Hope to see all of you there in a 12 days. Of course, I haven't packed anything, or thought about what to take or anything. What's the weather been like lately?

Sorry to dump. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

PS I also have a disneyland trip planned for end of August, a 4 day cruise in December, and the 8 day NYC next July that I'm worried about too.

So sorry to hear this sad news -it must be devastating for you. I think you should take the doctors advice and go on the cruise while you still can. I doubt you'll be having a laugh a minute onboard but your kids will enjoy it and as he said, there will be far tougher days to come. You need to recharge your batteries a bit so you'll be ready to face what is to come....that's not being selfish that's being realistic.
Sending you cyber hugs and positive vibes-hope you stay strong to face whats ahead and that you get some pleasure out of the vacation.

Take Care.

This is getting more real by the minute. I am starting to get that energetic-tired feeling. Way cool!!!!

Time to review those personal navigators. Still debating on getting to the ship early or wait for the crowd to subside. What do you think?

Get there early. You can start getting to know people in the crowds and why wait around and be anxious? Just go!

With the kids I like to get there early. We go find a table where we can enjoy lunch outside. Since there are 6 of us, getting there early is best. We usually don't have problems finding a table. We enjoy our lunch and take our carry ons to the stateroom when they are ready. If the luggage is there I will unpack while the boys go roam around the ship. If it's not there I roam with them a take photos.

Hi Cruisers,

Don't forget there is a Fish Extender Exchange sign up going on over at Facebook... look for Alaskan Disney Cruise.. with our date ..I think it's the Wonder's Wildest Cruise in the West...

I can't wait.. I am a teacher, and school will be ending soon.. Then I can really start my compulsive planning!

Susan :cool1:

Hi Susan: I don't "facebook" so do you think you may be able to pass along to me the FE cabin list which I am sure has been finalized by this time? I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Maureen -- we're in Northern NJ. Please also pack a tuna sandwich and rootbeer float from Weber's! ; )

After an almost 24 hr trip door to door, we're in Vancouver. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Will spend the day chilling and recovering from the 2 flights yesterday and the 8 hr time difference and then head out later to see a bit of the city.

Wonder here we come!

Loved it - am still on Vacation in Whistler so the post cruise depression hasn't set in yet!
Our door collection of magnets grew and grew thanks to all the cool FE gifts -thanks so much to everyone for all the thoughtful gifts. The kids loved discovering all the treats in our 'Duck' almost every time we came back to the room. So many of you are so good at crafts you've inspired me for next time!

Plus....we still have candy from the FE to keep the kids happy on the long plane journey home this weekend!:)

We so enjoyed the cruise too! And I had so much fun. I was worried that I'd be too sad about my mom's cancer, but second day on the boat I was able to let that go and enjoy.

We splurged on the Tinker Bell limited edition print by Thomas Kincaid. Love it.

Did anyone come back with colds?
