Are Disney likely to offer something new as soon as FD is over? Or will they wait a couple of weeks before announcing a new offer?

rumor from a friend at Disney Destinations is that they are going to be offering both the 4/3 deal and free dining in the first 3 months of the year.

The 4/3 deal does not interest me as we are planning 3 days, but I would be interested in the free dining. (Of course I get stuck buying those stinking one day tickets again). I wish they would come out with a better deal for AP holders like reduced dining or let us be able to convert the one day ticket to a gift card (like the birthday fun card). I wrote them about my idea, but I guess they didn't like it because they didn't respond back to me. Oh well.

Are they going to announce them on the same day? I am loving this. I am booked for March at rack rate and it is painful, I hate paying full price!! Now to figure out which is a better deal at a moderate for eight nights, free dining or 4/3, probably free dining.
What is the best way to figure out the best deal? We are going in January for 7 nights at POP. I think in the past the free dining changes the meal plan to QS for values. Is the 4/3 deal just for room rates or the whole ball of wax?

the 4/3 free did not include the dining. I would assume if you go dining then QS plan will be included. I think the 4/3 deal would work out better if you are staying in the mod or deluxe hotels.

If a 4/3 pops up I might just go from staying at the ASMu to CSR or CBR. We're staying for 8 nights though so I assume it'd be more of a 5/3 deal for me.

Please let this be true!:woohoo: I bought my airfare two weeks ago and gambled on a deal by staying 7 nights, not the 6 my DH thought we should. Hopefully something will come out and I won't have to go through with my offer to "stay off site one night on Hilton points" to make up for the $$ difference!
I'm not all that geeked about free dining, seems like it just clogs up all the restaurants and I don't want to be that tied into ADRs. I mean I make ADRs but sometimes we change things on the fly and when it hasn't been free dining we've rarely had trouble changing ADRs once at WDW.

It depends on the size of your family and where you stay, but generally speaking 4/3 is a better deal at deluxe resorts while free dining is the better offer at values & moderates. It isn't likely to matter, though - the two offers have never been available at the same time, so you're not going to have to choose between them!

Go on disneyworld.com and price out a 4nt stay without the dining plan
That will be your price for the pay for 4 get 3nts free offer
If you want the dining plan you would have to add it for all nights of your stay as it isn't free. You can add it separately and you can view the prices here (http://www.mousesavers.com/mywplusdining2010.html) for the regular dining plan.
For free dining plan you would go on disneyworld.com and price out the package for how many ever nights you are stayin without the dining plan included and that would be your price since the dining plan is free. That is assuming that the regular dining plan is free. If you prefer the deluxe dining plan you would pay the difference between the two

Right? He said that they are getting ready to announce it soon.
I just wonder if it will be good for Deluxe Resorts as well. I am going to the Poly in March and I would love a discount!
Lately Disney is having a tougher time filling the deluxes than the cheaper resorts (no surprise in this economy), so availability has been better at the higher priced resorts (and I see your Poly ticker - the Poly still has a TON of availability for the fall free dining offer, with less than a week left in the booking window). The podcast rumor of a "more complicated" 4/3 makes me think Disney is looking for ways to sweeten the deal on deluxe resorts.

So I'm in the planning process for January and was waiting to hear about any good deals. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, a 5 yo, and a 2 yo). We've stayed at all different levels of hotels at WDW and seem to be happiest (value for dollar) when we've stayed at Pop with free regular dining. I'm trying to crunch the numbers between 4/3 or free dining (I'm going with the assumption of quick service at values and regular at mod/deluxe). Anyone want to help??? Pretty please???
The trip I'm contemplating was for 9 nights. We like the regular dining plan. Value resorts are fine with us, so is a great deal at a deluxe (but we would prefer not to shell out the extra money for a hotel room that we are never at). We aren't huge fans of the moderates, but we'd stay wherever we get the best deal.
We are also thinking about getting AP's to use for a trip in December 2010. I remember reading something about how there was some way to maximize 4/3 to get a good deal on AP's.
Taking all this into consideration, what do the experts (you guys!) think would be the better option. My mommy brain starts hurting when I try to figure this all out...

This was my thinking too until someone pointed out that if there is a room rate change during your stay this method doesn't take that into account.
That poster suggested pricing out the 7 nights on the dates you're planning on being there with the MYW ticket (probably a base ticket for 7 days) then dividing by 7. That is one night. Then multiply by 4.
If there is no room rate change then your method should work just fine I guess...

on the touring plan blog it says that the wheel helps the CMs decide which deal is better (I assume doing a 4/3 or a room only rate option?). Or, maybe how much better a deal is for deluxe? It seems that moderates you come really close in price with a % off or the 4/3.
Really, I have no idea. I guess we'll find out soon though!:rolleyes1

You are talking about two adults and one child on the dining plan. Providing you eat the way the plan is set up, staying at a value on free dining during value season is almost certainly a better deal than 4/3.
4/3 is basically a 43% discount. Less for you because you are going for 9 nights, so it would be more like 6/3 for you.
Even if you were staying 7 nights, thereby getting the maximum 43% off the room's rack rate, the discount wouldn't be anywhere near what the dining plan would cost for two adults and one child.
Even if you don't "maximize" the plan, I doubt you could feed your family for the amount you would save on the 4/3 deal vs. paying rack rate and getting free dining.
My understanding is that the current free dining deal allows you to upgrade from QS to regular DDP by paying the difference in the dining plan costs. I think it's something like $10/each for adults. Have no idea what the difference is for children.
For me, a solo traveler planing a 7 night trip, the 4/3 would be pretty much break even at a value. But I'm trying for the WL, so the 4/3 deal would be much better for me at WL.
Everyone needs to evaluate the various offers for their specific situations.

Let the obsession in checking the website, my emails, etc., daily begin! :surfweb:
So in the spirit of being fully prepared:
If a good deal does come out & it applies to the dates we're planning to go, does it mean I need to call & cancel my current ressie and then rebook a new one or can I just tell them I want to apply the deal to my current ressie & they simply apply the discount, keeping the ressie ID and adjusting the amt owed?
Anyone having done this before care to share their experience (good or bad)?
Any key things to remember when doing this to make sure I don't screw up the process when the day comes . . . . finger's crossed it comes soon!

Normally you can ask them to apply the discount to your current reservation and adjust the amount due. HOWEVER, if the discount is a Disney Visa discount you would have to pay with the Disney Visa, if there are no rooms available at your current resort you may have to change resorts to apply the discount. You are best off to keep your eyes and ears open and call the first day so that you will have the greatest chance of getting your resort and getting to apply the discount.

You are paying for the first 4 nights of your stay whatever those prices are at full price so if there is a rate change during the first 4 nights it is still considered part of your total. The last 3 nights are the free so it doesn't matter what the price is as long as the dates all fall within the discount period.
This is how it worked earlier this year with the offer.

Assuming you have already booked a package, it depends on the availability of rooms at that resort for whatever it turns out to be! Understand? I thought not!
Here is my story -
In April of 2008 I booked my family at POFQ for 10 nights (Room Only) for January 2009. In August I turned that RO into a packagewith tix and DDP. On November 6th, Disney released the "Buy 4, get 7" deal. I called CRO to see about applying this deal to my ressie.
Because we were booked near a holiday weekend (MLK), there were no rooms available (within the 4/3 deal) at POFQ for our first few nights. My flexibility to change was nil as I was not able to change some very important ADRs (CRT, CM) so we had to completely change our plan.
Our trip ended up looking like this - 1st night RO @ ASSp, next 8 nights @WL (4/3 +1) last night RO @ POP.
For next year's trip, our airfare is booked and we have a RO booked @ POFQ but I am not setting myself up for disappointment this time! I will go wherever the eals take me! Hope fully whatever deals come out, they do so BEFORE I have to make my ADRs! :rotfl:
This was MY story! Hope it was helpful to somebody! :)

how do you figure out which is better 4/3 or free dining? We need to be prepared! :-) staying at a deluxe and getting the deluxe dining plan I think the 4/3 deal would be the best option for us... :confused3
Hi there!!:wave2:
I like to look at it this way:
Free dining will save you about $90/night-$40 for you & DH and $10 for DS.
4/3 saves you 43% if going for 7 nights so if the rack rate on the room is greater than $185 you'll save more with 4/3.

I WISH it would work this way, but it probably won't. I can make my ADR's on Oct 9 but normally the new deals for next year aren't released until the beginning of November. So I am going to make my ADR's and hope that they will work in with the scheduling either way. I'm going to book as if I am on the dining plan and then if we cancel some of the ADR's so be it. We will adjust. But you are right...it would be nice to know the deals before the ADR date. Now that they are going to 120 days again that won't happen often.

Okay, anyone have any patience to want to try to see if I did this right? I'm just not sure if it seems like a great deal or not!? :confused3 I tried posting this a couple weeks ago but no one really wanted to tackle this! I think the complicated part of the 4/3 plan might be just what I've got here, that the days are priced differently now so it makes things more complicated to figure! This is the deal on our trip. We are going Jan 2 - 10, 2 adults - myself and DD19. That's 8 nights, so figured we'd have one night we pay and then the 4/3 deal. Since Jan 2 is holiday still, figured it'd be blacked out anyway. So, Jan 2nd is the highest at holiday rate, 4 value season rate nights, then starting on Thu, Jan 7, 8, 9 it's Marathon weekend rates.
8 nights at CBR:
The Rack rates are: first night holiday rate 219, 4 nights weekday value rate 149, 3 nights weekend rate(marathon weekend Thu - Sat) 159.
With 8 nights, I figured the room at having to buy the first night at holiday rate 219 and then the rest would be at the buy 4, get 3 free, so I used the highest prices of the our trip on the marathon weekend at 159 for 3 nights of Th, F, and Sa, and 149 for the fourth night, and then the three free nights at the lowest cost of 149. With the different costs of the nights, not sure how they really will figure it out, but figured my cost as the highest possible.
159 x 3 nights, + 149 night, + 219 holiday night + 12.5 %tax = 950.63
8 tickets with hoppers:
595.60 for 5 tickets with hoppers and then 3 days free.
If we add the DDP, it's another 640.
Totals I came up with, with taxes included are:
950.63 (for 4/3 and buy 1 more room night)
+ 595.60 (for 5 park hoppers with 3 free)
---------------
1546.23 for room and tickets only
==========
+ 640.00 DDP for two adults
-----------------
2186.23 for room, tickets, dining plan
So, anyone want to or able to confirm I did this right? Brave soul, if you did, lol! :rotfl2: If they were to offer a choice of 4/3 or free dining which would be the better choice?

Hi there!!:wave2:
I like to look at it this way:
Free dining will save you about $90/night-$40 for you & DH and $10 for DS.
4/3 saves you 43% if going for 7 nights so if the rack rate on the room is greater than $185 you'll save more with 4/3.
HI!!!!!!! :goodvibes Do you have a new trip planned?? Don't tell me we will be going the same time again!!?? That would be too funny:-) I did some math last night too- I think the 4/3 will work out the best for us.
I also figured out that with all the tips you need to pay with the deluxe dining plan, it makes more sense for us to just stick with the basic plan this year and add a few TS that we will pay OOP for. (Cali Grill, CP and Ohana) I figure we will save almost 500.00 this way.... I know that all the TS we will be missing out on would totally be more than 500.00 but I am leaning towards this for the flexibility option....
And then I think... No Tonga Toast... No Tusker House.... No sit downs at MK... I am SO Confused!!!! 4/3 - Free dining- Deluxe- No Deluxe- Moderate or Deluxe hotel..... So many good choices to be thinking about!!!!:rotfl:

Here is an excerpt from Len Testa's blog. The question is IF the new discount will apply to Jan or later. Hope it does!!!
Disney has a history of announcing new discounts during the last week of September, for travel dates in mid-October through December 23-ish. And October 1 is the start of Disney’s new fiscal year. If a new discount is announced, the big question is whether it’ll cover 2010 dates, which corresponds to Disney’s second quarter. (Their first quarter is October through December, and they’ve already got an extra week in December to boost those numbers.)
Update: We’ve heard today from internal sources that a “deal wheel” was distributed to Disney’s phone agents around lunchtime. The wheel is a paper device (like a color wheel) agents use to determine the cost and savings of the latest offer. The last time a “deal wheel” was distributed was the “Buy 4-Get-7″ offer.

Oh o.k. That's not how the other person explained it. He said WDW took the average of the 7 nights and you paid 4 times the average.

I'm hoping for free dining. Need two mod rooms and 6 ppl (3 adults and 3 kids) on the dining plan for 10 nights/days. Of course, if its 4/3 I may need to go for two weeks, you know, for the savings. :rotfl2:
Then again, I'm not going until April. So I'm not getting my hopes up yet. ;)

Haven't you heard? There is something HUGE about to drop this Sunday! :woohoo: Nobody is sure just what yet, but I have a strong suspicion that us 2010ers are in for a bit of early luck this time around! :yay:
Also, on Oct 27th ADRs AND Park Hours are going to 180 days, not 120! :thumbsup2

Not so strange! As I said above, there is something REALLY BIG about to come down from Disney THIS Sunday! See the quote below for details! :)

You guys are killing me! We are planning on going next July/August, but if the 4/3 deal comes back out for 2010 I might have to move my dates up to June. Do you think the big announcement will only go through the beginning of the year? Or maybe out until June?

sorry folks, i'm clearly new - and i'm sure this has been asked countless times... i've scanned and couldn't find an answer, so here it goes...
if they release the new discounts, would i be able to call and ask them to apply it to my package?
our package consists of 7 days/6nights @ POP. We purchased our airfare through them as well.
i'm assuming at the very worst, we'd have to cancel the trip and re-book. (not an option) but i'm hoping someone out there might have some good advice!

I'm anxiously waiting for "a deal" to book both a January and a March trip. I'll hold off until Sunday....It's killing me though:)
I hope there is some truth to this rumor because it will be awfully disappointing if nothing comes out for 2010 and we have to start the wait all over again! :sad2:

Remind me about the 4/3 deal in regards to the tickets. Do you have to buy a 7 day MYW ticket? (actually, I guess you'd pay for a 4 day tix and get three extra days)
We have APs and don't need the tickets. Just wondering what the options were.

Always call and see if they can apply it. If you call right away, and your resort is available (looks like you'll be adding a night to make 7 nights unless you only want 2 free) you shouldn't have a problem.
Unless--did you get another good deal with this package you have booked? Saving just 2 nights free at POP might not be the best deal. The difference in ticket price is barely anything.

I'm an AP holder too, and I what I've read indicates that you HAVE to buy the 4 day tickets. You have to buy the "package" not just get the nights free. I'm hoping this deal comes out since we're traveling with friends in May 2010. They would benefit greatly by this deal since they're staying at a deluxe. :wizard:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that with this year's 4/3 deal, you could just buy 1 day base tickets to get the 3 nights hotel free. I seem to remember reading about a lot of AP holders doing that, and then saving the 1 day ticket to upgrade to a new AP at a later date.

So, anyone want to or able to confirm I did this right? Brave soul, if you did, lol! :rotfl2: If they were to offer a choice of 4/3 or free dining which would be the better choice?
If your calculations are correct you would be better off with free dining. 4/3 would save you 3 nights @ $168 ($149+12.5%) or about $500 on room plus about $20 on tickets while free DDP would save you the $640. BUT...last year we got that $200 gift card. OH...and you could upgrade to deluxe to make 4/3 a better deal for you.;)
HI!!!!!!! :goodvibes Do you have a new trip planned?? Don't tell me we will be going the same time again!!?? That would be too funny:-) I did some math last night too- I think the 4/3 will work out the best for us.

Looks like I leave the day you arrive. I have airfare for 11/30 to 12/7 with my oldest DD-free regular DDP at Pop with 2 friends (she had a Pin for regular DDP). Then I have to take my youngest DD for her 7th birthday 1/20 to 1/27. I took her older brother & sister for their 7th birthdays. Right now I have AKL CL booked with AAA but will change if I get a better deal someplace else.
Then I will go again for my birthday 5/1 to 5/8. I can't decide what to do about that one and I have to decide soon because of the 180 day ADR change. I'm thinking of doing DxDDP with DS. He's my good eater and loves all the "fancy" places. I want to do deluxe with him before he's an "adult". He'll be 9 in January. Now I need to decide where to stay. I actually do enjoy Pop so we could stay there. But I really LOVE Poly. DS wants to stay in a pirate room at CBR but I'm not a fan of moderate resorts. I think if we did CBR I would want to book a prefered room but if I book a moderate I might want to consider CSR for the queen beds but there will only be the 2 of us so fulls would be OK. But maybe I should try WL (never been there) with boat to MK. Or maybe I should try BC to walk to Epcot for the flower fest and DS would love the pool.....too many choices.:rotfl:
Hey-I read your PTR last night. You need to get the mods to move it back to PTR's-it is in completed reports now so I couldn't post there.

We have APs and don't need the tickets. Just wondering what the options were.
Last year I bought 1 day tickets as we already had AP's. I didn't have to buy the 4 days and thought not putting out the money for the 4 days was better than saving the $20. I stayed at Poly for 7 nights in Jan (value season) and it was $442 better than AP rate ($1,200 over rack rate). I had to spend about $150 on tickets for the 2 of us but I also got the $200 gift card in addition to the $442 savings on the room.
Subscribing. Hoping for a January deal. But if this deal includes having to purchase park tickets, what happens to AP holders? Does that mean if you don't need to buy park passes, you can't join in on the deal?Last year you had to purchase at least one day tickets. Those tickets don't expire if you don't use them. You can use them in the future to renew AP's.

Count me in as one of those hoping that the deal helps us out. We will be at the CBR May 27th through June 5th. I was able to utilize the buy 4/get 3 free deal last year in August. Free dining would save us more money than the buy 4/get 3 free but I'd take pretty much any kind of deal Disney wants to offer me.;)

:thumbsup2When I first booked last year on the day the deal came out I booked it with 7 day tickets. I wasn't really given a choice. Then I read on the Dis that you could book online with 1 day tickets so I called and asked if I could change it to 1 day and they let me.
I also booked 4/3 deal for May last year. I bought 8 day tickets with that package as my AP had expired. I didn't think I'd be back to WDW until Jan 10 so I figured I would buy new AP's then. But then we ended up going to WDW in July so I upgraded the 1 day tickets I saved from Jan to AP's (with the 10% discount card they had at the time so same price as renewal).

I am holding my breath waiting for another deal to come out! DH and I did the 4/3 deal last year and stayed at PO- FQ for a week. It was the perfect vacation & I would love to have a repeat this year. We have been toying with the idea of booking for a few nights during one of the less busy weeks in December, but hopefully something better will come out for Jan and we can do another, longer trip. We are hoping to try CBR this time! :goodvibes

Right now I have room only with AAA discount $1208 (includes taxes)
Jan 26 - Feb 9 (14nights/15days) at ASMu standard.
Would be getting (2) 10 day mye base from undercovertourist approx $496 total.
Total: $1704
__________________________________________________
If I get maybe a 40% pin code :wizard: my room only would be approx. $810 (includes taxes)
Plus uct tickets $496
Total $1306
__________________________________________________
With 4/3 it would have to be 2 separate reservations for 2 weeks (?)
1st week:
$82 + $82 + $82 + $92 (plus taxes) $338
(2) 10 day mye tickets $515 (includes tax)
2nd week
same...$338
(2) 1 day tickets to save for another trip $168
Total: $1359 (plus room tax...is that on just the 1st 4 nights or total value of rooms?) I'm going to estimate $100 for the 2 weeks, so..
Total $1459 -->
so 4/3 better than AAA, but not as good as pin code. So my major decision would be to jump on a 4/3 deal if released, then possibly have to switch back to a room only if a pin code came out, or stay with what I have and decide closer to my trip.
Does anyone else feel so fortunate that the only major decisions / crisis in their life right now are what deal to use for a trip! That I can even take one :cloud9:

So, after reading the entire thread and seeing others post that their saved offers had an ending date of 9/27/09, I decided to go see what mine said. While playing around on the Disney site a while, I got a pop up live chat box. I thought I'd do a little investigating to see if I could find out anything about the rumors. Here's our conversation:
Red is Disney
Blue is me
Thank you for contacting Disney. Please hold while we route your chat to a Disney Cast Member who will help you with your question.
Welcome to Disney! My name is ****. How may I help you today?
For our 2009 trip, I was able to take advantage of the buy 4/get 3 free promotion. From what I have heard, you guys intend to come out with that same deal very very soon. I would like to book a stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort 5/27/10 to 6/5/10. Should I wait for the deal to come out before I book?
Hi there!
Currently, there are no specials out for 2010. I would recommend booking your reservation and if an offer comes out you can modify your reservation to the offer based on availability.
Do you think that Disney will be offering any special offers in 2010?
I'm sure they will be offering specials at some time but presently I have no information on any 2010 offers.
Well, phooey! When I heard that the castmembers had gotten their "wheel", it meant offers were soon to be released.
Which cast member did you here from?
I don't have my notes with me but I called earlier this morning. It was a guy and he said that some of the castmembers had gotten their "wheel" which meant that there were offers coming soon.
Well I'm sorry but at this time their are no offers for 2010 available to tell you about. You can book and modify your reservation later should an offer come out based on availability.
Thanks so much for your time. I'll talk to my husband and decide what we want to do.
Have a great evening, Lisa
You are very welcome! We look forward to your visit. Thank you for visiting Disney and have a Magical Year!
I typed this word for word and, yes, the castmember did have a few mispelled words.
I did tell a little white lie when I said I called when I actually read the rumor on these boards. I know that they can't tell you much until it's official but I thought it was worth a shot. Still waiting impatiently.

Did you pay for 4 nights room, tickets , dining plan and then get 3 nights room, dining, and tickets free ?

Did you pay for 4 nights room , 7 days tickets ( or more if u wanted) , and 7 days dining plan ?
Also was the gift card included with this deal? I am hoping its the first one! Thanks

The 4/3 deal consisted of purchasing four nights accommodations and four days of tickets and getting three free for a total of 7 nights hotel and 7 days tickets. Dining was not included in the deal at all, so if you wanted dining it could be added on but at the full price for seven days.
A $200 gift card was included during some of the promotion period for those who booked within those specific dates. My family happened to go during that time and were given the $200 gift card which we used to pay for tips.

Oh, I forgot all about that! Can they be used for food or just merchandise?
You could use it for virtually anything except paying off the package. You got the card at check in. I just charged everything back to my room and then paid off the room balance with the gift card.
I think the gift card was for check in dates for Jan through March. I know I got it in Jan but not in May.

Okay, I know this is a stupid question....bear with me. I am going Feb. 5-9 at ASMu in a suite with my DH and 2 DD. We have a MYW package with PH and DDP. Would the 4/3 apply to us? Would we just get the one day free? If they do free dining, we can only get the QS? I already have the DDP in my package? I am in discount overload!!!! Help!

Mousesavers doesn't have a Visa offer listed prior to the 4/3. :confused3 I know Visa holders get advance notice on the free dining and I thought they did on the 4/3 as well, but maybe not if Mousesavers doesn't have it on their chart.

OK, question here....
We are not doing a dining plan if we do not get free dining. If the 90 day mark hits before deals are announced, can I make reservations and then cancel them? I know I read somewhere that you had to pay for an ADR if not on the DDP - is that right?

Last year I did not get advance notice on the 4/3 deal and I'm a cardholder. However, Mousesavers had said there was going to be a deal opening up on 11/6/08 at 5pm Eastern, so those that hung around here and Mousesavers did have that head's up.

The 4/3 deal would actually save us about $800 in December if it were to be good for our dates of 16-22nd. We are currently on an AP room only rate at the Wilderness cabins and would need to purchase a golf cart to make transportation there more convenient with four young kids.
With a 4/3 deal not only is the family suite at the value resorts cheaper, it would save us the money from renting a golf cart as well. We would be okay with the 5/2 deal at the values too because we had only planned on 6 days anyways. That is if this rumor even comes to light.

Nevermind lol the 4/3 deal wouldn't save us any money. I just read on another thread that touringplans.com is reporting that as part of the deal you must purchase tickets equal to your length of stay and not just the usual customary 1 day ticket in order to qualify for the package. If that is true then it wouldn't help us, as three of our six member party have annual passes already. So I guess there is no better deal than an AP room only rate for passholders in December. :confused3

Here's the latest from the touringplans.com site for those of you who haven't read it:
Details are still being worked out, but we’ve heard from multiple, usually-reliable sources that Disney’s Buy-4-Get-7 deal will return next week. The announcement may be made as early as Monday, but could be as late as Thursday. Value resorts will have a slightly different “Buy-5-Get-2″ deal. Travel dates, we hear, could be October 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010. Book by December 20, 2009 (we think that’ll be extended). And you must purchase Magic Your Way tickets to match the number of nights of your stay.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, in particular the announcement dates.

This to me sounds like the room only is buy 4 get 3. It does not say you will get any nights free on your ticket. It says you must "purchase". Although the savings on the tickets was very small, it was still something.

The end of March beginning of April is the week before Easter this year (Easter is April 4). Typically, they say that the week before and after Easter Sunday are blacked out on the promotions.
We went the week after Easter this past year (April 11-18, 2009...Easter Sunday was the 12th) and we were able to take advantage of the 4/3 deal...even though they said those dates were blacked out. When the deal first came out in November, I tried putting in our dates and it wouldn't run it with the promotion. One day when I was playing around with my Disney planning in January, I tried it again and it ran them at the deal, so I called our Grand Gathering coordinator at Disney and they confirmed that we could in fact have the deal over Easter and we applied that code to everyone in our Grand Gathering....and upgraded from the Pop to Coronado Springs. So, long story short....Disney probably won't offer this discount to Easter week at first, but they might offer it in a few months. Oh, they also didn't advertise it either for those weeks...the explanation still said those dates were blacked out, but if you went ahead with the reservation process it let you get the 4/3 deal.
I am really hoping for this deal over Easter week this year. Right now I am planning on staying at Fort Wilderness, but we will switch to PO-R if we can get this deal.

It would seem to be a good deal for folks staying at mods or deluxes for a week. It is an OK deal for values, but nothing great. It is meaningless for people staying less than a week. If true, this should push many guests from value to mod. Values should be a bit emptier, and perhaps more busy with guests planning stays shorter than a week.

You have to give them your AAA number when you make the reservation, but if you don't have one yet, you can tell Disney you'll call them back with it and they'll hold your reservation for a day. Then join when you know you can use it. We did that last year - the 4/3 deal didn't work for us but we got a AAA discount, so that was better than nothing!

This is nothing new. Many packages have different room discounts based on the resort level. It's about supply and demand. WDW isn't having as difficult of a time filling value rooms as they are mod and deluxe, so they sweeten the deal to get folks to book those.
Personally, I'll be thrilled if it's 4/3 and available the week before Christmas. I really want to go to the WL that week and this deal would make it possible.

Please do the math.
With existing October - December AP discounts, when staying for 7 nights, the rates are extremely comparable - within a few dollars per night.
If staying for less than 7 nights or more than 7 nights, the AP rates are usually better.

I think the thing that a lot of AP holders are thinking about, including me, is last April spring break the 4/3 was offered during that period and it was a huge savings over any type of AP discount offered during that frame -- I think AP discounts were blacked out during that frame anyway.
Not sure how Jan-Mar will play out, but normally there is a decent AP discount offered during Jan and early Feb. It's a wait and see game, I guess!

Last January the AP discount on deluxe rooms was $96.
If you only compare room costs the 4/3 deal beats all deluxe room rates at $96 off rack rate. It is only better by about $50 on the 7 night stay for a standard view at WL but if you want say AKL club (like I do) it is better by $425 which is substantial. I am planning a trip with just me & a child under 10 so it would cost me about $445 to purchase 4 day tickets for the 2 of us. I probably would book this deal and at least have those tickets for future use rather than book AP to save $20. I would rather save the $425 now.

A deal this Sunday sounds great! I will be checking everyday regardless. :thumbsup2
I am not too picky about any deal when it comes to saving $$. But, I am very excited about 4/3. I just don't think my family would eat enough to really take advantage of free dining. But if offered it we would take it.
I'm also planning for January or March so as far as I know there is no existing AP rates.
But there will be!! I've been an AP holder since 1995 and rest assure, there will be AP discounts in January and most likely in March too. Since Easter is early April, expect to see a blackout the week before and the week after Easter Sunday.
Personally, I would love to see some new AP discounts this year like 50% off rooms, a discount off of the dining plan. Last year I got a new AP discount and I wrote a letter after taking part in it to tell the passholder office how great it was to do something different. Not sure if you had read about it. Last fall they offered a shopping trip discount. It was for a very short window for 2 weeks in November. I got 50% off of my room at a value resort and I got a 35% discount on all merchandise. We jumped on it and flew down for a quick 3 day shopping visit. It was the first time they had ever done something like this before. (As a family of a former CM, it was like being a CM again.) Not sure if I could do it this year as we have a trip in October and a trip in December (january too), so it might be hard to squeeze another trip in. While the General Public gets some of these promotions we too, as AP holders, get some pretty good perks that they don't get. 50% off mini golf, $25 off the TiW dining discount card, special soft opennings of events and rides, discounts on tours, and the fact that we don't have to buy a ticket to get the ddp added to our reservation.

If it comes out that the values will be a 5-2 deal, the offer does us no good, because we can only go for 5 nights. We are going during spring break, and with having to drive 24hrs, we don't have 7 nights to spend at WDW.
I did the calcs on my trip, and it would be about $100 more for our friends to stay at POR, and $800 less for us, because we wouldn't be in a family suite. If we went with the 4-3 at a mod vs. the values. This is with our baby being person #5 in their room. However, that isn't much of a savings off the rack rate we are currently booked at. GRRRRR.
I'm now on the watch for a great room-only rate to come out, or possibly another package deal. I saw at mousesavers.com that last year they had all 3 available during the week of March we are looking to go.

Hello - do you remember when you were able to book the 4/3 for May/when it came out?
Hoping for last week of April/1st week of May myself!

Most of the country does not get any kind of school break in February, but last year the buy 4/get 3 free deal was from January until summer (with some black out dates around major holidays.)

So if we are doing 2 weeks with 2 different resorts (1 week at each resort) I am guessing I would have to buy the 7 day pass for each resort/booking. This is about $260 more than buying the premium annual pases (if I don hopper and water park add ons); still a better deal if the annual pass discount is 40% or less, I guess, given I have seen comments the 4/3 equates to about 43% off.
Does that make sense?:confused3

I hadn't paid much attention to the buy-4-get-7 deal previously, since it didn't fit our trip. But, now we have a week trip scheduled where it might be applicable. Since we already have free dining, I'm going to need to pull out the calculator.
Does the buy-4-get-7 deal include hotel room AND park tickets, or is it just for the hotel room?
If we have already paid for our trip in full, will WDW reimburse us back the difference (assuming we snag a better deal)?

Last year it did include tickets but it is only about $10/ticket to go from 4 to 7 days.
If you aren't 45 days out yet you will get reimburse. If you less than 45 days out you have to pay a $50 change fee.

All 3 over age 3?
Staying value season?
Free dining is about $40/adult & $10/kid. Even if one child is under 3 you're saving $100/night on DDP for 2 adults and 2 children. That would be about $700 savings for 7 nights or $770 if you 3rd child is over 3.
Value season at POR if $149 + 12.5% tax or $167/night or about $500 savings for 3 "free" nights. Plus about $50 in tickets if all kids over 3 or about $550 total savings for 4/3 deal.

Here's something to think about.....when I booked my stay (2/5-2/10) a few weeks ago, I asked about any upcoming offers. The CM told me that he knew of nothing for my stay. BUT, to keep an eye on the Disney webiste. If ANYTHING was offered for the dates I had booked, call back and ask if anything could be worked out. He said they can change things around to make discounts work, even if you don't think they apply to you.

Price it out. You might be surprised to see that a moderate won't cost you that much more. I know I ran my figures based on Easter week (I really hope they offer this deal for then) and there was less than $100 difference. Now I may be doing my calculations wrong :teacher:, but I think I figured it correctly.
I did crunch some numbers and I figure to upgrade to a moderate would be $240. Seems like a good deal but my family wants to stay at ASMu. Last trip we stayed at CBR and they thought the resort was too big and wanted to go back to a smaller resort. What are the sizes of Port Orleans resorts? Are they small?

You have to give them your AAA number when you make the reservation, but if you don't have one yet, you can tell Disney you'll call them back with it and they'll hold your reservation for a day. Then join when you know you can use it. We did that last year - the 4/3 deal didn't work for us but we got a AAA discount, so that was better than nothing!
I've also heard you can join any AAA club, not just the one in your own community, so if you'll really get absolutely no value out it besides discounts, I've heard people say they join in a less expensive market. Sorry I can't remember where the cheapest one is....

Port Orleans - French Quarter is small. I think it is the smallest of all the moderates. We stayed at Port Orleans-Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section. It is a large resort, but not as large as CBR. I think CBR is one of the largest resorts. We have also stayed at Coronado Springs in the Cabana section and we LOVED it. Unfornately, with a family of 5, our options are limited as to where we can stay affordably on Disney property. If you stay at PO-FQ or PO-R, you can use the pools at both resorts no matter which one you are staying at. One of the things I liked about Coronado Springs is that it was one of the first bus stop que areas at all of the parks. The Port Orleans bus stop que area was the last one at all the parks. I know that might not seem like that big of a deal, but with 3 tired, or asleep kids, it is nice not to have walk/carry them so far.

so in the rumored deal you have to buy the same number of days as the rooms? Then what about APs??? :confused3
Annual Passholders wont make out at all on this deal then! :scared1:
you could always 'hold' the tix & upgrade it to AP when time to renew
Please do the math.
With existing October - December AP discounts, when staying for 7 nights, the rates are extremely comparable - within a few dollars per night.
If staying for less than 7 nights or more than 7 nights, the AP rates are usually better.
Only if available, there were no AP rates for any of the deluxe resorts i wanted when i booked week of 12/5 early August, so we went with FDP @ PORFQ

Anyone know the answer to the question regarding which days they pick for your 4 at rack rate. For example, if I'm arriving on a Sunday, would my first four days (lower rate) be the 4 they charge me and then the following 3, which 2 happen to be the weekend rates and therefore higher are free, or would they take an average?
(I think I saw it asked here, but don't know if I saw the answer).
Thanks.

i see alot of people hoping for a deal so that they can upgrade to a mod or dlx. i just want a deal so that a weeks stay in disney doesnt cost me an arm and a leg! we went during peak season this year and paid about $1400 less than what i just booked for Feb 2010! We did the same length of stay, same tix, same dining plan, same hotel but got the 4/3 deal with the $200 gift card. I understand that prices go up each year, but $1400????? i think it stinks if they dont offer the same deal at the value as they do at the others. i am at my hotel so little that upgrading doesnt benefit me at all. if they want to book up the hotels, offer great deals at them ALL.....at this point, i am keeping my fingers crossed for free dining. it would save me ALOT more than a 5/2 "deal".......
I am with you 100%. Even if there is a $200 gift card, the 4/3 is not a better deal than free dining for my family of four. Not even close. Cracks me up that so many people want the savings - then they all upgrade and end up spending even more!

The 4/3 offer is a great deal for our family. Last year we saved $2,200 which is more than we would for free diing. We stayed in the same accomadation that we would have without the deal.
I realise that not every deal is right for every family. If I get a deal great if not I am going anyway.

Some of us aren't a family of four. And for some of us free dining isn't a better deal. Believe it or not, some of us would actually like to be able to stay at a deluxe resort at a price we can afford.

Totally disagree with you - respectfully ;)
For our family, the dining plan is a terrible deal. There is way too much food on there - more than we could ever eat. And we don't eat like birds either.
To us it makes no sense to get a discount on meals that we would end up skipping. And I don't want to be force feeding myself on vacation just so I could feel like we ate our money's worth.
We would rather take the discount on the resort and pay out of pocket for only the food we can reasonably eat.

We are on a super budget, and I totally agree. For us, I will take the room/ticket discount, and save more money that way. We will not do the DDP without free dining. I can pack snacks, eat breakfast in our room, and split meals. Our kids are not used to getting kid's meals everywhere we go - they normally split our food. Plus, I have a VERY picky son. I will still do a character meal or two, but for us - I hope that the 4/3 is true!!

It is certainly up to the individual case. For my family, the 4 of us are on adult dining plan so the free dining would save money. However, if you did not have that many adults on dining it would be a better deal for the 4/3 deal. Since we usually travel in June, any deal is a welcome one. However, I will probably upgrade to a mod if the deal is not 4/3 for the values.

My oldest just turned 10 - so he will be on the adult plan. Thank goodness he does eat as much as my husband (and more than me!). Makes the extra price easier to take. Plus, he did have trouble finding food on the kid's menu - the same dishes seem to be on a lot of the menus. More than once this past trip, I traded meals with him.

Yeah, but we get more for the money we spend! :rotfl: For us, it is a case of having a fairly fixed vacation budget. When we start planning we set an amount that we are willing to spend on our package, and that amount is pretty much set in stone - we won't go over by more than a few dollars. So when a code comes out, we're not comparing the price of one resort to another and trying to get the lowest bottom-line price tag; we're comparing the prices of the resorts we like to the amount we budgeted. At rack rate the budget for this trip would mean a moderate resort with a little money leftover, but a good discount means we can bump up to a deluxe.

I totally understand what you are saying, but for some families, the lowest bottom line is what is most important. For my family, saving by staying at a cheaper resort means more days at the parks and extra perks like La Nouba, Disney Quest, and more "take home goodies" for my kids. It is two totally different ways of planning and budgeting. You feel like you are getting more for your money, but so do I. I don't care if we are staying at the AKL or the POP, we just love being there. No matter what criteria a person uses to plan or budget their trip, I think that we can all agree that each knows what is best for their families and all that matters is having a good vacation. To each his own.... :thumbsup2

Doesn't everybody have a travel budget:confused3 whether of the hamburger helper or lobster variety? Even my friends who have seemingly endless deep pockets are watching their bottom line this year.;)
im of the more-the-merrier trips' frame of mind:thumbsup2 & the only way that's possible to is look for the best deal. I'd be willing to guess that many other DVC owners decided to take an additional trip or bank their points in order to go for the FDP offers this year.

Yeah, it is just different ways to work with the budget we each have. I think a lot of people look for the lowest bottom line because saving money on one trip means taking the next sooner. If it were a case of one $5000 deluxe vacation or two $2500 value vacations, I'd look a lot more at the bottom line too! But since we don't really have the time available for that between DH's business and the kids' school schedules, we approach the budget differently, looking more at getting the most out of our one big trip within the bounds of what we have to spend.

I think we'll actually save more than that... My mother is traveling with us, so we're booked for two rooms at the Poly. By my math, the 4/3 will save us over $1200 per room. On a 2 bedroom villa, which is the other option we priced, the savings would be right around that $2200 mark.

Please keep in mind that everyone's situation is different. We saved $1500 or so last year on the 4/3 deal. We had 2 rooms at AKL. Plus we got 2 gift cards. For us, we already had a non-discounted trip booked at AKL (same trip - 2 rooms). We changed to the deal when the 4/3 came out. We booked exactly the same trip. We didn't upgrade and end up spending more.
Free dining may be a better deal for you. 4/3 may be a better deal for someone else. For us, we do not enjoy the dining plan. If it's free, sure -- we'll take it, but we don't really eat that way so it's not a big selling point for us.
Even if the 4/3 deal enables someone to upgrade to moderate or deluxe for the same cost as the value or mod they were thinking about, why is that a source of humor? I'm guessing the people booking those trips are thrilled. :confused3

:thumbsup2
Rereading my post, I realize it didn't quite come across the way I intended. I;m not saying we're getting more for our money than families who stay value; that's far too subjective and what we're willing to spend extra on may mean nothing and therefore seem like wasted money to someone else. What I meant was that we're getting more for our money than we would be without a code. That why I'm here obsessing over a code that won't make a difference to the bottom line of our trip - because while we'll be giving Disney roughly the same number of dollars either way, we'll be getting a lot more in return if a great offer like 4/3 comes out!

So add the $200 gift card and it's pretty much a wash.

Agreed. Especially if you plan on eating in the dining plan style.
We found the $200 GC saved us more because we didn't have to pay for more than we were going to eat ... other than Akershus where DD was too busy watching princesses to eat, but that's a different story. :lmao:

Hello - do you remember when you were able to book the 4/3 for May/when it came out?
Hoping for last week of April/1st week of May myself!
Cheers
I booked the 4/3 deal on the day it came out (11/6/08) for the last week of April for the Poly. It was offered through sometime in June though.
Someone asked if you were only staying six nights at a deluxe , if you paid for the first four nights, could you still get two nights free? I'm also looking for an answer to this as well :)
The last 4/3 deal was a MAX of 3 free so you could still get 1 or 2 nights free but the way to 'maximize' the deal was to stay a week. Of course, Disney knows the longer they have you there, the more money you'll spend on food, activities, and souven'ears'
This is my problem with 4/3 now I am going to want to upgrade :lmao:Not that it is really a problem. Now where tmoo stay? See what all of the Rumors do:rotfl2::surfweb:
I will say this, when I booked the 4/3 deal for the Poly for last April, I was able to book it the first day the deal was released. But I kept checking availability and pricing AFTER I booked and that deal was no available at that resort for long (for the dates I was traveling). So if you are set on a particular resort or room type and this deal does come out like the rumor suggests, I recommend you book it as soon as possible.
And I REALLY hope the rumors are true that they do release the 4/3 deal. I'm in!!!

Same here we saved a lot with the 4/3 because we stayed at the Contemporary and got the 10 day hopper non expiring.
Basically with the 4/3 deal the more you spend the more you save.

Luckily, I already have a AAA membership. I already made a reservation without applying it though. But, if they still have rooms available, I should be okay to change, right?
Yes, that should be no problem as long as they still have AAA rooms available. I did that last year because I had my reservation before the 2009 rates came out. When they came out, I called and asked them for the AAA discount, so they applied it and my confirmation number stayed the same. I also didn't have to give a new deposit since it was still a room-only reservation.

That's exactly what why we're hoping for the 4/3 deal. We're currently booked in a 1BR villa at a AAA discount. If the 4/3 deal comes out, we can get a 2BR for the same price as we were planning to spend on the 1BR. Same budget, bigger accomodations.

If the 4/3 is true, it will work for us only because we would prefer to stay in a Deluxe for 7 nights. We will be there in January and had planned to stay off property for 2 nights to go to Sea World, then stay at WL for 5 nights. With the 4/3 we could stay at WL the whole time...which makes us much happier! The 4/3 may not work for everyone but does any discount or deal really work for everyone anyway? Other deals haven't worked for us in the past. I think it's just different strokes for different folks. Hope people can make the most out of whatever the new deal is.:)
Also, my question is why would Disney offer the 4/3 deal from now to the end of the year? They have significant discounted room specials through Dec 24. If the deadline to make a reservation for the room specials and Free Dining ends this weekend, maye that opens up room for the 4/3 deal for the remainder of this year?:confused3

Gee, is it normal for people to get so cranky about all this? This is a discussion board and people have different opinions. It seems wrong to be mean spirited and to get snappy with other people.:confused3 Telling other people to "laugh it up" seems contrary to the whole spirit of Disney.
I do get a little irritated when someone implies that people who want to stay at any resort more expensive than a value are somehow foolish to spend more money than they have to.
We all have different desires for the resort we stay at during our WDW vacations. For some, it is simply a bed to crash in at the end of a long day of touring the parks. For others, we would rather spend a little more money and have a nicer resort experience - lush landscaping, transportation other than on buses, more resort dining options than just a food court, private balconies, etc.
So when someone says:
Cracks me up that so many people want the savings - then they all upgrade and end up spending even more!
I feel the need to point out that we are all different. And "laugh it up" was in response to "cracks me up".
As a PP mentioned, some of us have a vacation budget and will spend up to that amount. We don't approach it as "how little can we possibly spend at WDW". We look at it as "how much can I get on my budget".
For some of us, who don't want to stay at a value but can't swing a mod or deluxe at rack rate, this kind of discount is awesome!

I'm hoping for free dining! We will only stay a mx of 6 nights. last year we saved about 500 with the free gift card included and staying 6 nights, rather than 7. Dining has gone up this year, so I think free dining and staying at a value would be the best deal for us.

Travel dates should be 10/1/2009 through 3/20/2010. Value resorts will have a Buy-5-Get-7 (as opposed to B-4-G-3 at mods and deluxes).

The 'why' may be that bookings for the fall/winter free dining have failed to meet expectations. After reading the rumor on UG, i took a peak at what's open for the week before Christmas, thinking that if the 4/3 is available at that time we might push our trip up just a bit. Not only is there ample availability with the discount at the deluxe resorts, ADRs are plentiful too! I was able to find pre-opening character breakfasts at MK and Epcot, CA Grill for a fireworks time, Chef Mickey's the Sunday before Christmas, etc. all for a party of 6 and often with a choice of times! That tells me that the response to holiday free dining has been sluggish. IMO Disney is counting on the extra week in 1Q2010 to get the fiscal year off to a strong start, and free dining isn't getting the job done.

Campsites were not included in the 4/3 deal last year. Free dining is never an option for campsites. The reason being Fort Wilderness has one of the highest occupancy rates on property. However it has been reported in recent weeks that the campgrounds have been a ghost town. It would be nice if they were to be included in any new discounts. The cabins are always included in discounts.

That's an interesting set of observations. Thansk for passing that along. I'm wondering whether the new 4/3 deal will do an effective job at drawng more guests, or will it have the effect of driving more guests up a level or two to mod or dlx. 4/3 is a great deal if you're staying a week at a mod or dlx (I did this in May 2009 at POFQ :thumbsup2); 5/2 is a "meh". Raising occupancy rates at mods and dlxs will certainly help out Disney's bottom line even if the values are a little deserted.
As for me, I just can't schedule a week at WDW this winter/ spring, but I'd sure like to book a fine long weekend if they come up with some kind of perk for me.
I hope everybody gets something good out of the pending discounts. Happy booking next week, EVERYBODY! :cool2:

We booked the 4/3 deal this past year for the end of June at POR. But when I read this from a pp "Value resorts will have a Buy-5-Get-7", I think I nearly fell off the chair. 12 days at Disney for 5! HOLY MOLY! I'd make a trip just to say I took advantage of that deal...:rotfl:

So if a 4/3, 5/2 deal starts for 10/1...during the months when free dining is still being offered...what are the chances they'll extend free dining (minus the Xmas blackout dates) throught March and give 2010 people a choice? I did see a post where someone heard it would be a choice. Maybe that's not too farfetched of an idea. I better do my math and figure out what works best for everyone in my GG party.

I WISH we could have that choice. FD would save us way more than 4/3 or in our case the possible 5/2 at a Value. We have decided that we will stay with a value for many reasons, but mostly because we prefer to spend money on things other than the place we are sleeping, and we just don't get as much use of the pools etc in January. The moderates/Deluxes are great, but the values allow us to have more trips. Now the FD is a godsend for us. Disney...please give us a choice!:lovestruc

I'm going to AMEN this one!! :thumbsup2 I've mentioned before with travel we can really only do 5, maybe 6 nights max. The buy 5 get 7, i think, means buy 5 get 2 days free. Just like last year you had to buy at least 4 to get 1,2 or 3 days free.
WE have a ressie at CSR mod for 10 nights. Already bought the tickets this week. So does a special like this mean that you could get 2 days free on just the hotel room or do you have to buy tickets/package deal? What was it last time?

Last time it was pay for four nights hotel & tickets, get three nights hotel & tickets free. Plus a $200 gift card. You had to buy at least a days' worth of tickets for everyone on the reservations. My parents got three nights free, the $200 gift card and one day of tickets, because they had unused days from another trip. They did not get any free days of tickets, because they did not buy four days' worth, but did get the three nights at All Star Music.
