I found a thread with some photos of the Page Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits, but I'm looking for a review. Is it worth the drive from Anaheim? What ages of kids do you think it would appeal to? How long should be plan to be there?
Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated, thanks.

There are reviews here (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g32655-d143830-Reviews-Page_Museum_at_the_La_Brea_Tar_Pits-Los_Angeles_California.html#REVIEWS) and here (http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-brea-tar-pits-page-museum-los-angeles). In general, TripAdvisor and Yelp are good places to find travelers' opinions of tourist attractions, hotels, and restaurants.
I'd say about 2 hours is the maximum time you would spend there, so I don't think that by itself this is worth the drive. However, it is next door to the County Museum of Art (http://lacma.org/), and the Petersen Automotive Museum (http://www.petersen.org/) is across Wilshire Blvd. You could also combine the trip with a visit to Exposition Park (http://www.expositionpark.org/), which has several museums. Another choice is Griffith Park (http://www.lacity.org/rap/dos/parks/griffithpk/attractions.htm).
Griffith Park is an exception, but you might want to consider that parking is not free at almost all L.A. tourist attractions.
Here is a page (http://golosangeles.about.com/od/losangelesmuseums/a/MuseumFreeDays.htm) that lists area museums which offer free admission, but I suggest you go to the web site of any particular place to verify.

I think the La Brea Tarpits is a very interesting place. We often take people there, and in the same trip/tour include Rodeo Drive, Fairfax to Farmers Market/the Grove, Graumann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood/Kodak Complex, and a few other places.

I took my son (then 10) to the Tar Pits on an LA trip. He really enjoyed it. There are little places here and there that are still bubbling with tar, I actually got a little on my shoe because it had leaked out of the enclosure!
There are several large Ice Age animal statues on the grounds that kids can climb on. He really loved these.
I would try and find something else to do while you're there though, maybe a stroll down the Walk of Fame?
